stronghunter said...

This rain makes you want to light up the fireplace and curl up on the sofa.

I had a good friend years ago from Colorado who said she loved the cool rainy days in the summer we had on Lake George in New York. She said they had so many dry sunny days where she lived in Colorado that she appreciated the variety. I have to say I prefer sunny days.

My old coffee table has disappeared! I had promised it to Tom and Kathryn, but Tom didn't take it when he left. I think he didn't have room with the old sofa he took away, but now it is gone. I do hope he came and got it when I wasn't here.

Only thing--he did not wrap the glass top in the quilt I brought down. He always says,"Oh, it will be okay in the truck." Yeah. He has been known to drop things off the truck more than once. Doesn't listen to his mil, though. Sneaked back and got that table when I couldn't make him take the precautions!

I just hope it got there safely.

WHoo HOo! Good Morning! Sure is chilly or down right cold outside. I am excited about the weekend events no matter what degrees it is. Just keep the roads clear for our travelers.

Lolly said...

Walked down to get the paper this morning and was greeted by a Red Shouldered Hawk flying over...low.

Which reminds me of a hawk story!
While we were gone last week, Laurel went to pick up Joseph at his other Grandmothers. Faye told Laurel, "We have a problem". Well, while trimming bushes in her very small backyard, they discovered a sick or injured young hawk. Laurel went to see it. She said it was so sad. He was just sitting there, closing his eyes. When you got close to it, it just looked at you, as if to plead, "please help me." Laurel called animal control and they said they would come pick it up, to please put it in the front yard. So, Laurel carried the trimmed shrubbery to the front yard, then my 8 year old Joseph picked it up, like they instructed, and carried it to the front yard, putting it down in the branches. Apparently they came and picked it up, but we do not know anything further about the story.

Mits said...

that is fine with me Lynn, I had told Norma this a.m., if her email was working I would have sent them to her:):)I don't have everyone's email.

Good Morning, Everyone!

THE KIDS GOT HERE OK!!! Very late last night, because their flight out of DFW was delayed more. But they're HERE!!!! They came straight to our house, they were SO tired! Both kids slept on the plane, and the man who sat behind our daughter could NOT get over how well-behaved little ggd Sierra was! He had to compliment our daughter about her! 11yo Courtney was good as gold, too.
Please say some prayers, because Hubby is fighting some chest congestion. He had a regular flu shot over a week ago, so don't know what's up with that. Prayers are much appreciated, though. I'm trying to get him a Dr. appt. TODAY so he doesn't have to go thru the weekend.
Well, I've got homework to do for tonight's class, and a test to study for--please pray about that, too! Prayers of thanks being said for having the kids here--SOOOOOO
good to see them again!!!
Can tell you are all getting excited about Open House!! I'll be there in spirit, and in a bottle!
Will check back here later if possible; if not, after school tonight... Prayers for all the Open House travelers! Later....

stronghunter said...

Hunter did not go to school today. Kathryn said he was still awake at 1:00 AM. I am sure he was aware of the goings-on. He is not a child who functions well at school on so little sleep. I assume he stayed awake waiting for his mom to come home.

We had crab cakes at the work cafeteria a few times, and one of the managers, who was from the mid-Atlantic area, suggested some Dijon mustard with them. Didn't sound too good, but i decided to try it anyway ... I thought I had died and gone to Heaven.

Crab cakes with green onion sauce. Yummy!!! Had that for the first time in Maine. Thought I had died and gone to heaven it was soooo good. Now I make green onion sauce for my crab cakes.

Have finished the mowing and now going to try to do a little more. Will stop if my back says "NO!"

Thinking of all of you, wishing I was there. Have fun!!!!

Lynn, thanks for the pictures of Benjamin! He is absolutely precious and Mommy and Daddy look so happy and so proud!

hedgie said...

Gotta go finish getting ready for our evening!!! See some of you in a little while. Will miss those of you not with us! Be back much later.

Lolly said...

Ok, Lynn, we will want a report!

Mits said...

Maine is for lobster, not crab cakes...green onion sauce doesn't sound good either, be like putting mustard on your Texas beef...

Mits said...

this is pretty much the basic receipe for MARYLAND crabcakes....

Ingredients

2 slices dried bread, crusts removed

milk

1 tablespoon mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon McCormick® Parsley Flakes

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon OLD BAY® Seasoning

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg, beaten

1 pound lump crabmeat

Directions

In a large bowl, break bread into small pieces. Moisten with milk.

Add mayo, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, baking powder, OLD BAY, salt, egg and crabmeat. Mix lightly and shape into patties. If time permits, refrigerate patties 30 minutes to help keep them together when cooking.

Broil or fry until golden-brown on both sides.

Hi everyone and blessings around.
Sure sounds like this weekend will be fun-filled and I'm sorry I have to miss it.

The surgery went well and I'm recuperating - slowly. Seems like the older one is the longer it takes to heal. Will get my post-op check-up on Tues and then the fun of PT begins. Yikes.

Hope all the travelers have a safe trip and enjoy themselves this weekend. Please post pictures of the event for us.

Wishing I could be there ....
God bless all

Good late evening. We had a very fun evening, but sure did miss those who weren't there! LOL!! Too funny.
Anyway food was yummy, music was acceptable, service wasn't too bad, and company was great!
Lynne, you have mail---so sorry you won't be coming....boo!

I missed the S'mores altogether last year also...and this was the first I heard about it, on the Blog today.

Lynne, very disappointed you cannot travel Saturday, but we do have Nest Visits in the Spring and Summer....something to plan for ☺

Loretta, you must get some sleep. And Warm will be Fashionable...believe me!
Long travel day for Sharon and Thelma, hope they are both getting some good shut-eye. Hope Sissy ad Tom made it to Martinsburg A-Ok.

I am too tired to type without mistakes, and morning comes too early for me, so this better my Good Night.....

Prayers for all, and Love to all also.
God Bless Us, Every One

Good (very late!)Evening, Everyone!
Just got home from school. Sounds like you guys are having a wonderful time! Wish I could've been there. Having LOTS of fun myself, though--SO nice to have the kids here!
Got Hubby in at the Dr's. this afternoon, and he has two inhalers and some Robitussin to help him out. Sounds a little better now--voice not so raspy. Pray he's MUCH better after a good night's sleep!
The kids are over at the other grandparents' house visiting. Son-in-law's brother drove in from Las Vegas, where he lives, to visit. Good to see him again, too! We went to lunch with the kids & SIL's brother at a local deli, Tony's. They have the most fantastic sandwiches and macaroni salad!!! YUM!!!!! Real quality stuff. They've been around since 1972.
Baby Ben is just adorable!!! What proud, happy parents, too! The Kalis family must be having SO much fun with the little fella now that he's home.
Well, going to go watch some TV to unwind. Prayers for all who need them, and prayers for safe travel.
Will talk to you in the morning.
Leaving the night light on; the porch light's automatic, and the eye scanner works. Please don't slam the door and wake up Benjamin Patrick! G'night all.... :o]

Good Morning Eagle Friends ♥

Thinking of all as they set out for the day, wherever you are and whatever your plans.
For the NCTC Open Housers,
I know you will be careful...take your time, watch the puddles, and remember dressing warmly and waterproofed is fashionable today! Prayers for safe traveling, by vehicle and by feet.

Glad that your family arrived and that the fun has begun Andrea.

I'll see the Momsters at the dinner sometime around 7, and will enjoy catching up on news here at the end of the evening.

Heading out to work soon...
Prayers being said for our many needs here.
