Eagle eating something at BW. That's right--it's their Open House today. Wish it was closer.
Really should go to work for awhile-----lots of stuff all of a sudden for Fall activities at nature ctrs. Things were so traumatic I heard there TH w/Police, deer, etc., ladies went home early that day. Before Police, Rangers came back after it's demise to take in woods, some unseen interlopers pulled it under trees and tried to get meat. If they had been up front and asked while someone in authority had been around, the answer probably would have been yes. They were heard by those that returned scrurrying thru woods & one Ranger thought she heard an ATV- illegal on Park property.

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning All!
Hi Helen - Lynn & Loretta
Saw the BW eagle - they are having Open House and a great sunshiny day!
Hope a lot of visitors get to see the eagles.

Need to read previous thread for this morning..... So glad to have this Fresh New Thread! Thanks

Mema Jo said...

Oh today is Fixer Upper Day for our
Sharon. I remember the last time she did this and she looked spectacular with the new do! She said she would post her pic! She'll feel like a brand new gal!

I see Megan on the early thread for today. I was hoping she got to the Open House :<( We'll see her at OUR
Open House.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Nice to see an eagle ia BW if I can not see neither Belle or Lib.

Just getting on for a quick greeting and wishes for a great weekend. Have a lot to do today. Last minute packing and house cleaning. I always like to leave a clean house to come home to.

Taking the laptop, of course, and hope to have wifi at Sante Fe. So, have a great day....I'll check back in later.

Mits said...

pandas at NZ have big bags of stuffing, probably treats inside...Mei has opened hers, Tian is still trying to figure it out...

Mema Jo said...

Mei is really giving the bag a shaking!
That is so interesting to watch! They
are pretty good at figuring out things!

Mema Jo said...

Look at the shot at the SD zoo....

Mits said...

Mei is getting tired. She often lays down and eats right before she takes a nap:)

Mema Jo said...

I bet they like their Honey Crates best!

Mits said...

I have the Daniel's multiple cam up, and see pandas at NZ, SD and Memphis

Mits said...

lol...Tian is still struggling, Mei went outside to eat some bamboo

Mema Jo said...

I also have Daniel's cams up.
It is great & convenient to see all of them on one screen.

Mema Jo said...

Bai is in a roly poly mood!

Mema Jo said...

Checking out the penguins down at the zoo. They are sitting along the edge
One jumped into the water...

Mema Jo said...

Helen - do they ever have other things in the penguin area. That one looked like it had a heck of a wing span.

Mema Jo said...

Looked more like a pelican. Honest!

Mits said...

I don't know, are you watching the penquins at the Baltimore zoo cam?

stronghunter said...

Good morning. Did not go to eye doctor this morning. The appointment was at 8:00, so there was no way to call prior to going and they had said they could not check out insurance on the weekend anyway.

I do not think I will call them again today.

Judie, I thought of your "wannabe adults" when my seniors started fussing again about assigned seats. I heard one outraged comment about how "next year we'll be able to do whatever we want!" I thought about how I, as an adult for a very long time, teach students assigned to me in an assigned classroom before I go do my required cafeteria duty in an assigned spot, etc., etc., etc. I did not explain that. Some things have to be learned from experience.

And then, to top it off, I can't get an assigned time for an eye exam without the required insurance card. If they only understood the freedoms they have now! But they do not. That is the nature of the young. Maybe they would not want to grow up if they knew the whole story. And then again, they just enjoy fussing.

Not that I would want to be a teenager again--or a college senior, either.

Did not watch Letterman, either. Just went to bed.

Glad to know that you are not spending all of your class time taking exams, Andrea. I wasn't trying to criticize your professors, I just never heard of so many tests, but I realize you have to learn the specialized terminology.

Lynn, really close call on your childbirth experience. But it turned out well, thank goodness.

Mits said...

almost forgot...yes, Happy Birthday to Carolyn:):)

hedgie said...

Oh, Loretta, how awful......how would those scavengers even know what was going on? Too bad the rangers couldn't catch them and prosecute.
Didn't know you had antique cars---what do you all have???? If he would be interested, I'll bring and let Frank see the stuff about the Norwalk!

Mema Jo said...

Lynn, events like that frustrate me to no end! There isn't any real excuse for it happening and I would not be paying any fees when it is the bank's fault. Not a nice b-day present!

Mema Jo said...

Jim - I guess the other 3 eggs will soon hatch. They said she laid 4.

Mema Jo said...

Now I will excuse myself once more and get ready for my day!

Juggling Math Teacher

This is one of our former math teachers! He is a very intelligent man, and I think he has gone on to advance his degree and become a college professor. I wonder if he might have a future as a performer instead!

movin said...

Sorry to hear about the Credit Union mess up.

I haven't had that happen for a long time now, and I didn't even know it was possible with the computers and the identification cards, etc.

But when I was just starting banking my own money...long before computers, the local Bank of America would mix up my deposits and my Mom's to her account too often for our satisfaction.

I can't recall when the computer last made a mistake like that.... A few times I thought it had, but it turned out I hadn't entered something or I made a math mistake.

What a beautiful day! Hello everybody:) Glad to see such nice weather for all the outdoor activities around here today. Kid is at Hershey park and it's a great day for that.
I still have One hummer here:) he has the whole garden and all the feeders to himself.
Off to work, trying to scrounge up enough flowers to do one last mkt. tomorrow. Lost my clippers tho- bit of an issue, probably laying in the garden somehwere..so I'm off to find them.(I hope)

stronghunter said...

My poor brain is so full of names, I really need assigned seating so I can keep them all straight. It also helps when I have a sub. They appreciate order and organization.

Kids want to convince me that I am just a silly old woman and need to let them have their way. Ain't gonna happen.

hedgie said...

I told her to tell them to send letter of explanation to the bounced-check recipients, too!! They tried to charge her $20 fee for a $6 check, and then again for the truck payment which is THEIR loan!

Mema Jo said...

Sneaked back in- Shirley, that video of contact juggling is AWESOME !
Couldn't take my eyes off those balls.

hedgie said...

Jim, human still has to enter info into computer, I guess!!! Last year the gas company put my payment onto someone else's account!

hedgie said...

Shirley, YouTube down for maintenance---will have to watch it later!

stronghunter said...

We had a faculty performance a couple of years ago, and he was amazing. I remember his comments about the contact juggling being harder to learn.

stronghunter said...

On info in computers being wrong: A few years ago, I noticed my middle initial on my tax form was wrong. Central Office told me that it did not matter. I said that I wanted it fixed. Central Office said it had to be my fault it was wrong to begin with. It must have always been wrong, and I should have told them already.

I went back and looked at my papers, and the change had taken place a couple of months before, so someone must have just punched a key when they were viewing records.

You do wonder why Central Office person would not just say, "Oh, I see that it's wrong. Thanks for telling us. I'll fix it!"

hedgie said...

Wow, Shirley, that is truly awesome!! Thanks.

stronghunter said...

Glad you finally got to see it, Lynn.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
Good Morning/Afternoon, depending on what part of the country you call home!
Shirley, I love the contact juggling video! That guy is GOOD!!! Bet he could start a whole new career in someplace like Vegas.
BTW, don't worry--I know you weren't criticizing my professors. That many exams IS unusual, but I think they do it so everyone actually studies the material every week. Lots of students there have 40 hr/wk day jobs, and they might be tempted to let it slide, otherwise. Interesting comments by your students. All I can say is, just you wait, kids. You've got it pretty easy now, but just you wait. (WAKE UP CALL!!!) LOL :o]

stronghunter said...

Yes, Andrea, I just had to chuckle to myself. A large part of teaching (or parenting) is weathering that kind of silliness and not getting drawn into an argument. They are the kid and you are the adult. They have to suck it up and follow the rules.

hedgie said...

Shutting down now. Time to clear off table to get ready to set it, and start cooking. Chicken Cacciatore, salad and garlic bread on menu, plus homemade mini-pizzas for the grands. Cake is iced.
Check in with you all tonight. Have a nice afternoon!

stronghunter said...

Enjoy your celebration, Lynn!

Ms Bookworm said...

Oh--HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CAROLINE!!! Hope it's a good one, in SPITE of the credit union fiasco.

My Hubby is about to have a meltdown this morning himself. Our newer car, a 2004 Honda Accord, suddenly started doing some things that seemed like transmission problems about a week ago. Hesitating to go into next gear, then 'clunk'(!), and suddenly wanting to take off like a jackrabbit.
Our extended warranty just ended about a month ago. Took car into dealership this morning, and they called and said we need a new transmission, to the tune of over
$4,000!!!!!! We talked to the service manager, explained that we really can't afford it (we can't!), and we have a 1994 Accord with over 208,000 miles on it, that's never had a transmission hiccup, not even once!
We have an excellent service record on this car, and the warranty JUST ran out a month ago. Long story short, we got the guy to give us the phone # for the regional Honda corporate guy (the number they NEVER give out!), and we're going to call HIM on Monday to see what happens. Service Mgr. thinks we have a "very good chance" of having Honda foot the bill. Funny thing, I just printed up a news article that was on the internet in our local paper about a woman whose Honda (slightly older than ours) took off with her while she was running errands, jumped 4 different curbs, and ended up crashing into a mobile home. She said the accelerator seemed to have stuck--it just took off with her! Hmmmmm... Anyway, if you guys are prompted, please say some prayers for us so we don't have to pay that gigantic bill! Our savings account is nonexistent at the moment, and the EDD says my new UI extension hasn't been approved yet. I gotta wait till I hear from them with more paperwork.
We've left the car at the dealership, so Honda can't say we did more damage by driving it around more. Praying that SOMETHING works out here! Arggg!
Thanks for your prayers!!!!!!

stronghunter said...

Susan is coming tonight. She is in charge of planning our birthday celebrations for tomorrow. I hope we are actually going to celebrate both Kathryn and Rus's birthdays. I put Susan in charge because I had my hands full with doctors and insurance issues. Keep your fingers crossed that it works out.

Getting my 4 adult children together can be very complicated. Rus, bless him, is a wild card. He does not always answer messages.

Ms Bookworm said...

Sorry to talk so long--I'll shut up now. Need to do (you guessed it!) more homework anyway. Will check back in a little later to see what's happening. Thanks, you guys. :o]

stronghunter said...

Prayers for you, Andrea.

Once when my life was upside down, one of my good friends commented about how life can just be "one damn thing after another." That is certainly true.

ceil said...

Good afternoon all. Happy Birthday to Carolyn. As Jo said we are so glad to meet her mom. She is one special lady.

ceil said...

Tech is coming tomorrow for computer. Can get some things but not others. Jo I could not get the Baltimore zoo open. Jim thanks for the falcon pic. Messy little birds but cute. BBL

stronghunter said...

Hi Ceil! So good to see you!

I can't get the Baltimore Zoo, either.

stronghunter said...

Must go do some chores.

stronghunter said...

Still here, but must go soon. Ceil, did you get a new computer?

ceil said...

Hi Shirley had to leave for a while. Shirley glad it was not just me. This is a new computer Jubby and I screwed it up and cannot fix it. 2 weeks and counting. Just hope new baby comes before that weekend.

ceil said...

Off to do some work before Church.

stronghunter said...

I think something has to be downloaded to get that site. I had the same problem with a Florida site--the one with all the plants in the nest, and Will helped me download that program, but this seems to be the same one. Maybe my computer does not like it. Don't know about yours.

ceil said...

Right now my computer doesn't like much. As long as I get my e-mails, some of the cams and talk to everyone. I am happy. I think I have fall fever. Don't want to do anything but be outside. Talk later.

stronghunter said...

Yes . . . Hope everything works out for you and your family, Ceil.

Ms Bookworm said...

Thanks so much for the prayers, Shirley! You and your friend are right. Hubby's grandmother put it SO well--"It's a great life, if you don't weaken!" 'Ain't' that the truth! Well, I'm just hanging in there, waiting to see what happens...meanwhile, back to the homework! Thanks again.

stronghunter said...

Hi!

Just got news that my loveseat will arrive on 10/7 and my recliner will arrive on 10/8. Have been e-mailing with furniture guy.

Also got information from both of my online courses, so I will be working on those courses soon.

Judie said...

Well, here I am in case you all have been looking for me.

Finished another exam. Only need to proof read as these questions are made up from my oh-so-creative criminal mind.

Happy birthday, Carolyn. So sorry about the money mix up. Had that happen to me many years ago and insisted the bank send a letter of explanation to each business to clear my pristine reputation.

Shirley, I hope the birthday celebration goes well tomorrow. Even if things get a little dicey, at least you all, and maybe Rus, will have time to spend together. Oh, don't we wish we could cast a a pox on stupid administrators, lazy students, and salespeople who treat us poorly?

Lolly, know you must be so excited about the trip and so busy getting packed. Everyone will be well and at 100% when you return. Just relax and enjoy and, if you can, keep us updated.

Andy, I'm sorry about the car. Do contact the corporate representative and don't be afraid to mention that you might go public about the need for a nation-wide recall because of the accelerator thing. Nothing wrong with a little blackmail -- um, I mean pressure. Prayer for renewed U.I.

Ceil, hope you get the computer fixed. So annoying. We've become completely dependent on the dang things.

Hope Wanda had a bang-up day at the shop and Meagan had a bumper flower business, and Sharon is even more beauteous.

Okay, talked enough to bore you all to tears. Will go check critter cams and return tonight.

Cheers,
Judie

Judie said...

Terrific news, Shirley. In time for Thanksgiving festiviies - yippee!

Yep, if we don't weaken. Words of wisdom.

stronghunter said...

Hey, Judie, I found a cool new use for my digital camera. I had filled up two sections of the board with instructions for my students' next essay. I usually print those things out and pass out copies, but this time I just put it up and told them to copy it. I had composed it as I wrote it, and I needed a copy, so I just took a picture and saved it to my computer. If there are any questions, I can just project it back onto the board. I guess that is the lazy way out, but I was pleased with myself.

Mema Jo said...

Eventually everything turns out for the best! Believe it and keep the faith!

Having a battle with the STINK BUGS!

Getting ready for Mass and will check in upon my return.

Anxious to see our Beautiful Eagle Eyed Sharon........

BBL

stronghunter said...

Yes, I am happy about the furniture. It will lift my spirits.

We will see what happens with the birthday bash.

floralgirl said...

Yes, the stink bugs are out in full force today:( My window screens are covered. But it is gorgeous weather outside. We are digging daffodil bulbs.

Judie said...

All quiet at the cams. Hope to see some activity tonight.

Shirley, so cool! I use document cameras that project lecture outlines onto twin screens. Concept is just like old fashioned overhead projectors but can be used for anything that needs to be projected into the lecture hall. System is multipurpose so also use for videos, DVD, etc. Sure saves a lot of paper.

stronghunter said...

I have a data projector that I can use with computers, DVD or video player, etc. But I had put all of this on the white board while I was talking to the students, but it's the requirements for the assignment, so it has to be preserved in case I need it. The technology does make the job easier.

stronghunter said...

This class has only 8 students. Much smaller than your classes!

Judie said...

Lynn, you've got mail.

stronghunter said...

Among the eight in the class, one of the guys likes to say that he would have done things differntly if only I had told him to. Gotta be ready for him.

I was thinking that I would be home in time to see our eagles, but forgot about the time zone difference.

I saw 4 Red-tails, one Northern Harrier, one Broad-winged Hawk, a coupe of Kestrels and one Eagle. Not a bad day, but I didn't snap one picture.

deb said...

Twins won, now Tigers need to lose!

Hi Deb, Ceil, Judie, Shirley, Megan, Sharon, and anyone else I am looking back to see if I missed...

magpie said...

Shirley I love that Juggling Video and have saved it to show to grandson James...
I had a book once, "Juggling for the Complete Klutz," actually I have it but gave the juggling balls to a little pal from the past. I vow to learn how to do it one day. Before I grow up.

magpie said...

Andy That is a Woof and a Half and then some about the Honda... hope you can make progress on Monday with that! Prayers, for sure, always a need for vehicle prayers on here !

magpie said...

Sounds like a great field trip, Deb ...sometimes it is nice just to gaze upon the beauty without worrying getting a great picture.

Birthday celebrations, hope it is going well with Lynn and Carolyn, and Shirley, best wishes on your celebrations Sunday.

Perfect day, and beautiful to see the Moon setting this morning, and rising this evening. Yeah, Ceil that is the happy kind of way to be !

ceil said...

Lisa from BWO has a picture that shows the sub adult eagle from yesterday. I anyone missed it. I said it was ugly and got into trouble with our Suzanne.LOL. I said I thought it was an osprey and Lisa says it looks almost like an osprey.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yes, Margy, we do grow through pain. Sometimes it feels like I should be 10 feet tall!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I didn't miss it Ceil. I was here for every funny part of it! It was a subadult eagle, right? It looked to be about 4 years old to me but I am not expert, although I do have an EAGLE-EYE!

Missed the teenage eagle. Wonder if it would qualify for acne medication co-pay?

Sharon, you look loverly. Doesn't it make you just feel so good to get the "do" did? Loverly!

Haven't seen the moon yet. Will look soon. No activity at the critter cams for me. Will check them again in a few.

Hope Lolly can get some sleep tonight. I would be up all atwitter with anticipation.

Okay, off the look at the moon and the critter cams.

Sorry about how things turned out at the Park. I think I missed the part about the police, but understood the part about the Park Ranger and the deer. There is a devious eye all around just waiting and watching for an opportunity to do something unkind, I hate to say that, but I sure learn that at work with the calls we take.
Hope Tomorrow will be a better day, and that Frank brought you some treats from the events today.

Well, I think I'll be back tomorrow. Want to get a few pages of pleasure reading in before the sandman arrives. So, turning my light out but leaving the night light on for others.

I would like to have such pretty flowers at my house! I took the picture to share with the faculty because they were all complimenting the flowers and the kids who planted them.

Good late evening y'all. My get up and go has got up and went....really dragging. B-day celebration went well, except that I forgot to put the garlic bread on the table!! Had left it in the oven to stay warm since Christie and Shannon were running a bit late.and plumb forgot it...drat! Some dug into it after the fact anyway.
Still need to check email.
Sharon, ove the care-free, easy look of your new do---very pretty framing your face like that!
Shirley, so glad the furniture is finally almost to you.

Costume Lady said...

Oh No! The beach trip is the same weekend as The TRAIN CONCERT...which is it going to be Sharon, the BEACH or TRAIN?

Wanda, I thought we were going to keep that last part our "little secret"! :)

Thanks Mits and Lynn!

Hey Jo- yeah I'm going to market tomorrow- my last one until November.
The train station is straihgt thru towwn on the main st. past the Yellow Brick bank,on the right hand side at the train tracks. A beautifful building, we have had parties there before- used to have a great Halloween party there. And, Mason's Mom had a big hand in getting it restored.

Hi all! Have been reading through all the comments. Does not pay to get behind! It's been a busy day, but we are all loaded and ready to go. Laurel brought Jacob to us. Bless her heart, but it really was good for her to get out of the house. She stayed for supper and then left. I got Jacob bathed and in bed. He is really excited.

She said when I called her a little while ago, that the first thing Joseph said was "Wahoo...I am the only child!" Then when she put him to bed she told him to be quiet so Jacob would fall asleep. Then acted like she forgot he was not there when he told her. Silly mommy!

Shirley, it will be like Christmas to get your new furniture. Yea!

Andrea...prayers for all your concerns.

I have to go now. Need to make some pesto for some pasta that we are going to have while gone. It is the only thing I have left to do.

We will be at Sante Fe Skies RV Park in Sante Fe. Not too far of a drive to Albuquerque. They do have Wifi, so I will be able to get on. Just hope the weather is good. I know there is some chance for showers.

Going to make pesto. Will be back to say good nite.

This has been a good, although long day. Need some sleep.

GOOD NIGHT
SWEET DREAMS

Lynn, glad you and Caroline both made it through your ordeal. That, I am sure made her very precious to you. Hope both of you had a Happy Day!

Andy, so sorry to hear about Honda---good luck.
Who said the "B" word??? I'm going to be Shar's new best friend and be a bit upset with htose who have been already!---and I bet Megan is, too---we ALL need to get to the beach!
Can't keep my eyes open. Already had bath as soon as everyone left---needed to soak my aching back. Please encourage all young ladies in your lives to stand up straight and tall---
I was so tall when I was a teen that I kept hunched over to "hide" and boy, do I pay the piper for bad posture now.
See you all tomorrow. Sleep well. Prayers going up.

P.S. Lolly and Jack---have a great and safe trip. Know Jacob will really enjoy the balloons!!

I am going to market tomorrow with Jenny & Kristen! WHoo HOo.....

Thanks all for the well wishes for this trip. Like I said, it has been years in the planning and we would have all been so disappointed
if we had gotten sick. Still could, but continue to be positive.

He will definitely remember the trip. I wrote a book for Joseph after we returned from his trip. Will do the same for Jacob. With a digital camera and a computer you can make fantastic memory books.

Having a G&T and relaxing now that we are all ready to go. TCU won tonight. Norma, you will have to watch the Cowboys for us tomorrow. We will be listening on the radio.

Probably will not have wifi tomorrow night, so...I will be talking with you from Sante Fe Monday evening.

Bye all.....see ya!

Well, I was just chatting with a girl I graduated high school with on Facebook. She watches our cam and reads the blog to see pics of the babies when there are some. Small world!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Lolly, you all have a really safe and fun trip! You are not going to the beach, right? :)

Judie said...

Lolly,

Please, please don't make a wrong turn and end up crashing into the train on the beach -- it's a Sharon thing. Enjoy!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yeah, cause then we would have to be Calling All Angels with Drops of Jupiter in our hair, waiting to Meet Virginia! :)

Good Morning, wow, the night bandit stole the night away...
For any early risers, with clear skies, you can catch the Full Moon setting in the West, and maybe see Venus in the East....Orion, Pleaides, and other beauties in the pre-dawn skies too. ☺

Headed to work, last 12 hour shift for a few days.

Best wishes for a Great Day, with hopes for a lot of Eagle Action...

See you much much later tonight.
xo ☺ ♥

Yep, the moon is bright and beautiful out there this morning. A chilly 45° here. Have a good day everybody!

Good morning.

Margie, hope this will be a quiet day although that can make the time drag. Still, don't want a lot of stuuuupids out there.

GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!

hedgie said...

Good morning, Fine fowl friends.
COLD 44 degrees here this morning---think that's the lowest we've had so far. Brrr. 1-4 ft. of snow predicted in the Rockies! Glad I'm not there.

Wonderful article in our paper today about migrating bird counts nearby. It isn't up on website yet...but will post it when it is. Group was actually counting hawks, but saw an osprey as well as an eagle. They say that they have counted 70 eagles this year----of course, I dispute that per say---because they could have been seeing the same eagle(s) over and over again!!

Told you I would post the interesting article about stink bugs when it was online---and here it is:

Good Morning All

Getting ready to head over to Market.

Good morning, everyone!

Good morning all!

Susan is here! She's on her laptop right now.

The mockingbird is sitting on the chimney providing fireplace music this morning.

I am really happy that Susan is here now. The Crazy Woman has just been told that she has lost her job. They suspended her first, and have now fired her after conducting an investigation. They told Susan's boyfriend that Susan should leave town for a few days, based upon what the Crazy Woman said. That really scares me.

Boyfriend is being watched over at work for his protection. I do not like this. I wish I could keep Susan here, but she has to work on Monday and feels she can't let this woman run her life.

Crazy Woman has said she is getting a lawyer. I wish she would. Let her spend her energy that way.
