Associate Press online has an update on the D.C. shooting. Man refused a traffic stop, hit two officers (minor injuries), and refused to put down his gun, now deceased.
In Hidey withdrawal. Sure would love to see a feather or hear a screech.
Lynn - had a yummy dinner too. Fresh yellow squash and 'maters with grilled chicken. Love the summer veggies! Found a zucchini on my plant yesterday...can't wait!
Good update, Jim. Isn't that sunset picture a dream? What's your temp today? My daughter says she is freezing!! Thought Andrea said something about 100 degrees......
Adding one fawn video---it is "processing"----when it's done, I can get it officially on here! Already put some pics on---gonna eat din din---BBL Got another video that is not so good---made to record the sounds, but there's a tiny glimpse of Mom deer & a snort as she headed for baby----might put it on later
Tomorrow is the Yankton area women's kayak trip and I got invited along. They kayak from the dam, stop halfway for dinner, then head into Yankton. It should be fun, I hope. I will know 3 of the people going. I am not bringing my camera with so many boats around. I don't want one to crash into me and tip the camera in the water.
Deeb, that sounds like a great trip! Maybe someone you know will have a small camera if something neat shows up! We have a new Patuxent Water Trail.Starts way north of the Park and you can kayak or canoe all the way down to the Chesapeake Bay at Solomon's Island. There are pullover camping sites in each county. The River itself is 100 mi. long, but don't think it's accessible at the top.Your kind of trip!
Mits, I have decided when I'm ready for the home (won't be long since I'm talking to animals LOL), I want to bunk at the Zoo!
Fubby thinks I've lost it. Lynn, I know you and others who live near or frequent woods have heard those fawn sounds. But I never have. Guess you just have to be at the right place at the right time!
Anyone with free time this Friday and needing something to do... a few of us locals on the spur of the moment are planning to go over to NCTC for lunch after visiting the Nest Tree around 10:30am. I just need to send names to Security tomorrow so send me an email if you can join us Mits,Ceil & hubby & Mary Margaret (sister of Mits & Ceil), Lynn, (maybe) Megan and Jo are going. All others are Welcomed!
Ah, so typical as I am bringing up the rear in saying goodnight. Sleep well everyone. Prayers for all! Maybe Hidey will grace us with a visit tomorrow.
Loretta, the fawn video is wonderful! George was fascinated. Think he would be afraid of a fawn, though. He's a scary cat at heart. Know he would be afraid of momma deer.
Loretta, don't think you need to worry about talking to animals. That little fawn was answering you. It stopped running away and listened to you. You must have just the right tone in your voice.
GOOD MORNING ELKINS BILL!!---CONGRATS---You are our #1 -- EAGLE DAD--today & every day!!----Another question!---Who is obligated to remove the WIND TURBINES when they 'have finished their run--so to speak!----You know the GUYS come in & sell---then leave!---
LORETTA!!---AWESOME FAWN VIDEO!---That fawn was older than the one I saw in my lawn!---Plus MOM was with him---He could hardly stand up!-----You video is unbelievable!!!---You should be so proud!!!---Thanks for sharing!!

Was just watching a doe and her twins....still with so many spots that they are more freckled than spotted! Too dark in the woods to get pics, tho'.
Hi there,

Judie
Maggies sound good to me!
Judie - that's why I do videos...for those withdrawal pains!
Lynn - had a yummy dinner too. Fresh yellow squash and 'maters with grilled chicken. Love the summer veggies! Found a zucchini on my plant yesterday...can't wait!
And we THANK YOU, Paula! It really does help:)
Hey, that zucchini might be ready already! Better go check!
My Mom used to say the kids were growing like zucchinis! :)
All menus sound good!!!
Just wish I lived where I could get these things fresh and local year-round!
Two new Smirnoff Ice flavors: Mango and Passion Fruit....both VERY good!

Video loaded. I should put tape on my mouth! LOL
Loved the photos and video of the deer
Especially the spotty fawns.
With the still cam now working IF Hidey
ever comes to the nest we can get a pic or two to put over into the Momster Album for the month of July.
Loretta, I loved your deer pictures and video.
I was sitting on the couch relaxing, thinking about the front yard. So I got it mowed to! Yeah, no thoughts of having to mow tomorrow.
awww, Loretta, how cute:)
that is good Deb, now you can relax

How was the zoo today?
zoo was crowded and warm....people do not do well in the warm weather....they get tired and cranky:)
and some people try to push the limits of my patience, but they can't get me down:)
no news on the red pandas yet, still have part of the exhibit roped off, but from the top of the trail they were not visible, stayed in their AC dens
I know what you mean about hot weather! Especially when there are people everywhere, it seems to make it seem even hotter.

I like talking to animals, they don't give you any smart a@# remarks back:)
I hadn't ever heard them before, Loretta, I've never been that close to a fawn before.
You have that right, Mits!
Loreeda, the boys and I enjoyed your video of the fawn. Joseph was really impressed. He went and got his mommy.
Seafood dinner was wonderful. I had left overs so I will have a great lunch tomorrow. YUM!
After eating we walked on the beach looking for seashells. Joseph swam.
Time for me to say good night. Computer is right beside Joseph's bed and he is ready to go to sleep. Nite all!
Sweet dreams!
This evening is getting away from me!
Got my errands run.... and the clock is ticking away.
Funny what Judi said about our comments being interpreted by others!
lol
Lowreeda, you surely were at the right place at the right time!
Deb, sounds like a good trip. Glad it's happening on your day off.
Time for me to read and relax. Night everyone.
We don't go until 5:30 and I work until 4:00, so it works for me, Lynn.
Evening walk on the beach! Enjoy!!
Have fun tomorrow Deb!
Good night, Lolly! Sweet dreams.

Loretta's video was just precious. I have seen fawns before, but have never heard them. Sweet!
Jo, I don't know what to think about your Eagle-Owl. I think I have heard Deb speak of them, but that didn't look real???
I'm headed to bed too.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

Judie
Um, I think I just turned out the lights. Night everyone.
Judie
Well, I am here stumbling around in the dark because you guys turned out the lights @#$^&*()%!
Just got back from bridge. Din't win, oh well!
Loretta, the fawn video is wonderful! George was fascinated. Think he would be afraid of a fawn, though. He's a scary cat at heart. Know he would be afraid of momma deer.
Judie, I'm ROFLMAO at your comments about George.
And, George wasn't worried when you turned the lights off. He sees pretty well in the dark.
Loretta, don't think you need to worry about talking to animals. That little fawn was answering you. It stopped running away and listened to you. You must have just the right tone in your voice.
Good night. I guess I can safely turn out the lights for sure now.

Cam at Lowes is on the two fledged birds. Water in background.
Maybe not--I think it's another view of the nest. One on nest. One on branch.
Lowes: Adult osprey arrived at nest and is calling. Maybe trying to get other child to come home? Maybe calling mate to bring food?
Maybe both?
Another osprey answering.
