right now it is dark, with the infrared light shining on the middle of the nest, and a spider is beginning to weave his web...you are tuning into the end of the seasons, kestner.
Good night to all turning in. Mits, VA side of Great Falls is still FREE!!! Never heard anything about our nest being on C-Span....wonder when, why, etc.??? lkester, the nest is empty 95% of the time now. Eaglet returns for some feedings, but mostly is up higher in the tree or nearby. (s)he will be gone for good soon. Parents will start nestorations in Dec. in prep for late Jan./early Feb. egg-laying.
Sorry, was chatting on the phone for a long while with the college kid :)
Hedgie - that photographer that you provided the link to also has a blog...trying to find if for Mits....but think I have the link at work, can't seem to find it here.
Audubon Society says: At Great Falls, the Potomac River cascades through a narrow gorge. Both the Maryland and Virginia sides of the river have parks with hiking trails along the falls. On the Maryland side, eagles nest by the river above the parking lot; black crowned night herons fish below the falls at dusk.
ikestner--The eaglet fledged on May 30. It sometimes comes back, or occasionally the parents come to the nest. You can get a much better view of the nest in daylight, but it is lighted at night.
That is an interesting forum you found Lynn. We need to tell Norma that a teacher is looking for an apartment in Romney! I'll have to read some more of the items tomorrow. I think it was Flyboy that they called Hidey.
Time for this gal to get moving down the hall to bed.......
Good Night All Prayers for all our need being said and thankfulness being given for all we have received! (((hugs))) ♥
The Duke nest is empty so wondering if Tiny has taken first actual flight or just visiting some higher branch. No Hidey, either. Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Good Morning All! Another Tues in our lives to make the best of! Oldest daughter is visiting now - this evening is the departure of the Germany Gang! Sad but oh the past weeks they have been here have been unspeakably fantastic! Memories just by closing your eyes! God is Good!
I'll be in and out while Kristen is here so keep the comments coming!

I stopped worrying about capping the outlets when my older children brought me the caps and explained that they had "finished using the electricity now."
By the time the twins came along, it was really hard to keep up wit all the action. One of the twins did manage to stick a key in the outlet. Sparks flew, but he wasn't hurt.
Good morning! (Still morning here!) Was going to get on the blog this morning, but read the paper on the patio and that then lead to working in the yard. Just finished my breakfast. LOL I get soooo distracted when outdoors! However, I finally came in and dear Jack says lets get back to exercising. So now I will be walking in a few minutes.
Lynn, did you get my email I sent late last night?
Have to leave. The van is ready at the shop. Yay! Now let's see how much more this van is costing us. I do believe it is time for a new vehicle. Anyone got some extra $$$$?
Speaking of which....8 day cat-up-a-tree saga in Hagerstown ended yesterday when a tree climber went up and snatched the cat. Previous attempts by Humane Society and fire department were unsuccessful. Property owner wouldn't let a tree company bring bucket truck onto lawn. Apparently the climber volunteered his efforts. I'm not a cat person, but glad the dumb thing didn't die!
Whoopee! Have the van back. Mechanic here solved the last problem. Knock on wood! Something to do with the alarm system being wired into the ignition. Will put a new vehicle on a back burner, but will probably start looking into what we need to get that is not a van but will pull the trailer.
Lynn, M. drives a Sequoia. I keep thinking it is time for him to get a new car and sell us (cheap) his car. LOL He only travels by plane, so he has low mileage.
I don't get much out of modern-day comedy shows or movies, but gotta tell you....watching Ice Age: The Meltdown, and it is really cute. Not quite as good as Ice Age was, but still funny. Third one, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, is out in theaters now.
I am home and slam wore out! I knew I wasn't back to full strength yet, but didn't expect to be this tired. We say 4 eagles!!! I just love seeing them. We almost missed the first 2, but one moved and Mary spotted them. Lots of kingfishers, Great Blue's and various little birds. I'll look at my pictures later.
well I really had not planned to watch the Michael Jackson memorial, but once I started could not stop, it was really good, except jmho, the politicians who spoke made it into a race thing, but what do you expect form the likes of them....he little daughter spoke at the very end, what a sweetheart, felt so sad for her
Ha Ha - I have a brother in law who might be going to Sturgis SD for the motorcycle event this year! He has a black leather jacket complete with fringe and pink beads from somewhere - it's origin is Native American I think.. Hedgie: that would be Dwain !
Hey there Shirley - I have one of those big mouse pads too! Awesome addition to the computer set up here....along with the coffee mugs and a few other specialties!
Mits I wanted to go look too, both evening and early morning, but could not leave at the time....hope to catch a sighting in the next few days! Thursday morning I will be off so that will be my best chance, I will be watching your weather forecasts.
I did see four planets though: Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Mercury!
Have you and all the family in mind....we have enjoyed all the news and views of your visits with the Germany Gang and all the other family members...might have to make a Field Trip to your place to see all the photos!
Yes, Margy, my mouse kept slipping off the edge of the old mousepad. I was wondering if the canvas totes have been stored with catnip. George keeps sniffing it, even stuck his head inside it and sniffed around. Maybe he just likes the smell of new canvas. Maybe he smells birds?
Speaking of cats, does anyone else have a cat that likes olives? George likes to roll them around the floor and chase them. Eventually he eats them. He is not a kitten by a long shot, but he plays with olives.
HI folks Not sure if this is on here earlier or not and have to get ready for my next to last shift at work but got this message from Anne Marie she asked me to post on the bLOG here it is.
Gloria would you or Bev please blog on the monsters that I am still kicking after surgery. I will have my daughter post for me.I have surgery at 6:30 am and should be around about noon. thanks so much....
Hi and hugs to all.. oh and short pandas spent too much time in a tree stump during their growing times is my comment.
short panda nap = 20 minutes....Shirley, Paula has some beautiful dogs, that cat might be sniffing.....Yes, I believe Lynn already did mention AM sugery on blog earlier today.
Glo, we were just wondering last evening when your big day was!!! Bet you are very nostalgic, aren't you? Congrats on the big R! I'm confused.....A-M's surgery IS tomorrow, right?? Message said alive and kickin', but then said it is at 6:30. I had sent her an email this morning letting her know I was thinking of and praying for her.
Just got some shots of a fledged blue jay...heard a lot of mewling and looked out and there it ws in the yew. Can't tell how good they are until I download...foliage and shadows play tricks!! I stopped when I heard parents start to squawk! Have a good shift, Margy....hope it's quiet. Way to go, Dwain!!!!
An eagle doing a demonstration flight at a Marlins' game did not return to the handler right away....sat on a surface for a while and then flew aorund the stadium a few times before returning to her! Like the sportscaster said..."it's a bald eagle; it can do whatever it wants to do!"
We got a really nice view of the ISS here in Fredericksburg last night. My son was headed outside with his binoculars. I asked him what he was doing, and he said he was going to look at the ISS, so I joined him. There were a few clouds, but not enough to block the view.
I took a long Panda nap! Now I am off to a ballgame. I didn't take many pictures, just a few kingfishers and a few eagles. The GBHeron didn't cooperate.
Fledging: The oldest eaglet fledged, taking his first flight away from the nest, on June 25. He was followed by the second oldest on June 30, and the youngest eaglet took his maiden flight on July 6.
I would not think a leopard would make a nest of straw, but that leopard is very busy with something that looks like straw. Whatever it is doing, it is quite interesting.
Hi everyone. Grandson has gone to bed so I wanted to check in. If anyone is interested, the PA Game Commission has put up a live video cam of a bluebird nest with 3 eggs.
Here's the link: http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?a=521&q=176641
The Delta eaglet seems quieter that Hidey. It did squeal when the parent arrived, though. Maybe it is younger than Hidey was when she got so aggressive.
got some things to do before bed...so am signing off for the night...can't wait to see the Asian Trail animals tomorrow:)Good night everyone.....prayers for in need.
Good evening! By the time I get everything done in the evening everyone else is going to bed! I have so much to do! We came home Saturday and we leave again next Monday.
I am home from the game, it was tied 2-2, but got called due to weather. I think they jumped the gun, storm is north of here. The wind really came up though.
My pictures from today are up, nothing spectacular, but a couple of fun ones.
Hi, Deb! Glad you had a day off and enjoyed yourself! Did you hear about the pro game yesterday that ended up with a 24-1 score, or something close to that?! Winning team scored 10 or 11 runs in the first inning!!!
Been to the mountains....now we are heading to the beach. Going to a RV resort right on the beach, Taking the trailer for us. Laurel and the boys are going and we have a cabin reserved for them.
Joey is working hard. He is building his own insurance company and can not take the time off, or afford to give the kids vacations. We are seeing that they get to travel. Besides it is fun!
Well I did watch some new TV shows this evening. Germany gang should be on their plan - very late take off from BWI. I'll get a call tomorrow when they settle in. I am thinking of Chloe (pet bulldog) being soooo happy to see them. Prayers for AnneMarie's surgery and recovery and for Dana's Ed's health.
Good Night All! ((((hugs)))) ♥
Hope I see Hidey tomorrow! Even for just a fly in and out!

Good Morning all in Eagle Land!
I've been watching since 4 and haven't seen Hidey yet. Even Boris the spider seems to have made himself scarce.
The sun is coming up now so maybe Hidey will be flying in soon to get some breakfast.
Good morning in eagle-land,
The Duke nest is empty so wondering if Tiny has taken first actual flight or just visiting some higher branch. No Hidey, either. Hope everyone has a lovely day.
Judie
Good morning!
Hello Lori and Judie.
Paula, I got your package. I really like the nice new mouspad. My old one was too small. I know I will enjoy using the tote bag, too.
Good Morning in Eagleland and Watchers.
Good Morning Lori, Judie and Shirley so far this AM.
Watching for Hidey also. It has been awhile since I've gotten to see him/her.
Had to refresh twice to get live cam working. At first it worked. Then time up had to refresh twice to get live again.
Deb I hope the weather is great for you today. You will be in your element ( : Hope you get some pictures.

Good Morning Mits and Wanda.
Great news ty Mits for Memphis zoo.
Eaglet at BC Delta Owl is doing well this AM.
That would be wonderful, if we could watch them like we did the pandas.
Hope they do put a cam on them Mits.
Polar Bear at SD taking a swim.
Oh it is pushing a purple ball around. lol
They are not good at keeping the cam on the polar bear. Out of sight now.
Good Morning, Dana. What would we do without these wild life cams and each other? Such a wonderful distraction from unplesant things in our lives:)
well we can access them from the panda cams, but don't think they want us doing it all the time...don't want to confuse people watching....but some us when we see them put them on the cam....Their names are Sharma and Tate

Flamingo chick being fed.
Morning all. That flamingo chick is big. Standing and getting fed.
It is walking all around. They grow fast.
its like someone pours miracle grow on them...maybe they use that hormone powder;)
Morning, all!
Shirley, glad your mouse pad and tote bag arrived safely! Thank You!
Good morning, Paula. It is very nice to have a mousepad that is big enough for all the moving around my mouse does.
The tote bag looks sturdy enough to carry plenty of books and papers to school.
Love the pictures.
Good Morning All! Another Tues in our lives to make the best of! Oldest daughter is visiting now - this evening is the departure of the Germany Gang! Sad but oh the past weeks they have been here have been unspeakably fantastic! Memories just by closing your eyes! God is Good!
I'll be in and out while Kristen is here so keep the comments coming!
oh Jo, that time went fast...but memories will last a lifetime....
Good morning!
Kind of quiet here this am, isn't it?
No Norma, Sissy or Sharon...unusual for sure! Hope Norma didn't get lost in Cumberland...
These cool mornings are so nice...but hope not an indicator of early fall---fog yesterday morning sure made it seem like late Aug./Sept., tho'.
Bummer that Finland water cam is frozen again.

I don't understand the distinction between blog and forum---other than the appearance of certain sites, seems like it amounts to the same thing!
I don't understand that distinction either, Lynn..looks the same to me....love the name Flyboy, really fits his personality
I put this up earlier, Lynn, re: Finland nest....
7.7.2009: Seili island excavator has damaged telephone cable. As a result, all data traffic island have so far blocked.
that was from the Finland nest site....
I saw your post, Mits, thanks. Wonder IF they'll get it repaired? Would think so, if it affects all communications!
I'm sure they are in no hurry...
Mits, you have mail!

Just had a quick look, one eaglet each at Two Harbors and West End in the nests.
Things are looking good at Wildwatch too...herons, bluebirds, burrowing owls and Osprey...and Lake Washington ☺
Funny, Shirley - maybe catnip was part of the fiber that went into the production !

Just checked email...she responded...sounds like she checks in today, surgery in am, and 2-3 day stay. Her daughter will be there with her.

Anne Marie prayers that your surgery goes well
Lynn nice story. He is right it is an eagle it can do what it wants. LOL

I would have to let a truck in my yard if George got stuck in a tree, but maybe I could just bring my tote bag or an olive and he'd come right down.
I took a long Panda nap! Now I am off to a ballgame. I didn't take many pictures, just a few kingfishers and a few eagles. The GBHeron didn't cooperate.

Another MT nest! Duke Farms! WHoo Hoo for Tiny!!!
Fledging: The oldest eaglet fledged, taking his first flight away from the nest, on June 25. He was followed by the second oldest on June 30, and the youngest eaglet took his maiden flight on July 6.
good for tiny:)
wonder where Steve is with a new thread today?
Mits, would you know what the clouded leopard is doing at the NZ? It looks like it is building a nest.
I would not think a leopard would make a nest of straw, but that leopard is very busy with something that looks like straw. Whatever it is doing, it is quite interesting.
Prayers for Anna_Marie's surgery and good healing.
Hedgie did you hear anything on scanner about fire trucks in my area....?
I'll check Shirley
straw is just some bedding that keepers put out for them...both are there now, and grooming each other...they are magnificent animals
they keep that up, we may have to draw the curtains
Tai is the male and Mook is the female
I'll have to look again.
They've effectively pulled the curtain--or gone under the covers now. Can't see much but straw.
Thanks, Mits.
your welcome, they ran off...:)
No, Dana, didn't hear....was watching TV and then on phone. Sorry!
Downloaded pics...only a couple any good...and not great. Will post on my blog.
The leopards are peacefully sleeping now. They look very happy.
Good evening everyone. I saw our lovely Hidey come into the nest a few minutes ago. Nice treat!
And POOF!
Sharon, you lived up to your name--"eagle-eyed"; ypu might have been the only one to see Hidey this time.
Hi everyone. Grandson has gone to bed so I wanted to check in. If anyone is interested, the PA Game Commission has put up a live video cam of a bluebird nest with 3 eggs.
Here's the link: http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?a=521&q=176641
thanks PA, will check it out tomorrow during daylight
rainy a.m. at Finney's nest, mom trying to keep 3 chicks dry
Delta eaglet getting fed.
Got a comment on my pics from someone I've never heard of....what would that mean?
that is such a good clear cam, with great audio, isn't it, Shirley
maybe a lurker, Lynn..
Yes, it is a good picture. I have always wondered if the nest is near a road. It sounds like I hear traffic.
looks like the osprey chick at BWO is sleeping solo tonight, it has been alone for the last couple of hours.
yes, it has traffic noises all the time I have watched it
Mits, is that the osprey cam at Cambridge?
yes, Shirley it is....Blackwater Osprey cam...BWO
The Delta eaglet seems quieter that Hidey. It did squeal when the parent arrived, though. Maybe it is younger than Hidey was when she got so aggressive.
Thanks, Mits.
Lots of little chirps from the Delta eaglet.
got some things to do before bed...so am signing off for the night...can't wait to see the Asian Trail animals tomorrow:)Good night everyone.....prayers for in need.
At least, I think it is the eaglet. There are other bird sounds around there, I think.
Good night, Mits.
Sleep tight, Mits! Enjoy your zoo day tomorrow!!!
Good evening! By the time I get everything done in the evening everyone else is going to bed! I have so much to do! We came home Saturday and we leave again next Monday.
What I really need to do is work on my Colorado pictures and share them with you.
I am home from the game, it was tied 2-2, but got called due to weather. I think they jumped the gun, storm is north of here. The wind really came up though.
My pictures from today are up, nothing spectacular, but a couple of fun ones.
Lolly, forgot....where are you going next?? Just you and Jack this trip?
Time for bed here, night everyone.
Hi, Deb! Glad you had a day off and enjoyed yourself! Did you hear about the pro game yesterday that ended up with a 24-1 score, or something close to that?! Winning team scored 10 or 11 runs in the first inning!!!
As always, Deb, your shots are great!!! What kind of frog??? Looks more like a toad!
Enlarged it...yep, it's a toad!
Heading for tub w/ a book before any more MJ stuff is shown! So will say goodnight...prayers for all, especially Anne Marie and for Dana's Ed. Peace.
Frog/toad, good question. It hopped so I called it a frog! :( I liked your little fledgling, they are so cute when little.
No, I missed the game info. It would have been fun for the winning team.
Rain has started and I am off to bed, night!
Nite Deb! Need to go look at your pictures.
Nite all!
Sweet dreams!
