Wow, Hidey's growing too fast for me and soon will be gone :( I've enjoyed my addiction and will soon go through withdrawal but glad for the experience. I caught her takeoff earlier and now am hoping to see the drop landing from our toddler eagle. Questions: Do we know why the other two eggs didn't hatch? Also, is there a video of the hatching? Thanks all for your patience with us newbies. I didn't post for awhile due to time and password issues...
Aw..no Hidey in the nest tonite. darn Had to go to kid's HS awards ceremony, very impressive amount of scholarships awarded to graduating class. Nora Roberts journalism scholarship was $30,000-No A/C so it was hot, hot, hot....
One of the NBG eaglets fell out of the nest today while wingersizing. I think it happened aroun 6ish...someone here commented on it. Reese was called in.
"HE did fall out of the nest. Reese said HK jumped and knocked HE out but according to Anns video that didn't happen and Reese will review the vid when he gets time...right now he's concentrating on the Eaglet for obvious reasons.
An employee at NBG saw it happen and she said the Eaglet fell towards the ground and then caught air at the last minute...soft landing.
Reese examined HE and said there are no injuries to her and they are going to keep her overnight at Either Reese's home or Steven Livings home...whoever lives closer as to not stress the Eaglet anymore then it is.
It was running across the ground as Reese was trying to catch it.
Nuckols tree service will be there tomorrow to place the Eaglet back into the nest according to Reese."
Carol, no one saw the hatch this year. Hidey stayed hidden from us at first and that is how he got his name. First pictures that show him well were from the 15th.
Bill lives in Elkins....definitely close enough to make a trip for Open House. EagleClaw....is your name Bill, too?? You're practically at the nest already...LOL!!! Anyway, we can always use more Dadsters!! Bob, Red and Jim are our regular Dadsters, plus we have Dana's Ed and Ceil's Jim and Loretta's Frank who visit but don't blog!
Carol - the video wasn't working the weekend that Hidey hatched....we don't know why the other 2 eggs didn't hatch. The first one looked like it started to, as everyone kept seeing a black spot on it. But then that egg disappeared. The other egg that didn't hatch stayed in the nest for quite some time before it got buried in there somewhere. It may have been infertile.
We are having a bad storm here in Wyoming County. Think I will turn the computer off for now. Sweet dreams to everyone! Wonder where Hidey is at? Talk to all tomorrow.
Oh Deb, I guess I can imagine what happened, then. How awful. I don't think I'd be watching either if I had seen that happen. So far it looks like plenty of food has been available this time.
Paula, thank you so much for all of your links and videos! You're amazing at this!
Thanks Deb and Paula - that satisfies a latecomer's curiosity about our little one's history! I bet my husband's regretting showing me this sight - I am hooked! I facebooked about the sight and my husband's cousin who is a ranger and lives out west responded that he has been to this nest and that they are in the process of developing a couple nest cams.
Magpie, when I was camping this weekend, I took some pictures of some pretty wildflowers. Then when I went to try to figure out what they were, I got really confused!
Oh Deb, Now I am not sure about the barn owls at all...I don't know if they are supposed to be so different in size and now I'm afraid I was wrong about the food...but i see them come in with alot...
Maybe Hidey found out that there aren't many bugs or gnats up on the limb. Guess we'll all be watching tomorrow to see the eaglet placed back in the NBG nest. The zoom and wide angle on their cam sure answered many questions with that video.
Lynn2 - if you email me to the Eaglet Momster page, I might send you an alternate email address to send them to...sometimes works a little better for attachement for me.
You can find me on the Members page under magpiesroost.... that would go to the Yahoo email address then I could send you the other one...
There could be two osprey chicks at Wildwatch, I hope so, or it means egg #1 is probably not good. I watched it so close trying to tell and it was just too hard to see.
Good night all, I'm off to have some ice cream with my hubby! And to quote one of my favorite sayings, Until we meet again my friends, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Here is a link to the ground rescue slideshow of the Norfolk eaglet that fell out of the nest. It was posted on the Hancock Norfolk Forum. It's rather long.
The wind is blowing very hard here now and thunder and lightning all around. Don't see Hidey in the nest, but hear him nearby. Maybe if it rains on him, he will be relieved of some of those pesky bugs.
Looks to be a very nasty line of storms, weatherchannel says could be 40 to 50 mph winds, possible hail and heavy rain-gonna be a doozy, and here it comes.
I thought I heard hail, Megan. It is quite a storm...we just had a lightning strike nearby and our phones started ringing! I'm closing the blinds and turning this 'puter off. Nite, again.
Thanks for the video of the clumbsy lady bird at NBG, Paula. It looked like she put her feet down to stop on the edge of the nest but forgot to stop flapping her wings in time....
Did you notice where the first chick was?? Just as the one over the edge grabs on and begins to flap her wings, look above the glob of spider or web, and you will see him flap his wings and settle back on his branch.
I'm glad the eaglet wasn't hurt, and it will probably turn out alright.
Did Hidey never come back to the nest today?? I saw Belle in there waiting and looking for him this afternoon, but I didn't see the end of it.
Funny thing, I was just reading some comment about the lightning at Sheptown, looked at the camera and saw a bright flash...then something sounding like distant thunder clapped here! Don't know what it was, but it was timed just right.
Something again...it might be Disney Land or Knott's firing off fireworks. We can hear them, but it's usually about 45 minutes later.
It's three o'clock, no eaglet in the nest as of right now. Haven't heard anything either.
One of the three chicks at Loch of the Lowe's, seems to be, gone. Was there 24 hours ago. Cannot say for sure, and I wouldn't know which of the three it could be. The chicks there have a daring habit of getting too close to the edge of the nest. No notes in the diary nor Maine Forum, as of now. Maybe in the morning. xo Good Night...God Bless Us, Every One, and Prayers for Wellness amongst us all. xo
Hi, everyone, just checking in after catching up on the blog-- can't sleep 'cause I'm too wired after getting home from school.
gwen of s.c., I know exactly what you mean about a paralyzed butt! Mine is so numb it's pathetic!
Bozzett, saw your earlier comment about Rachel Alexandra-- I'm happy, too, that they're not going to run her. I'm almost afraid to watch lately, there have been so many tragic accidents in recent years. I think they start them way too young, and their bones can't take it! Rachel Alexandra ran so fast in the Preakness I'm not sure she should be run again without a really good rest. The really, really good ones of the past could not be allowed to run full out-- they would've done themselves damage too! Better safe than sorry, I say.
Well, think I'd better at least try to get some sleep. Prayers for all needs, and for healing where needed. 'Night all, and God Bless! Night, Hidey, wherever you are! :o]
Yo, Spidey! Hope you're paying attention! There are a bunch of moths flying around right now-- looks like good hunting for you. Ya give me the creeps, but would hate for you to starve to death! lol :o]
Morning folks. I am trying to see the NBG CAM and it is dark. Do we think they are going to try to place the eaglet that fell back in the nest this am at around 9? Is anyone else having issues viewing it? Have to get to work but wanted to see if anyone had anymore info on the baby who fell out yesterday.
MORNING YA'LL another hot one in GA 90 degrees today. hate to hear about one of the 'triplets' I usually watch them pretty much. been really busy at work and tired at home..I got to the stork site yesterday. that was very interesting
Hope all has a great day.I will be watching for infor on the NBG site
New thread posted for today :) will check back there later on this morning and will be trying to get on the NBG site as well. Hope all have a wonderful day and 'keep your tootsies dry today as storms are expected in the area here in VA and WV as well. Hope our Hidey is going to make an appearance and stay close to home during weather events!

WOW, snowman just got uprighted by some man who is very brave!
Lynne, the barn owls had a really bad year last year, I haven't gotten brave enough to watch again this year.
Just saw that guy put the snowman up, wish I had seen the earlier action! Too funny!
He is Brave...
I'll have to try the replay video a little later on..see if it shows up ☺

Already!
I'm assuming the man is the owner of the home, think the chat room call him Leader

Whoa, that is heavy duty at Norfolk, Paula... thanks for the information
Lynne, there was a lack of food for the adults, unfortunate and tragic for the owlettes.

Thanks Paula prayers they can get the eaglet safely back into nest.
I remember reading where someone was wondering where one of the eaglets was. Very fortunate that it landed softly and help was close by!
NBG also had their chat room open earlier to talk about the incident.

Wow, I just looked in on the Washinton Ospey, I see a baby! Maybe two! I must have missed them hatching, anyone know when?
Looks like we are gaining new members from all across the country!
Welcome aboard...it's a fun ride !
Magpie, when I was camping this weekend, I took some pictures of some pretty wildflowers. Then when I went to try to figure out what they were, I got really confused!
Is that 2 bears on the Snowman Cam?
2 racoons, Dana!
Deb posted at 7:50 om tonight Lynne2, click on her name and there is a picture under Nest Pictures..if you need help with that holler!
I could try to help with the wildflowers, or Wanda and Megan can too...and others.
Okay, Gaylord here I come
Oh Deb, Now I am not sure about the barn owls at all...I don't know if they are supposed to be so different in size and now I'm afraid I was wrong about the food...but i see them come in with alot...
Oh isn't that cool Carol. Which state out west?
I'll be posting some wildflower pics within the house, Lynne2 - maybe you will see some of the same there...I'll holler when they are done.
xo
thanks Magpie! I could email the pics too, if you don't mind. I should get some time tomorrow to put them on the computer.
night everyone:)
nite, Mits, sweet dreams!
Good Night, Mits
Hope we wake up to a baby BWO Osprey!
and okay Lynne2

Lynne, if they are brining in food that is a good sign. I sure hope they are. The burrowing owls are really cute on that same site.
i am off to read, so will say good night to everyone.
Good Night All
Prayers for Sissy's Tom and many others that need prayers.
They are going to place the NBG eaglet back in the nest early, around 9ish I heard...or before.
Paula, he is with National Parks in MN.
Good night all, I'm off to have some ice cream with my hubby! And to quote one of my favorite sayings,

Restful sleep & pleasant dreams

That's interesting Carol. I wonder if he is near the eagle center at Wabash?
The NBG pictures were from Dana, eaglelover on the Maine Forum.
And it was posted on the Maine forum as well.
Oops, that's Wabasha.
Big line of thunderstorms headed this way, about 40 minutes away, they look nasty.
Ok, folks hitting it for tonight. Catch ya'll tomorrow, but won't be on much during the day.
Hugs to all ♥
Goodnight, folks. Pleasant eagle dreams and peaceful slumber. Prayers for all in need, especially Deb, Tom and Ed tonight.
Wheeeeee Doggy getting that storm now !!
And so is the nest at NCTC :(
Spidey is having a tough time of it in his web
The wind is blowing very hard here now and thunder and lightning all around. Don't see Hidey in the nest, but hear him nearby. Maybe if it rains on him, he will be relieved of some of those pesky bugs.

Hi Margy, didn't mean to close the door on you! Here comes the rain now....big drops. THUNDER!

30 mph winds here now
Yes, have report from a friend of hail not too far from Wanda, and someone's outdoor patio table got blown over...
some cable is down, ha ha that's not usually much of a problem for me

Crazy stuff Jim, our storm and your clap of something....
Seems like the worst is over, storm-wise....Boris is wiggling on his web strand...I think our birds probably got pretty wet at the nest.

Good Morning Eagle Land!
It's 5:38AM and the nest is still empty. I'm hoping Hidey will be back to pick up some breakfast.
Hidey flew in the nest at 548.
554 Hidey flying around.
Vicky,
I don't see her in the nest now - did she fly out again?
Hidey is close, can hear her around the camera, and hollerin for food every now and then.
She flew out at 554, wasn't there long. Sounded like she landed right on top of camera.
Thanks - I appreciate the update.
I've been up all night reading and listening for her. She made me wait all night.
I have yet to see Hidey do a live fly-out or landing.
I can babay-sit now, if you'd like to go get some rest. :)
