Morning all! Just popping in for a quick check before running errands. Was wondering if anyone has been watching the Goshawk nest in the UK? http://www.newforestgateway.org/Wildcam/LiveCameras/tabid/117/Default.aspx
sorry, don't know how to do the blue link thing you guys do!
Morning all:) Nite Margy:) Looks like it will be a cloudy day here, showers headed at us again, will be raining soon. I slept til 8 am, kid and yard boy still haven't appeared. The smell of bacon and coffee will get them out of bed.
MORNIN' MEGAN!---You know---one day soon the yard worker & the kid are going to get wise to you!! ho!--ENJOY 'THESE DAYS' WITH KID!!!---You have a real WINNER!!
What a dreary day, but cool...good day to get the big cleaning done. We are taking our best friends 11yr old son (the one we had for the weekend who wanted to go fishing so badly that I couldn't get to the nest) on an "Owl Prowl" Saturday night sponsered by the DNR here. Should be fun, a ranger takes us out on a night hike with an owl caller and tries to scare up some owls for us, then we go back to the center to meet the owls that live there that were hurt and cannot be released back into the wild.
it's going well, Norma! Looks like we will be going camping again next weekend!
Sorry...our internet was off after the bad storm Tues (poor Hidey looked like a sogeagle in the nest) and was fixed yesterday night, but is having some intermittant problems staying connected.

Morning all. RAINY, dreary day...good for Megan, but doesn't make me very happy! Dana, my families' friend is being interred at Arlington on the 17th....passed in April. Mom will be here then, but still undetermined whether she'll be up to going....her emotions are always "on the edge" so to speak...she has wavered back and forth about going several times. Haven't seen Hidey this am... still living up to the name!
Nothing in paper about explosion/fire, Dana. Or on 25 news last night. The location I mentioned last night is just reported as a residential fire at 2:40pm w/ no injury...but that units were expected to be on scene until 8pm. MArgy...any explosions yesterday???

It's about time Hidey showed up for breakfast. I've been reading everything I could find while waiting. My day wouldn't start as well without seeing her. Good morning to everyone. Gwen
Paual, I think it will be very fun! Bill, our little buddy, is most excited because he recently diassected owl pellets in science class. Hopefully I'll get some pictures!

Debbie...welcome....here is a megasite with alot of cams: http://www.littlebirdiehome.com/WCPALL.html
I dont have alot of time to watch more than this and the Loon Cam in Minnesota which is now down since the chicks and Loon family have left the nest... but these may provide you hours of cam watching.
Good morning! I saw that poop shoot and then take off! But, I hear him near the cam....he did not fly far!
So, you are having rain and dreary weather. It is beautiful here, was in the 60's this morning, presently 72, with expected high's in the 80's, bright sunshine. Some folks around here got rain yesterday....we did not. Drat! None in the forecast.
Having another party this weekend. This time a backyard cookout with 15 to 20 frieds expected. This will be Jack's former work pals. A bunch of retired aeronautical engineers and wives. A great group!
I'll be flying up to Baltimore next weekend (13-14) for a case and I'd love to drive over and check out the nest. Do you guys think Hidey will still be around then?
06/03/09: Our first chick is small and well camouflaged in the nest, so it can be hard to see. The second chick could hatch on Thursday, so we'll be watching the other eggs. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: I'll be traveling on Thursday and might be delayed in posting the newest photos.

Has anyone looked in on the Caltrans eaglets lateley? Was just trying to check, but the cam appears down...should be fledgin there also...oldest is 3 days behind Hidey.
Ugh. Didn't realize that they were closed on the weekend. I can't really make an appt because I don't know what my schedule will be..it's all based on what the gal I'm following does...and if I lose her. I won't fly home til Monday so maybe I should try to go up then. Will I still need an appt to get in?
Have been chatting on facebook. That is fun. Was chatting with my cousins son who is a minister. He performed the ceremony for both our kids weddings and we will be seeing him in a few weeks. His son is getting married and he will be performing the ceremony. It was really neat to chat with him. Love facebook!
Kimm, you don't have to have an appointment, just give them your name and what days you may be going, so security will know to expect you and let you in. I know they think we are all nuts but who cares, right! :)
Right! Kimm, you should have Wanda's telephone number. She could possibly meet you there. It is more fun to see the nest with someone and you would love meeting Wanda or any of the local Momsters.
Good Morning Everyone! Last night's rain was great for watering all my flower pots and now I just need my hanging baskets to be set out to get their watering today. Lynne - the owl prowl sounds great! Last year there was one local - Megan & I almost attended - BUT we were afraid I would fall down and roll over the mountain LOL Sharon I love that avatar - Is that the sign you have hanging out in front of your house - Paula said it isn't over at NCTC anymore lol
What's the best way to get in touch with Steve to get my name on the list? Anyone have a phone number or the email address? I'm a private investigator, Paula. One of my subjects is flying up there for a rendezvous with an online buddy. =)
The one without enlarging 4th row 4th picture. Looked like a stork carrying a baby bundle lol Sometimes you look at a cloud an see something it forms or looks like.
just email him Kimm, if you can be there fine, if you can't no problems.....the place has classes of all sorts, so check at main bldg....lunch just might be served, and the bldg, is beautiful.
LOL! Do you live in or around Baltimore, Sharon? If so, you're on! My knowledge of the Baltimore area is confined to what I've seen at the airport when I catch a connecting flight there. It adds a whole new level of difficulty when you aren't familiar with an area. Hopefully I can find out what hotel she's staying at BEFORE we head up there.
That fox has something wrong with one of its eyes. You can see it better in some photos I didn't post. It is a little disturbing. It may actually be blind in one eye.
Kimm, I'm born and raised in Baltimore.....my sister CEIL who is a member here still lives there, as does my other sister Mary Margaret....Ceil has the baby seal avator on the blog....don't know where she is have not seen her on here today yet.
Bob, I saw an osprey dip in the ocean the other day and catch a fish.....then some black bird started to chase him and osprey headed back to the Assawoman bay
Hmmm. A missing turtle sign? Probably need to start by questioning those three smiling ladies that are pictured standing beside it. They look mighty suspicious to me. ;)
Hi, Dana! No, I haven't joined any groups. Someone sent me a link to Hidey's cam a couple of months ago and I've been an avid watcher since then. Hubby and daughter call me names like "addicted" and "obsessed". ::rolls eyes:: Although when Hidey returned after that first day that he was missing it my daughter that woke me up and told me. NOW who's addicted?
Oh yes Kimm we have ALL been there in one way or another tee hee; people you work with, family members, friends, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, wifes and the list goes on. Then some find their way to right where we are "the LIVE EAGLE CAM" lol
Sad news about the Delta nest...just posted on the CHIL forum
I'm afraid I have some very sad news to report from the Delta nest - the nest this year has been in a bad shape after partial collapse least year and there have been some real concerns about the eaglets with the adults not really building it up again. Unfortunately our fears were realized when one of the eaglets apparently fell out sometime last night. The eaglet was found under the tree but unfortunately did not survive the fall. RIP little one.
OH %&^*^*^*)&_*^%#$#%#%$%#&*((*_*___)**%*&$@$%&*()__+(^#%##@#$^_+ NOW WHY DIDN'T THEY PUT A PLATFORM IN THAT TREE KNOW THOSE EAGLES WAS GOING TO USE THAT HAWKS NEST PROBABLY AGAIN!!!!!! GRRRRRRRR
Dana, I'm in Tennessee. I own an agency called 20/20 Investigations. I pretty much only work around the mid-TN area unless one of my subjects is traveling outside the area.
Yup, Mits, Delta Dan fell out last year at around 9-10 weeks of age. They came back this year, without doing any nestorations, and laid 3 eggs....one of which rolled out of the nest.
Kimm, what a cool job you have!! If you go to NCTC on the weekend, the gate will be closed...just press the button that says call and the gate will open and then you proceed to the guard shack! Would love to come meet you, but too much going on that weekend w/ out-of-town family coming in. Dana and Bob....I've seen a silver fox here once, and also hit one on the road about 30 yrs. ago---was coming home from evening shift and he ran right into my wheel...and kept going. I was so upset that I made then-hubby get out of bed and go looking to make sure it wasn't lying injured/suffering in the orchard.
NORMABYRD: Romney is my hometown and I spent a few weeks there in April. The Red Buds were in blossom and were beautiful, as usual. I hope to go back in October for the autumn colors.
I live in Utah and have really enjoyed watching the eagle's nest.
from the Portland Red Tail Hawk site..... Injured Hawk Update--Wednesday, June 3rd, 12 am 10:54 PM Tue, Jun 02, 2009 | Permalink Bob Sallinger E-mail
Greetings from Eastern Oregon. I had a brief conversation with Mary Coolidge at Audubon this evening about the fledgling that flew into a car this afternoon. He was retrieved by Care Center volunteers and is currently being held at Audubon's Wildlife Care Center. The initial exam did not reveal any significant injuries but he will be held for observation for a day or two to ensure that everything is functioning properly. Sometimes with impact injuries we see problems 24-48 hours out. Our vet, Deb Sheaffer, will reassess him in the morning and go from there. Since we have him in captivity, we wil band him before release. There are not opportunities to visit the hawk while it is at the Care Center---we keep the injured animals off dispay to minimize their stress.
The parents will contnue feeding his sibling while he is held in captivity. It is not uncommon for parents to periodically lose track of their young during the fledging process, so his absence will not be as stressful for the parents as some folks may assume. We actually do this type of thing pretty regularly throughout the spring--we get in young hawks and owls that have suffered minor injuries, treat them for several days, and then return them to the parents. As long as the parents are caring for other young during that time period, their hormones will remain elevatedand they just resume caring for the injured youngster when it reappears. Where it gets more complicated is when there are no other young for the parents to care for during the absence--with no young to care for, the adults hormone levels will quickly drop and they will move out of their parenting mode. Fortunately we don't have that problem in this instance.
Last year we heald one of the Raptor Cam fledglings for more than a week after it crashed into a window and suffered a wing injury. That bird was successfully reunited with the parents. We released it back onto the fire escape and the parents immediately resumed caring for it.
Kimm, I volunteer to work for you!!! ALMOST completed my degree in what was then called "police science" after I finished my nursing degree, way back when! Got married, moved here, applied for a deputy position and was laughed out of the office by a sheriff who said "we don't hire women"-----too bad we didn't have EEOC back then!
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society is sponsoring a special tour of the National Zoo’s Conservation and Research Center near Front Royal, Va., Saturday, June 13. This will be a great opportunity to see this world-renowned zoological research facility—not regularly open to the public. The Center encompasses 3,200 acres in the Blue Ridge foothills, and houses between 30 and 40 endangered species. Its scientists are in the forefront of efforts to preserve threatened and endangered animal species, protect habitats, and restore species to the wild. Species now at the facility include clouded leopards (one recently made news by giving birth to two cubs), cheetahs, South American maned wolves, red pandas, Mongolian wild horses, Chinese tufted deer, and a variety of birds. The two-hour tour will start at 10am, and be guided. Because of the length, the Center does not recommend bringing children under age 12. The fee of $10 per person will be collected before the tour begins. Tour participants should arrange their own transportation, about a 75-minute drive from the Charles Town area. The tour group will travel around the Center in vans. The public is welcome, but space is limited. To make reservations and get directions, contact Peter Smith at pvsmith@frontiernet.net or 304-876-1139. For info, http://nationalzoo.si.edu/ConservationAndScience/CRC/FrontRoyal.
Wanda newbie, if you are coming "home" to Romney in Oct., you should schedule it so that you can come to Shepherdstown for NCTC's Open House on the 17th! We have a great time, and it's a real learning adventure.
Hiya, Hedgie! I hope that goofy sheriff has had an attitude adjustment since then. I have six investigators that I use on a part-time basis. 5 of the 6 are women! IMHO, women make better investigators. More tenacious, more resourceful and better communicators.
Bob at the time I found the kit or pup. It was on I-81 Interstate near Martinsburg. They were doing a lot of building and tearing up ground. Exit is known as Exit 13 King St. Exit. I believe the mother was moving the pups. I waited around for hours but no mother showed up. I took it to a friend and he told me what to mix up. Took off from my Federal Job at that time as to keep it fed and alive. Always wanting to be able to release it. Somewhere I have pictues. I will have to find them.
Hi all. I am working from home today. My computer at work was such a pain yesterday. Kimm I will be at BWI airport next Saturday morning. My son will be in for the weekend and we will pick him up. If you need any help let me know.
The picture I am using as an avatar is NOT a picture of the fox I raised and released. I got this off the internet. I called her "Summer" since I found her in the summer time.

Lynne2 - the owl prowl sounds really cool!
Sharon - love the pic :) It's a classic!
Morning, all!
after a peek at HIDEY aka MIRACLE! ho!
sounds wonderful Norma, I'd love to live in a small town. We are so sick of the traffic and too many people and the rudeness and the noise....
Paual, I think it will be very fun! Bill, our little buddy, is most excited because he recently diassected owl pellets in science class. Hopefully I'll get some pictures!
Does it seem like the smudge isn't as bad today?
I am off to work. I hope we get another Osprey chick at BWO today!
Boy, that sure is a nice fish that Hidey is chowing down on!
YUMMY!
Gotta run and get my chores done, see you all later and have a great day!
Hidey had his fill for now...beak cleaning time.
He left the rest of the fish hidden behind the smudge :)
Have a great time, Lynne, they do the owl prowls here at Washington Monument state park, one of these days I'm gonna get to one.
Oh look, a bit of sunshine!
Hidey backwards at 2 position...probably pondering leaving again.
I think Hidey is catching some ZZZZ's
Nope, just moved his head...little rascal!

Wow. off went Hidey from the back, over the launchpad - wonderful!
Such a master at take-offs now. My 2 computers are on different times so I can watch it twice!
And Hidey takes off again.
Hey Paula, great minds . . .
Of course, Hidey lightened the load first.
Here's some links for you...pretty much bird cams
www.beakspeak.com
http://www.eagletmomsters.com/links.html
Sounds like Hidey went near the cam.
Oh, and I have a dead baby sparrow on my roof. Looks like it may have hit the house! :( * * *
A poop shoot, a shake of the tailfeathers, and then...GONE!
It sounds like he circled around and landed on or near the camera though.
Yup, that was a classic lighten the load!
Awww, poor baby sparrow.
Drat! None in the forecast.

lol Make that friends not frieds. ☺
Morning Lolly well if we knew no sprinkles for you. We would have sent some light rain your way the Texas way.
Someone is near the cam/mic.
I was wondering if I wanted any frieds, Lolly! ☺
Wow, Bozzett....that's a cool sight! Hadn't seen it before. Thanks for sharing....just what I need....more cams!! LOL!
Well, I wish I had let you know. Need that rain on my yard.
Good morning everyone...have a good one:)
I'll be flying up to Baltimore next weekend (13-14) for a case and I'd love to drive over and check out the nest. Do you guys think Hidey will still be around then?
Good morning Mits!
Kimm, Hidey should still be around then. That would be great.
yes Kimm go for it...morning Sharon
Yes, Kimm, Hidey should still be around!
You will need to email Steve Chase if you want to get on the grounds over the weekend. Maybe someone else would like to meet you there as well.

Our first chick is small and well camouflaged in the nest, so it can be hard to see. The second chick could hatch on Thursday, so we'll be watching the other eggs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: I'll be traveling on Thursday and might be delayed in posting the newest photos.

Has anyone looked in on the Caltrans eaglets lateley? Was just trying to check, but the cam appears down...should be fledgin there also...oldest is 3 days behind Hidey.
I check there daily, Paula, but their cam is down more then up....last time I saw them they were huge, parent had to sit on the branch
You do not need an appointment. They just need to have your name at the guard booth.
There is a gate with a booth. Steve would give them your name. Also, they could tell you where to see the nest. Take binoculars.
Kimm, you don't have to have an appointment, just give them your name and what days you may be going, so security will know to expect you and let you in. I know they think we are all nuts but who cares, right! :)
Good morning!
New photos have been posted:
BW Photos
Thanks, Mits.
Kimm, and if you can't make it, it's not a problem...but they would have your name in case you can.
Are you a nurse?
Good Eagle Morning Kimm and Mits. Thank you Mits for the weather.
Last year there was one local - Megan & I almost attended - BUT we were afraid I would fall down and roll over the mountain LOL
Sharon I love that avatar - Is that the sign you have hanging out in front of your house - Paula said it isn't over at NCTC anymore lol
Time to go eat a bite of breakfast and do my walking/cardio.
Have a great day every one. Bless you!
Dana - I've never seen a gray or grey fox!
What's the best way to get in touch with Steve to get my name on the list? Anyone have a phone number or the email address? I'm a private investigator, Paula. One of my subjects is flying up there for a rendezvous with an online buddy. =)
awesome pics, Bob
Thanks Bob for sharing your beautiful work.
The one without enlarging 4th row 4th picture. Looked like a stork carrying a baby bundle lol
Sometimes you look at a cloud an see something it forms or looks like.

Thanx, Lolly! I'll watch for Wanda on here and see if I can get her number.
And thanx, Mit! I'll send him an email! =)
just email him Kimm, if you can be there fine, if you can't no problems.....the place has classes of all sorts, so check at main bldg....lunch just might be served, and the bldg, is beautiful.
I want to go to work with you Kimm.
Bob that fox is just precious. Love the osprey with the fish shots also!
Our very own Sherlock Holmes!
Good Eagle Morning Mema Jo and our PHOTO WINNER BOB QUINN. ( :
Mema Jo do you have that crossing sign in your bedroom or rec. room, since you couldn't get a turtle shell from nest?
Wow, Kimm how interesting!
Kimm might have to investigate where the turtle sign went?????
Our own private PI....hummmm I have a lot of things that need to be investigated but they are all dead ends.
Hey, no investigating that! :)
Had I known they were going to remove the sign, I would have done it for them! :)
LOL! Do you live in or around Baltimore, Sharon? If so, you're on! My knowledge of the Baltimore area is confined to what I've seen at the airport when I catch a connecting flight there. It adds a whole new level of difficulty when you aren't familiar with an area. Hopefully I can find out what hotel she's staying at BEFORE we head up there.
wonder how they know the turtles don't cross there anymore...
Paula - There are two different osprey with fish. The one where you see the two posts (0211) is the OCam male.
They look mighty suspicious to me. ;)
Kimm have you joined the Eaglet_Momster group?
No Kimm, I live in the southern tip of WV in Bluefield. Ceil lives in Baltimore though! :)
you betcha, Kimm, cuff them and stuff them...:)
Yes Kimm especially the one on the far left as your looking at the picture. riclmbo=rocking in laughing my butt off
rocking in chair laughing my butt off well I messed up I was laughing lol
Wow- Bob, your pictures are great, as always. I love the fox pictures. And the heron flying in, and the oriole, and the osprey with the fish...
Oh yes Kimm we have ALL been there in one way or another tee hee; people you work with, family members, friends, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, wifes and the list goes on. Then some find their way to right where we are "the LIVE EAGLE CAM" lol
ROFLMAO...you got them hooked, Kim.
Bob and Deb should collaborate on a nature book together;)
Kimm can you tell us or is it private. From what state you are in?
Sad news about the Delta nest...just posted on the CHIL forum
I'm afraid I have some very sad news to report from the Delta nest - the nest this year has been in a bad shape after partial collapse least year and there have been some real concerns about the eaglets with the adults not really building it up again. Unfortunately our fears were realized when one of the eaglets apparently fell out sometime last night. The eaglet was found under the tree but unfortunately did not survive the fall. RIP little one.
de plane de plane
Aw, that is sad, Paula.
OH %&^*^*^*)&_*^%#$#%#%$%#&*((*_*___)**%*&$@$%&*()__+(^#%##@#$^_+ NOW WHY DIDN'T THEY PUT A PLATFORM IN THAT TREE KNOW THOSE EAGLES WAS GOING TO USE THAT HAWKS NEST PROBABLY AGAIN!!!!!! GRRRRRRRR
sad, thanks for the update Paula, didn't they have problems at this nest last year....can't keep all these nests, straight, I don't take notes.
I've GOTTA get some work done. Take care, eagle moms. BBL.
Lovely, Bob....as always!
NORMABYRD: Romney is my hometown and I spent a few weeks there in April. The Red Buds were in blossom and were beautiful, as usual. I hope to go back in October for the autumn colors.
I live in Utah and have really enjoyed watching the eagle's nest.

We will continue to post updates.
Bob

Wanda newbie, if you are coming "home" to Romney in Oct., you should schedule it so that you can come to Shepherdstown for NCTC's Open House on the 17th! We have a great time, and it's a real learning adventure.
That would be a cool field trip, Megan! Wish i could...but can't!
I miss it every year, Megan:(
BWO osprey looking...
Hiya, Hedgie! I hope that goofy sheriff has had an attitude adjustment since then. I have six investigators that I use on a part-time basis. 5 of the 6 are women! IMHO, women make better investigators. More tenacious, more resourceful and better communicators.
I believe you Kimm;)
Is that you, Hidey!?
Well, Kimm, all I can say is that the chauvinist is no longer among the living!
hope where ever he is, Lynn, he has a woman boss...:)whether he is up or down
I hear Hidey
lots of rain headed to nest.
eaglet at BWE
Bob they aren't called silver fox but I was at time hubby and I met lol
My pic tells it all. I raised one from very little till it came into heat then released where a male fox was.
Wow. Very nice Dana. Where are they found?
Hidey flew in with parent
Adult & Hidey in nest
Parent eating & feeding Hidey
Adult in nest with fish feeding Hidey! Looks like Belle, maybe.
Eagle is wet!
I just got back in on the blog
Goggle Account Cop would not let me return after my comment around 11:00am.
Aww Dana, that little fox is so cute!
Hidey is a Peep-n-eater!
where's that blow dryer when an eagle needs it?
could hear Hidey clear on the other side of the condo....
Paula she fit into the palm of my hand. I thought I had rescued a kitten (even though allergic to them) until it made a sound. lol
Afternoon Ceil (Seal)
a little feeding & a little food & off for a fly-about, even while there's still fish in the nest.
Looked like Hidey was drying wings out, then just took off!
Off Hidey flys
Bob they are all over Hedgesville, Back Creek Valley even on up into area Norma lives.
So Dana, was it like a puppy sound?
The picture I am using as an avatar is NOT a picture of the fox I raised and released. I got this off the internet.
I called her "Summer" since I found her in the summer time.
