I think we left everyone at the nest. Come on everyone, the door is open!

glo said...

Yeah Steve I am glad you have some video from NCTC. Its a good day and we have pretty much all decided that Pearl the oldest is still in that nest. We may have naotehr fledge very very soon LOL

glo said...

I agree Wanda Miss Pecky Pearl is right there in the nest!!! Keep an eagle eye out.

indiana nesting eagles dave said...

I hope that he had a great first
flight and will return to the nest.

From the other page:

Apparently, either Pearl or one of the adults just flew over the nest!

If you remember two years ago, Liberty will probably be feeding these two males still on the nest exclusively until they leave the nest completely; and Belle will tend to Pearl exclusively ... off the nest most of the time.

This is no time for the wind to be knocking the live feed off the air!!

I'm begining to think Pearl will stay in the nest til the very last. SHE KNOWS WHERE THE FOOD IS! LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

This eagle eye is definitely out! :)

It looks funny only seeing 2 in the nest.

Costume Lady said...

No wind here, Jim.

Costume Lady said...

Sharon, we can pretend one is under the thingy.

Mema Jo said...

Right after the fledge - an adult flew into the nest - after looking at just 2, the adult took off. Usually an adult will stay with the young fledging... lots of fishing lessons to be had!

paula eagleholic said...

Steve - have you seen our fledgling?

Costume Lady said...

Where is Paula? She is pretty good at telling these babes apart.

paula eagleholic said...

I think it was Pearl that fledged...

paula eagleholic said...

But that's just my opinion!

Wonder if they are talking to their sibling??

Mema Jo said...

Something has their attention over there.............

movin said...

If you look at the two side-by-side, trying to get some fish, they both have the same size feet and beaks, which means they are male and IT WAS PEARL WHO FLEDGED FIRST.

Sometimes I hate the wide angle lenses, which confuse the eyes as to the real size of objects farther from the lens.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I think our fledgling is to the right of the nest. They keep looking that way and I heard an eagle call and it didn't look like it was coming from either of these 2.

Mema Jo said...

They seem to have forgotten about the food

WHO WAS THAT CALLING?

movin said...

She must be doing some extra flying around the area ... and over head ... judging by the excitement and the turning heads.

Mema Jo said...

I think it may be Pecky Pearl out there telling them NOT TO EAT HER
FISH!

Mema Jo said...

I'm sure most of remember that the awkwardness of the first landing
is not anything like the
ease of the first take off!

Costume Lady said...

I'm not sure now who has the fish. Pearl would have had it torn apart and half eaten by now. Yes, the fledgling is calling.

Costume Lady said...

Jo, I was thinking the same thing. Pearl would have a fit if one of her siblings got HER fish.

Costume Lady said...

Those two seem reall concerned about their missing sibling.

Costume Lady said...

Now they are crying!

Costume Lady said...

HOW CUTE IS THAT?

Geula said...

HI! I missed the fledge by a few seconds!
I took my eyes off the screen and when I looked again there were only 2! I hear the fledgling in the distance now, calling! I WANNA COME BACK! HELP!

Mema Jo said...

Hi Geula & welcome on this special day! I guess this is the start of the end of another season!
I remember the thrill when all 3 came back to the nest after fledging last time.

glo said...

well I think we have a UFE Unidentified flying eaglet..

magpie said...

This might go twice, or not at all:
Thanks to Every Single Person involved in this effort, the technicians and all the reporters and recorders. A Special Day. Go Eagles!

Costume Lady said...

NOOOOO! Tiny, don't jump; wait til Saturday!

glo said...

I agree if ther eis an eaglet off the nest yelling then that would nOT be Middly and probably not tiny either. Too Funny, Shows what a great job Lib and Belle have done at raising all three. They are so very close to equal in size but they do have their personalities.

Costume Lady said...

Jo, how soon did the first one come back to the nest after fledging?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

What an exciting day. It is funny how the launch pad spot stayed the same!

paula eagleholic said...

I think it was Pearl, because I think Pearl is a male...because it seems smaller than the other two...this is just my opinion

glo said...

Well just like Spunky we will never actually know who fledged of if it is he or she. Just need to see 3 helathy young eagles in our nest several times now as our season takes a big step towards its closing times.

Mema Jo said...

Wanda - I wish I could remember. I don't even remember if it were a couple of days or not. There is probably a video of Big Boy returning to the nest.

Sharon - I was thinking the same thing about Launch Pad position. Must be the best clearance to get out of the nest.

glo said...

Check in soon whoever you are...we need to see you.

glo said...

There is video somewhere of Big Boy returnign to the nest. Can't remember either how long BUT for spunky it was very very soon!!!

glo said...

Well not sure if he returned much before this but here is a clip sent to me by Sharon of Big boy returnign after 2 days. Still definitely not easy to land

Big Boys not so graceful landing

Mema Jo said...

Do you think we had it on YouTube or Frapps? Can't find it on the
NCTC Eagles of Shepherdstown WV site.

I'll keep searching....

Mema Jo said...

MAMA IS HERE!!!

What a story they are telling her LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I do remember that once they all fledge, they start following the food back into the nest.

glo said...

Looks like we have a Life Lesson going on in the nest now.

Costume Lady said...

Nope, that is not Pearl. She would have been on top of that meal.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks Glo! I also found about 5 still shots that Paula had placed in the photobucket album.

Off goes the adult..........

glo said...

So Sharon do you think that is pat of what is going on with the several parent stops at the nest. I love watching Lib and Belle with their young.

Mema Jo said...

There are still pics that Paula has saved over in our photo bucket account..
Dates of June 26, 29 & July 3 show all 3 had returned to the nest for a visit! On June 12 the entire family was in the nest.

I was just trying to look back at the comments from 2006 in regards to Big Boy returning to the nest...I think it was actually about a week before we saw him back in the nest....he was on some of the branches surrouding the nest before actually being back in the nest though, and we could see his head at times, and sometimes just his tail.

paula eagleholic said...

Ok, great, 2 days and the ungraceful landing...I do remember the landing video...just couldn't find that amidst all the comments from that time...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I was thinking it was days before they come back.

paula eagleholic said...

This will be a great visit...we will have fledglings and probably a nestling or two...

NatureNut said...

How EGGciting!!! Checking in at work--no live feed, etc.
And today is my daughter's B'Day, too!!

Later :>))))

floralgirl said...

New thread- with a pic of tree- think Steve has spotted the eaglet for us in the tree above nest. rain is bearing down on us here, about to start pouring.

NatureNut said...

Don't you just hate it that none of the birds will wear their nametags????
