Well, it's almost February and it seems like our birds are spending more time at the nest. It's 2:30 PM on a bright sunny day and there they are. We're suspecting that there could soon be some action here. We'll be watching, as I'm sure you folks will as well. We are also getting close to starting up the live video and audio feed. Should know more next week. This will be funded through your efforts and the Friends of the NCTC.

Those Tesoro chicks are just beautiful and cuddly looking. Soon we will have some of our own to watch.

Candy - there have been 2 owls most of the time & I think we may really see some eggs soon.. I have to read up on Owls.. I am thinking that no one has cleaned out the nest box recently so as not to disturb them.
Snow is keeping the little burrowing owl inside - at least I don't see any little bird prints in the snow.

Hi all. I'm back home from work now. However, this means I'm on a slower connection. Hopefully I won't miss anything. I have to say that talking to everyone truly made Sandy's day.
HI Danelle. We are so happy that SANDRA could get on the blog. It was so nice of you to help her out. Anything we can do for SANDY to make her recovery speedier; she is special to all of us. Not many on now as it is dinnertime I guess. They will be on later, I can assure you. Most of us will probably checking our nest all night to see if Belle stays in it.

My kindergarten class watched it two years ago and it is just aweinspiring. Last years eggs didn't make it. We lost alot of eagles and birds in different locations because of the weather or just plain accidental things with parents of chicks. I know you will enjoy watching. Once you start, you get hooked, and these people are a great bunch of people on here. They meet every once in awhile and maybe one time you could meet too. They are just so kind and caring.
I have only been on the blog since the spring of this year, as I just kept watching; afraid to get on. I a soooo glad I did and met these people. I hated going back to wowrk in the fall, but only have one year left in kindergarten, so I'll be a full time watcher then too.
AND DANELLE, our cam will be live with sound for the very first time. It should be great!!

Jo we had chicken done in crock pot (I put a heavy dish over top the lid that did the trick) no spill outs. Also baked potatoes and fruit. Later is dessert.

Hi, I have been trying to figure out if there is an eagle in the nest at Norfolk and I am pretty sure there is. I saw it fly in, then read the updates. I am pretty sure it is still there. Too bad they can't get that light closer!

DEB I was sondering the same thing a little earlier. I thought one was laying in the nest with the tail pointed towards the cam and head looking away, but I couldn't tell either.

Hey, I have never posted anything here before, but I enjoy watching the eagles. I'm 17 and from NC. There appears to be a great horned owl in the Norfolk nest.
They just moved the cam in at Norfolk...I don't see nor did I see when cam went in a white head. I don't think that is an eagle JMO for now.
Look at Norfolk nest. There is a closeup and sure looks like something being framed by two branches. They are zeroing in on it. I can't see a white head or tail tho.
Oh no I was hoping that great horned owl wouldn't come back. Yet the info that was on the other thread. Said they can even take over an eagles nest. NO NO NO that in Norfolk Eagles nest you owl you!! Yep just seen it fly out it WAS AN OWL..

When I lived in Florida, I witnessed a great horned owl steal an eagle nest. A pair of eagles built a nest a couple hundred yards from my house, and I wondered why they suddenly left. A few days later, I saw the owls on the nest.
Kyle Keep your eyes open and let us know when and what you see. Just pop right in. This group is a really nice group of people.

I wondered the same thing. I went and read about the GH Owl and it likes to steal eagle nests! They usually lay their eggs before the eagle and that is how they take over the nest.
PH is empty at the moment.

Jo when they went in with the camera to see if that was a great horned owl in the nest. A little bit ago (which it was one) they lightened the camera. Now they just darkened it a lot.

Watching Norfolk nest for owl the nest isnt to dark if anything flys in should be able to see it especially an owl.. Culd be its out hunting and might bring food back in to nest... Hope not

Don't know why at Norfolk they are darking it. They certainly have showed they can make it lighter. Doesn't make any sense. To have a cam light on the nest for viewers and to darken it so. Whomever told our Momster they couldn't sure has showed tonight they can. It is not "what it is" .....as they said at Norfolk. Oh well nice nest to watch during the daytime.
Hi ladies and Kyle...I read Steve's update on our cam and the thought of a live cam and audio, is almost too good to be true. It will be fantabulous! We will have the best eagle nest site in the United States. Norfolk is wonderful, but they don't have sound and we have a real good night light.

Well, I finally finished working for the day.
The more eyes we have watching these eagles, the better. I even missed the HP today so I am slipping.
It is getting close to the time the Kent eagles have popped in the last two nights.
I bet they turn the lights up at NBG so the cameraman can see, then turn them back down to save electricity.
Finally got the email done. Looks like BWE Mama has her head tucked in for the night.

Question for those that were watching NBG earlier....were they zooming in on the nest? That seems to make the light brighter...and BTW, the eagles cannot see the infrared light...it's not like they are turning a light on and off.
Also, it you bring up NBG in WMP, you can go in and adjust the color levels and brightness so you can see better....
