At least the cam has a good shot of the nest frozen this time.

MITS said...

Thank you, Steven:).

Suzanne said...

Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Awesome pic of the Moose! That is beautiful country!
Thanks for the heads up, Jim. And good morning to you, and Paula, and Norma, and everyone.
You're right, Jim, it is a pretty picture. But I would rather have seen our eagles this morning!

normabyrd said...

THANKS STEVEN-!!!--STILL ENJOYING YOUR BEAUTIFUL MOOSE PIC!!!---Thanks MOVIN' JIM for the update!!!!

Suzanne said...

Parent in Kent nest!

normabyrd said...

I agree with your SUZANNE---The STORKS are a FAVORITE of mine too!!
Such fun to watch!!---I also like those VA "REBELS"!----Heck---I think I love them all!!!!----ho! ho!--(i'm easy)!!

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks, Mits. Saw the earlier comment about the sod ball, but not sure which nest the comment was about - was thinking WA.

paula eagleholic said...

Not an eaglet in sight at VA :)

normabyrd said...

DID you all see the "flapping of wings" in KENT nest---How long till they fledge?----That nest most reminds me of ours!!

normabyrd said...

MITS!----IS TAI eating an ICICLE now?-----Or what is he eating?---I have a HARD TIME telling the pandas apart!!!----

Suzanne said...

Yes, Norma, saw the wing flapping in Kent. They're sure getting big and beautiful, aren't they?

MITS said...

I'll go over and check, Norma.I can't tell who is who sometimes, except I always know the Tai is in the newer yard.

MITS said...

Ok, Tai is on Cam#2, eating bamboo, and, I believe that is Mei, sleeping in the cool den, on Cam#1, and I can hear my fellow student Jim, talking to the visitors. He has been around the zoo along time, in different zoo volunteer jobs, but decided to become an Asia Trail Interpreter

MITS said...

Now Tai is roaming around his yard.

Costume Lady said...

There is an interesting article on the Update of the Status of the Bald Eagle, brought to our attention by Steve at the beginning of his new thread.
So much needs to be done and so little time and resources.

normabyrd said...

CHECK "STATUS" ON STEVEN'S NEW THREAD!!!---SO MANY PICS OF THE BALD EAGLE---"ONE WILL THINK ONE HAS DIED & GONE TO EAGLE HEAVEN"!!!
Tons of EAGLE INFO!!!!----THANKS---THANKS STEVEN!!---You keep us informed!!!!!

normabyrd said...

WELL WANDA!!!---great minds do think alike!!!---ho! ho!---GREAT PAGE!!!

normabyrd said...

THANKS MITS!!!----I saw the "Little Prince"!----But one was eating a "white ball" & he was sitting down like TAI does!!

MITS said...

Yes, Wanda, very interesting article. One man's quest to build homes may doom the eagle once again. I know the eagles don't pay taxes, but I believe somewhere along the road we have paid taxes to protect them.

MITS said...

Oh, that was JMHO:)!

Costume Lady said...

NORMA--
You are so right--Birds of a Feather! HaHa

normabyrd said...

MILLER PARK EAGLES----They "candled" the EGG & can't tell if the chick is there or if the egg has solidified!!!---The EAGLES are both still keeping close guard of the egg!!----If something doesn't happen by FRI. of this week---may destroy egg!!

Costume Lady said...

MITS-
That was very well said--hope the "gentleman" has a the opportunity to read your comment about taxes.

Suzanne said...

Norma, was looking at the Miller Park Zoo earlier, and Beauty is still on the egg. Hum, didn't know eggs could solidify. It was due to hatch around Memorial Day, 2 weeks ago, now! Poor Beauty!

MITS said...

sLOTH bEAR cAM #1a is showing the demo of the bears traing and eating.

normabyrd said...

SUZANNE---This is the way MILLER PARK ZOO worded it----The egg was candled 6/8/07---""candled" the egg, but its contents were to dense to allow light to pass. Tobias concluded the egg either contains a developing embryo or is rotten & solid-----

Mema Jo said...

Good Moring - I was up and out the door at 8:30 this morning - Now I have returned and am ready for a nap.
I have checked all the cams-Va & BW fledgers were not available. I usually head for Kent,PugentSound & Sidney nests. Did get the NE cam up - Don't know how we will see any branching there or at FtStVrain.

Mrs Owl is still MIA...Mrs Bluebird is in her nest right now-maybe we will get #5 egg as Wanda predicts!!

normabyrd said...

SUZ---They also said they may remove the egg if doesn't hatch by this coming FRI.---Lots of talk about how the ZOO attendance had increased since the EAGLE laid the eggs!!!---School kids also got hooked on the EAGLES----JUST LIKE "USIN"---ho!

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' JO-----Believe me WANDA KNOWS!!!----DIRECT LINE TO THE NEST!! ho! ho!---Now you have permission to nap---STAY COOL!!!

normabyrd said...

DID ANYONE WATCH "THE SOPRANOS" last night!!!----DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ENDING!! ho! ho!

Mema Jo said...

I did just read about the Name chosen for the Hancock Wildlife eaglet
Congratulations to John Simpson for submitting the winning entry. He stated the reason he chose the name Skye was "the chick is often looking skyward; she/he will be spending a great deal of it's life in the 'sky', it sounds like a 'cool' name for an eagle!"

normabyrd said...

YEAH JO!---GREAT NAME----I meant to enter my FAVORITE name---YEAGER!!!---ho!--Remember!!

normabyrd said...

WATCHING the "little" STORKS eat---They are adorable & so very VOCAL when it comes to "getting their share of the food"-----

Suzanne said...

Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle day! Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

normabyrd said...

SAFE JOURNEY HOME SUZANNE----STAY COOL!!!----It's 79° now!!!

Anne-Marie said...

Good Morning all. Spent the weekend zonked on pain pills. Surgery is at 1:00. I hope they can saved the tooth but at this rate I just want the pain to stop. I have a very sweet mocking bird that sang to me all weekend. Bless him. He gave me plenty to be thankful for and a diversion. Have a beautiful day.

Costume Lady said...

HEIDI--
Hope all goes well for you at the Dentist. At any rate, you should be having much less pain.

Mrs. B is in Labor again. Just about 10 more minutes and we should have egg #5.

normabyrd said...

HEIDIGIRL---I can certainly "FEEL YOUR PAIN"----I have told my dentist---"I do not wish to OUT LIVE my teeth"---ho!----Almost sure they can save it----W/keep you in my thoughts & prayers!!!---Remember either way the PAIN WILL STOP!!-----I always pinch my arm real hard w/my finger nail----sometimes it detracts me from the tooth pain---ho!----STAY COOL!!!

normabyrd said...

WANDA----Are you that good---down to mins. now!!!!----Anxious to see the "wee ones"!!!

MITS said...

Hope everything comes out ok, Annemarie.

MITS said...

Watching Mrs.B

Costume Lady said...

Mrs. B isn't in a hurry to leave her nest today. If she has egg #5 under her, she may decide to start incubating now.

MITS said...

This is true, Wanda:).

Mema Jo said...

Mits - Mrs B is watching you!

Mema Jo said...

Headed out the door to go steal away my little grt-grndgal - Allie...
Be back..........

MITS said...

WOW, WANDA, YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!! MRS. B HAS 5 EGGS NOW:)!

normabyrd said...

YOU DID IT!!!!----"GOLLY" WANDA---You are better that I thought----WAY TO GO!!!

normabyrd said...

BUTA BUTA is giving LUN LUN fits!!!The "LITTLE BEAUTY" pushed LUN LUN out of the hammock & SHE climbed in my herself!!!!--Trying to keep MOM out----Wouldn't it be great to see her in TAI'S environment!!!

MITS said...

STEVEN Did you ever find out what is wrong with our cam???

Robyn said...

Good afternoon,

If they delist the Bald Eagles June 29, they should make it National Eagle day so everyone can remember how far they have come the past 30 years and remember to protect and respect such wonderful birds.

Steve Chase said...

The cam issue is in Denver. John has requested that they fix things...

Robyn said...

Eagle out on a limb in Va, such beautiful animals.

Suzanne did you see all the spots on the Benicia owls? Looks like 3 females in the box, but one could be mom as they got so big.

Robyn said...

I have little cardinals at my birdfeeder with mom looking over them, they are so much smaller then the adults.

MITS said...

Thanks, Steven, good ole Denver:).

paula eagleholic said...

OUr cam is working now...

3 eagles and a parent at VA....

normabyrd said...

ROBYNANN----A mo. or two ago--SEN. BYRD (D) & SEN. FRIST (R) announced there will be a National Bald Eagle Day---at that time, they didn't announce the date---So I guess our EAGLES will have a special day!!!----Just don't know when!!!! Won't that be COOL!

normabyrd said...

ROBYNANN----I really don't even want to think about have the EAGLE removed from the protection list, etc.----WHERE WILL THEY NEST!!--& BE FREE TO SOAR-----I know in our area----People are moving from the cites---BULL DOZING--BUILDING homes or a summer home any place they can find land----& who wouldn't like to have an an EAGLE or 2 on their land, etc.----I WANT THEM TO BE FREE & CHOSE TO NEST WHERE THEY WISH!!

normabyrd said...

HEY KIDS!!---Didn't mean to get so carried away-----But I know we would all FIGHT to save our EAGLES!!!

MITS said...

I agree Norma, some people would like to have eagles on their property, but, alot would like to bulldoze them down and build houses or condos.

movin said...

GOOD EVENING, EAGLE LOVERS...

I see our cam is working well, has anyone seen the eageles today??

Jim

movin said...

I share your concerns about removing the Bald Eagle from the Endangered List, but there will be a rush in some quarters to capitalize on the new real estate.

Perhaps a way for government and property owners to co-operate and ensure that there are suitable places for the eagles to rebuild nests if they must be moved would work.

Might have to modify law or write new law to accomplish it.

Jim

sandyshaw said...

Hello, everyone. There are updates and great pictures on the wood duck site. I hate to keep harping on them, but they are such beautiful creatures and their fledging is just amazing.

Spent the day at the Streetscape meeting working on plans for safe but historic sidewalks. Have a nice evening.

movin said...

Hi, Sandy...historic sidewalks are very important in my view.

Have a good evening.

Jim

Mema Jo said...

Had a delightful evening with family.
Going to call it a day..

Good Night Everyone
Prayers being said for all

Good Morning Suzanne..Cam is up & running

MITS said...

Wonder where Spidey is??? GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

movin said...

GOOD NIGHT/GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE....

Personally, I don't miss Spidey on the cam at all. I guess he probably moved on to better hunting grounds.

Have a good rest and a great Tuesday.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE--SWEET DREAMS

GOOD MORNING SUZ-
Hope you have coffee in hand and not in LAP. HaHa!
I'll see you around 6am.

paula eagleholic said...

Haidy, Hedi, Ho! It's off to bed I go! Hope everyone had a great eve!

Suzanne said...

LOL, good way to start the day, with a laugh! Yes, Costume Lady, coffee is in hand, not in lap! But since then, I'm obsessive about checking the tops! Geesh. But don't want to wear coffee again!
Good morning, eagle world. Beautiful out, some stars, no moon, 61° at my house, 71° here. Nice wind, as long as you have a sweater on.
See we got out cam back, thanks Steve and NCTC!! Both BW nests are MT, but see the sod ball has moved again in the osprey nest. Lisa said since they don't have kids this year, they have to play with something, so they brought in a sod ball. Hummm, wonder if that's like soccer or football...
All have a great eagle day. Haven't opened other cams yet, but will shortly. CostumeLady, our kids show up about 10 or 15 minutes past 5. See you for coffee!
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

Suzanne said...

Opened my other cams, Wanda, Ms. Bluebird is on her 5 eggs! I'm impressed, you sure called that one! Can see some PA falcons on the very corner of the ledge, but it's still dark, so hard to see. No video on the WA ospreys, DARN!!!! And the WildWatch barn owl is still AWOL, didn't see her at all yesterday. Course the burrowing owls aren't on yet, but still looks like Albuquerque is still down. Was down all day yesterday. I can see one barnowl (Benicia) standing up by their entrance, and the stork family is very pretty just hanging around talking to each other. Those cute little chicks are soon gonna be cute big chicks!

Suzanne said...

Anybody up? Lib and Belle are due any minute, and I've been on other computer. Try to watch here...
BW nests both MT.

Suzanne said...

Well it looks like the kids are sleeping in this morning. Either that, or they're on their second cuppa coffee, but in any case, they're not in the nest. No visitors in BW nests, either. Well, ain't this a bummer!!!

Suzanne said...

Looks like everybody is sleeping in this morning...at least in the raptor world. So, have to leave for a few. BRB.

Suzanne said...

Dang, just knew I'd see our nest occupied with eagles when I came back. Nada, nothing, nobody home. Lots of new leaves, though, so they've been there sometime between Friday AM and now. MT BW eagle nest, but there is an osprey in the BW nest. And the sod ball has moved since this morning, so there is activity out there somewhere!!!

Suzanne said...

Oh, dumb me. Kept checking the Benicia owls, and they weren't changing positions. Guess not, cam went down last night at 2130, so guess they're not moving.

Suzanne said...

I'm wondering if our cam is working. I don't think so. Was outside a few minutes ago, and the wind has really picked up! It's quite windy out now, and the leaves on our cam are not moving... not even a little bit! So maybe Lib and Belle have been there, we just didn't get to see them. Never mind, leaf just moved. So ok, they're sleeping in. And now we have blackbirds, so yeah, cam is working fine. Just not showing Lib and Belle, that's all.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING SUZ
Just when it's about time for L & B to visit, our cam is starting to act up.
Mrs. B seems to be satisfied with 5 eggs and has been incubating them off and on. Hatching is due June 23. A little something to look forward to.
COFFEE TIME--BBL

Costume Lady said...

OK--cam is working better now. GOOD!

Suzanne said...

Morning, CostumeLady. Yup, our cam is working fine. Except it's not showing us Liberty or Belle, just a lot of blackbirds that are in and out on the branches! Guess Lib and Belle must have gone out for breakfast, cause they're not here.
Osprey still in BW nest, BW eagle nest still MT, and no visitors yet this morning. Ms. Bluebird is on her 5 eggs! Yeah, I've never seen Western Bluebirds up close and personal, so this will be exciting to watch!

Suzanne said...

BW eagle cam is not refreshing, but the blackbirds are having a field day on the nest and tree branches on our nest! Lone osprey still in BW guarding their sod ball. Can only see part of a falcon on the PA ledge. Can't believe they all fledged yesterday. Ms. Bluebird changing positions in her nest, and the storks are still sitting pretty, parent over them. Still dark out west, and closed all the cams that weren't operational or MT. Jo, where did our WDFW barn owl get to?

Suzanne said...

Ospreys are playing with the sod ball! One picks it up and flyes somewhere else in the nest with it.

Suzanne said...

They look like they're getting ready to give it a kick. Hum, must be like soccer instead of football.

Suzanne said...

Our kicker just left, only 1 osprey and in tact sod ball in nest.

Suzanne said...

Osprey has head down like he's gonna head butt the sod ball.

Suzanne said...

They have moved the stork cam up close to the babies. Clear pic now.

Suzanne said...

One PA falcon is on the edge of the ledge looking over. Guess he's thinking about fledging. Ms. Bluebird is showing us her 5 eggs, she's taking a break. Stork cam is still way up close to the family, and our nest and BW eagle are MT. Osprey still in nest guarding the sod. Looking at the sod ball very closely.

Costume Lady said...

SUZ--
Still no visit from Lib & Belle?
Mrs. B is taking a long break this morning. Did you get a chance to see the video of Friday's S.C. Banding? I still can't get over how awesome and interestin it was. I watched parts of it again.

Suzanne said...

Nope, no visit. It's too late now, they usually arrive shortly after 5, and may stay for 2 or 3 minutes, or up to a half an hour. If they come back during the day, I haven't heard. They may make an afternoon or evening visit, but they won't be there now while I'm at work. No, haven't seen the video yet, but it sure was exciting reading all the blogging! Bet that was awesome to watch! I will try to get to view it today, but so far, it's been a busy day here. And yes, Mrs. B is taking a rather long break for her sitting duties!

Suzanne said...

Daylight in Kent. Parent was in tree before dawn, but gone fishin' now. Kids are still snoozing. Man, they're getting big!

MITS said...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Have a good Tuesday. Suzanne, all the falcons where there yesterday fighting over food. Some of them still look too little to get going, must be a nervous time for the watchers up there.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Mits. Yes, they're not even all brown yet. This morning I've only seen 2 falcons on the ledge, and they're on the corner huddled together. Keep trying to watch, but haven't seen any other views of the kids.

Suzanne said...

Wow, sunrise is awesome in Kent.

Suzanne said...

Ms. Bluebird is back! Think she was gone about an hour and a half.
Parent in Kent.

Suzanne said...

Looked like parent was feeding the Kent chicks, but now they're standing tall and looking around. Might have heard something.

Suzanne said...

Parent took off and both chicks are squaking! Hey, come back, I'm still hungry!!!

Suzanne said...

Parent in tree, but chicks aren't giving up. Looking up and squaking.

Suzanne said...

Our little bluebird mommie is off the eggs again...

Costume Lady said...

SUZ--Sunrise is so special at Kent. I really miss seeing the sunrise on Mrs. Loon and LuLu.
Mrs. B is really restless, isn't she? At this rate, it will take those eggs all Summer to hatch!

Suzanne said...

She sure is restless. Wonder why?
Still at least 3 falconettes on ledge, but this is the first time all morning I've seen 3!
Love the Kent cams! One of the chicks is up close to the cam on cam3!

MITS said...

WANDA Do you think Mrs. B has another one in her?????

Suzanne said...

Mrs. B is back...

movin said...

A VERY WONDERFUL MORNING TO YOU ALL...

JIM

Suzanne said...

Beauty, at the Miller Park Zoo is still sitting on her egg. Her hubby, Mathata, is standing nearby. Poor thing, doubt it will hatch now.

Suzanne said...

Good sunny morning, Jim. Beautiful day out today!

Suzanne said...

Both were squaking at something, now both are taking off after something. Beauty is off the egg.

Suzanne said...

Well, they're both out of cam view now. Egg is unattended, first time I've seen that since I've been looking in on these two.

Suzanne said...

Beauty is back, and if you look closely, you can see her turning the egg.

normabyrd said...

GOOD MORNIN' EAGLE BUDDIES!!---STEVEN---STILL ADMIRING YOUR PHOTO----THOSE MOUNTAINS ARE AWESOME!!!---HELLO SUZANNE--WANDA & MITS---Haven't we been blessed with beautiful June weather!!!--I have had the STORKS on while I had my coffee!!!----You can watch that site a long time!!---Haven't checked your BBIRDS yet WANDA---Did check on the "LITTLE PRINCE" MITS---& SUZANNE---I, too, have noticed the size of our KENT "KIDS"!!!!---GREAT PARENTS TOO!---They keep close to the nest!!---I can't figure out the PA FALCONS either---The site says they should fledge the wk. of 6/11----I don't think this cam site is as good as last years---We could see more of the area---Do you think???

Suzanne said...

Parent and fledgling, mantling, in BW eagle nest.

Suzanne said...

Now just the kid.

normabyrd said...

HELLO MOVIN' JIM!!---How is the weather in CA?----Beautiful 68° in the WV mountains!!!

movin said...

I'm peeking at the PA Peregrines, and it does look 2-3 could fly at any time.

Does anyone know why sometimes Windows Media Player works fine at that site, and other times I have to go to Real Player or watch nothing??

Jim

normabyrd said...

SUZ---GREAT MINDS---ho!---JIM certainly knows what our weather is like here---ho!----Did you find the message I left yesterday about the MILLER PARK EGG!!---I BET it doesn't hatch----OH LORD!--Wouldn't it be a BEAUTIFUL MIRACLE to see it hatch!!!

normabyrd said...

JIM---I have the same experience every time I check that site!!!---Don't have an answer!!!

Suzanne said...

3 of the falcons are on the very corner, and one is flapping his wings. Will he go.....

movin said...

Mornin, Norma..
It is an overcast 62° in Santa Ana right now, but it's planning on becoming a beautiful, hazy 72° by lunch time.

Jim

Suzanne said...

Norma, I haven't read yesterday's blog yet, so no didn't find your message. I'll go look for it. Only see 2 falconettes on the corner now, wonder if the one that was flapping went.

movin said...

NEW THREAD!! HURRY AND YOU MIGHT BE FIRST...........

JIM

Suzanne said...

Oh, thanks, Norma. Dense, let's hope it's a real chick! That would just be too awesome! Talk about zoo attendance going up!! It would go through the roof with a chick!

movin said...

BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT ON THE NEW THREAD!!

JIM

Suzanne said...

Mrs. B is off those eggs again. What's the deal with that? Mits, think you asked Wanda if she had another one in her..didn't see where she answered you. Hey Wanda... are you home???? Come to the phone, please.
Norma, they changed the cam views in PA. Think I may like these better.

Now down to 1 chick on the corner, and he's looking down. Did they go?????

Suzanne said...

Now 2 are looking over the edge. Watching a sibling???

movin said...

Susanne, and whoever else missed the new thread, COME ON OVER!
