Friday

Thanks to Suzanne for her continued early am vigilance to get shots of our eagles visiting the nest. They seem to be coming in around 5-5:30 AM every day. We have not been seeing them as much during the day.

Thank you, Steven. Love your photos from Maine; it's such a beautiful state.

I'm up early because we're getting ready to go to Winchester for tests. MTBR

Belated happy birthday, Jim. Burrowing owls are up in Washington.

Thanks for the new thread, Steven. My pleasure! Love watching those beautiful eagles! Thanks for the heads up, Sandy. Hope Tom will be ok on his tests. How's your mother, getting better? I don't get to talk to you much, you're usually on after I'm gone for the day, but please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers every day!

Big day in BLUEFIELD, WEST VIRGINIA......It's ANDREW'S GRADUATION DAY Congrats to SHARON on a job well done and, of course, to ANDREW for all of his hard work....Have a great day and GOOD LUCK in the future.

Morning, Mits! Sandy, love your picture, that is so cute! Peaceful.

paula eagleholic said...

Morning, all. Thanks for the new thread and picture. Yes, Steve, they have not been around as much. Was surprised to see one in the nest so long yesterday afternoon.

Suzanne said...

Jo, wake up. Your barn owl is rooting around in the nest box. Is she gonna lay an egg??

paula eagleholic said...

Anyone looked at the map on the blog homepage? Lots of visitors from all over the world!!

MITS said...

PAULA I love the map, is that new or have I just been missing it......HELLO WORLD!!!!!

Suzanne said...

Morning, Paula. This is the first time I've seen it updated! How interesting. You're right, Mits! Hello world! How cool is that.

paula eagleholic said...

LOL - VA cam has either a quick moving spider or an ant!

paula eagleholic said...

Mits - it's new, but I think the first stats are on there today.

A GREAT FIRST DAY OF THE WEEKEND TO ALL....

BW is either down or the youngsters are not visible on cam..

Norfolk appears to be having troubles too...what's with that slideshow? (Or my computer?) It only shows the first slide to me!

I viewed the banding videos before going to bed last night...very interesting operation, and Dr. Sharpe says the size and sex info will be posted when the blood work comes back.

Gotta make coffee and start getting ready for work...have a great day.

Jim

Morning, Jim. Paula, that explains why I didn't notice any updates, it always said something about starting tomorrow.
Cool view at the WA osprey cam. Both parents, both chicks, and very foggy. Neat looking!

MITS said...

Yes, that is a great shot of WA osprey family...burrowing owls are up and about.

Love the sunrise on the Kent and Puget Sound nests. All seems peaceful at both places.
Just checked the Swallows in the Bluebird Box--eggs and nesting materials have been moved around a bit. So I guess the nest hasen't been abandoned. Maybe it is too hot for Mama Swallow to lay another egg. I watched her lay egg #3 and it seemed a more difficult process than I thought it must be.

Suzanne said...

Jim, BW eagle cam is up, the shadows are moving. Both were in there way early this morning, mantling all over the place.

Costume Lady said...

Good Morning MITS, SANDY, JIM, and PAULA. It is really going to be a scorcher here in Martinsburg/Shepherdstown (90degrees). I am going to work inside today. I wonder what Floralgirl does with her plants and flowers when it is this hot. I hope she can take the heat better than I can!

paula eagleholic said...

Jim - I can get the slideshow at VA if I click on the next picture!

paula eagleholic said...

2 eaglets at VA - 3rd one must be out and about!

movin said...

Yes, Suzanne,
As soon as I went to the BW eagle nest, I saw an eaglet at 4-5 o'clock, but at the first refresh, he disappeared.

Norfolk is up now...two eaglets are visible in the branches, but they're not doing too much now.

I was noticing last night that our cam has never been better, even at night (no spidey, almost no spirit eagles). Ironic, don't you think?

Thanks for the birthday wish, Sandy...I had a really good one, thanks to you guys and the family.

Jim

Eaglet at BW

movin said...

Paula,
When I first click on the link to the slideshow, I sometimes see a sequence of numbers at the bottom...until the first pic shows. Then nothing.

How do I get to that page to click on the pics?

Jim

paula eagleholic said...

Jim, must be some setting in your browser. ARe you using IE?

movin said...

Yes, Paula, Explorer 7, but slideshows on momsters and Bob's pics work fine.

Gotta sign off and head to workplace. [I believe it is payday though, not all bad].

Jim

Suzanne said...

Both eaglets are in the BW nest.

Suzanne said...

never mind, now only 1.

Suzanne said...

Whoever is in the nest, body position changes, but head remains down. He's eating something!

Almost forgot. This is our quote of the day today. Thought it was pretty cool!

Leaving early today, just because I can. all have a wonderful weekend. Supposed to get thunder storms starting this afternoon, then every afternoon till Monday, I think. We sure need the rain. We had the 5th dryest May since I don't know when..weather last night, but didn't hear how long.
BW eaglet still in nest.
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

2 eaglets back at BW

Have a good one, Suz!

Scorcher!! That's the word I was looking for. This weather is unbearable, and I am sunburned. Hello everyone! Hope you're sitting in AC, another hot dry day here in the East Coast Sahara. Hope we get some of the forecasted rains this weekend. The month of May is over and we had less than 1/2 an inch of rain the entire month. Someone better do a rain dance. Watering nonstop here.

paula eagleholic said...

How's the beach today, Mits?

MITS said...

Paula, right now it is 68°, supposed to be a high of 78°. Sun is shining, I will go down to the beach around 2, if it is to cool, I will go to the sundeck in back of the building....When I left Bethesda yesterday it was 92°, when I got here it was 72°...Water temp it still in the 50's...praying for rain for everyone, we really need it.

MITS said...

WHERE IS JO????? MIA!

Costume Lady said...

OK JO---
Are we going to have to send the State Police out to find you too?
Did being "Mema" do you in?
Talk to us.

Costume Lady said...

THE BLUEBIRDS may be trying to get their nest back from the Swallows. I saw a Bluebird fly in and out of the nest this morning twice. Still 3 eggs(Swallows). Bird Soap Opera---Who will stay and who will go? Stay tuned!

MITS said...

Geez, Wanda, what are we going to do with these girls????

Costume Lady said...

MITS--
I don't know what to do with them. I quess we will have to kick them out of our PJ Club!

MITS said...

Do any of you old-timers remember when Jo excused herself to go to the "lew" last year, and, then dissappeared and came back 4 hours later??????

MITS said...

tee-hee, I'm still in my PJ'S!!! Trying to figure out why this darn puter is running so slow...guess I will have to breakdown and call comcast.

Costume Lady said...

My Computer has been really slow for awhile now. Maybe it is the heat.

MITS said...

Well, Wanda it is still only 68° here in ocean city, maybe its the saltwater:):):)......Jill, if you are around can you put out an APB in Frederick county for JO!!!

Anne-Marie said...

Mits, turn your computer off and unplug your motem. Count to 60 and then turn everything back on. If that doesnt work call Comcast. You might need a "hit" for your box. I am in admin but after 19 years working for Comcast I have picked up a little here and there.

paula eagleholic said...

Mits - that was a classic!!

paula eagleholic said...

Heidigirl - does that mean you get free service? :)

Anne-Marie said...

You bet I do. I have everything.

Anne-Marie said...

Be back in a minute.

Mema Jo said...

HERE I AM, Eagle Lovers
So sorry about being late!
I get caught up reading comments and looking at blogs & oh yes, I really slept late this morning.

Mema Jo said...

No I wasn't at the Lew
Wanda, I think you hit the nail on the head about Mema. I just can't jump up & down on the bed anymore. Too tiring but it was fun watching!

Anne-Marie said...

Back again. Jo I was worried about you. Suzanne our early bird is up before the birds and lazy me has to push myself to get up at 6:00 when the alarm goes off. Mits I'm not a TV watcher. I confess. If it wasnt for "DVD"I would watch it at all. I cant stand commercals. I fast forward so I wont have to watch them. I record my favorites and watch them in half the time because of my editing.

Anne-Marie said...

I forgot to mention that our whales Delta and pup Dawn made it under the Golden Gate and out to sea but this morning a dead whale was sighted off the Golden Gate. They know its not the babe but I havent heard if its Mom yet. I'll keep you posted.

MITS said...

Thanks for the info, Anne Marie....Yes, Paula, I still remember that one with a few chuckles.

MITS said...

ok, so the modem is which part???? Remember, I'm an idiot when it comes to computers, and, terrified I will mess it up more.

MITS said...

Going out for awile...BBL:).

GOOD AFTERNOON HEIDI
Hhow did your date with your old Flame go the other day?

JILL----
You have mail.

Jill said...

Okay is everybody accounted for now? Sorry got here late. Trying to finish a scrapbook for a graduation party.

Anne-Marie said...

Costume lady my date went fine. He is the one I would like to keep. Maybe someday. We have been playing this game for 4 years. Oh well.
Mits its the little black box that has lights running up and down it. Usually the last one is green.Unscrew it from the cable that runs out of the wall. Starting again can give it a jump start. You should never have slow service from Comcast. Your TV should be crystal clear too and if it isnt DEMAND it. You pay for that right.
I am going to get some lunch. I only take 1/2 an hour because of this blog. I feel I owe the company the time I spend with you guys. Back later..

Jill said...

Wanda check your mail.

Mema Jo said...

Anne Keep us posted on the whale situation.
Sandra Our prayers are following you.
Delphia Roadrunner Baby pics over in your album on Momsters.
Paula Yesterday pics in the album are great - I missed it while being Mema - Thanks!
Jill-Wanda I have lived with a Trooper for 48 yrs - DON"T EVER CALL THEM ABOUT ME MISSING! lol

Put the alert out for NORMA
WANDA I placed your comment over on the Kent Forum about the bluebird/swallow battle of the nest.

Costume Lady said...

NORMA--WHERE ARE YOU??

I think Norma is hoping we will send some GOOD LOOKING STATE POLICE after her. I'll see what I can do. HELP ME JILL.

Anne-Marie said...

Back again. The whale that died in the bay was a gray whale. Aprox one year old. The news stated that it was still nursing. Our "Delta" and calf "Dawn" were humpbacks. They are out to sea now. Hopefully the amount of antibotics that were given them will help with the skin problems they had. Fresh water isnt good for them and melting snow water is worse. They were really battered up by the time they made it back to the ocean. The big freighters had to sit and wait it out in the San Francisco bay and they wernt too happy about it.All is back to normal.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks for that info Anne
I sure hope Delta & Dawn have made it there and don't plan on a return trip

paula eagleholic said...

Just love the way they can pan around with the Norfolk cam....they were on the hunt for an eaglet, found him on the left side of the tree.....might be the youngest...

paula eagleholic said...

It just took of the branch towards the cam....they are looking for it again...parent is in the nest.....can't find the fledgling.

paula eagleholic said...

Nope, think it is a fledgling in the nest.....NOt sure if same one or different one.

paula eagleholic said...

Now I am singing..."Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on?"

Glad the whales made it back out to the ocean :)

Anne-Marie said...

Me too Paula. It was exciting to have them visit but dangerous for them. I would rather watch them from a hill above Marin than have them come up river.
I am driving to Tehachapi (Mojave)tonight which is about 5 hours away to help a cousin move into her new home. Its always exciting for someone to get a new home. I dont think I wouldnt want to live there but she has to. She teaches at the prison. At least she wont be paying a land lord for a home.

Mema Jo said...

Anne - don't hurt yourself helping with the move! I always am fearful of person's back injuries!
