Jo, that's what I do. In fact, the guy who designed the trap also uses a smaller soda bottle in the same way to "scoop" them. Going to make one of those too!
I'd like to think that is what is going on also, Jo,
Father Loon Power !
going to head to bed for awhile, I DO want to see Endeavor land... will catch up on the developments at the Loon Cam when I get back up Prayers for the safety of the Loon Family.... and for our families and us, as well
God Bless This Loon Nest, and God Bless Us, Every One xoxo ♥
Well, Laurel changed her settings to friends of friends. So, apparently that was not the problem. I went to her fb page to share them after she changed her settings.????????
For sure Lynn, and easy, too! I've been taking my baby steps to this point for a few weeks now. You also take measurements of all body parts, and your picture from front, side and back. What a SHOCK. Looking at yourself in the mirrow is NOT the same as seeing yourself in pictures!
On FB, Lynne has posted recently the pics from OH last year. Our group pic with our names is in with them - I think that is where Hoda was able to see us.
I saw that! Thought it must have been the egg shell. Adult on nest is really restless. Keeps repositioning.
I can not remember if the first hatched went into the water before the other hatched or not. I do remember one having trouble getting back up on the nest.
I think so Lolly, never far from parent, and parent never far from tother parent and nest while there was still an unhatched egg. I just have memories of how funny the little one was getting in and out of the nest.
No Lolly I remember seeing the chick on the loon's back paddling out in the water... I also remember that the 2nd chick hatch but something happened to it - like it just disappeared.
Much sooner than I would have liked, the second chick is now in the water!
There were several wails from the loon on the nest and the mate had come in to once more swim around the nest. The he started yodeling. There were a number of yodels and tremolos.
Then the loon on the nest left the nest to join the mate. And the chorus of yodels and tremolos continued. I could hear flying tremolos from a loon overhead.
The chick sat exposed on the nest with the second egg.
Everything in me screamed 'Stay put!'
But in response to all the calls, the chick made his way to the edge of the nest and bravely without hesitation jumped into the nearly dark, wavy water at 9:16pm CDT.
Right now he is out there somewhere in the blackness!
Well, gonna head for the tub. Maybe I'll try to sleep there for awhile. Can't decide whether to stay up for Endeavour or set the alarm! One or the other.....for sure! If I'm not back, you'll know I opted for the alarm clock! I just hope it doesn't wake Liesl!!
Sleep tight, all you sweet friends! A final HAPPY B-DAY to JIM and my JENN!
I just noticed something on fb. When I click share I have to either share on my wall, share to a group, or select one person at a time to share on their wall. I shared it with some of you. Yes, I am staying with this til I solve the problem. The video is no biggie but the problem is. LOL
Thanks Lynne - I had earlier been on his blog but nothing had been updated - so thankful that Larry knows what is going on... as he said -- What a day filled with drama! Oh am I ever so tired of having to hear that phrase...
We will wait to see what the morning light brings!
I haven't checked on Isla today...has there been a hatch? I am fearful that maybe her eggs were not viable. There should have been a hatch by now, right?
I think you have all gone to bed? Are there any of the western Momsters still awake? I am hoping to stay up to see the Endeavor fly back in again...God's Speed to all of them and Good night and God Bless to all who already wnet to bed
I am up Hoda, but just got on to say good night. I am pooped! Yard work did me in today and then I had work to do inside after that. But, we are ready for a house guest and partially ready for the party Friday evening.
Heading to bed. Night Hoda, night all! Sweet dreams!
Sorry to hear that Judie & Darth are going to be without A/C for a while! That's miserable! Prayers for some relief for you!
I'm worried about the baby loon. Sure hope it hasn't been lost. :o[ Lots of prayers for it!
Well, I need to get some sleep, so will say goodnight now. Prayers for everyone and every creature. I'm making sure the porch light is lit. Enabling both security systems. Sleep well, and I will talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you! :o]
Good night Lolly and Andrea. Sleep well and sweet dreams. Lolly I am glad your house is ready for your company and your party...its a lot of work...sleep well.
Magpie, Margy are you up and watching the Endeavor yet? They are nine minutes to entry the interface. I wonder what does it feel like to renter into gravity ...God's Speed to them all...
Lori I wished I could bottle up some cool weather and send it down there...a few people wrote about not being with AC today and it was hot they said...It was jacket weather for me today...
Yes I am watching the NASA TV and they are about to renter into gravity!!! EXCITING!!! Great team work on their part both the crew and the people in Kennedy Space Centre in Florida
I was just reading Larry's LOON BLOG. He was writing of the missing baby loon and said this is too much drama...well, what does that remind you of? What is up this year?
The good news is he said they're waiting for first light and hope to see the chick in the nest. I hope so, too.
I haven't check for Vulture babies yet because I just want to think they're not having to endure this heat yet. Praying for no drama here.
LYNNE - your avatar is WAY COOL, or very hot! So proud of you heading into Day 2 of your diet makeover! You can do it! I find it hard eating 6x a day, too. I have a weigh in today. UGH!
KAY - I hope you had a great time with Seth yesterday and managed to stay cool together.
Thinking of all those who are trying to sleep in the heat now: JUDIE & Darth, and hopefully PAULA's power came back on.
And, MEGAN, you must be exhausted working in this heat. Do you wear a wet bandana around your neck to help stay cool? They say it helps a lot.
LOLLY - A party and we weren't invited? Huh! lol
WANDA - Wow, 43 for dinner. That's incredible. Guess the Good Word is spreading. You are an angel.
I'm sure I'm forgetting many very special MOMSTERS, but I'll (hopefully) remember later driving to work. :)
Oh, LYNN, guess JUDYE and I both want to know what makes you think they won't fix the cams until fall??
Hi MARGY ! Checking in to see how loons are doing and there is Mom sitting tight. Anxious for daybreak there so we can see if the little one is afloat or what ??? Does she ever sleep ?
Yes, HODA, it was a very successful mission. I never get over the thrill of these take offs and landings. There were about 10,500 people watching, that doesn't seem like many for such a momentous occasion.
I just finished reading Loon Cam posts on here since I went to bed earlier what will daylight bring Prayers for the miracle of Nature to hold fast and keep that baby safe and bring a safe second hatch
LORI, those are beautiful pictures of your birds, their homes and feeders ! Love the unique boot house, but like you find the little blue chalet most appealing. Is there a family in residence there ? Yes, I enjoyed being with Seth yesterday afternoon. He was pretty well zapped by the heat when I picked him up at school. Took Biology and Computer Science finals in very hot, no A/C, rooms. He was happy to get home, take Malcolm for a walk and then settle in to the A/C cooled home for the rest of the day. There was a paint crew making great headway on the pool and all exterior surfaces. I don't know how they were able to cope with the extreme heat !
LYNN, no word from you---did you fall asleep waiting for the Endeavor landing ? Funny you should ask about the ice cream yesterday. I stopped at Kroger on the way home from Julie's. They had it and it's in my freezer, waiting for Seth's next visit. Will let you know how he likes it !
OK I will say GOOD NIGHT now as they are doing replays and the crew is off board... Good Morning to all the Momsters who are up and who are about to get up. I hope the baby loon is doing OK and will check with this blog in the morning...Goodnight.
Good Night Hoda xo ♥ I need to catch some more sleep also
Lori, I will look at your pictures before work - and go ooh and aah then ☺
Kay, that's miserable, Seth having to take those exams without A/C - is that normal? or was something broken? So nice you could be there for him after all that Enjoy that ice cream !!
MARGY, apparently only the offices have A/C at this old school. I'm not sure how many Columbus system schools have it, but not many. Most years it isn't such a problem. This heat wave is about one month early. The school year starts up earlier than ever this year, August 24th. If typical, it will hot, muggy and miserable for the first few weeks. Seth has a low tolerance for heat. :(
I'm here. Everyone else went back to bed after the successful landing of the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
I've got the Loon cam on waiting for the first light to see the baby loon arrive atop the father or mother loon's back. They're precious cargo carriers!
Here's the latest from LARRY on the LOONS at 1am - SOUNDS ENCOURAGING! :O)
--- LOON UPDATE 1:23am ---
After resumption of more calls from the nest and the lake, mostly wails, the loon on the nest got off and into the lake.
I really could not see anything on the exposed egg that indicated hatching.
However, when she came back and rolled the egg, I am almost positive that I can see a pip hole in the egg.
The plaintive wails continue from both on the nest and on the lake.
But the best news is that I am almost positive about also hearing the chick. I could not believe it at first and did not want to get my hopes up.
But it is there!
I have not seen the chick nor have I seen the other adult loon.
But I do not think I am imagining what I am hearing. I am close to 100% sure that the chick is somewhere close by.
I would like it to be on the back of the other loon rather than swimming in the water. He is capable of swimming but there are too many big things in the dark that would love a little loon snack. So I don't want him swimming.
The loon on the nest continues very plaintive calls. And the chirping continues.
But I feel better going to bed now 'knowing' that I have heard the chick and he is obviously still alive even though I have not seen him with my own eyeballs. I can maybe sleep a little bit at least.
Last day of kindergarten today. Can't believe the year is over. We have our little "performance and graduation", then it's time to clean my classroom, do progress reports, and start moving to a new room.
Hi Judy - I asked Lynn to tell us why she thinks that the cams won't be fixed until fall. PAULA put in a note asking about it but hasn't heard anything yet.
I wonder if Lolly got her video to post I just looked I can't find it I see the vide her and Hoda shared about the recycling a bottle but no slip and slide Hmm
It has been a hectic week. I am so ready for it to be over. My avatar is me on the zip line at Antietam Recreation. Yesterday was our field day, then all the teachers and their kids came to my house to relax with some adult beverages and pizza. I feel like I have had a never ending flow of people at my house!
wow look like we had an all nighter last night did you all get some sleep before the shuttle landed or did you stay up How can you do that and go to work or even survive the next day IMy ass would be dragging if it was me
Did you like yesterday's weather- let's do it again today...Mostly sunny. A chance of thunderstorms and showers in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms may produce damaging winds and large hail in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 90s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
weather man giving warning for this am with the haze and the smoke in the area from all the brush fires and drought Until later when the sun comes up and burns off the haze and winds pick up Yesterday it was awful walking out Like a slap in the face OK of to work I go HAGD
Here is a video of the eaglest being returned to the nest not for sure if you all seen it Was just posted on facebook and I know I didn't see it yet RETURNING TO THE NEST
I was concerned that I didn't see the baby on the Mate's back this last time, and there's GOOD NEWS!
From LARRY's LOON BLOG at 6:30cst this morning - few min. ago:
There is one question on everyone's mind, including my own. What happened to the brave little chick who jumped into the water in the dark last night?
I am happy to report to you that I have seen him swimming with the male not too far from the nest just minutes ago!
HE IS SAFE!
So all of your/our hearts can relax and rejoice.
The plucky little loon has made it through the night and he seems to be doing well.
The male just let out several yodels that he broadcast to the whole lake. And there was our little loonling swimming bravely beside him. Apparently strong and doing well.
I know I went to bed with a heavy heart last night. Actually not too many hours ago! Wondering if he would make it through the night.
But he has!
So now we wait for the other egg to hatch and hopefully see TWO healthy little loonlings swimming around.
I can't see Live Loon from work, so will definitely be watching OUR blog posts about it Sounds like Larry the Loon Guy didn't get a whole lot of sleep either
Lori, I did not get a chance to open up your pictures, will do so from work !! Then I will Ooooh and Aaaah ☺
We didn't "hear" from Jim yesterday, wonder how his Birthday was !!! Hope it was Stellar !
time for me to pull it together for work here
Megan, thanks for the weather report. I am going to make the 6th cutting of lettuce leaves here tonight ☺
Best wishes, for a Good, Safe, Healthy Day today for Every One
Papa LOON is close to the nest again and this time you can see the little loony swimming on the back side of Papa Loon, and behind Papa near his tail. He is keeping the little one safe. God Bless them! How sweet.
Water at the LOON Nest is much, much calmer now than it was 2 hours ago, and this is the closest the Papa Loon has been to the nest so far today. Mom LOON is very excited with her neck all stretched trying to get closer to them.
Yes Lori, I think so too, believe I see little duck and wing feathers moving on Pop's back. Plaintive but not distressful calls from Mom from time to time
MARGY - No new Loon update from Larry at this time. Chatters also wondering why Dad is coming in and going back out away from the nest. Maybe the water is still too rough. Just wanted to keep you posted. I know it's frustrating when you can't see & don't know what's happening. ♥
MARGY - Baby LOON and Dad still floating on the lake. Guess they had horrible wind there yesterday, but it's still calmer than early this morning.
One chat room person - (gosh, I hope they aren't reading this like we did with OC) - said they saw the chick on Dad's back again.
Baby was swimming earlier, but Larry says that's okay he's able to swim, but needs protection from predators. No new update from Larry. Trying to answer all the questions I think you're wondering about.
I have a weigh-in at 10 but should beno problem to get you another update by noon. Will try for sooner than later.
Good morning! First thing I did this morning was go to Larry's Loon blog...and yea, he has seen it! Could not believe I was watching when Little Loony jumped into the water. I thought at the time, this is not good! I think a ramp to the nest needs to be built. But, I am a happy camper now!
Rodney gets here late this morning. Still have a few things to do, but basically ready. Going to bake tomorrow for the party. Going to make bars for dessert. Need to got to the store too, need fresh buns and meat.
Oh, and sorry I did not invite all of you over. (I did invite you here for Open House, though!) But, let me tell you about this "party". A bunch of retired aeronautical engineers is not exactly what you call a lively party. LOL Jack is 70 and he is the youngest! I would definitely have more fun with you here!!!
Morning all! Hoping that the loon nest drama has settled and all is well. I DID stay up and watch the shuttle landing.....and then slept like a log until 7:30!
DanaMo.....congrats on the end of another year! Love the zip-line pic!
As for the nest.....I just think that since we have no eaglets that NCTC is not going to put fixing the cam at the top of any priority list. Considering the multiple difficulties it has posed, they may need to reconsider the power issue all together....and I just don't see them putting a lot of time or money into it at this time of year. Remember, for the early years, the cam was turned off after fledging. So....just stating my opinion.
Rodney, just called. He has been at the airport at Charlottesville since way early this morning and they cancelled his flight!!! Mechanical problem. He will be here at 9 tonight. Wow! I have a whole day ahead of me!
Lynn, sad to say, but I think you are right about the camera. and that just sucks.
GOOD Mugning everyone! Least there is a small breeze today, and a front coming through later that will take temps and humidity back down to a more comfy level!
LYNN - thanks for your opinion. I just didn't want to hold out any false hope. You're probably right.
LOLLY - At least they are intelligent men who will be at your party. Sorry, there'll "beno" available single Momsters there.
And, LOLLY, I hear you on that RAMP idea for the loons. Was thinking the same thing. Hey, a floating ramp would be easy for someone with aeronautical engineering skills.
Lynne, you asked last night if it was humid here. At the moment, not too humid. It is at 74% humidity. It really was not too bad here yesterday but the temps are going up the rest of the week. Not too good for the party, however Jack is going to run the sprinklers early Friday afternoon. That will help with how it feels.
thanks to all for the posts about the Loon Cam and other important things.. do what you have to do, don't worry about me, I think I can check Larry the Loon Guy's blog...and I know a lot will be watching and chatting today
That little loon that stinker. I was watching for it so much. So it jumped into the water and the little boy-is a big boy swimming around. Now on Dad's back. Water is choppie again today.
Well I'm glad it hatch and is paddleing around and is ok. ( :
Kay that is terrible Seth had to take those exams. In a room that had no A/C.
Wanda praying about your knee. Praises you had 43 for dinner WOW!
Sad that Isla Loch of Lowes eggs don't look to be hatching this year. After all that in her making it back here. Maybe whatever happened last year with her being sick has something to do with them not being viable???
Praying those with no A/C either are able to get their units put in. Prayers also for those that need fixed or new A/C units like Judie.
Well I read the weather. I sure hope since I have to go to town for my hair cut today. That I don't run into hail again. Last time thought it was going to crack my windshield.
Thanks for posting the video of Dr. Sharpe putting WE eaglets back. Loved it !!
06/01/11: Good news this morning! All three chicks were visible and looked healthy and alert. The heat will continue for another day or so, but then it should cool off.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 457 Newer› Newest»you saw it go into the water Lolly? oh dear....makes me very nervous.
THIS IS THE FUTURE.........
OK Lynne, I will change my actions on that, sorry !
Lolly
where is little loonie now ??
I just turned the cam back on
Hope he's with the other parent, hopefully has climbed up on it's back.
The Loon situation is very
disturbing..... I pray he gets
back in to the platform.
Little Loony is still out on the water.
oh yes Margy, please do...they cause SO much destruction.
I really need to get my trap together. I'm just going to go buy another liter of soda and dump it. Plan to do that tomorrow.
After rolling over from it's back, it walked to the edge and jumped in. Last I saw it he was with a parent.
well, hopefully he's managed to climb about his other parent by now....
Lynne, can you see the video now on fb?
no Lolly, I can't :(
Stink Bug Extermination: Small amount of Water in bowl with liquid detergent. Throw
SB in it - don't waste water
flushing it.
once the babies go out into the water do they ever climb back on to the nest? I know it happens fast, but this seems a little too quick?
They think Little Loonie is on Dad's back going for a ride on the
lake....... I sure hope he is.
Ok Jo - I was thinking about that...thanks...
the good thing is that I don't see very many of them
I think so Margy....
Jo, that's what I do. In fact, the guy who designed the trap also uses a smaller soda bottle in the same way to "scoop" them. Going to make one of those too!
I had been using an old frosting container with a lid for my "captures", filled with the soapy water and when I get a load of them, FLUSH!
Lolly I add my 'no' to Lynne's 'no'
I'd like to think that is what is going on also, Jo,
Father Loon Power !
going to head to bed for awhile, I DO want to see Endeavor land...

Well, Laurel changed her settings to friends of friends. So, apparently that was not the problem. I went to her fb page to share them after she changed her settings.????????
I hope Paula's power has stayed on and I dearly hope that Judie and Darth are able to catch some good Z's in this heat without air conditioning !
Margy, farmers and orchardists are begging people NOT to put the SB's outside!!
sing it with me now....
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
Lolly, that's a no on the video.
House is finally cool enough for Nugz to come up out of the basement!
JudyE was saying something about Sharon posting a pic of the group.....don't know where or when!
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find your girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Breezy at the loon cam
Copy that Lynn, I will NOT do that anymore, thanks, I should have known !
Sounds like a sensible diet plan, Lynne! Especially since you've already had luck with it before.
It was I that posted the group picture with the names of everyone, the one Wanda made.
Yup Margy, my power is good.
Lynne I can't post comments on your blog either...getting tired of this!
For sure Lynn, and easy, too! I've been taking my baby steps to this point for a few weeks now. You also take measurements of all body parts, and your picture from front, side and back. What a SHOCK. Looking at yourself in the mirrow is NOT the same as seeing yourself in pictures!
No,Lolly.....Flash-mob is there, tho'.
wonder what the heck is up with all of this nonsense? Going to see if I can post comments..
Oh, Lynne, okay....guess JudyE was confused! On your blog or on FB?
Lolly, I think that if you had shared it, it would show up on all your friend's pages......we wouldn't have to go to yours!
No Lily report tonight---they had a power outage after a wind storm. Hope everyone there is safe!
Paula, I left a comment on yours...it seems to have posted.
I double checked my comments settings and it's still set at "anyone can comment".
on FB Lynn, it's in my NCTC album but I just shared it....I think!
On FB, Lynne has posted recently the pics from OH last year. Our
group pic with our names is in with them - I think that is where
Hoda was able to see us.
I'm not getting the Shepherdstown Eagle Cam Fan page posts in my newsfeed for some reason.
lolly I saw the flash mob video on recycling on your Face book...GREAT. THANKS
Strange cries from the loon on the nest...now other loon in the water calling...calling back and forth now
Good one Lynne about
Hotter then a match head!
I thought it was a WONDERFUL picture of some of you on Facebook and how happy it made me to see you...Thanks again.OH 2010 with labels.
one of my FAV songs Jo...by the Lovin' Spoonful!
I see an egg but no chick under parent....can't see little one on other parent
Lynne, love that song! That's from my teenage years!
Okay, saw the pics on FB! So much fun!!
I can not get the loon cam to come up...keep me posted PLEASE. I sure hope the little tyke is OK...is he still with a parent?
saw the other Loon in the water. It is too dark to see that little baby in the water.
other adult at nest....
LOON CAM
Is that baby in the water, right at the edge
Oh, I do hope that have not lost that baby!
where is the baby?
I see both adults and they are doing lots of strange calls.
Okay...going to be sick!
Both off the nest now.
There they both went
both adults off the nest...no baby in sight. UGH.
There are no new posts on S'town Eagle Cam Fan page since the 23rd!
Guess since there's no cam to watch, no one has anything to share there!
Not good!!!
Parent back rolling egg and plotzed on it
Those have got to be tough eggs! LOL
One adult has returned to the nest to incubate the egg.
I imagine the other is searching
for the chick.......
I don't like lost chicks!
they are not at all graceful out of water, are they?
I remember the baby loon coming back to the nest, and on the parent's back. At least until the second egg hatched. Am I crazy??
egg shell just got chucked over!
Not sure if that was egg shell or not Lynne, it blew away in the wind!
Is Larry saying anything on the blog?
The loon is very very awkward on land due to their legs being short. It is even hard for the adult to get back up on the platform let alone a chick.
I think that the 2nd egg is hatching
Right now he is out there somewhere in the blackness!
that was Larry's post from 2 hours ago, or one given our DST. SECOND chick in the water??? I'm really confused....
Prayers for all.
I just noticed something on fb. When I click share I have to either share on my wall, share to a group, or select one person at a time to share on their wall. I shared it with some of you. Yes, I am staying with this til I solve the problem. The video is no biggie but the problem is. LOL
P.S. Maybe Larry is confused, too, Lynne! There certainly wweren't three eggs, were there?
no, there were only 2!
Lynne, I think that was a typing error on his part. It is the first chick in the water. We know that the Loon is sitting on the second egg.
Lynne What date comments are you reading?
And, since he made that post the adults have both been on the nest with no chick. So, we know the little guy is out there alone.
JO,
Larry's Loon Blog
well, I guess we'll have to wait til morning light.....
CHANCE OF SEVERE WEATHER TOMORROW for many of us, so keep those eyes to the skies!
Loons calling now
Thanks Lynne - I had earlier been on his blog but nothing had been updated - so thankful that Larry knows what is going on... as he
said -- What a day filled with drama! Oh am I ever so tired of having to hear that phrase...
We will wait to see what the morning light brings!
I haven't checked on Isla today...has there been a hatch? I am fearful that maybe her eggs were not viable. There should have been a hatch by now, right?
Me too Jo.
No chicks yet at LOL Lynne.
awww. Do you happen to know if it's past time now?
Hot Dog, it's down to 80 now!
We are at 82, heading up to middle 90's tomorrow.
Change your calendars in 9 min
yeah, last 8 minutes of having health insurance!
and 8 minutes to Meteorological Summer!!
I don't know, Lynne.
Heading to bed, see you in the morning light!
(((Hugs to all♥)))
Is it humid there Lolly?
Today (31st) was day 42 for the 3rd egg, not looking good there.
awww. well, it's nothing short of of a miracle of nature that Isla is even still with us!
well, I'm heading to bed too. Off tomorrow!
Good night and prayers for all!
I haven't gotten an email update from Chrissy for a while. Hope she is OK
I think it is a very good idea to
head to bed.....
Good night everyone
Prayers for all
((hugs)) for all ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I think you have all gone to bed? Are there any of the western Momsters still awake? I am hoping to stay up to see the Endeavor fly back in again...God's Speed to all of them and Good night and God Bless to all who already wnet to bed
I am up Hoda, but just got on to say good night. I am pooped! Yard work did me in today and then I had work to do inside after that. But, we are ready for a house guest and partially ready for the party Friday evening.
Heading to bed. Night Hoda, night all! Sweet dreams!
Hi, Everyone,
Getting here kind of late again.
Twenty Minutes to touch down!!!
Thanks for the countdown HODA - turning on the TV now, then off to work.
Have a fabulous Momster Day!
Have a GREAT DAY at work Lori...Thanks for the update on the baby loon, I hope it is in the nest at day light.
Endeavour is back on Earth! Nice landing.
Safe and Perfect Arrival. Praises to the Lord Almighty.
I'm here, Hoda..
Hellelujah - Welcome Home Endeavor !
Safe trip travel to work, Lori ♥
Margy, Thanks for the NASA TV link
It is indeed Awesome and I am glad I got to watch them. Great Landing.
You're so welcome, Hoda...
It's been great sharing the wonder with you
I almost missed this....glad the second alarm clock kicked in!
xo
kinda funny, the ISS tracker site still says
ISS-Endeavor flyover at 0400 here.
ISS crew must really enjoy having the Shuttle crew visits...
Good Morning Endeavor watchers ! I've been with NASA TV since 10 minutes before the awesome touchdown. Hurray for Mark Kelly and his team !
Good Morning Kay ☺...
these post-landing checks take quite awhile
so much technical detail
there will probably be some replays once in awhile of the landing
They have done well KAY...
Hi MARGY ! Checking in to see how loons are doing and there is Mom sitting tight. Anxious for daybreak there so we can see if the little one is afloat or what ??? Does she ever sleep ?
Hard for me to say good morning, it is only midnight here...excuse my manners Good Morning Lori, Margy, Kay ;^)
Yes, HODA, it was a very successful mission. I never get over the thrill of these take offs and landings. There were about 10,500 people watching, that doesn't seem like many for such a momentous occasion.
Goshawks are looking good this morning. One chick doing big stretches, the other snoozing. No adult in sight at the moment.
I just finished reading Loon Cam posts on here since I went to bed earlier
what will daylight bring
Prayers for the miracle of Nature to hold fast and keep that baby safe and bring a safe second hatch
HODA, are you heading for bed soon ? I think I'll go back for a while myself. Can catch any further NASA news conferences, etc., later.
LORI, I'll be back, but not sure how soon !
Til' later ♥♥♥♥ !!!!!!
Good Night Hoda xo ♥
I need to catch some more sleep also
Lori, I will look at your pictures before work - and go ooh and aah then ☺
Kay, that's miserable, Seth having to take those exams without A/C - is that normal? or was something broken? So nice you could be there for him after all that
Enjoy that ice cream !!
MARGY, night, night ! Hope you can get some more rest, too. See ya later !
ok Kay
We'll catch up with Lori in a few hours
going to check the Loon nest, then head for the pillows and re-set the alarm clocks
xoxo ♥
MARGY, apparently only the offices have A/C at this old school. I'm not sure how many Columbus system schools have it, but not many. Most years it isn't such a problem. This heat wave is about one month early. The school year starts up earlier than ever this year, August 24th. If typical, it will hot, muggy and miserable for the first few weeks. Seth has a low tolerance for heat. :(
Okay Kay, see that...that's pretty rough
Loon Cam, quiet, Mom roosting...
Good Night Now...xo
Stay safe little loon until morning comes!
MOMMY LOON IS GETTING VERY EXCITED AND I SEE SOMETHING IN THE WATER COMING CLOSER!
It's a DUCK!
Wow still no cam.
Can see a boat on left side of LOON CAM - looks like it's leaving a wake, so it's moving, and headed toward the LOON NEST.
Hi DanaMO!
Last day of kindergarten today. Can't believe the year is over. We have our little "performance and graduation", then it's time to clean my classroom, do progress reports, and start moving to a new room.
Good morning Lori. I have missed everyone. It's been a crazy weekend and week so far already.
YEAH Dana - Happy last day! Your little ones are moving on. Gosh, you've had a hectic week.
Good Morning Eagle Buds I wish we had a cam to look at ;-(
Nothing but a blue screen on the still cam Does that mean they are working on it????
I feel like I have had a never ending flow of people at my house!
wow look like we had an all nighter last night did you all get some sleep before the shuttle landed or did you stay up How can you do that and go to work or even survive the next day IMy ass would be dragging if it was me
Checked the Loon Chat Room and someone said that it was the LOON MATE that we saw, then it swam out of view. The water seems rough now.
LOL JudyE. HODA, KAY & MARGY were all up to see the Shuttle landing. I'm up at that time every weekday morning for work.
Neat DanaMo I bet that was fun We have a state parks that is thinking about building some of those in the parks around here I hope so Looks fun
The LOON MATE IS APPROACHING THE NEST AGAIN AND IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A CHICK ON HIS/HER BACK!
Morning all:)
Dang, Loon Mate out of view again, but encouraged by the hope of a chick on it's back!!!
Oh yeah LORI in the Morning on the radio what is your shift hours anyway just curious
MEGAN, cooler and less humid tomorrow! YEAH!
JUDY - shhhhhhh. 4 - 9.
JUDYE - really like your avatar! Great pic!
Wow those are nice hours I think I could deal with that Then you have the rest of the day to play NICE
I just fell in love with the TALON It is so big
weather man giving warning for this am with the haze and the smoke in the area from all the brush fires and drought Until later when the sun comes up and burns off the haze and winds pick up Yesterday it was awful walking out Like a slap in the face OK of to work I go HAGD
Here is a video of the eaglest being returned to the nest not for sure if you all seen it Was just posted on facebook and I know I didn't see it yet
RETURNING TO THE NEST
Loon Mate closest yet to the nest.
Today is a good day!
Thank You Morning GLori
and Morning Glory it is !!
Wonderful, the post from Larry's blog...everyone on here will be smiling !
I am watching, thought I saw loony on parent's back also, but could not swear to it with the choppy waters.
DanaMo - what a busy busy couple of weeks it has been....Great picture on your avatar
Happy Last Day of School...
Good wishes for a good workday, JudyE, Megan, Lori, and all others....
"on the clock" today !
xo
Wanda
Hope you get some encouraging news today about what you can do about your knee
Hope everyone with A/C problems gets them fixed quickly and that the "down time" can be made tolerable, somehow, some way !
I can't see Live Loon from work, so will definitely be watching OUR blog posts about it
Sounds like Larry the Loon Guy didn't get a whole lot of sleep either
Lori, I did not get a chance to open up your pictures, will do so from work !! Then I will Ooooh and Aaaah ☺
We didn't "hear" from Jim yesterday, wonder how his Birthday was !!! Hope it was Stellar !
time for me to pull it together for work here
Megan,
thanks for the weather report.
I am going to make the 6th cutting of lettuce leaves here tonight ☺
Best wishes, for a Good, Safe, Healthy Day today for Every One
xox ♥
Thanks MARGY.
Plaintive but not distressful calls from Mom from time to time
Wish I could stay and watch this !!
but must go NOW
xoxo
MARGY - No new Loon update from Larry at this time. Chatters also wondering why Dad is coming in and going back out away from the nest. Maybe the water is still too rough. Just wanted to keep you posted. I know it's frustrating when you can't see & don't know what's happening. ♥
MARGY -
Baby LOON and Dad still floating on the lake.
OK - the "beno" is a typo. No jokes now! Should have been be no.
Oh, I see Little Loony on the back of the adult!!!! Sitting here smiling like an idiot!!!!
LOL Lori! Do you think we are going to let that typo go by us!!! No way, Jose! Sorry you have a beno problem! roflmbo
Wow! I have a whole day ahead of me!
good luck at your weigh in Lori!!!
Today is my sister's 60th b-day---HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAIL!
Puppy class tonight. Not planning on doing much today....sure too hot to do anything outside---like sanding the railings! Or picking up sticks!
New Video of Lily, Hope, and Faith
Hope just seems too big to still be nursing! Faith is growing fast!
Morning, all!
Yay for the little Loony sighting, what a relief!
Speaking of relief, Nugz is very happy with the AC!!
I just want Little Loony to get up and rest on the nest! But, it is cute to see him on the back of Daddy!!
thanks to all for the posts about the Loon Cam and other important things..
do what you have to do, don't worry about me, I think I can check Larry the Loon Guy's blog...and I know a lot will be watching and chatting today
All sounds much better than last night
YAY!!
Good morning good thing I see have happened.
Endeavour is safely home.
DanaMo last day of class.
That little loon that stinker. I was
watching for it so much. So it jumped
into the water and the little boy-is
a big boy swimming around. Now on Dad's
back. Water is choppie again today.
Well I'm glad it hatch and is paddleing
around and is ok. ( :
Kay that is terrible Seth had to take
those exams. In a room that had no
A/C.
Last time thought it was going
to crack my windshield.
Thanks for posting the video of Dr. Sharpe putting WE eaglets back.
Loved it !!
They are still doing a lot of calling! Dad has floated into view again.
BWO update
06/01/11:
Good news this morning! All three chicks were visible and looked healthy and alert. The heat will continue for another day or so, but then it should cool off.
We'll update the Osprey Cam Web Log tonight.
Oh I see the Dad loon coming back near the nest. Chick was on his back. I can't see Dad loon now. He swam past the nest.
Gone now...Little Loony is still on his back!
Loon on the nest has really been squirming. Possibly the second egg Little Loony is hatching!???
I think it's a good possibility that Isla might be just too old to produce viable eggs at this point in her life :(
I see baby Loony on Dad's back.
Lolly, Larry thought he saw a pip hole in the second egg early this morning.
Watch out for the split!
