Lori, if you are thinking about getting another horse, Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Woodbine has many to choose from! They just got a lot from the seizure in Queen Anne Co. last week.
Liesl did well while she was alone, but she did piddle in the crate. But didn't hear a peep out of her between the time I put her in and the time I left (about 10 mins.) Didn't hear anything from outside when I got home...but she started yipping by the time I was in the door!
Here's a very weird milkshake recipe: Guinness Stout Milkshake: Beer, Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate syrup and whipped cream......might just be worth trying!! New item on menu at a DC restaurant!
I rarely eat ribs but have had a craving for them this week...then last night I think JUDIE was making them and today WANDA! I don't think they're on the diet plan for me. I want to be a FOXY mama like LOLLY! :) Congratulations on your diet success Lolly!
hI, Wanda. The desert winds have died down, and things have returned to a more normal coastal state today. The temp will still get near 80°, but right now we are enjoying the 62° of mid morning. It's pretty beautiful out there this morning.
I do love a "malt" though, usually chocolate. When I grew up, we all paid the extra nickel to get a malt. The only one who drank milkshakes would be your mother.
Boy, we had some great, classic drive-ins w/carhops, great cheese burgers, and thick, beautiful malts in the San Diego area.
I miss those days a lot, although I don't know what I would do with a carhop if I had one these days.
Have Shirley on my mind today. Prayers that all goes well, and that you feel the LOVE from all of us! (((HUGS)))!!! BTW, love your stories about your students! Think you should write a book after you retire!
Praying for Paula and Nugz, too. This situation is SO unfair! Think 20 percentile!!! (((HUGS))) for both of you!
sUSAn, prayers for your MIL. Hope she feels better QUICKLY! Tell her to rest whenever she feels like it.
Lynne2, the baby bluebirds are just adorable!!! SO happy for you, Grandma!
Holy Mother in Heaven!! It was the quarry blowing something up down the road here.....it shook every window downstairs here and I could feel it in the chair! Scared the poop outa me!
I just got off the phone--was talking to the transcription service that the Dean told me to call. She wants to see me on Tuesday! The place is in Santa Ana, only about 6 miles from my house, which is very good. Hope she is willing to let me do an externship! Can't wait! :o]
Going to change my Mom's avatar pic now but wanted JO to know:
JO - you can change the speed of your MOUSE CURSOR...go to Click on START...go to SETTINGS ...click on CONTROL PANEL...click on MOUSE, then click on the MOTION tab. It's all there.
Anybody been checking on the CRC chick? I always feel sorry for lone chicks in a hack tower; always look so sad. Kinsey has two roomies w her and it's so nice for the three to get to share this part of their journey to adulthood.
Waiting for Carolyn to get here...to meet her new "sister" Liesl! Then to run a few errands, I hope, together!
Gas was $4.09 this morning....pump shuts off now at $85 instead of $75(seems to be a Shell station thing around here for debit cards)....that gave me 7/8's of a tank of gas....argh!
sUSAn...don't want any wax or psf's or fishycures! Passing to anyone who wants them!
I think the cardinals moved, Lynne! Nest looks finished, but no sign of the birds....noticed that when the A/C is on, the exterior unit blows the bush, so it probably was not to their liking after all that hard work. Or maybe they KNEW that snake was around!
Lori-- they said they would open the doors so Noah could come and go. Man, they opened the doors and Noah was outta there. First flight out and never came back. Will be interesting to see if these three hang around for a day or so after the doors open.
ROFL, Jim!!! You aren't supposed to DO anything with the carhop except tip them!!! Yep, lots of good ol' things from the past bring back good memories!
We live not too far from property that Dupont used to use to test explosives....it could sure rattle the windows, china, etc. So glad that stopped----probably about 10 yrs. ago!
Susan...I cook the ribs til they are tender, then Gene just sets them on the grill long enough to get the BBQ sauce lightly browned or just bubbly hot...don't want to overcook the ribs.
Shirley, have been thinking of you prayerfully for the last hour +. Now I see there was a group prayer at 1. Can't wait for you to tell us how it went ! {{{{{Shirley}}}}}}}
Lori, I loved the pic of you and your mom all snuggled ! The new one is nice, too. She looks so sweet !
sUSAn, don't know who said your mom looks like a movie star, but she does ! Beautiful. And, I agree with the hottie designation for JudyE's mom, too !
Lynn, what did Carolyn think of the new family member. As if she would not love her at first sight ! I imagine Liesl piddled due to excitement upon realizing you were home. The little doxie we took care of last summer did that everytime she greeted someone at the door.
In reading my "hometown" newspaper today, The AZ Daily Star, Tucson, I noted that they are honoring Gabby Giffords as the military wife of the year. They also touted tomorrow as being International Migratory Bird Day. There is a big festival for it at Madera Canyon, a recreation area midway between Tucson and the Mexican border.
MMMM, Sweet Baby Ray, think I'll have to bake a couple of chicken breasts smothered in it tonight !
Spent a little while this morning during a tea break getting a picture of the white crowned sparrow also visiting my yard. I don't remember ever seeing it before. I was going to look it up in my field guide; Came in to check the BLOG and there was a link to its picture. Now thats cool :-)
Oh my gosh Glo...that's so cool, and weird, in a GOOD way! Both of us seeing WCS on the same day for the first time!! Let us know when you post the picture.
Well I have no clue. Better wait til I post the picture, my eyes are older than yours :-). But i had never seen it before and thought OOOHHH what is that. Come in and there you have posted a link to the bird. Too funny. Maybe His eye is not just on the sparrow but on us too.

Pretty sparrow, Lynne...never saw one of those!
Lynn, I will pass that along to MIL. Sounds like everything is going well w you and Liesl, a perfect match. So nice!

So how did that waxing treat ya, Lynn? Not a peep. Lol
What a shake!!! Coming from a girl who loves beer, I'll have to try this recipe!
OK, on my blog, pictures of my new Bluebird Babies!

Hi Lynn, Lynne, sUSAn!
I'd like to Salture everyone who picked up on my mis-typed word this morning...
Just got home from the nursery and got a ton of plants to pot - exactly what I said I was NOT going to do. Oh well, they do look pretty.
Make that Root Beer and you're on.
Funny the English won't chill their beer normally, but somebody would put all that sweet stuff in it...beyond me.

helicopter flying over loon nest
sUSAn, your Mom looks like a movie star. Very pretty.
Ok Lori and you said you weren't going to buy a horse, too. Lynn had the same idea I did, if you read back a few posts. LOL!
I hear lots of voices at the loon nest...something is going on near there
OMG something just blew up here outside....BRB

Lynne - I would have run and hidden in the closet! Glad it was something intentional.
Guinness Stout Milkshake???? Doesn't sound too appetizing. Why would anyone ruin a good pint of Guinness? LOL!
Jo, I 've heard the explosions before but NEVER like that one!
I just got off the phone--was talking to the transcription service that the Dean told me to call. She wants to see me on Tuesday! The place is in Santa Ana, only about 6 miles from my house, which is very good. Hope she is willing to let me do an externship!
Can't wait! :o]
I'm excited for you Andy!
I sure hope you get in that front door! ((hugs)) ♥
Hey it's almost 1 - time for Shirley's appointment. Let's be the Power in Numbers! Group Prayer for Shirley in 2 minutes.
Or whenever you read this. Never heard of too many prayers. :)
Lynne2, glad there was no damage to your windows! How are the dogs doing? Bet it scared them too! How close is the quarry to your house?
Thanks Lori - I'm ready for

I agree sUSAn, last year the one they had, a female named in honor of the serviceman killed in Iraq, looked so lonely. He fledged pretty fast, too.
I have the new avatar of Mom, so I'm off for a nap and hopefully have enough time to plant some stuff this afternoon/evening.
Hope it's a great day for you all.
Heavy duty prayers sent up for Shirley.

NEW FRIDAY THREAD

C(°ٿ°)D Jim
Hello sUSAn. Sending prayers for your MIL going through treatment.
Hope we hear from Shirley soon -- at least to know she's home and resting.
Kay, enjoy your Malcolm time.
If I don't make my own sauce, I use Sweet Baby Ray's, also.
Good girl, Liesl. Your mom is proud of you. As for piddle -- well, after all, you're still a baby.
Oh my, just what we need. A milk shake to go with the ribs followed by pretzel M&M desert.
Wanda's doing pork ribs, I think. I did beef short ribs last night. Baby backs will be Sunday.
Lori, we salture you for your plant planting.
Hi Jim. Enjoy your beautiful weather without the hot desert winds. I sure remember the drive in with the car hops. Lots of memories there.
Andy, everyone is, and will be, so excited for you. Just know you will get an offer. So close to home, too.
sUSAn looks like a movie star. Comes by it naturally.
Lynne2, sorry for the scare. Couldn't the quarry people post signs or notices?
NEW THREAD FOLKS!!!!
I've already posted your posts over there while we are waiting for you!
White crowned sparrow comes to visit
