@ Lolly I live in Sapulpa, OK

Christine said...

In the beginning they had trouble with a lot of lots that didn't have water sources. That may have been it. It's way more crowded now than when I was there. I haven't visited since moving here but still have a lot of friends up there.

Split time.

stronghunter said...

Well, just a little late for split time.

Christine, we were talking about dogs being scared by things earlier...and I was telling about one of my dogs who was deathly afraid of thunder. Speaking of which, when I was a kid, we had a dachshund who was and she actually had a heart attack and died during a storm. We had to keep a little O2 tank on hand to use on her when it stormed.....but it wasn't enough that time....her heart just gave out.

Margy, Carolyn had a VERY busy off day!

BBIALW. Goodnight to those turning in! Tomorrow is another day.

Leona said...

@ Paula Yes I have a couple of times.

paula eagleholic said...

Heather,
forgot to comment on landowner's observation of seeing Lib and Belle in the morning! That's great news!

Leona said...

@ hedgie wow thats cool

IrisF said...

WoW Paula, would you love to be the one that took that picture - to be that close - thrill of a lifetime!

PA Lynn - There is a train in Stroudsburg in Lancaster County, it's kind of a neat little town too. Touristy kinda, but fun to look around in. I have to admit, I've never ridden the train.
And you should go for lunch at the Hotel Hershey's round dining room. It has a great view and the food is fantastic.

Lolly said...

Oh, wow, Leona. You are not far from that new OK cam. Cool!

Leona said...

I am calling it a night. Well try to get back tomorrow. Night all...

stronghunter said...

Good night, Leona.

hedgie said...

Oh, forgot to say thanks to Paula for the article and picture----love the pic, and yep, the article hits a bit close to home.

Margy.....if the deputy didn't have an open wound, then why did he go home? Bruising??? Powerful jaws, huh? What kind of dog---a pit???

Okay.....going...going...gone!

Lynne2 said...

Just got some bad news from my friend Tracey....it was her husband that spent the last 2 years jumping through all of the hoops to get a position as a MD DNR policeman, and got accepted at long last about a month ago. Well, he herniated a disc in his back shortly thereafter. He had his last physical before going to the academy the day before he had to have surgery. Even though they knew about the problem, and knew about the surgery, the cleared him based on favorable resolution post surgery. But they just revoked the offer. They have decided that he is too much of a liability. Even though the surgery was fine and the Dr has told him he'd have no problems fullfilling his physical duties. What a terrible blow to him.

Robyn said...

Iris, we stayed at the Hotel Hershey my ex and I with Tori, their dinner was wonderful, it was a 5 course meal.

stronghunter said...

Oh, that is really sad, Lynne.

Lynne2 said...

Margy, forgot to mention...there is only one tiny flower on each stem.

magpie said...

Miserably tough news Lynne2
so sorry to read of this downturn
for your friend

Lynne2 said...

my heart is breaking for them Shirley....I cannot believe after all he had to go through to even be considered, and then what else to finally get in.....it was SO what he wanted to do. I cannot imagine how he must feel.

magpie said...

Paula
great picture links

I clicked on the eagle combat pic and it got bigger...
myu sister is not too far from Pittsfield MA

IrisF said...

Robyn, I'd love to have an excuse to stay at that Hershey Hotel, it is really beautiful.

The outlet shopping around there isn't bad either...☺

Nite, Leona!

stronghunter said...

I hope there is some other aspect of the job or something similar he can do. But I do not know much about that type of work.

Lynne2 said...

I jsut got the email from Tracey so I don't know anything more. But I have to wonder if he would be able to try again at some time in the future...and if he'd have to go through all of the rigmarole again....He was supposed to start at the State police academy in 2 weeks. He'd already given notice at his job.

Lynne2 said...

I'm hoping so Shirley...there has to be other positions other than police that he'd still qualify for! But I know that is what he really wanted to do.

Lolly said...

I am heading to the shower and then give myself a manicure. Working in the yard has done it's thing to my nails. Have a luncheon tomorrow. Need to look half way decent!

Lynne, so sorry about your friend. That is really rough. What a shame and what will he do now? Not fair!!!

Lynne2 said...

Pretty sure Steve thinks I want a divorce at this point since I think I've spent more time here than with him!

He went to bed at 8. His boss was out this past week, and so has another guy so he's been going in early and working late and he is exhausted. Next week looks no better. But, the OT will be nice.

Lynne2 said...

don't know Lolly...hoping to see or at least have time for a long talk with Tracey over the weekend. I'm thinking she's in need of some moral support herself. Hard to see your husband so disappointed....

Lolly said...

I'll be back in a little while. Keep an eye on the nest for a midnight visit!

magpie said...

not sure of the answer to those questions, Hedgie, about the dog bite

Good Night Leona and anyone aproaching the pillows soon...
speaking of which, wonder if the Eagles will aproach the nest tonight?
thought it is totally dark at the nest

sorry I can't comment to people more, well maybe that is good
but it is very slo-mo on the typing with live feed up
I type blindly and then watch the letters show up - too funny!

Lynne2 said...

Sure with I had one of those foot scrubbie things to wash my big feet and my long toe in the shower.....

Mema Jo said...

paula eagleholic said...

Night, Iris and Leona, and I think Christine finally left, too.

Lynne, sooo sorry to hear about Tracey's husband...is there any way to appeal that? Especially since he already gave notice at his job?

paula eagleholic said...

I don't think I'm going to stay up much longer, I'm exhausted...as I'm sure most of us are. It's been a long grueling week.

Hope we don't have any overnight visitors!

paula eagleholic said...

Just heard the train :)

Robyn said...

WOW can hardly see the nest at all

hedgie said...

Oh, Lynne, feeling so bad for Tracey and her hubby. What a blow. :( Can he pull his resignation from his old job???

paula eagleholic said...

OK, folks, I'm going for it. See you in the morning.

Hugs to all ♥

stronghunter said...

Good night, Paula. I am about to turn in, too. I haven't gotten a lick of school work done today, which means I have to do it tomorrow and Sunday.

stronghunter said...

See you tomorrow. Good night all.

Lolly said...

Doing my nails now. Good night to those hitting the pillows.

Lynne, you just gave me another giggle. I do hope that l_o_n_g toe of yours is scrubbed clean.☺

hedgie said...

Okay, sweet folks, will bid you all a good night. Poor Andy will probably find two empty nests when she gets here.
Yes, Paula, it has been grueling...think we are all mentally and emotionally exhausted.
Rest well, dear friends. Prayers and peace.

Lolly said...

Nite Lynn! Loved the pictures of Mai. They changed her name didn't they?

Christine, I liked your theory that maybe Belle was fussing with Turdy because Lib is back in the area.
Earl said he had not seen Lib for a couple of days. During those days Belle seemed much more accepting of Turdy.
Remember when Belle attacked Turdy? That was Tuesday--the same day that I saw 3 eagles together, so Lib might have been in the area.

I'm just guessing, but maybe there is a pattern there.

Lolly said...

Heading to bed. Nite all!

Prayers for Bev!

Sweet dreams!

Jewels said...

Hello to all. Sorry I haven't commented much today. Was a day of good times with friends I don't see often.
Heather, thanks for the report. I am glad that Liberty is still there. Leaves me hope that Belle hasn't up and threw him out on his own. So wish I understood these three eagles!

Jewels said...

Off to bed. I am tired. Sweet dreams all!!!

PammySue said...

Lynne, I loved your babysitting story.

I laughed out loud when poor Christine said, "Ok, what the heck did I miss??? How did we get to anal glands??????" Poor girl.

turtledove said...

Pammy, I think you're right. At the very least, there seems to be a correlation between Lib sightings and Belle's behavior. She's torn between two lovers, poor thing.

Robyn said...

maybe that is why she stil yells at the lad lol

turtledove said...

Was the 1:00 AM or so visit last night definitely Belle & Truder?

Diana-OH said...

Thank you Heather and Christine for updates from the nest today. Did anyone notice/remember another strange thing. The Tuesday evening (3/15) before Paddy hatched, I thought it was strange that Liberty brought a minnow size fish to the nest as opposed to a larger fish. Perhaps he was trying to bring fish without being noticed by the intruder. Just a thought.

PammySue said...

Turtledove, it looked like Turdy because you could see the dark spot on the head.

PammySue said...

Paula, I almost didn't click on the link for the picture you put up because I was just trying to breeze through quickly. I am so glad I did. It was breathtaking. Thanks for that. :)

PammySue said...

Heather, your daughters are gorgeous. But I'm sure you already knew that. I can't remember, are you going to post pics from your visit?
I just started a blog on here yesterday to post pics. It's not too hard. :)

PammySue said...

So, I finally get caught up and now everyone is gone??? OK. I see how it is. ;)

Good night, sleep tight.

Robyn said...

I am still here, had to slip over yonder to see what was said *ducks from jo*

Costume Lady said...

Well, Pammy Sue, I just got caught up too and I'm ready for bed also.
My Fridays are always so busy and looong and fun (family day).
Was doing face plants on the keyboard while catching up on comments. We have a lot of fun and interesting newbies on here. I hope you all stay with us and don't leave because we have no chicklet. We still have lots to do and talk about:)

GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS, OLD AND NEW

WV sUSAn said...

Not to humanize but eagle males r the same boat as men in that they never know how female will respond at this stage of the game. Lots o mixed signals.

From me: She is not feeling near as bad as she anticipated and that is always a good thing. I am getting ready to get my 4 hours in and then go to the hospital for a while.

T-Bird said...

Good morning my fine eagle momsters and dadsters.

magpie said...

Cathy
quick report
both Belle and the Intruder were in nest this morning briefly,
no cam view of Liberty
several reports posted on the older parts of this thread
possible a resident near the NCTC grounds has seen Liberty
look for Heather's reports okay ?
And Paula has a format with updates in BIG BOLD SENTENCES WITH TIMES AND DATES

Just hit the blue "older" thing at the top of this thread to backtrack

Costume Lady said...

Well Cathy, I haven't spent much time on here, either, but a synopsis would be...some think the intruder is a male and it seems Belle may be smitten by him. No more fights to my knowledge.

magpie said...

Helllooooo T-Bird and Buddy !

Cathy said...

Thank you, ladies--- I'll start reading!

magpie said...

it's possible maybe crows got to those owl eggs in Ky, am checking the Puleston site, they have such great information !!!

Costume Lady said...

Margy, did you see my photos of the police cars, which had a jeep stopped on the King Street overpass. It happened this past Monday and I am curious to know what was happening. Had GG with me and she is curious too. She ate a wonderful breakfast at Shoneys. You know how hard it is to get her to go out to eat, anymore. I was so pleased:)

Costume Lady said...

Morning, Thelma and Buddy:)
Are you expecting snow this evening in your parts?

magpie said...

I believe...that...let me think, who is going to the nest today ???

Morning all!
So glad to hear that Sissy is feeling better. Understand about the tea-ffiene headache---killers! Hope Tom find STRONG tea and not that watered down stuff.
Hi, Thelma!

Mai has been given back her original puppy name of Trixie + Mai. Guess the Ying part is gone.
Not really any bigger than she was a week ago when she left. She is with the original foster family in Norfolk.

Cathy said...

Thanks! I've been in the "shadows" for a few years now.... I'll comment now and then... This year has been so.... educational....

I just watched the video of Belle covering Paddy and the unhatched egg.... Has that been explained? I'm having a difficult time separating MY emotions from what I is instinctual for these beautiful creatures.

I've learned a lot from this blog and from Belle and Liberty--- and it's good to know there are other sweet souls in this world that are touched by these magnificent birds.

hedgie said...

Missed morning nest appearance---I was still sawing logs at that hour.

paula eagleholic said...

Belle was probably trying to keep them away from predators by burying Paddy and the egg.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Good morning Cathy and glad you decided to blog. We are definitely an ever-growing big happy family! We are all about spreading this beautiful message and not the mess! :)

Tom is taking Sissy her own tea from here.

stronghunter said...

So was this blog around before the Momsters? I see Cathy was here in 2005.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

This blog didn't start until 2006 when the cam was installed. She probably has had a Google account since 2005.

paula eagleholic said...

Blogger was around before this particular blog was created.

stronghunter said...

Okay. Thanks, Sharon.

Bob In Frederick said...

Hi folks. I've been out of pocket for a few days. Please save me the time of reading all the posts over the past several days and fill me in on the current thinking regarding the intruder. I am getting the idea that she is really a "he"? Thanks much.

stronghunter said...

Hi Bob,

Yes, we think it may be a young male competing for Belle. She has not been entirely kind to him. But then she is has not always been gentle with Lib, either.

stronghunter said...

It seems that Lib is likely still in the area, though. Three eagles were seen in the vicinity yesterday.

Bob In Frederick said...

Thanks, Shirley. Interesting development.

magpie said...

Hi Bob in Frederick
know you will get this from others:
yes, current thinking is that the intruder is a near-adult male
Resident male Liberty possibly seen flying in the area still but not viewed on our cams
visitors to the nest and local residents have been watching

The Intruder and Belle, have been spending time in the nest together, daytime and sometimes at night, and
both probably perching above the nest in branches, often

magpie said...

Lynn:
Thank You for that complete listing of upcoming Nature and Wildlife things coming up!
So many I want to attend, but I think the visit to Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area has me most interested for now....
was aware of all the Morgan County things and definitely will try to do some of those ! Want to get to Eidelon in the worst way!
Met the guy last week who gives tours, he offered to take James and me on a schedule that suit us ☺

hedgie said...

Pic on front page of our paper is of the school sup't. receiving a distinquished citizen award from the Boy Scouts----it's an EAGLE statue!! Cool!

Bob In Frederick said...

Thanks, magpie. Guess I should do some research, but it's so much easier to ask a question here and get an accurate answer .... I thought eagles mated for life. No so? Otherwise I'd think Belle would be ignoring the new dude.

Nice, Lynn.

By the way, I enjoyed the pictures of Mai last night. I know it is an adjustment for you, but I think you did the right thing. Not an easy decision, just the best one.

Bob, that was my big thing too, mating for life. So I guess Belle doesn't go for Mr. Right, just Mr. Right Now.

You would have to do a heck of a lot of reading to sort things out on this blog at present, Bob.

We don't mind filling you in.

stronghunter said...

Well, maybe they mate for life unless someone else more interesting comes along. Sounds sort of like some human beings.

stronghunter said...

But we really do not know how this is going to play out yet.

Thanks all. "Mr. Right Now", huh? Clever. I like that a lot.

Off to one of the grandson's first soccer game of the season. Gotta find my gloves first.

Later, all.

well Bob, there has been some discussion of that....
more eagles, more competition...for mates and nests and territory,
more encounters, sometimes selection of the fittest...
so many factors right now
I will keep this simple, think others can do a much better job of it
We are just Team Liberty-ing it on here, because we want our original Royal Pair to Prevail ♥ ♥

Last night I watched a video of Belle and Lib someone had put on OC that was pretty funny. They were doing nestorations and Belle was pushing Lib around the way she always has. The video was about 14 minutes long, but entertaining.
