GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... SLEPT LIKE A BABY LAST NIGHT (CAPT GENE TOO). Posted some of out dinner photos from last night onto the Momsters Album. Hope to get many more today. Last night was so much fun. Looking for more fun today! Will post photos after I get home tonight. Have a good day.
Good Morning All! I am still at home - don't plan to get over to NCTC until almost lunch time. Steady rain here in the valley. Just spoke with Sharon and she was pulling into the Clarion and just sighted the Eagle Express! It is all coming together. Norma I brought home a plain piece of cheese cake last night! Thought about you as Ceil had salmon served for her dinner. ((hugs)) I'll be thinking about all of you! Enjoy Benjamin, Helen!
Okay, now I am getting extremely jealous. When Sharon reported she was pulling into the Clarion and spotted the Eagle Express I got very, very, sad!!!!
We are having the weather you guys need. Presently 57 and bright sunshine! Beautiful, cloudless blue sky!
I know....I can make Sharon jealous! Jack just made our reservations for next July for our week at the beach!!!!
I was looking over earlier comments on this string...
Remembering an old saying, which applies to crab cakes and mustard.... "Don't knock 'till you tried it."
It didn't sound good to me either, but it is.
I think Lolly's green onion concoction might be delicious too ... that one even sounds like it might be.
On something like crab, I would just dip it in a sauce, instead of spreading it on.
S'mores (I think there's a candy bar or something by that name too):
I had to look them up in Wikipedia, and, yup, I had never had them or heard of them ... sound great though. [:~D]
I have, of course, roasted marshmallows to a golden ... oops ... burnt black perfection. We used to do beach parties a lot, growing up in the Del Mar, Torrey Pines beach areas, and we always burned wieners and marshmallows to a turn ... loved the whole scene.
You can also burn both of them beautifully in a fireplace.
Anyway, the s'mores look and sound to be cause for s'more fer sher. I bet you could use some of that canned chocolate frosting on those to good effect ... try some fruit jam on it too when you get a chance. [Anybody know a good diet?? I'm putting on weight just thinking about this stuff.]
S'mores reminded me of something we did have when I was a kid. When money was thin and we couldn't afford dessert or cookies for lunch, Mom would whip up a batch of chocolate (or maybe another flavor) frosting and spread it between two graham crackers... That is really good, especially when pretty fresh.
Jim as a born Marylander, I would never consider desecrating the MARYLAND crab cake with mustard, so they for I would never think of trying it JMVHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are in Shepherdstown, got to see one of the eagles do a fly by!!! Getting ready for dinner and lots of fun with the Eaglet Momsters this afternoon and evening!!! Life is so very good!!
WHOA MOVIN'JIM!---SMORES were usually made around a camp fire!!----One would roast a marshmallow over an out-door fire on a stick & place between graham crackers!!! very tasty!----
Good Afternoon Eaglebuds! Packing up the E_M items to leave the bldg and head to the Clarion. Rain has stopped~~~~but chilly. Everyone here~~Paula, Lynn, Sissy, Suzanne, Megan, Mattie, et al say HI to all the gang!!! We watched the tree a little while ago, but no Big Birds!
Suz said "HI". I was just instructed to let you all know that. This has been a wonderful day. Liberty or Belle was in the tree right on cue. I went out to show a group of people the nest and there sat one of them in the top of the tree. I showed the eagle off, she/he flew off and the people looked and me and said how did you do that? It was beautiful. We are now heading to the Clarion. Just found out the shuttle is not running anymore so Sissy and Tom will have to run us where we need to go. Will check back in later. Wish everyone was here!
Hi there~ (Hi, Lolly!) It's me, jumping in for a quick hello~~ Have been running around with the kids, doing some shopping for some Halloween costumes for the GD & GGD. (Wish we were closer to Wanda & Gene!) Little Sierra's gonna be a bumblebee, and Courtney's gonna be a 'goth' angel. (It's a lot cuter than it sounds!) When they try on the costumes, I'll have to take some pictures so you can see. The kids have already gone over to the other grandparents' for a BBQ, and Hubby's taking a quick nap, then we'll go there too. Hubby's feeling better today, except tired. Thank you for your prayers! Little Sierra sounds kinda raspy, and we're not sure whether it's from the dry airplane air, allergies, or what. Prayers for her would be much appreciated, too. She feels fine, just sounds like she's getting laryngitis. Wow, it's SO good to see the kids! It's veeeerrrry interesting! My blood pressure has gone WAY down since they got here--it was 140/85, NOW it's 120/61!!!! How's that?!! Wish I could hide their plane tickets home!
Well, gotta go do some damage control with the hair and makeup--it's 90 here today!!! Don't want to scare any small children; it's not Halloween quite yet. Will check back when we're back home again. Take care, and I'm so glad everyone's having such a good time at the Open House!! Maybe someday I'll be able to be there. Till then, I'll be your bottle buddy!
Lolly Yes rained the hole time not hard but rained. We ate at the Eatery (red barn) in Martinsburg on the way home. It rained hard the hole way up 81 home Now I don't care what it does.
Crunch, did you get to meet some of the gang. At open house it is hard to meet as they are coming and going. Sorry you missed the dinner, but hey...you were there and I am sitting at home...far away!
Yea!!! Crunch!! So glad you had lunch with the gang. It is a fantastic group, and loads of fun! "Nuts", can be applied to some of them. Would never say who. lol
wow....that was one of the most spectacular visits yet.....they must have hurried to the nest when it got quiet.....:):)..off to fix potato salad and brownies:)
Good evening Eagle buds! We are back at the room, been a wonderful day. Wish everyone could have been here! I won a 3 foot eagle statue from the raffle tonight (sorry Megan :( ) I will have to wait till I get home to post pictures, didn't bring my card reader with me!
Yeah, Mits, we are going to paint them and then coat it in a coat of polyurethane or something to preserve it. It is so beautiful. I cannot believe we won it. We really miss ya'll. How is Benjamin and what do his sisters think of him??
Hello All! I am very glad to hear about the visit you 3 saw ! Yep! we were eating about that time! Most of the events for Open House were moved inside and was sorta nice not have to walk and walk and walk - I was able to watch the Critter show with all 4 great grand kids and my gd and gs-i-l. I was great! The lunch room was filled back at the rear with all Momsters/Dadsters!Great get together. Yes, Bob and Doris (CRUNCH) were at the lunch table and very good meeting them! (They are sorta nuts! :<) lol)
The dinner room was great - spacious and private. Lots of door prizes and then the raffle prizes were supper! We raised $300 + and the group decided 2/3 to Buddy's rehab and 1/3 to Blackwater Refuge! Bob Quinn was with us (on time and won the first raffle Mits - t-shirt and eagle coin). Sandra was there and so wanted the Eagle throw that Suz had brought - she won it! That thrilled all of us! Lolly the music box was won by Lynn/Hedgie! She got really excited when her number was called. I'll have to sit back and recall the rest of everything! AWESOME DAY !
Well ! The dinner was fun, but reading all these comments since early this morning was almost as Fun, and it feels like you are right here in the room with me ♥
The prizes were really cool! And Wanda and Mattie did such a nice job picking the winning tickets! Many smiling faces, happy winners. Ha Ha, Bob Quinn had the winning ticket for his Calendar! Then he graciously ordered that another ticket be drawn, and Wanda won the Calendar...complete with autograph ☺
Well done, organizers..with special thanks to Lynn, Ceil, Wanda and Gene, Jo, and all the many helping hands....
Oh, by the way, I brought all the leftover chocolate cake home with me ! I didn't win any prizes, but I sure made out on the dessert ☺ And I finally had the #1 Jimmy Crab Yummy Creamy thing with Toast Points. Had the pleasure of sitting near Sandy Burk and Randy Robinson, so I got some education too.
And here's my story and I'm sticking to it!.. It truly was a fun day, despite the rain. I loved having lunch in the tree room. It's almost like eating in the tree tops. It was really nice to have Bob & Doris (Mr. & Mrs. Crunch) eat lunch with us. Randy ate with us and also joined us for dinner, along with Sandy Burk, and Bob Quinn. The raffle was a HUGE SUCCESS! So much fun and lots of really special prizes. I have posted some photos on my JUST FOR FUN BLOG...will put them on Eaglet Momsters Album tomorrow, too sleepy now.
Finally home, safe and sound from Open House. Wonderful, wonderful day! Great crowd at the Open House and even a better crowd at dinner! Lots of awesome raffle items and door prizes...great food, good service.
Loretta and Frank, Sharon and Thelma, Paula, and Suz, Jo and Jenny, Megan, Bob Quinn, all headed back to their roosts, us locals headed back to our roosts, and I think the rest stayed overnight. I'm kinda tired and very nuts so I might be forgetting a few names.
Good to see that you are home safe and sound and dry, Paula... hope to see Hedgie post on here soon..... always tough to say good-bye... Yes, best time for me was being with friends....☺
Hello all you wonderful Eagle buds!! Got back home at 9:40 PM. Lovely get-together today despite the weather.Glad I wasn't driving! Would have spent the night somewhere~~~~that would be fun! I had 1 of 3 raffle tickets that weren't drawn!Frank did win a lovely donation by Margy. We think there was a conspiracy the way some people & their relatives kept winning!!!LOL Seriously, have got to thank everyone who did all the hard work of getting everything together ☺. Even if you weren't there, you were with us in spirit (or a bottle) and we thought of all. This is a great group~~~near or far!
I finally got to see Batson's Critters show...really cool...9 month old baboon, timber wolf, python, bobcat, heilamonster (sp?), tarantula. Really cool. And they had the talons birds there too, and lots of activities for kids. Sold over $100 worth of stuff for the cam!
Good late evening all. What a fantastic fun day we all had! Despite the rain....saw some nice animals and of course had great company. Sure missed all y'all. I think everyone had a good time! Who you calling nuts Crunch? And LOLLY, too???!!!! If we are nuts, then we are the best kind there are, right? Hoping that Judie and Shirley agree!!! I won Jack's lovely carved nativity music box----thanks, Lolly and Jack! I'm a real Christmas-holic so it is perfect! And I won Wanda's special calendar, too! I'm sure that everyone is as tired as I am. Heading for the tub to get the chill out of my bones. Thanks to all who made everything such a smashing success. Sleep well, dear friends. See you tomorrow. Safe travels for those returning home tomorrow, and hope everyone traveling tonight is tucked in safe and sound. Margy, thanks for your help. Hope work speedws by for you tomorrow. Love all you gals and guys!
Okay, sweet Hedgie is back at her roost too...♥ I'm going to try to get a few pictures up, will holler when I am done...guess I will head for the Momsters Album page next...
I didn't konk out yet!! Paula, I thought he was moving along! I think it's getting to be a driving role reversal~~~I used to be quick, & he would do the speed limit (he, who used to race cars!!), but I'm starting to dislike the Beltway a lot!!We were lucky tho, w/no slow traffic from problems. Outer loop was bumper to bumper around Conn. Ave. due to accident. Safe driving everyone hitting the road on Sunday! Margy, glad your shirt is OK. I had to get one for me, too. It is long sleeve weather except for those at the beach!!! Gonna get some H2o, see news & hit the hay. Pleasant EAGLE Feather Dreams ;>)
Wow, that chocolate cake is good! Tomorrow I take leftover New York Strip Steak from Friday night, and the second half of the Xango Cheesecake, and all of Hedgie's cake, and a bag of Ceil's candy corn kisses...to work. ☺
I did at least get to see the show, and checked out a couple of other things...the bug lab was cool, and the parrots were too. Got to see the talons birds too...amazing how calm they were with all the people around.
Okay, it's late ..got one pic up on Oct 16 album and a few on Oct 17 album, didm't take too many and some need brightening up. Crunch sorry I missed meeting you and Mrs. Crunch, so cool you made the trip !! ☺
I finally got to see Rivera pitch.. cliffhanger in New York.
Good Night everyone, need to find the pillows and set the alarm clock. God Bless Us, Every One xo ☺ ♥
hi all! Just popped on to get updates...sounds like a good time was had by all!! Glad too that everyone has had safe travel. Looked at the pictures up so far, thanks for getting them up so fast everyone! Good night and safe travels for everyone heading out tomorrow!
Church in the morning and then heading north to celebrate Joseph's 9th birthday. Just family getting together. For his "party" he chose to have two friends go with him to the North Texas football game and then spend the night. Laurel won't get much sleep tonight! lol
Good late night/really early morning eagle budlets. We are safe and sound in Bedford. Uneventful trip. I slept and T-Bird drove. Worked out really well for me. What a great day we had! Thanks to everybody for making it happen!
Glad to see people checking in from their roosts after travels, and Best Travel Wishes for those heading home today.
Sure was an enjoyable couple of evenings I had...thanks again to everyone for all the hard work and fellowship that went into this Open House Week-end.
Heading out to work, last day of three, and then off for a few ☺
Wonder if Ceil's Jimmy stayed up to watch until the 13th innning end of the Yankees-Angels game.... 4-3 Yankees. HE might be sleeping while Ceil drives today....☺
Ta Ta For Now, Andrea Hope Wellness Swells at your roost and the Family Fun continues.

It was so good to see you again. Don't think I will use Mapquest again for directions to the Clarion, though. Came right through Annandale on the way home. Too bad we did not go that way!

Norma, the temps have been 10-25 degrees below normal, haven't seen the sun in forever.
guess they will not have the camp ground set up....too bad:(
radar shows maybe a littl break in the rain for the nest, but not a long break
Maybe the eagles will come during the break!
We are in Shepherdstown, got to see one of the eagles do a fly by!!! Getting ready for dinner and lots of fun with the Eaglet Momsters this afternoon and evening!!! Life is so very good!!

Hi all! Back from running errands. Who, of my bottle buddies, are on?
Would dearly love to see our eagles right now. It just seems to me that the nest has never been so colorful.
Woe is me! Nobody home!
I know everyone is talking at the same time and having a laughing good time. Yea!
Hi there~ (Hi, Lolly!)

You're right, Lolly, the nest looks just beautiful with the fall leaves and all.
Too bad we don't have the live cam, so we could maybe hear some of the eagle peeps when they visit the nest!
Hi Andy! Very quiet on here. So happy for you that you have your family there. Family is sooo important! Prayers for all to feel well in this visit!
Thanks, Lolly! Will BBL....
Home and all is well. We had a good time with you all even thou it rained and rained and then it rained. Did I say it rained.
Hey Crunch! Did it rain? Guess you did not go to the dinner?
Getting dark at the nest. Guess there is no visit tonight.
BOTH EAGLES IN THE NEST!
What a shame that they are eating dinner and missing the visit.
Poofed really fast maybe they will be back.
Fantastic! Both! I almost missed them.
Whoops! One is back! What a fantastic picture.
Did you see that "log" that was brought in?
Yes, the dinner gang missed a great visit.
Poof! again!
That was a huge log, I bet they come back.
Hey Deb! So, happy to share that visit with you! What a glorious picture they provided!
They did, didn't they. I got so excited, I forgot to take pictures.
Did you see that fantastic close up? I think Lib was looking at us!
Yes, he knew we couldn't go to the nest in person, so he said Hi to us.
Oh, no! So did I! It was such a fantasticv pose. I just forgot!
I hope Mits saw them in between cooking dinner.
Deb, I so enjoyed our Sunday nite visit to the nest last year. And, now we got to experience another great visit. Wahoo!
Guess they are not coming back. Shame that everyone missed such a GREAT visit.
That was great wasn't it. Someone took a picture of us by the barn, but I never saw that picture.
Lolly Yes rained the hole time not hard but rained. We ate at the Eatery (red barn) in Martinsburg on the way home. It rained hard the hole way up 81 home Now I don't care what it does.
Yes, it is pretty dark now, probably not coming back.
I have a smile on my face, Deb, hope you do as well.
Crunch, did you get to meet some of the gang. At open house it is hard to meet as they are coming and going. Sorry you missed the dinner, but hey...you were there and I am sitting at home...far away!
Lolly Yes most of us had lunch there togather. pissssst I think most of them are NUTS haha.
Yea!!! Crunch!! So glad you had lunch with the gang. It is a fantastic group, and loads of fun! "Nuts", can be applied to some of them. Would never say who. lol
Hey Deb, I will check my pictures. I might have it. Not sure. If so, I will send it to you.
Going to fix dinner. Mits, after our talk yesterday, I am hungry for crab cakes. So heading out to cook just that!
BBL

thanks for shouting Lolly and Deb:)
Yea, Mits!!!!!! I am so glad you saw them!!!! Wasn't that fantastic! Deb and I both got so excited we forgot to take pictures.
You are right. They waited until it got quiet!
Good evening Eagle buds! We are back at the room, been a wonderful day. Wish everyone could have been here! I won a 3 foot eagle statue from the raffle tonight (sorry Megan :( ) I will have to wait till I get home to post pictures, didn't bring my card reader with me!
Hi Beverly! Anxious to hear all about tonight!
Sissy are you going to paint the eagles' talons???
Yeah, Mits, we are going to paint them and then coat it in a coat of polyurethane or something to preserve it. It is so beautiful. I cannot believe we won it. We really miss ya'll. How is Benjamin and what do his sisters think of him??
I am going to go stretch out. Another big day tomorrow. Eagles and pandas all in one weekend!!!! See ya'll in the morning light. Much love!!

Next year - ok?
Great report, Jo! Yeah, I figured Crunch was kinda nuts! ha!
Sooooo glad Lynn won the music box. That is really neat!
I like the idea of money going to Buddy. He is special!
PLAN ON IT!!!!!
Shirley brought a pecan pie to the dinner and Lynn baked the chocolate chocolate cake with P-nut butter icing and it really hit the spot!
All right, Jo. It is bad enough that we missed the day. You do not have to tell us about the delicious desserts we missed. lol
Well !
The dinner was fun, but reading all these comments since early this morning was almost as Fun, and it feels like you are right here in the room with me ♥
All the Bottle Buddies seemed to be having a good time in their bottles tonight too ! Lovely pictures of all of you !! ☺
And How Darn Cool it is that Lolly, Deb, and Mits got to see the Eagles from so far away... !!
Bravo !
Did we mention yet that it rained?
☺
Gosh, nuts, huh? Us ?
The prizes were really cool! And Wanda and Mattie did such a nice job picking the winning tickets! Many smiling faces, happy winners.
Ha Ha, Bob Quinn had the winning ticket for his Calendar! Then he graciously ordered that another ticket be drawn, and Wanda won the Calendar...complete with autograph ☺
Well done, organizers..with special thanks to Lynn, Ceil, Wanda and Gene, Jo, and all the many helping hands....
LOL Yes, Margie, he said you all are nuts! Makes me wonder?????
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
Wanda said that Crunch knew that she was Wanda, somehow, but after a brief friendly exchange, he then said, "I want to meet Hedgie...!"
Boy, was Lynn tickled to win that handcrafter box that Jack made!
handcrafted box that is....
And you should have seen it when Sissy won that carved Eagle....Wowsie!
Good Night, Wanda, Special Sweet Sunshiney Eagle Dreams for you and the Captain...♥ ♥
Evening, all!
Finally home, safe and sound from Open House. Wonderful, wonderful day! Great crowd at the Open House and even a better crowd at dinner! Lots of awesome raffle items and door prizes...great food, good service.
but the best was being there with friends!
Good night for now it is time to rest this tired body! Such a good tired!
Good Night All
Peace to you and yours
Prayers for all
((hugs)) ♥
Oh my, that was too funny when Sissy won that eagle! Was she excited or what?
Loretta and Frank, Sharon and Thelma, Paula, and Suz, Jo and Jenny, Megan, Bob Quinn, all headed back to their roosts, us locals headed back to our roosts, and I think the rest stayed overnight. I'm kinda tired and very nuts so I might be forgetting a few names.
and Jimmy and probably Ceil might be watching the Yankees-Angels game, tied 2 to 2 top of the 8th I think.
We think there was a conspiracy the way some people & their relatives kept winning!!!LOL
Seriously, have got to thank everyone who did all the hard work of getting everything together ☺.
Even if you weren't there, you were with us in spirit (or a bottle) and we thought of all. This is a great group~~~near or far!
Paula Thanks again for taking care of getting those calendars!
and Loretta... the PRP shirt is perfect, thanks! I kinda hope Frank shares his prize with you...☺
So glad to know you are on dry ground now too.
Wow, Loretta, you guys made pretty good time. Does Frank have a lead foot? LOL
Sissy's husband Tom seemed to be having a good time, as did all our first time visitors!
Love hearing from you all this evening. It has been too quiet on here today.
Wanda, thanks for the pictures. All the rest of you post your pictures!
Now, Lynn. you have to admit that we are all a bit nuts at times. lol I am so glad you won the music box. It is very special to know you have it.
Hi Lady's I'm back.

Yea To bad you was tied up all day

I did at least get to see the show, and checked out a couple of other things...the bug lab was cool, and the parrots were too. Got to see the talons birds too...amazing how calm they were with all the people around.

Hey, Judie, did you miss your nametag when you got back to your room last night? I was shocked when I look down and realized I was wearing two! I had yours and mine. Must have happened when we hugged after dinner.
It was so good to see you again. Don't think I will use Mapquest again for directions to the Clarion, though. Came right through Annandale on the way home. Too bad we did not go that way!
