I had totally forgotten how easy it was to get a screen grab at the Finland site, I was trying the complicated means that I had to use for Finney, cut copy paste and all that....that's one big reason I missed the picture of the day...
Haircut for me today too, just like Mema Jo....and maybe Sharon is in the pack too....guess we are trying to get ourselves bootiful for Open House Week-end.

The earthquake, with a magnitude between 8.0 and 8.3, had no effect on the production of the 20th season, which the spokeswoman said was not being filmed at the time.
The 19th season was also filmed in Samoa.

Well they squawked themselves right away from the nest...at BWO.
Was so turbulent overnight/early this morning (our time) at Finland I thought the cam was going to go belly up.

Paula - Dana had been on facebook over the week-end according to Jo, Jo talked to Ed, who was cheerful and excited about the Steelers game, and Norma (I think) and Dana talked by phone, I think on Saturday or Sunday....things are so-so but she is anticipating being good for at least some of the Open House week-end events....
that's all I know right now.
Not a great report, but at least there has been some contact.

Cool, cloudy and breezy here. Most definitely fall....argh!
Humidity so low that dehumidifier isn't running in basement for first time in months....so cool enough down there that I turned on the gas stove last night....felt nice, especially when I got out of the tub!
Can't get Finland cam to open at all----maybe too many watching?? Margy got some good pics!
Jim, glad your Drs. apptmt. went well. Yep, shingles vaccine has been around a while. Think they usually offer it only to seniors because complications can be so much more serious. And don't believe that you can't get shingles a second time! You can. And physical trauma can activate the herpes virus (chickenpox kind) so if you start getting tinmgling, burning, itching and pain at a site of an injury, it could be shingles! Sharon, my sister had a friend who got shingles in his eye and went blind! And you, Tom and the kids should go to the health department for your flu shots now!

I have only had shingles once and that was enough! So much pain and it was up by my right eye! Helen were they at the same place on your body each time?

PASADENA, Texas — Authorities say a Houston-area woman who was burned up at her former common-law husband fried their pet goldfish and ate some of them.
Pasadena police say it's a civil matter and no charges will be filed. The seven goldfish were purchased together by the couple during happier times.
Police spokesman Vance Mitchell says the man reported on Saturday that the woman took the goldfish from his apartment.
Mitchell says the two argued earlier about some jewelry the man had given her but took back. She wanted the jewelry returned.
Officers who were dispatched to the woman's home arrived to find four fried goldfish on a plate. The woman said she already ate the other three.

SHINGLES...I keep forgettint to ask the Dr. about that shot and the pneumonia shot. Must put that on my to-do list! I had two chiggar bites a few weeks ago and thought I was coming down with shingles. Those little buggers sure do ITCH!
Shop is ready to go, except for vacuuming up that last batch of stink bugs, which died from the bombs that Gene set off. Happy to be done and getting started in the morning. Had my first sale yesterday. A gentleman came in just to take a peek and left with a whole outfit for his daughter, accessories and all:)

There's a Yellow billed Stork fishing at Pete's in the middle of the night there. For some reason they ignored the beautiful red mask on the stork when they named it.

Shhhhhh....haven't seen a stink bug in 2 days! And none inside in 4 days, I think it's been!!! Stopped letting dog go out through upstairs door---near corner where they were congregating---and made her go out through basement; blocked off outside steps so she couldn't come up to deck...so far, so good!!!

Hi Jim, I saw that shingles vaccine notice yesterday at my doctor's office and thought I should ask about it. The teacher across the hall from me had shingles this summer. Still has red splotches on his face.
I did get the regular flu shot, too. They give it for $10.00 at school, but I am hoping insurance covers it--cost $30.00 at doctor's. Did not want to wait. Thought I should take the first opportunity offered.

I have some symptoms that are causing me concern--the reason for the doctor visit yesterday. Will be heading out for some blood work this afternoon.
My insurance plan changes tomorrow. Do not have new card. Complicates the process of making appointments. Finally got necessary info., but cannot get temporary card from computer until tomorrow because plan does not become effective until then.
Anyone ever hear of Lumenos HSA from Anthem? I hope it will be a good plan.
It has been a trying morning with calling the insurance company, human resources, and doctor's offices. I did get to listen to an argument between my insurance company and a woman at Social Security. Made me giggle (silently). I really hope the Social Security woman isn't representative of what I am going to have to deal with. I think the poor woman was senile.
Sorry I wasn't able to get on last night. I went for some x-rays and then spent time putting together lesson plans for a sub. I have missed more time than usual this fall, and, because I have moved around so much at the school, do not have all of the usual stuff I resort to for sub plans--books and movies and the like.
I've scanned over some of the messages, but please pardon me if I am a bit in the dark--I haven't read everything.
It is a beautiful fall day! I am going to try to enjoy it a bit.

Cool News - Jefferson County Deputy has won $200,000 in WV Powerball Lottery, will take home $137,000. He had been shot during a domestic dispute/standoff a year or so ago, has since recovered pretty much, fully. He is also an active Firefighter with one of the Jefferson Co fire departments.

Hi all! Had a doctor's appointment this morning, a follow up to lab reports. All is great! Great reports! Dr Carol, just looked at me and said, "How are you loosing all this weight?" Told her not loosing now, just maintaining. Yea!
Laurel is sounding better. Both boys are still running fevers, but are not worse and are eating and drinking. She told me that she spent time during the night just sitting on the foot of Jacob's bed. She was so concerned and wanted to be sure he was breathing! Having a hard time telling her to relax and accept the fact she is not going to school until Monday. Oh, and Joey is now coming down with it. Dr. Carol gave me a prescription for Tamiflu.....just in case.
Going to the funeral in an hour and then we are going to get the trailer. Prayers that we do not get sick!

Funny...asked Dr. Carol today about the shingles shot. Her office does not give it. She told me of two pharmacies that do. Need to check, one as the one pharmacy told us Medicare would not cover it. It is a very expensive shot.
Congrats on your first sale of the season, Wanda!! My kids never had a bought costume when they were little. I sewed gypsy and indian costumes, and sometimes just dressed them as hoboes. That was all I ever was as a kid, except for one party in Jr. Hi when I was Martha Washington---homemade, also!

Hard to believe that Medicare wouldn't cover shingles vacc----may be worth a call to them to verify that info. If not, try the health department---probably reduced cost there.

Hi Lynn! Yes, Carol is impressed. Yea! She is going to Weight Watchers herself. She never pressured me to loose weight, but encouraged healthful eating. She is a nurse practitioner and I love her! My cholesterol is better as well as my blood pressure. Wahoo!
Okay, need to go change close to head out. Oh, I hate this! Going to be a very emotional afternoon.
