Sissy, sorry.

SPLIT HAPPENED!

Me and my computer just had a parting of the ways!! I think I am just about ready for a new one!

stronghunter said...

Good morning.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

And, strong, that is not the first time I have been called Silly!! At 50, I take it as a complement!!

stronghunter said...

When I delete a comment, I have to log back on and then I have to sign up again. Does that make sense?

stronghunter said...

I don't think I will try deleting a comment again. At first, I thought it was something I did wrong, but now I think it is a flaw in the system.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I think I have only done that once or twice, usually by the time I notice I screwed up, everyone has already read it!! But I don't remember if I had to do that or not. My computer is wearing me out this morning!!

stronghunter said...

I was trying to type in the dark again. I need to see the keyboard!

stronghunter said...

A question--does the camera stay on year-round, or do they turn it off during the season the eagles aren't using the nest?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I think I am going to have to cut back on the number of cams I watch at one time. My computer is not the fastest anyway and all the cams really bog it down. Wouldn't matter so much if I wasn't working on it at the same time.

stronghunter said...

How many cams do you watch, Sissy?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Way too many!! I have been watching the Pete's pond cam, our cam of course, Kure Beach pier cam (we are going Friday), panda cams, etc., etc., etc. I do tend to obsess sometimes!!

Yes, our cam stays up all year and the blog goes all year. I know some shut down, but we are blessed and we are never at a loss for stuff to talk about on here!!

stronghunter said...

Thanks, Sissy. I do hear Hidey out there this morning. I guess s/he's calling to parents.

stronghunter said...

Speaking of multiple cameras, I had the Hidey-cam next to the loon-cam at one time and was thinking that it was a good thing for the loons that they were actually far away from the eagles. That was the food chain I was looking at.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Right! We have loons at the lake where we keep our boat, see them almost every time we go down there. They are so beautiful!

stronghunter said...

Where is that lake, Sissy? I have always thought of looks as northern birds. I remember hearing them in Minnesota.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Claytor Lake in Dublin, VA. I had never noticed them before this year but we have only been going down there for about 3 years.

Lori O. said...

Hidey's not here, but the Mom is off the nest at Finney Land and you can see all three of those adorable little chicks!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I know Lori, I was just looking at them!! I keep that cam up on my laptop along with Daniel's Panda Cam page!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Those baby osprey are so beautiful!!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Technology is wonderful, ya know. Who woulda ever thunk we could get a front row seat on all the wonders of nature!!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I tell ya, I understand the reasoning behind the 15 minute refresh, but I don't like it!!!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Our STAR is back!!

stronghunter said...

Bye for now. Will see you all later.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Was wondering when anyone had seen Hidey, I've missed him. I need to get up earlier. We had a good time in Myrtle Beach this weekend and saw lots of interesting things. One was the movie Hangover. It had some of the worst stuff I've ever seen but was hilarious. It should have been rated x. Don't go see it if you have a weak heart . Hope I see our favorite bird some time today. Gwen

Lori O. said...

Hi Gwen - Hidey's been in and our three or four times this morning. Little heathen just comes looking for food and he's off! LOL

Good morning, everyone. Another cloudy day today, but they say maybe some sun this afternoon!

deb said...

If there is an eaglet in the OK nest, it is hiding from view.

deb said...

Zoomed in to an empty nest in OK, then zoomed out and looking around the area.

Mits said...

Good Tuesday a.m. everyone.

Mits said...

guess OKIE flew the coop, Deb...

floralgirl said...

I just came in from the garden to get a drink and noticed something was under my van, thought it was a groundhog, but it is a fawn. Now, most of you know how I feel about deer, they are a constant problem and expense for me, but even I gotta admit, this guy is cute. He is either hurt or got separated from mom, seems to maybe have a wound near his back legs, hard to tell the way he is laying, and seems to have little fear of me. Hubby had seen him around the yard the past week, always alone. posted pics on my blog whatever.

deb said...

Megan, the poor little fawn. Is there a rescue place you can call, if you need to?

Mits said...

yeah that little tyke needs a rescue:(

deb said...

Mits, it sure looks like Okie finally fledged. I don't think they will have much luck finding him in the trees with all the leaves.

deb said...

Oops, maybe the just found him, or Maybe not, zoomed back out.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Just got on. Guess OK eaglet has fledged and they are looking for it. The cam is searching all around.

I don't know of any wildlife rescue around us. And I am usually one to let nature run it's course, I do feel bad for the little guy, and unfortunately, have to go somewhere later, but for now I'm not bothering him, just letting him lay there.

Lolly said...

That road they are showing with water on both sides....that is where we were.

it is like looking for a needle in a haystack, Deb

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It is a gray morning here and 68°. Good weather for working in yard and garden.
The DNR may help with the little fawn. It's Mama may have been hit by a car.

deb said...

It sure is, Helen. Lolly, I wondered if that is the road you were on.

Mits said...

"it is what it is", Megan

normabyrd said...

MEGAN--Running late---But the DNR people have told us--we shouldn't bother the fawn---because MOM DEER probably knows where the fawn is--she usually leaves them in a safe place & 'usually' COMES BACK FOR THE FAWN!---so sad---let's pray she does today!!

OK blog

16 June: Nest cam watchers observed the eaglet fly off of the nest early this morning!
It is possible that it will make occasional reappearances at the nest in the coming days or weeks
(kind of like a hungry college student!).

Lolly said...

I would be going bonkers with a fawn sitting near by! Poor little baby.

Lolly said...

Busy day ahead. Today we are taking the boys swimming. Best thing to do with temps heading to the upper 90's. Hope to get my excercises in before we leave.

Wish they would not be looking for the ok eaglet on the water!!! If I saw he was there, I would really go bonkers!!!

Have a great day everyone. I do hope you have great weather and not the heat we have.

Watch the OK nest for me. LOL

Bye!

Costume Lady said...

Me, too, Lolly. Can't stand to see an orphan in the wild. Hope it's Mama is nearby and takes it away soon. FAR AWAY! They are VERY destructive.

floralgirl said...

Yeah, sorry, I'm not heartless, remember I've been monitoring baby mockingbirds for days now, trying to keep them safe. But, if that deer grows up, we are enemies, remember, we are farmers here. I really will have to let nature run it's course, it's the strangest thing I've ever seen here, cause there are a million places for a fawn to hide, and I'm not sure why he chose under my van. I put out some water to try and lure him out from under the van, before hubby gets home.
On another note, I just had a hawk try to grab my momma dove right off her nest. Now, we have a rule again, about not interfering with the hawks, they gotta eat too, but that was just too much for me, cause I wanna see baby doves, so I chased the hawk to the outskirts of the yard.

Mits said...

totally understand, Megan.....your means of employment trump the fawn

floralgirl said...

Thanks, I'm really not a big meanie, but that deer will grow up to be a plant eating machine....
I can hear the baby mockingbird all day long peeping for food. I've lost track of the other, those babies really get around the yard. The good news is one is up in a tree now, much safer than being on the ground. He hides from me, kid says he's onto me, cause I kept movng him from the edge of the drive last week. He quiets down when I get close, the little bugger.
Going back out to plant sunflowers.

Mits said...

I hear ya, Megan:)

Lynne2 said...

Good Morning all! Can't stay, was just checking the babies and trying to catch up on the blog ...
Megan, that fawn's wound will attract flies, he will get maggots and it will be horrible if 15 years in the veterinary business tells me anything. If it looks bad, You can call Wildlife Rescure Inc in Manchester and see if someone will come and get him for you 443-507-0950...they are a great organization and can usually help.
Or the DNR wildlife info number 1-877-463-6497 to see if there is a wildlife rehab closer to you.
I know deer are a pest to farmers and I'm sorry this one showed up at your door. They are a problem all over the place here, too. If he is fairly newborn, mothers leave and only come once a day or so to nurse as the baby has no natural scent yet and this sort of thing happens all the time. In a couple of days they will move on, assuming the mother is alive and the baby is healthy enough.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

EAGLE ALERT!

And, by the way, Megan, I don't think we can call you a "big" anything but maybe heart! :)

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning All! Before reading comments I went to the OK site - Glad

Daughter is here today so I will be in/out of the blog.

Lynne2 said...

Camping was great, again! And now I am 2 for 2 with copperhead encounters! Sure enough I encounterd another one, much bigger than the first. I'll get a blog started here soon and post some pics.
SOOOO glad Hidey is still around, even if only briefly now!

Lynne2 said...

Hi Jo! Saw your comment about the Wildwatch barn owls...I'm glad to know someone else is watching them! I knew them when they were just eggs...the size difference is amazing between the 2 broods although not quite as noticable now as it was even a week ago.

gwen of s.c. said...

Hidey is back for lunch. Ran Mama off so he could have the whole fish. He's so funny and greedy. Must have been starving. Norma hope your Dr. visit turned out good. I enjoyed Hangover but it did have a lot of vulgar talk, and even male frontal nudity. Something I've never seen in a movie before. Had to do a lot of praying in church. But I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Gwen

Mits said...

LYNNE2, at lot of us watch all the WW cams, including the barn owls...:)

I guess I just never saw anything about them when I was on the blog! They are the most "ugadorable" little things! I think Deb ? not sure...told me that last year the outcome wasn't so good and she hasn't had the heart to watch this year.

Hidey! I've not seen the girl for several days, it's nice to see her. I'm depending a lot on the this blog and all the attentive eagle moms & dads to let me know that Hidey has been around. so a big thank you to all of you!

Mits said...

OSPREY BACK AT BWE

Mits said...

yes the barn owl watching can be a little brutal, but that is nature raw and uncut.

floralgirl said...

Just so ya know, the little guy has wandered off on his own, while I was down in one of the gardens. And, if he's injured, and eventually dies, then the turkey vultures will take care of that, all part of the cycle of life. Sorry, not being callous, just realistic. Often observing nature is not pretty, it's real life.
And my kid saw the Hangover last weekend when she was staying at a friend's house, not a movie I would have taken her to, but oh well, they know all the language anyway, and apparently it's a funny movie, and nudity, well, I prefer she not see male frontal nudity, but better on the screen and not in real life, so it's ok.... not gonna stress over it.

Mits said...

Yes, Megan, I never stress about nature, too many things in REAL LIFE to stress about...yes, we don't want real life male nudity for a long time......:)

Gabriela said...

Look at those white feathers on the tops of Hidey's wings!

Mema Jo said...

The adult has returned with a very large fish to the OK nest... Guess
it is the sign for the eaglet to come back home.

Good morning all. Brunch is in the oven, and looks like it's going to be lunch! "Don''t expect us until noon!" sis said. Argh!! Dinner is in the crock pot. My youngest is at the dentist and will be here afterward. Eldest is on her way. She couldn't get the girls out of bed to come see their Nana....SIL will bring them this afternoon sometime.
Will check back in with you all as time allows. Cloudy here...but no rain---at least not yet. Enjoyed Sissy's and Megan's pics---Poor fawn...I understand what Megan means, but still feel for the baby and hope mom comes to retrieve her. I should post my snake pics from last week! When I have time I will! TTFN.

Mema Jo said...

Glad to see our adult being able to chow down

My cam really did freeze - I hit refresh and everything started moving again!

floralgirl said...

And I posted another couple of picssss to my whatver blog, but it'ssssss not cute....this creature was encouraged to move along after stopping to smell the daisiesssssss.....

Mits said...

geez looweez, that is a big guy, Megan!

floralgirl said...

Yep, a black ssssnake, we didn't hurt him, just asked him to vacate the area, he was right outside house door.

Lynne2 said...

Oh yeah, that's a black rat snake, same kind that filled it's belly full of my baby bluebirds.

Lynne2 said...

Everything is beautiful, in it's own way....as the song goes!

Mits said...

I guess so Lynne:)

Lynne2 said...

I also get baby ring neck snakes every August that hatch out and end up in my apartment...we live in the lower level of a single family home, and I've been here for 11 years and without fail, they show up every August! I guess that the adult is getting into the foundation somewhere to lay the eggs.

now that would make me very unhappy, Lynne:(

Lynne2 said...

Well Mits, so far none have ended up in my bed! THAT would upset me. The first year I was here I had 18 of them! Good thing I'm not faint hearted living here in Wild Kingdom! Every year since there have been fewer...I just catch them and take them out to the woods. Sometimes they get upset and then they make stinky on my hands.
The black rat snake that got my bluebirds I am pretty sure was the same one we had to pull out from under my upstairs neighbors porch steps so that she wouldn't have a heart attack... he was about 3 feet long and boy did he ever make stinky on me! Smelled like skunk!

In our schedule book here at Patuxent River Park, there is a group from Bear Branch Nature Ctr. coming for osprey banding on 6-30 at 11AM. Don't know if program is full or not. I'll be working that day here. ☺

paula eagleholic said...

Afternoon, all.

She was just working down the food from her crop.

paula eagleholic said...

Yup, that's the trip with Greg.

Mema Jo said...

No eaglet has returned to the OK nest yet.. camera is still panning around the area.

Their blog says that: One observer reported that the eaglet returned to
the nest after about 30 minutes, but then left again. It is unlikely that we will have good archived footage of this flight, but we will review it in case we do.

Mema Jo said...

I love watching our adult eagle in the nest - I enjoy our Hidey also but the adults are something special to see

You have to wonder what are they thinking...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Jo, I was just sitting here watching Belle and thinking the same thing. What beauty and grace!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am not liking this new camera thing because I have a hard time restarting it every time. Grateful I have any at all but still, got used to the other one.

NatureNut said...

I checked our nest earlier & was MT. Now I see Belle is still there! Hooray!
Our new osprey cam is finally working in the Vis. Ctr. This nest has 2 large chicks. One was really flapping. Took some pics. Got some last week at other "farmhouse" office of black rat snake on our railing and beautiful fawn w/Mom, similar to Megan's pics. Will try to put on this evening.

Jim, Hidey's dramatic butt was in the nest just a little while ago eating!

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
Boy, was that a treat, getting to see Belle on the nest for so long!
She is SOOOOOO gorgeous! Guess I showed up at just the right time. That was kind of wierd, though-- it was like something startled her, and she left. Then there was that interference with the camera. Wonder what happened.

I'm just getting back here-- had school last night, after spending the day at Lake Arrowhead. Got a couple of good bird pictures, and will have to download them so you can see them. It was cool, windy, and gorgeous there yesterday. Love that place!

Ms Bookworm said...

I've had computer problems this morning; barely got the thing to start. Had to repair itself by going back to a previous configuration where everything worked correctly. Keep having to refresh the cam picture, too...OOH, sounds like Hidey just landed on the camera! Hasn't dropped in yet, though. Can't tell if there are any nestovers to be had.

Mema Jo said...

Daughter has left to go home - I am taking a panda nap for an hour.....
I was awake off and on throughout the night & that sure makes for being tired the next day!

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, I have so much to accomplish this morning, I'd better pry myself away for a while and get the old errands done. Have to go make a house payment, go to bank, go to pharmacy, then come home and study for a test tonight. Oh-- teacher last night said he needs to check, but thinks I've passed the requirements, and can skip another Keyboard class-- to Keyboarding III!

Mema Jo said...

p.s. I can't get our cam up/running. I was on the 15 min time out and I couldn't refresh - I couldn't even sign back in to it - Just the Green Barber Pole.

I want to know how much bandwidth and/or money is being saved by us having all this hassle!

paula eagleholic said...

What is the dark object in our nest at 6ish? Leftovers?

Mine is up and running, Jo.

You might try my method, Mema Jo.
