SHIRLEY---I have battled SQUIRRELS for 25 yrs!!---It is a losing battle---have never seen a (SQUIRREL PROOF FEEDER)--they couldn't get in!---Even tried the red pepper thing---(lasted 1 day)--
but as my youngest reminded me a few years back--"god made the squirrels too--mom"---ho!

My husband says the same about the squirrels.. drives me crazy, he says that they need to eat too. I buy special food for them, but they had rather have the birds food...
Good morning, the sun is shining, but not for long. We have a heat advisory for today, you need to be careful if you are outside for long.
You do have to admire the squirrels. They need to eat too; the thing that really got to me was when this little guy started throwing the seeds on the ground--I guess so he could get to the ones he liked. Ungracious guest! I chased him off for the moment.
May just have to move the food to another spot. It is definitely not a birdproof feeder. It's one of those big fancy blocks from the grocery store.

Squirrels--I know they can be pesky but when you see their little ones. It all falls into place. They used to have 2 litters a summer over our shed. Loved watching and feeding them. A tree with a very small branch won't keep them away from feeder. We had a mulberry tree and watching them go to the very end of the branches. Was so funny cause you would see the branch bending slowiy to the ground....they got their berries though.

Once we put a metal sheet around a tree and greased it, but then I felt sorry for the squirrels because they fell off the tree.
I don't have any large trees near my house anymore. Lost one to Hurricane Isabel and one to another storm a few years later. They were good locations for bird feeders.
Hidey just appeared.
I think Hidey just brought in a fish! :)

Norma, Thanks to Tammy I got your message of yesterday. I am doing much better now. Doctors have put me on two new meds and I am breathing much better.

We put Mei and Tian together in the yards this morning. All went as expected with lots of playing/eating/resting. For now, we will be putting them together in the early mornings and separating them by the late morning feeding. They may not be put together every day…it depends on staffing/tours/ curator on duty/workmen etc

Miarah hang a RED RIBBON on the east side of house and just let it blow with the wind. Up about as tall as you can reach. Don't need stepladder.
