SALISBURY — The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Va., is warning of low visibility on the Eastern Shore later this afternoon due to smoke from the Great Dismal Swamp fire being pushed toward the coast.

“Visibility restrictions due to the smoky haze of 1 to 5 miles can be expected across the southeastern mid-Atlantic into the afternoon,” the weather service said.

It said smoke from the Great Dismal Swamp wildfire as well as fires in eastern North Carolina will be pushed toward the Eastern Shore by midday as light southerly winds gradually become southwesterly by late morning.

People with respiratory ailments are advised to remain indoors today and motorists are urged to exercise caution in areas with smoky conditions.

HEY CANDY, PUT OUT THOSE FIRES DOWN THERE:)

deb said...

Good morning, Wanda, Helen, Norma and Sharon. It is cloudy here this morning, hope the sun comes out soon. Thanks for the video, Paula, it was fun watching it over again.

deb said...

That was a beautiful take off at 11 o'clock!

Costume Lady said...

CANDY, after you get the fires put out, check out your AFTER FACIAL PHOTO.

deb said...

Wanda, great job on the facial photos!

MITS said...

Man, Candy is going to be one hot Mother of the Groom

Lolly said...

Good morning all! Sound like all are up and feeling their oats this morning!

Paula, loved the video!!!! Attack of the giant spider! And, it was great to see Tiny enjoy his meal.

Mits, do not think Candy can put out fires. According to the picture of her after her latest facial....her specialty is starting fires of a different nature. LOL

Mits...so envious of your stay at the ocean. We are heading to south Padre Island early August. Taking Laurel and the boys down. Michael and family may join us as well. Wahoo!! Love nothing better that the sound of the waves!

Hey, Wanda....you are a good grandmother!!Joseph and Jacob both get on my computer.

Accidentally earned my 4th facial last night, didn't even realize it. And, I haven't even done the third yet.

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning everyone..
Happy to see all of you and will need to go to earlier comments to see what all is going on!
Wanda - super job on the facial pics
Paula - great video

Just finished talking (& seeing) everyone over in Germany. Love the
technology of this age!

MITS said...

wait til Candy's husband sees the new Candy, Lolly.

deb said...

Jo, it is great that you can visit with them and see them at the same time. It makes living on the other side of the globe a little easier.

Lolly said...

Yeah, when Candy's jubby sees her...yet another Florida fire will be started!

Flamingo cam operator has zoomed in on a baby. So cute! And, so very wobbly!

Lolly said...

Morning Jo! Fantastic that you got to talk to Germany. Great way to start the day. So, how is the newest member of the family? Probably sleeping all the time right now.

Lolly said...

It is a wonder any flamingos survive past infancy as often as the mothers step on them!

Beautiful little chick
Close up WOW
Chicks have large webbed feet!
I wonder when their neck starts
stretching out?
I remember the herons had their necks

Mema Jo said...

This has been a pretty long time that the chick has been in close up view. Very interesting to watch - I'll be glad to see some more chicks up & about like this one. Cutest thing is when the chick stands up and stretches out its chubby looking legs

OK Lunch time here

deb said...

Me, too, Red. I am half way done in the backyard and I am dripping. Darn humidity is bad today.

Red said...

I'll be dripping tomorrow. Gotta weedeat around 65 trees and mow 4 acres of yard.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

did anyone else see the toucan (i think) on the Puro hummingbird feeder?

Red said...

Sorry Sissy, I wasn't watching.

magpie said...

Oh, Woody Fans, there is another duck on eggs on the CamClickers site, Greenville, Texas. No information posted yet about it that I could find except there is a new round of incubating going on..

I can't open up CHRISSYS HUMMERS today, anyone else having problems? Did fine yesterday, now says I have to install Active X..Grrrrrrrr

Ct Ospreys, such a close-up cam, and so beautiful, the colors and all.

Empty Mountaineer Nest...

Did any chicks at Flamingo site get lost? I see a little whitish thing in the bottom of one of the dirt ditches...not what I am thinking I hope.

Good Afternoon, All....

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

magpie, I had to install the active X thing but it was no problem. I think what I had been watching before was a recording. This is so cool. They are some busy little critters.

magpie said...

Okay Double E Sissy, I will do that. Have to shut everything down 'cause the computer will need to restart...time for another nap for me anyway.

The Wood Duck nest is a different nest, 13 eggs were in there on May 30 - incubation takes about 30 days, so maybe by next week, we will be all ga-ga with hatching again. I just checked some of the Forum comments...

magpie said...

Double-E Sissy, that was a great tip! It went "just like that!" and the computer did not have to restart....

Now, back to snoozing for a bit.

COSTUME LADY: I am going to China City Buffet tonight, meeting a gal pal dispatcher from Loudoun County, and cashing in on an almost-one-year old gift certificate....
YUMM ...some crab I hope....

magpie said...

Everything is all PINK at Over the Water Finland...sunrise or sunset I guess.... the other Finney nest is still not working, but it looks like some progress is being made...will be interesting to see how much the chicks have grown in a week.

Nighty-afternoon-Night.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

looks like an anteater or something on the hummer feeder. How cool is this!!

Lolly said...

Hi all! Was afraid to get on....been working in the yard. Hope I don't offend you!! LOL

Deb, is the chimney swift cam always so dark? Just went to it for the first time. Quite impressive the tower they built.

Lolly, there are two different cams, this view is dark the other is a lot lighter.

deb said...

Finney's nest camera is broken and they have to install a new one. If you go to their site, though they have a photo gallery. You can see the three chicks in the first picture.

Three chicks

Lolly said...

Just back from visiting my Mom.
Margy.....No crab legs tonight!!
Only on Friday and Saturday. Other food is very good also.

magpie said...

Thanks everyone for passing on all the cool sites: My "favorites" is growing by leaps and bounds, or would it be "feathers and beaks."

Great Photo of the Finney Chicks. DEB - Thanks for keeping us posted. Hadn't seen the 3rd chick yet.

COSTUME LADY: Figured that might be the case....I have a feeling I will stuff myself regardless.

Momma Wood Duck is off the eggs at CamClickers.....

magpie said...

Double E-Sissy - I did not get sound back at the Hummer site...that is half the fun. Might have to try something else, or again.

It's about time for the afternoon arrival of eaglets, is it not?

I don't have live feed.

magpie said...

Double-E Sissy, I think the Anteater thing is a "Coati" - their is a link to a short video on it, and the Toucan, on the main open-up page for the Hummers...

magpie said...

Beautiful view of the water in the background at Scottish Wildlife Trust cam, just Solo there now. Just about evening there....think of Chrissy and Frank when you view this one, I think it is one of Chrissy's favorites!

magpie said...

Isla just glided over the water, then landed in the nest with chow...Isla is happy...nestovers and moving sticks.

magpie said...

And A Poop Shoot, maybe Momma Isla brought in a peat ball, no one is eating yet....

magpie said...

Fort St Vrain looks empty this evening, but those early morning photo pics....5 am and 7 am show both birds in the nest....

(Can anyone tell I am taking a little trip around the world?)

magpie said...

Things are looking pretty empty in Harrisburg, but lots of trains and traffic going by!

magpie said...

Barton Cove Chick looks so lonesome.

DEB - Nice thing about the slide show on the Finney nest, is that two adults are in just about every one...and a nice snow shot....

magpie said...

Falcons on the ledge, looks like adult, at the nest box. Harrisburg.

magpie said...

..and a youngster at the far end of the ledge too....Harrisburg.

Time for an Eagle OUR Nest...oh, birdies, where are you, still in SCHOOL ?

Mema Jo said...

I just made certain that the RP was
NOT UP! Still cam is all static at times!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

magpie said...

Funny, it seems when that an eaglet arrives, the Cam gets all excited just as we do.....
I'm waiting on Live Feed too...

magpie said...

Barton Cove parent brought food in, and now baby must be hanging over the side of the nest of branching, cannot see it...

magpie said...

deb said...

deb said...

I went to check on the flood waters today and found a corn field full of pelicans. I assumed that whatever was behind the pelicans was debris caught in a fence. WRONG! I was too far away to know for sure, but I think they are herons,

MITS said...

paula eagleholic said...

Awww, still 2 eaglets...one w/ cute leg and talons sticking out...

Taking the dogs for a walk...BBIALW

deb said...

deb said...

NO, they were standing by the fence, but from where I was I thought it was junk that had gotten caught in the fence. It wasn't until I brought it up on my computer that I realized they were birds and not junk.
I thought it was corn stalks.

deb said...

I wondered why you said, Oh, no. I was excited.

Anne-Marie said...
