I have been sitting in a dental office most of the afternoon (transporting another family person) and then to dinner - I can NOT believe how entertaining our blog is for my reading pleasure by all of your comments from this afternoon! I just LOVE IT! Thank you all so much.

Re: How Are You Guys? From: EagleCam Headquarters (eglldy@qwest.net) Sent: Mon 1/14/08 6:26 PM To: Jo Lennox (jo_lennox@hotmail.com)
Hi Jo... I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond to your email. Well, no news yet. And yes, those pesky squirrels have taken a toll on the nest over the past couple months along with some inclement weather . I thought the forum comment made by Tom Otto was funny, the squirrels are waiting for snacks to drop "into the kitchen" or something along those lines but in reality not so much humor in it because they've dug themselves right out of a home. Squirrels have been living in the "basement" for years but never thought they'd obliterate the nest like they have this time. Yes, a maintenance climb is planned and at this point not this weekend but the next so if by chance you see a strange view in the camera you'll know why. I would like to send him up with a sack full of sticks and debris but not sure that would be very welcomed by the "homeowners"... then again, maybe we should look into that. There have been adult birds at the nest, around the area as well as a younger one (sub adult photo's) at the edge of the nest visiting, maybe recalling its' younger days? I do think its probably one of Star and Spirit's offspring. Late last October there was a younger bird present that perched with them (on the west side of the fir you see behind the nest tree) but that evening the 3 of them left together. I haven't seen all 3 together since.
Now, about the photo's posted on the forum: Because of the positioning of the bird in the photo's from Jan 3, I can't say for certainty that its Star or Spirit. I do have to watch them a few seconds otherwise they look like any other adult bald eagle. I did see a small portion of that visit and recorded the event so I'll check again to try to figure out which adult it is.
It sounds as if "things" are going along as they should around the country and I'm glad to hear it. Thanks for the updates and keep in touch!
Sincerely, Loraine - Your eagle buddy over on this side of the country
Thanks for the update from Loraine and the Kent nest environs, Mema Jo.
At least the eagles seem to be in the area if not on the viewable nest now, AND the cam maintenance crew is planning some repairs "up the tree" so to speak.
Maybe there will be a normal season there after all.
Mai and ZZ's cam is on (one of them), but it's absolutely dark????
Pete's Pond looks fairly peaceful this morning, but all I've seen on the cam so far is Cattle Egrets along the far bank ... mostly sleeping in the sun.
Good morning, world. Chilly out, but no wind, so it's really not bad. It is 32° both at my house and here. Did get down to 27 on the way down, and had wind and flurries, but nothing down here. Had snow yesterday, saw it when I got closer to home. Trees were very pretty with their dusting of snow. We have about half power here this morning. Guard said power went down last night at 10. Some things work, some don't. Main overhead lights are out, so it's kinda dark in here. Ya never know what one day to the next will bring, always an adventure! Love the pic of Belle Steve posted. She's so pretty. Ok, gonna open some cams. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Good morning, Jim. Thanks, but I hope you can get back to bed and actually get some sleep! I could do that too, we're working in the dark here. Kinda cool. Only lights we have are in our cubes, so it kind of adds atmosphere! Good grief, what kind of atmosphere at this hour at work I have no clue, but it IS atmosphere of some sort! LOL, gotta laugh...
Oh, Tai's awake and having an early morning breakfast of bamboo. The Bonaire donkeys are getting up, but looks like it's still raining there, everything is soaked and puddles everywhere. Africam animals are laying down chilling. Only 1 owl this morning in the nestbox. There were 2 yesterday, both in there for hours! Looks like the PA cam is getting snow. Hope it's gone by the time I go home. Was snowing lightly on the way down, till about half way through MD, then it stopped. Guess it hasn't stopped yet in PA. Darn.
Good Morning suzanne; Things here are good, but just a bit cold but no snow yet.I posted more photos of the eagles here that i took this past saturday. Take care Indiana Nesting Eagles----Dave
GOOD MORNING JIM AND SUZANNE. JIM I hope you are fast asleep by now. AND SUZANNE glad that things are getting back in order at your job place this morning.
I had a few minutes so wanted to check in on our nest before heading off to school. MT. I guess it is a little early for them yet.
I say one deer in Pa with the big bump on his right front foot. Couldn't see anything from SD. No lighting there either.
LOL, yeah, lots of ambience at work! Morning, Sharon. Morning, Dave. I'll have to go check out your new photos!
Was reading an article about the baby polar bear in Nuremberg, she's opening her eyes a little. I say she, they think it may be a she, they don't know yet. She also now has her own web site, how cute is that! They have nicknamed her Flocke, which means flake, like in snow flake, cause of her white fuzzy fur. They also have 21,500 name suggestions for her. You can check out the article here:
And click to go to her website. It's in German, naturally, but you can figure it out. She's healthy, and has a good appetite. She's a cutie! Would make a nice Mrs Knut!

Now, that is Belle!
And she has arrived, just as he knew she would.
Just getting ready to go home and what do I see, but two beautiful eagles just waiting for ME
HEY SHARON, WANDA, PAULA AND MITS. You lucky ladies to be able to watch all day. It that lib on his perch and Belle checking out the egg cup?
They were just at it again. Did you all see that?
BEAUTIFUL EAGLES in our nest!!---Must be the ROYAL COUPLE checking in!!!!!!
Yeah, I got home in time to see some hanky, panky!
OMG MORE HANKY PANKY? I wonder if they do it for each egg she has. :)
Hey NORMA and DANA. I am still at school and don't want to go home now.
missed it
Goodness Sharon you certainly aren't missing much of that Hanky Panky this year. :)
It started a while ago with a food offering on the middle of the nest and then the wait for lunch with dessert.
MITS Don't feel bad, I was checking my school email and missed it too.
I snapped a picture, did you get one, too, Sharon?
Come on DEB and share!
I liked your description better than mine, GLO. I called it BAIT, you called it a FOOD OFFERING. Sounds mor romantic. LOL
I plan to post it.
The wind is blowing a bit here, that is why they looked ruffled.
I missed dessert; that happens to me often. LOL
Well, I think I am going to head home. It will only take me about 15 minutes to get there. Hold them in the nest for me will you all>
I'll never get my hair dry. I have an early morning court date and need to get the HAIR thing out of the way now.
Lib does not have a clue how "figured out" we all have him LOL
Picture is in the album.
LOL Wanda yep I am a romantic
there she goes
I finally made it home only to find that Belle has flown away from Lib. Did they have a spat, or maybe she is going to bring him some supper.
feeding Tesoro
MITS The parent at Tesoro was deep into the nest. there for awhile. Can anyone get into CC1 today? I still can't.
Boy that Liberty is sure a patient bird.
I have not tried to get in for awhile, Candy
lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely...sung by Lib
Thanks for the reply MITS. I'll just have to be as patient as Liberty is. :0
What was sthat song that Dean Martin used to sing...RETURN TO ME........
is he stuck....?
MITS I wondered that myself mits, but both timers are still going. There are turkeys in Pa.
Belle must have glued his tootsies to the nest.
I know Candy, just he has been in the same spot and I see his head feathers blowing in the breeze, so I know cam is working
could be Deb...lol
DEB and MITS, Liberty just loves his new cushy "home'. :) I find it hard to believe that he is still there also.
I see where someone took pics of an eagle in the West End nest. Wouldn't that be nice if he should take up residence. I hope it isn't too late.
Mmmmm....dessert!!
He finally moved a little bit, so we know he isn't stuck!!
Glad ya'll are here to take pics!
oopppss, are we supposed to be taking pics?:):):)I'm just watching him.
Sorry, I haven't been either. I am working on other things and check in every once in awhile.
LOL - I meant of the Hanky panky!!
Watch out Lib is on the move.
Was he standing on the remainder of the meal, perhaps? Looks like he is eating now...
Hmmm, guess Lib gets 2 desserts! :)
Candy what are you talking about at the West End nest????
there was nothing there, do you think, she dropped a tidbit off for him.
If there was anything it was behind him, not right under him.
are ya'll sure that was Lib in the nest...looks like Belle now.
Well he does look not quite as wide as our lovely Belle...
He is back down in the bowl now
Let's hope he doesn't get stuck again!
Belle is back!
He is moving a big mound of fluff!
Wow, is she finishing up the lunch now...
poof lib
Poof for Lib
He was sure there for a looooong time.
poof Belle
Poof for Belle
Poof for Belle.
Well, I guess that will be it for tonight.
