Thanks, Dana! Went downstairs and just took my coat off! It's freezing here. Thanks for the new thread, Steven! And thanks for the heads up Norma and Wanda. Good morning, Norma!
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!----It's a CRISP--SUNNY--COLD a.m. today in WV temp. 32° now----HELLO WANDA--DANA--ROBYN & SUZANNE!!---WANDA--I'm glad KARLA is going to Dr.---That darn chest stuff is nasty!!!---W/keep her in my thoughts!!---ROBYN--certainly envy your traveling---IT'S GREAT!!--- & DANA--Missed you yesterday a.m.!!------SORRY I missed CANDY!!---I will be in & out this a.m.--Study Group----KEEP WARM SUZANNE!!----LIFE IS GOOD!!!-----SOOO ENJOY THE DAY!!!!
Wanda, sorry to hear Karla is still so sick. Sure hope she DOES go to the doctor! Her's is hanging on a lot longer than mine did, and I think I had mine for a couple weeks. Tried to come back, but I didn't let it this time. Give her our love, and sending prayers!
THE "LITTLE PRINCE" is all snuggled up --sleeping beside his grill---SUZANNE----It's TAI that has the "WHITE BUTT"!!---That how I tell him from the others!!---HE IS SUCH A HANDSOME BOY!!!!
Oh, sorry Norma! Tai is by himself, thought you said Tian had a white butt, that's how you could tell him and Mei apart, because those 2 are together. I get confused easliy!!! In any case, he's cute snoozing! He just fits there, looks like.
Precious was alone, but here comes Bai with a load of bamboo! Well for heaven's sake, she walked in, and walked by Squiggles and walked out. Now she's coming back, backwards, with more bamboo. Ok, pick up the kid, guess it's time to nurse.
Suz...Gene and I just watched the rookie in the airplane. That is just how I felt on my first plane trip. By the time I had flown 3 times I was ok . I quess I needed the gum. Nobody told me to chew gum. It might have helped.
Uh oh, play time is over, mom walked out. Wonder if our little Precious is gonna follow, or is she gonna be content to play with that bamboo stick? Never mind, her ecomes mom. No, there goes mom again, and she's following!!! There she goes...
Uh oh, she got rolled over by Bai and about a ton and a half of bamboo. She's under there somewhere. But she made it as far as the door. Oh, there she is, Bai just found her.
OMG, Bai was tossing her bamboo, and she also got Precious in there! Saw a REAL closeup of Squiggles! Bai knew that, Squigs must have yelled, cause the bamboo tossing stopped and mom picked up baby and is snuggling her. Poor thing, being tossed around like that! Too funny.
Where or where is our Precious Squiggles...she just got lost in bamboo...now were looking to find her....Oh where oh where can our Precious Squiggles be...Something small has just appeared...it looks like a panda cub to me...Mommie Bia has her now...in her paws and snuggling her...
Is it just me or does there look to be an eagle in the Kent nest. Cam 2 I know it is still dark. There is a white spot then another like a head and tail...probably seeing things????
Dana, I see the house lights on both cam 1 and 2. Before dawn, on cam 1, you can sometimes see a silhouette of an eagle there, but ya have to look hard. If you see lights going on and off, that's headlights!
Gum does help Wanda - but as far as helping on a ride with a Blue Angel - I don't think gum would do the trick for me! That was AWESOME, Suzanne. Checking out some cams & THANK YOU STEVE for the new thread so early this morning! With your time off, I bet they filled up your desk with work! I am hoping that you & the family had a great holiday.
Here we go throwing the bamboo again. Hope she doesn't have Precious...never mind, just saw Precious trying very hard to walk away from mom! Oh, there goes Bai, and all the bamboo, and she pushed Squiggles out the door with the bamboo. Now she's gonna go get her. Yup, brought Squiggles back in her mouth! Too funny, this poor kid is never gonna touch the stuff! Mom throws her, sweeps her out the door, man, don't want any part of that, Precious is gonna tell her. But now Bai is holding her and loving on her.
Morning, Jo. I've been watching Bai toss Precious in the air with the bamboo, then sweep her out of the den with the bamboo. She's hilarious. But then mom gets her and loves on her a while.
WHOA!!----Is it "CUB CRUELTY" if a MOTHER drags a tree into the den & completely cover her PRECIOUS BABY-----then PRECIOUS crawls out & WHAM!--BAM!--another load of greenery completely covers poor lil' PRECIOUS again????
Morning Paula, and thanks for the heads up about the moose. Had it on this morning, and it was 3something from yesterday. Norma, did you see Bai do that to Precious? That was hilarious! Poor cub is gonna be afraid of that mean ol' bamboo that keeps attacking her! Norma, have a good study group!
Oh, PA cam is down also. Moose drinking water while laying down. Man, that's lazy! Or convenient.
Paula, do you belong to National Wildlife Federation? They send out their monthly National Wildlife magazine, and in this months there is a moose jumping over a fence. The guy said he followed this bull and his harem for 3 weeks, then caught that pic. Just awesome!
Snowing in moose country again, you can see the white if ya look at the moose. They sure have a lot more than they had yesterday, too.
Good Morning all. Hi Robyn, I have missed you. All is well here. Its still dark so I don't know what its like outside. Radio says wind. Oh goodie...Diana is interviewing for a new sup position today and is really nervous. She called me twice last night. Well I will be reading with you today as usual. If you need me you can reach me by email. All of you have a day with smiles. Hugs.
Ok, Paula, it was just such a cool pic. You don't think of animals this size just jumping over fences! But she did it. Morning Anne! Wish you could blog from work!!
Suzanne - was the dog you saw with the moose a black cocker spaniel? The moose on there now is known as a Lazy Eater - Apples & grains are in the black tubs. I see the hay isn't yet in the feeder - I guess Pook has to be careful filling it with the moose setting there!
Oh, Mom just came to check on her and walked away again. Precious Squiggles rolled over on her back, then back on her tummy. Mom was back again, wonder if she's trying to tell her to get back in there. She's walking around!!!!!!
Eland on Africam or Pete's Pond? Africam is showing the water, but not animals. Mom is walking all around precious, and knocking her down. PRECIOUS IS WALKING!!!!!! watch this, you guys!!! She walks somewhere, and mom walks by her and knocks her down. She gets up and walks towards mom again. Fiesty little thing!
Yup, Jo, looked like a cocker, but it was black. This guy hasn't moved, other than to put his snout in the bowl occassionally. And yeah, I'd be a little nervous about getting that close to put straw in there too! Are you watching Squiggles? She's standing on her hind legs, trying to climb.
Oh Wanda, I'm glad someone else is seeing this! Bai just came in to check on her again, but at least she didn't knock her down. There goes Precious, walking after mom!!!
GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING EVERYONE Got thru reading the blog and e-mails, going over to look at some cams before getting ready for zoo today. Have a good one:).
She's going into the corner, wish she would follow the light and go out the door. Oh, boom, down on bottom. Oopsies. They lightened it, ya can see better.
BTW if you haven't heard about Tamiflu please be careful giving it to children, it is a very strong medication and prone to cause hallucinations in children with bad side effects. Tori's doctor here in WV tried to put her on it but I refused one for the cost after insurance and second because I knew nothing about it and he put her on something else. FYI
Morning, Mits! Precious is walking around the outside of her den. She is absolutely precious! Have a good time at the zoo today. Stay warm!! Give our love to the little tooter bug, who is now standing on a log eating.
Good Morning all. Computer problems all around today :(. Thought I might be down for the count. Unplugged and replugged the whole mess of stuff then rebooted. Here I am good to go. Phew I almost had to spend this day doing housework and other not nearly as fun stuff. Haven't read the other BLOG so not at all sure what I have missed. Wishing all of you a great day.
Thanks, Robyn. When I asked, they were just showing the water. Now they've got Impalas or something on. Wish they would zoom in. wonder if that's the animal I saw this morning! I'll go look it up on google. B U T....BBIAM
Robyn, the Eland is the animal I saw this morning on Africam that I didn't know what it was. But the ones I saw this morning didn't have horns, but Wikipedia (?) pics look like the same animal. So thanks, learned something today.
Precious is conked out in the corner. All that new walking on those new hind legs wore her out! Sure lives up to her name!
Hi Glo probably a cold morning up your way. Also eagles coming in for their winter stop over. Glad everything worked out well with your computer. No one like computer problems. ( :
Oh, before I forget again, Megan, is there and are you going to be there at a market in Shepherdstown on 11 Dec? I know Megan isn't here now, but I've been meaning to ask her this for a week!
If someone sees Megan later, if she comes in to thaw out, ask her to let me know if she's gonna be in Shepherdstown on 11 DEC.
THANKS!!!
Glo, good morning. You snuck right past me, didn't even see you. Glad you got your computer fixed!
Morning, Jim! We watched our Precious Squiggles walk after mom this morning. It was too funny. She also tried to climb, but that wasn't as successful as the walking was. She is now in a corner taking a major panda nap. Working those new hind legs really wore her out.
Hi Dana Yes it is cold here and going down br-r-r--r- and wind is gonna pick up, double b-r-r-r-r! I have been to the Marina a couple of times already and yes the eagles are slowly coming in. I am posting those pictures on the forum under outdoor critters...Quad Cities eagles 2007/2008 The Eagle Forum
The pooches and I are just about on our way over there now to see who might be perched in a hopefully near by tree.
Wow, Glo, looks like that new camera and you are a perfect match! What wonderful pictures!! Most of the time I couldn't get anything from your site, but just checked it, and you have some awesome pics there! Great site, added it to my favorites!
Hummingbird news: I found out last night from the cam owner that the eggs hatched on 11/10, so adding 10 + 3 weeks, they should be fledging about Saturday.
I just tried to take a "save picture" on that site, but it doesn't work anymore...all hieroglyphics. Apparently it is not in jpeg format anymore.
Maybe some of you have software that will deal with it??
Hi, eagle lovers. Just now had time to read yesterday's and today's blogs. Yes, DANA, I did get some deer meat. A friend's husband gave me 2 hams. He's gonna try to get me some more. Yum, yum! NORMA and JILL - we just had a shock here at the office. We realized this morning that we can see the wind turbines at Mt Storm from our office! We figured on a map that that is about 50 miles, as the crow flies, from here. Even more surprising than the fact that we can see them is how big they look from this far away! It's kinda hazy in that direction today, so we had to strain to see them, but on a clear day, we will have no trouble at all seeing them. It is so sad that our beautiful hills are being ruined for the meager amount of electricity that will be produced by those monstrocities.
I hope there is someone else out there taking photos now. I am going to visit my Mom. I have taken photos of this visit up to now. Please, someone, takeover.
Carol, remind me again where you office is? I know Pendleton County just can't remember where. My neighbor saw the wind turbines up close they are huge he said. Must be if you can see them so far away. Wonder if you can see them in Pburg. I know you can see the steam from Vepco during the winter.
JILL - Our office is on top of North Mountain. It is where Rt 33 crosses the same ridge that Seneca Rocks is part of, but Rt 33 crosses over the ridge about 10 miles south of Seneca Rocks. Franklin is about 9 miles east of our office via Rt 33. I haven't been to the Mt Storm turbines, but I have been to the ones near Thomas and they are GIGANTIC. A friend told me that she could see 22 of the Mt Storm turbines from the observation tower on Spruce Knob last weekend. Someone else told me that you can see some of them from Kaiser.
I bet you can see them from Petersburg then. If you can see the smoke stacks of Vepco. But there is the mountain in between Pburg and Mt Storm. HUMMMMMMM
JILL - We can see the Vepco steam from up here too. The turbines are not real close to the steam (from our view up here). They look like they are a little Northeast of the steam. Next time I go to Petersburg, I'll look for them - but I don't plan to go there any time soon.
MITS I am soooo glad that I decided to get on the site when I got home. Just took a chance and there was the EAGLE! Just like this afternoon at school when I was showing a child the site and up came an eagle.
Like you Candy, I am so glad I put the cam up - Would not have wanted to miss this - The picture Steve put up is worth a million - We need to print & post on all the tree trunks at KENT for you know who to see...lol
Mits & Paula - Thank goodness you two seem to always get in here at dinner time. I love the night light! It is gonna be great viewing - all night long!
Moosewatch--- Pook is a Gal! I told her to GO GIRL! Great job!
GOOD EVENING, BIRDERS~~~ The Santa Cruz camera is up and much brighter and clearer than the old one; and both male and female eagles spent a considerable time there today according to the comments and pictures.
I don't see Steffi's weekly update report yet though.
Pete's is doing reruns instead of infra-red coverage of the dark hours. Should be dawn within the hour, and we'll see if it's down today or not.
I can't quite make out which Panda is on-camera or what it is doing right now.
I hope you are all in good form this evening.........
We helped my Mom clean out her flower beds and garden this afternoon. And Gene dug up a new flower bed for her and we planted a Gazillion tulip bulbs. I think my body needs some rest now. GOOD NIGHT TO EVERYONE SLEEP TIGHT
That yard work will do it, Wanda. Already planted my bulbs this fall, just waiting for a nice day to clean out the dead stuff from my flower beds - goofed off last Sunday and didn't get it done!
Wow, good morning, world. This is a first, didn't have to sign in to my (CENSORED) google account to post! Wonder how that happened! No idea, but I'm glad for once. A very cold morning, 38° with LOTS of wind in PA, and 39° here with not so much wind yet. No stars, but half a moon through the clouds. Makes the moon fuzzy looking.
Love the pic of Belle (or Lib) with the squirrel dinner!!! Now we need to send her out west to let Star and Spirit know what the mighty eagle is supposed to do with little rodent squirrels!!! Maybe they'll get their nest back, then. No cams open yet, and will have to go back and see what I missed. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

One owl is leaving the nest box, other watching. They both have been there quite a long time this morning!
Suz...Gene and I just watched the rookie in the airplane. That is just how I felt on my first plane trip. By the time I had flown 3 times I was ok . I quess I needed the gum. Nobody told me to chew gum. It might have helped.
Don't know, Wanda, he passed out 3 times! Didn't help too much. But wasn't that awesome??? The Blue Angels. I'd love to do that one time!
Eagle in BW.
Good Morning Norma...see ya after Study Group.
Awww, Mom and Precious are playing, too cute!

It is probably a nite lite shining through the hole for the squirrels lol
Black bird in BW, showing his back, not sure what it is. Seems too small for an ewwie, and it sure isn't an eagle!
Well, the little guy fooled me! Guess it is an Ewwiieee! Finally saw his face.
Dana, I see the house lights on both cam 1 and 2. Before dawn, on cam 1, you can sometimes see a silhouette of an eagle there, but ya have to look hard. If you see lights going on and off, that's headlights!

Awww back on Prec...she's snoooozing.
Moose is up. Looks like they have a couple inches of snow by looking at his tracks. Oh, there he goes..
LOL, she walked over to check the other bowl, and now is laying down again. Ok, so that was hard work in this cold weather.
Here comes a bull!!!
Mei and Tian are playing:)
Ewwiiiiieeee back at BW. Oh, one flew in, one that was there had to move out of the way. That was cool!

I was trying to figure out when I might catch George. Going into or coming out of the hole in Kent nest.
I think it is usually 7ish am.
OMG, look at Tai! Hanging by his hind legs, bouncing off the tree.
Never mind, before this finished posting he was on the way down.
Dana, last time I saw George, he was going up the tree in the middle, Monday, 9:35 their time. Just about 11 minutes from now.
Bull in the woods on cam now, moosecam.
Eagle at Cape Coral
Precious must be cold out there, she's all rolled up in a ball. She's so precious...love her.

Thanks for your early morning comments, and have a great trip home today.

I just tried to take a "save picture" on that site, but it doesn't work anymore...all hieroglyphics. Apparently it is not in jpeg format anymore.
Maybe some of you have software that will deal with it??
Jim
Thanks Jim for the interesting facts about the hummingbirds.
Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Looks like Zhen Zhen (Squiggles) is waking up and attacking a piece of bamboo.

Eagle Alert in our nest.
Where is everyone. Now two in nest!
I hope someone comes on here QUICKLY. i CAN'T TAKE PICS. I AM AT SCHOOL.
Thanks CANDY. You are on the money today!
I've got it.
WABDA, JO, PAULA, MITS, CAROL, SHARON WHERE ARE YOU ALL. THEY ARE STILL IN NEST. WAKE UP FROM YOUR PANDA NAPS.
WANDA sO GLAD YOU GOT HERE. I see that one has left. Hope it comes back so you can get more pics.
Belle Gone.
That one looks like Liberty! Belle must have gone off to get some more sticks. Women always work harder anyhow. ;)
Gotta go. I have a child watching with me, but we need to correct her paper. Later. You are in charge
Bye Candy and friend.
Liberty has been at 1:00 oclock for so long, he may have fallen asleep.
The nest is shaping up very nicely now. Look like some finer twigs are being put in for little eaglets comfort.
I hope there is someone else out there taking photos now. I am going to visit my Mom. I have taken photos of this visit up to now. Please, someone, takeover.
I'm here now...was out at lunch.
Can't take panda naps at work...
I'm here now...was out at lunch.
Can't take panda naps at work...
I think he is asleep....zzzzzzz.....
Jim,
I just tried saving a hummingbird shot, and it was a JPEG. Maybe there was a technical problem before.
Carol, remind me again where you office is? I know Pendleton County just can't remember where. My neighbor saw the wind turbines up close they are huge he said. Must be if you can see them so far away. Wonder if you can see them in Pburg. I know you can see the steam from Vepco during the winter.
Lib still at 1 on the nest.
Lib has moved just a tad...
I was about to snap a pic and Lib disappeared!
Geeze, could they make that pic on the SD cam a little darker???
Must be panda nap time...I see Precious is :)
Just checked Frodocam for an update...no new news there...pic is stuck on the nighttime bridge pic from 11/15.
Thank you, Lisa...
I just tried capturing a hummer pic again in the "save as" mode, and it worked this time.
Thank goodness, I tried Mits's method of e-mailing it to yourself. It worked, but it was very involved using AOL as I do.
Jim
Carol-we used to see the smoke stack from the Point and from the area around the hospital.
EAGLE ALERT IN OUR NEST!
just walked in the door and see an eagle, what is that in the nest with it????????????????????
It's a fresh squirrel. We're watching on the closed circuit video.
incoming for the second eagle
TWO EAGLES IN NEST LOOKS LIKE THEY BROUGHT SOME FOOD TO EAT.
I thought I saw a squirrel tail....thanks, Steven....yummy, bring out the grill.....old George in KENT better watch out:)
A fresh squirrel? Gee, I hope it isn't one of George's relatives. ;)
MITS Shame on you for talking like that about George. He'll have to watch out soon enough when those eagles get back to making their nest again. ;)
So is that Belle that is getting to eat dinner first?
Hmmmm, Steven was it kicking when it came into the nest?????....Really does look like a fresh one.
I think Georges' days are numbered.
I hope the poor squirrel didn't work too hard storing his nuts for the winter. Now he won't be able to eat them. :(
oh dear, getting interesting now
wonder if they use the tail for part of the nest....
Think it will be cold enough there tonight if they want to leave leftovers for breakfast.
MITS Do you think there will be leftovers> I bet he used the tail for his coonskin cap.
I don't know the way it is chowing down, not taking a breath, could be gone soon
might be getting full, looking around
Awesome...squirrel sushi...
Did you see her looking right at the cam.
Steve posted a great pic on the blog.
I guess he is not full as he is going at it again.
perfect, that is the exact time I turned it on and could not believe my eyes....thanks, Steven
Suqirrel sushi, yuk. I'm glad I'm not an eagle.
Youzee Youzee! How about this!
lol Watch out George or your going to get yours!
been there over a half hour working on it...
George won't dare pop his head up out of that hole in Kent once the eagles take up residence again. It will be good by George!
I don't think there is going to be anything left of the squirrel to share.
like when they eat the turtles, lot of yanking and pulling..
Isn't it great that we have the nest lighted this year so we can see all this happening.?
this is sooooo great that the cam has the light and we can see this whole dinner going on:):):)
Candy, you must have read my mind....was sitting here just enjoying this so much
Dinner #2 - wonder what we will see for dinner #3???
MITS I am soooo glad that I decided to get on the site when I got home. Just took a chance and there was the EAGLE! Just like this afternoon at school when I was showing a child the site and up came an eagle.
PAULA What was the first dinner; fish?
me too, Candy, just took a chance and turned it on
Yes, think it was fish...now squirrel...turtle or deer next :)
I will wait. I want to see them bring a deer up into their nest. Hahahahaha. I know, they'll probably eat it on the ground.
Like you Candy, I am so glad I put the cam up - Would not have wanted to miss this - The picture Steve put up is worth a million - We need to print & post on all the tree trunks at KENT for you know who to see...lol
yeah, beware, George, this could be you.
Good idea JO Someone needs to warn George of the impending danger he is in. ;)
gone
And he didn't even offer us any. :(
I put some pics in the album...heading home....awesome experience today!
Poof!
Mits & Paula - Thank goodness you two seem to always get in here at dinner time.
I love the night light! It is gonna be great viewing - all night long!
Moosewatch--- Pook is a Gal! I told her to GO GIRL! Great job!
Have a safe trip PAULA
that was cool, ok, going to go read e-mails, and blog posts to catch up on what I missed this afternoon...BBL.
deer in West PA...
I am also going over to emails. Later.
I am also in emails........
I have no e-mails....
GOOD EVENING, BIRDERS~~~
The Santa Cruz camera is up and much brighter and clearer than the old one; and both male and female eagles spent a considerable time there today according to the comments and pictures.
Jim
Wanda, you can have some of my emails! :)
Paula, you are too kind.
I can remember when I first got this computer, I would check my e-mail about every 15 minutes. I was happy to receive anything, including junk e-mail.
We helped my Mom clean out her flower beds and garden this afternoon. And Gene dug up a new flower bed for her and we planted a Gazillion tulip bulbs. I think my body needs some rest now.
GOOD NIGHT TO EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
That yard work will do it, Wanda. Already planted my bulbs this fall, just waiting for a nice day to clean out the dead stuff from my flower beds - goofed off last Sunday and didn't get it done!
Good night, all.
Morning Suz!
Good Night All
Peace to You & Yours
Prayers for all our needs
Morning Suz and all Early Birds!
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYONE...
GOOD MORNING TO A NEW DAY AND THE EARLY BIRDERS.
GOD BLESS YOU.
JIM
