eagles back. Mits, getting rain and lots of wind for the past 3 days. Tomorrow should be great, just waiting for cooler weather to get here sure is late this year.
Oh i missed second visit was adding the pictures on momsters.. Paula you can name them if you want.. and move the Kissin one it was so cute i had to add it but was taken the other day...
missed them again, Paula, was busy writing my county president about an issue I'm having a problem with, think she might be related to the mayor of Shepherdstown
Well i am off to play a game my daughter buys me these games on Big Fish games check them out... www.bigfishgames.com they are games that you find things hidden in different rooms... Not easy it can be right there in front of you and you dont see it... The One i am working on now is called Hidden Relics...
Yes, Paula we are. Have been for the past three days. Some good gusts up to 50 but mostly around 20 or so. At least we didn'have to put up shutters this year.
Tropical Storms can give such beautiful skies, Bobbi, my friend drove last week to her place in FT Lauderdale, they went thru the rain we were having last week and got down there to the TS. On our local DC station they were showing the beach erosion at Dania Beach. Have gotten a couple of alerts for my neck of the woods down OC, Maryland about coastal flooding and winds, even though it is just passing by.
I love the storms at the ocean. Although I don't like the damage that comes with them. Whether it is a Tropical Storm or Hurricane, I don't wait around to see them, OC is a barrier island and only 1 or 2 routes out of town, when they say go, I'm gone.
Have you ever flew in aplane out over the ocean and seen it lightening in the clouds? Just beautiful colors of pinks.. blues ..yellows... and reds..almost lavenders... I saw it flying back to Florida outover Atlantic... I like storms also something soothing about them to an extent of relaxation...
agree, feel the same way. Laugh at my sister she closes all shades and doors when it storms. We get an awful lot of rainbows here after a rain. Don't blame you for leaving the barrier island. No place to be in hurricane. We have hutchinson island here and for sure wouldn't want to be there. Ocean one side and indian river other with maybe some places twenty feet separating the two and only two bridges to get off.
BOBBI--Hutchison Island is the beach we visit when we go to Ft. Pierce. Use to be many shells to choose from when walking the beach. The beach was really torn up the last time we were there.
Thanks mits, sure have missed the site. Hutchinson island was hit pretty hard three years ago. Pretty island but it is a barrier island so they always try to get everyone to leave
Wanda, thanks for the email. As I said to mits before have to get my names straight somehow. For sure going to make list and tape it to my wall by the computer
BOBBI--We don't pull a vehicle on our RV. We don't go where we can't get the Motor Home to go. We do have friends that live in Vegas and they take us to the attractions that we can't get the RV into.
I was on that barrier island during a hurricane one time. Granted the storm didn't make landfall, was several miles out to sea but whoa baby it was bad. My great aunt stayed no matter what. Talked me into staying one time. Whoever said you bet better sense as you get older never met my aunt. Loved the to pieces but she was a bit crazy when it came to the beach.
<~~ coming back to sanity after not being able to find 1 pair of sissors on that darn game.. You betcha Wanda cant wait to see her in it... they are getting married at 6 pm tomarrow night in Winchester at a little chapel.. the small reception... So i will have Jasmin most of the weekend... Might drop by to see ya Wanda so tell pappy Gene to get the rockin chair out...lol
Hi JIM...How's the fires doing out there? Haven't had time to sit long enough to listen to much news. ALSO...what is the price of gas there now? It is varied here; 2.99 average price.
Hi, Wanda, I think the fires are coming under control, although several are not out yet. Earlier in the week, the Weather site was predicting more high winds (no bueno), but now they've removed that. The temps are supposed to rise by the weekend though.
Gas prices are always high (if not the highest) here. I'll take a peek at my gas price site....
So glad to hear that the fires are getting under control. Not so glad to hear about the prices of gas. We are planning a trip out west in March. We drive an RV and only get 7 miles per gallon. From the price of a barrell of oil now, I have heard it may go up to $5.00 a gallon. YIKES!!
Good morning, world. We made it to Friday, and though the thought of sleeping in this morning was wonderful, I feel lots better, so came in. You never know, may need sick leave some day. Chilly out this morning, but beautiful stars and bright moon! 39° when I left at 1:55 this morning, 47° here at 3:56. But guess our heat waves are over for the year. Darn. Dolly-Hope was strolling on the ledge, but now she's down on the stones. Can't believe how she's grown! Oh, she's now down at this end of the cam! Wing flaps! What's she doing, it's night over there!!! Oh, that reminds me, getting in my car this morning I heard a flock of geese flying over my house! Nothing unusual about that, get quite a few of them, and love to watch them. But it was totally DARK OUT! Absolutely could not see a one of them, but sure heard them going over. I didn't know geese flew in the dark. In fact, I thought only owls could see in the dark to fly. Guess I was wrong. Dolly is making me nervous, she keeps looking over the ledge and doing wing flaps. She's not due to fledge for a little while yet, right? Oh good grief, stress at this hour! All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Dollly-Hope was back on ledge and walking, she's now off cam, walking up towards the cam but can't see her. I hope she's just walking on the ledge! Found Squiggles, she's sound asleep all alone. Have to look for her in the shadows. Oh, they'res Dolly-Hope I think on stones up almost out of view.
Well, darn. F&F went B&W and out of focus. Seems Dolly-Hope is still standing up on the stones where she was, but very out of focus. Well, it was nice to see her for a few minutes this morning! Bai just came in the den and picked up Squiggles...time for her midnight snack!
Good morning, Jim. Feeling much better, thanks! You don't appreciate how good you feel till you no longer do! Least I don't, I guess. Then it's always so nice to feel good again. Still gonna take cold pills for a day or so, but feeling tons better. And are you up for a break, or up cause you can't sleep?
Not really "hurt" it, Suz. But too much sitting here in not exactly the right position is making it kinked and sore more often...now that I'm not working all the time.
I just need to get more exercise ... good for me in many ways.
Oh ok. Glad you didn't hurt it! I know what you mean, I get a pain in my neck that goes down into my left shoulder if I sit at the computer too long. Have to get up and move around. And remind myself to blink, or my eyes get dry too. Geesh, it's heck getting old, isn't it?
I don't do it either, Jim, until my shoulder starts to hurt. I do blink, though! My eyes burn like fire if I don't blink. I also have to remind myself to blink while I'm watching TV...when I'm actually awake to watch it and not sleeping, that is. And we have ergonomic chairs here at work that absolutely KILL my back! So I found an old really comfy chair that I have in my cube. But that helps the back too.
DID SOMEONE SAY COFFEE! WHERE IS WANDA? SHE IS THE COFFEE GIRL!
GOOD MORNING SUZANNE AND JIM. I have today off, but have been laying there since four am wanting to see Dolly/Hope and Pete's Pond. So finally gave up and got up for a look see.
Did you learn that if you bend your elbows and put your hands out at 90 deg. with THE PALMS UP and then take deep breaths, you can get a lot more fresh exygenated air into your lungs??
Well, so surprised to see you in this a.m. Suzanne, glad you are feeling better, have you ever tried the "Airborne" tablets, supposed to help keep immune system strong, I use them when I have to get on a plane .
I am also glad I got up early as I am getting some good pointers on how to relieve the back ache from being on the computer too ling. :) A person can learn alot by getting on here early. :)
Thanks JIM and I hope you can get some more good sleep after doing all those stretches etc. :) I do the same thing after I get home from school; lay down and fall asleep, only to be awake in the middle of the night. Here's wishing JIM pleasant dreams and don't let those bed bugs bite. :)
Good grief, I've obviously not been paying attention! Trying to get caught up on Yahoo mail, seems to be a WHOLE lot of it! Jim, like your standn up exercise, specially following it with a good cup of coffee! I'll go alone with that!
Morning, Candy! You have off from school today, lucky you! Hopefully the kids will stop by and say hello to you!
Morning, Mits! You're the second person to tell me about those Airborne tablets! Never heard of them till a couple days ago.
Jim, haven't tried some of those exercises, but I will. Thanks for the tips!
Ok Jim, hope you can get back to sleep...a restful sleep. Hopefully, talk to you before I leave.
Candy, I don't know where Dolly-Hope is. Cam is so out of focus, you can't tell. She may be up this way close to the cam snoozing.
Mits, it's still a bit early for our kids. They've been getting later and later. Think when the cam was turned on they were arriving around 6:30. Then it went to about 6:45, and now it's after 7. Yesterday it was about 20 after when they showed up. So they may be hitting that snooze button for another hour or so.
Suzanne you can get the tablets at your grocery store or drug store, they where invented by a teacher several years ago, and you could only get them online, bet she is not a teacher anymore and probably living in a nice warm climate, where she doesn't get colds. They are just a combination of vitamins and minerals.
Ok, Mits. But I take vitamins every day! I know I don't eat well anymore, so I take vitamins! (If I can't nuke it, I don't want it.) Last night I ate solid food for the first time all week... I had toast with Jimmy Dean sausage and gravy! Open the packet and nuke it for a few minutes, put bread in toaster...3 minutes later, dinner is served! Before that my dinners were easier...open soup can, pour in bowl, nuke, eat. Done. Anyway, is that what they're called, Airborne?
Bless his little heart, don't see a panda now on cam #1, that would be Mei's den, if she hears the keepers and wants attention, she will start banging on doors etc. I wrote to yesterday by way of e-mail that the africqam is still the same one we have always watched, just isn't on the Wave-lit site anymore and Pete's is affliated with National Geographic, and, their Polar cam is back up
Correct...AIRBORNE... used to come in one formula like and Alka-Selzter tablet, but have all differnt flavors and ways to take them now....been trying to get hubby to take them for years, because of his travels, but what can I say, he just doesn't listen sometimes...:):):)
Thanks, Mits, got the email. Mai is strolling back and forth, she'll be there again in a sec. I noticed as soon as I posted that that she strolled off. But didn't know it was her at the time. I can get the Africam first time this year, but no National Geographic sites. Don't know why, but hey, get more this year than last!
LOL, yeah, men. Sometimes if ya hit 'em upside the head with a sledge hammer, it might get their attention! BUT...that's not to say they're gonna listen, just that they're paying attention! Not always the same thing! (Psst, Jim went back to bed, didn't he???)
GOOD MORNING TO YOU MITS. Good to see you up and ready to view this morning. Today was a work day for us with no school for the kids. My teacher has been out all week because her daughter had her first grandbaby; a boy. I knew you got out for having a baby, but I didn't know one took the whole week off for being a grandmother. Anyhoo, she was all excited as this was her first. I couldn't get anything ready for her unless I know what she needs, sooooooo I am off too.:) No one in the school could believe that I actually took off. Hardly anyone is coming in today. So now I get to watch my eagles, etc, and chat with friends.
I wish I spoke another language, Wanda, because it a member of the Smithsonian, they give it a fancy name.....we are volunteers, that walk the trail and explain as much as we can about the species of animals on that particular site, which include, the giant pandas, red pandas, Japanese giant salamander, Asian small clawed otter, fishing cats, clouded leopards and sloth bears
Good morning, Wanda. Glad you're up and ready for our AM visit. WHEN, not if, they show. Mits, haven't tried Maine, will have to go find the URL. It's in my favorites, but haven't tried it. I was also thinking about the time change for our eagles, but seeing as how they can't tell time, I doubt that it will affect them much. I started to write something earlier, then thought about it, and deleted it. We'll just have to pay attention to 6ish now, not 7ish. I'm not having any problems, were you all having problems with the NCTC cam site?
LOL, Candy, so do I, but this is a family blog, and the world is watching. Read the world is LURKING! Blog had 288 hits yesterday, and there sure weren't 288 folks on here, that's for sure.
Mits, I'm not even getting that. I'm getting a network error, operation timed out. I was stupid enough that I closed the site and am trying to bring it up again. Ain't working! Darn! They should be here very shortly! See they made a nice visit last night, though.
MITS We have warnings out last night and again this morning on my husband's scanner from Dare Central. I don't think it will be too much tho. We get some really good blowy Noreasters here in the winter that we are used to. They have us for beach erosion at high tide, and winds possible up to 50 mph; most likely less. We could use the rain. What a way to spend a day off tho. ;( And not to even be able to see Liberty and Belle. Double :(:( :)
Nope, timing out. Hopefully somebody out there will be able to get in and take pics if they show. Darn, and lots of folks here to watch them too, little toots!
Well, Mits, that is a very special talent to be sharing with the public. Maybe next Spring we Momsters can jump into the Eagle Express and come visit you and the zoo. Ooohh, sounds like a party to me!
Oh, sounds like a good idea, Wanda! Have you closed your shop yet, or are you still open for parties this weekend? I'll bet you'll be glad for a break!
MITS How is the beach in front of your condo standing up to the storms. We have lost a lot of houses in Kitty Hawk over the years, and the tides and storms are working on other places now.
No talent on my part, Wanda, just enjoy talking to the people from around the world, especially the ones that are seeing these animals for the very first time. Sounds like a field trip to me, that would be good, but winter is an excellent time, before the school trips start in the spring.
Candy, so far so good, wrap on wood. We have a beautiful dune right in front, but, there are always storms in the winter that constantly batter the beach, but Mother Nature has away of bringing in the West winds to help replenish it.
Looks like Mai fell asleep eating her fruit, and they can't find Tai. Searchng all over, and that little bugger is hiding very well. OH, they found him!
MITS That is soooo good to hear. As long as you keep the dunes in front of you, you have it made in the shade. Some people didn't realize that; realized too late!

PAULA---I bet it was SD----Remember one time they attempted to exam her & she threw such a fit-----they stopped!!!-----That was on CNN!!!!
I'm surprised SD hasn't mentioned anything about a naming ceremony - cub is 89 days old today! 11 days till naming!

Has anyone commented on the latest exam report on SD's Panda cub??
They've posted a short report and a video.
Jim
LISA, just watched the video of SD bonobo, so cute, didn't realize that they are critically endanged, hence, the intervention at her birth, sometimes, not always, humans must take charge.
Yes Lisa M. that baby hangs on real tight to its mother. ( :
Norma -- I was actually referring to the little Pygmy Chimpanzee they have at the San Diego Zoo. I think you thought I was referring to the panda cub.
The little Pygmy Chimpanzee is in their video gallery -- they have a clip of her in the nursery feeding. So cute!
This is an easy way to send a package to a soldier- Treat any Soldier
that's a nice site, Megan.

Oh i missed second visit was adding the pictures on momsters.. Paula you can name them if you want.. and move the Kissin one it was so cute i had to add it but was taken the other day...
Bobbi - are you getting wind and rain from TS Noel?
Will, do, Nilla! Thanks for adding the pics!
Puala i added to 11-01 album like Jo said
Now let's see if anyone shows up at Tesoro...
Okie dokie!
Dolly is up.
missed them again, Paula, was busy writing my county president about an issue I'm having a problem with, think she might be related to the mayor of Shepherdstown
At least we didn'have to put up shutters this year.
does anyone know when hope will fledge?
Pretty pink sky at Tesoro, but MT nest.
Could be this week or next, Bobbi. Comes up rather quickly!
can't get into tesoro for some reason. Sky is pretty tonight. Tomorrow will be much calmer as the storm moves away.
Glad that rain is finally getting out of there for you, Bobbi.
Looks like Dolly might be eating...
Agree, Mits. I love storms crazy as it may seem. Find them comforting, go figure
Have to tell you though, when it starts the lightening thats when I go inside. I have never seen lightening like they have here. Scary at times
Hope is back on ledge. For sure she looks ready to go. How much longer before she will.
Does anyone have the tesoro website. Can't get on the one I have been using for some reason.
BOBBI--You got WAX!
BOBBI--Hutchison Island is the beach we visit when we go to Ft. Pierce. Use to be many shells to choose from when walking the beach. The beach was really torn up the last time we were there.
Bobbi, sent you the address via e-mail.
Thanks mits, sure have missed the site. Hutchinson island was hit pretty hard three years ago. Pretty island but it is a barrier island so they always try to get everyone to leave
Nilla, have been in planes when there is lightening but have to confess close the shade just in case lol
Hi Mits & Nilla.
Nilla, don't forget to send us photos of Jasmin in her new wedding dress!
good you don't have to drive the rv in town. Know you will have a terrific time there.
Nite ladies, time to do some wash. Have a good night and better morning.
Thought Dolly was really going to take the plunge just then, but she is back by the wall.
This evening's photos for your viewing pleasure...
Momster's Album
great pics, thanks ,Paula, Jo, and Nilla
HOW IS EVERYONE TONIGHT??
JIM
Hi JIM...How's the fires doing out there? Haven't had time to sit long enough to listen to much news.
ALSO...what is the price of gas there now? It is varied here; 2.99 average price.
Guess everyone is watching TV. I am calling it a night.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP WELL
Hi, Wanda,
I think the fires are coming under control, although several are not out yet. Earlier in the week, the Weather site was predicting more high winds (no bueno), but now they've removed that. The temps are supposed to rise by the weekend though.
Gas prices are always high (if not the highest) here. I'll take a peek at my gas price site....
Regular is ranging from $2.91-3.09 today.
Jim
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYONE/WELCOME TO TGIF DAY TO SUZANNE AND/OR THE EARLY BIRDS....
JIM
So glad to hear that the fires are getting under control. Not so glad to hear about the prices of gas.
We are planning a trip out west in March. We drive an RV and only get 7 miles per gallon. From the price of a barrell of oil now, I have heard it may go up to $5.00 a gallon. YIKES!!
GOOD NIGHT AGAIN
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
Good night all!
Morning, Suz!
Great pics Nilla & Paula from this evening's visit
Thanks for the link Paula!
Good night everyone
Peace to you & yours
Good Morning early birds
FYI for those near Shepherdstown, 7-11 still had gas at 2.75 Thursday morning.
Too funny, that snack didn't last long, Bai is laying down now with Squiggles and both are going to sleep. I'm so jealous!!
Good morning, Suzanne...
I'm very glad to see you could make it in today...glad you are feeling better.
Jim
Good morning, Jim. Feeling much better, thanks! You don't appreciate how good you feel till you no longer do! Least I don't, I guess. Then it's always so nice to feel good again. Still gonna take cold pills for a day or so, but feeling tons better.
And are you up for a break, or up cause you can't sleep?
Well, I laid down earlier to rest my kinked backside and fell asleep. So now that I'm awake again, I'm doing a little work...on the computer mostly.
Wanted to say "hi" if you came in this morning.
To sleep before long I hope.
Jim
Yeah, naps will do that to ya every time. Weather by accident or not. Did you hurt your back?
Not really "hurt" it, Suz. But too much sitting here in not exactly the right position is making it kinked and sore more often...now that I'm not working all the time.
I just need to get more exercise ... good for me in many ways.
Jim
Oh ok. Glad you didn't hurt it! I know what you mean, I get a pain in my neck that goes down into my left shoulder if I sit at the computer too long. Have to get up and move around. And remind myself to blink, or my eyes get dry too. Geesh, it's heck getting old, isn't it?
You've probably had classes on the correct way to sit in front of a computer and how to exercise your wrists and hands....
Get up and stretch and breathe about once an hour, etc., etc.
Well, I haven't been doing any of that 100% lately.
Jim
I don't do it either, Jim, until my shoulder starts to hurt. I do blink, though! My eyes burn like fire if I don't blink. I also have to remind myself to blink while I'm watching TV...when I'm actually awake to watch it and not sleeping, that is. And we have ergonomic chairs here at work that absolutely KILL my back! So I found an old really comfy chair that I have in my cube. But that helps the back too.
The old "stand up, raise your arms and do some deep breathing, followed by some bending and touching the toes really helps.
You should always follow this procedure with a fresh, hot cup of coffee.... Ahhhhhhh.
Jim
DID SOMEONE SAY COFFEE! WHERE IS WANDA? SHE IS THE COFFEE GIRL!
GOOD MORNING SUZANNE AND JIM. I have today off, but have been laying there since four am wanting to see Dolly/Hope and Pete's Pond. So finally gave up and got up for a look see.
One last one and then to bed..
Did you learn that if you bend your elbows and put your hands out at 90 deg. with THE PALMS UP and then take deep breaths, you can get a lot more fresh exygenated air into your lungs??
Try it, it really works.
Jim
SUZANNE Glad to see you are feeling a little better today. AND JIM, what are we going to do with you and your retirement sleeping habits?
Well, so surprised to see you in this a.m. Suzanne, glad you are feeling better, have you ever tried the "Airborne" tablets, supposed to help keep immune system strong, I use them when I have to get on a plane .
S/B "oxygenated" of course..
Morning, Candy. I'm about to head back to bed, but I hope you and Suzanne really have a great Friday.
Jim
I am also glad I got up early as I am getting some good pointers on how to relieve the back ache from being on the computer too ling. :) A person can learn alot by getting on here early. :)
Good morning to Mits too, of course.
Good night again, all.
Jim
Thanks JIM and I hope you can get some more good sleep after doing all those stretches etc. :) I do the same thing after I get home from school; lay down and fall asleep, only to be awake in the middle of the night. Here's wishing JIM pleasant dreams and don't let those bed bugs bite. :)
SUZANNE, is Dolly/Hope laying on the stones now? I hope I get to see her do wing flaps today. She has really grown fast; too fast.
its 8 at night there, Candy, you will probably have to wait til their dawn to see wing=flaps from Dolly/Hope
GOOD FRIDAY A.M. EVERYONE going out of the room to get coffee, and they will probably fly into the nest.
So they may be hitting that snooze button for another hour or so.
well I'm either too early or to late to catch them the last couple of days.
Mits, somebody on cam 1 is up at the NZ. Tai is sleeping sitting up on cam 2. Bai is snuggling Squiggles!
GOOD MORNING SUZ, CANDY AND MITS--
It's good to have you on here this morning feeling better,Suz.
LOL, Yeah I think he did......can you get Maine nest now...there have been a few early a.m. and late afternoon visits.
Can't see them, but they are so close to the nest in Maine and being extremely vocal
CANDY...How much time off do you get for Thanksgiving?
awww, there is a dog sleeping on the beach at Bonnaire...
AND GOOD MORING TO YOU WANDA. I was looking for you to have coffee with JIM a little earlier. He couldn't sleep and was having coffee.
MITS---I have wondered what an "ASIAN TRAIL INTERPRETER" does. Do you speak a foreign language?
OH NO, CANDY...I'm not allowed to have coffee with another man. LOL
Well guess I'll miss seeing our birds in the nest. I am having trouble getting into the site. I'm not one to give up tho, and will keep trying.
DON'T FORGET THE SETTING BACK OF OUR CLOCKS THIS WEEKEND. I wonder how this affects our B & L visits.
Candy I have been having the same problem all of a sudden too.
ok its back
false alarm, no it si not, comes back on at 6:07, when I try to refresh it goes haywire
Oh well, what else. MITS, I can hear eagles on the Main cam, but no sightings.
Oh, I take that back! Pic was not refreshing, so I hit F5, and now it's not coming up. Well darn and double darn!
Beautiful sunrise up in Maine and Bonnaire.
You said it nicely SUZANNE! I feel like saying something else more potent!
Well, I'm just getting a black screen, then it times out before it refreshes!
Can anybody get a pic?
Steve...WAKE UP...we can't get the cam!!! They're due shortly!!
LOL, Candy, so do I, but this is a family blog, and the world is watching. Read the world is LURKING!
Blog had 288 hits yesterday, and there sure weren't 288 folks on here, that's for sure.
the only pic I get is at 6:07a.m., when I try to refresh...bingo it stops, and goes blank
yes, Suzanne, we can't be potty-mouths on here....
just heard some loons up in Maine...CANDY, are you getting the nasty weather this weekend from Hurricane Noel?
Well I did keep my mouth shut for once. I can't even get into the site at all. I was in earlier like you, but went to other spots.
I can get in to the site, but now, it is not even showing the 6:07 pic, just a black screen with the red x at the top.
Double :(:( :)
same for OC, too, Candy.
Mei is on cam #2, they have given her her a.m. bag of fruit.
We have been getting a few stragglers for parties this weekend, so we will stay open til tomorrow.
