Good morning, world. Not so chilly out today, but absolutely pea soup driving in...all the way! But41° at home, 45° here, and no wind. Just be careful diving, very hard to see.
Had some very sad news last night when I got home! Found a hawk in the middle of the road right in front of my house! I was so upset, couldn't sleep. Don't believe it was the red-tail that was visiting on Veterans' Day, this one was way whiter, and much smaller, and no red tail, kinda white under and brown outer feathers. But darn, hated to see that, that's for sure!!! Don't know why people can't see a hawk flying, it's not like they're the size of sparrows, for heaven's sake! Well, I hope he's flying in a better place.

Wow, giraffes in Africa, how cool is that! 4 of 'em, eating tree tops. Moose cam is dark, but looks like there is one there. Only 1 owl in the hotel this morning, too, and Bai and Squiggles ARE in the den sleeping! Well darn, there go the giraffes just walking off... But so cool to see them. Love this cam, it's like having a safari on your desktop!

Oh, how cute. One's a baby. Well, at least a shorter giraffe than parents. They're rubbing necks, that's adorable. Darn, wish I could take pics! Must be mom, dad, older kida, and baby. Two are adults, but one is taller than the other of the kids.
Bob, just looked at the pics you posted last night, they are awesome! Love LOVE the eagle silhouette!!! And love your second one, the gees flying...and the 2 eagles in the tree, how cool is that! Beautiful pics, as always.

Don't know about leaving early tomorrow, it's the heaviliest traveled day in the States. So going home is gonna be a nightmare regardless of what time I leave. Think it took me over 3 hrs last year to get home, don't remember, but it was waaaaay longer than normal!

Suzanne looking at our nest. Do you see the sprig (spelling) of greenery that has been brought in? It's not in any of the pics in the album. Wonder when they brought that in?
Not sure where you're talking about, Dana, but the "white" stuff that is actually greenery, that starts on the side of the nest from about 12 to 4ish was there yesterday. Kinda looks like a think backwards "C", is that what you mean?

No look at the 9 o'clock position see the greenery and the little leafs on it?
I might be wrong rechecking my early am pics on 11 18 it might have been there. so oooppps
Ok, Dana. Looking at pics from yesterday, I don't see any change in any of the greenery. Maybe when it gets lighter.
GOOD MORNING Don't know why I am up so early, but going to grab a cup of coffee and see if I can see some eagles, pandas, deer, turkeys, etc.
Do you realize that Blackwater laid egg last season Jan. 24th or 25th......time is getting closer and closer.

Actual time of sunrise there is 7:00a.m., so they must stay really close to the nest.
Mits, you're right. But I usually have my coffee by this time, but had lots of people in early today! Everybody wants to leave early tomorrow, so getting extra hours in early, and staying later.

I'm guessing they perch on the branches bove the nest, Mits.
In my mind that's where I picture them also, Suzanne. I don't think eagles fly in the night like geese.
I'd like to be "I shrunk the wife" for awhile. So I could be at NCTC right now watching the "live feed". Oh my ( :
They don't Mits. One of the bird handlers at last year's NCTC open house told us the eagles and owls have a time share for the sky. Eagles fly during the day, owls fly at night. Same girl that was there this year with the raptors.

Well, the Doctor is not quite sure what he is dealing with so we are going to hospital this morning for a CT Scan. He increased her pain meds and that will help for awhile.
We are still having Thanksgiving dinner at her house. She always looks forward to that.
