Hi Suzanne, it only took 5 minutes for this screen to load. Maybe Mits is having the same problems? I hope your cold is getting better and that you aren't too miserable. Hugs and a great weekend to all of the Eaglet_Momsters & Dadsters.
Morning, Iris! I hope you're doing alright! I'm doing much better, thanks! Norma, have Bonaire up at 2 sec intervals, and Big Bob swam by, but didn't look at the cam. Or at least A Big Boy went by. They are pretty fish when they're not inspecting the cam so closely!
Aw, Norma, that's too bad. Isn't he the one that had the kitten? Forget the cat's name, but they were on the cover of National Geographic many many years ago.
Feeling great Suzanne, just "patiently" waiting for the results-grin-
Norma, I didn't realize that Chimps could live that long - that is actually pretty amazing when you stop to think about it. What a breakthrough that was.
opps, sorry Suz, was online watching the 3-alarm explosion up at the Dominoe Sugar plant up in Baltimore, that is where I was born and raised just a few blocks from there, glad my Annie is on maternity leave, because it is right next to her office building and Maggies day-care at Tide Point
Yes--This was in NATIONAL GEO.---WV Schools for D & B are in Romney---I learned---through daughter---they teach sign lan. to babies at early age!!---Many kids in area know how to sign-----
Thanks, Mits, I wasn't sure. Ok, I remember that cover, Norma! What an article that was, too. Ewwiiee just left BW, don't know how long he was there. Mits, I hope nobody was hurt! Did the expolosion do much damage to surrounding buildings?
HELEN---I thought of you when I saw the explosion on CNN!!---I knew you were from there---I didn't know ANNIE worked in Baltimore---Thank Goodness she is at home---Will probably be all kinds of traffic, etc.---
well Norma have been trying to get in touch with her because I know she is supposed to pick up a friend of hers who lives close to the scene, but can't get her on her cell, thanks, will look at CNN
MORNIN' AGAIN JIM!!---I see you haven't gotten your old sleep cycle back yet!!!!---JUST A THOUGHT JIM!!!---(lack of sleep will cause bags under one's eyes)----KIDDIN'
Suzanne, have a good weekend....get lots of rest, and drink plenty of fluids, also another good thing to buy are the Kleenex anti-viral tissues, kills 99.9% of germs....
WHOA JIM!!---DOLLY-HOPE seems to have flying on her mind!!!----Saw her practicing the other day!!---Little Cutie!!---gets prettier & stronger each day!!!
It's kinda chilly and foggy right now, and they do not have the winds icon up on the Weather site. BUT! It does mention strong winds building up this evening and tomorrow, coming from the NE and N!!
I sure hope it doesn't blow up any further firestorm troubles.
Thanks, Mits! I have several boxes of Kleenex left, but no anti-viral. Will have to stop on way home and get some! Mits, hope everything is alright! You and your family will be in my prayers! Think I read that only 1 person was injured in the fire, and I imagine they have cutoff traffic to the area. Hello again, Jim. I'm watching zebras and Impalas, beautiful. Squiggles is snoozing alone, Tai is on his grate, and someone on cam1 is eating bamboo, all laid back and relaxed! Way too cute. Hate to leave all these beautiful creatures, and all you beautiful people, but time for me to hit the road. Want to get home in time to take a nap for Meerkat Manor tonight. Norma, did you know this is the last show of season 3? DARN! Don't think I'm gonna watch The Murder Club, it's not very good. At least I don't think so, books were of course, WAY better. The women stand and walk and talk like they're reading their lines from their scripts. BOOOORRRRRING. Look at that fat little zebra drinking water. Ok, all have a great eagle/panda weekend. Blog at ya Monday. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Have a safe trip home SUZANNE AND GIVE HUGS AND KISSES TO YOUR KITTIES. Have a good weekend. I hope your cold is gone by Monday and you are feeling much better.
Last year at least one of the Aussie eyasses flew the coup before dawn! But I don't think Dolly will fledge before all the fluff has disappeared...a day or two anyway.
Greg answered a bunch more queries lately, but he didn't answer mine about preparations to film the event this year.
MITS-One channel is reporting an injury another is saying no injuries but somebody may be missing or unaccounted for. Think she may not have come to work today or something. Damage seemed to be contained to the building tho, nothing around it but traffic is shut down in the area.
well the Baltimore stations are the most accurate, channel 9 here in DC said it was a fire and 1 person missing which was a 2 hour old report when they had it on TV, these stations here are, sorry to say...CRAP, if a Redskin had stubbed his toe this morning it would have been a bulletin and the 1st 10 mins of the newscast would have taken priority, channel 7 never said anything about it. This was a 3-alarm explosion 40 miles away, and nothing
HI JILL---That's what I heard on WZJ---BALTIMORE----We get that channel on our cable!!!!----Hey--Headline news in CUMBERLAND paper----"TEACHING THE ART OF FLIGHT"---Petersburg Airport!!--Are you signing up!--ho!
Right, Norma - vultures are cool, in their own way. And they certainly have a part to play in a healthy environment. I think that it was a female gorilla who had the kitten. I haven't been to Baltimore for years, but I know where that Domino Sugar palnt is. It's a well-known landmark in the city. One of my sisters is a graphic artist at the National Aquarium on the Harbor in Baltimore. Has anyone heard any news on the African lion loose in Greenbrier County?
'LITTLE BEAUTY" is awake---attempting to eat BAMBOO while lying on her back---LUN LUN is walking around in circles---Bet little one starts something---ho!---always does----& I so ENJOY watching them!!
CAROL--I had read they were hunting an AFRICAN LION in Greenbrier---Two hunters had seen him---I know that DNR was really hunting for him----for safety reasons!!--Haven't rec. yesterday's or today's paper---Get by mail!!!---sometimes they get behind!!!---I'm not sure about WASHOE--having the kitten---SUZANNE thought so---I just read it in Nat. Geo. this a.m.---Will certainly GOOGLE him!----ho!--
I just did a search on "gorilla & kitten" and found out that the gorilla's name who had the kitten is Koko. She was grief stricken when it died. Can't find any news online about the Balt explosion.
Mits, I haven't heard a word on Fox News. NOTHING. And you are right about the Redskins. Not sure they would have had to stub a toe, a sneeze would have been enough.
NO NO NO NO and NO. You can have my seat. Many years ago when Jim Cookman got his pilots license he offered to take me up and the answer was a very convincing H*** NO. He never asked again. LOL
lol..living in this area in like living in a vacuum, I love being out of this area and seeing real-life news, not just politics or sports. Carol, it is on all the Baltimore TV stations websites.
Jill and Norma - I have flown out of and back to the Petersburg Airport. When I was married and living on the road to Spruce Knob Lake, my husband and I woke up one Sunday morning because a small plane buzzing our house. We went outside and someone waved at us out of the plane. We knew that it was our friend John. He had told us once that if he ever buzzed our house, we should immediately drive to the Petersburg Airport and he would take us for a plane ride. We did and he did. He flew us back over our house and the houses nearby. It was really neat to see houses we were familiar with from the air. When we flew over our house, all of our chickens scattered. It was fun!
Afternoon, All! Haven't had a chance to catch up on the blog, I do see we couldn't view the cam this morning, but it looks great now.
Had an electrical problem at one of our stores this morning, the fuse on the electrical transformer blew, had to wait for Allegheny to repair it, once we found out what the problem was. Store only had 1/2 the power, had to turn everything off! They came out very quickly, and store is back in business. And only lost one computer monitor! Now, to do some real work!

poor lady was probably in the ladies room when this happened, thank God for water sprinklers, that worked, otherwise this could have been a terrible disater....glad to see the neon sign still intact. My sister, "the reader" can look right out her front door and see the sign.
Mits, that sounds too close for comfort! Hope you contact Annie soon. Came home from Dr with antibiotics that should fix me right up! But it is Panda Nap time right now.
Jo, could never get a hold of Annie, but talked to son and he said she was still scheduled to pick up her friend who lives nearby the plant, because traffic was doing ok. I'm just glad she and the kids where not at her office right next door when this happened.
CAROL--My 1st mistake about WASHOE----She is a "SHE"--(Think I knew that)--DOB-Africa--Wild-Brought to US by US Air Force--Adpt.by Drs. Allen & Beatrix Gardener--was cross-fostered, that is, she was raised in their home as if she were a deaf child & 1st non-human to acquire a human language!!--moved in with Roger & Deborah Fouts--WASHOE'S son-LOULIS was taught the sign lang. by WASHOE--1st animal to acquire a human lang. from a non-human----MUCH MORE HER STORY---Dr. Fouts wrote a book "NEXT OF KIN"--She was unbelievable!!--Liked looking through books, mag., & catalogs!!--Loved shoe catalogs & didn't mind signing comments to people about what she was reading----LIKED painting coffee & tea parties, brushing her teeth & checking out humans shoes!!!--DIED 10/30/07--AGE 42, brief illness, (most fem. chimps die at about 33-35) SUGGEST YOU "GOGGLE WASHOE'S SITE!!---You will be hooked----having a memorial, etc.
Mits - you mentioned the neon sign. If you go to the Baltimore Sun website and check out the 10 photos they have posted on the Sugar plant - the last photo is a beautiful one of the neon sign lite at nite, reflecting in the harbor.
HELEN---Your prayers have been answered!!!---The WJZ Station kept down playing everything---I can't imagine how upset you must have been!!!---Hope she calls you soon!!
I will head over there to the Sun to see it Carol, thanks, it is equally as pretty in the fog, when it glows, or in the snow. It is beautiful from the top of the Hilton hotel up in Baltimore. When hubby retires, my first suggestion was to move up to the inner harbor, but it looks like we will be going to Annapolis, which is where we first lived when we were married.
Has anyone seen CNN in the last few minutes??? Read this:
"Nuclear plant employee stopped with explosive device
(CNN) -- A contract employee of an Arizona nuclear plant was stopped at a plant entrance Friday with an explosive device in his truck, officials told CNN.
There was no threat to the public, said Jim McDonald, spokesman for Arizona Public Service Company, which owns the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Wintersberg, Ariz., 34 miles west of Phoenix.
The employee works for the plant -- the largest nuclear plant in the nation -- but not for APS, McDonald said. He was on his way to work and at a security entrance about a half a mile from the plant when a routine security sweep found the item.
Victor Dricks, regional spokesman for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, said a capped pipe was found in the truck bed. Dricks said the pipe had suspicious residue, but the APS said initial checks failed to show any explosive material on the pipe. (Posted 3:11 p.m.)"
Norma, her cell phone was off, when I tried to call, but I knew from both my sisters that traffic was moving in and around the area, Annie doesn't even know I was trying to contact her, so she will not be calling me back, she is headed out of town with all her friends for a girls away weekend.
As long as Sheriff Joe Arpaio is in charge of Maricopa county in Arizona, I would feel safe, he is one courageous individual, who makes sure the criminals in his care are not pampered like the rest of the jails do in this country.. they have TV, but it is always on the Weather Channel, if you have done the crime, you will do the time in his jail. Wish there were more law enforcement people like him. Always feel safe when I am out there. He has the situation well in hand out in Arizona
11/02/07: We got our satellite dish problem fixed, but the weather forecast is calling for high winds for the next couple days, and that might cause temporary problems with our signal.
It is so wonderful to know that God not only heard all our prayers but HE answered with all the right answers! AMEN! (((HUGS))) to Iris and everyone else who needs one!
don't know how long they will let you vote, but, have to also have it approved by China, which should not be a problem, because they have already had the final say for the 4 names being voted on
I get their weekly e-mail, and I already sent it to you a couple of mins ago....every Friday like clock-work that e-mail comes in at 6 o'clock, except the week of the fires, than it came in on Saturday a.m.
I just read that the naming contest of SQUIGGLES has been delayed---because of the fire--------Don't worry they will let us know when we can vote in plenty of time!!!
You can vote now. Got to the site where the picture is, click on the vote for a name link above the camera, you get 4 choices with english translations. I liked Zhen Zhen-Precious. Another was translated Bright Something but I thought that was hard to pronounce. Have fun ladies.
Hi Jim - I guess you are ready to begin your evening and I am getting ready to end mine. Thanks for the link - voted for Squiggles' real name. I've been trying to keep an eye on Dolly over on the ledge corner. For a while I just didn't see her at all but she sure hugs the shadow.
Lib is still sitting in the same spot. Not doing anything but looking from side to side; maybe waiting on Belle to bring some branches to nestorate some more.
Don't know if those local to Martinsburg have read the news yet but we lost a State Trooper last night. Please pray for his family and colleagues. It is a devastating blow to the law enforcement community. He was responded to a call for help by other troppers and lost control of his vehicle.

"Nuclear plant employee stopped with explosive device
(CNN) -- A contract employee of an Arizona nuclear plant was stopped at a plant entrance Friday with an explosive device in his truck, officials told CNN.

We got our satellite dish problem fixed, but the weather forecast is calling for high winds for the next couple days, and that might cause temporary problems with our signal.
We'll update the Gallery over the weekend.

Glad you got to see them, Mits!
Kewl, Mits, thanks for the info on SD - didn't know they were going to do online voting...
I was out of the room and walked back in and there they were.
SD really has to shake a leg, getting this naming thing going, that 100 day celebration is coming fast.
Great pics of ButaButa, Donna!
I said the other day it was day 89....don't remember what day it was I said that...
I was outside, Mits, came in and there they were, too.
Day 89 was Wedsnesday
I guess I was the one who had to leave the room tonight! Darn!
Got your pics Mits.
So Nov 11 would be Day 100, I believe - don't know if they count day 1 as the day she was born or not...I'm not
don't know how long they will let you vote, but, have to also have it approved by China, which should not be a problem, because they have already had the final say for the 4 names being voted on
Mits - where did you hear the info on SD? Can't even find it on their website!
I have Africam up, and it sounds like some animal is trying to eat the cam....
I get their weekly e-mail, and I already sent it to you a couple of mins ago....every Friday like clock-work that e-mail comes in at 6 o'clock, except the week of the fires, than it came in on Saturday a.m.
the link I have for Tesoro has not been working most of the day.
Thanks for the info, just signed up!
I just read that the naming contest of SQUIGGLES has been delayed---because of the fire--------Don't worry they will let us know when we can vote in plenty of time!!!
Norma, voting starts tomorrow.

You can vote now. Got to the site where the picture is, click on the vote for a name link above the camera, you get 4 choices with english translations. I liked Zhen Zhen-Precious. Another was translated Bright Something but I thought that was hard to pronounce. Have fun ladies.
Here they are, it was the last one I thought was hard to pronounce.
Li Hua Beautiful China lee hua
Ming Zhu Bright Treasure ming jew

Hi, everybody...
Jill~~ I think your link to the naming site is missing the end, so after finding it on the main site, I made this clickable link up.
Jim
Hi Jim - I guess you are ready to begin your evening and I am getting ready to end mine. Thanks for the link - voted for Squiggles' real name. I've been trying to keep an eye on Dolly over on the ledge corner. For a while I just didn't see her at all but she sure hugs the shadow.
Good Night Everyone
Peace to You & Yours
IRIS--
Once again, our prayers have been answered. We are all so very happy for you.
GOOD NIGHT TO EVERYONE
SLEEP WELL
Thanks Jim, I had to run to work didnt' even take time to check it. Hope everybody takes time to vote. Oh and you can vote more than once, I tried it.
IF anyone is up, there is an ENORMOUS HERD of Oryx at Pete's Pond ... must be more than a 100.
Jim
And they are thirsty...they're lining the banks around the Pond.
Jim
I looked them up in Wikipedia, and they are actually Eland, I believe.
Jim
Now, the Eland are trotting off into the bush and the elephants have arrived.
Jim
THE EAGLE HAS LANDED!!
BOTH ARE HERE NOW.
They are both checking out the Egg Cup.
Their eyes are glowing in the night light. Weird.
Lib has left the premises and Belle is still with us.
Checking out the Egg Cup again.
Belle is looking to see where Lib is. Maybe hoping for breakfast in bed!
I may have been wrong; I think it is Lib in the nest. Hard to tell with this artificial light.
S/he is still in the Egg Cup....not much action(it is very cold here).
Lib is still sitting in the same spot. Not doing anything but looking from side to side; maybe waiting on Belle to bring some branches to nestorate some more.
Empty nest now.
I guess they have both gone for breakfast. I am outa here too. BBL
JO....I e-mailed this morning's visit to you.
New thread is up. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Looks like a busy one at NCTC.
NEW THREAD!
In case you missed the small print, friends.
Jim
Don't know if those local to Martinsburg have read the news yet but we lost a State Trooper last night. Please pray for his family and colleagues. It is a devastating blow to the law enforcement community. He was responded to a call for help by other troppers and lost control of his vehicle.
