Friday 4/28 Wrap up

The weather today could not be better--a bluebird day in WV--62 degrees, crisp air, breeze from the north.

We went out for an hour to participate in Adopt a Highway, and as we walked back in we saw one of the adults, soaring high above us with a couple of turkey vultures! There no saying what company these birds keep sometimes. It was a spectacular site as the birds circled high above us, with the white head and tail of the eagle sharply defined against the deep blue sky.

The photos above were taken by NCTC alum and FWS retiree Jim Clark back in 2004. The nest shot (click on it) gives you a great new perspective on the nest albiet a bit smaller back then.

Thanks for sharing these pics with us. The closeup of the nest puts things in better perspective, even though I am sure it is bigger this year.

8:58 a.m. Okay, I am a little concerned. One of the adults was taking off a few minutes ago and landed right on the big boy. He is moving a little bit now but hasn't moved very much since it happened. I hope he is okay.

Thank God he is up and moving around now. I was worried.

Today is Saturday 7:17pm: Frustrating day as the live eagle cam must have crashed on 4-28-2006 at 1:08:43pm and the video is not streaming.......... I guess I can hold on until one of them is up and running. The eagle pics posted are just breathtaking! I do enjoy the Blackwater site on beakspeak. I guess I'll see if it is running. Our big boy best not take that 1st fledging and all of us miss it!

I am so glad to see somebody can't get it either. As you can tell from all my posts, I thought I was by myself. It is frustrating when we can't even see pictures. I guess we will just have to hang on for a little while. The live cam was up this morning until about 9:15 so I had hoped it would be here for the weekend. I know, I need a life! :)

If you feel lost this weekend not seeing our eagles- go to Beakspeak to the Blackwater site in Cambridge,MD. Click on 'site map', Bald eagle Cam, Eagle Web logs, 2006 Eagle cam web log. There are video clips and on line gallery pictures that are awesome. There is a picture of an eaglet being held by a man & you can't believe the size! I don't think our babies are this big yet.

Jo, I went there and that occupied me for a long time. There is one part with funny pictures - actually the captions are funny. I love this stuff. Thanks.

Sorry we've been off all wekend. Not sure what the problem is, but I'm sure we'll have it fixed Monday.

That is okay, Steven. I just hope we haven't missed anything big this weekend. :)

Okay, going through some major withdrawal here, wondering what our babies are doing. Hope they get at least the eagle cam back up soon and hopefully the live cam too.
