Shirley here is what teacher friend posted on fb.

Nice try, kid.

Good Grief, Lolly---hope your TX gang is OK--bad weather there too!!

Wanda & Judie, you mentioned dentist~~duh. That's where I went this afternoon---a bum gum. Got sore Sat., so I called his EM # to start on Penicillin. He called it in to my drugstore. Fubby went up after the Preakness & pharmacy closes at 6PM on weekends!! DUH!!!!I missed about 3 doses before I could get meds. He, of course, wanted to pull tooth---but I want to keep it for awhile. It's a premolar, had fractured--got a root canal and cap. Then cap & stump broke off. He put it together w/more posts & super glue! I don't want to throw all that work & $$ away so soon.He took Xray & I said there would be a little sign down there that says, "I'm fine". So, he numbed it sort of, & cleaned out gum around tooth. Got more habby pills, too.
No wonder I'm pooped! Enough about dentist ☺.

One of my fellow teachers had a poetry reading recently. Each student had to select a poem to read to the class. She called it the "Cosmic Coffeehouse." Here is her comment:

Well, the Cosmic Coffeehouse was a hit! The kids shared poems by everyone from Shakespeare to Silverstein. Of course, there was the little red-haired boy who read a poem about a rooster , written in the 1600s or something, called "An Excellent Cock." There's always that one kid in every class...I had to laugh as he tried to read the poem with a straight face:)

SPECIAL UPDATE #5 11:00pm 5/24: There are reports that a LARGE WEDGE TORNADO has been spotted to the south - southeast of Dallas, TX. This is just a report and has not been confirmed.

No, Lynne. Dallas is about an hour northeast of us. We are south of Fort Worth. However, there is another line headed towards us now.

Lolly said...

Wow...now some are getting softball size hail!!!

Lolly said...

Looks like it is going to be a rough night.

paula eagleholic said...

Lolly, whatever happened to your roof from the last hail?

Lynne2 said...

oh Lolly, shouldn't you go somewhere safe????

Lolly said...

We are under a severe thunderstorm warning, no tornado warning for us. We will head to a closet if we need to.

The adjuster said we did not need a new roof, contractor said we needed a new roof. They are supposed to come out together and come to a conclusion.

Lynne2 said...

Lolly, you are not plugged in are you? Please tell me you are on battery and wireless.....

Lolly said...

looks like the storm is almost past you Lolly. Hope Michael and family are safe.

Taking computer in for repair tomorrow morning. Hopefully will check in before that. After that, not sure if I'll get back any time soon. Will have to see what options I have for a loaner or something. Or even if this one can be fixed. Interesting that as long as I am actually ON the computer using it, it stays powered up. I walk away for a few minutes and GONE. Anyway, don't worry if you don't hear from me on here for the next couple of days...may not be able to check in again til I can use the computer at work when I go in on Friday.

I'm heading to bed....goodnight and prayers for all!

PA Nana said...

Hi everyone that is still here.

I have made my votes for AI online and I agree with Lolly; They allowed 50. It was tough to vote for just one so I voted for each several times (maybe more for Scotty ☺).

Lolly, take cover if need be and hope your kids and families are safe.

I can't imagine the fear/dread of tornadoes. Never experienced one and don't care to. There was several small ones in PA yesterday but nothing close.

Shirley's story about the poem reminded me of a similar story when I was in elementary school. The teacher wanted to read/discuss the 'Princess and the Pea' and the boys in class laughed so much he had to stop. Never did read it.

Hoda said...

Lolly stay safe. I read your reassurances as to location, and I am glad you are now on battery...

good postings Lynne 2...

I too am now thinking of the dentist. I get to go there on Thursday. It is only a cleaning and my insurance will pick up this tab...hope they do not think I need another crown...I get to pay 50% on crowns and do not want that...I identified with all the postings on dental treatments also.

PA Nana said...

Goodnight Lynne & Lynn & Jo. I'm always late.... Maybe I can see the cams across the pond now.

No eagle cam and having to sign in to blog is no fun.

Hi, Everyone,
Here to say goodnight. The City of Anaheim put a notice on our door today that they will be working on our street tomorrow, replacing water meters and electric meters. Sometime between 8 am and 4 pm, our water and electric will be turned off for about 20 or 30 minutes. We are not supposed to have our computer turned on during the day, so I may have to use battery.

Lolly, hoping you and yours are all safe tonight! Our granddaughter (the one who's 23) lives in Dallas in 75206 zip code. Will have to check to see whether she's on tornado watch. Our daughter & family live in Aubrey. Think they're OK except for rain. We talked to Courtney tonight. She had a GREAT Birthday dinner, and Jen made her a chocolate chip cookie cake! YUM!

PA Nana said...

Well, Hoda, I guess it's just you and me.

Maybe Andy will check in later. I'm on time for the west coast.

Did Lolly sign off?

PA Nana said...

Hi Andy! Guess you're heading to the pillows too, so have a good night and God bless!

Ms Bookworm said...

Golly, what IS it with dentists today?! Hubby chipped a front tooth somehow today! Not hurting, but needs to make an appt. for it. We need to find a new dentist. I have the name of one who does laser tooth cleaning instead of major gum surgery! Might be worth a try. Will be praying for Darth tomorrow, Judie!

PA Nana said...

Andy, if you're still here, I'd love that recipe for Chocolate Chip Cake. Please and thank you

Hoda said...

According to the Hoffington Post, the Justuce Department just gave the go ahead to prosecute John Edwards on campaign finance violations

Lolly said...

Storm has passed us. Had hard rain for a short while with an occasional pea size hail.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Diann!
Nope, not quite yet. Not even 9 pm here in SoCal yet. I've been busy doing dishes that need hand washing and filling a bunch of old plastic gallon bottles with water so I can water patio plants tomorrow. Sure is a pain that the City decided to replace meters! Hope it will be worth it.

Lolly said...

Nice to get .4 inch of rain.

PA Nana said...

Ok, saying goodnight now. Will watch a little of Jay Leno or something boring until I get sleepy.

Prayers for all needs and love you all.
God bless!

Ms Bookworm said...

Diann, I'll ask my daughter for the cake recipe tomorrow. Sure sounds good, doesn't it?!

Hoda said...

Hi Pana,I am still here.

I hope every one else has sweet dreams and God Bless them and keep them safe.

Andy, are you on Face Book? I got a Friends request from Andy but did not recognize the name so refused it...was it you? If I had known it was someone from the blog I would have accepted it. Send it again if it was you, please...

Lolly said...

Diann....I do hope you voted more for Scotty!!! LOL Really they are both so good. HOWEVER, I am in love with Scotty. Jack says I am not a cougar but worse. ☺ But, he is just so cute!

Hoda said...

PA Nana, sorry about the mistake with the spelling of your name....good night God Bless.

I was very happy with the winner of DWTS...either one of the last two couples standing would have been OK, but, I was swaying a little more toward the winner.

I forgot to mention, earlier, that I caught TWO fox kits on my trail cam last night (I think it was last night)Absolutely adorable. I will post it tomorrow for those who like to watch it:)

Going to lay me down to sleep.

GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS FOR ALL

Hoda said...

Lolly I am glad the storm passed you and I hope the hail did not cause more damage to your roof.

Hoda said...

Hurrah Lolly and I just sent you an email asking you to do so...thanks I will go accept it right away...

Andrea, I put a green plastic garbage can with a lid, on my deck and fill it with the hose, put a cut off detergent bottle with the handle still on, in the can and place the lid on to keep critters and mosquitoes out. When plants need watering, the water is right there.
Nite

Hoda said...

Goodnight every one God Bless and see you tomorrow. Sleep well.

Lolly said...

I think it is time for me to head to the shower and then to bed. No more storms popping up.

I did talk with my sister. They are in Wisconsin. They were going to start home but with the holiday weekend coming up they have decided to wait until next week. Glad of that, do not want them driving home with all these storms.

Night all! Sweet dreams!

magpie said...

Wow.
Dentists, storms, computer and blogging and cam problems...
the whole worrisome gamut.
Hope everyone has come through the awful stormy weather, okay. Though I know there are hundreds of thousands affected.

And DanaWV, sorry about your Mom's problems with her bench, and her statue, and her frog...

You DID mean Virgin Mary and not Virgin Margy, I just know it !
But I had to chuckle when you posted that...another blooper for our lexicon.
Hope the culprit gets discovered, and made to pay, that is just plain meanness !!! Is it the mean neighbor who lives behind her?

magpie said...

I'm so tired.
Busy evening, and a long family telephone call when I got home.
Had to busy myself with busy things to get my thoughts straight.

will leave you with two thoughts:
1) James (my grandson) reports that he has learned that we use 17 muscles to smile, and 42 to frown, so ....
I'm just sayin'
and
2) his mother says she came across this during her recovery meetings:
Don't Show God how Big our Problems are, Show Our Problems, How Big Our God Is...

I can go to bed with both of those thoughts, and share them with you.

Prayers for every need that I can muster before falling asleep...
God Bless This Nest, and

WOW it was a dental kind of day on Monday.

LORETTA you get the pain prize - and Dental story of the Day! Oh that sounds so painful! Good thing you have your habby pills! Now, ANDY needs habby pills for her hubby's tooth. :)

WANDA, LYNN and DWTS fans - I think DwtS ended perfectly. The right person was the winner. JMHO. Wasn't unhappy to see Chelsea go out first. Very cute and good dancer, but that's her job and she's grown up doing it.

WV DANA - thanks for the AI alert last night. I woulda missed it! Judges seemed to think that Lauren won the night. Think I like Scotty better though.

Will be very happy when The C Word (cancer) comes back on Showtime next month. Great show starring Laura Linney and Oliver Platt (think that's his name).

LOLLY - glad you were spared the tornado threats last night. Crazy, crazy weather.

I'm very excited my new steam mop should arrive today! Don't like dirty floors and this rain, pollen and gardening dirt is doing a number on them - plus 2 dogs and 2 cats that go in and out all the time, I feel like I should take up the hard wood and lay astro turf!

Lori O. said...

Just checked the cam and got this notice on OC:

NOTE: The live stream is offline at this time.

Due to technical and weather related issues, WE DO NOT HAVE A TIME ESTIMATE ON A RESOLUTION.

We apologize for the Inconvenience. Please return later. Thank you.

Lori O. said...

OH NO. STILL CAM IS FROZEN!

Just checked still cam and it's got the funny lines at the top. You can see the nest all brightly colored in green - so it's definitely not showing a 2:30AM picture!

Kay said...

Good morning, LORI ! Read all the dental work comments and agree, the costs are out of whack ! However, the investment is a wise one as so many of our body systems/functions can be affected by poor dental health. I've spent a small fortune on gold crowns etc. over the years, but am happy to have a mouthful of my own teeth !

Looks unanimous, we're all happy with the DWTS winner. Hines is so charismatic and it's been a joy to learn his story and see his cute little mama in the audience. Kudoes to Kirstie on the weight loss ! Hope she'll stay active and keep it from creeping back this time.

I'm sickened to learn of the horrible tornadoes that hit OK last night. I have many relatives in the storm area and wait anxiously for word from a cousin on one side of the family and a former SIL on the other. Between my first four years of life in OK City and my cumlative 20 years in Ohio, I've been in on many a tornado watch. Have only had to seek shelter twice. About 15 years ago while visiting my son's family in College Station, TX and a year ago in East Grand Rapids,MI while visiting my daughter. No touch down in the Texas scare, but one did strike a rural community 20 miles northeast of Eileen's MI home on that tense night.

The storms that were expected here last night did not materialize, but more may hit sometime today and this evening. Those storms in OK, KS and MO are deadheading east pretty much along the I70 corridor. Ugh !

Julie and Malcolm visited after dinner last night, leaving Seth and his dad working on Geometry homework. Malcolm was all keyed up so we took him on a walk to the river. "My" deer herd was grazing in the woods along the way. Always love seeing them !

There is a HUGH spotch of bird poo on a stepping stone behind my deck. Wonder if a bird got stranded in the tree above during the bad storm night before last. It had to have been a very big bird and perhaps scared *#%&less !

Morning prayers being said for those in need and especially for JUDIE's Darth as he faces surgery today.

Hey eagle buds, I just heard something of interest. Do you take a baby aspirin daily for blood thinning and heart attack prevention ? I've done so for a number of years and with my doc's blessing. However, I was never told you should take it in the morning and I've been taking it with my evening pills. Changing my habit today ! This was part of a medical news alert as conveyed by a credible source, by the way.

JudyEddy said...

GOOD Morning Eagle Buds I didn't turn my coffe pot on last nite Waiting for it to get done

Kay said...

Hi JUDY ! What will you and Jordyn be doing today ?

Lori O. said...

Kay you crack me up!

For anyone who got the email about taking Bayer aspirin for a heart attack telling you to take it at night IT'S BOGUS. The Mayo Clinic, which is credited in the email, says it didn't release any such nonsense. The email tells you to take an aspirin at night to prevent a heart attack because the 1/2 life of aspirin is 12 - 24 hours (please!)- that's not true.
TRUTH is: The great majority of heart attacks happen beween 7 - 11AM. The half life for less than 250mg in an adult is 2 - 4 hours. If taken at night it would do no good by morning. I'm sure Nurse Lynn could explain that much better. Sorry I don't have my cheat sheet for entering links or I would have.

Lori O. said...

Morning JudyE! I read last night that you wouldn't be an Early Bird this morning. Cams are still out!

Kay said...

LORI, thanks for further illumination on aspirin usage. Who knew ? This is great info for this blog where so many have health concerns for themselves or loved ones ! I crack you up ? Moi ? ☺

Lori O. said...

Here's another: My doctor asked about cholestoral medication last visit and said "Now, you do take it at NIGHT don't you?" I said no, that no one ever mentioned that I should... She said definitely at night because that's when your body makes cholestoral!
Now, I don't take it at all because my levels are good and the med gave me the worst aching joints.

OKay - no more grumping. See what happens when the cams go down? Grump, grump, grump.

Setting some music to my 2 fox kits video/slideshow. I love doing this and can't wait to see the finished product:)

I think I must have missed Lynn's Trail Cam report???

stronghunter said...

Have been skimming the posts. I hope the weather has settled down in Texas at this point.

I had my last SOL training session as a regular teacher this morning. (We are required to go through training every time we give tests.) Then I talked to one of the people running the thing--a retired administrator. He said I would be giving a math test this time. Our school does not have us administer the test to our own students.

stronghunter said...

Pardon me, I should have said good morning first. I hope you all have a reasonable day. "Reasonable day"--quoting one of my good friends, a retired librarian.

Jo's Jenny found a newborn fawn in her garden this morning! I just shared the pic on FB so you can see!

Lynne2 said...

I'm getting ready to take the computer for repair. Well, hopefully for just repair...hate to see it end up in the Appliance Graveyard.

Best Buy/ Geek Squad said if it's a lengthy process, I can "buy" a computer and return it in 15 days for the restocking fee of $65. I will have to weight the cost of all of this out. This one is almost 3 years old, or should I say ONLY almost 3 years old. Too soon to have had it's 3rd major problem. I'm pretty sure the battery is toast. I know it's not recognizing the CD drive. If the repairs plus the cost of the "loaner" gets higher than 50% of the cost of a new computer, well, I have to think on that. I can't be without one.

Lynne2 said...

I am feeling pretty confident that they'll be able to back up my pictures for me since it's still actually working....

hedgie said...

Morning all!

Surely hope that the fawn that Jenny sees is okay....not unusual for mom to "hide" them for several hours while she forages. So many people do not understand that this is normal.....but seems like such a risk for the fawns....so open to predators---4-legged and human!

hedgie said...

Not to worry, JudyE---no cam for me on the page today, either. However comments ARE there.

Wanda---only thing I had on trail cam yesterday AM were 2 shots of squirrels! NOT what I want to see!!!

Glad that everyone has been spared bad weather effects....Kay, sure hope that your kin and friends are okay in OK.

Lynne2 said...

Hi Lynn! Yep, mom's leave the fawns when they are first born. The baby has no scent for a couple of days and it's the mother's way of protecting it. She'll be back to nurse a couple of times a day while the fawn gains strength to keep up with her! I can't even count the number of phone calls over the years in the vet business from panicked people wondering what to do.

floralgirl said...

Okay, I have only read this page, but NO, I have not been sleeping in, its summer, I'm crazy busy. Blogger wouldnt let me sign in yesterday. I've been working nonstop, not much time for anything else. Peonies are popping in this heat, and must be checked about every 3 hours so I pick them before they open, then they are refrigerated. Also, kid is not out of school yet.
Hope everyone is doing okay, another gorgeous day here, sunny and mid 80's. There's a hummer sitting beside me on a feeder while I'm typing this into phone:)
Have a great day everybody !

Dropping in with a quick "Howdy!" Must go hit the shower right away--the City may show up in an hour and turn off our water & electricity. They are replacing meters on our street today.

Praying for Darth as he goes to the dentist. I GREATLY DISLIKE dentists, so you can gauge the intensity of my prayers from that!

Emma is frisky this morning! She is such a sweetheart we can hardly believe it. Just FULL of puppy kisses and waggy back end!

Gotta go get presentable. Will check in later, possibly with my laptop on battery power.

LYNNE2, heavy-duty prayers for your computer situation! Hope there's an inexpensive cure! BTW, I just signed up with Carbonite for backup of my laptop. $59 a year--not a bad deal. Took them 2 full days to back up everything I had; now it will back up anything I save, instantly. Well worth it, I think, since our whole life is on this computer! Well, BBIALW. HAGD! :o]

Lynne2 said...

oh Lynn....don't worry, you'll get something spectacular on your trail cam before too long!

Lynne2 said...

I will check into that Andy, when things get a bit more stable for us! And I have learned my lesson about not backing up right away. It's really only pictures, but they are precious to me.

OK, bye!

hedgie said...

BTW----nurse Lynn says, YES, take your baby ASA in the AM!!! (My Dad had a heart attack while brushing his teeth getting ready for work one morning!) I was NOT aware tho' that we produce more cholesterol while sleeping....hmmmm.

hedgie said...

Hoda, I sent you a friend request on FB, too!!

Lolly said...

Good morning! Heading out real soon to do the patio today! Finally! The dry line has passed through, we have bright sunshine!

Did not know about the baby aspirin. Changing to morning!

Prayers for Darth this morning. His turn to be the patient and Judie the care giver.

Storms are now headed east. Certainly hope there are not more tornadoes. Just can not imagine the devastation.

Annie just walked across between me and my laptop and settled down. I get no respect!!!! She is maintaining her weight. She lost a couple pounds but is staying right at 10 lbs right now.

hedgie said...

Lynne, best wishes for the puter.

Andy, sounds like a smart move with that back-up. Can you do more than one puter for that price?

Lolly said...

I am off now! Need to get started before it gets way too hot!

Have a great day!

And, prayers for Lynne's computer too. Or should I say for Lynne? They have had too much bad news recently!

Lolly said...

Lynn...came back to tell you....give Liesl a scratch behind the ears and a nuzzle from me.☺

Lolly said...

One more thing to tell you.

Laurel got her students test scores back. She has 129 reading students. All but 2 passed. One she was not surprised about, but the other has her really puzzled. The one she was not surprised about is a girl who is from Russia, was adopted about 3 years ago and is in counseling. She has serious problems.

Anyway, very proud of Laurel and her success! Now waiting to hear of Joseph's test scores.

Bye! Have a great day!

Oh, my...I stand corrected on MEGAN'S early morning whereabouts. Thought she may have been sleeping in (silly me), because daughter is out of school and doesn't need to be driven to bus stop (still in school)...she is more busy than ever and no rest for the weary! I will keep my thoughts to myself from now on!

For those of you who like to look at my Trail Cam videos/slideshow...I have posted the one showing 2 fox kits on my blog, JUST FOR FUN. Have not seen any other babies...don't know why...should at least be some raccoon babies??

Hi,Wanda, JudyE, WV Dana, and Paula,
Well, we have a new electric meter. It took the guy less than 30 seconds to install it! Now they can read our meter with a cell phone! Imagine that! OK, water meter next. Where are the water meter guys?....MTBR....

Lynn, I sent your question to Carbonite. Will let you know what they say.

Hoda said...

Good Morning and Lynne 2 Good luck with the computer...

Hedgie Thanks you and I will log on to accept the FB request.

Might it not confuse the children about some whose gender is identified and the one whose gender is not? I think it might...The canadian Parents who choose to raise their kid genderless article...

Ms Bookworm said...

Golly, now that our electric is back on, I need to get busy doing transcription! Have to go reset the time on our sprinkler control first, though--before I forget to do it!
Need to put a new backup battery in it, while I'm at it.

That reminds me! We just recently bought a new smoke detector, and the battery that came with it lasts 10 YEARS! Wow! It's especially for installations that are so high on the wall you can hardly get to them--like houses with 18-foot ceilings, for example. Gonna be nice not to have to replace the battery every January
1st!

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Hoda!
You asked last night whether I was on Facebook. I am, but have not been there in MONTHS!!! Too time consuming, and if I have to choose between Facebook and our blog, our blog wins! :o] (Whoever the "Andy" was, it wasn't me.) Don't worry about it. My Hubby doesn't even HAVE a Facebook page, and he gets requests from people all the time!

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, I LOVE talking to you momsters, but gotta get BUSY. The Dean wants me to try to finish in 6 weeks what I thought I would have 12 weeks to do!
I'll check back in here at lunchtime. HAGD!

Ms Bookworm said...

Boy, that was FAST! Got a reply from Carbonite:

Hello Andrea and thank you for contacting Carbonite Customer Support.

You can add as many computers to your Carbonite account as you would like, provided that they are running a supported operating system (i.e. Windows, Mac, etc). You will need one Carbonite subscription for each computer you wish to protect.

Guess that answers our question! They do say that there is no limit on each computer--you can save however much you have on it. I only have one right now, so no problem for me. How many do you have, Lynn?

stronghunter said...

Hi,

Same here, I come here much more often that I go on FB, but I do like to go there to see what my children are up to.

Good afternoon.

Returned from the dentist. Tooth extracted, implant planted, cap replaced, Darth in a pissy mood, and I am pretending I live on a different planet. Still, appreciate the positive thoughts for Darth. They help offset my not-so-positive thoughts.

Lowreeda, so sorry you had a dental visit and Jo and that Andy's jubby has one to go to. However, I will make you all feel better. Today's bill (no medicare) was $2000.

Lolly, glad you and the family all escaped the really severe storms and damage. Would be nice to have insurance replace the roof.

Need to buy some denture cream to take care of the blueberry stairs. It looks quite interesting.lol

Margy, hugs for James the Wise.

Hi Megan! We miss you.

Lori & Kay, on doctor's order, I take a baby aspirin in the a.m. along with one anti-cholesterol then a full aspirin and a second cholesterol with dinner. Never heard more cholesterol manufactured at night. Can't think of the physiological mechanism for that.

Wanda, loved seeing kits plus the other critters. Is the black critter a cat?

Andy, so glad the water and electric were off only briefly.

Lynn2, sure hope the computer will not be really sick and you have it back and working soon.

Okay, tried to catch up. May try a panda nap next except I hate to miss the Anthony trial coverage.

Mema Jo said...

Love your Avatar, Lynne.

So I suppose my doc is really 'with it' as my pill for cholesterol is taken in the evening & my aspirin is in morning. So thankful we have Nurse
Lynn with us- she is on the ball.

Lynne2 said...

I'M BAAAAAACK!

Mema Jo said...

Hurray! Hurray! Lynne is back!

Lynne2 said...

AND, on my own computer!!

Good news is that without running the $70 diagnostic, the Geek says it appears that there are no virus or problems with hardware/software. He thinks it's an over heating issue. He cleaned for me, and the hope is that with being more careful about leaving it on for long periods of inactivity that I can keep that from happening.

Bad news is that CD driver is dead. Expensive to replace. However, I only ever use it to copy pictures to CDs to save them. SO, I got an external hard drive. I can add pictures right away, and even take it to other computers to show pictures to others. Pretty cool!

Judie said...

Hold on, Jo. I'm on my way for spaghetti and meatballs!

Lynne2 said...

Sorry Darth is being such a bear Judie :(

Lolly said...

Taking a breather! Patio is scrubbed and drying. Next I apply the sealer. Jack has already scrubbed the furniture. Wow! First time he has ever jumped in so soon.

Yes, we were lucky in this area. Pictures of tornadoes in the air but so far as I know none of them touched down. One picture of a tornado is over Laurel's school. Yikes! Funny story....when Michael woke up Zach to go down stairs, he very flatly stated "No"! Michael thought it funny. They put a beanbag in the closet for him to sleep on but did not think he slept any. Laurel and family plus large dog and irritated cat went into a small closet under the stairs. Michael and family(no pets) went into a closet about the size of a small bedroom. LOL

Lolly said...

Sorry, Judie, that dealing with Darth is not pleasant, but just remember how NICE he has been caring for you. Just go on pretending you are on another planet. LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Judie, that really doesn't sound like a bad price for all that Darth had done.

Lynne, glad to hear your computer isn't dead!!

hedgie said...

Wanda, I have NEVER seen a baby racoon here....:(

Judie, glad all went well for Darth.....but wondering why Darth can't get his dental work done at Andrews??? As in free as part of his retiree benefit for career service to our country?

Andy, I hope you keep lists of all that you have to do! I've always been a list-maker, and I don't do nearly as much as you do!!! So it sounds like for my two computers, I would need to buy two subscriptions at $59 ea.???

Lolly, tell Laurel congrats on her student's test scores!

Hoda, I agree about the nomn-gender child. Lots of questions there.

Judie said...

One of the changes in military retirement benefits over the years is not providing dental care for retirees or retiree dependents.

Yes, the cost was not bad for the extensive work done but it made me laugh at the $2000 versus $270 fee. I was just being a smarty-pants. No offense intended.

Maybe I'll tackle the last two shelves of books for the library. Have about 100 to give plus maybe 10-15 more.

Lynn2 what really great news about the computer. So glad it was not a serious problem so you have your computer and have some $ left.

Bye

stronghunter said...

Congratulations to Laurel on her students' test scores.

Mine were not as good this year on the writing test, which they took early in the semester, but the low scores correlate very much to the poor attendance. That test is given soon after we get the students, but their scores are associated with our names anyway.

We have a reading test at the end of the semester. I hope these scores will be better. We have been practicing, but some kids will cheat on this practice. Frustrating to have this happen.

They want a grade for the practice, then they cheat to get a good grade on an assignment that does not count very much but might help them do well on the thing that does matter.

Mom osprey up at BWO

hedgie said...

And right back down, too, Paula!

Lynne, so relieved about the computer!!! Whew-----dodged that bullet, at least for now!

Lolly, you are working TOO hard!

Judie, just seems very unfair!
VA is about the same----SIL can get the eye test annually for diabetes-related stuff, but NOT for visual acuity! And probably the only reason they even do that is because it was determined that his diabetes was a result of the pancreatitis that was a result of all of his complications from a service-related injury and resultant chronic condition.
They said they could set him up for dental visit, but it would take over a year---nothing said about if there was a fee involved.

hedgie said...

And....meds for his service-related stuff is free, but for things that aren't related he only has to be a $7 co-pay for. Not bad in my book!

paula eagleholic said...

Yea, Lynn, I couldn't determine anything at BWO

Lolly said...

It's a job that has to be done. I do not mind. It looks so nice when done. I like to do it in the fall too but didn't this past fall.

Back to work. If it wasn't 86 it would be a much more pleasant job. However, 86 is better than 96!!☺

Bye!

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
I'm back to check in again. Still no new water meter. Saw their truck across the street earlier, but guess they are going up the other side of the street first, then coming down our side starting at the other end.
Oh, well. They still have 4 hours to go.

Lynn, yup, if you have 2 computers, it would have to be $59 for each. I like that there's no limit to how much you can back up on each one, though.

Lynne2, I am SO glad you still have a computer! If overheating is a problem, you might want to check out a thingy like I have for my laptop. It is a flat, laptop-sized thing kinda like a tray, with 2 fans in it, and it connects to the laptop with a USB cord. The laptop sits on top of it. It turns on when the puter gets hot, and turns off when it's cool enough. Don't think it cost more than about $12.00. Between those 2 fans, and the one in the laptop itself, they work great!

Ms Bookworm said...

Judie,
Glad to hear that Darth made it through the dental appt. Sorry to hear that he's like a bear with a sore butt! Yes, by all means, let your mind take you to a parallel universe! Hope he feels better soon! Lots of prayers being said.

Well, I've managed to water all my patio plants, and they are grateful.
It's not too hot here today--supposed to be about 75. Lolly, glad it's not up in the 90s there yet! Bet your tile will be beautiful when dry!

Miss Emma was SUCH a good girl for me this morning! She has been biting at her nails the last few days, so I got her to sit in my lap, and I trimmed the front ones for her. (The back ones can wait until tomorrow. They are not as long as the front ones were. Didn't want to do TOO much and wear her out.) When she figured out what I was doing, she sat VERY still for me! I filed all her front nails, and now they are not only short, they are very smooth! She got busy and gave one of my arms a complete bath while I worked on her. Bless her heart! She's taking a panda nap right now.
Well, guess I'd better get busy with school work again. I'll check back in a little later.
