Hi all! Been playing catch up and watching the nest. You think that is Belle? Why is she in the nest???? Belle, what is going on?
Those were security lights from NCTC...her head was down by her feet, she's been doing that from time to time...you can see her on the still cam, too. Body facing more noonish.
Lynne, she's standing.
Worked in the yard all day and then we had dinner outside in the garden. Perfect night for dining out. ☺ Now I am sitting here with ice on my back and watching AI.

I have been on the phone talking with Laurel. We are going to Denton tomorrow afternoon. Jacob has a program. Laurel says he is very excited. He has to take sunglasses for something in the program. LOL
Friday we are going to Dallas. There is a reception for grandparents at Zach's school. We go to the reception, then chapel with the kids, then to his classroom. After that we are having lunch with Michael. Have not seen his new office on the
44th floor of a new building in downtown Dallas. Really looking forward to it. Michael got all new office furniture when they moved.
Did anyone notice that Criminal Minds was set in my area St Petersburg, Tampa, Ybor City all were mentioned really got my attention I still can't believe she is in the nest looks like she is waiting for someone Liberty Maybe We can only hope

Thanks, Judy, for the link about the rs hawks. I had read about it but had not seen that video. Glad they are not going to move the hawkettes!
For three years we had rs hawks nesting in our trees. A lot of our friends came out to look. We had no problem. Thank goodness! No dive bombing here!

I want to clear Dr. Bill (dentist) of any wrong-doing. Gene mistakenly handed me razor blades instead of the floss because they were both shaped the same. He got the blades to scrape glue off my rear view mirror. So there, Dr. Bill, your good name is still intact:)

Well daggone if she isn't laying in the nest now...it looked like she was for a minute or two...now she is facing the cam..can't tell if she's standing or laying down...kinda looks like standing
It is really strange. I have my laptop connected to an external monitor, have both screens where I can see them. The monitor is darker than the laptop and I can see her a lot better on it.
She's still just sitting there......

JudyE, the hawk story was on our news this evening. Saw wounds on one person's head, and the landowner putitng out signs. The RDH just sat up in the tree and watched!!!

Front porch, Lynn. Squirrels built a nest in the ceiling and rain came in from their gnawing at the wood and it rotted...literally falling down.
Can't get started until we are issued a building permit and you know they will (county) do that when they are good and ready!:(

And I look out my window and there are Bamboozle, Mabel and Momma. Love these deer! Babies are getting big.
Screen is pitch, but you can still see a small amout of her white head.

And one more thing -
I spoke with Tara this evening and told her I would request prayer for her Daddy again. As it turns out, he had an infection from a port, went into septic shock. They are going to try to get him back off the vent tomorrow. He is still really sick and not sure yet if he will pull through because the cancer is pretty bad, but Eaglet Momster prayers are totally awesome! ♥♥♥
We have a good sized order from Mountaineer Food Bank coming in tomorrow, that we have to load from the tractor trailer and then unload and put away at the church, so a good night's rest and sleep is necessary:)

Don't know, Jo...All I've seen is these two hanging out together...there isn't an egg cup...although they have brought fresh fluff...no molding of the cup...not much time spent on the nest...no bringing of fish by male...no confirmed HP...Strange courtship if an egg does appear.
I have no idea what to think! But, I would be in favor of an egg, but they did not even have an egg cup today, just flugg!
Maybe she was tired and just felt like staying in the nest...

Still very dark, but Belle's head can be picked up on live feed. Better pic on still cam. She appears to be sitting on or very near the original nest cup with head tucked.

I've got a lot to do today too. Suppose to send interim reports out today and need to write them up. It's a little hard for kindergarten. I don't have a "pre-made" form like the rest of the school so I have to create my own. Parents expect it because they are going to Yale next year! LOL
You young gals are all so busy. I love this retirement life ! About 10 today I'll pick up my granddog, bring him home for a day of play and walking and then we'll go to the H.S to pick up my grandson. They'll both be with me til' about 5pm. That's as serious as life gets around here most of the time !
That sounds so good Kay. I wish I could be home and play with my dogs all day. They would love it too! Summer is only 33 days away for me and we have spring break in there too so soon, very soon, I will be living the life again. Until next year!
I was up late last night and it was the saddest thing watching Belle just sit in the dark. It was def. Belle who was there last night, maybe she needed a night in the nest.
I don't think Truder has been here this early or spent the night in the nest.

It is sad. That's why I have such a hard time watching the other nests, like Decorah and Norfolk. I can hardly turn them on anymore. I'm really attached to Belle and Liberty just like everyone here.
I was wondering the same thing about the egg? Is it even possible? Would love to hear what our experts say.

Nothing would surprise me with this nest, Lori ! Someone posting last night said Belle can't be ready to lay an egg because there hasn't been any HP, or words to that effect. Most HP doesn't take place on camera, however ! Light changing for the better, I think I detect Belle's inverted V.

Belle remained in the nest after Truder left at 8:30 pm and it seems she has been there all night
sometimes moving around, sometimes still and tucked
you can read all that backwards but that gives you a head start
You can see things better at the moment on Still Cam but live feed should lighten up soon

Thanks Magpie. Been getting the gist of things with a quick read through. What does everyone think about this? It's odd behavior right?
We have actually, in the past with Liberty, seen a lot of the H-P in the nest and could "hear" it when it occurred in the branches above...
but no confirmed sightings of H-P since Liberty was part of the TEAM
seems very unusual...
as other things have been unusual..
Paula has pointed out there is no conspicuous "egg cup" in this nest right now, though a lot of fluff
but in the past, Belle has spent the night in the nest when it was close to egg-laying time.
but maybe she is tired and just wanted to lie in the nest, just very many questions....
I'll hold off on posts now while we are watching
It's all so interesting. Just think though without the camera we would never be learning so much about this beautiful bird. I am so intrigued.

Yes, I've witnessed HP here and in most of the nests I watch, pre-egg laying. The Hampton Rd. moderators have said it often takes many encounters before fertilization takes place and that most HP is out of camera view. Who knows what these two have been up to. I can't believe, based on what we've seen of Truder and his immature behavoir that he's ready for fatherhood and it's responsibilies !

Today's nest weather- Mostly sunny this morning...then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 60s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
God, I pray Belle doesn't leave the nest to get away from Truder.
Could be, Lori. It looked like she saw him coming and took off, because he landed within the next second.

Truder buried his nose in the fluff awhile, now just crouched still with his tail on the rails at the 12 ..showing his talons and looking around
Glad you guys were here posting because he is in the same spot that Belle was in when I left. I would have thought we had it wrong all along and that Truder had been the one sitting there.

I have figured out what is going on here. Eagles are magical creatures. And they have figured out how to supernaturally install cameras in each of our computers. They are watching US now. And just to make things more interesting for them, they are doing these crazy things to illicit more interesting reactions than the usual "ooooo" and "aaaahhhh" typically associated with nest watching at this time of year.
And they are laughing at us.
