For quite some time, I have followed this blog every day. I feel as though I know most of the posters and have continued to read and learn about the wonderful creatures. I cried, heartbroken, when I read (here first) about the Norfolk eagles. I see three nests on a regular basis. This morning I watched them remove the eaglets - again crying, so very sad for the dad. I just wanted to thank you, all of you, for what I've learned here.
I see from the postings that this is the best thing to do. It also sounds like dad knows his wife is gone, since he was apparently with her when it happened. I'm crying for this eagle, so sad that he's losing his whole family. In the end, it's best for everyone, I just wish there was a way to explain everything to him. :(
Thanks for the welcome - though I've been lurking, reading and learning for a really long time. I'm in Pittsburgh, not the best place to see an eagle. I do read this blog every day and keep focused on Belle or Decorah or Richmond nests. It's been quite an emotional experience for this newbie!
Yes, Lynne, too bad we can't hire an animal psychic to pass on all the important info! Then instead of dad spending time trying to figure out what's going on, he can possibly even be relieved of the stress of wondering how he's going to do it, get through his mourning quicker and start to mend. I sure hope he doesn't grieve the way I do, because he would be an absolute mess!
I liked the option of supplementing the nest with food. Why do you suppose they didn't opt for that choice? It would've allowed them to be raised as naturally as possible. Maybe just too much work?
Congowings: WVEC does plan on keeping the camera running at this time. Even when the camera is no longer streaming at the Garden, someone will be monitoring.
Sorry, Megan....guess we were cross-posting info! Didn't mean to step on your toes!!
turtledove....continuing to supply food would have been very intrusive as the eaglets got older and bigger. They may have gotten into fighting mode against the "intruder" bringing the food....plus cost involved of daily having the bucket truck and climber owuld be prohibitive. Well wonderful blogging everyone. I saw them remove the eaglets at Norfolk and again I am impressed with how they are so very clear as to process and options...they acted and now it is for all of us to trust that this is indeed the best option. It felt like checking in with family when I came back to our blog. Stay SAFE from the storms everyone and Happy Birthday to those with birthdays and how exciting to have a new birth...
I guess if Belle could hang out with Truder so soon after POJ's passing, it's possible Dad will recover quickly and move on with his life. I hope he finds a new lovely lady soon.

MVK: We all want what is best for the male. We have to remember that it would be a long time stress for him to raise and train all three eaglets on his own. Although this is very sad now and our hearts are breaking, he can now mourn and go on with his life, feeding himself, staying healthy so he can eventually begin searching for another mate.
I have to say that I really admire the newbies who have stuck around through all of this wrath of nature. I don't know if I would have the first year but it's too late for me now. This is my way of life.
Hello ladies, this has been a tough year :( I'm down to Decorah and White Rock eagles and am almost afraid to watch anymore!
I hope you are all well and enjoying Spring. We haven't gotten the storms too bad here in Charlotte and we're hoping this next batch isn't very bad either. I saw pictures of the earlier storms from back home (Fairfield, PA) and can't believe the flooding up that way.
Please stay safe and pay attention to any warnings!
BTW, my father is doing GREAT!! He's out of the hospital and breathing freely without oxygen. We never thought we'd see this day :)
My worker, Donald, is up on sunroom roof, cleaning off outside of house and getting all old wasp nests down, cleaning window and spraying insecticide. He put the wire mesh in the chimney so critters can't get down into the stove as has happened in the past (squirrel and bird).
Hedgie, I do not understand your question. I am not married and I am not Native American even though I have been mistaken for one...By birth I am Egyptian, by nationality I am Egyptian Canadian and I have lived in Northern Canada for thrty five years before I moved down south to British Columbia.I hope this answers your question. I have learnt a lot from Canada's North about wild life.
Thanks for the info I saw if on facebook the pictures of them taking all three out at once so sad but it will guarantee survival its for the best Poor daddy now
Well, some cities ban roosters all the time. They do not even get the 10 days. Do not think it will apply to humans anytime soon unless men start loud crowing!
Not sure Lolly, she has made some awkward attempts but when I've watched, I haven't seen the kind of nursing I am happy with. But the humans don't seem too worried yet so maybe she has.
Thank you all, it was certainly a gift for him to be able to have a second chance at life. We talked the other night and he is looking to find a way to "pay it forward" and find a job with a charity of some kind. Or even become an advocate/speaker for organ donation!
For some reason (not related to desert winds) it will rise from the 60's of yesterday to the 80's today in So Cal. Don't know why, guess I'll just enjoy it.
Congowings: I would say they should arrive at the Wildife Center of Virginia around 2:30-3:00pm - unless they didn't leave from the Garden immediately.
Congowings: In light of the events this year, the 2012 ‘Garden of Eagles’ calendar will be dedicated to the memory of the Norfolk Botanical Garden female - and will include photos not only of this year, but will include photos of her from past years. Viewers who would like to receive the informational e-mail on pre-ordering the 2012 'Garden of Eagles' Calendar can go to the Garden of Eagles website (located on the lower right hand side on WVEC website) and use the contact form to place your name on the mailing list. The photos for 2012 will include the 2011 nesting season - both in the nest, their growing up at the Wildlife Center of Virginia and their fledging. Information for pre-orders will go out next week - with calendar delivery the latter part of August. The calendar will not be printed until early August - to assure that photos of the fledglings will be included.
Just trying to pass along info someone may find helpful.
MVK: If I was not a local - I would check http://norfolkeagles.com/ often. This is the forum we use for photographs and information. Many of us frequent that site and post information there. The WCV also has a site they update frequently. CCB also provides information. With the popularity of this eagle family worldwide - I do not believe they will be forgotten.
Some more interesting info. Mixed feelings but I do understand the request.
"Congowings: Information regarding the female eagle's body: Source CCB: The remains of the female eagle are still at the Norfolk Airport until USFWS makes a decision about what to do with it. NBG has asked for the remains for a display and that process has been started.
1:25 MVK: We know he has been sighted flying over the nest and around the garden. The photographers will continue to frequent the garden and post photos of him.
Checking in for posts between severe wind and thunderstorms.
Thanks to Margy I got in on the last feeding Daddy Norfolk was able to give his little ones.
Picked up the dog and got back just in time to see Julien's hard hat come into view. As soon as the eaglets were in their carriers I turned the puter off due to a storm. So, I've enjoyed going back over all the commentary--well done and so helpful as we strive to understand it all.
I missed out on the birth of the foal---tried to get on once with no success and then had to shut down. I appreciate the play by play you guys provided in your posts !
WVDana, it's good to see you back and Christine the news about your father's recovery is thrilling !
LOL, Red---love the cake story !
Will be in and out, depending on weather. It's so wonderful that we have each other to get us through such sad times. It makes a huge difference. Last year when both Sooner Lake OK eaglets fell to their deaths and when the Hornby chick, Phoenix died so suddenly and mysteriously, I didn't have this support group. Thanks to all for being there !!!!
There is a good chance that Dad will think that his eaglets have fledged. I'm not sure exactly where I read this but it was said at another time, that the adults after removal of an eaglet, landed in the nest a few times, then continued on with their normal activities / days.

I don't have to look, but I do hope someone keeps looking and tells me he is eating the fish or at least takes it with him if he leaves. Bless his heart. So sad so very sad. But I was glad to see Belle eat after all the stuff she went though. It felt a littleebetter. Dad needs to eat.
Hi, Everyone, Never made it back here last night. Fell asleep with Emma in front of the TV. I'm glad they decided to take the eaglets to the place that takes such good care of Buddy. We can rest assured that they will all get the very best care, and Dad eagle will not be stressed trying to raise them. I DO feel sorry for the Dad, though. He must be reeling from the recent happenings.

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, BUDDY!!!!
Christine, I'm SO happy to hear such a good report about your father! PRAISE GOD!!!!!
Well, have to study, study, study for a big English test tonight. Will try to get back here before I go to school. If not, will be back as soon as I get home from school tonight.
WV Dana, still praying that you will feel better! Hang in there! ((HUGS))!
LOVE the foal cam!!! Takes me back a few years, too, Lori!
Western Maryland, W.Va. Eastern Panhandle under tornado watch
www.herald-mail.com Nearly the entire state of Maryland, eastern West Virginia and much of northern Virginia is under a tornado watch, the National Weather Service announced Wednesday afternoon.
Poor Dad.....surely he watched as the eaglets were removed....probably puzzling over the whole situation..."they brought them back last week"....may be a day or two before he realizes it won't happen this time. :(
Well Sharon I don't think they stop as long as we are alive but hopefully neither do the waves of joy. Somedays its hard to go there but I hear there is a new foal in this world.
OK, it appears that there is another male bluebird going in and out of the house out front, the ones the first pair decided not to use. He and the resident male were having words. Not sure if the female I saw was ours, or the mate of the new male. SO cool to think I may have TWO nests this year!
I think this statement says it best about the "grieving" of the dad....
Ed Clark, Wildlife Center of VA: I do not know what is going on with the male eagle, but suspect he'll hang around for a day or two before getting on with his life. He will almost certainly do just fine. Lament and self-pity are fortunately human traits not shared by most animals.
That's the sentiment I was looking for and couldn't word. I've no doubt he grieves in his eagle way, but no self pity.
I also like his comment about why they did not leave one chick. It would not have been fair to that one chick. Very open to predators and lots of time alone in the nest etc etc. Said much more in a ocupleof different places but I want to read and can't copy and paste today because laptop won't pull up the chat for me today :-(
Except for grocery in the rain "I needed that in a few ways" I have also been very unproductive. But Dex really doesn't care as long as i produce walks and food and rides and strolls. All have been done :-)
Another long day in the eagle world. I am going to head home soon. I am one tired teacher.
Lordy, how many of these kids am I gonna be able to get through English this year?
Called a mother the other day and she informed me that her daughter's attendance is no concern of mine. Wonder what would happen if she skipped my class and got kidnapped or something? She would be really quick to decide it was on my shoulders then. Geesh.
Awww they had Pizza and Cake . to celebrate buddy's birthday, but they had to eat on the run as the 3 eaglets preparation has overshadowed the party. Bless them all indeed. Buddy won't know or mind
I thought this was a good point...I was wondering why they would keep the eaglets until Aug or Sept.
Ed Clark, Wildlife Center of VA:
The question about why we are holding the eaglets until later in the summer is a good one. We will keep there here a longer than they would stay in their nest because even after leaving their nests, the parents feed them for another two to three months. With no parents, we need to provide that extended care in the large flight cage.
A statement liek this form Ed Clark is so soothing at times likes these
"I hope that once the babies are settled in, we can repeat this live chat, when things are a little less frantic around here. I literally walked out in the middle of a TV interview to carry the eaglets into the building, then was online with you folks before I could finish! You come first......well, right after the birds!
"The question about providing live animals to train the eaglets is a sensitive one, since many people find it hard to justify deliberately feeding one animal to another. However, we sometimes do put live fish into big water tanks to give the eaglets an awareness that sometimes they have to get wet to get fed. "
How to get co-operation, admiration and respect from others
" Ed Clark, Wildlife Center of VA: I think we are almost out of time and I know there are many unanswered questions. They were coming in faster than we could deal with them. However, if folks are interested, I would be happy to do this another time, or even on a regular basis until the babies are ready to be released. "
I would certainly never begrudge an eagle fish or rodents. Probably not even squirrel or rabbit. It's all part of the natural sequence of life for a raptor.
Hedgie, well yes but much of that is actually but not all road kill. Putting a live "trapped" animal into a cage isn't quite the same but it would sort of teach them what else to look for. Sensitive subject indeed. Once free they will see learn and steal from others.
Thanks, Red....reassuring. She works long hours....and I would never call her at work.
But, Glo, other predators---like big cats, wolves, etc., and even our dogs and cats don't do road kill if they can chase and grab......it's all part of the "circle of life".
I'm loving everything Ed Clark has to say and how much he has done since this saga began. Too bad we can't vote him into a federal office, life Fish and Wildlife, etc. But if one of you would like to run for President, you could have him appointed!
BREAKING NEWS: For the first time since Dr. Forbes began using the TOR:CON, we have given a "10" rating. It has been issued for Northern Alabama, which means that conditions can't be any more dangerous for you this evening.
WV Dana - most of the coverage starts Friday at 4am our time, and the wedding is at 6 or 6:15 (our time). I don't expect I'll have many listeners Friday morning! LOL!
Well Red, there's power in #'s, you know where 2 or more gather in his name... how about a prayer for safety during tornados in a few min. at 5? Everyone who can just stop and take a moment.
Hi everyone. What a harrowing couple of days and now we have 2 MT nests. So sad...
Thank you Glo, Megan, Lynn, Lynne, Lori, Wanda, Margie, Kay, Hoda and whomever else has been keeping us up to date with the drama at NBG.
This makes me wary of watching the Hbg falcon cam. I know there is a new female this year but you just never know. It's been a dreadful year for our eagle cams.
Lol Lolly, you have to get pretty before you get beautiful. I always dress nice to go to the grossery store. (Lynne, I like that name and I stole it from you).
Red, stay safe and a happy birthday to your Diane. Also, happy birthday to Jo's Susan and our Donna.
I just want to say: I am extremely thankful that the 3 Little NBG Rebels have been taken from the nest for their safety and well being. What I am grateful for mostly is the Peace of Mind. If they had remained even for one more night I would have been watching the darkened nest with a not so good infrared lighting & just guessing at what I was seeing. Thank you & Bless you VDGIF and NBG and VA Wildlife Center!
Jo I too liked what you said. I think those people involved at what they did today. Should be commended, in caring for wildlife and saving them. That Ed Clark is some guy of a gentleman. The others did a wonderful job and gave love and kindness to 3 eaglets. I'll miss them but it is nice knowing they will have a chance.
OK, regarding the Royal Wedding....call me a geek, but I will be there to watch! Coverage starts at 4am, but I'm not sure what time the ceremony is.
I want to see Diana's wonderful young son marry his love. She would be so proud! The Royal Family did Diana so wrong, but it sure changed the Monarchy forever!
As a newbie it has been a very hard year. I plan to stick around though, and see it through. I can't wait to see what happens in the future and I hope that Belle and Liberty reunite or at that Belle and Truder become a pair. My preference is certainly that Lib will return, but if not, I would like to see a successful hatch next year.
Lynne2 At the risk of sounding like a Monarchist, Diana, Princess of Wales did the Royal Family wrong too...So Did Sarah Fergusen. However I am so glad that the boys turned out so well and that is in good part due to the job done by The Royal Family as they were the ones who brought them up after her death...she new how to play and manipulate the media and she paid the price.
Hedgie as I said its not "all" road kill. And even though Ed Clark didn't say so , a moderator did mention mice catching is part of the skill they will teach before release too. Who knows what else. I want them to survive as much as anyone else, but a trapped animal isn't really a hunt but I guess it is a catching a moving target. And they will watch and they will steal from others who are catching live. I see it all the time at the dam. If you caught it come winter you almost never get to eat it without defending your catch first. Ed Clark did mention they usually release in an area I think he said Jamestown or along the Jamestown River CRS here :-) and there are lots of juvies in that area which is why they use it. They will learn from them too.
Gosh I wish the weather would settle down. I will take cold rain over 10 torcon tornado warnings etc. :-(
I will be taping the Royal Wedding.
Lets see am I caught up. Well oh the foal Has added such a nice highlight to such a low sort of day. I do hope they have a cam outside.

Fuzzle I think it is best they did take the eaglet. When we had 3 it was a "feeding frenzy" for Mom and Dad both.
Hi Pamela! We all learn together here....and boy have we had some unhappy lessons this year.
Thanks Megan it helped you being here ( :
Welcome, Pamela....good that you chimed in. Hearts are heavy for sure.....it's been a rough season.
Don't just lurk! We are a great bunch!
Where do you hail from?
T'dove, I've always said that about ALL animals, especially as I work in the vet field.....if only we could explain things to them.

Okay, Diane used her feminine wiles....but WHERE did you hide the cake????

UGH, never mind, she's down for a rest again.
she's up again, looks to be searching for the fountain of breakfats
I wouldn't think by supplementing that they meant climbing the tree and putting food in the nest, but laying out food for Dad to easily retrieve.

Exit 20 is Spring Mills
But between 16 and 20 there are no on or off ramps.
Thanks Hedgie that's what I figured.
OMG the foal just went potty!!! HILARIOUS!! All scrunched over, head up and lips drawn back!!!
oh don't judge me you POOP SHOOT watchers!!! LOL!!!!!!
Christine That is a BIG PRAISE about your Father.
GREAT NEWS CHRISTINE!
I'm going to try a nap before the next line of storms arrive.
See ya later.
Well I bet it feels better lol
aw, they have named the filly Lilly Grace!
Is it getting milk now it looks like it???
hard to tell Dana, from the angle, but I'm thinking she must be nursing now.
and mom seems much calmer now as well.
Christine - your family is blessed! The angels are watching
over all of you - especially Dad
Christine....wonderful update on your Dad....I had been wondering! How soon are you going to visit?? Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow!
My worker, Donald, is up on sunroom roof, cleaning off outside of house and getting all old wasp nests down, cleaning window and spraying insecticide. He put the wire mesh in the chimney so critters can't get down into the stove as has happened in the past (squirrel and bird).
I think that Lily Grace is going to be be frisky little gal!
She sure is exploring that stall.
BBILW
Congowings:
By law her body will be taken to the Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) Eagle Repository in CO.
(as I said last night)
Hoda, what tribe does your hubby's family descend from?
I'm tired - think I will try a nap
Be back on after nap. Going to shut down just in case a storm comes up.
Everyone take care.
Hedgie,
I do not understand your question.
Lynn, it is Kickingbird who is married to the Native American!
Just got home for lunch and did they take the babies I see the nest is empty and I have lots of post to go throught Yeiks
JudyE, the eaglets have been safely removed and are headed to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, where Buddy resides.
TORNADO WARNING HUNTSVILLE.....RED, GET IN THE BASEMENT
NASA confirms all systems go for Fri. afternoon launch of Endeavour on her final voyage.
Thanks for the info I saw if on facebook the pictures of them taking all three out at once so sad but it will guarantee survival its for the best Poor daddy now
Whoops, Lynne....my goof!! Kickngbird!!! What tribe??
Sorry, Hoda.....my mind wasn't in gear....too many things going on at one time!! I remember your fantastic life story!
Off to work BBL Love to all
Anyone up for some lightheartedness?
Check this out and then just shake your head....
Chicken HP
Friend who shared it says "what next? Regulate humans?"
Hedgie - I bet those roosters find a way to get into the chicken coops! lol Really a pathetic ordinance!
Taking a break - mainly to eat some lunch - the time has moved pretty fast this morning with all that has been going on!
Well, I am home and missed all the action. Thought it interesting the idea of leaving one eaglet in the nest. Wonder if they considered that at all?
Lynne, has the foal nursed. Need to get that cam up again.
Well, some cities ban roosters all the time. They do not even get the 10 days. Do not think it will apply to humans anytime soon unless men start loud crowing!
Watching the lady clean the hay out of the stall. LOL Saw her look down at the foal and then talk to Momma.
Some of you are under a TORNADO WATCH
Tornado Watch Map
Not sure Lolly, she has made some awkward attempts but when I've watched, I haven't seen the kind of nursing I am happy with. But the humans don't seem too worried yet so maybe she has.
Thank you all, it was certainly a gift for him to be able to have a second chance at life. We talked the other night and he is looking to find a way to "pay it forward" and find a job with a charity of some kind. Or even become an advocate/speaker for organ donation!

GOOD MORNING,
EVERYONE.

For some reason (not related to desert winds) it will rise from the 60's of yesterday to the 80's today in So Cal. Don't know why, guess I'll just enjoy it.

Just an FYI:
Congowings: I would say they should arrive at the Wildife Center of Virginia around 2:30-3:00pm - unless they didn't leave from the Garden immediately.
Where is the cam for the filly?
I always loved this calendar - great idea:

"Congowings:
Information regarding the female eagle's body: Source CCB: The remains of the female eagle are still at the Norfolk Airport until USFWS makes a decision about what to do with it. NBG has asked for the remains for a display and that process has been started.
The Dad has been seen at NBG:
Intersting from NBG Moderated Disscussion:
There is a good chance that Dad will think that his eaglets have fledged. I'm not sure exactly where I read this but it was said at another time, that the adults after removal of an eaglet, landed in the nest a few times, then continued on with their normal activities / days.
That's hard to watch with the way the keep switching the cameras. :\
FOAL CAM
Kay, I need fellow Early Birder so you stay safe.
Lynne - thanks for the fun with the foal watch today. You reminded me of a great time in my life.
WV Dana - Hello! So happy you are back!!!
Christine - Awesome news about your Dad. You are all blessed. I'm very happy for you, and him.
Tornado watch has been extended to include many more of us

Hope we hear from Red soon. REALLY bad down there....
I see you're watching the weather channel too Lynne :)
Aw, NBG Dad is back at the nest with a fish...
Sky here has been turning ugly shades of weird colors then the sun comes out again.
oh geez, so I HAD to look. That was a mistake....so heartbreaking.
That is heart breaking to see NBG Dad calling.
Thanks for the alert Paula!
yeah Lori....love to watch the weather. Not the destruction though.
Dad NBG is just standing there with the fish, looking around. I am sure he is wondering where his chicks are :(
They have him on close up now - he is gorgeous!
I'll bet he thinks they are out flying around...
Hmmmm, Glo....not sure how that will work....unless we have been given erroneous information in the past about Denver......stifle, Edith!
He's gotta be confused now. Hope he just eats the fish himself.
NBG Dad is eating now...bless his heart
Yep, Lynne....tornado watch until later this evening for all of the area!
Hi, Everyone,
Never made it back here last night.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DONA MAULEY, MRS. RED, AND JO'S SUSAN!!!...AND...
OK, gotta study. Later, gang! :o]
Stay safe, KayIM! Ours is apparently coming more from the SW than from your direction....so we may get a double whammy.
Thanks I so needed to read that. He will grieve however they do as Belle has and he will survive. So will his babies but he doesn't know that :-(
One comment made is that Dad could
just think his eaglets fledged.
I pray that is what he is thinking..
PiedmontN8ive:
I have no words. I am overwhelmed with sadness as I watch our male so understandably confused.
Western Maryland, W.Va. Eastern Panhandle under tornado watch
www.herald-mail.com
Nearly the entire state of Maryland, eastern West Virginia and much of northern Virginia is under a tornado watch, the National Weather Service announced Wednesday afternoon.
Poor Dad.....surely he watched as the eaglets were removed....probably puzzling over the whole situation..."they brought them back last week"....may be a day or two before he realizes it won't happen this time. :(
NBG DAD WENT POOF
Norfolk dad poof.
NBG Dad is gone
Red is still safe. I even got a nap in before this storm hit. We have tornados all around. I just keep ducking for cover.
COCK-A-DOODLE-DOOOOOOOO
I thought it was Red Rover Now I
know that it is Red Rooster lol
it appears I have some sort of Bluebird situation going on....going to investigate.
Glad to see you RED!!!
I would love to know how to stop these waves of heartbreak I keep getting. They suck.
TEAM LIBERTY!!!!
Well Sharon I don't think they stop as long as we are alive but hopefully neither do the waves of joy. Somedays its hard to go there but I hear there is a new foal in this world.
FOAL PEE SHOOT!!! LOL!
Has anyone been able to open Chrissy Beahan's Easter greetings. Facebook won't let me open mine.
OK, it appears that there is another male bluebird going in and out of the house out front, the ones the first pair decided not to use. He and the resident male were having words. Not sure if the female I saw was ours, or the mate of the new male. SO cool to think I may have TWO nests this year!
OH! And I saw a Black Swallowtail Butterfly outside!!
Ed Clark commenting on NBG site....
Oh that baby foal is the CUTEST thing to watch! I miss horses in my life.
We still have storms zooming through. Trying to dodge them.
Radar
Praying you and yours stay safe Red. Is Diane home with you?
She's working. She's always working. lol
aw, wish she was home...it's her birthday! and I'd be happy for her to be safe with you and the dogs at home. More prayers for a safe travel home.
Mr Clarke is very informative.
I think this statement says it best about the "grieving" of the dad....
Ed Clark, Wildlife Center of VA:
I do not know what is going on with the male eagle, but suspect he'll hang around for a day or two before getting on with his life.
Said much more in a ocupleof different places but I want to read and can't copy and paste today because laptop won't pull up the chat for me today :-(
aw, Lilly Grace is nursing!
I didn't watch the foal get born but i am enjoying her now.
yes Glo, a very good point....I hadn't thought of that.
Do you know that I have managed to be very unproductive today? LOL! At least I got a few things done!
Isn't she the BOMB Glo? I really wish they had a cam out in the pasture for when she goes out for the first time!
Except for grocery in the rain "I needed that in a few ways" I have also been very unproductive. But Dex really doesn't care as long as i produce walks and food and rides and strolls. All have been done :-)
Hi,
Another long day in the eagle world.
Geesh.
oh Shirley, GEEZ!
I am heading out with my dogs for a while....
Awww they had Pizza and Cake . to celebrate buddy's birthday, but they had to eat on the run as the 3 eaglets preparation has overshadowed the party. Bless them all indeed. Buddy won't know or mind
and if he did know, he would certainly understand!
BBL
Too bad Buddy won't know his siblings are coming.
Hedgie, was it you who had a friend that worked in Bankhead Forest? A tornado just hit Cullman, Al which is near there.
Red, no I couldn't open Chrissy's card, either. It said something about pfishing. I let her know. Maybe she didn't even post it!
Red, my cousin is the archaeology ranger at Bankhead. HOW close is Cullman???
What Ed Clark said makes perfect sense. They aren't ready to fend for themselves just because they fledge.
Cullman is kinda on the eastern edge of Bankhead forest.
Love this comment too. How cool:
"The question about providing live animals to train the eaglets is a sensitive one, since many people find it hard to justify deliberately feeding one animal to another. However, we sometimes do put live fish into big water tanks to give the eaglets an awareness that sometimes they have to get wet to get fed. "
Okay, Red.....what about Double Springs? Same location as the Forest? That is where her house is.
How to get co-operation, admiration and respect from others
"
Ed Clark, Wildlife Center of VA:
I think we are almost out of time and I know there are many unanswered questions.
Did nap then had checks to write.
I pray I can get to the post office tomorrow.
I'm reading some great comments by Ed Clark. Thanks all who are posting them on here.
Shirley that Mom would hold the "school responible" in that case. Geesh
Double Springs is straight west of Cullman. She is probably just fine.
Anyone know what time we will get to see Kate getting married?
I think it starts at 4 am. Not sure if that is the coverage, the procession, or the actual ceremony. Probably the coverage.
Dana I have been to busy with all these bird happenings... I'll let you know if I find out on my TV guide.
RED:
BREAKING NEWS: For the first time since Dr. Forbes began using the TOR:CON, we have given a "10" rating. It has been issued for Northern Alabama, which means that conditions can't be any more dangerous for you this evening.
WV Dana - most of the coverage starts Friday at 4am our time, and the wedding is at 6 or 6:15 (our time).
I don't expect I'll have many listeners Friday morning! LOL!
Lily Grace is feeding......
I agree Lynne - I want to see her on her first trip out to pasture...
Dana, good to "see" you back. Hope you're well.
Red is that your area?
Well said Jo. I'd like to ditto that for all who put out the amazing effort today to help the 3 Rascals. Virginia you have it together!
My avatar doesn't show up very well. It is a chickmuck at some flowers tee hee
Amen - Thanks for suggesting that
prayer Lori.
Yes, thats my area and I'm keeping my eyes and ears open. They just keep coming and coming.

Geez Red, hope Diane gets home soon and safe. Please keep in touch with us! We are going to worty your know.
Diann, feel free to use my GROSSery word! LOL!
HOLY MOTHER OF MOSES....a TOR-CON 10????? OMG....I missed the 5pm prayer, but I'm a praying....
Those Rebels will survive and in my heart and mind, in doing so, they will honor the memory of Paddy O'Joy
Hey Jo, the foal cam page says "Cam 1"....maybe the DO have an outside cam!!
Going to get Alexis and go to dinner. Hoping for a New Thread
by the time I return.....
BBL
What is the 5pm prayer about please?
We are going to worty your know.............
I'm not going to WORTY
New word for our dictionary! lol
Updated info:
Eagles arrival
Jo, I'm so glad you aren't going to WORTY. But what does that mean?
I saw the prettiest pale lavender colored butterfly when I was out with Horrible and Rotten....need to go look it up and see what it is!
I would give an arm and a leg to work there.
human activity at Foal Cam
As a newbie it has been a very hard year. I plan to stick around though, and see it through. I can't wait to see what happens in the future and I hope that Belle and Liberty reunite or at that Belle and Truder become a pair. My preference is certainly that Lib will return, but if not, I would like to see a successful hatch next year.
Shirley.....are you home safe????!!!! Head for the basement!
LOL, Lynne....Jo was ribbing you about YOUR typo of WORTY!!!!!
OMG is that near Shirley?
I feel so bad for that male eagle. He lost his mate and his offspring in one day!
For those who want to hear about the Norfolk eaglets.
Norfolk Eaglets
oh, nice...another TYPO. LOL!
now we can WORTY about Shirley.....I sure hope she is home safe by now.
Lynn, you could volunteer there...but it's probably a long commute!
