Morning, all.

Been up since 4:50, heard our town warning system go off, been watching the news.

Heavy rain here again...

Kay said...

Good Morning Lori ! Wow, what a night it's been for the greater D.C. area and the tornado watch is still on. :( I've just listened to a few minutes of my favorite D.C. radio duo, but haved turned it down now. I'm not good at multi-tasking, but am in awe of your ability to juggle between work and Early Birding, or the SSCC ! Thanks to Lynn I can now put a voice with your lovely face !!!!!

Bright n' sunny looking at the nest, no color yet. Wonder how Belle and Truder are getting along this morning. They were not showing signs of compatibility yesterday evening, huh JudyE !

Kay said...

Yikes, Paula ! Can you delay going to work until the threat is over ?

magpie said...

OK...everyone okay ???
Whew! What a weather system !

paula eagleholic said...

Really brightened up here the last couple of minutes...I have a pair of cardinals on the deck feeding each other ♥

magpie said...

upstairs neighbors bless their hearts...scared to death to be on the top floor, came bang bang banging on the door around 0400 -
slept on the couch here 'til ust a little while ago

but the little "bowling ball" was somewhere else overnight

Kay said...

Some clunking going on near the cam/mike. May be Truder ?

paula eagleholic said...

Rain has lightened up, clouds are moving fast

Guess I'll make some coffee!

magpie said...

I think hear a little clunk clunk at the cam...wonder if it is the wind or an eagle or two

Okay Paula..see you made it through ok
love the cardinals event

Kay said...

Margy, how sweet you are to take the Bowlers in for the night !

floralgirl said...

wow- what a night of storms.

magpie said...

we got heavy rain, thunder lightening and wind...
I was up watching the weather alerts with my neighbors 'til the worst was over

short-changed on sleep for sure for the day

magpie said...

thanks Kay..it was a a blessing for them and me both....

Megan....your farm okay?
maybe not safe to go look yet...
skies still very angry looking

floralgirl said...

Leesburg, Poolesville, Rock Hall, VA has a storm headed at them that a has tornado possibility. Funnel cloud reported in Warrenton from this line.

magpie said...

finally read back thru all the posts before bed last night, Red had a running (scary) commentary for much of the day....sure want to see him on here SOON!

I was worried about Lori traveling in this...Lori! see you made it okay, and yes, you WILL be busy at work !

floralgirl said...

Think we're okay here, not out of the woods yet. But we are in a beak right now. The next immediate line of storms looks like it may miss us.

magpie said...

going to slip away and check Norfolk cam and a few others
be back soon

I have a sister in Roanoke trying to travel today......hope she is okay

and family and JUDIE in Annandale Va.....
people everywhere, many of our loved ones affected by this - including flooding

prayers, and lots of them,...on the wing

remember to hit the go arrow on your cam...I just did

magpie said...

Okay Floralgirl !
Know it is your livelihood on the line with weather....

Kay said...

Happy to hear there will be a Hornby hatch today ! One of my favorite nests to watch.

floralgirl said...

Geez, we are in a break, not a beak. Lack of sleep will surely be my downfall today. Hope everyone made it through the night okay. Guess we are all anxious to hear from Red.

Kay said...

LOL Megan, we knew what you meant, but you do have birds on your mind, too ! Like you, I'm anxious to know how Mr. and Mrs. Red are, hope he reports in early today !

magpie said...

Oh dear..
cam offline at Norfolk, but you must see what they have there...
a soaring eagle and the words
"Remembering our Proud Eagle..."

Lori O. said...

I hope it's over! Kay, now you know why sometimes I can't manage to even glance at the nest. What a nutso morning!

Kay said...

Eagle arrives

magpie said...

I was wondering about "beak" too but thought it might be a new Megan word for a weather situation ....☺

paula eagleholic said...

Truder in the nest from the 5...brought some grass

floralgirl said...

Well I know the mockingbird survived the storm, cause he will not shut up.

Truder is in the nest!

DanaMo said...

Got to the Cafe just in time to see Truder fly in.

Kay said...

Truder

magpie said...

Well Truder looks okay
didn't see the fly in

DanaMo said...

Rain stopped briefly but it's coming down again in Hagerstown. Megan, what's it doing in Shepherdstown?

magpie said...

wow lots of white on his shoulders
he looks right soggy !

Kay said...

poof

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks, Margy, lovely picture there by James Deal. He was at the WCV yesterday and took a lot of pictures of the eaglets and Buddy enjoying a fish for his birthday. Those pics are posted on FB.

Truder looking especially ratty this morning from the rain.

Poofed from the 5 to the right

DanaMo said...

Truder gone!

floralgirl said...

Funnel cloud reported near 66 by a cop, bad storm near Middleburg, headed towards Leesburg, Ashburn, VA

Kay said...

That was quick, now more clanks at camera---perhaps he went back there to perch again.

floralgirl said...

A little light rain across the river, Shepherdstown might be getting it, stopped here right now.

Kay said...

Hey DanaMO ! Are the cabinets dry ?

Kay said...

Glorious color arrives !

paula eagleholic said...

color on the cam

magpie said...

we have Momster Diane in Ashburn

thanks Paula...hope to be able to see pictures of yesterday and today from WVC and NBG...sometime...

WOW look at all the green at NCTC

paula eagleholic said...

Megan, that must be that last cell that was further south just a little while ago...moving quickly

floralgirl said...

Boy, that is a bright green on the cam! Gonna walk outside and check on some of the gardens.

DanaMo said...

Color on...Good morning Megan, Kay, Lori, Paula and Margie.

Safe travels to those who have to go out on the road.

There are actually 2 schools in the VA area that are either delayed or closed. WOW.

floralgirl said...

Yes, it is, Paula. They are saying Loudoun county and Faquier county, VA are getting hit hard.

paula eagleholic said...

Nice to hear birds chirping on the cam ☺

magpie said...

birdie singing at the nest....
think Robin - cardinal, or maybe mockingbird !

magpie said...

good to see you DanaMo-
was watching for you !

DanaMo said...

Kay-the cabinets are kicking my butt! I am so tired and sore from bending, reaching, painting etc...I'm almost looking forward to going back to school next week. I just hope I will be finished. One half of the kitchen is finished including new hardware. Monte (my hubby) just needs to reinstall all of them today. I didn't do much yesterday except empty the other half of the kitchen. The process starts over now on this side.

DanaMo said...

Poolsville has spinning winds, yikes Looks like we are out of it except for rain. Frederick co still under warning.

Kay said...

Dana, those cabinets are going to look so nice, but you may need a trip to a Day Spa or chiropratctor before it's over !

Kay said...

ChiropraCtor, that is !

Going into LM for a while.

Hope the Guardian Angels are out in full force and will keep you all safe ! ♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!!

floralgirl said...

Yes, another batch of heavy rain passing over here and at the nest.

Judie said...

Good morning!

Lynn, maybe Sissy would approve of using Sissy2 for the blog?

Was trying to get caught up before I head for therapy and then begin the plagiarism nightmare. BUT, sky is turning very dark again and wind is getting quite strong.

So sorry for all the death and destruction but so glad not for our blog family.

Hornby cam is down also.

paula eagleholic said...

The CRC eaglet has been named Kinsey, and was moved to the hack tower along with two other orphaned eaglets...OK, now I know who Christine was talking about!

paula eagleholic said...

paula eagleholic said...

Sure hope our Steve survived the storms as well...heard there were trees down in his area as well.

glo said...

Gosh so many of you have been up most of the night. Poor Megan haS A BIRDBEAK or is there a break in her beak, well either way I am so sorry the night has been so long and difficult.

And yess I see Margy took in bowlers overnight who didn't bring their ball.

I am amazed that with all this blogging there is no plagiarism on the blog. No check in from Red either. I am sure power is out in lots of places. We need check ins from all Momsters and Dadsters during this severe weather season once we know a storm threat has happened in your area. We already have a pile of missing things and don't want to lose you among the garland and crock pot lids. Gosh please listen take cover if needed and be safe.

DanaMo said...

Oh Judie, plagiarism nightmare? What grade do you teach? Lots of papers? There was just an article in Readers Digest about people who are paid to write papers. It was a very interesting article and to me, quite shocking. It seems that there is an ABUNDANCE of it. I thought that it was there was a small minority doing it, but there are many getting advanced degrees who have "ghost writers". Amazing and disheartening.

glo said...

OK checking in to see who has blogged in last 20 mins or so. :-( hmmmm OK I am off to coffee and dogtreats. I will check in when I get back. I hope you are all safely trying to sleep driving to work or maybe having some breakfast. Power outages may be an issue. Take Care and Be Safe indeed.

Lynne2 said...

Good Morning.....

poor nigh of sleep here as was for some others of you. Now they have extended the dang tornado watch til 3pm. Just had a warning up where I work.

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

I am sitting at my desk at work. Last night was not fun, but we did not have any major events and I managed to sleep, although the alarm went off one last time as I laid my head on the pillow. Just a tornado watch. Oh, well just turn off the alarm and go to sleep. No big deal.

Luna almost spent the night outdoors. She was sleeping happily on the driveway and had to be dragged in.

Prayers for all of those in the path of a storm.

Lori O. said...

I sure wish RED would check in.

Here's the latest:

Emergency agencies: Alabama death toll jumps to 128 after storms, Miss. up to 32

The death toll from a system of

South has risen to 193 people total as Virginia and Tennessee officials
raised their counts for each state.
Tennessee's storm fatalities toll has gone up to 14 deaths with
the addition of eight people killed in that state.
Virginia's death increased from one to eight with officials
saying seven more were killed when a possible tornado hit a truck

Dana, I teach a course on the psychology of violent crime/offenders at George Washington Univ. Sadly, buying papers and other assignments is the norm rather than the exception. Taking the easy way out is now an entrenched part of the culture and wealthy students have the funds.

Hey, Glo. I know all the people trying to sleep while driving to work appreciate your support. lol Hope you and Dex have a good day.

CONGRATULATIONS SHIRLEY!

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!

stronghunter said...

Just listened to Lori on the radio via my computer. Not sure I am supposed to do that.

They once said it took too much bandwidth. I would not want to knock down the system, but that is usually only a problem during testing days, I think.

It is raining like crazy here right now.

stronghunter said...

Hi Lori!!

stronghunter said...

Hi Judie,

I tried to impress my students by telling them all about the software out there for profs to catch those who plagiarize. I hope it works. It has gotten really ugly out there.

stronghunter said...

Lori, many years ago, I worked in broadcasting for awhile. I was at Channel 6 in Columbus, Ohio, working in promotion. It was interesting.

glo said...

LOL ok so I left out a ; hmmm Thats why we need Sharon to point those things out to me. Come on Sharon. Sign in on the blog. Trying to sleep; driving to work and atleast a few of you have checked in. I do not like this spring at all. I really wish no one was in the shower while its lightning or driving to work. Anyway time for breakfast here. I wore my winter coat over for coffee and dog treats and we have potential frost in our forecast while you all turn on your air conditioners. No one its storming like crazy!!!

stronghunter said...

One of the first things I did was to write a script for Wayne Newton. I also got to meet Jessie Owens.

Sorry, I stuttered.

stronghunter said...

Judie, you know if you don't learn to write well, you can't get a lucrative job writing papers for the others who want to buy them. Somebody has to write the papers. So is there going to be a market for those who want to buy papers so they can sell them to others for resale??

stronghunter said...

Gotta go. Time for the bell.

GLO, I don't like this SPRING either! It is just like last Spring and the one before that. Rainy, wet, stormy, can't get into the garden to plant veggies and when it finally dries out, the temps are unbearable. Worked in GG's garden yesterday and sweated so badly, I finally had to quit. We didn manage to get in a bed of spinach. I hope it's not too late...it bolts when it is so hot.

Costume Lady said...

Have we heard from Red? Didn't see any comment from him. Sent him an email and asked him to check in with us.

Now here is some good news from Wildlife Center of virginia from their page already made for the eaglets

"A preliminary morning report: the eaglets are doing well. Wildlife rehabilitator Suzy Doell provided them with a large fish last night — most of it was chopped into smaller pieces, though she also left a large hunk of fish to see how well they’re tearing on their own. As of this morning: all fish was eaten! More reports to come after the daily “morning rounds” with the veterinary team."

I will post the link for that next for those who need it. I just wanted to share this as soon as I saw it.

stronghunter said...

I expect there are power issues where

OMG, 7 dead in Huntsville? UGH.

It's so creepy here, weird clouds, wind, then no wind...faint thunder.

Two tornado warnings up near work already this morning.

glo said...

Well ShirleyConsidering the nights sleep many of you didn't get and the forecast I can understand the lower attendance today. Enjoy sorting through and packing up for retirement

Lynne2 said...

Lori, day 3 of your diet....are you on any specific diet or just "dieting"?

Lolly said...

Good morning! Wow, there is really a lot of rough weather out there! Glad you all have been checking in and now waiting to hear from Red.

It is beautiful here, but unusually cool this morn. It was 47! The sun is shining and going up into the 70's. Going out to mow soon. Possibility of rain does not return until Sunday.

Glo, laughed out loud at your mention of plagiarism on the blog. Thought about copying your post and posting it myself. LOL Wonder if anyone would have caught it?

Margy, you have obviously impressed your neighbors enough, that they felt comfortable to come knocking on your door. Good for you! Wonder where the bowling ball was?

stronghunter said...

I have gotten a heck of a lot more relaxed the past few days. Kids say, "Let us write on our papers. I say 'okay.'" Actually, they are accomplishing something, and I have been able to sit down and make suggestions.

Shirley, I am so excited for you! Turning in the paper work must have been a real thrill! I think I held on to them thinking I could us materials with the grandboys. I have not!

LOL Lolly plagiarism. Thats funny. I may have caught you and I think I know at least one other who would eventually have caught you. I am subscribed to NBG emails...they just sent out an email about the female..if you are subscribed, don't panic when you see the subject line that says "Adult eagle dies..." It's about the female.

Well, Margy, then I guess the guy may have to be your new best friend!!! He can wake up the dinosaur!

Talked to Suz....she is fine. She did NOT go to work. Weather was so bad when it was time for her to leave home that she took a leave day!

Ugh----duct tape didn't stick where it was supposed to, huh???

With all the hoopla about the royal wedding, I just remembered that on the day that Di and Chas got married, I put a 9 y.o. Carolyn on a plane by herself to fly to FL to spend time with my sister. Scary day for a mom! She was so excited...and I wasn't!!

Okay...I called Red....it went straight to voicemail without even ringing.....which leads me to believe that maybe phone lines are down. I left a message....but hard to tell how long it will be before he gets it.

Paula -
do you remember the name of the person you said has pics and video of the 3 eaglets on his FB page. Dale something?

Lori O. said...

Lynn, so glad someone has tried getting ahold of Red. Thank you.
How close is he to Univ of Alabama/Tuscaloosa?

Norfolk/Hampton Rds. under tornado watch until 3......hope the Gardens and the papa are prepared for nasty weather.

hedgie said...

Lori, I don't THINK that Tuscaloosa is very close to Huntsville. Don't have a map up and was zeroed in on his and my cuz's area yesterday.

Don't think the guy's name was Dale....I'll find the link for the pics.

Lori, the name is James Deal...he posted them on the WCV page as well.

Think someone mentioned this already, but not going back to look:

Eagle Cam Update: The video feed from Norfolk Botanical Garden is over for the season. The moderated blog has not been discontinued but the moderators are taking a well deserved breather after a difficult two days. We are checking into the possibility of setting up another video feed and hope to have more information about that soon. Thank you for your continued interest in our eagles.

Hi, Everyone. Thought I'd pop on since heavy rain/wind stopped, at least temporarily. Had news on & they said Frederick Co., MD was hit hardest this AM.Paula is one near there & maybe Lynne2. Hope everyone ok. Storm will be moving mostly south of hear---VA. Batten down the hatches, Shirley!
I was suprised to see on TV that yesterday aropund 6:45PM, a tornado was spotted at Andrews AFB!,about 4 miles from here & I was sitting in car waiting for rain to slow enough so I could bolt in the house!

Margy, you are truly generous, but be careful w/sort of strangers. Of course, you have good connections w/911!! You might get payback help for the dinosaur!

Hedgie-I posted pictures in my DanaMo pics blog. Check them out. Before and after.

I'm relatively satisfied with the results. I'm no professional so I can see where I missed spots and such which doesn't make me happy, but overall I think it will be a huge improvement and we are having the counter tops done by Lowe's so that will complete the look.
