Thursday

Was out yesterday.

We have additional news that could relate to our missing resident male.  A few days ago, our land manager found the remains of a bald eagle near the waste water treatment  plant.  The bird was not in good shape, so performing a post-mortem on it is not really possible.  The degree of decomposition and proximity to the nest indicates to us that there is a good chance that this is our missing bird.

We will never know for sure though.

Wanted to let you folks know about this as soon as I could.  It has been a rough season for bald eagles around the Region.

Everybody please take care.

New thread.

hedgie, no TV by choice, I find it very overwhelming and I am not sure that it did not use to cause me to get into anxiety as to the state of the world. I am a news addict and I found that I was increasingly unable to settle with all the watching...

Taxes were not really complicated Stronghunter, I just leave them to the last minute and I save all my receipts all year long and it is a matter of finding out about what deductions I can claim. The Canadian Government wants to keep us healthy so they allow for massage therapy as a deduction, also dental is a deduction so I claimed both and did not have to pay in as much as I thought...It is the same like we have something here called HST, Harmonized Sales Tax, and they tax junk food and sugars and it is possible to do my groceries without paying them the tax if I shop carefully...as a nation we are getting very unhealthy and they are finding ways to encourage us to rethink our bad habits.

hedgie said...

Please say a special prayer for my former dog-sitter and friend, Sandi, who has tried so hard for so long to have a baby.....lots of tests, surgeries, drugs....and today was her big day.....embryos now in her!!!!

stronghunter said...

China Dynasty--sounds familiar, Kay, but it has been a long time.

Hoda said...

Oh Hegie what GREAT news...may she and her Baby, also the dad, know God's Grace and Sustenance. Prayers go out her way.

stronghunter said...

We sometimes went to the Kahiki. It looks like it has been bulldozed.

stronghunter said...

Prayers for Sandi, Lynn.

stronghunter said...

The Kahiki was an experience; it had a rain forest with little birds and thunderstorms.

Prayers for Sandi Please keep us up to date Hedgie There is no home for a child like one where a couple works so very very hard to add a baby to their family. God's Blessing on this family is my prayer indeed.

Prayers for Sandi. May there be a successful pregnancy.

Turning in early again. Will set the night light for 11:00pm. Restful sleep for all.

Lolly said...

Yes, prayers for Sandi!!! How exciting for her and may all go well. Keep us posted and remind us to keep her is prayers, long months ahead!

Kay said...

Lynn, will certainly add Sandy and hubby to the prayer list. How excited they must be at the prospect of realizing a dream !

Shirley, yes, we went to the Kahiki occasionally back in the 60's and 70's, it wasn't just dining out, it was an experience ! My favorite eatery out that way was The Top Steakhouse. It's still there and still gets rave reviews, but I've not been out there since moving back.

Hoda, I hear ya on the TV decision. I'm a news junkie, too ! In the last couple of years of my husbands life the TV was on for hours at a time. When he died, I decided I was tired of TV and wanted to pursue so many other things. I didn't go cold turkey, but gave up cable. I just get 4 major networks and PBS and have reduced my viewing hours drastically. There are days when it isn't even turned on at all. It's very freeing, I think.

Hampton Roads based Native American Drum Group, Four Rivers Drum, will play near the base of the Bald Eagles Nest in the Matson Garden Sunday, May 1st at 10:30am at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. It is open to the public, included with Garden admission. All are welcome at this time of remembrance.

Oh, Lynn, what a wonderful tribute that memorial service at NBG will be ! Wish we could all be there.

Well, no Belle and Truder this evening. Perhaps they'll show up at the SSCC in the morning. Hope so. I realize we won't see them every day as time goes on, but it's been comforting to at least see Belle frequently during this last month or so.

Shutting down and heading for bed with my book. Thinking positive thoughts and saying prayers for everyone on our request list as well as the hundreds of families so devastated by the storms.

Thanks for momster prayers for Sandi!!!

I am a news junkie, too, Hoda and Kay. That's the journalist in me.

Goodnight to those turning in. Wonder if we'll feel any different when we wake tomorrow? Relief? More sadness? Just praying that we don't get anymore bad or sad news.

glo said...

OK Thanks for shuttle info. whether or not :-)

Lolly said...

Wow! Double Wow! The memorial service at NBG is fantastic. Would give anything to be there!

Jack and I went to NBG when Buddy was just an egg. We had just enough time before catching our plane to go, find the nest, see the eagles, take a few pictures and then we had to leave.

stronghunter said...

Time for me to head upstairs. I will see you tomorrow.

Good night and God bless to everyone. May tomorrow be a better day.

Scott said...

How a bout a little bit of good news.

I got home from work today and had a hour or so of beautiful daylight so I decided to visit my local nest to see how the baby was doing. I trekked out and low and behold there are now 2 babies!!!..Both looked great and momma was sitting on the side of the nest. Didn't get any pics that I liked cause the light was low but will get some this weekend....

NatureNut said...

Gonna try to shut down early, get some zzzz's before UK Wedding. They said Catherine will leave hotel at 10:51AM their time for West. Abbey. That means we could catch it at 5:51 AM EDT. Think I'll set my alarm for 5:45! Fat chance, but I'll try!

Soothing Pleasant Sleep to all & heartfelt prayers for all the tornado victims & God Bless our animals ;>)

If I get the puppy, I have decided to rename her Liesl. Have always loved that name since the first time I saw Sound of Music....it's still 2 syllables with an "s" sound....so she should adjust to it quickly.

Lynne2 said...

good evening all.

Very happy to know that Red has checked in and that they are safe and sound!

Hoda, so cool you don't have TV! And Kay for limiting it! I don't think I could live without the nature channel and the weather channel! But I rarely watch the news anymore.

I forgot to mention earlier that I posted (FINALLY) the pics of our Blue Heron Nest Hike.

Lynne2 said...

Lynn, I love the name Liesl for the puppy!

paula eagleholic said...

Sorry I haven't been on here tonight, I am just having a really hard time with this.

(((Hugs to all ♥)))

hedgie said...

Understand, Paula. (((HUGS))) to you from me.

hedgie said...

Lynne, forgot to tell you....on deadliest Catch, there is a guy on one of the boats whose last name is Soper! Ask Steve if he has any crabbers in the family.

Hoda said...

Paula, Hang in there and (((((HUGS))))) to you and all the Eagles you know so well.

Lynne2 said...

We understand Paula.

Half of me is NOT accepting this. Especially after reading that the decomp is so much so that a beak and hallux can't even be measured. It's only been just over a month since Lib was seen...I can't imagine decomposition that much that fast. IF Lib doesn't return in late fall, then I may accept it. But I cannot even think of a memorial, or a permanent name for Truder.

Lynne2 said...

Lynn, when Steve first saw that, he called his father to ask him if that was possible, but it isn't to his knowledge. But it surely isn't the most common of names!

Lynne2 said...

Lynn, those salamanders come out (so I've read) on the first warm nights of spring by the HUNDREDS, walk to a vernal pool where they will stay for a couple of days to mate, lay their eggs, and then they go back to their "homes" under leaves, logs, moss, etc. AND, they can drop their tails like Geckos and grow them back, and even grow back limbs!

hedgie said...

I have heard that, Lynne. Had one as a pet once in terrarium with Freddie the toad...had her for about 6 years. It was hysterical watching the two of them play tug-of-war with worms, etc. But they can and do bite!!!

Lynne2 said...

that's too funny! This is the same kind of salamander we have at Irvine. No one ever sees her/him because she is always under her moss or her log. Very docile little creature.

Do you have toads yet?

Lynne2 said...

Lolly, you definitely saw a rookery! Not a conventional one, but just goes to show you how the creatures of nature will make things work for them when they have to!

Lolly said...

Love you pictures, Lynne!

Lynn, that is a great name for the pup. When are you going to know if you get her or not?

(((Hugs))) Paula!

Lynne2 said...

Well, I need to get a shower, and some sleep. I have a wedding to attend in the morning! Hoping Chrissy pops on here tomorrow!

My head is just bouncing from all that has happened, with the loss of Jason, Mother NBG, the deceased eagle at NCTC, the horrific weather death and destruction.......just so glad we all have each other here!

glo said...

Took me all evening to find where I had saved this photo BUT I needed to see it on this BLOG. I have never loved not will I ever love any eagles more than these 2. Its just how it is. Good night dear friends. You will rest so much more soundly and safely tonight and that is good.

Lolly said...

I see the heron nests every time I drive into town. They are definitly sitting on eggs or have babies as they are always there.

Lynne2 said...

and Steve has a Dr appointment tomorrow. He's got a large lump on the outside of his elbow and a tremendous amount of pain down his forearm and up to his shoulder. I'm sure it's from picking up windshields all day.....right?

Lynne2 said...

wow Lolly, maybe you can get some baby pictures!

Lynne2 said...

Glad you found it Glo!

Capt. Gene had a suggestion as to what to name our new eagle. Because BELLE is a southern name and lady, he suggested Colonel...as in Sanders:)
Belle and the Colonel, it's a thought.

Lynne2 said...

Hey, I like that Wanda! If it comes to that, that's a good one!

hedgie said...

I should have caught that guys name before this year! But maybe they just never mentioned or showed it in writing before.

Costume Lady said...

I'm calling it a day. I may or may not be up with the early birds.....if I happen to wake up, okay....but not setting an alarm for it!

Prayers for all our hearts....and for everyone in need.

Lynne2 said...

do they give him a steroid shot?

I'm hoping to get some better baby bluebird pics for GG once they hatch!

hedgie said...

P.S. No, Lynne, haven't seen toads or Myrtle yet.

Lolly, 1-2 weeks was what the application acknoledgement said....:( TY! I like the name, too!

Lynne, is it kind of soft and mushy? If so, it's probably a ruptured bursal sac....usually need to be drained and then antibiotics. May or may not be considered WC....usually up to Dr., at least here....not sure about MD.

Bye!

Lolly said...

News is over. Heading to the shower.

Really scary about that tornado. Makes me want to go out and dig a cellar. No place anywhere close to us to go. Lay low in a closet is all we can do and a tornado like that will take you out! And here we live in tornado alley!

I understand. I still have the hope that Lib will return in the fall. There ARE a lot of eagles in the area. It could be another one. Only time will tell.

Well, I need to try to get some sleep. Sis-in-law is coming over EARLY to watch the Royal Wedding with us.

Prayers said for everyone, and for every creature. Checking to be sure the porch light is on. Both security systems are enabled. Sleep tight, and I will talk to you some time tomorrow! God bless, and goodnight.

((((HUGS)))) Paula. This is definitely one of the hardest days! I told Mema Jo today that I believe I always felt like we were above bad stuff happening at our nest, tragedies only happened at other nests. My, how my beliefs have changed this year. Sad deep in my soul.

I love you all.

Good morning to those coming in later.

I am so sorry to hear once again another eagle was found, this has been a bad year for the raptors. I am not going to believe it is Lib but I know it may be, like a few others mentioned if he doesn't come back in the fall I will accept it was him, but will we ever know? Our local populations are larger these days.

I shed more tears this year on our raptors then anything else and now I need to rejoice in the new life that will be happening with Isla and EJ.

I hope everyone slept well and if there is a memorial please let me know as Tori and I would like to donate to it.

Lori O. said...

As we try to move on the Sunrise Sycamore Cyber Cafe is open this morning with the best in Eagle Viewing, coffee and tea.

As we gather this morning, no doubt thinking about Liberty, I just want to say I love you all - we are family. Lib will always be alive here. Always.

Special hug as always for KayIM, and for the Eaglet Momsters "old timers" who have known Belle and Liberty for so long. I can't imagine your pain.

LIBERTY LIVES FOREVER HERE!

Kay said...

Good Morning Early Birds. The forecast for Columbus calls for what has become unusual, a bright sunshiny day ! Yeah ! Hope that's true for all of you as well.

Dark nest. ABC coverage of the big wedding in the background, Princes William and Harry walking into the Abbey. Interesting uniforms chosen--William in red--showing no signs of nervousness.

Lynn, Liesl is a pretty name for a pretty little doxie ! My fingers are crossed in hopes she'll soon be yours.

Lynne2, Lynn bringing up your last name interested me. Stan and I had a very good friend in Bullhead City, whose name is Doug Soper. His family owned and operated one of the first mini-mart/gas stations in that young town. A very well respected name there.

Lori, hoping to find you're a little less busy than yesterday !

Hopefully this day will bring a sense of healing and hope for those who feel the fallen eagle found yesterday is our Lib and for those who don't. Either way, only time will tell and we remain Team Liberty, full of love and support for each other !

No eagles last night, no eagles this morning, maybe they just find this weather too unbelievable to stop at the nest, they'd rather be soaring !

It's a pretty slow morning here.

Guess everyone is watching the wedding, which is over now. The royal couple is riding through the streets of London in an open horse drawn carraige to Buckingham Palace.

Lynne2 said...

Good morning! Been watching the Royal Wedding....not easy since I woke up a bit late, and had to deal with the husband and dogs and cats....

BOUNTIFUL SUNSHINE this morning! Cool and crisp and beautiful!

Megan, saw my first Catbird this morning!

Had Loon cam on last night just to enjoy the sounds of the lake at night....very relaxing! Different sounds this morning.

floralgirl said...

Not me, Lori, couldn't care less about the wedding, didn't even turn the tv on this morning. Just got busy. Getting ready to head to bus stop and then work.
Awesome, Lynne. I saw a catbird on Tuesday and Weds, both times being chased by the mockingbird, which is the norm here. They and the mocker always want to live in the exact same area in the yard, I think the mocker is winning the real estate war this year.

glo said...

I will be attending the wedding late morning or early afternoon :-) Got the tea will need to find some sort of crumpet

Lori O. said...

Morning Lynne! What a great idea of having the Loon cam on for night sounds. I love it - think I'll try that.

Megan thought of you yesterday as I was watching rivers of water flow all over the property. There was water running like streams for several hours after the rain stopped. Anyway, I thought I was sure glad that I had not planted my Sweet Peas! Question: is it too late to plant them?

floralgirl said...

Are you planting seeds now, Lori or plants? Little late for seed, but still possible. You should soak seeds in water they will germinate quicker. I usually lay mine on a wet paper towel overnight to soften the outer shell.
Many of my garden paths have that river effect right now. Whoopee, I have river front property!

Lori O. said...

That rain yesterday was freaking amazing. Haven't seen anything like that..sunshine with creeks and streams flowing like little rivers everywhere. CRAZY! I'm planting seeds since they don't like to be transplanted - at least that's what I've heard.

floralgirl said...

I start mine by soaking them overnight, then planting them in peat pots. That way they won't get transplant shock.
Gotta get to work, busy day, two markets this weekend, weather cooperating, and my kid's senior prom tomorrow. Yikes, too much for me to take.

Lynne2 said...

Sure was a beautiful wedding! Of course, after seeing Kate in her dress I just want to NEVER EAT AGAIN! It's been a nice distraction from all of the recent sadness.

What very sad news. Liberty will be forever missed and in our hearts. It's seems to be bad news lately for our Eagles. RIP sweet Liberty. Got to go and wipe the tears

Lynne2 said...

Hahaha! yeah, that's a good one! It just came to me when I saw her standing on that balcony with that Charles! TRUDER! ah, every now and then I have a witty moment....

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Maryann, it is the worst news for sure. Such a sad time.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I just have to say again that if 2006 had been like 2011 in the eagle world, I would have missed out on some of the richest joys in my life, my eagle buddies that I have met through here. I do believe I would have disappeared from all this sadness. Today, however, you all are ingrained deep in my soul and there is no backing out now. ♥♥♥ and ((((HUGS)))) to you all.

grannyblt said...

Good morning all. Beautiful royal wedding is a nice distraction from all the bad news lately. Glad our Red is all right and sad to hear of Lib's possible demise.

floralgirl said...

Aw that's sweet, Sharon. The way I see it, life is full of sorrow and joy, and you just have to survive the sorrow and celebrate the joy. And it ain't always easy to do.

Maryann said...

What very sad news. Omg poor Liberty. It's been so sad lately for our Eagle. Must go have to wipe the tears. RIP sweet Liberty you and your baby will be in our hearts forever and never forgotten

Lori O. said...

((((( GROUP HUG ))))

That was nice Sharon and a good reminder Megan.

Lynne2 said...

I have to say this, and I hope I don't offend...

I wish that you wouldn't give up on Lib. When I was giving up, you brought me back! I really believe that from what's been described that the eagle found is TOO decomposed to be Lib. It could still be any other eagle, and a bizarre coincidence. That's why I personally am choosing to wait this out and see what happens in the fall.

Having said that....everyone's thoughts and feelings are important to me....and my heart and love go out to you all who believe that Lib is really gone. I only wish I could pass some of my remaining hopes to you. But I can only give you support and love and prayers. And (((((((((HUGS)))))))

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING...
lYNNE, I certainly remember when you were ready to give up. We so enjoyed your wit and humor and sweetness...couldn't let you go! You came back...just as Lib might!
So glad you stayed with us...we miss you when you are gone♥

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

As you all know, I am TEAM LIBERTY all the way but deep in my soul, I feel it is Lib. It really does feel different this time. Lib hasn't been seen for a month so. . . Anyway, to be proven wrong in this would be a great miracle but I need to find some closure in this and this is where I will begin.

Costume Lady said...

Sharon, I will NEVER forget your first visit to the Sycamore Palace (your name for our nest). You were as excited as a chld going to Disneyland! Lib (and Belle?) fly right into the tree just for YOU. Made you so happy, that you broke down and cried. I was so happy for you, to be able to see our Royal Couple so soon. It was a wonderful visit and a wonderful day!

floralgirl said...

Sorry, the realist in me leads to believe that it is Liberty. Makes sense cause it was found so close to the nest, and cause I believe there must have been ongoing battles for this nest we weren't seeing. Liberty wouldn't just have given up without a fight, which probably led to his demise.
As far as decomposition there are many factors which could lead to a rapid one, not going to go there.
But we will never know for sure, so you have every right to keep believing he's alive.

Lynne2 said...

Thanks Wanda! I love that I was welcomed into this very special group!

SO, what about a nest visit....a "remembrance" visit?

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Lynne2, I was hoping for an early June visit perhaps?

Lynne2 said...

I wonder what they have done with the remains?

I just saw an INDIGO BUNTING in the front yard! Tried to get a picture but the neighbor's dog came over wanting to help me and that was that!

Lynne2 said...

Yep, sound WONDERFUL!!! Early June! Let's get the gang together!

Lynne2 said...

the realist in me, which I am trying to over come with the hopeful me, knows that Megan. Don't like it much though. I can't help but think that he had to have been compromised in some way to not have been able to get this youngster out of the area and that makes me sad.

I walked over, SNAPPER! Well, I had NOTHING in the truck, no shovel, no box, no towel....UGH. People saw us and slowed down to watch. I kept trying to pick it up but Snappers are pretty aggressive and so it kept turning to snap. At one point it got my shoe! They are pretty dang fast when they want to be! So this lady pulled over, and another guy stopped and directed traffic. The lady kept saying just shove it back where it came from, and I politely told her if I did, she'd just go back and try again. (snapper females leave their home ponds and will travel up to 2 miles to lay eggs near a stream, and then return, year after year after year) So she said she had to go. But the guy stayed and I came up with a plan. We needed something for the snapper to bite. He got an umbrella. I said, you put the end in front of her and when she latches on, I'll pick her up and we'll take her across. So we waited til no one was coming....umbrella, snap, latch, pick up, across the road and safe! Worked like a charm!

Good Morning. Does any one know what the weather is like for the Shuttle Launch. Is it still a 70% go?

Well The Brits pulled off a good wedding.

And I think there are pips happening here!
Another stork nest

Lynne2 said...

THEN, later at work, one of our regular clients who has to bring a beagle every week came in yesterday. She was saying she was late because...........SHE had to stop and save a "huge" turtle trying to cross the road!!! How funny is that! Her's was on a different road.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Are any of those stork nests Hugo's?

Lynne2 said...

If that's the case Lori, and I know it's what is supposed to be done, I wonder if they'll do a necropsy? Even with few remains, experts may be able to determine SOMETHING.

Lori O. said...

Lynne - ROTFL again! I love that!
Never have met a snapper though.

Lynne2 said...

THE MORAL OF THE STORY.....

It's Snapper Egg Laying Season. They will be out and about!

Lori O. said...

Paula said yesterday that there really are not enough in the way of remains to do a necropsy. I believe she was hoping they would do DNA to prove gender.

Lynne2 said...

Lori, they smell like a dirty pond! This one had a shell about the size of a large dinner plate and probably weighed about 10lbs at least. It had to be very comical to watch us getting it across! I bent way over to carry it low in case I lost my grip. My knees and back were not too happy!

Lynne2 said...

I would imagine that they would be able to do that at least....once again, I find myself wishing we had a bit more info on what was going on.

More love and hugs for all. I too came for these eagles but I still Blog for the friends. Some history is very long, some is shorter and some is brand new this year. All are indeed cherished.

Megan I so wish you well at your markets this weekend. Weather has been so very challenging but then watching you deal with weather is part of the history for sure. You are admired and respected probably more than you know.

Will look forward to what I know will be beautiful Prom pictures.

Oh my a June remembrance meeting. Hmmm well my heart would be there, but there are also some who just NEED to wait for Fall to find a peace with closure in their hearts. Perhaps if Vicky and I start working on it now it could be do able come Fall from IL. BUT I would only be able to do outside things with Dex in his stroller; Lord willing that I still have him. I would pack a picnic lunch and Vicky could bring a doggie bag for 2 :-) from supper, seriously. Then of course there is the Pet friendly lodging. Lots of pieces. Not sure we could put it together but my heart would be willing to try. It would give more time to convince NCTC that we want something special for our eagle too. He is just as special and loved as any other being honored anywhere. Maybe at the June meeting you could all give each other that hug support as you brainstorm together how and when to put more closure on this whole sad affair, should that time of peace for all happen come Fall.

I know I sort of chicken blog when it gets tough, I just have too sort out thoughts and feelings for a while. ONE very special friend on here the last time I bowed out said "OK I understand and will let you bow out form the nest, but I won't let you leave my life" She has no clue how very much that helped me for many a day and still sits special on my heart. If I come again I so hope I will get to meet her the next time.

OK I have to eat and go do some yard work.

hedgie said...

Can't get the loon cam to play....I am getting really ticked off about cams and my puter or server.......

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Wow, what a sad time. Who would think that remembering where an eagle's favorite perch was would make someone cry?

hedgie said...

Well, Lori, not so sure now about the Denver repository being mandated....since NBG apparently gets to keep their lady's remains for a display. But, of course, souds like the bird found at NCTC would not be suitable even for Indian use. :(

Glo---don't remember for sure, but THINK it was Comfort Inn that the southern delegation stayed when Thelma brought Buddy. And maybe we could do dinner on the patio and Dex could still come. WOuld be great if you and Vicki could return!!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yes, the Comfort Inn does allow pets.

hedgie said...

Wonder if the 84# of fish delivered to WCV was a donation???

Lynne, the turtle story is great----and I wish someone had been there to film it!!! I'm glad that someone else cared enough to stop and help you!

Lynne2 said...

I must get out into the sunshine for a while.

glo said...

Hedgie SharonThanks for Comfort Inn info. I will see Vicky end of May. Might run it by her some before then so she will save some vacation time and we can start socking pennies I mean $'s aside for gas. etc. MTBR OK I am really ready to get in the car and go buy some mulch.

I love the 84 lbs of fish story. I hope it was donated. Airlines is making a donation to the Wildlife Center as well. I think that is cool. Lots of folks not so happy about NBG thinking of keeping mom there on display. Me either :-(. A sculpture in her honor inside with one of the many gorgeous photos their Eagle paparazi have taken would be more acceptable to most who loved her is my guess. Who knows. Sunday ceremony will be something else indeed though and very special. Is it Kickinbird who has Indian heritage, maybe even if it were just some photos or whatever we could do some sort of small ceremony somewhere in the Fall too. I know its not the same but something that honors the traditional reverance of these birds etc. Maybe my thought is actually irreverant. I surely do nOT mean for it to be.

Glo and any animals, or human, welcome at my place in Fred. My 2 dogs and 5 cats love visitors.
LOL. Cats disappear and dogs really try to go with the UPS guy when he comes. FloBear loves his truck. Seriously, come one, come all.

hedgie said...

LOL---when I went out to get the papers this morning, found someone's dirt-bike helmet laying in the ditch. Looked around---no sign of a wreck....will let it stay out there til Sunday to see if anyone retrieves it. If not, it'll go into the trash for Monday pick-up.

hedgie said...

Not irreverent at all, GLo. Nice idea. I tend to agree about NBG plan....not what I want them to do, either. :(
Saw something about the US Air contribution on FB, but there was some mention about more facts/clarification on their FB page....but couldn't get it to open, so didn't mention it last night.

I have been trying to play catch-up on the blog. The royal wedding was beautiful.
Would be wonderful if Glo and Vicky
could come in the fall of this year

I have a short trip this afternoon and will check in upon my return and once again play catch-up.

Newspaper says that a tornado touched down in our small town but I am glad I am just reading about it and didn't experience it!

The sign down at NCTC would be very appropriate at this time of year. Turtle Crossing

Good morning! Watched reviews of the wedding. Have it taped and will watch later. Catherine was a beautiful bride. LOL Lynne, wonder if she ever eats and if she does, anything besides salad?

And on that note, have a big announcement! I am officially down 20 pounds this morning. That makes me probably 15 pounds lighter than when you saw me last October. I am melting away. In my dreams!

Lolly said...

Yes, good thing to always have an umbrella, but be sure to keep it away from Margy! ♥ U Margy!

Want to cry again! Like Glo said, my heart will be with you in early June.

I'm on Day 4 of new diet today. Looking forward to not feeling like flubbo arms in a tank top! I won't mention belly - that NEVER goes away and I don't even have kids!

Have a great day all - BBIALW - have to hit the road.

Had a hard time getting the cam up this morning, but just kept trying and finally success and there was Mr. Truder. (Oh, and loved your wit this morning, Lynne! British Truder! roflmbo!)

Anyway, I thought Mr. Truder looked extra unkept this morning.

Lolly said...

When I first saw Mr. Truder he was on the edge of the nest. Could not see his head, but you could easily tell it was him. Belle is just so beautiful and he was just unkept.

Morning, all.

Thank God for the Love ♥ and (((Hugs))) in this family.

Megan expressed my sentiments exactly...

"Sorry, the realist in me leads to believe that it is Liberty.
But we will never know for sure, so you have every right to keep believing he's alive."

As did Sharon...

"I just have to say again that if 2006 had been like 2011 in the eagle world, I would have missed out on some of the richest joys in my life, my eagle buddies that I have met through here. I do believe I would have disappeared from all this sadness. Today, however, you all are ingrained deep in my soul and there is no backing out now. ♥♥♥ and ((((HUGS)))) to you all."

This nest and blog are a part of me that will never leave.

I read somewhere that "devotion deserves devotion". Liberty and Belle were devoted to each other and their nest. And that is why I stay....devotion....as I'm sure many or you do as well.

I will always watch our precious Belle and her mate, whomever she chooses. And although I do believe Liberty is gone, if you don't believe he is, don't give up your hope!

“Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened.” Anatole France

hedgie said...

Lolly, congrats on your 20#----time now to maintain! You are too tall to lose any more!

As for Truder's appearance---I think he always looks unkempt....probably because the dark spot makes him look dirty.

Lolly said...

Lynn, do you have a picture of Liesl to share? I am getting so excited for you!

I am off now to eat and to start getting ready for company this evening. Tonight's meal is Prosciutto-Stuffed Port Tenderloin with a Mushroom Sauce, Italian rice, steamed broccoli, and fresh sliced tomatoes with basil and feta cheese. Can you tell that I am excited to be back cooking? Tomorrow night is Linguine with Shrimp and Plum Tomatoes and a tossed salad. I am officially off my diet but will have portion control. I WILL have portion control!!!!!!!!! I WILL have portion control!!!!☺

Have a great day! I will peek in occasionally.

hedgie said...

Of course, if he is to be the permanent new Mr., then it would be cool if he kept that spot---would always be identifiable.

Lolly said...

Paula, I loved the two comments by Megan and Sharon, that you reposted. My sentiments, exactly!

From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Mema Jo said...

Paula - that was so beautifully said and especially true is that it was words from your heart.
We have bonded because of our devotion to each other because of our Regal Couple.

hedgie said...

Wow, Jo...thanks for link.....I love horses....wish I still had one...Lilly is beautiful....and so is Lacey Mae----did you read that she was one day away from being sold for slaughter??? SO glad she was rescued!

Lolly, I am drooling.....

Megan and Lynn - saw my 1st catbird yesterday morning. He came to the deck and kept looking in the glass door. Thankful he didn't fly into it.
I still can't get over the red winged blackbird visiting me.

Best get into my street clothes

May each and everyone of you find
love and peace today and keep it in your heart forever.....

Got the mulch in the trunk. Top soil on the patio, Wheelbarrow out of garage and now I just need some muscles hmmmm well its gonna have to be mine today. Hope my back will hold in there.

I want you to know that not opening the nest yet as of the day POJ was 1 day old has nothing to do with not accepting a new mate if Belle needs one etc. I may get past what it does have to do with and I may not. Its lifelong and hasn't gone away yet so... nuff said.

Out to work, Dex loves the sunshine and didn't want to even come in for me to change into the yard work stuff He will be a happy camper today :-)

Thanks Lori saw your invite. We will see how this all plays out. First I need to talk to my chauffer or maybe I will be chauffer this time MTBR there too.

Morning have been watching the wedding.

Shocked when I opened my Shepherdstown page to go to my blog. Wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Nor how to handle the feeling I got reading that.

I did jump onto the blog 2nd set of comments not first yet.

I think Ophelia has a birthday if so Happy Birthday.

Will need to sometime read first set of comments. Cause I see Lynn-Hedgie and a doxie. Will have to find out more about that.

Great save on the snapper Lynne2..was funny when you said girl came in and saved a snapper too. It is their time of year to do what was instilled in them.

Prayers for lady and husband trying to have a baby..God you know I went through this. So I ask you to BLESS them with a babe.Amen

Glo it would be so good to see you and Vicky.

Paula and Megan I can only "tear up at your words for now".

So glad to hear Red and Diane are ok - prayer answered.

George the man I ask you all to be in prayer for. Prostate cancer had the bone scan...PRAISES...not in the bone found out yesterday. Please continue to keep him in prayer. A long chemo med and radiation med 2 or 2 1/2 yrs. to be on. Thank you ALL.

Think I'm going to lie on my bed for a little while.

Good Morning/Afternoon, Everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OPHELIA!!!

Dragging myself in here after pulling an all-nighter watching the Royal Wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony.
It was so nice to see such a joyous occasion--our world is so often dark and uncertain. I think everyone was ready for a fairy tale wedding!

Don't know how much longer I can keep going without sleep. Think I'd better try for a wink or two!

Sis-in-law will be over before long. She stayed home and talked to me on the phone as we watched the wedding.
She needed a bit of sleep too! Good thing that today is Friday! TGIF!

I need to catch up on the blog more, but need sleep worse. Will hopefully BBL. Spending the rest of the day with Hubby & Sis-in-law & Emma.

Love all of you fellow eagle lovers more than you realize, and don't know what I'd do without each and every one of you! We will get through these incredibly sad times with each other's help, love, and support. And TEAM LIBERTY WILL NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!

Going to hit the hay now for a short while. God bless all Momsters and Dadsters, and God bless our nest and our eagles! :o]
