I saw Margy's post about the nest rocking in the wind and that was what clued me in! I'm a little snow this morning....Stinkbug Fatigue.
BTW, knees are OK, today will be a good test when I go to work. Been trying to rest them as much as possible over the weekend.

Good Morning in our confusing Eagle World at NCTC.
We just have to watch the nest and the eagles that come and try to identify them. Record what we see in the nest.
Can Liberty come back? Yes it has happened at other nest. The original male leaves from another male coming in. Then when egg time comes next season the original male comes back. No it does not mean that is what will happen in this case. But Liberty is out there believe me. He is!!
Then there are time that the nest gets taken over and the original male or female does not come back.
We need to watch the nest and watch who comes in. Record who you see.

Lynne2 in reading comment. Where you said about a squirrel's nest. It was our nest right here when the season began we had squirrels that had a nest in the eagles nest.
I think Belle and Liberty took care of eating those.
It has happened at other nest also. Funny seeing a squirrel in there when eagles are away.

It seemed to me that Spot and Belle seem pretty comfortable together, for now anyway. Strange behavior at ME nest--Dad is doing the brooding according to those more in the know. Nature doesn't always go according to plan, does it?

@Lori Thanks so much. I was using a Canon 400mm 2.8(huge lens) with a 2x extender, so I was shooting 800mm at 5.6 in bright sun without any problem at all. The only problem that I'm having is I'm cropping down so much of the photo that I'm going to have to upscale to get good prints. Have to work on that problem. I'm debating on renting an 800mm in a few weeks, so with the extender I'll be at 1600mm at 11.2, but in bright sunshine should be no problem. I had plenty of light and was only setting at ISO 400, so plenty of wiggle room there. If I double what I'm using now then I should be able to get the same shots and only have to crop down a bit, which should leave easy 16x20 prints or higher without a problem.

Good morning! Have not even started to catch up........but did want to share that other entities involved in the River Clean-up have NOT cancelled for Sat. SO if anyone was considering participating, you can meet in the train station on Potomac St. in Harper's Ferry Lower Town. HF Nat'Hist.Park is partnered with River & Trail Outfitters and BTI Whitewater & River Riders in the endeavor. Guess maybe their riverbanks are in better shape.

Still 2 beautiful chicks and 1 egg at Decorah. They are in close on the egg looking at it. I see a chicks poop shoot on the egg. Feeding going on. Bigger chick just grabbed the feathers of little chick and was pulling them like crazy.

I do not do Nascar except curse when I get caught in their traffic at TX Motor Speedway going to Laurel's. I must say I did enjoy my fast ride around their track a few years ago. After that, the next year a man was killed at the same event. They stopped that, I am sure!

Youngest daughter is due July2 but has a placenta abruption and we had to take her to hospital on weekend. Now home , bed rest, and we take one day at a time.

Jack and I are going carpet shopping today. Going to replace the den carpet. It is 15 years old and in need of replacement. This will be our anniversary present to each other. Of course, our anniversary is not until June, but what the heck!

Fed dogs and am going to get cleaned up
Our weather still is nothing to write home about. Still lots of snow but we have a few days above 0 degrees C so a bit is melting. Now it looks dirty. No sign of buds or flowers or grass yet
but we might be able to get our Santa scene out of front yard in 2 weeks.LOL
Was talking with Carmen, my neighbor. She is a night time respiration therapist at a Fort Worth hospital. She comes home around 7:30. She says that more times than not one of the hawks is on the ground in our front yard. Wonder what the attraction is? I saw them several times but had not seen them recently, but she says they are still coming here.
Bev, prayers for your dear daughter and all of you.....know how scary that is....I had a previa that did abrupt----luckily it was past due date so taking the baby (Carolyn aka Jewels on here) was fine, but because they had such a hard time getting a surgeon because the OB/GYN was out of town, it made for a hairy few hours. It waas critical, but all turned out well.

Guess I can not complain about our 52 right now. We have bright sunshine and everything is bright spring green. Texas Bluebonnets are blooming along the roadways. However, they are not as thick as usual since we are so dry.

the Maine Male is a trooper.
I am jsut wondering of the female had to drop an egg during storm and that is why she was missing and is tending to that egg. There has always been a suspicion of a nest nearby. Just a theory. She does come to nest but does not incubate eggs and so thus my theory. But the male is committed here.
let us hope she clicks in soon. I do not feel she is a bad female, things go on off cam that we do not know about and I think the human inference there before storm , spooked her.

Not only was there no one on that nest overnight in ME, but one can't hlep but wonder if those eggs were cracked when that intruder fought with the dad right in the nest. That was awful.

There was one evening that we did not see a return to nest before it went black, but male was on nest when cam was visible again so he probably went in during evening. I do believe he was there during the evening. and it was not that cold that day.

As I said he left before dark but was on when cam was visible soI believe he went in during night.
and when mom came in the other day, she rolled the eggs and we saw one clearly. It was not broken. So there is one for sure that is is not broken.they were buried deep, and so I think that saved them.
There was a great Atlanta Zoo panda forum that I used to go to but I can't it or the link. does somebody remember? Way back in Lun Lun and Mei Lan time.....ages ago!

Wow! Decorah has moved off the nest and is showing the other eagle sitting on the big branch. You can see the farm below as well. That is where you see the horses running from time to time.

Andrew called me this morning with concert dates. He is doing a solo with about 15 different percussion instruments and is so excited about it and also student conducting at one concert. He will graduate in December 2012 and is getting married tentatively June 2, 2012. 2012 will be a very big year for him.
