Good Happy Day Everyone!
It's 5PM in Finland & my cams are black!
Last night I read about the NZ sloth bear. Oh, so sad. Sorry, Mits. They are one of our favorites, too.
Will try to get a set of pics on here now~~~~ ☺

Sissy, I wouldn't be able to stand seeing that sucker in my sink all day!! Wash it down the drain, or get it with the vacuum!! Yucko.

Hi to all who have come in the door since I posted earlier!

Mits said...

thanks Sharon for posting the picture of the beautiful Merlin, we keep it up for awhile in honor of this wonderful sloth bear.

No, I meant, had he been out in the exhibit? Was wondering if that is the one I have a pic of. We loved the sloth bear. They have great ears. We followed it around for a while when we were there.

Mits said...

yes he had been on exhibit...you may have seen him while you were there, he was usually with Hana, the mom of his son Bala

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Hmm. The one we saw was alone, walked all around the place. We watched him for a while.

Drat---already dark at Finland! From what I can tell, I seems they must be having at least 12 hrs. of darkness already!!!

Merlin was a beauty, for sure. So sad.

My wish came true---it is raining! I can take it easy today!

Mits said...

well Merlin and Kali had a habit of pacing back and forth

Harriet has her back to us today...don't forget she is on the Today show tomorrow

Good morning! Another beautiful fall day! 64 and bright blue, cloudless sky! Also, we are having pretty fall colors. Do not have that every year. Usually the leaves turn brown and fall.

Going to be another day working on Jacob's book. I have sooo many pictures. With this book, he will definitely remember the trip.

Lynn, know what you mean by being happy it is raining and you have to stay in. lol I mowed or mulched the leaves the other day, now the ground is covered again. I will mow probably this weekend. I hate it when the leaves are two thick. Easier to mulch when not so many. Rest today!

I read that Suz is still looking for a job...thought she got a job at headquarters???

And Ceil has retired? Great!

Are they eventually going to band the Alcoa falcons?

Mits - so sorry to hear about Merlin.

Ajay and grandsons came down to Mom's yesterday evening. We went out for Chinese food for dinner :)

Lolly said...

Paula, I think they gave up on banding the falcons. They lost the "window" where they could do it.

Sissy - this place is in Minnesota...scroll down the page, the cam link is on the right

Okay, now I am madder than ever about H1N1 vaccine........Guantanamo (yep, GITMO) has more vaccine than New York City........why the h--- are we giving those terrorists vaccine when we can't get it??????

paula eagleholic said...

Nature - great pics...cool that you caught the nictating membrane!

hedgie said...

And a bunch of vaccine was donated to other countries before it was issued here, but they are saying that was before they knew how bad things could get.

paula eagleholic said...

BWE cam should be on soon! :)

hedgie said...

Paula, by the time the "tower" could get to Alcoa next the chicks would be old/big enough to attempt to fly away, which of course they don''t want to happen before they are really ready, so no hope of banding or sex determination this year.

Lolly said...

Loweeda......LOVE the pictures.

I want to get a towel and dry him off!

And, I would love to live where there are those beautiful trees, woods, and deer!

NatureNut said...

My daughter and I were at NZ and sat for the feeding time for sloth bears, but it was about year and 1/2 ago, so don't know if our pics included him. (I'll have to tell her when she gets back from China.Wrote Blackberry note that I would NOT like climbing the Great Wall!!) We mostly got pics of one bear at a time, as the moved so much. I know I posted some on here.
