She remarked that there are eagles at Mason Neck. That I know. I told her that the eagle release there was the first time I had used my camera to take a video.
Shirley, I've heard of the Conowingo Dam, but have never heard anything about the eagle presence. That is really cool. I think we definitely need a field trip there! 20 at a time! WOW!
Hmmmm...did you notice that the annotated checklist hasn't been updated in over 10 yrs.?? Maybe the whole website is that old....or at least not updated after the guy named there died in 2002.
Hi Everyone, had a bit of gyro I brought home.Greek salad is in fridge. Fubby ordered turkey club & a salad. There's a Motel & Restaurant near Park that was bought by Greek family!!Take out has the greek items, regular menu is the normal fare.Won't be back there for 2 weeks, so we decoded to splurge. I stopped at the pond on way home and was amazed at what I saw. Will put pics on spot & let you know as soon as they're there ☺
Back from NJ, had a great time with my 2 sons. Went up to Princeton and walked around the campus and around town. Stopped and had coffee and dessert...yummy!
Tammy, our niece, just called. Tom's mom is running a fever of 102 and getting more congested. We are definitely heading in the wrong direction. We have pretty much decided that none of us need to be down there alone, so we are having to back up and make a new plan.
Thanks so much for all the prayers! We love you guys so much!!
Got to read back a little & hope Cindi gets my message of sympathy about her dear dog. It is just heart wrenching to lose a pet.
Lolly, I love your tree. Some mentioned things about the eagle pics. We were in car near the tree, so mostly Greg snapped the pics. We zoomed out the cam, but I almost always crop them, too, so subject does appear closer.
Gonna eat some more, BBL, but wondered if anyone knew Suzanne's status. I'd write her a letter if I knew her address. ☺
Evening all. I have heard about the Conowingo Dam and eagles there. Not too far from me. I think hour and a half. Have to see when we can get there. Thinking of Judie and Deb also. Has anyone e-mailed Deb. I think Judie said she was getting very busy with school.
I did not see the pig for long. I had just gone to the cam and there it was. I thought it was a bear. Then it turned and ran. I knew then it was a pig. Did not see it long enough to know the size. But it was exciting to see something different.
Oh, Sissy, NOT good news. Prayers continue. Paula, was Conowingo where you went last spring? I had thought you had gone to someplace in PA....am I confusing your trips? Loretta, love Greek food, too! Suz is doing okay...we posted some of her email messages last week. I'll forward what I've got and give you her address. I called Deb...left a message...today would be a work day for her....
Good evening all! Raven the Old Dog, Steve and myself had a lovely walk at Terrapin Park today. We saw very few bird...a pair of swans, some cedar waxwings, goldfinches and robins and many turkey buzzards circling over the dead 'possum right in the middle of the trail how lovely is nature. Also saw a couple of deer and collected some milkweed seeds. A couple who was leaving the park as we came in had seen a pair of eagles....of course WE didn't see them! Paula, glad you had fun today too! The festival of lights sounds wonderful, Mits....when and where exactly? Gosh Jo, I hope you are OK. Sounds like a scary episode you had. I hope GeeGee is feeling better today and that DEB resurfaces soon. I a recent post from Bev and I'm sure she won't mind my sharing with you all on here: Beverly Crisco Riffe Tom's mother is running a fever of 102 and has alot more congestion than this morning. Nurses are calling the doc to see what to do next. This is not good. Will post more when I know more. 52 minutes ago
Loweeda (Just love that name) lol The tree is a picture from our trip to New England two years ago. Wish it was in my yard, but you know Texas does not get color like that. Not much anyway.
Ceil, if that dam is that close to you....you better get there fast!
Did not realize that eagles migrated until you folks explained it. The way I understand it, some eagles migrate, but not all. So some migrate through Conowingo? Will have to investigate that more.
I had asked Sandy/Randy to try to get a copy of the film for us to view at our next get together! Just might happen. Hedgie said it was a 20 minute scheduled film
We were at home when it was time for the NCTC film, but I felt too wiped out to go. Hoped that another showing would be in the works. Good night from here, too. See you in the morning light. Prayers for all, but specials for Granny Riffe for healing, for Cindi for comfort, and for Deb in hopes that all is well with her!
So happy you liked he strange pictures! I love doing them. Lolly, maybe Jack could add a little spray paint on one of your pecans! Yes, daughter's area is mostly brown.Your Gardens, tho, look great---lots of watering I guess. Speaking of that, I got a package of tulip bulbs straight from Amsterdam via TX.I was wondering about TX address since she's in China & SIL in PA! I keep planting, & they keep dying----OR, I think mole did some in, the mini-armadillo. Well gonna hit the hay---probably go to work tomorrow to put another coat of paint on sign blanks. It stayed so tacky Friday, I only got one coat on one side of all of them. They are about the 3rd set for Surratt House. Maintenance idiots keep damaging w/grass cutters I think! Prayers for all-- Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)
Lolly! I was trying to catch up on the blogs and had the ESPN cam up and I could swear I saw a pig too. Didn't say anything earlier incase I was seeing things. Whew! glad you saw one too.
Granny Riffe is holding her own this morning. Fever is down now. She had a pretty rough night, slept from about 1 am to 5:30 or so. Tammy said she was confused alot, wanting to get out of bed. They drew blood to find out about the clotting. Will post more when we get those results. Maybe today we will find out when the surgery will be for sure. Prayers, prayers!!
Car thief/arsonist from yesterday morning, went on to steal one more car, but the officers knew where he was headed, and made a capture! 19 yoa ... old enough to be tried as an adult ☺ Love it when the officers take another bite out of crime...but five cars damaged or destroyed over this one.
Gosh that eagle in Maine was so loud it sounded like it was right in the room with me. The crow was answering it. Hate to go but got to get a cup of tea. Cold here.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!---Wonderful news SISSY -- that GRANNY is holding her own this am--Will continue to keep you folks and GRANNY in my thoughts prayers!---GOD BLESS!!
Have been up since really early, working on the Anatomy Project. Last night our daughter called and told us about a hilarious website--peopleofwalmart.com. Laughed till I cried! Unbelievable.
Lots more prayers for Granny Riffe and family! Glad to hear she's holding her own. ((Hugs)) all around!
Good Morning All! Great to wake up to the sun shinning and trees almost bare. Hubby says 2 more times this fall will he need to collect leaves. The bareness of the trees is sad but it means another season is upon us.
JO!--I was just wondering if BLUEFIELD SHARON was awake?---ho!--not sure about Thanksgiving--we usually go to LISA'S friend's house that lives on the MELLON ESTATE in Middleburg--- they have the fox hunt!
Today is DAVIN'S birthday!!---I like to remind her---that I was hospitalized for 5 wks before her birth---& 2 wks after her birth!!!--That is why she is so SPECIAL!
The day I came home!--WHOLE WORLD CHANGED!!---KENNEDY WAS SHOT!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO JO AND ED! And Happy Birthday to Davin! Bright beautiful breezy Sunday AM. Temp up to 53. Mr. Bill showed up at 10 and GOT THE MOWER STARTED!!! I hate disturbing the Sunday morning peace and quiet....but not to worry, neighbors are also making noise now, so...no harm, no foul. Congrats on WVU win, all you 'Eer fans. Daughter had fun, but she did get cold---hubby talked her out of thermals and ear muffs!
Still have the dogs' yard to do, so guess I better get back out to it before the mower cools off and decides not to want to start! Jo, are you feeling more like yourself this morning? I hope so, but DO get into the Dr. tomorrow. Hope that Granny has a good day and that the blood results are a GO for surgery tomorrow. Margy, so glad they caught the lawbreaker!!
d-i-l sees eagles all the time when she is going to her sisters' home in Delaware, has to pass by the Conowingo Dam....located in NE Maryland...also sees eagles at Centennial Park in Columbia Maryland
MORNIN' HEDGIE!---Delighted to hear your mower is working!! Tell daughter it's always windy & cool at the WVU STADIUM!----we didn't play well---to many injuries!
LORDY--LORDY MITS!---I was just waiting for a correction! ho!--When I viewed that site this am---the wind was blowing & the ground looked white---I AM TRULY SORRY--forgive me!
Well, well, Bill came back---brought more gas for mower since my can was MT, andnow he is mowing/mulching out on the banks along the road. Brave fellow---actually more stoopid than brave, I guess, but I surely do appreciate his bravado, because trying to blow out there is really rough for me----kills my ankles and so afraid of falling!
WHOA!---It is just too beautiful to stay inside---but I can't seem to get off the phone!!---I love the calls on Sundays!!---It is 76°---enjoy until Wed--I hear!! Certainly makes all God's children happy!---
This is the link where we can send cards to Mrs. Riffe and they will print them and take them to her, like we did with Sharon that time, remember. I know what card hounds you guys are and thought you might like that.
Sure hoping that Deb is just having computer problems.....still worrying that we haven't heard from her, and she hasn't returned my phone call. Blonde Alert has been out w/o success :(
The light I thought I saw at the end of the tunnel was extinguished by some unexpected problems with some wannabe adults -- to include a nasty cheating incident. Only six more class days remaining followed by two exam days. Can't wait!
Happy belated anniversary Jo and Ed. Hope it was a nice evening Jo inspite of feeling a bit under the weather. If you're not feeling good tomorrow, get thee to your doctor.
Heartbroken for Cindi. Always so sad with a beloved family pet.
Wishing a speedy recovery for Mrs.Riffe and that Ms. Gee Gee is on the way back to feeling great.
Happy Birthday, Davin.
Sorry if I've missedsome grat events/adventures the past several days.
THERE'S our Judie!!! Sorry things have been rough for you, kiddo. Better days ahead, I hope. Cheats are creeps! You didn't miss Jo's anniversary---today is THE day!!
Speaking of creeps....the auto thief/arsonist that Margy mentioned was caught and arrested. 19 y.o.---5 seperate incidents.......dumb!
Hi, California Jim! Very nice here....up to 70!!! Wish it would last, but it won't of course....:( Are you watching a football game??? I am---my loser Redskins are playing Atlanta. Double :( :(
A quick hello. I did what I could on the assignments for the photography class.
Waited until the weekend to check on assignments. Was supposed to present pictures taken by students. Whoops! I have a few from earlier in the year. I posted my assignment with a title of "Under Construction."
I am fortunate that she said deadlines are not written in stone. No, Judie, I won't cheat. Could use my own pictures, but will not do that. Sorry you had to deal with a cheating problem. Even more serious for college students than high school students. I keep warning mine!
I noticed that lots of people in my class have not yet posted their work. Maybe they have the same problem. We also had to do a photo album of our own, and I used Photoshop. I like the way it turned out, but it took a lot of time.
BTW, I just counted my nest.I thought there were 50. There are 94. Will have to be selective.
Now, I have to put together an assignment for my own classes. Tomorrow night is my first SAT prep class. I have a meeting after school and the night class starts at 6:00. Hope the meeting is short. I nwill eed to organize my thoughts for the SAT thing. Thank goodness, I have done this before.
Hi all! Just home from church. We had Thanksgiving dinner at church following the service. Feel stuffed! Great to have such a dinner with the church family. It is a small church and they are family!
Feeling very mellow...... Jack is vacuming, guess I will pick up and dust.
Just want to wish all of you a blessed Sunday. You all mean the world to me. Such a wonderful group!
How nice of Jack to vacuum. I am sure you appreciate him. Great guy, that Jack.
Went out this afternoon to check on my feeders. They have stayed full for a long time. Something amiss. Blue jay scolded me big time. Told me to check things out. Food was in a solid mass and spoiled. Don't know if it was because of the rain or the fact they did not like the food or both, but I cleaned up the mess. Had to use a knife and a screwdriver to get old food out. Thought I might have to throw away the feeders and buy new ones.
Yep! I am one lucky girl! (Get that? "girl") Jack has me very spoiled. He is a wonderful rare one!
Jo, I forgot to wish you and your hubby a Happy Anniversary. 51!! That is fantastic! And, the two of you have made a wonderful family.
Now, you get yourself to the doctor fast and find out what happened when you went out to eat. Glad you are feeling better, but do not want that to happen again.
I am the bearer of extremely sad and unexpected news concerning the death of Deb Palmer. Helen and I were both able to get through to Deb's home where Diann, her sister from CA, informed us of this tragic happening. I am still in disbelief. Deb was found at home - no signs of violence. Diann had not heard from her and became concerned just as we all did on the blog. Deb's friend Mary said that Deb said recently that she wasn't feeling well. An autopsy will be performed but have no idea how soon results would be known. Deb had told her sister she wanted a party to celebrate life. Diann said her ashes would be spread over the Yankton river and that a memorial service would be held. I am to call again to find out any details this upcoming week. I want to find out if we can pay our respects with any donation - maybe to the Osprey of SD. I will keep you posted with any news. We are all family! ((hugs)) Jo
I am just sitting here in shock with tears in my eyes. You all were worried enough to find her phone number and try to call her. That was so thoughtful, and you eventually got the news, sad as it is.
How sad. I will miss Deb. It is hard to know what else to say.
Oh my gosh, I just read my email. But I'm having a hard time processing what it says. My thoughts are with Deb's family. She was a great person and taught us all so much about life. i feel privileged to have known her and am so grateful for all the time she spent with us.
I wrote to DEB this morning on the blog to tell her that her favorite South Dakota person--'TOM BROKAW' was on TV this morning---live at the Berlin Wall---I had no idea....life doesn't seem fair sometimes---guess we won't have to worry about snow in SD anymore---
I love you guys! If I ever forget to tell you that, please know that I love you all!!
Bless you Deb! You will be sorely, sorely missed! We sat together at that animal show last year at open house and just had the best ole time. I am proud to call her friend. Think of the pics she'll be getting in heaven! What a photographer as well!!!!
On Facebook, I found a great pic of Deb on her profile, holding an osprey. It is a beautiful pic. If I can figure out how, I will put it on our momster page. Can anyone give me a reminder?
I went back to see when we last heard from Deb on here. The last comment I found was at 9:55 Tuesday evening.
Her blog is so beautiful. Such wonderful pictures. You know there are over 9,000 hits on it. Everyone enjoyed her pictures so much. It would be a shame to have them fade into the past. Can we put a link to her blog on the Momster's album or something?
Just finished reading emails and replying & there isn't much to say. First time I opened Blog today, (had been at work for a couple hours), looked at Deb's gorgeous eagle pair picture & teared up big time. I hope they will keep that pic on opening page. Will have to tell Steve.
I'm wearing as much yellow as I can muster....not only my favorite color, but I had often told Deb that it reminded me of her Sunny Disposition.
Take care, all, let us hold on to each other tightly and warmly through this profound sadness. I think our nest spider is weaving a silken farewell message to our beloved Deb.
I just saw where a deer got in the lion exhibit at NZ this evening. It was seriously injured, sedated and taken to an animal hospital. Of all the places for a deer to end up!!!
My heart is breaking. Jo, thank you for calling me. I have been outside, that's what Deb liked best. To be outside enjoying nature. She did teach us so much. And her picture of our pair of eagles is priceless. Paula, Jack and I were with her when she took that picture. It is so hard to realize. More than anything I wish we could all be together. Group therapy right now is what I need. Here is a (((HUG))) for all of you and one for Deb. We will miss you, dear friend, and when the wind blows from the north...I will be thinking of you.

At first I thought it was the bear, but then it started running. ha No bear...a pig!
On the espn blog they mentioned an owl in the trees. I can see something glowing in the tree on the right. Could be an owls eyes.
She remarked that there are eagles at Mason Neck. That I know. I told her that the eagle release there was the first time I had used my camera to take a video.
Saw that too, Lolly and wondered the same thing.
The images in the background are so distorted that it is hard to see what might be back there.
Shirley, I've heard of the Conowingo Dam, but have never heard anything about the eagle presence. That is really cool. I think we definitely need a field trip there! 20 at a time! WOW!

Would love to hear from Judie and Deb.
Judie is probably getting ready to end the semester. That would keep her busy.
Show is over & I enjoyed it. Just remembered (lol) that I need to pay about 3 bills on line.

Tammy, our niece, just called. Tom's mom is running a fever of 102 and getting more congested. We are definitely heading in the wrong direction. We have pretty much decided that none of us need to be down there alone, so we are having to back up and make a new plan.

Man you gals got to see the pig on ESPN. Was it large..
Very very large raccoons - 2 are there now
Good close-ups earlier of raccoons rooting through the leaves.
Thanks Lolly for bringing Sissy's remarks over for us. I hadn't gone into FB today.
Prayers for Granny Riffe and her family being offered.
Not an easy time for your family, Sissy. Prayers for all of you.
On ESPN they said:
Biggggggggg HOGG
and also
The big owl is up in the tree at the end of the field
Sorry to hear that, Sissy. Keeping all of you in my thoughts.
Conowingo is on my list, I'll get there eventually.
Where is Conowingo? I guess I need to read back a ways.
Praying for a speedy recovery for Granny and that Sissy and Tom's shoulders get a rest soon...bless all their hearts!

I agree, nice pics, Loretta.
Great pictures, Loweeda! So, what are they. Never seen a duck in a tree!
Cool shots, Loretta. We sometimes see cormorants in a tree along the river when we come across the bridge from Sheptown.

Oh, and Wanda, sorry you had to cut your trip short, hope GeeGee feels better soon.
Yes, Shirley, the migrating eagles hang out at Conowingo in the fall.
Left comments for your great pics on your blog, Lowreeda!!!
Some eagles, like ours, do not migrate in the fall if there is a plentiful food supply.
Sleep tight, Shirley and Ceil!
I haven't seen Deb on for a couple of days, either.
Night, Shirley and Ceil.
Wonder how the filmfest at NCTC is going?
Love all your pics Loretta.
I had asked Sandy/Randy to try to get a copy of the film for us to view at our next get together! Just might happen. Hedgie said it was a 20 minute scheduled film

Good Morning, Everyone!
Oboy, can't stop yawning. Gotta go make some coffee! Will be back in a while. Have a good morning, everyone! :o]

Hey There T-Bird! Hope all is well with you!
JO!--I was just wondering if BLUEFIELD SHARON was awake?---ho!--not sure about Thanksgiving--we usually go to LISA'S friend's house that lives on the MELLON ESTATE in Middleburg--- they have the fox hunt!

MD ZOO---PENGUINS enjoying the pool & there is some sunshine!--Going to be a beautiful day!
Happy Birthday Davin...and again Happy Anniversary to Ed and Jo.
TTYAL:)
MORNIN' HEDGIE!---Delighted to hear your mower is working!! Tell daughter it's always windy & cool at the WVU STADIUM!----we didn't play well---to many injuries!
They always list the names of soldiers lost this week on GOOD MORNING AMERICA----

Yeah Normabyrd, she owes me big. : ) Going for a walk before the game starts. Later
LORDY--LORDY MITS!---I was just waiting for a correction! ho!--When I viewed that site this am---the wind was blowing & the ground looked white---I AM TRULY SORRY--forgive me!
the site is off now!
Norma, there was snow on the ground there yesterday. The wind was blowing and it looked very cold.
Humpf----neighbor is out there working with him---guess two mowers are better than one!
Guess when everything gets too overwhelming and feels hopeless, the ones we love DO come through for us! Praise the Lord!
Yes, Hedgie, there seems to always be someone or many someones that can be counted on no matter what.
WHOA!---It is just too beautiful to stay inside---but I can't seem to get off the phone!!---I love the calls on Sundays!!---It is 76°---enjoy until Wed--I hear!!

This is the link where we can send cards to Mrs. Riffe and they will print them and take them to her, like we did with Sharon that time, remember. I know what card hounds you guys are and thought you might like that.
Her name is Eppie Riffe. She is in room 4069.
Love ya'll so much!
Sure hoping that Deb is just having computer problems.....still worrying that we haven't heard from her, and she hasn't returned my phone call. Blonde Alert has been out w/o success :(
Did You Know.....? From tomorrow until January 6th, sunset will occur before 5PM, EST.
Lynn same here even if the computer is down phone should be working. Have they had a storm there? I don't think so.
It is beautiful outside Just got back from the store.
Good warm sunshiny afternoon, everyone.

Jim
Hi, California Jim! Very nice here....up to 70!!! Wish it would last, but it won't of course....:(
Are you watching a football game??? I am---my loser Redskins are playing Atlanta. Double :( :(
Yesterday it looked like Diego would never move a muscle, but look at him now.
It looked like Bai was either tickling him or bathing him a few ago, now he's like a manic toy that will not wind down.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
I haven't been watching, Hedgie. I don't have the TV now, so I try to keep up on-line sometimes. ... and the radio sometimes.
I see the Chargers play the Giants later today...
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Did you take the Buzzard (Turkey Vulture) quiz on BWO yet?? [:~D]
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
What happened to your TV, Jim??
Will take quiz after I look in on Diego.

Cool quiz---only missed the one about how long they can soar w/o flapping.
Diego was apparently asleep, but enjoyed reading The Sounds of Silence article.
Well, that's one good thing, Mits.....maybe she's away on a kayak trip and forgot to tell us!
Hedgie, you are so right! What a fine group of peeps.
fight with the skins and atlanta
I wish the redskins could show us some class and I wouldn't say that to just anybody. (take up for'em till the end)
The penalties are killin' us, T-bird!
Yes, they are Hedgie. They just scored, so maybe they can start a roll. Even the staple, our defense, has been awful. Turnovers aren't helping either.
Will have to be selective.
nest pictures, that is
Judie, maybe you can cheer us up at Christmas time. Hope you have a good break.
The skins are moving it. Touchdown ruled on the field.
Hi, Lolly!
Well, goodness! Redskins are playing well now. Holding breath.
Wow! Touchdown! Yea!
blessed Sunday to you too, Lolly:)
Shirley, I have been having the same problem with my feeders and I think it is the rain.
The suet has not been doing well either.
Helen you have mail
got it and answered, Jo
Want to remind you that my email is not working. We can not email out and getting very little in.
I do have my inbox of facebook.
Hopefully we will get it up and running tomorrow.
Howdy
Our nest is shaped like a heart, at an angle. Now to fill that heart with Eagles ♥
Jo, I think I forgot to put in my anniversary wish yesterday. Happy anniversary! Fifty-one years. How wonderful.
And he brings you G&T's, Lolly. How very nice.
Lolly check your FB message
((hugs)) Jo
Rest in peace Deb. You were such a special person.
:(:(:(, will miss you sooooo much, Deb
HEDGIE!---I have had that same trouble with the bird seed!---When it gets wet--it spoils---birds won't eat it--or at least mine won't!
I'm numb... She taught me so much with out knowing it. She will be really missed. A dear , kind sweet person.
well if we are lucky enough to have eaglets this next season...I will name one of them Deb, in honor of our dear friend
Mits I think that's a beautiful idea.
Watch over us Deb....instill in us forever the profound love for wildlife that you shared so happily with all of us.
♥
Thank you Jo and Helen...
Yes, an eaglet named Deb, and if more than one, one named Sammy...
Prayers for all Deb's family and friends in this loss
thanks.....and yes, we have a beautiful angel watching over us, but, God knows, I am not happy with His decision to take her from us.
And our nest still looks like a heart, now more than ever...
Yes, no snow in heaven....
Norma, Happy Birthday to Davin, and Happy Motherhood day to you ♥
When death comes as expected we plan for it. When death comes a a surprise it takes a while for acceptance. Neither way is easy for we mortals.
On Facebook, I found a great pic of Deb on her profile, holding an osprey. It is a beautiful pic. If I can figure out how, I will put it on our momster page. Can anyone give me a reminder?
so true, Anne-Marie:(
yes, the nest does look like a heart....but our hearts are broken
BBL
yes she was a wonderful photographer.
♥
