3 things for now: 1) Helen is trying to contact Janie about donations in Deb's name. 2) Lynn is putting together a Memorial Book with all your comments either here on the blog or in emails. 3) Offer you condolences on line to the funeral home http://www.2squirrels.com/hansenfuneralhome/view_obituary.php?id=285
I'll call or someone will call Deb's sister Dianne or Pam to get an update on the Memorial to be held.
Oh, my! What a chatty group this morning! I think we are all needing each other today.
Chrissy, your poem was beautiful and very fitting. I think that should be read at Deb's memorial...from us. Of course, it did start the tears all over again.
But, now I am giggling, and snorting with tears running picturing us all at heavens gate with just our eagle beads. That is just a hoot!
Hey, Mits, I understand about mashed potatoes in the middle of the night. Not that I have had them then....but mashed potatoes are my comfort food. Did not know that until my mother was dying....and I was craving mashed potatoes.
this was one of Deb's favorite sites, she posted it for us awhile back, we routinely sent pics back and forth of its beauty, and she was delighted that they had added a new osprey cam this past season
well that link did not work with tiny url, but just goggle glacier national park cams...don't know why it works for me sometimes but not other times...sorry
I was in town this morning, making a short visit to the Right Hand Gal to my lawyer who died in August, who was a good friend as well. When leaving, there was a very noisy bird in the tree next to the office, IN TOWN. By the time I got my clunker eyes focused, it flew off. I do seriously believe it was an immature Cooper's Hawk, based on comparison and sound...
Besides that, it very much resembled the hawk on Deb's photos from September 17, the first one that you see if you open that link. I will have to check later and see if she named that hawk when she posted that day.
You can go to that link off the Momsters Page, is in alphabetical order.... Deb's Blog - Thanks again to Paula for putting that there.
What do you think of this? I know how I felt, seeing a hawk on this morning. xo ♥
You have seen me talk of my "naturalist friend" in New York. I had often shared with him the news of what Deb was seeing on her field trips, and to her, I would share what he was seeing. I must go tell him now of her death. He admired her photography very much. He can view the blog and pictures.
Did You Know....?????? Residents of Palmer Station, Antarctica, used their bright red United States Antarctic Program parkas to send ground-to-air greeting to scientists and flight crew aboard NASA's DC-8 flying science laboratory as it flew over the station during Operation Ice Bridge. One of three U.S. environmental research stations on the continent, Palmer Station is located on Anvers Island halfway down the Antarctic Peninsula. Image Credit: NASA/John Arvesen
Bet Deb would have liked knowing that she shared her name with such a cool (literally and figuratively) place!
We are here to help each other in this group Mits. You got it started and I just happen to get lucky. Thank you for starting the link or I never would have tried it.
Does anyone have Sandy Burk's email address? I need to send her some photos that she was asking about. Thought I had it, so I didn't ask her for it. Please email it to me if you have it. Thanks.
So many good times on here - the racing to get the wax, the joys of seeing our fledged babies come back to the nest, the we-be-jammin to reggae day! Just good times!
PAULA--PAULA---I just saw the photos of our trip on the EAGLE TRAIN!!---I would give my 'right arm' for a copy of them!---The folks at the resturant had asked about them a few times---The cook's boy friend drove the train! I think they are such good pics of DEB!--She looks so pretty----and we all look so happy!
LOLLY----I was so down I didn't even watch the game---NOW THAT IS DOWN!----Those photos of PAULA'S are the most wonderful pics--Brought back the Memories as if happened yesterday!--DEB looks so beautiful!---I am crying now for the 1st time....
Only 1 person in the lab waiting - I lucked out again! I go about every 3 months I get a friendly welcome each time. Then I had hubby stop me for Chipped Beef Gravy and home fries. Yummy food and I was starving - had to fast.
It is so rewarding to hear all of you depending on all the others to give your spirits an uplift in such a sad time. I bet Deb is laughing with us!!
I did not watch the game until the end of the third quarter. Then it finally got my attention. I needed it as I had cried all afternoon.
Norma, you can save those picture by right clicking on them. Then you can print them out. If you are not able to do that I would be more than happy to print and mail them to you.
Hmmm do not make it sound too comfy in that loo IF You really expect her to take turns.
Of course if the loo part of heaven is designed by a woman we know the line will be shorter well because we do have a clue that just maybe there needs to be a few more spaces in a female loo to sit down and read those magazines etc. I think I need some sleep Maybe several of us do.
Wanda, ironic, I had just gotten around to mailing Sandy some pictures from LAST year's Open House, including some of many of you....I know Deb's was in one of the dinner photos... She should get them today, or maybe got them Saturday
Yep, Margy, that turkey was geting on my nerves. Kohl's was playing Christmas music today every few songs...too early for me- had to get out of there. Gotta go help hubby cut down a tree. bbl
With all this talk about a "Heavenly Loo" I always thought that in Heaven you didn't have to worry about worldly things - such as loos or food or bad hair days........ none of that stuff!
You just needed to make sure your beads were on straight & that you didn't forget you fig leaf before strolling through all the beautiful gardens! No rain dances were ever done.
Oh shucks, I got sidetracked. New York friend suggested Merlin on the hawk, I read back and Deb identified her bird as Merlin, the looks match, but the sound didn't, but I am going for Looks ☺ Mits How do you like that! Merlin ! ♥
Martinsburg has its city street Christmas lights up, has for two weeks. Christmas music in the store, would send me right outta there too !
Hi Everyone. Slept late---up and down until 3AM! Finally got my brain functioning enough to write a condolence, then checked emails. Funeral notice of a Classmate! Good grief. He didn't come to Reunion---don't know details. They live in Fairfax, VA.
I had comfort dinner--the rest of it around 1 AM---broiled a tiny steak & then had my key lime pie slice. Baad, baad
Paula, I love that avatar. Yes, I remember seeing that tag line "I came for the eagles..." after someone's name on another forum & I thought, isn't that tthe truth!!! It has certainly been fulfilled by all the togetherness shown the last couple days. BBL
MARGY---The WAX thing was a fun thing we used to do!!----on even 100s---we would yell WAX & send it to someone!---Once there was a race between SHARON & GLO (i think) ---I forget how much each had!
I just tried to call Janie, Deb's friend and co-worker on the SD osprey project...no answer, also e-mailed her, hope to hear something regarding donations that we can send soon. Who knows, it might take awhile, she could be out-of-town...hope not.
Talk about laughing especially when you are not suppose too. When our uncle died. MM, Helen and I were at the service. We were singing a him. We were to sing verse 1,2 and 4. When we get to verse 4 I realize Helen was singing the wrong verse. Tried so hard not to laugh.
yes, Jo I saw that last night when you wanted me to search for Janie's email...I was under the impression, that we were doing individual donations, which would be better, send what you can and just identify yourself as a momster....the brick is for a building they are building...jmho, but sure Deb would hope that any donations would go to the SD osprey project if that is possible. I did not want to call out to Idaho, before now, they are PST time
Jo, what caught your eye on Rodger Isom's page? He is a good friend that I greet each morning and say good night to every evening, or most evenings. He is a fantastic teacher at our New Horizons alternative high school. He can reach those teenagers that others can not. He also plays the guitar and keyboard at church. He is a really neat guy.
Have three loads of wash in the process, have mopped the bathrooms and kitchen. Now waiting for Jack to get off the computer so I can finish Jacobs book. Actually, it is finished but Jack pointed out that I had mispelled Santa Fe. Lovely, just lovely!! Woof! As our Magpie would say!
That reminds me of the Mary Tyler Moore show episode about the funeral service for a clown. Remember??? Is that FB person Deb's Rodger, Jo? Is that Deb in the profile pic with him?
I just had a nice conversation with Deb's friend Janie..her group in Idaho is going to set up something special for their osprey project, and she will send me the details when they have finalize it...she feels quite sure Deb would want to help the osprey, even now....and how much she will miss Deb next season...she was surprised how much we knew about her and Gabby and her injuries this past summer....said they are in desperate need of money and hopeful one day they will have their own special part in the building dedicated to osprey and a plague for Deb....she is hoping that we will think of helping her in the future...say she needs 2 million dollars...lol..told her she would be first on my list when I won the lottery..so for now we will wait for Janie's lead...MTBR
And that's why laughter is the best medicine. Deb wouldn't want us to keep crying. She would want the jokes and laughter and fun memories to ease the grief.
Uh--yep, I'm working....just taking more frequent breaks to hydrate and give my hands/wrists a break! Don't want to be a sore as I was last week----could hardly hold a pencil!!
Norma Wah ! I had not turned the ringer back on yet...so guess what I missed! A phone call... I am headed over the Mountain to see the little guy, maybe Tuesday morning...I'll be up early ☺
Be of good cheer, friends, keep the smiles and hugs going. And keep an eye out for OUR Eagles.
he is there but we did not get into him and his training. she just could not get over how much we know about her....she said and what group are you and how did it get started...said she might like to have a blog or something to get out the news about her osprey...she just was very eloquent of her love for them, and just made me want to write a check right on the spot....she did say, she knew how much Deb loved the eagles...and how she was so amazed how Deb could capture the true pics of the osprey....said they are a hard bird to photograph, but Deb capture the beauty of them
Back with the heavenly loo. I am so glad it will be a womans project. I am so tired of no hooks anymore on the back of door to hang your pocketbook on.
Lynn-Hedgie Ed's daughter called and said guess where I am "I'm at the West Virginia game". Read in comments where your daughter was there too. Be funny if those two were there together.
well slap me with a wet noodle, Paula....we were just in conversation and, she was trying to keep it together..the thought did not enter my mind...and I told her I sent her an email too, and, we agreed it was the correct address , but she did not get it.....
Just got a couple of good shots (I hope) of a pileated.........which reminded me that Deb (and Paula) both gave such good advice when I was choosing my new camera!! Brought another tear to my eye.
Helen, it would be great if we had future contact w/what is going on out there. Been thinking about Roger and Mary, too & wish we could know about their activities.
How on earth did you get in touch? I can't even remember the name of the rehab.
Oh Lynn, I love those pileateds and DID see them more now, but so hard to get a pic. I remember last year that Deb and I talked about her camera---she was the best I know of after Bob Q.
I searched online last night till I found the article on Deb's blog from last spring and Janie's phone # was thankfully at the end of the article...when I was on Deb's blog last night...alot of the pics would not come up for me, but the videos were still there....
Dana, Christie was on the 30 yd. line, 8th row of second tier....but I don't know which side of stadium!!! She ran into 2 people that she used to work with before she even got in the stadium!
Okay...that's enough work for the day....hoping the cloudiness doesn't mean the rain is coming sooner than predicted Weds.! Just have a little touch up to do at end of driveway and in dog yard...........then I might be clear of leaf duty for a couple of weeks---probably will need one more once over lightly before Thanksgiving....looks like mostly just some pin-oak hangers on...and some of them stay until spring. Hoping SIL's bro will come soon to rake acorns out of the mulch, but maybe I'll give it a try tomorrow. Rain will be good after another day---it will tamp down leaves so they won't blow back into cleared areas!!!
Nuts, missed them by 1/2 minute. I see the night light is on, reflecting on old web strands.
I put together in Word, Chrissy's poem w/ Deb's Lib & Belle pic & sent it to SD. Maybe they will read it at Memorial as our tribute to Deb if they wish.
BTW, when I saw the cormorants in the tree at sundown, Sat., I was thinking that people who live near or go to water often have probably seen this before. I never had and I thought, I'll have to ask Deb!...and if they are in SD?
Just sent Andrea an email......we haven't seen her here since our sad news yesterday.........hoping that everything is alright in her corner of the world.
What to fix for dinner....????... had mashed potatoes for lunch---good comfort food. But think I need some protein. Wish I had made some egg salad earlier---but need it good and cold, so guess I'll fix it for tomorrow.
I'd like to have some egg salad Hedgie. I like it at room temp. Of course pasta would be good too. I could use some sauce in the freezer. Or is that already gone? (Yes I do answer myself.) I could have some soup Sharon made. I think it is in the freezer. I'm just saying... : ) I think I will feed the dogs since I know for sure what they get. LOL

Brought this over from the last thread.

Hey, Mits, I understand about mashed potatoes in the middle of the night. Not that I have had them then....but mashed potatoes are my comfort food. Did not know that until my mother was dying....and I was craving mashed potatoes.

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
this was one of Deb's favorite sites, she posted it for us awhile back, we routinely sent pics back and forth of its beauty, and she was delighted that they had added a new osprey cam this past season
My new avatar is title "Eagle Love". Eagle hugs to all ♥
I have seen this statement on another forum, and it was on a plaque in our Open House goodie bag -
"I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made."
Oh, how true. Thank you all for being my friend!
Mits, honey, I just sent you an email! :)
The idea of a Memorial Visit to the nest, is a perfect one.

Did Janie say how Gabby is doing in her educational role training, Mits??
Uh--yep, I'm working....just taking more frequent breaks to hydrate and give my hands/wrists a break! Don't want to be a sore as I was last week----could hardly hold a pencil!!
Norma
Wah ! I had not turned the ringer back on yet...so guess what I missed! A phone call...
I am headed over the Mountain to see the little guy, maybe Tuesday morning...I'll be up early ☺
Be of good cheer, friends, keep the smiles and hugs going.
And keep an eye out for OUR Eagles.
xo ☺ ♥
Margy, if you talk to Norma, you can/may give her my phone number---can't send her an email! She was looking for it earlier.
I could just kick my stooopid butt.
he is there but we did not get into him and his training. she just could not get over how much we know about her....she said and what group are you and how did it get started...said she might like to have a blog or something to get out the news about her osprey...she just was very eloquent of her love for them, and just made me want to write a check right on the spot....she did say, she knew how much Deb loved the eagles...and how she was so amazed how Deb could capture the true pics of the osprey....said they are a hard bird to photograph, but Deb capture the beauty of them
Ok it's a deal !
'bye xo
Back with the heavenly loo. I am so glad it will be a womans project. I am so tired of no hooks anymore on the back of door to hang your pocketbook on.
I forgot to ask Janie about Beauty the bald eagle:(
Your butt is too small to be stupid!! Why do you want to do that, Magpie???
Oh, Mits, what a wonderful conversation it sounds like you had with Janie...sounds perfect.
Did you give her the blog website?
Lynn-Hedgie Ed's daughter called and said guess where I am
"I'm at the West Virginia game". Read in comments where your daughter was there too. Be funny if those two were there together.
Thanks Mits. Want to write a check now also but will try to wait.
Off for appointment - talk with you all later.
well slap me with a wet noodle, Paula....we were just in conversation and, she was trying to keep it together..the thought did not enter my mind...and I told her I sent her an email too, and, we agreed it was the correct address , but she did not get it.....
Mits, you could try her through the website and send her the link.
I am so sorry, but I have forgotten to say that I have sent my prayers to the Riffe family.
Dana, Christie was on the 30 yd. line, 8th row of second tier....but I don't know which side of stadium!!!
She ran into 2 people that she used to work with before she even got in the stadium!
Paula do you mean the NWBOP site...? which is the email I used, or is they a different site?
I had that problem with some of the pics on the web link Deb's Photos, but not on her blog.
Well, Sissy is almost here and I am heading to Bluefield. Will blog from there later. Love you guys!
Broom worked on balcony, despite carpet, so didn't have to lug cord upstairs!
Mits, that is the email address I was referring to....
I viewed Deb's blog last night without any problems.
Well I think its near time for an eagle visit. I surely could use one.
Hello eagle friends.
Hi Tbird.
I think our night light just came on.
hello Thelma:)
Hey Paula and MITS. How have our eagles been today?
Today has been a heavy hearted day. You have all been on my mind.
An eagle on the nest I am so glad to see
Great, a visit. : )
I think this is the first visit since we learned of Deb's passing.
Both of 'em. They knew we needed a visit.
Spidey is visiting too.
It is the first I have seen of them since losing Deb I hope they know we are wanting nestorations for a very special little eaglet this year.
Looks like Belle is doing a little bit of nestorations.
Lib has left the nest.
Both gone:(
Thelma and Glo, glad you got to see our visitors. How special this visit was! Hope some of the others got to see it too!
Yes, it was special to me too Wanda.
Well, eagle peeps, I've got to go clean my tail. : ) See ya in a few. Is that TMI?
I missed the visit...it happened while I was leaving a condolence message....somehow seems appropriate :)
BTW, when I saw the cormorants in the tree at sundown, Sat., I was thinking that people who live near or go to water often have probably seen this before. I never had and I thought, I'll have to ask Deb!...and if they are in SD?
Looks like spidey in the lower right.
Lowreeda - I never knew Heron roosted in trees until I saw it either.
Tbird - Yes!
Just sent Andrea an email......we haven't seen her here since our sad news yesterday.........hoping that everything is alright in her corner of the world.
nice visit...but puter was acting crazy, especially Verizon. mail, so had to shut it down after I watched for awhile
yep...TMI, Thelma....lol:)
Heading home...catch ya'll later.
What to fix for dinner....????... had mashed potatoes for lunch---good comfort food. But think I need some protein. Wish I had made some egg salad earlier---but need it good and cold, so guess I'll fix it for tomorrow.
think it will be pasta tonight...for me...
Paula, when you get home~~~~~cormorants. I checked some bird guides, & they said nothing! (Maybe they didn't see them!!!LOL)
BBL have to do Din Din
**************
Good P.M. to
Everybody.

I am totally bummed by the fact that Deb won't be "talking" to us on this blog anymore.
I think she was as happy to be our friend as we were to be hers, so she was happy with us here to the last moment.
I've got to talk to you later.... Got two birthdays tomorrow. One is my favorite great nephew's, and the second is the 234th birthday of the U.S.M.C.
Take care my friends.

LOL
well don't get confused about the dinner menu, Thelma
By the way, check Alcoa. When I came on-line, it looked as though all had left the nestbox. See what you think.

Jim
I'll try not to MITS. As you can tell it doesn't take much.
Jim, see mama but no chicks---don't think they could all fit under her anymore, so guess they they have fledged!
Amen....Supreme Court turned down Mohammeds death penalty appeal! Tomorrow is the day---sometime late afternoon or early evening.
Thelma, I like my egg salad at room temp too. I also like it with a slice of ham...ummm!
9:00 p.m. tomorrow night...to bad that his victims, did not get a chance for a reprieve...
also many people are sure that there were other victims across the country, besides the 10 he gunned down here.
I will believe it when I hear he is gone.
Well gang, I'm going to go love on some dogs. I hope you all have a good night. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.
Governor can still stop it...
That is what I mean. Still a long way to go before it is done.
