Turtle Bay's eagle cam likely won't be broadcasting again until after Thanksgiving Day.
"We are tentatively planning on having a premier on Dec. 2," said Denise Yergenson, spokeswoman for the California Department of Transportation.
The webcam has been off since June after a series of technical difficulties caused its images online to be choppy and sporadic.
While the bald eagles have been away, Caltrans had workers install a new camera and connect wires to it and the old camera, which will now serve as a backup, Yergenson said. The old camera has sent its signal through a wireless connection that she said was impaired by trees near the nest as they became full with leaves.
Total cost of the new hardware is $42,000, Yergenson said. Images from the webcam will be available at www.turtlebay.org/caltranseaglecam.php.
Good Monday Morning Everyone! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DEB!!!!☺ ♥ ☺ ♥

Yep, Norma, still have cornbread----but will warm it in the microwave so that butter melts on it! Well, gee, Mits, that word about Finland is very disappointing. Loretta, so sorry you have been sick....glad you are on the meds. feel better fast! DEB---go back to last thread for some of your b-day greetings!!

NORMA How about those COWBOYS?!!! Wow! Michael's TV is something else. It really is better than being at the game. However, I was playing a lot with Zach and did not get to sit and watch much.
Michael and Ashley's decorator has purchased a few new pieces of furniture that we had not seen. They have a new sofa and kitchen table and chairs. I like both! They also, have a piece of furniture to hold all the equipment for the audio/TV system through out the house.
Also, I found out they have a cam in the playroom and Michael and Jack were watching me with Zach without my knowledge. Think I can sue? Jack said Michael was watching to see if I abused Zach.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY again DEB!---I would hope you might have the day off-----if not wishing you a FAST DAY!---Glad you are feeling better!---that would be better than any present!---LUV YA!
We are getting Gus in about an hour. Guess I will not be on here much today.
Oh, and our drive home last night was horrible. We started home at 10 in a sprinkle of rain, but shortly we were in a thunder storm. Lightening was horrible and the bottome fell out of the sky. We did not stop, but Jack was creeping along. The lightening created a strobe effect with the windshield wipers. It was WILD! We finally got home at 11:30 and boy were we flooded. An inch and a half of rain, but the ground is so saturated that everything is underwater.
Sharon just signed into FB and saw the first season's photos of our 3 little ones that you posted. Remember your 3 roses! I just thought about that - It is good to jog the old memory ever so often! We three eagle buddies have really been through a lot together... and not only with the eagles!
Jo, I told somebody at Open House about my 3 roses - from Big Boy, Ms. InBetween and our little Spunky! They were sent to me when I was at UVA Charlottesville with the liver abscess! Another time this group sent up some powerful prayers. There have been many powerful prayer times since then for sure!
Interesting article, Paula. Towhees here like black oil sunflower seeds. That's pretty much what we feed all our birds. And cracked corn for the doves and turkeys.
Thank you for bringing this wonderful eagle family for everyone to see. I have been watching these little guys from the start, and like everyone else, am totally fascinated with them. I can't wait for a real-time feed. I'm rooting for the smallest eaglet, "Little-bit".
My first post and I was scared to death to start posting. Don't know what I thought was going to happen.
eagle-eyed sharon said... Okay, the spider is a little scary. It really is hard to see the eagles or anything else for that matter through the white legs and body. Nature is a wonderful thing. Okay, did you guys make provisions for things like this. Like -- how are you going to get the spider away from the camera?
I would have to go searching for my first post. But, I do remember thinking....am I intruding on this group? I quickly learned what a fabulous group this is and I thank God for you each day!
And, Jo, was so wonderful helping me get my live feed up! Bless her and her grandson.
Very interesting article, Paula. Considering the deterrent effort, seems most likely that one of the pair is an original, with a new mate. Too bad they didn't tell "the rest of the story" about Martha and George!!
Judie, does that mean it's time to retire?? Lolly, glad you made it home safe and sound! Anne Marie, weekend visit to Turtle Bay sounds like a great idea! Maybe you need to use that as an incentive for Brandon not to have any more tummyaches on school days!! Does he not like school, or the teacher???
Okay, this was my very first blog.......I have been watching this blog. I have learned so much! This is my first time to watch the eagles and I am hooked! I have a couple of questions. Yesterday there was talk about a snowy owl nest. How do I find it? Also, when I log on to the Colorado nest, it buffers and then stops. Any help with these problems would be appreciated. Thanks! Lolly
And the responses to my questions were wonderful;!
Thanks Lynn. At one time on the trip home I told Jack to pull off the freeway to a side road. We have pillows and lap blankets in the van. I was willing to wait for the rain to stop of at least let up. He plunged on!
I'm finally getting back here. Got a text message from our daughter veeerrry late Saturday night, that they got back home OK. It was a really fantastic visit, but I'm sure missing all of them! Have tried to catch up a bit on the blog, but guess it's almost impossible at this point.
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEB! Hope you're having a spectacular day!
Had a Dr. appt. really early this morning, and got my regular flu shot. They don't have the swine flu vaccine yet, so must keep checking back. Already had the pneumonia vaccine a few months ago. Poor Dr. is coughing like mad, but she is no longer contagious, she's had whatever it is for so long. Hubby is still coughing, but went back to work today. He's feeling much better now, too. Whatever it is that's going around out here seems to last at least 3 weeks before it fades away.
Golly, it never got really cool last night; was still 75 at 11:30pm! Slight Santa Ana winds, they say. Should be nearly 90 today. Where's the fall weather?! I want some of it back.
Well, trying to catch up on wash today--gotta go check the dryer. Will be back in a bit.
Hope you're all having a good afternoon! Enjoy! :o]
MEMA JO OR PAULA---I'll never forget that day!--1st time I met any of you all!!---REMEMBER!--Paula--with her long legs climbed over the fence & we all took bark from the tree---I still have some in the car----ho!
ALSO remember that was when the EAGLES really put on a show for us----I thought I had died & gone to heaven----(still can't remember the other person's name--she was so sharp & is a teacher---
Jim We are all waiting for the list of names for Diego to come online. Then we can vote for one.... I didn't suggest any because I could never find a Chinese translation for Roly Poly! lol
A while ago when they were taking names, I was thinking he is growing out of that 'roly poly' look, and he was. But I'm noticing he must have slowed growing in many directions, because he looks as butter ball like as he did.
Afternoon everyone. Ha! I'm on and caught up. What a beautiful day.
Hear the birdthday gal is not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon Deb and can celebrate later. Anyone close enough to bring her some chicken soup? Maybe we all should make the soup and keep it handy with all the sickness around.
Waiting to see the eagles. Hope I"m at the computer when they stop by.
Tried to check on Diego, but the cam won't come up for some reason. Will have to try again later. Need to go water my thirsty patio plants; will be back in about 20 minutes.
Not good weather here. Has been raining since late last night. Temp is 55! Going to start a pot of stew shortly.
Gus is down for his nap. For a little boy with messed up parents, he sure is a good little boy! He went down like an angle, clutching his blankie and sucking on two fingers.
Done for another day! I'm sure everything will be covered again tomorrow! Found a huge patch of ugly white fungus under the leaves on the mulch---yuck. Tried hard not to breathe in! Now to catch up here!
Diann, Glo is closest to Deb, but not close ENOUGH!!! Chicken soup would be good for her, tho'. Lolly's stew sounds good, too----LOLLY: please don't use tongue! LOL...I'm jealous reading about your old days blogging and cam-watching, gang!! But better late than never. Don't know what my life would be without y'all!!! And don't want to find out!
Yep, Andy....most appropriate sentiment!! So glad you had fun with your family visit....the let-down now is hard, I'm sure. Just have to start planning the next one, right?? Do you have class tonight?
I think it was Lolly said she felt like she would be intruding on the group when she joined the blog. I felt the same way. Expected to be totally ignored like a Cinderella with a gazillion stepsisters. Couldn't have been more mistaken! Thanks everyone :)
Yesterday saw Bambi and her youngster strolling down the street in front of our house toward the busy intersection. Looking for food, I suppose.
Quiet day for me. Just school work.
Having beef brisket tonight -- no tongue in cheeks. Oh, this morning news there was a truck overturned which dumped a huge amount of beef on the interstate. Hope no vegans were nearby.
Down to 54 now. It is miserable out. Yep, the stew is going to hit the spot. I put dumplings in my stew, too. The family loves it that way. It is on the stove now and the house is smelling good.
Told Jack he is falling down on his duty...no dry firewood. He said he going to have to have a dry day to get some. We have lots of firewood out behind his shop...in the rain. He moves it a little at a time to the covered patio.
Stopping by to say Hi and to wish Deb a Happy Birthday. Think I will pull up the pop up cam and hopefully catch a few nestorations. Been very busy going through lots of pictures since Dex and I returned from our "voyage"
Bark Bark It sure does get around. A fine feathered friend actually even managed to get some bark all the way to Illinois and you bet I have it here too and turtle skeleton bones or some such argh!!! LOL
lol Bark Bark I remember that one! One of my kin picked up my piece of bark and asked "What is this?" They got the whole story! Miss You! I have my Christmas cards ready to address! Looking forward to yours
I am home for a short lunch. I am feeling much better, but so thirsty!
I remember my first post was a question and Mits helped me out. Then I didn't post again for awhile, just lurked before joining in. Not sure what the question was, I think about BWO.
Judie The trip was wet most of the time but Dex did well. It was quite long to me anyway and the rain didn't help. Visiting with family was great and had lots of time with my son who took me to Savannah a couple of times and out to Jeckyll Island to watch the sunrise on the ocean on Sat morning. Not much foliage where I was either I was on the early side but did stop in Gatlinburg and pigeon Forge just to say I had been there. MeMa Jo You know I get to send mine first :-) LOL. I might be slower this year I am retired you know and way behind on stats at work LOL.
My team at work won a bowling party, so that is where I will be tonight. Free food, some fun and a gift card--will have to find out what the gift card is for.
The Northwest Pilots who overshot a Minnesota runway by 150 miles last week told investigators they were using their personal laptops in the cockpit, a violation of company policy, according to a National Transportation Safety Board advisory.
Deb, sounds like a fun evening! So glad you won't be home alone on your birthday!! Please put my mind at ease......did you get a card fromme via USPS???? In case you missed posts---I got all shook up thinking I sent it to Suz instead of you...but she says she didn't get it.......so please tell me you did!
Afternoon Everyone. See Still cam is working....now our pair have to visit! Deadskins are playing tonight against Phila. Let's see what they can do with a new play caller.
The eagles were here right after the lunch hour so they may be here right after the dinner hour........ I have finished eating - so come on Lib & Belle!

If I lived close to you Deb, I would fix a wonderful dinner for you. (With the birthday dessert of your choice!)

Norma Jim said he sent you an email and that it wasn't returned! Does
that mean that your email is Up/Running?
Lolly Have you opened the pps that I sent to you about the Balloon Festival that Genie sent me. Some of you pics are of the very same balloons!
Sharon just signed into FB and saw the first season's photos of our 3 little ones that you posted. Remember your 3 roses! I just thought about that - It is good to jog the old memory ever so often! We three eagle buddies have really been through a lot together... and not only with the eagles!

the otters are out and about playing at NZ
Thanks Mits - Will go check them out!
Love the little critters.
I would have to go searching for my first post. But, I do remember thinking....am I intruding on this group? I quickly learned what a fabulous group this is and I thank God for you each day!
And, Jo, was so wonderful helping me get my live feed up! Bless her and her grandson.
How on earth are you guys finding these first posts...
Megan,
Hit 2006 on the blog page and then older posts....
You have to read thru them to find your first one
Very interesting article, Paula. Considering the deterrent effort, seems most likely that one of the pair is an original, with a new mate.
Too bad they didn't tell "the rest of the story" about Martha and George!!
I am back to 2006 June
I think I need to go back to April...
If I see ya Megan I'll holler........
And there was another Lolly earlier, too.
And Jo was the first one to cll the littlest one the name Spunky and Sharon called the eldest Big Boy.
Lynn - sounds like the female is new at Turtle Bay
Didn't see Megan in April
alright, just holler
Judie, does that mean it's time to retire??
Lolly, glad you made it home safe and sound!
Anne Marie, weekend visit to Turtle Bay sounds like a great idea! Maybe you need to use that as an incentive for Brandon not to have any more tummyaches on school days!! Does he not like school, or the teacher???
they were just showing the red pandas on the panda cam....person should wait till the sun is going down and you can really see their red coats.
Got my insurance all arranged for next year....sounds good....time will tell.
Okay, out I go....it's 55, with just a little air stirring. BBL!
Finally found where I first blogged. It was late Feb 2008. This is one of my first!
Hi! :) Glad I finally decided to speak up! I have been watching all eagle cams for the past month and have learned so much from this group. Lolly

I found Mema Jo on 4/10 (There was a pic on 4/3/2006 but no comment)
Sharon, Vicky, Glo, Nilla and Paula were there with me!
I said MEMA Jo said...
Ever since you first announced a change coming - I have been hoping for 'real time' coverage. Thank you ever so much. Now I won't have to wonder about the oldest eaglet between the refreshes as to whether or not he fell out of the nest. It is really breathtaking when I see him/her perched on the edge as though he sure is anxious to get out of there and see where mom and dad goes! Now you can work on placing a 'zoom' lens on the cam! Right?!

CHANG 昌, 畅, 长 m & f Chinese
From Chinese 昌 "flourishing, prosperous" (which is usually only masculine), 畅 "smooth, fluent" or 长 "long"
GANG 刚 m Chinese
Means "strong" in Chinese.
So Chang Gang is what I submitted!
Good idea AML. Could be something very little that is bothering him.
Hope I"m at the computer when they stop by.
... later
Eagle at BWO just poofed.
Kids are on their way to the stadium...going to do some tailgating before the game :)
Anne Marie - we are watching the 30 second cam!

Hi, Diann,
Chicken soup's a good idea! Will have to make some. Like your avatar! What a cute kitty!
There's an eagle at BWO on the left side...might have been there...the one on the right poofed
Sycamore tree is really dropping leaves now...can see the building behind the barn!
Nice weather for tailgating.
It is looking very fall-like at the nest, with the leaves changing color. Wish I could see them in person! Very pretty!
Make that Angel....lol not angle.
You're right, Lynn! The eagles may have brought us together, but we all stayed because of the friendships we've made! Can't say it often enough!
Lynn, you've been here longer than I have, so don't feel like a late-comer! We're all here NOW, that's what's important.
Lolly, with the weather you're having, stew sounds great! Somethin' to warm up your innards really well. Hmmmm... wish I lived closer!
Trying to find my first post----slow-go! Know the month, but no idea the date!! Interesting seeing names that no longer join us!
I have sent a lot of people on a history digging day! I wouldn't trade anybody past or present for anything in the world!
Keep at it, Lynn. It takes a while to find the right blog. Made me sad to see Suzanne's posts. Sure to miss her on the blog.
Yep, Andy....most appropriate sentiment!! So glad you had fun with your family visit....the let-down now is hard, I'm sure. Just have to start planning the next one, right?? Do you have class tonight?
Back for a late afternoon visit.
Missed all critters today. Timing is waaaay off.
Will check in later.
Judie
Down to 54 now. It is miserable out. Yep, the stew is going to hit the spot. I put dumplings in my stew, too. The family loves it that way. It is on the stove now and the house is smelling good.
Told Jack he is falling down on his duty...no dry firewood. He said he going to have to have a dry day to get some. We have lots of firewood out behind his shop...in the rain. He moves it a little at a time to the covered patio.
Forgot to add.....no, no, no, no t....... stew!!!
Gus has been asleep now 2 hours! Wow! But then it is a good day to nap!
Not many more leaves left to fall at the Snowman Cam.
LOL
lol Bark Bark
I remember that one! One of my kin picked up my piece of bark and asked
"What is this?" They got the whole story!
Miss You!
I have my Christmas cards ready to address! Looking forward to yours
Hey, Glo. Maybe I missed it, but how was the visit? How's Dex?
Andy, are you back to the routine of school and studying? Are you going to have tons and tons to catch up?
Think any left over beef will make a nice beef stew. Weather is supposed to start getting colder/wetter this week.
Judie
I am home for a short lunch. I am feeling much better, but so thirsty!
I remember my first post was a question and Mits helped me out. Then I didn't post again for awhile, just lurked before joining in. Not sure what the question was, I think about BWO.
Found it!! April 14th!!
Hello birthday girl:) Glad you're feeling better.
I might be slower this year I am retired you know and way behind on stats at work LOL.
well, Deb, glad the cat did not have my tongue that day;)>
My team at work won a bowling party, so that is where I will be tonight. Free food, some fun and a gift card--will have to find out what the gift card is for.
Later!!
I will find it later, sometime in June of 2007 I think.
Hello everyone, how are my eagle friends?
Happy, happy birthday Deb. I hope you are treating yourself to something special.
Guess what???? SIL does firehall cooking when he's on shift...tonight he's making Pizza Casserole!! Sure hope all those guys like it!!!
The Northwest Pilots who overshot a Minnesota runway by 150 miles last week told investigators they were using their personal laptops in the cockpit, a violation of company policy, according to a National Transportation Safety Board advisory.
Idiots:(
Heading home.
Eagle at BWO if you need a fix!
Time for some nourishment.
Afternoon Everyone. See Still cam is working....now our pair have to visit!
Deadskins are playing tonight against Phila. Let's see what they can do with a new play caller.
