Sorry, Deb....I was rooting for Twins. Hope the x-ray is negative, but then she may need an MRI the first of the week! Most small hospitals don't have MRI techs round-the-clock---dumb! Our insurance now claims they won't pay for ER unless you are admitted.......can't understand what kind of sense that makes----fractures and lacerations rarely require admission but usually aren't treated in Drs. offices----duh!
Just so sorry Sissy didn't do a good split! I sure hope she is going to be able to endure the pain - has to hurt. If she had a break they could fix it!
I have the Pix Pa cam on and keep hearing the rain there. I have to check from time to time to see if it is raining here. My poor back porch flowers got too dry. I do not know if they will recover. Have been kind of distracted the past couple of weeks.
I remember taking BC/BS to court. The judge decided in our favor. Youngest son had broken leg and I had all my figures down on charges/payments and I was so determined NOT to pay what they said I owed when I said a different figure. I paid my very very small figure (under $100).... I WON !
Man oh Man! Those raccoons at Pix sure are fed well. They really found their Heaven!
By the way Has anyone see the moon like before it started to rain. I am fearful that they destroyed our moon. Has anyone seen any film footage from the 2nd camera
We have had blizzards that shut down Halloween before, but this shouldn't amount to more than a couple inches. It is way too early here too. Temps are 25 below normal for this time of year.
Way to go, Jo!!! Insurance companies rule this country, and they stick it to us whenever they can. I tell everyone: get an itemized statement from every provider, and KNOW what your plan covers, and then examine everything carefully---and be armed to fight!
One year - many many moons ago - we did have an Oct snow. Very little and as you say didn't stay on ground as the leaves were still there. But it is such a peaceful thought to hear First Snowfall - as long as it isn't here until Christmas eve.
From time to time we teachers appreciate a snow day! Sometimes we are worse than the kids. We just do not admit it to the general public. It is nice to wake up in the morning and hear the school closings and roll over and go back to sleep.
Of course, now the phone rings because they call everybody on an automatic system.
A couple of inches can close schools here. I am sure that is not the case in South Dakota. I lived in Ohio for years and it was quite different from Virginia when it comes to snow days.
Sorry, Deb, that snow is falling. 25 degrees below normal is a pretty substantial unseasonal temp! Ours haven't been anywhere near that off! Guess Margy really did log off! Good night, Margy, and Judie, too. Has anyone else turned in? Andy should be coming on pretty soon---that girl sure doesn't get enough sleep, either!!
One last Happy B-day wish to Norma before the clock strikes MN! Sure that she is tucked in tight---no WV night game to keep her up! So thankful that Davin is doing so well....amazing that someone is back to work 2 wks. after open heart surgery!
Talking to Sis now. She says she her foot and leg are hurting a lot. Waiting on the results of the x-ray. But she says she is okay and thanks for the prayers everybody.
For some reason my hotmail.com has frozen on me. Have a message waiting but can't get to it! Just in case it is one of you, at least you know I am not ignoring you! It's all technical!
Maybe Wanda headed to the bachelorette party, since the entertainment was gonna be so good..lol... See, I hope they don't find water on the moon, cause if they do that will give them an excuse to mess with it more. Think we should leave the moon alone. JMO Hope Sissy is okay, Sharon. I'm outa here, past my bedtime.
Yeah, I want to know about the guy in the costume. I started reading some of those messages while my students were working on assignments, but have to be careful. Do not want to share everything I read with the kids.
Funny thing--I read a girl's college essay. She started off beautifully, but then went on to write about how she wanted to be on the equestrian team and in a sorority. She forgot to say anything about academics. I suggested that she might want to add something about what she wants to study.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this one gets in somewhere. Can't help thinking of Judie.
I am getting ready for bed now myself. Waiting on 11:30 so I can get a free coupon from Herbal Essence. Will post any news from Sissy and no, Megan, nothing coming through tonight but look out tomorrow. I will have to make up for today!
Your wish is my command! GeeGee had appt. with eye doctor. Has a case of Macular Degeneration which I didn't know about. Nothing to be done about it and doesn't seem to affect her in any way.
Gene had a very good day at the shop while I was galavanting around! I forgot to ask him if our BACHLORETTE PARTY guy came around. Will find out tomorrow.
Poor Sissy...hope this doesn't ruin her Open House plans:(
I sent an email card to Miss Norma, forgot she doesn't get her email...so: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU NORMA HOPE YOUR DAY WAS A BEAUTIFUL ONE WITH DEER, RABBITS, AND SQUIRRELS AND BIRDS EVERYWHERE! (((HUGS TO YOU)))
OH, NO, SHIRLEY...not stringing you all along. I'm very quick to share things with you all. When I got home, I had Dustin with me and there were customers in the shop...Gene was so excited because he made some very nice sales while I was gone. Didn't have a chance to talk. Then we had supper and watched some TV and now the Capt. is in bed asleep:(
2 inches of snow doesn't close school unless wind and temp are really bad. If the temps are below zero with wind and snow, they don't like buses on the roads.
Doc told Sis she has a bone bruise and to expect pain for 6 weeks. She is heading home now. She says thanks in advance for the continued prayers. Good night and I am going to bed now. Love you all! Good night Megan!
I'm still up - trying to clear off my dinning table before Sunday - I think that is when the kids are coming over for cake & ice cream. Have I ever let you in on my secret: I ♥ Family!
Hi, Gang, I've made it home from school. Think I did OK on tonight's Anatomy test; it didn't seem quite as hard as the one last week in this class. Gosh, seems like all I did this week was homework! If that isn't studying, I don't know what! Boy, we've got a lot of prayer needs today! Sorry to hear about Sissy! Hope all will be OK. I have a prayer request for my BIL, Joe--he had a complete knee replacement yesterday! I thought it was to be next week. He's doing OK, but partying hearty on a morphine drip! We're going to visit him tomorrow, and go out to dinner with my SIL. Guess what! We can pick our car up from the dealership tomorrow morning--the transmission job has been completed! I sure will be glad to have my wheels back. Prayers for Dorset, Reese, Shirley, and Dana & Ed (does anyone have their phone number?) I hope we hear from them soon!
Well, think I'm gonna call it a day. I'm about done. Really need a good night's sleep, especially with all there is to accomplish this weekend. The kids will be here next Thursday!!!!! Oh--sorry. It's just that we haven't seen them in over a year and a half! It's getting hard to contain myself, but I'll try. Hope you all have sweet eagle dreams, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. The night light is on (but not near Judie), the porch light is automatic, and the eye-scanner lock is enabled. If you come in late, please don't slam the door, and be sure to tiptoe in! Thanks! G'night, all. :o]
I had a down modem for quite a while---no idea why....maybe solar flares! Oh... maybe MOON belches (revenge for being bombed!) Glad that Wanda has checked in but will have to wait to see if there IS a stroy to tell or not. Glad that Sissy doesn't have a fracture, but sometimes bone bruises take longer to stop hurting than fractures do! Sis: Remember R.I.C.E. Hope you get a decent nights sleep, poor girl. Andy, glad test went well, and that you get your car back in the morning. Definitely adding your BIL to prayer list----will he have to do a week or two of in-patient therapy like older folks do? And, dear friend, you may get as excited as you want about the kids comng---we don't mind at all, and we'll even do the haqppy dance with you!!! Calling it a day here. Goodnight, fine folw friends. Prayers and peace.
Good morning. Slept well and feel refreshed this morning. Gotta take a book on CD's back to the library this morning. Funny thing, I recommended it to Kathryn, so she put it on reserve, now I can't renew! I'm finished anyway, so it's no problem.
I need to tackle the assignments for my on-line classes.
GOOD MORNING AGAIN. I AM HOPPING A TRAIN AND HEADING TO WEST VIRGINIA. MEGAN, TODAY IS A NEW DAY! TRAIN, PAT MONAHAN, TRAIN, PAT MONAHAN!!!!! Will check back in this evening. I haven't heard from Sissy yet this morning.
Drive that train carefully, Shar! Can you stay in your own house, or will you be at Bev's? Glad you get to be with your handsome boy. Very windy here again....boo!
When I looked outside this morning, I saw leaves littered all over the back yard. Windy night!
Started reading assignments for my daily imaging class. Going to have to think about how to organize everything. I will need to print some articles and keep them in a folder. I like to underline and write in the margins. Need to have stuff on paper.
Wanda, saw your ad in this mornings' paper---eye-catching with the lovely fall colors!!! Someone asked a couple of days ago--but you must have missed it--so I will answer that the name of Wanda's shop is "Countryside Costumes"!!!
Saw some birds I have never seen before. They were black, so I thought they were maybe grackles or starlings, but when they flew the underside of the wing was bright red. I do not think redwing blackbird--the red was on the underside. Any ideas?
That's a tough bird question, Shirley....thinking and nothing comes to mind! Sounds pretty though!
Good Morning Everyone, Good Fall Day here, Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, and Heritage Days in Hedgesville, so if you are headed west or east on Route 9, well, keep that in mind...
Well, we have Eagle Canes, wonder if there is an Eagle Walker, or Eagle Tri-Pod...to help our little Sissy out in her travels...or maybe I can share my Scooter Store mail with her ☺
I get those scooter store ads, too, Margy. Might have needed one. I tripped over the hose and fell in the wet grass on the slope in my back yard. Would have been a mess if I had been hurt because I am the only one home, but I do have neighbors and I can shout.
Jo was wondering about the name of the Costume Shop also.
Back to old questions: Lynn when I commuted to Washington, I worked for a law firm, Wilkinson, Cragun and Barker, right next to the Octagon Building on 19th Street near E, three blocks from the Corcoran Gallery and we were in the American Institute of Architects Building. Also not far from the Federal Office Building. I was the File Room Supervisor.
When did you fall, Shirley ??? Glad you were not hurt. Yeah, I can shou too if I take a fall here, always take the phones with me if I go outside, and when taking a tubby ☺ You just never know when something could happen.
Just about half an hour ago, I guess. I always feel foolish when I fall like that. I don't think I injured anything--might have a small bruise on my knee. Yes, a phone would have been nice to have.
I sometimes take my phone with me when I go on duty at school, and I have used it there to report a fight on a school bus or an uncooperative kid in the restroom.
Shirley I have Dana's number and will check in with her later this morning. We had a nice long talk a week ago, and she was knee-deep in doctor's and pharmacy things. She knows we are thinking of her... also, last Sunday, some of Ed's family were to be there for a surprise two-day late Birthday Party for Ed.....
Okay, see that Shirley.... Yes phones are pretty important. I hate to feel attached at the rib to them, but have come to learn how important it is to be able to call out in an emergency....
and right now I can't be away from phones, am on telephone watch with my sister, who is waiting for the doctor this morning and an update on her treatment plan. I am about ready to go to Massachusetts...
After a neighbor fell on the ice and broke her femur last winter, I decided to always carry a phone with me when I go outside....and, I , too, put one next to the tub when I take a bath----neither because of missing a call, but to call for help if needed. Shirley, sure hope you didn't hurt yourself! Be careful out there----and watch out for wet leaves and acorns---both are slippery!! Interesting job, Margy! You were sure young!
Just as an info thing, I have a brother in Florida, another one lives in Frostburg, but is in transit from Saint Louis, sister in Annandale, sister in Ruxton Md near Baltimore, one in Roanoke, and I am here....so we are rather scattered, and no one is close to the one in Massachusetts, but as I mentioned before, "Roanoke Mary" will go up if needed, she is retired and knows how to travel... My other sister who used to live here in Berkeley County, died in December 2007.
One of the classes I have been taking at the W/CTR is designed to teach one balance, etc---When I was working & wore heels---'i would often 'trip the light fantastic'---more than I care to remember!!
I was happy to have figured out how to use it to get help at school. I just call the main number that is in my phone list and talk to the receptionist. She is the one person who is almost always at her desk and she is very quick to get help.
With the kid in the restroom, though, an administrator got overexcited and called in security, the nurse, the police, and I don't know who else. He came running around the corner whith this scared expression on his face and the kid was sweet as honey to him.
Turns out she was skipping class, but she cursed at me. I was relieved when the administrator admitted he had overreacted. Better to do that than to let me get beat up in the girls' restroom, though!
Lynn, I was 26 at the time. I also worked at Bechtel Corporation in Shady Grove before that. For a time I lived in Brentwood, MD, off Route 1 just shy of the DC/MD line. When I rode the train, the commute total time was at least 5 hours daily...I read a lot of books, and did some sleeping on the train.
Norma you must take a gander at the shoes in the Vogue Magazines....unbelieveable...talk about high heels! Woof ! Megan had a crazy shoe as an avatar for awhile..kinda like those.
MARGY---sending up EAGLE PRAYERS for you & your sister--DORSET!---(is she related to the former COWBOY STAR---TONY DORSET??---ho!----I think he may spell his name with 2 tts!---He could really play ball!!----
Elisabeth (with an S), Frederick, Anne, Mary, Jane Dorset, Katherine, John and Margaret, that's the line-up from top to bottom, with Kathy gone now... parents were Frederick and Florence.
Local High School did the program "Megan's Challenge" this past week, regaring the tragedy in Columbine several years back. I hope some of the Encouragement from the program, sticks..... it is much needed everywhere.
Thank you Norma...my parents chose some interesting middle names. The accent is on the first syllable. My grandson when he talks of her, says he has an Aunt named Dorset, but it does not mean she Sits on a Door ☺
My goal while on phone watch today is to do some much needed house cleaning...good way to work off stress..found so many dust bunnies last night I am either going to have to feed them, or scoot them out the door !
Talk to you folks in a little while.
Best Wishes, for a Great Day. Prayers for wellness, peace, joy, serenity, safety, and comfort.
Great Ad in the Journal about Countryside Costumes complete with directions! Nice going Gene and Wanda! and thanks for the tip, Lynn.
Also the Hedgesville Eagles Football Team wore some pink on their uniforms/helmets last night, in honor and recognition of Cancer victims... and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month - The team lost their (homecoming) game, but they won the hearts of many, no doubt. Go Eagles ! ♥
Yep. He said he overheard part of the receptionist's conversation and went into action. You never know when you might need all of that help. When they start cursing at you, they could punch you in the face. Administrator said that they sometimes have girls go in the restroom and get really sick. This one was just hiding out.
Yes, Lynn...I used to walk to the bus station at Rhode Island Ave ...not by myself of course... lived there for a little while and commuted to downtown, then moved out to Hedgesville and started taking the train.
Shirley - the kid brought it upon herself...she took what she wanted, and paid for it... When you lie down with the dogs, you wake up with the fleas. I guess this applies...better to be safe than sorry !
So sorry Sissy fell and glad it wasn't more serious.
Margie, hope there will be good news from Mass.
Oh my gosh! I just realized why you all couldn't see the moon last night -- it was on the TRAIN headed for W.V. Oh, now I see that Sharon hopped on board for a short trip. Wonder if PAT MOYNAHAN there with her?
Returned to VA after 15 years in OH and could NOT believe my ears when the radio announcement said schools were closed in ANTICIPATION of snow. Wimps!
Shirley, take care and take a phone with you.
Okay, now on to try to complete grading the final 50+ assignment answers. It's going to be another very loooooong day. Overcast and windy.
Good Morning All! Slept a little later than usual.. All those meds yesterday must have put me down. Feeling well this morning! Thank goodness for concerned medical personal I sure hope Dorset soon gets the right answers! Margy let us know if you reach Dana. Shirley you can't always know your over reacting in those school situations anymore. Too scary to think what could have happened. Hope the youngster learned a lesson. My phone goes with me for emergency use at all times. Sharon - Safe journey to Bluefield and enjoy your days with family. I don't see Helen or Ceil this am and I hope Anne Marie is safely home. Now to see if my hotmail is still messed up!
Margy, my grandparents lived just a little ways down the street--one block from Rhode Island and Eastern Ave. intersection until '66, and then "crossed the line" into Hyattsville, but Grams always did her grocery shopping in Brentwood. They bought their house there in 1923.
On weather situations and schools . . . one day when I was a stay-at-home mom, a storm blew up and it sleeted like crazy. It was just before school was to be dismissed, and I knew that the bus would take my children all around the area before dropping them off, so I hopped in the car and went to get them.
While I was there, I thought I should pick up next-door kids, too. A phone call to their mom got me permission. The roads were awful, but I got everyone safely home. The kids on the bus did not get home until after 9:00 that night. It was a story for the newspapers.
I will say that all of the years living in Ohio game me the confidence to hop in the car with the roads such a mess.
Okay, Game Time....Dorset is headed for surgery within the hour..time to get the insides taken care of... Thanks, folks, I know I have your prayers on this one.
Just mixed up a cucumber salad....barely had enough sugar---had to rob the sugar bowl...hate when that happens! Gotta go down to the basement pantry and hope that I have more---wanted to make the pizzelles tomorrow for one of our desserts!! (They keep well.)
Well, one was the Ferry I think and the other was the flat boat... sure I saw one going left to right then looked again and there was the Ferry going left to right...
Megan - some of my flowers from the bouquets, have dried nicely and I have them in no-water vases....so exquisite ☺
And I see Shirley has joined the club...I fall down at least once a month around here, usually in the garden, usually cause I'm in too much of a hurry. Last time I bounced downt the steps hubby watched me go...usually I have no audience. Just got back from picking up my eggs and sweet potatoes, and a pork loin for tomorrow.
Cool, Margy:) I didn't dry a lot of flowers this year, but my table is covered with various containers of seed drying out so we can put them away for next season.
Nope---no sugar. Will have to make a run to the local Mom'n'Pop this afternoon. SIL's bro has not shown up---but guess it's a little too windy to cut down trees and clean the chimney. But he could be cutting up the trees he took down back in May and get the wood pile moved back under the deck and rake acorns....argh!!
Megan, me like a dumb dodo, did not save any yellow marigolds for seeds :( I guess I was headstrong about getting the new garden boxes ready. Got some nice yellow/orange ones from sister in Annandale the other day though.
Oh, Hedgie...Norma can relate to Son In Law Tales ! Hope he arrives and gets 'er done.
DANA AND ED UPDATE
I just called, Ed answered, he and Dana are hanging in there, sitting on each end of the couch talking about their dogs. Told Ed about the Mountaineer game at noon, he will try to find it on TV, but will watch college football either way somewhere on the tube.
Also, he is for anyone BUT the Yankees, so we can put him in Deb's camp. His team, the Pirates...last place....so he doesn't really care too much one way or the other.
Did not talk to Dana, but did pass along all our well-wishes and prayer thoughts for them both.
well, pork loin just sounded good, I just read the meat selection sign, and it jumped out at me:) Thanks for checking on Dana and Ed, I sent her an email a while ago, but never heard back.
I was a little surprised Dana did not get on the phone, but I asked Ed if she was smiling, he said, a half smile...:( And their dogs are a great comfort to them....
They have been getting cards, I know they enjoy that....regarding emails, Dana told me last week that she opens them up to keep the system running, but has not had time to read any of them :(
I worry, but my sister reminds me, If I pray, why worry, and if I worry, why pray ? I know there is some wisdom in that. I'm just not that wise sometimes.
I had pork chops last night, and have a complete meal for leftovers ☺ TTFN xoxox
Margy, you took the words right out of my mouth! Finland is just beautiful! Good Morning, Everyone! Prayers for Dorset! OOPS-- gotta run; we're going to pick up the car! Will be back to say a proper good morning in a while. :o]
Hi everyone. As far as I know Annie is not in labor. She is do the 19th if she does not go before then. They have her schedule for the 19th. They induced Molly on her due date. Thanks for thinking of her. Please keep them in your prayers.
Had a friend that when her dil was close to her due date we walked our feet off. She did not deliver for two weeks and had to have a C-section. I'm doing a Margy. BBL Love you too Margy. Already packing my suitcase for next week
Margy, you are a sweetie. Wonder why Dana didn't talk to you? Did you ask about open house??? She hasn't responded at all to any of my emails or ecards. Think Ceil said she had to go into the office this am, but maybe she'll be home soon and let us know what's up with Mits....hate to call her in case she IS at hospital.
Margy---the SIL's bro calls me Mommy Riner---so I call him Donald-Son. Hard and good worker, but not the most dependable as far as on-time goes! Thanks for saying you would if you could, but no need---Country Roads store is closeby!
My emails are coming in and are readable. I didn't tell you that I was going over to the Post Office and to run an errand. I'm back and have read comments. Yes In Deed - Prayers are for Dorset! Concerned about update from Dana & Ed. Ed sounded good when I had called one week but wish Dana could have taken the phone. So Ceil didn't really say where Mits was. I had received an OC boardwalk email around 8:45 this morning. Not too worry -- Annie has a regular appointment on Monday - Maybe that will start things moving for her they haven't started already.
Hi Ya, everything quiet here....been doing some reading, and laundry....no calls yet so, Ben is still cooking, will be going to mass and probably out to dinner tonight...got football game tomorrow
Hey, glad to see Ceil on, but wish Mits WAS at hospital!!! Too bad.....maybe later...:) Gee, guess we are all in a pork mood! Jo, I know what you mean about Dana....wish she had talked to Margy. Margy, it's a strange little place, and I don't get many things there---always check the dates! But....I feel sorry for her. She's a strange nut, but she lived in our development in Falls Church when we were kids---didn't know her then, but went to school with her kid...my sister got to know her a bit when she moved to Morgan Co. back in '90 and said she has a hard row to hoe. So..........I try to be nice to her and hope that maybe I cheer her a bit with a little banter.
You will, Lynn, you will, I also understand from son in law, that there have been some rough spots, and, like many women we know, she has given much to many others...last time I was in there, was a strange visit and I might have gotten a poor impression. Go have yourself a M.A.D visit ☺
SD ZOO PANDA: At two months old, our male giant panda cub is doing well. Following Chinese tradition, the little guy will be bestowed a name after he is 100 days old. But what name? Panda Cub: Name Game Posted at 12:42 pm October 6, 2009 by admin Visitors to the San Diego Zoo will have an opportunity to name the cub. Beginning Saturday, October 10, through Monday, October 19, we are asking the community to visit the Giant Panda Research Station to suggest a name. The names should be in Chinese (Pinyin), have an English translation, be symbolic in meaning, and delivered in person to the panda exhibit October 10–19.
For those who cannot come to the Zoo during that time, we’ll also be offering a special link where you can submit your name suggestion, following the same naming criteria listed above. We’ll post that link as soon as it’s ready. After this 10-day period, the Zoo’s giant panda team, comprised of keepers, veterinarians, scientists, and others, will choose several names from suggestions made by Zoo visitors. The Chinese Wildlife Conservation Association will then review the selected names. Once approved, the names will be posted on our Web site and on our Facebook page for a final vote by the global community. Check the Panda Cam page for updates on when to vote online. The name that receives the most votes will be announced at a ceremony held at the Zoo on Tuesday, November 17, when the cub is 104 days old. We look forward to your name suggestions!
Margy---I found a box of unopened chocolate-covered cherries yesterday that I had bought before Christmas. Opened them and they were okay, BUT instead of just maraschino cherry juice, they had a white cream, too---yuck. Pitched them! Another load of laundry done, one more to go. Donald-son called and will be here shortly.
Jo, Jim had posted the other day about those updates---when I read them, I also saw some blog comments---like is there a Chinese word for Roly-Poly?? LOL!!! Margy, sometimes she is in a fine, sociable mood, and other times she is just as dour as can be.
Margy...law enforcement call at request of CSX for debris on track near Rock Cliff--they want L.E. presence so that culprits will see that it's been reported and maybe won't do it again! Wonder what the debris is??: Certainly could be a dangerous situation!
Hi! I'm Baaaaaaack! Hubby's driving the Honda with the new tranny home to see how it works. I went & picked up 2 prescriptions on the way home, and NOW...to do HOUSEWORK and YARD WORK!!!! I'm tanked up on caffeine, and ready to rock & roll! Looks like Margy & I are on the same page when it comes to that subject. Gosh, we even called & scheduled a carpet cleaning for next week--THAT might cause it to snow here, or something. Look out! Prayers continuing for everyone. Gotta clean! BBL LOL :o] :o]
I've been meaning to comment for several days that the Old Faithful site has been showing at least light snow and has had subfreezing temperatures now.
Beautiful scene, but somehow I have constantly missed the geyser erupting lately.
Just found out that former coworkers' cousin Teddy Tedholm did NOT make it into the final 20 of So You Think You Can Dance....too bad. Very talented young man.
Grandson just called from South Carolina, sounds like he is having the adventure of a lifetime! First words after Hi Grammy, was: "There are a lot of birds." He is taking lots of pictures.
I have been trying to google Language translations from Eng to Chinese for Roly Poly & also Diego. But they give me results in writing it out not another name......
Of course, I am radio only...might deal with the converter box after some dust bunny action, and after updates from Massachusetts... will call up to the hospital in a little while....
Could be, Jo, I knew she was to be off Saturdays and work Sundays now...saw her post about the snow, this morning, but she didn't mention what her day included.....
And then I guess there is another day off somewhere in the middle of the week...her schedule is as confusing as mine !
Hi, went upstairs to take a shower and the bed was so tempting I took a panda nap too. Still haven't gone out to do errands. I see that Margy talked with Ed and Mits checked in.
I'm going in search of food, but no pork in my refrigerator, so I guess I'll munch on some shrimp.
I just called up to the nurse's station in Mass., surgery is over, nurse could only tell me that "it went well." Dorset is still in recovery, and I will find out more in a few hours. Nice nurse named Kathy with a wonderful Massachusetts accent...

Yes, Mema Jo, you did a lovely split!
I have to agree, it's as if you had trained for it...hahaha
Sorry, Deb....I was rooting for Twins.
Hope the x-ray is negative, but then she may need an MRI the first of the week! Most small hospitals don't have MRI techs round-the-clock---dumb!
Our insurance now claims they won't pay for ER unless you are admitted.......can't understand what kind of sense that makes----fractures and lacerations rarely require admission but usually aren't treated in Drs. offices----duh!
Just so sorry Sissy didn't do a good split! I sure hope she is going to
be able to endure the pain - has to hurt. If she had a break they could fix it!
I have the Pix Pa cam on and keep hearing the rain there. I have to check from time to time to see if it is raining here. My poor back porch flowers got too dry. I do not know if they will recover. Have been kind of distracted the past couple of weeks.
Megan I am not going to bite! :)
So you have to wait until you are sick enough to be admitted before you go to the hospital? That makes no sense.
D#@*, thought I had you for sure that time...you are holding out...
I remember taking BC/BS to court. The judge decided in our favor. Youngest son had broken leg and I had all my figures down on charges/payments and I was so determined NOT to pay what they said I owed when I said a different figure.
I paid my very very small figure (under $100).... I WON !
Deb, has it started snowing yet?? Hoping that the forecast is wrong.
Like Mits said---it ain't over yet---don't get discouraged. Is it best of 5 or 7?
Snow is very lightly falling here. First snow of the year.
Yuk, Deb. I cannot imagine snow in October, too early.
Man oh Man! Those raccoons at Pix
sure are fed well. They really found their Heaven!
By the way Has anyone see the moon like before it started to rain. I am
fearful that they destroyed our moon.
Twins series is best of 5, Lynn.
Deb - I was trying to see the snow by looking at the Yankton Bridge cam.
Too dark but I can see it is wet.
It is also wet in Bluefield.
The OC boardwalk has people but calls for showers off and on all weekend.
Hey, Jo, I went out to look for the moon, and I did not see it! I see stars, but no moon.
One section of the sky is dark, and the wind is blowing in the trees. I think the moon must be hidden by the clouds. I do believe it is still there.
On my the 11th hour has come.
With all these steroid shots in me I'll never sleep... makes me wide awake.
Well, Jo, I too went outside, walked up Helm Street in my gown. I saw a few stars but no moon. I do think I saw storm clouds though.
Raccoon argument just now. Snarly raccoon chased another one away.
One year - many many moons ago - we did have an Oct snow. Very little and as you say didn't stay on ground as the leaves were still there.
But it is such a peaceful thought to hear First Snowfall - as long as it isn't here until Christmas eve.
I just checked it, Jo. You can see the lights are hazy, but that is about it. I will check road cams, but they are all probably too dark, too.
Wind is gusting to 40 mph, so it isn't a gentle snow!
Thanks to all you Moon Checkers!
It was quite a maneuver NASA did to find out about H2O on the moon. I hope they get some scientific info on if there is or isn't water up there.
Forty mph winds--no, that is not gentle.
Yes, I hope they find water. That would be good.
Cold front on the way. Looks like we will get rain here.
Talking to Sis now. She says she her foot and leg are hurting a lot. Waiting on the results of the x-ray. But she says she is okay and thanks for the prayers everybody.
Was hoping Wanda would check in and give us an update on Gee Gee and on
Gene's day at the shop!
JMO
Hope Sissy is okay, Sharon.
I'm outa here, past my bedtime.
Night Megan
I'm not too far behind you
Going to take my bath---will check back in later to see if there's an update on Sissy or Dorset.
I'll check in the morning to se if a train came thru here:)
Sweet dreams to any turning in now. I, too, was hoping we'd hear from Wanda---I got one email from her a little while ago, so guess they are home!
Poor Sissy...hope this doesn't ruin her Open House plans:(
I sent an email card to Miss Norma, forgot she doesn't get her email...so:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU NORMA
HOPE YOUR DAY WAS A BEAUTIFUL ONE
WITH DEER, RABBITS, AND SQUIRRELS AND BIRDS EVERYWHERE!
(((HUGS TO YOU)))
Wanda, how could you forget to ask about the costume guy? We are waiting with baited breath!
You are stringing us along, Wanda!
OH, NO, SHIRLEY...not stringing you all along. I'm very quick to share things with you all. When I got home, I had Dustin with me and there were customers in the shop...Gene was so excited because he made some very nice sales while I was gone. Didn't have a chance to talk. Then we had supper and watched some TV and now the Capt. is in bed asleep:(
I suspect if the gentleman came into the shop and saw Gene sitting there, he would have been too embarrased to try on womens costumes:)
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
SPECIAL PRAYER FOR SISSY
2 inches of snow doesn't close school unless wind and temp are really bad. If the temps are below zero with wind and snow, they don't like buses on the roads.
Night everyone.
So maybe he just walked out!
You will have to ask Gene tomorrow. Can understand that you couldn't ask in front of Dustin or the customers.
I also ♥ My Eagle Buddies
Couldn't make it without them!
Good Night All
Prayers for our Sissy, Diann, Dana & Ed, Margy's Sister, Shirley and everyone else that I know!
That includes all of you!
((((hugs)))) ♥
Glad there aren't broken bones, but I hope they gave her something for the pain, Sharon.
That is because you are so lovable!!!! WE love you too!
Bless you, Jo.
If anyone hears from Dana, please let us know. It has been a long time.
Very tired.
Going to crawl into my bed.
See you tomorrow.
Prayers for all who need them.
Hi, Gang,
I've made it home from school.
P.S.~~ Continued prayers for Sissy, and hopes that she'll sleep well tonight! G'night....
I had a down modem for quite a while---no idea why....maybe solar flares! Oh... maybe MOON belches (revenge for being bombed!)
Glad that Wanda has checked in but will have to wait to see if there IS a stroy to tell or not.
*
Good Night, EveryonE.
*
Good morning everybody. Heading to a meeting and then heading to Bluefield. Get to see Andrew today and the rest of my peeps! YEAH!
Warm morning here, 68°. Blue screen at the nest, but there's an eagle at BWO
Eagle at BWO is perched like a statue, hasn't budged in an hour
Good morning. Slept well and feel refreshed this morning. Gotta take a book on CD's back to the library this morning. Funny thing, I recommended it to Kathryn, so she put it on reserve, now I can't renew! I'm finished anyway, so it's no problem.
I need to tackle the assignments for my on-line classes.
Hello-
breakfast at BWO now, eagle eating fish
GOOD MORNING AGAIN. I AM HOPPING A TRAIN AND HEADING TO WEST VIRGINIA. MEGAN, TODAY IS A NEW DAY! TRAIN, PAT MONAHAN, TRAIN, PAT MONAHAN!!!!! Will check back in this evening. I haven't heard from Sissy yet this morning.
OH NO!!!! SHaron sounds like Sissy will have to train herself to walk lighlty on that sore ankle.
Any ideas?
Thanks., Lynn, I think I was the one who asked that question.
Hope Sissy is not too sore this morning. I would be sleeping in after a night like she had.
Hedgie...got that ?
xoxo
Well, we have Eagle Canes, wonder if there is an Eagle Walker, or Eagle Tri-Pod...to help our little Sissy out in her travels...or maybe I can share my Scooter Store mail with her ☺
Tried the online bird identification to no avail. I just got a glimpse. I hope they come back.
Back to old questions:
Lynn
when I commuted to Washington,
I worked for a law firm, Wilkinson, Cragun and Barker, right next to the Octagon Building on 19th Street near E, three blocks from the Corcoran Gallery and we were in the American Institute of Architects Building. Also not far from the Federal Office Building.
I was the File Room Supervisor.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!!
WHOA! BLUEFIELD SHARON!!!---did you forget??
WV MOUNTAINEERS play SYRCAUSE at Morgantown today at 12:00!---
CH 47--MASN (on our cable)--
sorry--sorry SISSY fell---have her prop her leg up this afternoon & watch the game---sending EAGLE PRAYERS SISSY!!!
When did you fall, Shirley ???
Glad you were not hurt.
Yeah, I can shou too if I take a fall here, always take the phones with me if I go outside, and when taking a tubby ☺ You just never know when something could happen.
Okay, if you don't have sunshine where you are, we have it here with Norma !
Hi and HO, Norma ☺ ♥
Get that pom pom and rattle rattle rattle today ☺
I should have found some Minnesota Twins pom poms for Deb !
Hi Deb wherever you are...this is your Day Off, unless it is a Mandatory Overtime Day....Hope not !
Shirley
I have Dana's number and will check in with her later this morning.
Good. It would be nice to know how she is doing.
NOW those are really--really HIGH HEELS!---Bet I could have---many moons ago---now I stumble in sneakers!!---ho!
Prayers for wellness, peace, joy, serenity, safety, and comfort.
xo
Great Ad in the Journal about Countryside Costumes complete with directions! Nice going Gene and Wanda! and thanks for the tip, Lynn.
Also the Hedgesville Eagles Football Team wore some pink on their uniforms/helmets last night, in honor and recognition of Cancer victims...
and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month -
The team lost their (homecoming) game, but they won the hearts of many, no doubt.
Go Eagles ! ♥
I think we might be about to get some rain. Cloudy and the wind is picking up.
Margy, Brentwood on Rt. 1 as in Rhode Island Ave.??????????
Shirley, COULD have been a very serious situation---over-reaction sometimes better than under when situation is unknown!
I do think it is funny when they think they can intimidate you and make you go away.
Morning everyone. The ground is white this morning, but that is about it. No shoveling needed. It is chilly, though!
Good morning, everyone.
Cheers
Good Morning All! Slept a little later than usual.. All those meds yesterday must have put me down. Feeling well this morning! Thank goodness for concerned medical personal
I sure hope Dorset soon gets the right answers!
Finally got an Eagle back at BWO !
Morning Mema Jo and Judie ☺
It's still Friday, Judie....you have an extra day until the new thread appears ☺
Just think...this time next week ☺
I will say that all of the years living in Ohio game me the confidence to hop in the car with the roads such a mess.
. . . gave me the confidence.
Gee, maybe Mits' absence means Annie is in the hospital!! Wouldn't that be wonderful???
So . . . what kind of dance do we do to make a baby come?
School administrators get flak no matter what decision they make regarding bad weather.....it is an untenable situation.
Okay, Game Time....Dorset is headed for surgery within the hour..time to get the insides taken care of...
Thanks, folks, I know I have your prayers on this one.
xo
Prayers being said, Margy.
Susan had her appendix removed a couple of years ago. It was amazing to me how long it took for the doctor to decide it was necessary.
Shirley, I said yesterday that we need to do a labor dance!
Mits is using Weds. as her deadline---if no baby by then, she will stay home rather than risk being up here when the action starts....:(
Don't remember the due date. When is it?
Good, MArgy---about time!! It probably won't take very long in the OR....prayers at work for sure.
Thanks....everyone, past, prsent and future on this..
Surgeon is a Lady ☺
I'm not sure, Shirley......for some reason the 13th sticks in my mind. If nothing by the 19th, they plan to induce then.
boat crossing right to left at Finland - wait til it comes out from behind the trees, you will see it
oh my gosh, two ships passed in different directions....
or is it Clunker eyes !
Jo's hot mail, must be HOT !
glad if it opened back up for her..
hahaha are you seeing double, Margy??
I'm going back to work in my kitchen.
Pitching, re-arranging, thinking of a dessert to bake later in the week, and
cleaning
Just mixed up a cucumber salad....barely had enough sugar---had to rob the sugar bowl...hate when that happens! Gotta go down to the basement pantry and hope that I have more---wanted to make the pizzelles tomorrow for one of our desserts!! (They keep well.)
Hey Margy, I just got my hummingbird out of the mailbox:)
Well, one was the Ferry I think and the other was the flat boat...
sure I saw one going left to right then looked again and there was the Ferry going left to right...
Megan - some of my flowers from the bouquets, have dried nicely and I have them in no-water vases....so exquisite ☺
Great Megan! ☺ ♥
Going to go do some errands and such. Will take my phone!
You, Jo, Sharon, Mits, Deb...
the Wowsie Gang ☺
Megan, me like a dumb dodo, did not save any yellow marigolds for seeds :(
I guess I was headstrong about getting the new garden boxes ready.
Got some nice yellow/orange ones from sister in Annandale the other day though.
LOL. Megan...great minds....I'm doing pork and sweet tater tomorrow, too!!
Hubby has filled two coffee containers with seed from that yellow marigold. Had to tell him no more...
Ed sounded...good.
xoxo
Well, Megan..I will just come to market in the Spring and get some giant yellow marigold plants and start all over again ☺
Okay, back to the kitchen, I am making progress, sort of...
Hedgie, if I could leave I would bring you some sugar...
SIL's Brother, I guess that is different....
oh well, same wish, show up and pitch and git !
well, pork loin just sounded good, I just read the meat selection sign, and it jumped out at me:)
Thanks for checking on Dana and Ed, I sent her an email a while ago, but never heard back.
I was a little surprised Dana did not get on the phone, but I asked Ed if she was smiling, he said, a half smile...:(
And their dogs are a great comfort to them....
They have been getting cards, I know they enjoy that....regarding emails, Dana told me last week that she opens them up to keep the system running, but has not had time to read any of
them :(
I worry, but my sister reminds me, If I pray, why worry, and if I worry, why pray ? I know there is some wisdom in that. I'm just not that wise sometimes.
I had pork chops last night, and have a complete meal for leftovers ☺
TTFN xoxox
Say night night to Finland, beautiful sunset there now
Margy, you took the words right out of my mouth!
In our prayers, Ceil...and our Labor Dances.
Good to see you, thanks for the upates...
Love you..
Margy xoxo
I am off to the store was thinking of some kind of pork and sauerkraut and apple sauce for tomorrow. BBL
Had a friend that when her dil was close to her due date we walked our feet off. She did not deliver for two weeks and had to have a C-section.
I'm doing a Margy. BBL
Love you too Margy.
Yuck Lynn..that store scares me!
Seems moldy....hey why not have Donald-son bring some sugar ?
Hey, Ceil answered your questions before your last post..
Going through my baking supplies....tossing outdated things.
Pork is a big thing this week-end...
Oh, this is tough! Just a few pieces of candy left from Birthday Box of Whitman's Sampler...24 oz box...have to test drive a few of these ☺
My emails are coming in and are readable.
I need to find lunch.
I was looking for a fresh thread. I thought Steve put it on automatic but I guess not. <:(
Yummy - liverwurst sandwich....
Love it every once in a while.
Hi Ya, everything quiet here....been doing some reading, and laundry....no calls yet so, Ben is still cooking, will be going to mass and probably out to dinner tonight...got football game tomorrow
Good to have you touch base with us!
Enjoy your day and tomorrow too!
Hi ya Mits...lovely to see you ☺
Hey, glad to see Ceil on, but wish Mits WAS at hospital!!! Too bad.....maybe later...:)
Gee, guess we are all in a pork mood!
You will, Lynn, you will, I also understand from son in law, that there have been some rough spots, and,
like many women we know, she has given much to many others...last time I was in there, was a strange visit and I might have gotten a poor impression.
Go have yourself a M.A.D visit ☺
SD ZOO PANDA: At two months old, our male giant panda cub is doing well. Following Chinese tradition, the little guy will be bestowed a name after he is 100 days old. But what name?
Panda Cub: Name Game
Posted at 12:42 pm October 6, 2009 by admin
Visitors to the San Diego Zoo will have an opportunity to name the cub.
Fishing cat is visible sleeping under the log on Asia Trail - National Zoo
Sloth bears, otters and clouded leopards are not in cam range.
Tell him to bring sugar!!!
Jo, Jim had posted the other day about those updates---when I read them, I also saw some blog comments---like is there a Chinese word for Roly-Poly?? LOL!!!
Margy, sometimes she is in a fine, sociable mood, and other times she is just as dour as can be.

Bai has been bathing Diego for a couple, and she's still doing it....
She is always bathing him, but I have yet to see him looking pink like the others she has given birth to.

P.S.~~ A proper Good Morning/Afternoon, to all my eagle-loving friends! Have a wonderful Saturday!
I missed Jim's message on the Panda cub naming. Maybe we can google Chinese words...... Roly Poly is surely the right description of Diego.
Just found out that former coworkers' cousin Teddy Tedholm did NOT make it into the final 20 of So You Think You Can Dance....too bad. Very talented young man.
Hello Andy! With a 3 yr old you may wish to clean the carpet after the visit! lol
BIG lol Mema...
Nice report, Andy...glad the little buggy is back and running, don't work too hard....
Hi Jim....☺
Grandson just called from South Carolina, sounds like he is having the adventure of a lifetime! First words after Hi Grammy, was:
"There are a lot of birds." He is taking lots of pictures.
☺
I wish police could catch the miscreants, Hedgie...that stuff boils my blood !
beautiful images at Pix PA - sun through the trees..
Mountaineers 27
Syracuse 6
Minnesota leads Purdue, 35 - something low....Deb can smile ☺
Big whistle pig at Pix Pa, plane flying overhead, and red-bellied woodpeckers squawking in the background....
I guess Norma has those Pom Poms going full speed!
Thanks for the updated scores, Margy
I have been trying to google Language translations from Eng to Chinese for
Roly Poly & also Diego.
But they give me results in writing it out not another name......
Of course, I am radio only...might deal with the converter box after some dust bunny action, and after updates from Massachusetts...
will call up to the hospital in a little while....
4:10 to go in third quarter, WVU game.
Going to check out cams and then put my feet up
Will be waiting for update on Dorset
Hope you got your sugar, Lynn
and your yard helper is busy!
I wonder what Deb is doing on her day off...
Oooops, Syracuse just scored, 9:08 to go, Mountaineers just had a 15 yard penalty, that didn't help matters much....
Score now is: 34-13
Margy I thought DEB had mandatory work and she usually has off a day in the work week - like Tues.
C-5 just flew over, headed towards Maryland, Megan and Jo...
Wow
Could be, Jo, I knew she was to be off Saturdays and work Sundays now...saw her post about the snow, this morning, but she didn't mention what her day included.....
And then I guess there is another day off somewhere in the middle of the week...her schedule is as confusing as mine !
34-13 final for WVU -
now to hear from Norma....☺
I only have 2 hours left to put in today, will go in later. I am doing laundry and cleaning right now.
Okay Deb...guess this was mandatory work day, huh :(
If it's any consolation I am doing laundry and cleaning too....☺
Hi, went upstairs to take a shower and the bed was so tempting I took a panda nap too.
Thank you, Lord, and thank you, Friends.
I am going to lie down now.
xo ♥
Shirley we are having steamed shrimp for supper.
Gald to hear all went well. Love those Boston accents. MM husband was from Boston. Took a while to understand some of the things he said.
