Thank you Steve, for the new thread. Hope this is a day Off for you, and that it is an enjoyable one. I will go tell the others of the nice surprise of the New Thread. xo
Yes, I am serious about the Ladybugs. We had them all over the house on windows, furniture, walls, windows. Never really cared -- good luck critters. We replaced windows three years ago and that seems to have stopped the invasion.
Have a good day a work, Deb.
Shirley, more seeds = more finches. The seeds they like, black thistle, are expensive.
Well, my brother's birthday package has made it back to Tampa again! Wonder if it will make another U-turn to Baltimore!
Asian beetles, maybe just a common name for a species of ladybugs, once made a huge encroachment upon a lodge I was vacationing at in Southwest Virginia in October of 2005....unbelievable invasion, much to the disdain of the lodgers, and the lodge managers!
I like them, too, but do want them to stay outdoors. One fall, we had bunches of them on the walls outdoors, but not too many got in. I do have a few that get in each winter.
yeah, that video has been there for awhile, Shirley, it was to advertise their live video if you wanted to purchase it, was going to get it, but maybe next year...
Morning all! Judie, if the ladybugs come back to my daughters' yellow house, I'll tell her to send them to you!!!! She said that her dad had them so bad inside a couple of years ago that he filled up a vac bag in one day....yucko! How is everyone this am? Cloudy here, with rain pending. Won't complain 'cause we need it!
weather here will not be good for most of this week, a disturbance off the Carolina coats will move up and cause heavy rain, and rough seas, but good reading weather:), and cleaning weather.
Reposting for any who may have missed it yesterday:

Wildlife Center to release Accomack bald eagle September 7, 2009
CHARLES CITY, Va. — The Wildlife Center of Virginia is releasing a bald eagle at Westover Plantation on the James River.
The juvenile bald eagle was first spotted in July on the ground in Accomack County on Virginia's Eastern Shore. The young eagle, which couldn't fly, was taken to the center where it was provided medical treatment and nursed back to health.
Officials say the eagle will be released on Monday across the James River from a 4,200-acre wildlife refuge that hosts one of the largest eagle roosts on the East Coast.
The bald eagle population in Virginia is rebounding, with more than 600 active nests across the state. In the late 1970s there were fewer than 50 nests in Virginia.
Talk about overcast! Finney's is dark dark dark... and it's not quite time for sundown there.
Looks doubtful hereabouts for that good ISS flyover tonight I have been talking about....but maybe in someone else's neighborhood, just add your zip code and hit "go"
ISS Flyover you will have to figure out your north/south/east/west orientation for where you are and what it says, might not be in all areas of course....
Lynn thank you for your attention to the Open House detail... I can't answer any of the questions yet :(
Good day again to all... might go find me some wildlife to gaze upon here shortly... xoxo
it seems to me, and, this is JMHO, that Virginia, takes great care of their critters, large and small, kudos to you Virginia, you are not only a state for lovers, but injured critters as well
Happy Labor Day and Blessings to all our Laborers across the Nation, past, present, and future..this is what makes the wheels of the US rock, and Roll !
Happy Labor Day Everyone. Did not see our Eagles laboring in the nest. See we have ONLY green barber pole on Live. I've only seen hibernating ladybugs at Park. One year in winter, we opened the boathouse door & the entire inside of door was covered w/them! Now some come inside the Vis. Ctr. but stay mostly inside the large light fixtures. We fed goldfinches the thistle seed, but it lasted over a year! They preferred sunflower seeds instead....and that's what I had up at home. Well I did most of my Labor yesterday, but more to go working on "showcase" bulletin boards for HS Reunion. Made a huge frameless panel w/foamcore back & plexiglass held together w/uniframe Swiss clips.(An older student loaned a pic w/me in pigtails!!!!must be 6th or 7th grade) Other board I already had----French bulletin board w/criss cross ribbons. Trick will be getting some small pics, etc. mounted to right size backing to fit in place!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... It is an overcast 68° here this morning in Martinsburg/shepherdstown. No live cam of our Royal Pair to look at:( But, it is a Holiday and we are going to pretend it is sunny and enjoy it because it is what it is;)
JUDIE, last night, as I was hearing the tap, tap, tap, I thought I heard, ever so softly...Nevermore, Nevermore! What do you make of that?
For those of you who don't have facebook, I finally managed to get the little video of Lib & Belle having their 'Lover's Quarrel'. It's funny that when you download a video on Youtube, it can only be 10 min. or less, but on Facebook, it can be any length. What's up with that? Anyway, it is on WILD AND WONDERFUL. Just a cute little argument between the Love Birds:)
Wanda, I had a problem with your video on your blog. It says that it is a private video and I have to be sure I have accepted your friend request; I have accepted it. I can't find a way to watch it. (Saw it on FB already, but was trying to see it again.)
I'm sorry, forgot to make it PUBLIC...try it now:) Wish Miss Norma was on this morning. She misses so much by only being on here in the mornings...know she would like to see their little spat:)
yes, Lynn I advise all critters to cross the border from MD, DC and WVA to come and get aid from people who want to preserve and protect you....again...JMVHO.
Morning all. It is still morning. Mits thanks for the article on the eagle release. I also read about the eagle that got free before they could rescue it and the article about the fox that bit two people and stole a sweater. Ed Clark said that if they set traps that unless the fox was wearing a the sweater they would not know if it is the right one. Going to try again Wanda. Thanks.
Video came through just great, Wanda. Mits, thanks for the info on the release of the Bald Eagle Juvie in VA. With Ed Clark joining them in the release I bet there will be a video later on Youtube.
Works now, Wanda. Was that Belle in the front--the one that was so grouchy. It looked like the other one (Lib?) was just trying to be helpful, but Belle(?) would have none of it. Poor guy looked clueless about what he was to do.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES and HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!!JUDIE--MAGPIE--SHARON--MITS--SHIRLEY--HEDGIE--LORETTA--& WANDA!!--(yell if i missed anyone)----We had a few sprinkles here this am---now it is 70 & cloudy!!!
I want to watch Wanda's video....I WANT TO WATCH WANDA'S VIDEO......but will have to wake up between 3am-6am to try to watch anything that long, or I will definitely go to Hughes Jail!!!
WHOA!---Have been waiting to answer all those folks who are enjoying watching the WV EAGLES NEST & BLOG--& DECIDING that other states take better care of their wildlife---COME VISIT WILD & WONDERFUL WEST VIRGINIA!!!---From BLUEFIELD to he PANHANDLE!!!!----then you can tout VIRGINIA & all the other states----
CEIL, you are right...Lib did get one "upside the head" in on Belle:) She was really in a bad mood. LOL
The video on Facebook was 13 minutes and showed both flying off at the end, which I love. You can hear their wings flapping. Had to cut off the last 3 minutes to fit it into Youtube:( Yes, indeed, Va does take care of it's widlife...outstanding care being given to Buddy!
Norma, without your email working please do as Hedgie suggested and read about Open House information that is needed now to help with the planning.....
You can give Hedgie your answers here on the blog. Hopefully you and Lisa will be there with us!
According to numerous media reports, Jamaican reggae producer Wycliffe "Steely" Johnson, has died in New York at age 47. Fellow producer-musician Cleveland "Clevie" Browne says Johnson died last week at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital on Long Island after having a heart attack.
Steely was diagnosed with kidney failure in New York last December. The same exam also revealed a blod clot on his brain.
During the 1980s and '90s, the Stevie & Clevie production duo created numerous hits and were regarded as one of the hottest production teams in Jamaica. Among the artists they collaborated with either collectively or individually include Bob Marley, Sean Paul, Super Cat, Caron Wheeler and No Doubt.
Chick-fil-A Today (Labor Day) from 10:30 a.m. through closing, Chick-fil-A will grant the magical gift of a free chicken sammich to any customer wearing any sort of sports team logo.
You just have to sign up first at ChickenWave.com. Funny, we never thought of those words as belonging together in any way.
It's limited to the first 250,000 fans, but there are only 10,000 spaces left right now, so make haste.
Find a Chick-fil-A near you, and hold the pickles.
I was just by a chickfila and a friend had told me about it the other day and I thought won't be near there. Like there sandwiches but like hot pickles on it. Off to a viewing. Margy and I seem to do a lot of visit. Just as we left the beach I got a call that this man had dropped dead. He is in his early 60's but had diabetes bad
Janie got a call from Dollywood. They bred two Golden Eagles and didn't have permits to do that. They tried to release them without success, so she is getting one of the chicks at her ranch to rehab and release when it is ready to go.
As you know, on Oct. 17 we will be enjoying the 12th annual OPEN HOUSE at NCTC.
If you have never attended this event, you really don't know what you are
missing. There are exhibits all over the campus and inside the buildings, which are free for all to enjoy. In particular, a wildlife exhibition in the auditorium of
the main building, which features Wolves, Leopards, Chimps, Boa Constrictors and many more, was a fun surprise to this Momster. I thought I would take a peek at what was going on and enjoyed it so much, I stayed til the end. Believe me, there were a lot of laughs going on in there. For instance, our Steve Chase holding a Boa Constrictor and it trying to wrap it's tail around him was hilarious.
There are exhibits outdoors, featuring live Raptors with audience participation, which is alway fun to watch. Last year, we had an Eagle on display which was awesome, but I don't know if it will be back this year...haven't heard yet.
Then, of course, we can visit the famous SYCAMORE TREE, home of Lib & Belle.
The Eagle Express will be parked nearby for the comfort and convenience of all Momsters and Dadsters and spouses. There will be snacks and cold and hot drinks for your enjoyment.
Around 11am, we, as a group. will enjoy a wonderful lunch in the cafeteria. The food is scumptous and reasonably priced. The dining room is beautiful!
Around 5pm, we gather at the Clarion Inn in Shepherdstown, which is about 5 miles from NCTC, for our dinner and fellowship with each other. We will be having raffles and door prizes, which is always a lot of fun! And, by the way, if any of you have an item that you would like to donate for one of the prizes, let me know about it and bring it with you. If you are not able to make it to this event, but would like to donate a prize, you can mail it to me. Just email me of your intentions. The monies raised from the raffle all goes toward the upkeep of the Eagle Cam.
On Friday night, we gather at the Clarion around 4pm to meet and greet our NEWBIES and those who have come from out of town. We will have dinner at 5pm and, if were lucky, there will be live music to enjoy with our dinner. It is always a fun evening and I hope many of you will join us.
PS
The Eagle Express will be at the Clarion on Saturday
Very nice, Wanda!! You done good, girlfriend! Deb, I remember watching a release from Dollywood not too long ago....but think it was an eagle....can't remember for sure! Duh-----chemo brain well after the fact! Dolly actually asssisted.
Dollywood is home to Eagle Mountain Sanctuary, a 30,000-square-foot aviary that houses the country's largest presentation of non-releasable bald eagles. Catch a rare and up-close glimpse of some of nature's most impressive birds of prey in this beautiful mountain setting as members of the American Eagle Foundation interact with these spectacular animals in our Wings of Prey show.
Over the past 18 years, the not-for-profit American Eagle Foundation has become widely recognized as a national non-governmental leader in bald eagle conservation, recovery and public environmental education. Established in 1985, the Federal and State licensed organization operates the world's largest bald eagle exhibit and breeding facility at its Dollywood-based headquarters, where many of its resident non-releasable eagles have successfully reproduced in captivity and released into the wild.
The AEF is dedicated to the recovery and protection of bald eagles and their habitat. It has educated millions of people, captive-hatched dozens of bald and golden eaglets, and rehabilitated numerous injured eagles and other birds of prey. For more information on AEF, please visit www.eagles.org.
Wanda, thank you so much for the eagles' video. Never seen an eagle spat before. Hmmmm -- about the tap tap tapping -- how many G&Ts did you have before bedtime? Maybe that's why you were hearig Nevermore, Nevermore!
Loretta, sunflower seeds wouldn't be so bad -- I guess the VA finches think they're high class.
Send the Ladybugs my way! I really like them.
I'm so happy another eagle will be released. Sadly, the only "plantation" I'll be seeing is my own.
Margy, here's for the package making a successful migration to Tampa.
Well, certainly am pleased to know that Bob Marley did not de a second time -- how troublesome that would be.
I hope Janey is excited to have a Golden Eagle chick and that it stays healthy.
Okay, now for my BIG news. I have made reservations and plan to meet my new friends at the open house. I will be there Friday night and come home Sunday morning. Thought I couldn't as Frank has speeches on Sat. but we agreed it would be a nice time for me to get away. YIPPEE!!!!
Okay, off to study for tomorrrow's return to the wannabe adults. Sorry for talking so much.
Have been feeling for a long time that I wanted to come to Shepherdstown on Friday night as well as Saturday. Just changed my reservation! I will be there on Friday night. I figure my children can join me whenever if they decide to come.
See you there.
I will be checking with the kids later to see what their plans are.
It is sad to see the days get shorter. I saw the snow up there in some of the pictures I looked at. That time is coming again. I am sure it comes early up there.
This is way cool, as the kids say, Judie and Shirley!!! So very happy to know that you will be joining in all our fun!!! Mits, is that the first time that you've visited AEF website? I think it is a neat place----think we need a field trip to Gatlinburg and surrounding area!!!!
no Lynn, have watched the eagles with eggs and hatchlings the past couple of years, have bought stuff from the AEF....was at Dollywood and Gatlinburg area many years ago....just a gorgeous place...heaven on earth:)
Judie, Shirley, so glad you are going to open house. You are going to love it! I certainly wish we could be there this year, so I could officially meet you. Oh, well...there is next year!
Wanda, you and Gene are so generous with your fabulous hospitality RV. Judie and Shirley, you MUST request an "Eagle Talon" from your gracious bartender, Capt. Eagle. Then request a second "for Lolly"! lol
I have labored for today. Went straight from coffee and paper to digging in the dirt. Now I need to go shower and clean up. No cooking tonight...have leftovers from yesterday.
Laurel got home late, but said Jacob would not go to bed until all his knights were standing up. Oh, he loves his castle. Yea!
Hi, Everyone, Just got back from spending most of the weekend at the hotel with A/C, and feel as if I've missed out on just about everything! The internet connection went out at the hotel the very night we got there, and never did get fixed. So I was unable to get to the blog, and unable to get to the several websites I needed to get homework done. It's going to be a crazy day today, trying to get homework done! Glad we got 2 nights of really COOL sleep, though. It's much cooler here today--in the 80s, not the 90s. We MAY live! Have ever so much to catch up on on the blog--I just about give up! Gotta spend all my time catching up on schoolwork. Hope all of you have a fantastic Labor Day holiday; prayers being said for all. Will try to get back here later tonight, if not, tomorrow am. Take care! :o]
Andy, we were wondering how your weekend was! And I said that maybe there wasn't a connection you could access! I was close. Well, the important thing is that you got a break from the heat, and got to chill the ol' brain! Glad the weather has improved. Don't study TOO hard---there is such a thing as too much studying! I think you need to make plans for a break and head east next month! LOL--sure wish it could happen for you!
Called Kathryn. Told her to check her mail with the details. They are getting ready to go 4-wheelin'. Never thought I'd raised a 4-wheelin' daughter, but guess I did just that.
Shirley, I have one that is a 4-wheelin' momma, and what that is a biker-chick (passenger)! But, duh, I used to have my own bike when they were young, so guess they come by it honestly!!!
With Diego's news of being able to roll from back to belly I just got a call from gd (Hedgie's neighbor) that Donavon who is 6 mos old is crawling! No kidding! His first tooth is through. He is going to be and already is one big kid!
I saw tons of butterflies and flying insects today....cross-pollination city on the all the flower tops ! and some mating. Best view was of a Monarch which I think had just emerged today, it was soggy and tentative, but when it opened up its wings, it was so dazzling !
Better read up on what I missed through the afternoon.
Here locally, and maybe other places, they are NOT open on Sundays, which I believe is a Christian-based decision with their employees in mind, and here locally, they do several things that benefit Bit Brothers and Big Sisters... I have only had food from there once, and it was good....just don't buy out very often.
I desperately need to get in the showers....smell like a Citronella candle and am all oily, but what a field trip I had...will tell you some more about it later.
Hi all! I am clean, hair is clean (one can get really grubby working in the yard!) Have given myself a pedicure and a manicure. All is well with the world! Except...you all are getting excited about the open house, and I am jealous!!
However, I have a trip (Oct. 4) to look forward to. We are taking Jacob to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.
I had been trying to catch up on comments. When I decided to check on the still cam I had up.. So happy to see our eagle.
Deb on Sunday in comments they were talking about pics and a article. Is it new? If so where is it posted at? I seen your wonderful article that was in the magazine.
One time when we were in Colorado on Trail Ridge Road we saw a Golden Eagle. Not often you get to see a Golden Eagle and be above it, looking down on it as it is flying around.
Deb This article I found says "The last documented observation of a pair of ospreys trying to nest in North Dakota was in 1973." North Dakota is also a stop over place for migrating Osprey. Interesting..
Dana, you would think that ND would get spill over from Canada, Minnesota and Montana, where there are Osprey. That was the only thing I found, too, when I googled it. That article is 11 years old, it is time for an update!
lol I believe so Deb why don't you contact them and do an article for them...bet you could even though you are in S.D. Cause 11 yrs old they are in need of HELP lol
Just to add in with Sunday's comments to Wanda for Ibuprofen 600mg my bottle say's "Take 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hrs" doctor did say if you go 4 hrs stay with that or if you go 6 hrs stay with that. As Lynn said that way you are keeping it in your system.
Oh my Lolly the presents were a hit with Jacob. Now Joseph is all excited and wondering what you are going to do for his birthday. So happy it all turned out so wonderful.
I could maybe eek out an article on Osprey, but don't know much more about ND than you probably do, Dana. I am about as far south in SD as you can get. I get all my info on ND by googling it. I am not much of a writer, though, so eeking out an article would be a chore!
My Tomato Story Headed out back roads which go behind the VA Center (my old stomping grounds) on the way to the Fish Hatchery in Leetown (Jefferson County) . Stopped where a young boy (13?) had a tomatoes for sale stand. Another young man (24 or so?) had also stopped. I was fumbling for singles but only had a pile of quarters, tomatoes were 4/$1. Young man paid first, and said to me, "It's Okay, Ma'am, I've got it. I am only getting four." I thanked him and told him I wasn't sure where he came from but he sure belonged on this planet! Then he walked away back to his car. It was then I saw that he had put $7 in the seller's tray, and the younger fellow quickly told me I could get 24 tomatoes! Smart Lad! Just a country boy, but so very polite, and piercing, handsome blue eyes. Well, I picked out about twelve and told him I would leave him some for other customers...he told me that they did not have too many tomatoes this year, (and these poor little tomatoes were rather sad looking...but golden to my eyes!) I think, the young man who paid for my tomatoes, must have been a soldier in civilian clothes. I think he saw my magnet from Helen - "Land of the Free" with an eagle and flag banner, and my poor little faded yellow ribbon magnet "Support the Troops." I had some brief conversation with the little boy, and went on my way, and cried for the next five miles. This just seemed like my miracle for the day. I know this is long, but it had such an impact on me...maybe because this is my brother's birthday and I think this was God's birthday gift to ME! xo
I hope that all of you that has a flag has it flying high as it is almost 9/11. Mine is going to stay up all the time with the exception of really bad weather.
Thanks, folks, it was pretty magical....There were many other traveling routes I could have taken, but this is my favorite one. Maybe this "angel" is like Sgt. Ryan and Sgt. Patrick! ☺ ♥
Margy, what a nice story! Those tomatoes will taste twice as sweet.
Well, I am back from my shopping trip. I have purchased another sofa, a coffee table, and a recliner.
For too long, I have had a beat-up sofa and chair in my family room. They were left here for storage by my son who had gotten them free from someone who did not want them anymore. They are ugly. I think my son may want them eventually, although I hope he will get something else. We will see. They will go to the basement soon and I will have nice new furniture.
I figured I would be able to take advantage of Labor Day sales, and I did. Without saying how much I spent, I will say that I got a free notebook computer thrown in. Now, I am waiting for delivery. They were doing so much business that they had run out of the notebook computers, so I am waiting for that to come in, too.
Nope,I did not win the lottery, and it scares me to spend so much, but a person should have a recliner to fall asleep in, and I have never had one.
So that is how I spent my evening. They will deliver both sofas and the other furniture together. I hope it will come soon. I have bridge club in November. It is not asking too much to have it here before that!
Someday I will buy a mattress, but that is another story.
Had planned to do a few other errands while I was out, but just came straight home. I waited a long time for the sales guy. Went through all the fabrics and made my choices and told him he should pay me commission for doing my own sale.
I will have to continue Margy's TOMATO STORY... I told Margy, earlier in the summer that I would drop off tomatoes at her door every time I went to visit GeeGee. I know how much she loves tomatoes and her apartment is on the way. Only once was I able to share my tomatoes with her...my garden is a disaster this year. Nothing has grown as it should, especially the tomatoes and peppers. GeeGee has been giving me tomatoes and peppers from her garden. Anyway, I have felt so badly that I couldn't live up to my promise and NOW I see that it was meant to be this way. If I had been able to give her the tomatoes, she would not have stopped at the tomato stand and met her GUARDIAN ANGEL!
Wanda - You kinda beat me to it...I have been thinking since I signed off that I needed to say this:
Today's event reminded me of the other Tomato Angels in my life: Wanda and Gene ! ♥ Those tomatoes from your garden were sweetened with L♥ve !
And, I wish the salt water treatment would help Gene, as it has helped my eye...thought I would have to make a trip to the doctor's but I think it has gone the way of Judie's Frank's eye: pretty much healing itself...
Had a nice steak dinner with my college kid tonight! He leaves for school in the morning. His brother is driving up with him in his truck to help him get all his stuff there in one trip!
Had a wonderful picnic at oldest son John's house yesterday, then went back down to do more painting.
Ah, Wanda, everything happens for a reason. What a lovely tomato angel story. It really upsets me everytime I have to go to Walter Reed -- so many have made such devastating sacrifices and I am grateful but sorrowful when I see the the human consequences. You had a very special visit today.
Shirley, almost like a brand new abode! I am so jealous but so very happy for you. Maybe pictures after all has arrived? Jo is right, as always, you now have a recliner to make up for a not new mattress.
Bye-the-way, how is Gee Gee these days? Need an update!
Jim, just checked a few minutes before Bai Yun returned. Thought Diego might turn himself over again, but Mom to the rescue!
Deb, so happy you and Janie will be able to work with a Golden Eagle. Will look for updates along the way.
Well, I am slam wore out from excitement about meeting my new friends and anticipating seeing Hidey's House. I need sleep before taking on my wannabe adults tomorrow morning.
Turning my light out but leaving the night light on for others. Pleasant dreams.
I am watching Castle. I like it a lot, however the one that is showing right now I have seen.
Love the tomato story! Made me remember my special story.
Every December we would take our kindergarten classes to McDonalds. Earlier they had given us McDonalds paper supplies and we made Christmas decorations with them. We would then give them back to McDonalds to decorate for Christmas. We would go see our decorations and tour. Also, McDonalds furnished juice and cookies. But this one year we were presented with an extra treat paid for by a man who was in the restaurant. The man wore an overcoat, but had a head full of white hair and a long white beard. No kidding. The story was written up in the newspaper.
Going to have to quit soon, too. Block one class is reading The Crucible. It is really not a comedy, but I think we are turning it into one. We laugh a lot. It is turning out to be a fun group.
How nice, Lolly! That is something the children will always remember, and I bet a lot of those parents have the newspaper article in their scrapbooks.
I will have to see if I can get a picture of Hunter's grandparents on his dad's side. They do Christmas parades. They have the sleigh, the outfits, and everything. Hunter has been told that his grandpa is one of Santa's helpers. I guess he was about three the year he got to ride in the sleigh with his parents and grandparents. He waved at the crowds and called out, "Happy Halloween!" Poor child was a little confused that year.
His grandpa's hair and beard are authentic, but I don't think he has been to Texas.
Jo, most new shows will not start their new seasons til later this month...not sure if I will like Jay Leno on every night at 10 o'clock, but guess he will do in a pinch, don't really watch that many shows on the main stations

I'll call the others over.
Thank you Steve, for the new thread. Hope this is a day Off for you, and that it is an enjoyable one.
I will go tell the others of the nice surprise of the New Thread.

Oh, I see Judie beat me to it.
Good Morning Judie !
As promised, Deb...
I will be thinking of you!
Good Morning, Shirley, Judie, Mits and all others waking up to the morning... xo
Good morning, again.
Had to catch up.

Good morning everybody!
thanks for the call over, Judie
Wanda, if the tapping last night wasn't Gene and if it wasn't the sandman, maybe it was Poe's Raven?
Shirley, thank you for the still cam link. It worked. Also, we do have a light color house. Learn much new on this blog everyday.
Judie
Braveheart is at BWO, won't be long now, before she leaves:(
Howdy Sharon....

well I like ladybugs, but would prefer them to stay outside where they belong.

Take a look at the finney site. You will enjoy the video of Koo taking off. The nest is really blowing in the wind.
yeah, that video has been there for awhile, Shirley, it was to advertise their live video if you wanted to purchase it, was going to get it, but maybe next year...
Had not seen it before, Mits.
BBL--Must go shower.
Morning all!
Judie, if the ladybugs come back to my daughters' yellow house, I'll tell her to send them to you!!!! She said that her dad had them so bad inside a couple of years ago that he filled up a vac bag in one day....yucko!

Wildlife Center to release Accomack bald eagle
September 7, 2009
Looks doubtful hereabouts for that good ISS flyover tonight I have been talking about....but maybe in someone else's neighborhood, just add your zip code and hit "go"
ISS Flyover
you will have to figure out your north/south/east/west orientation for where you are and what it says, might not be in all areas of course....
Lynn thank you for your attention to the Open House detail...
I can't answer any of the questions yet :(
Good day again to all...
might go find me some wildlife to gaze upon here shortly...
xoxo
Helen - will there be a site we can go to watch it?
Sounds great, another Eagle heading out for its freedom....
Thanks for the info.
http://www.wildlifecenter.org/wp/westover-september7/
it starts at 11:00a.m., doubt that there is a web cam....
it seems to me, and, this is JMHO, that Virginia, takes great care of their critters, large and small, kudos to you Virginia, you are not only a state for lovers, but injured critters as well
Thanks, Mits...
Happy Labor Day and Blessings to all our Laborers across the Nation, past, present, and future..this is what makes the wheels of the US rock, and Roll !
What a beautiful Eagle this is...
thanks AGAIN, Mits...xo
Happy Labor Day Everyone. Did not see our Eagles laboring in the nest. See we have ONLY green barber pole on Live.
I've only seen hibernating ladybugs at Park. One year in winter, we opened the boathouse door & the entire inside of door was covered w/them! Now some come inside the Vis. Ctr. but stay mostly inside the large light
fixtures.
No live cam of our Royal Pair to look at:(
But, it is a Holiday and we are going to pretend it is sunny and enjoy it because it is what it is;)
JUDIE, last night, as I was hearing the tap, tap, tap, I thought I heard, ever so softly...Nevermore, Nevermore!
Good late breezy Monday morning. Hope most of you have a relaxing day - Deb I'm thinking about you! At least you have shorter hours on a holiday.
Going over to earlier thread and read the morning happenings!
Make it a great day!
WANDA - I can't get video to start
I did view it on Facebook ...Check it out - might just be me...
Wanda, I had a problem with your video on your blog. It says that it is a private video and I have to be sure I have accepted your friend request; I have accepted it. I can't find a way to watch it. (Saw it on FB already, but was trying to see it again.)
Wanda I am not on FB but it said the same thing. Private and sign up and I did and it didn't LOL
Congrats to VA for all their efforts to preserve wildlife. Just another good reason I call it God's Country!
Thanks, Mits, for info.
Thanks.
lol...Ed Clark is "da man"
going to try video again....
YOU MISSED CEIL AND JO, NORMA!
Wanda it worked. Thank you. Lib got one good peck in.
Good morning, Norma.
Still have not taken my shower. Must go. BBL.
Mits, your VHO matches mine!!
Hi ya', Norma!!! Read back a little ways for OPEN HOUSE info!
WHOA!---Have been waiting to answer
all those folks who are enjoying watching the WV EAGLES NEST & BLOG--& DECIDING that other states take better care of their wildlife---COME VISIT WILD & WONDERFUL WEST VIRGINIA!!!---From BLUEFIELD to he PANHANDLE!!!!----then you can tout VIRGINIA & all the other states----
I've been to WVA, Virginia still takes better care of critters!
SORRY!--- MEMA JO & CEIL!---anyone else?----didn't mean to not list you!
CEIL, you are right...Lib did get one "upside the head" in on Belle:)
She was really in a bad mood. LOL
The video on Facebook was 13 minutes and showed both flying off at the end, which I love. You can hear their wings flapping. Had to cut off the last 3 minutes to fit it into Youtube:(
Yes, indeed, Va does take care of it's widlife...outstanding care being given to Buddy!
good for Lib.....:)
Hello Norma!
Norma, without your email working please do as Hedgie suggested and read about Open House information that is needed now to help with the planning.....
You can give Hedgie your answers here on the blog. Hopefully you and Lisa will be there with us!
Just heard that our REGGAE guy, Bob Marley died. Only 47 yrs. old.
Bob Marley died in 1981, he was 36??
Wanda....Bob Marley died in 1981......
Thanks WANDA---LOVED your video--still laughing---really cool---
I need FOOD........
BBL
AZALEA moving on & on!
it was Bob's producer who died...
Among the artists they collaborated with either collectively or individually include Bob Marley, Sean Paul, Super Cat, Caron Wheeler and No Doubt.
so sorry--i got caught up in the---my dad's better than you dad game--forgive me--i haven't had a good day----thanks--
awesome sunset at Finney's nest:)
So sorry, not Bob Marley...My Bad!
Glad Mr. Marley's family doesn't read this blog:)
Mits, thanks for clarification....I was looking to see if Bob's son had died!
Hope your day gets better, Norma. There are many hours left.
Find a Chick-fil-A near you, and hold the pickles.
lol....Wanda....they would start looking for more cash from his estate...his son Ziggy has had a good career
NO MORE DEATH ANNOUNCEMENTS COMING FROM THESE BLONDE ROOTS;)
Was it Mark Twain who said something like, "The account of my death was greatly exaggerated"?
I was just by a chickfila and a friend had told me about it the other day and I thought won't be near there. Like there sandwiches but like hot pickles on it. Off to a viewing. Margy and I seem to do a lot of visit. Just as we left the beach I got a call that this man had dropped dead. He is in his early 60's but had diabetes bad
Wanda that's okay. I don't even know who Bob Marly is except he did reggae.
Lunch time here. It is cool, windy and cloudy here today, too. At least that makes working on a holiday easier!
Someone else can have my sammich! Don't like their food, and don't like hot (temperature hot, that is!)pickles!!!
Deb, join the club! Sure glad I hadn't planned on giving or going to a picnic!
It was Mark Twain, Wanda.
Janie got a call from Dollywood. They bred two Golden Eagles and didn't have permits to do that. They tried to release them without success, so she is getting one of the chicks at her ranch to rehab and release when it is ready to go.
Tried to release the two chicks, that is.
wow, that will be great, Deb
Deb.....didn't know a permit was needed to breed...what a cool idea----should be a requirement for people!!!
I don't know if Dollywood intentionally bred the eagles or not, don't want to get them in more trouble!
HELLO, ALL MOMSTERS AND DADSTERS...
Around 11am, we, as a group. will enjoy
a wonderful lunch in the cafeteria.
PS
The Eagle Express will be at the Clarion on Saturday
morning at 10am to transport anyone who wishes to
travel with us to NCTC. We will return you to the
Clarion at 4pm.

Janie was pretty excited. It seems to me that they have rehabbed eagles before at Dollywood, so I am not sure what went wrong.
LMBO, Lynn. I agree 100%!
Time to head back to work, bbl.
Very nice, Wanda!! You done good, girlfriend!
Deb, I remember watching a release from Dollywood not too long ago....but think it was an eagle....can't remember for sure! Duh-----chemo brain well after the fact! Dolly actually asssisted.
Sorry you have to work on a holiday, Deb, but it will look good come payday;)
Hey, sun just came out!!! Oops...fading.....fading....
For more information on AEF, please visit www.eagles.org.
awesome sky at Finney's nest now:)
Judie
Very pretty sky, Mits.
just so sad to see the days getter shorter, Shirley:(
Have been feeling for a long time that I wanted to come to Shepherdstown on Friday night as well as Saturday. Just changed my reservation! I will be there on Friday night. I figure my children can join me whenever if they decide to come.
See you there.
I will be checking with the kids later to see what their plans are.
Judie, your decision made pick up the phone and call the hotel.
It is sad to see the days get shorter. I saw the snow up there in some of the pictures I looked at. That time is coming again. I am sure it comes early up there.
++ Good Morning ++
and
++ Happy Labor Day ++
++ to you all ++
Interesting action at both Panda cams.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
This is way cool, as the kids say, Judie and Shirley!!! So very happy to know that you will be joining in all our fun!!!
Mits, is that the first time that you've visited AEF website? I think it is a neat place----think we need a field trip to Gatlinburg and surrounding area!!!!
Hi, Jim!!! Are you making travel arrangements for Open House????????
no Lynn, have watched the eagles with eggs and hatchlings the past couple of years, have bought stuff from the AEF....was at Dollywood and Gatlinburg area many years ago....just a gorgeous place...heaven on earth:)
Yea!
Hi, Everyone,
Just got back from spending most of the weekend at the hotel with A/C, and feel as if I've missed out on just about everything! It's much cooler here today--in the
80s, not the 90s.
Take care! :o]
Hot Pickles! YUCK !
WHOO HOO !
Judi and Shirley will be at Open House!
Too good to be true!
JIM - what time does your plane arrive?
Going for my 3:00 cup coffee and putting my feet up!
BBILW
Shirley, so glad you were motivated to call. I plan to leave early afternoon to avoid the 495 rush hour if you want to ride with me.
Andy, hope you and hubby feel better after some cool sleep AND that you were able to study some. I think heat makes it twice as hard to concentrate.
Okay, on my to-do list: eagle talon for me and for Lolly! Sure wish you could be there, Lolly.
Okay, back to research methods! Boooorrrrring! Chipotle Sloppy Joe's tonight.
Judie
Andy, we were wondering how your weekend was! And I said that maybe there wasn't a connection you could access! I was close. Well, the important thing is that you got a break from the heat, and got to chill the ol' brain!
Glad the weather has improved. Don't study TOO hard---there is such a thing as too much studying! I think you need to make plans for a break and head east next month! LOL--sure wish it could happen for you!
Just e-mailed my daughters about my change of plans.
Called Kathryn. Told her to check her mail with the details. They are getting ready to go 4-wheelin'. Never thought I'd raised a 4-wheelin' daughter, but guess I did just that.
Off to run errands.BBL.
Shirley, I have one that is a 4-wheelin' momma, and what that is a biker-chick (passenger)! But, duh, I used to have my own bike when they were young, so guess they come by it honestly!!!
Good evening eagle budlets!
Wanda, those are wonderful plans we have got going there! I can't wait.
We'll be a-lookin for you, Sharon:)
So happy Shirley and Judie are going to be able to join us on Friday. Seems we have more time to chat and get to know each other that evening.
Quick visit.
Checked on Diego. He was on his back alone and turned himself over. Guess he's trying to grow up.
With Diego's news of being able to roll from back to belly I just got a
call from gd (Hedgie's neighbor) that
Donavon who is 6 mos old is crawling!
No kidding! His first tooth is through.
He is going to be and already is one
big kid!
Hubby said he would take me to WalMart I have to go remind him he said that!
BBILW or sooner if he changed his mind.
That's awesome about Donovan, Mema Jo...guess he wants to get in on all the fun that his siblings are into...
Hello Eagle Friends...
Chick-Fil-A -
Here locally, and maybe other places, they are NOT open on Sundays, which I believe is a Christian-based decision with their employees in mind, and here locally, they do several things that benefit Bit Brothers and Big Sisters...
I have only had food from there once, and it was good....just don't buy out very often.
I desperately need to get in the showers....smell like a Citronella candle and am all oily, but what a field trip I had...will tell you some more about it later.
xoxo ♥
Hallelujah Hawaii!
Judie and Shirley BOTH going to make a week-end of it....for Open House....
☺
Ceil
I am so sorry to hear of the death of your friend...
EAGLE ALERT!!!
I hope someone else is around, to see the beautiful visitor to our nest.
Lolly, eagle in the nest!!
EAGLE IN NEST STILL CAM
Poof, glad you saw the visitor, too, Dana.
Poof
Poof! Wahhhh!!! I want the live cam back!
I had been trying to catch up on comments. When I decided to check on the still cam I had up.. So happy to see our eagle.
Deb on Sunday in comments they were talking about pics and a article. Is it new? If so where is it posted at? I seen your wonderful article that was in the magazine.
Thanks, Deb, for the heads up!
I have been having lots of problems with facebook today. Has anyone else had any problems?
It was a newspaper article, Dana. I'll have to get the links again, if you give me a few minutes.
Article
Pictures
... Anytime you all want to see an eagle, tell me to take a shower! Same thing happened last night (or maybe the night before...)
Hi Deb and Dana and Lolly
and everybody else that was already here...
☺
Deb are there osprey in North Dakota?
I don't know Dana, if there are or not.
I will get my visit pictures posted in a while, I need to feed the dogs.
Glad to hear that Janie is getting a Golden Eagle chick, Deb... way cool....especially since I know you will be involved in it also ! ☺
EAGLE
Appears to be a busy Lib to me. Belle is probably close by!
I wish I could be involved, but the eagle is already in Idaho. :(
BOTH
Now both!
One time when we were in Colorado on Trail Ridge Road we saw a Golden Eagle. Not often you get to see a Golden Eagle and be above it, looking down on it as it is flying around.
Oh my golly they are back !
I have only seen two Golden Eagles, both soaring overhead. I would like a good view of one someday soon.
Ah, still together. Guess they kissed and made up after the lit marital spat the other day.
Poof, now I really need to feed the dogs!
Just have seen the one, Deb. It was pretty exciting.
Deb This article I found says "The last documented observation of a pair of ospreys trying to nest in North Dakota was in 1973." North Dakota is also a stop over place for migrating Osprey. Interesting..
Oprey Article for North Dakota
Thanks Deb for posting the Article about South Dakota and the pics. I am loving it!!!!!! AND SAVING IT!!
Lolly, mine were exciting, too, but then you get greedy and want a good view. :)
Seems like our eagles have been coming early morning and then right before the night light comes on! I am so glad they stay all year long.
DEB I fed your hamster but I didn't take time to feed the turtles!
My Tomato Story
Headed out back roads which go behind the VA Center (my old stomping grounds) on the way to the Fish Hatchery in Leetown (Jefferson County)
.
I am only getting four."
I thanked him and told him I wasn't sure where he came from but he sure belonged on this planet! Then he walked away back to his car.
It was then I saw that he had put $7 in the seller's tray, and the younger fellow quickly told me I could get 24 tomatoes! Smart Lad!
Just a country boy, but so very polite, and piercing, handsome blue eyes.
Well, I picked out about twelve and told him I would leave him some for other customers...he told me that they did not have too many tomatoes this year, (and these poor little tomatoes were rather sad looking...but golden to my eyes!)
I think, the young man who paid for my tomatoes, must have been a soldier in civilian clothes. I think he saw my magnet from Helen - "Land of the Free" with an eagle and flag banner, and my poor little faded yellow ribbon magnet "Support the Troops."
I had some brief conversation with the little boy, and went on my way, and cried for the next five miles.
I have a flag with an eagle on it, that is up all the time, Jo.
Margy that was a beautiful happening for you today. So very very touching.
Thanks so much for sharing. xoxoxoxox
Margy There are guy angels
Margy your guardian angel was watching over you ( :
Thanks for sharing your beautiful "Tomato Story" with us.
Thanks, folks, it was pretty magical....There were many other traveling routes I could have taken, but this is my favorite one.
Maybe this "angel" is like Sgt. Ryan and Sgt. Patrick! ☺ ♥
Well, friends, I have some things to attend to, a little Labor at Home...since I spent the day more or less playing...
Will check in before or maybe after Judie leaves the night light on for us...
Hope to hear from more of our Momsters this evening...always a comfort when they check in....
TTFN xo
Well I always pray for all the guardian angels to surround my two army guys at all times! I bet one of them came to visit you!
PS
And, I am going to have some of those tomatoes!
Dana - Criminal Minds at 9:00 may be a new one.... What do you think?
Hi folks!
After all of that, I am very tired.
Margy great story Love when we meet angels.
Good night and peaceful dreams to all.
You won't need a new mattress since you got that comfy recliner! You'll love falling asleep in it with your notebook on your lap!
You did good, Shirley! You only live once and you may as well do it right!
New floors deserve new furniture!
Going to check out Ceiminal Minds - I sure hope it is one I haven't seen before.......

Thanks, Jo. This new stuff is going in the room with the carpeting, but that will be fine.
I had this in mind when I bought the other sofa, but I could not just do it all at once. I have to turn it over in the back of my mind.
Had planned to do a few other errands while I was out, but just came straight home. I waited a long time for the sales guy. Went through all the fabrics and made my choices and told him he should pay me commission for doing my own sale.
Check the baby at San Diego... close-up and alone.

It will all fall into place, Wanda!
Thanks for the 'rest of the story'
I am at TV Not a new episode but one I hadn't seen.

I think Criminal Minds won't be new for 2 more weeks Jo.
I'm checking out this showed at 9 called "Castle".
I posted pictures of my purchases on my blog. It is kind of hard to visualize everything, but it is there for what it is worth.
Evening, friends!
How is everyone this fine Labor Day?
Dana - I have watched Castle...I like it.
How are you, Paula?
Wanda - You kinda beat me to it...I have been thinking since I signed off that I needed to say this:
Today's event reminded me of the other Tomato Angels in my life:
Wanda and Gene ! ♥ Those tomatoes from your garden were sweetened with L♥ve !
And, I wish the salt water treatment would help Gene, as it has helped my eye...thought I would have to make a trip to the doctor's but I think it has gone the way of Judie's Frank's eye:
pretty much healing itself...
Okay Wahoo - a few more of our Momsters have checked in...Shirley, Wanda, Paula....life is good!
Good Night Whispers in your ear, Ceil...
Just got back from a meeting in Bedford. It was so good seeing both our eagles in the nest tonight. Hopefully tomorrow we will get the live feed back?
\
I'm good Shirley!
Had a nice steak dinner with my college kid tonight! He leaves for school in the morning. His brother is driving up with him in his truck to help him get all his stuff there in one trip!
Had a wonderful picnic at oldest son John's house yesterday, then went back down to do more painting.
Sorry to hear the live feed has been down...
I'm in and out, gotta check emails.
Judie
Having problems with the blogger. I commented that Sharon is speaking in code, but maybe the blogger is responsible.
She's pulling a Thelma/Buddy Shirley!
Good night Judie, best wishes for Tuesday's schedule...
Sounds great Paula Glad the boys can be together on the trip back to school...sure that comforts you...
Whoops! Sharon is at Thelma's, right? Mysterious things get posted from there!
love the Angel Tomato story, Margy and Wanda
SPLIT COMING UP....:)
Sweet and heart-warming story, Lolly
Best wishes for a good school week, Shirley...
