Hi all! New to the blog, but have been watching Hidey for a few months. My sister who lives close to the nest in MD sent me an e-mail - HOOKED ever since! Several of you were wondering if Hidey brought in her own fish yesterday afternoon - I was watching at the time and, no, she didn't. Parent, I think Lib, brought it in and anticipating Hidey's landing, laid low for her entry and left right after Hidey snapped at Lib's leg. I LOVE this little gal - and love all the blog comments. Found the blog the day Hidey fledged/branched because I wanted to know what y'all thought about it.
Good morning Norma!! Tom is doing really well, almost completely better. That antibiotic has really turned him around. I am so grateful we got it early before it went any further. He is working, had to go for a stress test yesterday and back to the doctor this afternoon. They want him to stay on the antibiotic for a few more weeks, but he is doing very well!! Thanks for asking!
yes, Norma, this will be my first day since I fractured my ribs there 6 weeks ago....long day too, trail shift, cam shift and monthly meeting, then heading back to beach tomorrow for the rest of the month

And thanks Fuzzle for the info on Hidey, Lynn pointed out to us several times , Hidey is too young to be catching his own food yet, about another 4 to 6 weeks for that I think
Norma, they have the long ledge view, it has been that way since they left the nest box....that is where 2 of them are sleeping now, guess they decided to sleep rather than fledge
You know? Like so many of us, we want to see Hidey grow up (and catch her own food), but at the same time we want her to stay in the nest forever. Hidey is such a beautiful little eagle.
My grizzly avatar: took a trip to Montana last year to visit the UM campus. Wasn't fortunate enough to see any grizzlies, nor did we catch sight of any EAGLES, but we did have some bison cross right in front of the car - that was a trip in itself!
Thank you Mits he'll finish testing on breathing today afternoon. See Pulmonary Dr. find out about this test and the CT Scan. We are really wanting to know about this because of his breathing.
Friday 6/12 he see's his cardiologist regular appt. but that might change with what we find out today. At least everything is scheduled close together.
I live in Salem MA - my daughter and I visited UM in Missoula Montana because she is contemplating grad school and this is one of the best sites for her concentration. I kinda fancied myself living in the Kalispell MT area as well, but then the recession hit hard so that is on hold for now as I am a work casualty -
Is anybody still having trouble with the cam freezing up or freezing your computer? I received an email back from myoutdoortv last night and they need to know at what times during the 15 minutes the freezing occurs. I know at times, when I click on play, it doesn't come up, just a frozen pic and I have to hit refresh to get it to come up.
Sharon it just stopped on me. If I hiit play it comes back up but is frozen. ALL the time when it stops and I hit play it comes up but is FROZEN. I have to refresh to get the cam back and running.
Morning everyone and welcome FuzzleMa (what a name)! I'm new to blogging also but have become addicted to it. After eating breakfast it's the first thing I have to do everyday. Love Hidey and wish she would never leave.Love all the comments from everyone and have learned a little more about my computer. Have to go to my weight loss class today and then out to EAT with Bible study group. Love, Gwen
Morning all! Welcome, FuzzleMA--neat handle! Thanks, Mits, for reinforcing that info....I was hoping that Paula could verify correctness, but see no reason why the Ohio "officials" wouldn't be right!!! Amazing how we forget from one year to the next.....guess we just think that Hidey is further advanced because of her/his independent nature! Do we need to send out an APB on Margy????? I hate to phone in case she's sleeping. Maybe her internet service (Verizon) is down. Good thoughts go with you and Ed when you go for test and results, Dana. Mits, enjoy your zoo time---bet they've really missed you...and please be very careful...want to use my eagle cane? Norma, had to laugh about your last-years jeans and "POP"----you are so tiny!!
lol Sharon that is so funny When I read Gwen's comment I looked over on computer desk where I just fixed and brought my breakfast in. I thought she eats first....I eat and watch lol Sharon your so funny.
Norma THANKS for the brain refresher I needed that. Right Andrew is going .... Sissy is going to beach. Sharon are you going to beach?
Morning all:) when the cam stops, if I hit the resume play button in middle of screen, I just get the 'barber pole' endlessly, usually have to hit refresh to get it to start again. For a while last nite, the button was working, but not at all today. Have too much bird drama here the past 2 days, yesterday had a small copperhead in a tree trying to get into a nest, catbird and mockingbird were going nuts attacking it, so we helped them get it out of the tree. The mockingbird nest which is right by the main entrance to one of the gardens, has at least one baby, who decided to hop out of the nest this morning, and the adults are following me around screaming at me and every bird in the yard whenever anyone gets too close to it. I got a picture of it, I'll post later if it's any good, can't get too close a pic, cause I am in danger of being dive bombed every time I go near the area. PS- feel free to join me on the financially challenged cruise down the creek in a rowboat, date and time to be announced. Have a great day all:)
Oh my floating down the creek. In my younger days we used my canoe and got dropped off way up Back Creek. Worked out way 2-day trip down. Loved it!!!
Today Megan I understand the comment financially challenged. It wuold be a "tube" for me. No more canoe long time back gone. Does sound inviting the coolness of the shade of the trees hanging over the creek as you pass by.
Updates Spring Update #4 - June 8, 2009 The eaglet fledged around dawn on Saturday, May 30. While this youngster can now fly, it still does not have the skills necessary to hunt, and thus will be back in the nest often for meals which will continue to be brought in by the adults. After fledging, young eagles stay near the nest for six to nine weeks practicing their ability to fly and hunt. The parents cannot tell juveniles how to hunt, they have to learn by watching the parents and practicing. During this time, they seem to spend more time looking at prey than they do actually attacking it. Until the first winter after they fledge, young eagles near the nest are often still fed by their parents, but have little other contact with them. Although a young eagle has the instincts to hunt, it lacks the skills. Eventually, they learn to soar and spot prey. If food is scarce during the winter, it could die.
Nesting cycle - From the time the parents build the nest and the young are on their own, takes about 20 weeks. During the nesting cycle the parents remain within one to two miles of the nest.
So parent had brought in food. Hidey mantled right away and had taken fish in its own talcon. Parent left. Hidey hops over to smudge in lens and begins to eat.
Well, it did not appear to be working, so I left it on the 30 sec. cam until I saw the adult on the nest. Now, when I opened it the live feed is working fine!
Don't know if it was working before but everything was dead quiet or not.......
Hi Folks, saw that double eagle treat a few mins ago, just a few seconds before Hidey landed, did you all see the large bird circle around away from the "far side" of the nest? I figured, at first it was Hidey, then when he dropped into the nest, thought it might have been the other parent. ? Missed the bird call, Dana, by just a few seconds...maybe next time. Computer froze up yesterday, THEN I lost internet during the storm. First time on to say Hi, and gotta run out the door right now too. So I will be polite later after I catch up on some 400 posts!
Hope you all are doing well. Special thoughts for Deb and family this morning.
Time for me to do my excercises. More fun! NOT!!! I am dieting some, but getting back to fixing some meals for the both of us. Not being as strict with my diet, but down another pound this morning! 42!!!!!!!
Good, Margy....thought I was going to have get presentable and make a drive into town!!! Was starting to worry! Shar---good that myoutdoortv is communicating with you and that they are working to resolve issues. TY!
After departing their home territory, young eagles will roam for 3-4 years. After that period of time, an eagle will return to within 100 miles of their home nest, to find a mate, establish a territory and breed.
06/09/09: We've updated our Osprey Cam Web Log with the latest news on our two chicks and the state of the 2009 nest.
Also, Bob Quinn has posted new photos showing wildlife around the Refuge, including a sika deer, an endangered Delmarva fox squirrel, and a branching eaglet.
I need to get up & moving around here. CT this afternoon (regularly scheduled one). Take care I'll pop back in before I leave to see if there is any action in the nest!
Afternoon All, haven't been here in a few days..trying to get things in order for the vacation. Off to Va. for a week with the grandchildren. Hidey sure looks good though
tee hee I just don't have time to play with the "play button" lol....only way to keep sanity I have left is to laugh about it. So refresh I am, I do, I will until they fix whatever.
Oh the birds sound so beautiful on our live cam. Hidey there picking at something.
Hey to all the Eagle Friends! I have been catching up on all the comments for the day. I missed the feeding this morning. Will be checking out the other sites. Welcome to the newbies!
I'm glad to see Hidey this morning. I always look forward to seeing if she is in the nest every day. AND I like talking to all my eagle buddies out there, too! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Just had a big crow in the tree across the street. Just about every bird known to man was after that bird. I am pretty sure it raided the robins' nest in the tree but hopefully didn't get it all. There were grackles, starlings, robins, and orioles after it, that I could see, but there were probably more. Now Alvin is out here eating. I just love that little feller.
Funeral services begin for Mr. Palmer 1 pm California time, that would be 4 pm our time. Sure am thinking about our little Sunshine Girl Deb, and all the family.
I'm still playing catch up, did read that Sissy's Tom is doing better....and that's about as far backwards as I have gotten. And I hope Dana's Ed gets through another round of doctor visit okay...
Best wishes for a good Zoo Day for Mits... and to everyone else for a Great Afternoon.... xo ☺ ♥
Thanks for reminding me, Margy, that I forgot to remark to Sissy about Tom....so glad that he is responding well...but Sis please do some intensive searching on web and don't let them discontinue antibiotics too soon.....some experts say minimum 6 mos.!
Thanks, FuzzleMA for the update of last's night fish dinner. I started watching after the arrival of the fish. Saw Hidey dragging the fish around the nest. She really picked that fish to the bones! Also, new. This is my first post. I enjoy reading all of the comments.
I'm having the same problem with the cam this morning, but it's OK if I refresh. Expect they'll get it straightened out.
Just wanted to say howdy, and then have to run. Gotta get ready and run to Riverside for Deb's dad's service. Won't be able to attend the get-together in Hemet afterward; it's just too long a drive, and I have a class tonight. Will be sure to say hello to Deb and give her a big hug for everyone, though. Just wish I could be meeting her under happier circumstances. Well, gotta run! Will update you all later. Have a blessed day! :o]
Margy, this whirling dervish is running out of oomph! Oh, well....definitely getting caught up on stuff I've let go too long! Having a mom visit for first time in 5 or 6 yrs. will do that! Of course, she's not a white-glove mother, but I still feel that I should meet that standard, and wish my girls would strive a bit more for that, too (especially eldest, but she has the least time to do it! I keep MBMS!!). Anyway, after this is all over with, I can relax and have fun company' if anyone wants to visit my Lair!
Hi and bye, Andrea. Thank you, dear girl, for being our in-person rep for our dear Deb. Bet she will be really touched. Hope you'll have time between the service and class to drop back in and let us know how things went.
Andrea, thanks so much for going to the service...I had no clue you were going to be in attendance until last night. I'm sure you're gone by now...thanks for the Hugs for Deb!
Andrea, bless you for going to the service. See, that is what I am talking about, how we love each other through stuff all the time. Even the new ones are doing it too! I am so grateful to be a part of!
Andrea going to the funeral service to represent the eaglet momsters is one of the most unselfish acts I have seen in a long while. Hope many blessings come her way for her kindness to Deb.
Well, that is really thoughtful of Andrea:) I'm glad to hear Tom is starting to feel better. The cleaner Hedgie's house gets, the dirtier mine becomes, I have tracked in so much dirt today it ain't even funny. Chaos here, as the little mockingbird just keeps traveling all over the garden and yard, and keeps getting shooed back under the holly tree by me. Sit out in the open here, and you'll be hawk bait. The adults have been shreiking all day nonstop, and the little bugger is pretty loud himself. I can hear him as I sit inside. Hope he makes it thru the nite, he is so vulnerable on the ground.
I asked our three CA members if there was any way possible that they please go....Andrea was the only one that it worked out for, and I am so glad that she could and would!
Lynn - thanks for having the forethought to get info to our CA buddies. I am glad that Andrea was close enough and had free time to be there to represent us and give hugs to Deb which I think she will be good at doing!
Hey sorry, didn't mean to imply your house was dirty.... I have just discovered that there are two baby mockers, they have wandered far away from each other, don't know how the adults are gonna keep track of them. Thunderstorms starting to form around us, may be some showers here again soon.
You may want to uninstall adobe flash player. Then turn off your computer, then reinstall adobe flash player. If you google it, it will take you right to their website, and it will determine what version you need to install. Give it a try.

Oh, Mits! Please do not fall down and go boom again! The thought of it makes me hurt!!!! Have a great day! Know you are happy to be going back.
Watching OK eaglet. Looks like it wants to take off so badly. And, I so badly want to watch it when it does!
** Good Morning **
** Everybody **
My live feed is not so live this A.M. ... nothing is moving. Yours??
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Live feed is working here, Jim
There's a lot of melodrama on the Loch Garten blog this week if you're interested.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Jim was it that way when you brought it up? or Did it play for awhile then stop?
My live feed is great! What is that bird that we hear?
Well Sharon I am back to when I hit the gold play button....the live cam if frozen. So I have to hit refresh!!
So far when I hit the gold button it comes back fine.
Good Eagle Morning Lolly
Bird you hear??? I hear sounds like a vacuum cleaner... :(
I don't know what that bird sound is...Lolly
Margy would know
from American Bald eagle info page.........
Dana, I hear the vacuum cleaner. LOL But there has been a bird call coming over loud and clear.
Mits, wish Margy was on!
Ohhhh, are you sure they are not down on Eagle School Road, sitting on little eaglet desks?
Must have missed a fish drop at OK. Eaglet is tearing into breakfast! Maybe it will get the enegy up to fledge.
Parent, our nest!
Good Morning All!
If adult is in the nest can Hidey be far behind?
I need to read & play catchup with your morning comments!
Hidey is close by,,,did parent bring food?
Can not tell if there is a meal or not, but Hidey is near the cam and making lots of noise.
I'm seeing parent and hearing Hidey.
nope does not look like food was brought in, quit whining hidey
I didn't see the fly in
Don't see any visible food unless it is
under the 'smudge'
Hidey must be up at cam or close by
The little stinker!
my bad maybe there was food there....
little whiner;)
There the little loudmouth whiner is!
Fly out by adult
I don't see any food.
Hippity Hop
with the prey in the left talon
Eating time is always such a big production. Fish caught in talon again this morning.
Looks loose now.
Oh, I see the brunch now, there it is!
Zoom in on the catch of the day
So parent had brought in food.
All's well that ends well.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
i've been away a few days. hidey seems to be comin' right along.
Ahhhh, breakfast, just as I was fixing my own. Yum!
HI JO!
Good, Jim!
Poof!
I thought it was rude to eat and run...
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Oh, wow, the OK eaglet has two fish and one is HUGE! Enough to feed an army!
Hi Lolly - have fun shopping !
I only go right now for shirts!
Hi Lisa - yepper the Kid is doing well!
Guess the morning show is over!
Ok, that time when I hit the gold button it froze and I got that green barber pole thingy. So, it is an intermittent problem.
Adult at OK now. Maybe wants his share of the meal.
Jim, Hidey hasn't been to manner school yet!
Wild Watch bluebird is in the nest
I guess we'll see a 2nd clutch
of course - she just went POOF
Special thoughts for Deb and family this morning.
xoxo TTFN xoxo
Time for me to do my excercises. More fun! NOT!!! I am dieting some, but getting back to fixing some meals for the both of us. Not being as strict with my diet, but down another pound this morning! 42!!!!!!!
BBL Before I go shopping!
LOLLY then click on REFRESH
and it should come up
It is about time you are showing up Magpie. We were getting ready to send them after you! :)
myoutdoortv just sent me an email saying they are trying to fix that issue.
Stealing fluff again. That is so funny. They are going to tell the kids that their new home used to be part of an eagle's nest.
Yeah Lolly!!!!
Ha, Dana....don't know what happened....it's done that before...gremlins in the cyberworld....why should I be surprised?????
Hey Morn'n Margy, Jo and Jim ( : Eagleland is up and going.
Lynn these computers have a mind of their own sometimes. lol
Was watching the NBG eaglets on limbs. They were doing lots of wings exercising. Haven't seen them in a long time.
Howdy, all.
Finally back! Internet went down!
Oh, and the green barber pole comes on when you are trying to reconnect and you don't have any internet!!
Hey Sharon,, I put a video of a fluff thief on the EM blog!
Lolly didn't you say the age of Hidey and OK Eaglet are close. If so OK should be fledging very soon. Since Hidey fledged on May 30th.
Watched video of "Fluff Thief" thanks Paula cute
Boy my sound is terrible...wish someone unplug the vacuum cleaner.
Good, Margy....thought I was going to have get presentable and make a drive into town!!! Was starting to worry!
Shar---good that myoutdoortv is communicating with you and that they are working to resolve issues. TY!
both O's at BWO
off to find a parking space at the zoo...cu later
Later Mits-- Hope the panda's don't grab you and give you a big hug. For you not being there for awhile.
Info on young eagles -
After departing their home territory, young eagles will roam for 3-4 years. After that period of time, an eagle will return to within 100 miles of their home nest, to find a mate, establish a territory and breed.
BWO Update
06/09/09:
We've updated our Osprey Cam Web Log with the latest news on our two chicks and the state of the 2009 nest.
Also, Bob Quinn has posted new photos showing wildlife around the Refuge, including a sika deer, an endangered Delmarva fox squirrel, and a branching eaglet.
BWE update
06/09/09:
A parent recently brought in a meal, and the eaglet rushed to the food and began aggressively mantling over it.
Looked like the eaglet practically pushed the adult out of the nest.
I was going to post earlier this morning that there was a juvie at BWE, then my internet went down!
I need to get up & moving around here.
CT this afternoon (regularly scheduled one).
Take care
I'll pop back in before I leave to see if there is any action in the nest!
BBILW
Plopped Hi Hidey !
Afternoon All, haven't been here in a few days..trying to get things in order for the vacation. Off to Va. for a week with the grandchildren. Hidey sure looks good though
Can't believe how many framed items I have hanging....until I start cleaning the glass!!! ARGH!
Has anyone been able to tell what the eagles have been carring to the nest to eat? I think one time I saw a snake but not sure. Nels MI
You must go see Bob's new photos at BWO cam. They are just beautiful colors and awesome pics. Thanks Paula for bringing our attention to them.
Sometimes the gold play button works and other times it doesn't.
Hidey in the nest!
Skeeter - we have seen mostly fish, but also turtles, squirrel, rabbits, and other mammals.
tee hee I just don't have time to play with the "play button" lol....only way to keep sanity I have left is to laugh about it. So refresh I am, I do, I will until they fix whatever.
Oh the birds sound so beautiful on our live cam. Hidey there picking at something.
It's surely possible they brought a snake or even an eel to the nest to eat.
Must leave try to drop in this evening. later
Hey to all the Eagle Friends! I have been catching up on all the comments for the day. I missed the feeding this morning. Will be checking out the other sites. Welcome to the newbies!
Jo, I did hit the refresh.
Dana, yes the OK eaglet is one week younger than Hidey. Should fledge any day now. However, it has to fly a little further than Hidey.
OK, Gators. I'll see you later. Off to spend Jack's money. Shhh!
Don't tell him. I want a flattering summer dress. I'm off!
I'm glad to see Hidey this morning. I always look forward to seeing if she is in the nest every day. AND I like talking to all my eagle buddies out there, too! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Check this out:
BaldBirds?
Just had a big crow in the tree across the street. Just about every bird known to man was after that bird. I am pretty sure it raided the robins' nest in the tree but hopefully didn't get it all. There were grackles, starlings, robins, and orioles after it, that I could see, but there were probably more. Now Alvin is out here eating. I just love that little feller.
I think I see the robin feeding a baby so maybe some of the eggs hatched before the crow could get them.
Whoa Sharon! Look at Lynn's link.
Remember your bald headed cardinal (?) last year? Ho Ho!
Wow, that is exactly what my poor female bald-headed cardinal looked like last year. Had completely forgotten about that! :)
No one posted it but Hidey flew the coop...didn't see it myself but the nest has been MT for 10 minutes or more!
I'm having a terrible time with the cam today. Getting a little aggravated. Anybody else having trouble?
Mine is running OK
Mine is working okay.
Mine was just frozen.
I am off - Touch base when I return
I'm headed back to bed...
Hedgie - I can also say that of the posts I have read, you are keeping up with your reputation as a Whirling Dervish!
Everything you are doing in preparation for your family visit sounds Great !
I can't keep up on things on my workdays, folks, but I look forward once again to catching up on all the news...
xoxo
Thanks, FuzzleMA for the update of last's night fish dinner. I started watching after the arrival of the fish. Saw Hidey dragging the fish around the nest. She really picked that fish to the bones!
Also, new. This is my first post.
I enjoy reading all of the comments.
Finally was able to open Bobs' latest pics. Great, aren't they?
Welcome, Skye!!
Welcome Skye. It is so good having so many new people. Now if I can just remember who is who. Skye, where are you from?
Hi, Everybody!
Welcome, Skye!
Welcome, skye. Are you hooked on Hidey??
Hi and bye, Andrea. Thank you, dear girl, for being our in-person rep for our dear Deb. Bet she will be really touched. Hope you'll have time between the service and class to drop back in and let us know how things went.
Andrea, thanks so much for going to the service...I had no clue you were going to be in attendance until last night. I'm sure you're gone by now...thanks for the Hugs for Deb!
Andrea, bless you for going to the service. See, that is what I am talking about, how we love each other through stuff all the time. Even the new ones are doing it too! I am so grateful to be a part of!
Sissy - glad to hear Tom is feeling better!
Andrea going to the funeral service to represent the eaglet momsters is one of the most unselfish acts I have seen in a long while. Hope many blessings come her way for her kindness to Deb.
Andrea - God Bless You for what you are doing in the Momster/Dadster's name for our Deb today by going to meet her at her Dad's memorial service.
Welcome Skye! Your first post is Great and we look forward to many more from you!
Well, that is really thoughtful of Andrea:)
I'm glad to hear Tom is starting to feel better.
Sounds like Hidey is nearby.
I asked our three CA members if there was any way possible that they please go....Andrea was the only one that it worked out for, and I am so glad that she could and would!
Hope the little guy stays out of harms way, Megan.
Put him in the GH tonight Megan - unless you still have snakes in there!
did something change with the eaglecam website? My camera window appears smaller and it's not streaming...
Lynn - thanks for having the forethought to get info to our CA buddies. I am glad that Andrea was
close enough and had free time to be there to represent us and give hugs to Deb which I think she will be good at doing!
Megan, the hawk could carry you away!!! Please watch out!
Hey----don't think my house was DIRTY----just needs a lot of spiffing and decluttering!!!
