It seems to me that not as many people are staying with jobs as long now as they used to. It is so easy to move on to another location now.

Mits said...

that is certainly true, Deb, as one of his co-workers told me last week, he does not like change, and I said yes, that is why we have been married for 35 years.

Good morning! Rude awakening this morning with a phone call. The boys stay so quiet.

Mit, I hope your jubby retires soon. Retirement is so great. Jack worked 37 years at the same job, straight from college, retired at age 60. Greatest thing he ever did. We are enjoying our time together.

Plans for today. Take the boys shopping. Joseph needs hiking boots and Jacob new tennies. Hair cut appointments are scheduled at 12:15. Then we return them to their own home after supper. Laurel and Joey should arrived around 9 or so. Then we have a just a few days to get ready to leave for Colorado.

Mits said...

his plan now to retire is September 2010, Lolly, have fun today

Good morning everyone. Norma, did your Dr. visit go o.k.? I just found the NBG cam and love it. Beautiful pictures and watched one eagle just take off. Haven't found the Finney cam and some of the others ya'll find. I usually go under birdspeak or something like that. Keep giving me hints. Thanks, Gwen Hope Hidey drops in soon!

Stayed up most of the night, going to sleep most of the day before returning to work tonight.

We're missing a few of our Early Birds...Hope everyone is okay.

Best Wishes for a Good Day...rainy or otherwise. Watch out for people who don't know how to drive in the rain :(

Lolly - it sounds as though you are really enjoying the time with the children ☺

Prayers from me for all our needs here, including your friend's Mother, Deb

Thought I heard Wing Flappings at OUR nest ! But I guess it might be the wind...

Good Night..... xoxo ☺ ♥

Good Morning All! Some rain showers here in the valley - I hope I have a good report also with my Dr visit later this am. I sometimes feel like I'm ready to pass/fail a test with my CT film results!
Germany gang not yet on a plane to the USA - should be Thurs or Fri. Getting anxious.

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!

We finally have an answer about the Jacob/Gavin question-- my Gavin is NOT the one, although the similarities are AMAZING! My Gavin goes to a Lutheran Church preschool. His mom says it might be fun to have the kids meet, though. Lolly, let me know if you're interested. :o]

Mema Jo said...

Good to have closure on any mystery, Andrea! Perked us all up a bit with
the coincidence! lol

Headed in to get ready for my morning excursions!

BBL

Ms Bookworm said...

Say, the rain at the nest sure sounds relaxing. Keep hearing a slight noise at the cam. Think it's a branch in the breeze rather than our (probably kinda wet) Hidey, though.

MITS, we have some things in common-- my Hubby has been at his job since Dec. 1965, and we've been married for 38 years! What you're saying is sounding very familiar! LOL :oD

hedgie said...

Morning all. Very rainy day here in the Eastern Panhandle. Yuck! Mushrooms/toadstools sprouting all over the place.
No Hidey in sight.
Mema JO....it's called "scanxiety" and we all go through it!!!! I'm sure all will be good results!
No one showing up until noon again....so brunch will be lunch, but still breakfast food! Then we'll get busy making a lot of the food for the party tomorrow---potato salad, deviled eggs, BIRTHDAY CAKE!

Mits said...

yes , Andrea, can't keep a good man down....:)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Atlanta is announcing some big news about their giant panda program but I can't get in to see what they are saying.

hedgie said...

Aw, shucks, too bad that the mystery turned out NOT to be the coincidence we were all hoping for :(---but it was fun conjecturing!

Ms Bookworm said...

Yup, Mits, you got that right! ;o}

Mits said...

think it is about whether they are staying or going home to China, Sharon

Ms Bookworm said...

I know-- I'm kinda disappointed too, but if the two should get the chance to meet, maybe they would become friends. That would be pretty neat!

hedgie said...

Wonder what it could be, Shar????

Mits said...

ATLANTA -- Zoo Atlanta officials are expected to announce Wednesday morning that they will be launching a grassroots campaign to raise money to keep the giant pandas in Atlanta.

The zoo's 10-year lease with China ends this year, an agreement that costs the zoo about $2 million a year, including $1.1 million in loan fees.

Atlanta is one of just four U.S. zoos to display giant pandas.

Couple Lun Lun and Yang Yang have had two cubs since coming to the city in 1999. Mei Lan was born in 2006, and cub Xi Lan was born last fall.

The zoo will make the announcement at 10 a.m.

Ms Bookworm said...

Gee, it sounded like someone landed on or near the cam-- could it be our wandering 'college student', coming home to get the laundry done? (...and of course, a free meal?!)

hedgie said...

That's what I was thinking, too, Mits! Hope it's a stay and not a go!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Campaign to raise money to keep the pandas. Buta Buta has already been recommended to return to China!
:(*.*.*.

hedgie said...

Well, saying bye for now...gotta go get my hair fixed and make-up on, and then start the coffee and sausage. Talk to you all later this evening. Hope everyone has a good day!

Ms Bookworm said...

Gosh, you guys, I feel so relaxed this morning-- talked to "Dr. V.", my teacher for 'Human Diseases' & 'Surgical Instruments' last night after class. I was concerned about how much material would be covered on tonight's test, since I wasn't at class last Wednesday. He was SO nice; said not to take the test tonight, but postpone it, and take 2 tests next week, after having a fair amount of time to study for them. I was pleasantly surprises to see that I got a 90 out of 100 on last Tuesday's test!
Feel like I'm finally getting my rusty brain in gear! LOL :o]

Checked out the OK cam and eaglet must have stayed in the tree overnight cause he is still there!

Hello all:)
Beautiful rainy morning here, just what my garden needed.

Mits said...

Mei Lan is more valuable to go back to her home in China, because she is a female, they have more males than females at most of the preserves

Ms Bookworm said...

...Oops! That's 'surprised', not 'surprises'! Better get some coffee soon! Brain fade!

Oh, Sharon & Mits, I HOPE it works out that the pandas can stay here!! A grassroots campaign might be just the thing to get the job done.

Ms Bookworm said...

Thanks, Jo, Mits & Sharon! It sure helps to have such a good cheering section behind me! :o] :o] :o]

Before I forget, Prayers for Jo for a good Dr. report!

Norma, congratulations for your good Dr. report! Prayers for continued success!!! I'm agreeing in prayer with you for Ed & Dana, Lynn's (Hedgie's) friend, and Deb's friend (or was it her friend's mom? Won't hurt to pray for both of them!)

floralgirl said...

Yikes, hard to catch up here..
Glad Deb made it thru the nasty storms, sounds like it was scary.
Congrats Andrea on your test score:)
Congrats to Mits hubby on his job anniversary, that's quite an achievement. And the 35 yrs. of marriage ain't bad either:)
Glad Norma had a good checkup, hope Jo has the same.
And it sounds like Lolly and Jsck have loved having the grandkids around.

Thanks Mits for the easy way to get to the sites. They are so good. Did ya'll hear what happened at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia SC? A gorilla escaped for a short while and slightly injured one of the workers. After seeing such a panic around him he went back into his enclosure. They think some bamboo fell into his home after a storm and enabled his way out. Talk later. Love, Gwen

that is really sad news, Sharon, prayers for her....

floralgirl said...

Wow, that is awful, Sharon. She is so young to be dealing with that. Hope things will improve for her.

Ms Bookworm said...

Sharon, my prayers will certainly be with her-- what's her name? God bless her and her family!

I just remembered, I need to run to the Post Office really quickly, and mail my job search questionnaire back to EDD so I get another unemployment check! I'll leave you with a picture of a friend from Lake Arrowhead...BBIALW

Prayers help us all! Good Report!
The patchy spots on the lungs from the COPD are clearing. That is good news! I have been troubled with a loose cough so I'll go on an antibiotic and go back in 4 weeks. My Dr does take good care of me! And so do all your prayers!

ZOO ATLANTA has raised $2 million, in an effort to keep the Pandas. They are asking the public for 500.00 more. China is asking for 2.5 million for 5 years. WOW

Mits said...

good news, Jo

Mema Jo said...

Man - Atlanta only needs to raise
$500,000 to keep their popular giant pandas. That's a lot of $ and doesn't include the Bamboo!

OK Cam still showing eaglet in his tree.

Steady rain here - happy for Megan!
Happy for my potted flowers!

Mits - I thought my 13 yrs was a long hitch with the same employment but hubby's 40 years is a milestone!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mema Jo, that is wonderful news!! YEAH!!

Mits said...

2.5 million for 5 years is a discount bargain price, usual asking price is a million a year per panda

Hi Everyone in Animalcam Land!;>)
Didn't get on 'puter last night to dwnld any pics---konked out after din-din.
You'll have to imagine a cool incident we just witnessed. Behind our "farmhouse" office where I'm at today is a nice pond w/shrubs & short trees around it. Two geese w/their 2 goslings were on the grass, walking toward the pond. A lovely red fox was walking along the shrub border & Mr. Gander lowered his head and did the usual goose charge!!Foxy hightailed it back into the woods! Wish we had known that was comming---would be a great video!
For Megan and other bothered plant growers----for the first time in 5 years, the deer have attacked our butterfly garden at the Park. They pruned the tops of all the purple coneflowers, but nothing else!!

Hello everyone,

For GA-GIRL: Would be more than happy to send some rain your way. Here in the nation's capital area we've had rain almost everyday for the past three weeks plus. Can't even get garden plants in because of the saturation.

Hope to see Hidey sometime today.I hear some squeaking but no actual little one.

Hi, gang,
I'm back from the P.O., and have a chicken in to roast for dinner (more like a couple of dinners-- it's almost a 6 lb. bird!). I'm trying our new Wolfgang Puck electric skillet/roaster that we bought on HSN. Anyone else have one like it?

Ms Bookworm said...

Jo, that's FANTASTIC news from your Dr.!!! Thank the Lord!!! That reminds me-- I need to make an appt. with the dermatology specialist to have a mole taken off my chest. It's not really ugly yet, just starting to change. Don't want to give it a fighting chance! Good idea to get checked out once a year anyway, for moles you can't see yourself. I'm gonna go call while it's on my mind-- before CRS sets in! Be right back... :o]

GA-GIRL said...

HEY GUYS, STEVE HAS SENT US A RAINY DAY THREAD..

LETS GO

Lolly said...

Andrea, saw the report on your Gavin. Shucks!! That would have been fun. Oh well!

As for our boys getting together...that would have to be up to my daughter. She lives in north Denton, just north of the loop. She teaches in Corinth, but it is the Denton ISD. She lives very close to the water park. It is co-owned by Denton ISD and the city of Denton. If your niece goes to the water park, possibly they could meet there and let the boys play.
