I am thinking that maybe I should have been more patient and not sent the email out yet but it really was just information, not complaining. You know, the other end of tech support! :)
I just cut some weeds from around the house. Boy do I pray I am still not allergic to poison ivy because I was all in it. Don't think I have ever had an allergic reaction to it.
Thought she was gone but then she skeered the pee-water out of me when she jumped back into the nest from under the cam. What a beautiful bird that is.
As I pointed out yesterday...the article that Tammy gave us about the eaglet iun Ohio contained the info that the juvies don.t begin to hunt for their own food until 17-20 weeks of age....if that is true, Hidey has a while yet before (s)he gets own food.
So glad Hidey came to see me tonight. I've been gone most of the day so missed him. Sounded like he just sneezed, it was so precious. Hope everyone had a good day. It was beautiful weather in SC but 90 degrees and humid.Take care everyone and have a good night. Love, Gwen
Well, as bad as I hate to, I have got to leave the computer for a bit. In case anyone goes to bed, I will go ahead and tell you good night. For the night owls on here, I will check back in a bit. I have got to get my act together and make my room reservations for the Open House. I look forward to meeting as many Eagle Momsters and Dadsters that I can. This is a great site! Oh, bought me a blank journal to make my cheat sheets in. LOL
I hope you are going to share that cheat sheet once you get it done! lol
I wish that all of you would put your STATE in your profile information on here. That is one thing I look for when I click on your name - and maybe an email address.
I wonder if KIMM or Susan in Central VA were able to go to NCTC and view the nest - I think it was this past weekend for Susan - Not sure when Kimm was going.
So far this evening in viewing the cam - when it cuts off I have been able to click on PLAY and it does bring it right back up. Since it is quiet on there now - I just heard the WIND as I was going to say I didn't know if the sound was working without my refreshing it.
I have no cam! Yeah, hedgie, I am hooked and I so look forward tot he open house. Jo, I'll share my cheat sheet if you will share your cheat sheet. LOL
I keep trying to get my cam back on but it won't come back.
Jo, Susan was going to visit NCTC sometime this week....they are camping up here around Martinsburg. Kimm was supposed to have come Sat., but haven't heard whether she made it or not....Wanda never heard from her.
I thought Kimm was coming up this weekend, because if I was going to stay in town this week to see my nephew, whose trip got cancelled, I was going to go up to the nest
Talk about freaking out! I about had a heart attack! A spider crept across my computer desk and disappeared under some papers! I took a CD case and smacked and smacked!! Finally, I looked under each of the papers...couldn't find it...it finally came out again and I got it that time!!
Good evening, haven't been able to get on much because of thunderstorms at home. Can't get on during the workday right now because of bandwidth concerns during state testing at school. It would not do to crash the system while students are taking tests.
I see Hidey is resting on the edge of the nest and being bothered by bugs.
This is my first time to see the new camera set-up. Different. I did go back and read everyone's comments about it.
I'm reading your questions and comments about restarting the cam, too, Paula. I think I am doing it right, but it took some experimenting. What does it mean when the green barber pole thing comes on?
Shirley, tbe green barber pole came on when restarting after 15 minutes of viewing...the long gray bar right under the picture...hmmm mine is on now...
Picture seems smaller. Someone said this new set-up is to save bandwidth?
I do know about bandwidth problems. You hear about that when you work in a public school and lots of students are using computers at the same time. We have to stagger the times they log on.
I spent some time reading all the comments about the new set-up. It will take some adjusting. Really miss the larger picture. My eyes are 67 years old.
Stronghunter - My eyes are 70 yrs old sooooooo My mouse has a scroll wheel in the center of it! Any chance yours does? If you hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and SCROLL the wheel on the mouse - It increases the entire size of the cam pic.
The Zoom in will increase the size of a certain area when you place your cursor.
I can make the picture larger by clicking on the % sign at the lower right corner of my screen or by pressing CTRL while rolling the roller that is in the midddle of the mouse.
I have the % sign, too, at the lower right side of my screen. I will experiment with it. I have used it before, but quality is not as good when you increase the percentage.
Wanda, you're the 2nd person to mention Hidey's pedicure----I haven't seen what you all are talking about, but keep imagining pink talon polish!! Nice to see Lowreeda back with us....but she has probably been dealing with storms since she left work and couldn't get on.
Well, I'm calling it a day. Paula, we've both had our creature story for the day....I'll take mine over yours! I HATE SPIDERS....and they truly do scare the devil out of me. Goodnight to all...pleasant dreams...peace and prayers. Love to Deb if she gets a chance to check in.
Carol, if you uninstall shockwave, make sure you re-install it after you do flashplayer....some things need it in order to view. Don't need to uninstall your Adobe Reader....that's something seperate. Bye!
Thanks Paula - I uninstalled and reinstalled, but no cam. Do I need to reboot? Well, it's time for bed anyhow. I trust that Hidey is safe and well without me needing to see. Tomorrow is a new day.
A quick good morning. I will be grabbing a cup of coffee and then must get ready for work. Hoped to get in here before Hidey took off this morning, but see I didn't make it.
I don't know if she did or not. I don't know if someone actually saw her land with it but it was stuck on her talons at one point, from what I have read on the blog. But I haven't read the whole thing. If I start doing that, I will be sitting here working all day!! But, that is what I gather, anyway.
Tammy, I can't do the blue link like every one else, but there is the web site. You can copy and paste it. Yeah, it is a camera in Botswana, Africa. Very cool. You can see all different kinds of animals during the day and night. I really love it!!

I think this is normal. I know that it was like this before and then one day they just didn't come back. Sharon had to tell me to surrender that, cause I kept watching for them. I don't know where they go after that, find a new home and start making way for having their own families I reckon.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... Hidey is an early bird...Probably gone fishing with Lib & Belle. Makes you feel good, doesn't it, to see Hidey doing so well. Only worry we have now is what are we going to do when he doesn't ccme back anymore:(

LOL BIBEE - I said we'll give it a good week before we sign the petition!
Spidey is on the move.
Hidey peeps like that when he has food and an adult is nearby
ZOOM IN on that prey and see if you can ID it!
I had to shut down the live feed :(
Really freezing up my computer tonight!
I am thinking that maybe I should have been more patient and not sent the email out yet but it really was just information, not complaining. You know, the other end of tech support! :)
I think the prey may be of the mammalian persuasion!
WOW
Just got the 15 min idle
Clicked on play
Cam came right back up to where I had it - zoom and all!
Do You think I just got lucky?
I have the blog, live feed and my email opened....
I thought it might be a small squirrel when he hopped across the nest with it.
I just cut some weeds from around the house. Boy do I pray I am still not allergic to poison ivy because I was all in it. Don't think I have ever had an allergic reaction to it.
But, in knowing how my body is these days, I will probably have it up my nose.
That is a fish and it is still stuck. Hidey is not liking that at all.
Yeah, detached from talon!
All I have to do is look at poison ivy and I get it.
I'm so proud of Hidey! Looks like she got her own supper! Wonder where her mom and dad are at? Chow down, baby girl!
Parent just dropped down into the nest
Adult just arrived.
Lib is in the nest now and I guess going to feed the little baby!
Grabbed the food and is eating and feeding Hidey.
Parent has the grub and is feeding Hidey.
Decided to try the live feed again..
Still freezing up my computer....gonna go do paperwork...will check back in later
Looks to me like Hidey is just sitting there waiting on a bite from her parent. She really is spoiled!
Thought she was gone but then she skeered the pee-water out of me when she jumped back into the nest from under the cam. What a beautiful bird that is.
Sure do wish they ate spiders and liked to lick cameras! :)
All I can see of Hidey is the tail sticking out from behind the blob.
Hidey sure is showing off for the camera tonight!
As I pointed out yesterday...the article that Tammy gave us about the eaglet iun Ohio contained the info that the juvies don.t begin to hunt for their own food until 17-20 weeks of age....if that is true, Hidey has a while yet before (s)he gets own food.
Hi! Wonder if Hidey will spend the night in the nest? Acting awfully restless!
Had a phone call and missed the adult!
BLESS YOU HIDEY
Bless you!
Hidey looks like she has had her nails done. They are beautiful!
I have a feeling that Hidey wants to go up on the branch....
Going to get some ice cream!!!
Sugar free ! Better then nothing !
Very good, Jo!
So glad Hidey came to see me tonight. I've been gone most of the day so missed him. Sounded like he just sneezed, it was so precious. Hope everyone had a good day. It was beautiful weather in SC but 90 degrees and humid.Take care everyone and have a good night. Love, Gwen
It is still 75° in Nature's Air Conditioned City tonight and humid!
I don't know why but I love when I see Hidey blink!
We are down to about 65° since the storms went through.
Well, as bad as I hate to, I have got to leave the computer for a bit. In case anyone goes to bed, I will go ahead and tell you good night. For the night owls on here, I will check back in a bit. Way to go, Bibee.....you're hooked!!!
I hope you are going to share that cheat sheet once you get it done! lol

I need to take a break
Close your eyes Hidey and go to sleep!
BBILW
Mine is coming back up good too now Mema Jo.
My Hidey cam is not working! Just a blank screen :-(
I have no cam!
I finally got Hidey back. I was getting pretty mad. I was fussing to my husband.
I thought Kimm was coming up this weekend, because if I was going to stay in town this week to see my nephew, whose trip got cancelled, I was going to go up to the nest
got some things to do, so will say goodnight everyone:)
Talk about freaking out! I about had a heart attack! A spider crept across my computer desk and disappeared under some papers! I took a CD case and smacked and smacked!! Finally, I looked under each of the papers...couldn't find it...it finally came out again and I got it that time!!
EEEEWWWWWW!!!!!

I see Hidey is resting on the edge of the nest and being bothered by bugs.
This is my first time to see the new camera set-up. Different. I did go back and read everyone's comments about it.
My cam is up and running...I see that Hidey decided to spend the night...perched at 10 on the nest.
We really shouldn't worry now about him on that edge....he has spent nights perched on branches!!
Guess Hidey has to get older before she will put her head under her wing. Maybe that would be a good way to escape bugs.
Does anyone know why birds sleep that way?
Carol- you may have to do several things to get the cam.
Uninstall Adobe Flash player.
Shutdown your computer, let sit for 1 minute. Then turn it back on.
Download the latest version of Adobe flash player, it will tell you whether you need version 10 or 9 and will do that when you say download.
Then try the cam again.
And my computer is running better, had to clear out the temp files...
Good Night Eagle Friends! Think I will turn the computer off for tonight. Glad to see that Hidey is staying home for right now. Sweet Dreams!
Question - when you are restarting the cam, are you hitting the arrow in the middle of the screen or one of the buttons at the bottom?
Belle was lucky when she was incubating...bugs weren't out yet!
I'm reading your questions and comments about restarting the cam, too, Paula. I think I am doing it right, but it took some experimenting. What does it mean when the green barber pole thing comes on?
What on earth is happening to our cam? On the fritz or another change by our new provider?
Weird noise!
Shirley, tbe green barber pole came on when restarting after 15 minutes of viewing...the long gray bar right under the picture...hmmm mine is on now...
Well I had to turn off the live feed again...gotta get me a new computer! This is driving me crazy.
No Wanda, an update.
Can you get the live feed?
Most everyone can...
Picture seems smaller. Someone said this new set-up is to save bandwidth?
I do know about bandwidth problems. You hear about that when you work in a public school and lots of students are using computers at the same time. We have to stagger the times they log on.
You have to refresh after 15 minutes...they are trying to conserve bandwidth. Many comments to read about it.
I am getting a live feed as far as I can tell. Just have to restart it every once in awhile.
Yes, I can now. When I first turned on 'puter, I had a frozen screen and after refreshing, I lost everything. OK now.
Yup, pic is smaller. Zoom is different. Read the comments about that too, it's different for everyone, depends upon your browser.
Reminds me of Lynn with her computer...if she uses it too much she get cut off (or something like that).
Just tried zooming. Seems to work okay.
BBIALW
Hidey looks as if he had a pedicure and nail polish. Never noticed his nails like that before.
I spent some time reading all the comments about the new set-up. It will take some adjusting. Really miss the larger picture. My eyes are 67 years old.
Poor Hidey! Those bugs are so annoying! I wonder if when perched on a limb away from the nest they are bugged by bugs?
Hope Hidey doesn't topple off the edge of the nest!
Well, that was easy enough...I just got the 15 minute warning, clicked on PLAY and there it was:)
Thanks Paula I guess I'll have to try it - can't go without my Hidey fix. I hope I'm able to get back here! In case I missed it, why did this happen?
Shirley, did you right click and cllick on zoom?
I expect the nest attracts bugs, considering all the "stuff" they have brought in there.
Yes, I just right-clicked and clicked on zoom. Same choices as before.
Trying to save Bandwidth. I guess we have soooo many viewers that it has to be done this way to accomodate everyone???
I can make the picture larger by clicking on the % sign at the lower right corner of my screen or by pressing CTRL while rolling the roller that is in the midddle of the mouse.
Yes, I see the picture is larger when I zoomed on Hidey.
Well it is that time!!!
Good night all
Prayers for all needs being said
Mainly prayers for Good Health
Thinking of Deb with her family now
Thinking of Ed & the breathing test
(((hugs))) ♥
Jo, yes the scroll wheel thing does work.
Thanks,
Shirley
Lynn, it looked like the first half of his/her talons are painted black and shiney.
Before I go uninstalling the wrong thing - which of these is the one to uninstall:
adobe flash player 10 active X
adobe reader 9.1.1
adove shockwave player 11
Thanks!
Hey...sounds like a good name for a new concoction for Capt. Eagle to stir up! "Painted Talons";)
I can't believe you can see such detail as the color of the different parts of the talons. Right now they are hidden in the nest material.
I don't know Carol...Paula will help you when she comes back on:)
OK, I'm going too.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
Now I see the dark colors on the talons.
Carol, if you uninstall shockwave, make sure you re-install it after you do flashplayer....some things need it in order to view. Don't need to uninstall your Adobe Reader....that's something seperate. Bye!
I'm going to call it quits, too. Good night.
Good night all!
Sweet dreams!
Carol-
uninstall this one
adobe flash player 10 active X
Don't know why that happens sometimes...
and to find the download again, just google adobe flash player
Nite to those hitting the pillows...
BBI 10 minutes!
Thanks Paula - I uninstalled and reinstalled, but no cam. Do I need to reboot? Well, it's time for bed anyhow. I trust that Hidey is safe and well without me needing to see. Tomorrow is a new day.
Carol- did you shut down after you uninstalled? You can also try rebooting first.
Night all!
Hugs to all ♥
Hidey is still on the nest at 10
Carol - do you have the link for the 30 second cam?
http://www.fws.gov/nctc/cam/
wELL, Hidey is perched at about 10 o'clock and can be seen clearly tonight...still has that buggy issue.
And either a younger spidey or his prey is running all over the camera lens at the moment.
Does the live feed frame look smaller to you now?? Or is it just the other material surrounding it making it "look" smaller??
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
2AM and all is well with the world and our precious Hidey who is sleeping on the side of the nest at the 10 oclock position.
I love checking in and seeing Hidey at home, sweet home.
4AM and Hidey is lying down but awake - keeps shaking his head. Possibly pestering bugs?
You gotta love that our Hidey still comes "home" to sleep in his own nest!
Congrats Hidey! Heard you caught your own dinner last night!
Good morning all!! I see our precious Hidey kicked back in the nest this morning. She is so beautiful!
** GOOD NIGHT **
** GOOD MORNING **
I'm shutting down and headed to the rack. Talk later.
Jim
There she went!!
Cleaning the cam at Pete's Pond. That was an unexpected site!!
Gave us a thumbs up at Pete's Pond!
Sun is rising at Kure Beach on the surf cam, beautiful!! Nine more days!!!!
A quick good morning. I will be grabbing a cup of coffee and then must get ready for work. Hoped to get in here before Hidey took off this morning, but see I didn't make it.
Good morning stronghunter! No, she left about 30 minutes ago! Sorry you missed here.
Will spend my day with excited seniors getting ready to graduate. Picnic today.
Good morning Sissy.
So we think Hidey caught her own fish yesterday?
Yeah, I saw that! Very cool. She is going to be self sufficient before much longer!! Our baby is growing up!! :((((
She came to the nest with a fish in her talons?
When is your last day of school?
Good Morning All...
I keep seeing mention of "Pete's Pond". If I may ask, is this another webcam site that is open to the public?
How far would she have to fly to the river?
I don't know if she did or not. I don't know if someone actually saw her land with it but it was stuck on her talons at one point, from what I have read on the blog. But I haven't read the whole thing. If I start doing that, I will be sitting here working all day!! But, that is what I gather, anyway.
Pete's Pond is a National Geographic site. Really interesting one. Google it.
http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/wildcamafrica/
Tammy, I can't do the blue link like every one else, but there is the web site. You can copy and paste it. Yeah, it is a camera in Botswana, Africa. Very cool. You can see all different kinds of animals during the day and night. I really love it!!
Seniors graduate on the 13th. Others finish on the 16th.
The river is right over the hill from the nest, not far at all "as the eagle flies".
We can think Hidey caught that fish.
Thank you Stronghunter, I will.
Hidey's flying skills have improved quickly in the past week.
Thank you very much Sissy... On my way!!
Hidey's had her own graduation.
Bye for now Tammy and Sissy. Must go to work.
Right, exactly. The awesomeness of the whole process with these eagles just amazes me. Who would have ever thought we could have a front row seat to such a wonderful process as watching an eaglet hatch and grow and become self sufficient. Used to be only something people would dream of!!
Hi Tammy, Sissy, Strong -
What a great spot Hidey is in now. I've never seen him on that branch in front of the camera.
Love this eaglet!!
OH - Hidey's gone.
Story of my life. Always missing the baby.
Well, I am sitting right here and missed that visit altogether, Lori!! Good morning!
It's amazing how much s/he comes and goes.
Is this normal for youngsters to spend this much time in and out of the nest?
I remember when Hidey fledged and I thought I'd never see her again. I'm so happy s/he's hanging around.
Only worry we have now is what are we going to do when he doesn't ccme back anymore:(
Lori, have you finished your pictures of the nest visit yet?
NEW THREAD....COME ON OVER....
