I have the blog, live feed and my email opened....
I thought it might be a small squirrel when he hopped across the nest with it.
I just cut some weeds from around the house. Boy do I pray I am still not allergic to poison ivy because I was all in it. Don't think I have ever had an allergic reaction to it.
But, in knowing how my body is these days, I will probably have it up my nose.
That is a fish and it is still stuck. Hidey is not liking that at all.

I'm so proud of Hidey! Looks like she got her own supper! Wonder where her mom and dad are at? Chow down, baby girl!
Parent just dropped down into the nest

Looks to me like Hidey is just sitting there waiting on a bite from her parent. She really is spoiled!
Thought she was gone but then she skeered the pee-water out of me when she jumped back into the nest from under the cam. What a beautiful bird that is.
Sure do wish they ate spiders and liked to lick cameras! :)
All I can see of Hidey is the tail sticking out from behind the blob.

As I pointed out yesterday...the article that Tammy gave us about the eaglet iun Ohio contained the info that the juvies don.t begin to hunt for their own food until 17-20 weeks of age....if that is true, Hidey has a while yet before (s)he gets own food.

I wonder if KIMM or Susan in Central VA were able to go to NCTC and view the nest - I think it was this past
weekend for Susan - Not sure when Kimm was going.
So far this evening in viewing the cam - when it cuts off I have been able to click on PLAY and it does bring it right back up. Since it is quiet on there now - I just heard the WIND as I was going to say I didn't know if the sound was working without my refreshing

Jo, Susan was going to visit NCTC sometime this week....they are camping up here around Martinsburg. Kimm was supposed to have come Sat., but haven't heard whether she made it or not....Wanda never heard from her.
I finally got Hidey back. I was getting pretty mad. I was fussing to my husband.
I thought Kimm was coming up this weekend, because if I was going to stay in town this week to see my nephew, whose trip got cancelled, I was going to go up to the nest

Talk about freaking out! I about had a heart attack! A spider crept across my computer desk and disappeared under some papers! I took a CD case and smacked and smacked!! Finally, I looked under each of the papers...couldn't find it...it finally came out again and I got it that time!!

Good evening,haven't been able to get on much because of thunderstorms at home. Can't get on during the workday right now because of bandwidth concerns during state testing at school. It would not do to crash the system while students are taking tests.
I see Hidey is resting on the edge of the nest and being bothered by bugs.
This is my first time to see the new camera set-up. Different. I did go back and read everyone's comments about it.
My cam is up and running...I see that Hidey decided to spend the night...perched at 10 on the nest.
We really shouldn't worry now about him on that edge....he has spent nights perched on branches!!
Guess Hidey has to get older before she will put her head under her wing. Maybe that would be a good way to escape bugs.
Does anyone know why birds sleep that way?
Carol- you may have to do several things to get the cam.
Uninstall Adobe Flash player.
Shutdown your computer, let sit for 1 minute. Then turn it back on.
Download the latest version of Adobe flash player, it will tell you whether you need version 10 or 9 and will do that when you say download.
Then try the cam again.
And my computer is running better, had to clear out the temp files...

Question - when you are restarting the cam, are you hitting the arrow in the middle of the screen or one of the buttons at the bottom?

I'm reading your questions and comments about restarting the cam, too, Paula. I think I am doing it right, but it took some experimenting. What does it mean when the green barber pole thing comes on?

Picture seems smaller. Someone said this new set-up is to save bandwidth?
I do know about bandwidth problems. You hear about that when you work in a public school and lots of students are using computers at the same time. We have to stagger the times they log on.
You have to refresh after 15 minutes...they are trying to conserve bandwidth. Many comments to read about it.
I am getting a live feed as far as I can tell. Just have to restart it every once in awhile.
Yes, I can now. When I first turned on 'puter, I had a frozen screen and after refreshing, I lost everything. OK now.
Yup, pic is smaller. Zoom is different. Read the comments about that too, it's different for everyone, depends upon your browser.
Reminds me of Lynn with her computer...if she uses it too much she get cut off (or something like that).

Hidey looks as if he had a pedicure and nail polish. Never noticed his nails like that before.
I spent some time reading all the comments about the new set-up. It will take some adjusting. Really miss the larger picture. My eyes are 67 years old.
Poor Hidey! Those bugs are so annoying! I wonder if when perched on a limb away from the nest they are bugged by bugs?

I expect the nest attracts bugs, considering all the "stuff" they have brought in there.
Stronghunter - My eyes are 70 yrs old sooooooo My mouse has a scroll wheel in the center of it! Any chance yours does?
If you hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and SCROLL the wheel on the mouse - It increases the entire size of the cam pic.
The Zoom in will increase the size of a certain area when you place your cursor.
Yes, I just right-clicked and clicked on zoom. Same choices as before.
Trying to save Bandwidth. I guess we have soooo many viewers that it has to be done this way to accomodate everyone???
I can make the picture larger by clicking on the % sign at the lower right corner of my screen or by pressing CTRL while rolling the roller that is in the midddle of the mouse.
Yes, I see the picture is larger when I zoomed on Hidey.
I have the % sign, too, at the lower right side of my screen. I will experiment with it. I have used it before, but quality is not as good when you increase the percentage.
Wanda, you're the 2nd person to mention Hidey's pedicure----I haven't seen what you all are talking about, but keep imagining pink talon polish!!

Carol, if you uninstall shockwave, make sure you re-install it after you do flashplayer....some things need it in order to view. Don't need to uninstall your Adobe Reader....that's something seperate. Bye!

wELL, Hidey is perched at about 10 o'clock and can be seen clearly tonight...still has that buggy issue.
And either a younger spidey or his prey is running all over the camera lens at the moment.
Does the live feed frame look smaller to you now?? Or is it just the other material surrounding it making it "look" smaller??

I keep seeing mention of "Pete's Pond". If I may ask, is this another webcam site that is open to the public?
How far would she have to fly to the river?
I don't know if she did or not. I don't know if someone actually saw her land with it but it was stuck on her talons at one point, from what I have read on the blog. But I haven't read the whole thing. If I start doing that, I will be sitting here working all day!! But, that is what I gather, anyway.

Tammy, I can't do the blue link like every one else, but there is the web site. You can copy and paste it. Yeah, it is a camera in Botswana, Africa. Very cool. You can see all different kinds of animals during the day and night. I really love it!!

The river is right over the hill from the nest, not far at all "as the eagle flies".

Right, exactly. The awesomeness of the whole process with these eagles just amazes me. Who would have ever thought we could have a front row seat to such a wonderful process as watching an eaglet hatch and grow and become self sufficient. Used to be only something people would dream of!!

I remember when Hidey fledged and I thought I'd never see her again. I'm so happy s/he's hanging around.
I think this is normal. I know that it was like this before and then one day they just didn't come back. Sharon had to tell me to surrender that, cause I kept watching for them. I don't know where they go after that, find a new home and start making way for having their own families I reckon.
