I find that Firefox blocks some things, so I use Internet Explorer to come to this site.
I have to use Firefox to get to others; somehow Internet Explorer blocks pop-ups so I can't see the e-mail at my work from home, so I use both and pick and choose according to what works.
Thanks Deb. My computer went right to that site. Appreciate all links that you all put on here. I try to add them to my favorites list every time I see one.
Yes, Stronghunter, it is a pretty site. I am going to have to make notes of everyone's names on here. I just can't keep up with everyone. My memory is shot, even when I am not on any medication. Ha, ha!!!
If you are a retired kindergarten teacher, that probably exlpains a shot memory. You have to use it all up on the job. I teach teenagers, and I have memorized so many names over the years that the memory bank is full.
Not 100% sure, Bibee, but seems to me the looduskalendar site is storks! I would have to search my favs to see....give me a few. Deb's link didn't work the first time I tried it, but did the 2nd time!
Yeah, Stronghunter, I did use a lot of memory with those kg babies. You know, I never did have problems learning their names each year. After day one, I had them all down. Isn't that funny how good your memory can be at certain things and lousy at other things. Sounds like I hear Hidey somewhere nearby. Do you like teaching older kids?
Jo, that feline friend is my baby, Tabby. She is so precious. At age 42, I got my first cat. Now, I have 4 cats in the house and 2 cats outside that visit me from the neighbor's house. Gotta love them all! I also have a doggie inside and a doggie outside. The doggie outside was left when someone moved away. I started feeding him and then I brought him home. People came back to get him and I told him that I would just keep him. They said they were going to come and feed him daily but I ended up doing that so he is mine now! I will eventually put all their pictures on here.
My hubby saw a bear the other day here in southern WV. It just walked across the road in front of him. I had one stand up on the side of the truck at my window in the Smokey Mts. Scared me to death when it done that.
Jo, thanks for the link to the Finney Land Site. It's the one I had found. When I was just reading your comments, I would Google the sites you mentioned, and that was the one I got.
My grandson likes me to show him the sites I find. He's eight.
I am very glad you both have joined us and especially coming in with your comments on this blog. It does get interesting when we all start talking.
I hear something by the cam. This is about the time of early evening that an adult will fly in with an evening snack. Guess we will play the waiting game..
I am waiting on my son, gs and ggd to come in the door! I'll be here until they arrive.
Bibee, I've told about it here before...but before you joined us...I've had a bear in my "backyard" (woods) twice in the past 4 yrs. First time helping himself to corn out of the feeder after knocking down my decoy deer; 2nd time just passing through. Same w/ foxes and a coyote. Of course, deer and turkey are frequent visitors.
You new gals must think we do nothing but blog and cam watch! LOL! Those of us who are retired have learned to work around all of this wonderful comaraderie!!! Many who still work are fortunate enough to be able to do it at work! And those who can't check in when they get home. We are all so lucky to have found each other and we have so much fun---on here AND many in person! And our prayers are AWESOME, if anyone needs them.
Last winter, we had 5 deer that would come down out of the mountains, all in a line, every evening to eat. Of course, we fed them deer corn. They even wore a path out to the feeder. We loved watching them eat. So pretty! We have also had a couple of fawns visit the food too.
I'm enjoying my visits with you all. I had first made a contact with Steve when he asked if there were teachers who were showing the site to their students. I e-mailed hmi. I have been letting some students see the nest from time to time. They wonder what they are hearing when the wind blows on the mike, so I show them. Once, Hidey went nuts with his / her screaming when I was talking to a student, and I told him what was going on..
Teenagers can be funny.
When I showed one class the site, someone said, "What does that have to do with English?" So I got sneaky, and let them take a peek when they asked about it. That way, it was their idea. The fun part about teaching English is that you can connect almost anything to it.
I am sure I can connect birdwatching to English, though. Then it will be my idea. Nothing wrong with that
You know, I have had a hard time with depression since this illness hit me and no one can help me. I keep telling everyone that I would rather be well and able to teach but WVU said live with the pain. And it causes severe depression. You all have really helped me out on here. I love catching up on the comments and seeing what everyone else is doing. Does that make me NOSEY, too? You all are just great. And I have enjoyed watching Hidey so much & Liberty & Belle. And the other cams. That's all I talk about when people ask me what I have been doing!!
I found that in all my years of teaching that if there is something you want to show or tell the kids, do it. There is always a way to connect that to any kind of learning. Man, do I miss teaching! Those kg kids were just little precious babies. I loved all of them, even if I was nicknamed CONDOR!
I have a turtle shell. One of my students brought it to me because she knew that I collect turtles. I have tons of turtle things in my house. There's a group that Winston Churchill was a member of called Turtles. I was initiated into it. Something we used to do when we line danced at the Moose. Several of us became turtles. I even have a turtle membership card. Silly things that people do!
Bibee, I can certainly sympathize with you. Even tho' I wasn't really depressed, I was at loose ends and lonely....my guy started a 3rd business adventure in Mar. '08 and was/is just SO busy that he didn't/doesn't have much time for me....and after working forever, even tho' other interests kept me occupied, I was in need of something NEW when I came across the cam site. Watched for almost a month before I joined the blog...and that's all she wrote. My kids think I'm crazy, but I think they are glad that I found so many new friends. I am a 4 yr.+ (so far!!!!) survivor of lung cancer, so while I think I'm fine, I am limited in what I can do: physically by emphysema, and technically by fact that I can't work AT ALL due to disability retirement and Soc. Sec. monies. Sorry for running on!
When people think others should Get A Life - I just laugh if they are referring to me and my eagles and my eagle buddies! I am retired and I have such a fun loving and the most understanding group of friends that I just don't know what I would ever do without them. They have made my spirits soar right up into the thermals! (That is eagle talk - lol)
Hedgie & Stronghunter, it is just terrible to be sick and I have no help except meds. I get so tired of taking medicine. One causes excessive weight gain - BINGO. I had gastric bypass surgery and I have gained at least 50 pounds since being put on that med., but what do you do? So glad that you two are cancer survivors. I donate to the Susan G. Komen fund. My grandpa had lung cancer. My father in law had cancer in kidney, had a kidney removed. My mother in law had cancer in thyroid.
The first time I saw a spider, it was one of the long-legged ones. Really creepy. I think the one that builds the fancy web and hangs there might be a different one, but maybe that is just because it was not so close to the lens hanging on the web.
I am glad I am not the only one who forgets names. I remember when I first started I had a cheat sheet. As soon as I figured out who someone was and where they were from, I wrote it down. With all the new members, I should be doing it again.
My mother was Catherine with a "C"...but funny, I found her birth certificate and it was spelled with a "K"...the things I am learning going through all the papers...(my Mom passed away in January)
Congrats on being a survivor, too, Shirley!! For all you momsters/dadsters.....my cheat sheet tells me that we have had 102 new commenters since the first of May!! Can you believe it? Of course, not very many have stuck around or even come back a second time....ruh roh! Their loss!!
Katherine, you need to hook up with Sissy and Sharon! And Shirley, you are NOT that far away. We do expect to see both of you for Open House 17 Oct.!!!
I almost forgot to mention- full moon, although technically not until June 7th, is 100% full now - check it out if you get a chance, it's gorgeous. It's the strawberry moon :)
Yeah, I am going to try my best to come to Open House. I do have the numbers for the places to stay. My phone has been out of order for 3 days. I guess from all of the storms. I usually always have to tell people that it is Katherine with a K. It's funny how you can spell one name so many different ways. Paula, so sorry about your mom. My mom was only 59 when she passed away. She had a stoke that hit the stem of her brain. She was my best friend. I do know that she watches me daily but I miss her so much.
I keep hearing something at the nest. Guess one of them is nearby. I need help again. Does anyone have the link to Pete's Pond? I hear you all talking about it some but I didn't know where to look. Thanks again!
I saw the Strawberry Moon...looks good enough to Eat! Snuck in on us didn't it?
xo Hi Evening Eagle People... ☺ Katherine with a K... just like my next older sister who went on up to heaven at the age of 60... We miss our special people all the time dont we. xoxo
Yeah, Paula, she was so young. She started having mini strokes and we tried to get her to go to sleep one night. She kept saying, "I'm not going to sleep because I won't wake up." Talked to the dr. He said that wasn't true. Bingo! She went to sleep and went into a coma around 1am. She turned loose of my dad's hand at that time. He kept asking if the sleeping pill would make her like that and the nurses kept telling him yes. My mom knew that she was not going to ever wake up again.
52 weeks ago was my first nest visit...started my first cheat sheet then...like Deb, I need to start another one! ☺ It was the beginning of this Great Friendship Adventure!
Saw cedar waxwings tonight and finally, a towhee, perched and singing non-stop. Had to get out in the wild after work.
Hope everyone is doing well, hope to find out for myself after washing off Parfum du Bug Repellent.
Finney land nest looking good here. Bird looks a little soggy.
Thanks Paula. I appreciate the link. I am sorry if I aggravate you all for links. One day I will get them all saved on here. I don't think anyone is going to come home in our nest tonight.
That strawberry moon is beautiful....behind all the leaves!! Hi, Margy--your day sounded busy!! No wonder yo wanted to get out and commune with the natural world!
Good Evening ladies... Busy today with washing clothes, putting in a new outside faucet, mowing grass (Dusten took over that chore...YAY!!), ordering costumes. Yep, it's that time...way past time.
I, too, hear something at the nest. Katherine, we are happy that you find a distraction from your ills, by chatting with us. We are here for you:)
I have been keeping a cheat sheet on our new friends and right now, we have 20 newbies who are fairly regulars now:):) WELCOME TO ALL OF THEM.
I definitely have got to get a cheat sheet. I hope to get started on it soon. Any Nascar fans out there? Tony Stewart was on the pole for tomorrow but he wrecked during practice now he has to go to the end. That puts Jeff Gordon on the pole. YEAH! I've been to about 18 NASCAR races. Loads of fun there!
Kat, I AM!!!! But Jr. is my man...mainly because of his dad, may he RIP. Our division of GM was his sponsor--Goodwrench was the catchphrase for Service and Parts Operations--and he was at our plant here in Martinsburg several times; Jr. was with him the last time in '98. Never been to a race, tho' both of my girls have!
BIBEE, I liked NASCAR very much when DE #3 was living, but can't seem to get excited about it now, although I do watch it with my hubby. I think Lynn is a fan too.
Well, gotta admit that I'm certainly not as avid a fan as I was before '01. And I think the COT has ruined the sport as it was....And I HATE that Kyle Busch with a passion!!!!
Just came back downstairs and read all the new messages. No, Hedgie, I am not that far away. I have been thinking about it. Like some others, I might have to make the trip alone. But maybe not, I have a couple of daughters who like to go on adventures with me. They have checked out the nest from time to time.
Suzi lives in Reston and was a volunteer at the National Zoo for awhile. She is an animal lover. Kathryn is the mother of my grandson (and an animal lover). The four of us have done such things as take off to New York City just so the grandson could see the Statue of Liberty. That was much further than Sheperdstown, VW.
I had noticed that, Hedgie. I told Suzi that one of the people on the blog is a zoo volunteer. She loved doing that, but she's now working full time and going to college. She loves the pandas and elephants.
Sure have missed talking and carrying on with you folks these last few days...think I have to backtrack to Wednesday sometime to catch up, best to just go backwards probably. Wanda... I do have a bit of a Sleep problem...now, if we didn't have this here Eagle Nest and this here Blog...well, I might actually get a little more sleep, but what fun would THAT BE ????
Heading back to the start of today's new thread, don't want to wait too long to Express my gratitude as an American, for the sacrifices made by so many on this day in 1944 ...
Hedgie- I agree with you about the COT. It sure did ruin the racing. It is not as exciting any more. We always went to Charlotte-Lowes Motor Speedway. Also went to Martinsville. Last time I ordered tickets for Lowes, they were $130.00 each. Rooms are over $100.00 a night, plus our food. Too much! I am definitely one of those financially embarrassed people! I also agree about Kyle Busch. I think he is a smart alec. I have always liked Dale Jr. Wasn't much of a Dale Sr. fan but I sure didn't want to see him die. That was so sad, so sad. We like the love taps and wrecks but we don't want anyone hurt.
Car of Tomorrow, Shirley. It has ruined the competition of rqacing....all cars are exactly alike, except for their paint jobs! I agree, Kat...outrageous costs! You should have been in our plant the day after the tragedy.....the tears and the sadness was overwehelming...we were all in shock.
Need to ask you all to please add my friend John to your prayers. He is a former co-worker who has developed a serious lung condition and is in ICU. They put him on a ventilator so that he and his lungs can get some rest. Great improvement in 24 hrs., per his wife Kathy. And it will be even better faster after you all hear this! Thanks.
Good Night Eagle Momsters! I have so enjoyed chatting with you all today. You made my Saturday a much better day. Have a bd party tomorrow at 2pm in Cool Ridge, WV. - About 45 mins from my house. Will definitely be on here when I get back home. Sweet Dreams! Love, Katherine
Ah, story of my life. I get on when everyone is going to bed! Oh, well....have been reading the blog and just caught up. A lot of newbies on....I am going to have to start a cheat sheet.
Our party was great...16 old folks. LOL No, it really was fun, all went very well. And, the best part......drum roll please.....I ate a real hamburger with cheese and bacon!!!!! First time since January!!! It was delicious, but I could not eat it all. Yea, for me!
Margy, I just learned that yesterday about the D-Day Memorial being in Bedford. Wonder if Thelma has been there? And Sissy and Sharon? Cool! Congratulations, Lolly....I'm sure it was yummy to you, but see how much your tummy shrank? You go girl! Well, restful sleep to all. Prayers and peace. Thanks for a good day!
Good Morning America, Home of the Bald Eagle!☺ Got home about 10 PM after 13 hrs. of 2 flights.Plane from Athens landed in Atlanta where I got to see the horse race! Then 1 1/2 flight to DC. Nice to see other places, but is GREAT to be home!!! Read just a little of today's comments & Full Moon was mentioned. I got it---check my blogspot!
Hi, everyone, I've been trying to catch up on the blog for a while now-- boy, we are a talkative bunch, but that's what's so much fun! I've been extremely busy today, with lots of homework and a puppy to babysit. Hubby has been a BIG help in that department today, so I could get lots of work done. I don't see our Hidey in the nest, but can hear her near or on the camera. Don't see Spidey tonight. He gives me the creeps, but hope he didn't get washed away by all the rain! When Hidey and the others have flown the coop, maybe we can have a Spidey cam! That's the best way to see a spider-- from a long distance. Eeewww! By the way, prayers are being said for everyone-- for healing, for blessed sleep, for thanksgiving, and for continued blessings for all. Gonna go try to get to sleep. Hope the pup doesn't wake up real soon! Talk to you guys later. :o]
WELCOM HOME, LORETTA! Can't wait to see your photos, and hear some of your stories. The photo of the MOON just beyond the plane's wing, is super! FOR OUR NEW FRIENDS; Loretta has been in Greece for the past week or so, and has some photos on her blog. Click on her name or avatar to see them.
I caught Hidey making a landing first and soon afterwards a parent landed with food. Hidey seems to be aggresive with her parent and wants the ENTIRE meal. I am a new kid on the block -- do baby eaglets go through this aggresive stage with their parents?
Hidey is my first eaglet, too, so I am also wondering if they are all so aggressive with their parents. It would be something to contend with if there were 2 or 3 eaglets, woldn't it?
Thanks Stronghunter .... You have a great pic too :) Hidey is such a treat to watch and is so very addicting! She does have great parents who are totally patient with her.
Hidey chases the parents out of the nest. I think he / she might be more vocal than some others--at least from what I have read on here, but I am not sure. Hidey does put on a show for us, though.
Thanks for the compliment on the picture. It's George checking out the flowers I was getting ready to plant. Yours looks so peaceful. That is in your yard?
Yes, all eaglets are aggressive...they need to survive.
We have seen Lib drop off a fish for 3 eaglets last year...he stays just long enough to fly off again! They the 3 would peep at each other to stay away from their fish!
George is a cutie!! We have 2 dogs with one getting over two back disc surgeries in only 3 months. She is just starting to walk again. Yes, the pic is our yard which is our peaceful retreat. We love the sound of moving water and to watch the fish frolick by the waterfall and the birds taking their baths on the shallow end. Time to go out and feed our little friends. Catch ya later :)
What is really amazing is to watch a parent try to feed a day old chick...there head is so wobbly, as their neck muscles aren't very strong yet. They offer and offer and offer the food until the chick gets it. Many times you see them picking up the same piece and offering it again because the chick has dropped it and doesn't know to look down for the food that dropped. That is some real patience.
We have certainly learned a lot about the dedication the adults have to raising their young.
Old World, if you click on my name and go the Eaglet momster blog, I have youtube videos on their from this season. You can also go to youtube and search for paulaeagletmomster for videos from past seasons...watch them later in the off season.
I know I would not want to contend with that beak.
I had an interesting experience with a pelican once. We were in San Francisco, and I had a camera. The pelican obviously thought it was food and tried to scare me into dropping it. It even put its beak around my arm up to my elbow. If it had been an eagle, it might have gotten the camera.

Well good morning. Hidey is in her glory...food while biting the beak that feeds her....lol. I have never seen such patient parents..bless their hearts. What an imp our hidey is....
Could have gotten a picture of the inside of the pelican's mouth. It kept jumping around and squalking at me. It was obvious that it was used to scaring tourists into dropping food.
Well Howdy there Norma ! First time I have been on same time as you in DAYS ! * Good Morning Everyone past, present and to come * Yep, this it the Day that the Lord has Made...Fresh out of Heaven !
By the way, NormaByrd, I LOVE listening to Michael Feldman on Saturday mornings! And Car Talk this morning! If I need a good belly laugh, that's the way to go ! ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺
MORNIN' PAULA!---LOVE your avatar!----OUR 'BABY' has been throwing THESE TANTRUM FITS---more frequently!!!---Yesterday--SHE started that blood-curdling SCREAMING---TENTED THE FOOD & LITERALLY PUSHED BOTH PARENTS OUT OF THE NEST--all at the same time!!----(then the little IMP didn't eat the food)!---NO MANNERS!
BWO website thinks maybe the third hatch did occur...there is a note on the page....
Shirley - it was at one of those places that tries to sell property...you know, they show you all around and then when you tell them thanks but no thanks, you feel unwelcome. It was beautiful! Was about 10 years ago...
Good Morning everyone. Spent part of yesterday at Lake Wateree. We have 3-4 birdnests up in our boathouse and spent part of the day rescuing baby birds from the water. My son would scoop them up and used a broom to put them back into their nest. Little black birds of some kind, need to take my bird book down there. Also have a muscrat(sp) living under the dock, and he insists on chopping down our weeping willow trees! Enjoyed seeing Hidey a few minutes ago and looking at pictures of Old World Charm's yard. We have a garden tour of five homes in Lancaster today. One of them features their prize winning Koi Fish. Talk to you all later. Love, Gwen Got to get ready for church.
Speaking of muskrats, Gwen, if you click on my name and then head down the page to Feathers, Fur and Miscellaneous, I got some muskrat pics on there ! Tail is as long as the critter !
Another feeding and it looks like the third egg might have hatched. For some reason, the chicks are very hard to see this year, but we'll try to get confirmation on the third.
It has to be an interesting process--the maturing of an eagle, so that they can learn to share food with their own young. Such a difference between the young Hidey and the parents.
MORNIN' GWEN!---You must have had a wonderful day yesterday with the birds--& the muskrat?---Bet MARGIE is right--sounds like a BEAVER!---(they are cuter) ho!--

I find that Firefox blocks some things, so I use Internet Explorer to come to this site.
I have to use Firefox to get to others; somehow Internet Explorer blocks pop-ups so I can't see the e-mail at my work from home, so I use both and pick and choose according to what works.
See if you can open that, Bibee. Then you click on the osprey picture to get the nest.
CALVIN---just couldn't do it!!--- well---KENTUCKY DERBY & PREAKNESS isn't bad---So wanted him to win!!
Thanks Deb. My computer went right to that site. Appreciate all links that you all put on here. I try to add them to my favorites list every time I see one.
Glad you found it Bibee. It is a pretty scene isn't it?
Yes, Stronghunter, it is a pretty site. I am going to have to make notes of everyone's names on here. I just can't keep up with everyone. My memory is shot, even when I am not on any medication. Ha, ha!!!

HEDGIE---I don't know about the racing in Charles Town---haven't been there this year---
Bibee and stronghunter, if you keep going back to my older blog posts, there are a couple more captures from Finland water nest.
I really do appreciate the link. I kept wondering where the boats were. Could see plenty of trees, no boats.
Not 100% sure, Bibee, but seems to me the looduskalendar site is storks! I would have to search my favs to see....give me a few. Deb's link didn't work the first time I tried it, but did the 2nd time!
A question. I see that Beakspeak rates us #1. How does that rating get decided?
Nope, Bibee, you're right....looduskalendar IS Finland osprey and eagles, but it's their blog site. Lots of good pics, tho'!
Hello Again! I have returned from Mass & have eaten grilled hottie dogs!
First Off! I am disappointed also Norma. I so wanted Calvin to be a 3 times winner! So we got a Summer Bird!
I see George on Stonghunter's avatar. so Bibee what is the name of your precious feline friend on your avatar?
Yeah, Stronghunter, I did use a lot of memory with those kg babies. You know, I never did have problems learning their names each year. After day one, I had them all down. Isn't that funny how good your memory can be at certain things and lousy at other things. Sounds like I hear Hidey somewhere nearby. Do you like teaching older kids?
If you enter our cam through beakspeak site, it counts every hit!
Your right, Hedgie. I was just about to tell them that looduskalender.ee is the Index page to all the forums for the storks and osprey.
Remember that the Finney water site is frozen and has been since May 29th.
Here is the Finney LAND site link

Snowman Cam with Big Black Bear
I do. I have taught the little ones in church and Bible school classes. They are a lot of fun. They get a little jaded as they get older, sometimes.
Yep, it's George checking out the flowers I was getting ready to plant.
Jo, that feline friend is my baby, Tabby. She is so precious. At age 42, I got my first cat. Now, I have 4 cats in the house and 2 cats outside that visit me from the neighbor's house. That snowman cam is interesting. You all surely know your way around the cams.
My hubby saw a bear the other day here in southern WV. It just walked across the road in front of him. I had one stand up on the side of the truck at my window in the Smokey Mts. Scared me to death when it done that.
I would be scared, too. Don't see bears around here. There were deer before they built houses behind me.
Jo, thanks for the link to the Finney Land Site. It's the one I had found. When I was just reading your comments, I would Google the sites you mentioned, and that was the one I got.
My grandson likes me to show him the sites I find. He's eight.

The snowman cam on the left is live - so yes I think he left.
The cam on the right is the still cam and you can click and refresh it.
Yepper da bear is all gone.
Bibee, I've told about it here before...but before you joined us...I've had a bear in my "backyard" (woods) twice in the past 4 yrs. Jo, do you see the TURTLE SHELL in the center of the nest??
With all that noise up by the cam I hope we have a visitor soon....
Hopefully before my visitors come in the side door.
Finding good friends is the best way to deal with depression.
I found that in all my years of teaching that if there is something you want to show or tell the kids, do it. There is always a way to connect that to any kind of learning. Man, do I miss teaching! Those kg kids were just little precious babies. I loved all of them, even if I was nicknamed CONDOR!

Yes I sure do - it is right side up for a change. They are usually upside down. Do you think I'll ever get a turtle shell from there?
I've been called "Lady Macbeth." That's not too good, really. I can assure you, I'm not like her at all!
I'll be back in a few. I keep hearing sounds around the nest, too.
I was surprised when I saw that the eagles eat turtles, but then they are powerful birds.
I'm a breast cancer survivor...since 1995.
Are you all still hearing something around the nest? I really have not heard anything.
When people think others should
Get A Life - I just laugh if they are referring to me and my eagles and my eagle buddies!
I hear some movement every now and then up at the cam. Night light is or should be soon coming on.
Company is here so I will be off till much later.
BBL
I have put off retiremnet for awhile. Took 14 years off when my children were young, so now I am making up for that time, but that's okay.
This is my life! I love it, Jo. I agree. I have gotten so much help from this site. I wish I could meet everyone!
I het "refresh." Now I hear something.
Sounds like Hidey near the cam...noise and a peep!
Evening, all!
I keep hearing something at the cam. Don't know if it is Hidey or not, yep, I just heard her. It must be. She must be hungry.
Be back in a bit. Hey Paula! Glad to see you here. I need something to drink, coke that is.
Hello, Paula.
--Shirley
Spiderweb in the lower right?
Welcome home, Paula! Did you get a lot done today?
Nice to know your name, Shirley!
Looks like it is Spidey's web.
Hey Shirley, Bibee and Deb!
Yup, got a few things done. We all are finally going to go through the house next Sunday and pick out what we want. Then we'll have a cookout.
Yes, it goes diagonally across the screen. I guess Spidey is getting started.
And Bibee, I don't recall your name!
The first time I saw a spider, it was one of the long-legged ones. Really creepy. I think the one that builds the fancy web and hangs there might be a different one, but maybe that is just because it was not so close to the lens hanging on the web.
Getting dark now.
Hey Paula, I'm Katherine.
I am glad I am not the only one who forgets names. I remember when I first started I had a cheat sheet. As soon as I figured out who someone was and where they were from, I wrote it down. With all the new members, I should be doing it again.
Hello, Katherine.
Hi Katherine!
My mother was Catherine with a "C"...but funny, I found her birth certificate and it was spelled with a "K"...the things I am learning going through all the papers...(my Mom passed away in January)
My older daughter is Kathryn. People with that name always have to provide the spelling. There are so many ways to spell it.
Wow Hedgie, I haven't kept track. I do know we have a lot of new momsters!
Interesting comments today...lady in VA hopefully visiting the nest, and the lady from England who also saw Hidey fledge!
Sorry I missed the Belmont!
Good grief, so many new names, I'm terrible with names, so bear with me, but glad to have you all here:)
Wow Katherine, that was fairly young. Must have been a real shock.
☺
Katherine with a K... just like my next older sister who went on up to heaven at the age of 60...
Bird looks a little soggy.
xo
Speaking of cats, I watched a pretty little one perched on a branch over Back Creek this evening. ☺
Here it is, Katherine
Pete's Pond
I have been keeping a cheat sheet on our new friends and right now, we have 20 newbies who are fairly regulars now:):)
WELCOME TO ALL OF THEM.
Me, too, Margy...a whole year that we have all been best buds! So glad to have you and all the others in my life!
Wanda, did you hear from Kimm???
LYNN, I haven't heard from Kimm yet. She may be sleuthing somewhere;)
My Bill is a Jeffy fan...you can imagine some of our good-natured arguments!!
Margy, you didn't get enough sleep last night...go to bed a little earlier tonight.
I do have a WV NASCAR #3 license plate!
And a fortunes-worth of Dale, Sr. memorabilia.
Gene doesn't like him very well either.
Wanda, I told Kimm I'd go to work for her!!!
No problem Bibee.
Ah, forgot Kimm was in the area!
#3 was a very exciting driver...never a dull moment when he was racing!
GO FOR IT LYNN!
Hi,
Just came back downstairs and read all the new messages.
Can't say I have followed NASCAR much, but I have connections to Huntersville, N.C., which is big with NASCAR.
Shirley, Mits is a volunteer at the zoo. She mans the panda cam, and also is a guide on the Asian Trail! Small world, isn't it?
I had noticed that, Hedgie. I told Suzi that one of the people on the blog is a zoo volunteer. She loved doing that, but she's now working full time and going to college. She loves the pandas and elephants.
I'll tell Suzi that Mits mans the Panda cam. I do check that cam occasionally.
What is COT?
Turning in for tonight...catch ya'll tomorrow!
Hugs to all ♥
Goodnight, Paula.
Thanks.
Will keep him in mind, Hedgie.
Night, Paula!
I'm going to head for the tub. Will check back before bed, but goodnight to all who may be gone when I get back.
I'll have to find a way to drop "COT" into a conversation and see what happens.
Ooops, I almost forgot! Good night Hidey, Liberty, and Belle. (the beautiful eagles that brought me to this wonderful site)
Good night again Momsters!
Good night Katherine.
Good night everyone, had a nice time today at hubby's 40th reunion at Mount St. Mary's university, in Emmitsburg, Maryland
I watched John Denver on Public TV, sure do miss his music, it was fun to watch the special tonight.
I am off to bed, night everyone!
Good Night from this Roost too, to all.
Prayers for your friend, John, Lynn
Eagle scritching noises near the cam...Hidey I suppose.
Okay, Meteors to get up and watch, huh? Time to set the alarm clock, fill the coffee pot, and hit the sack!
God Bless Us, Every One. xo
I had said that I would be back later - but this is much later then I thought!
Good Night All
Prayers for all needs being said
((hugs)) ♥
Hey - while I am thinking of it, the National D-Day Memorial is in Bedford, Va, home of our Great T-Bird and Buddy ! ♥
I have been there, it is absolutely spectacular.
Good Night Bibee and sweet dreams for you too:)
I think I can sleep now, so I will say:
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
Good night, everyone. Sweet dreams. I can't keep my eyes open any longer.
Shirley
Whoops, while I was saying goodnight to Katherine, 5 more comments were made and s others going to bed. Didn't mean to leave anyone out.
Okay, I will say good night, too.
Sweet dreams everyone!!
Good Morning America, Home of the Bald Eagle!☺
Got home about 10 PM after 13 hrs. of 2 flights.Plane from Athens landed in Atlanta where I got to see the horse race! Then 1 1/2 flight to DC.
Nice to see other places, but is GREAT to be home!!!
Read just a little of today's comments & Full Moon was mentioned. I got it---check my blogspot!
** Good Night **
** Good Sunday **
** To You All **

P.S. I do not see Hidey in the nest tonight.

I think our little squeaky pal is trying to figure out how to start his day...
Hidey is a'squealin' and moving around sounds like he is taking off a little and coming back but hasn't shown himself yet
Welcome Home NatureNut ! ♥ ☺
Unbelievable Moon Shot from the plane, Loretta !
Skies not clear enough for meteor views this morning :(
but I did see the Moon, Jupiter, Venus and Mars ☺
Hope Market Day is Good today, Megan ☺
Show Time - first the parent then the Eaglet now just the eaglet....
I do believe the parent brought in food !
I hear squirrels and Red-Bellieds
Baby snuck out, I'm going to do the same.
Best Wishes for a Great Day, Eagle Pals...
Heading back to the pillows for a little bit...
xo ♥
WELCOM HOME, LORETTA!
Can't wait to see your photos, and hear some of your stories. The photo of the MOON just beyond the plane's wing, is super!
FOR OUR NEW FRIENDS; Loretta has been in Greece for the past week or so, and has some photos on her blog. Click on her name or avatar to see them.
Have a blessed Sunday:)
SORRY...Loretta is NATURENUT.
MY! MY!---'BABY' IS HAVING ANOTHER TANTRUM!!
So Hidey must have just shown up. Was the food already there or did the parents make a delivery?
I caught Hidey making a landing first and soon afterwards a parent landed with food. Hidey seems to be aggresive with her parent and wants the ENTIRE meal. I am a new kid on the block -- do baby eaglets go through this aggresive stage with their parents?
Do all eaglets have tantrums, or is Hidey a little more spoiled or something?
Lovely picture, Charm.
Hidey is my first eaglet, too, so I am also wondering if they are all so aggressive with their parents. It would be something to contend with if there were 2 or 3 eaglets, woldn't it?
The parents are very calm.
Morning, OLD World.
Yes, all eaglets are aggressive...they need to survive.
We have seen Lib drop off a fish for 3 eaglets last year...he stays just long enough to fly off again! They the 3 would peep at each other to stay away from their fish!
Sure is nice to see Hidey this morning...he's munching on something now.
Young eagles will often try to steal food from an adult in the wild.
They will also chase an osprey with a fish, hoping the osprey will drop it.
Even though Hidey is an only child, I think he / she has enough aggressiveness to survive.
Thanks Paula. I have much to learn :)
LOL look at Hidey twisting his head around and checking out the flies on the tree branch.
Cleaning beak now on branches.
Old World, if you click on my name and go the Eaglet momster blog, I have youtube videos on their from this season. You can also go to youtube and search for paulaeagletmomster for videos from past seasons...watch them later in the off season.
A quick look around and Hidey departs. His flying skills are really improved in one week!
Nice new Avatar, Paula...☺
I know I would not want to contend with that beak.
I had an interesting experience with a pelican once. We were in San Francisco, and I had a camera. The pelican obviously thought it was food and tried to scare me into dropping it. It even put its beak around my arm up to my elbow. If it had been an eagle, it might have gotten the camera.
That is SOME experience Shirley!
Definitely sounds like a Kokak Moment!
Sure enjoyed reading everyone's comments from yesterday...we have some really nice thoughts flowing on here, in addition to all the Education! xoxo
I think it was yesterday before I actually got to see Hidey take off and leave the nest. Looks good to me.
By the way, the FIRST Bald Eagle I ever saw, was in Fredericksburg!
And all the rest, have been at NCTC ☺
My first Osprey was in Morgan County...

Well good morning. Hidey is in her glory...food while biting the beak that feeds her....lol. I have never seen such patient parents..bless their hearts. What an imp our hidey is....
This last take-off is only the SECOND one I have seen with my own eyes!
Could have gotten a picture of the inside of the pelican's mouth. It kept jumping around and squalking at me. It was obvious that it was used to scaring tourists into dropping food.
Parent off the chicks at BWO - wonder if there is a third hatch there yet...sure can't tell from looking at the cam
Magpie, where did you see an eagle in Fredericksburg?
Well Howdy there Norma !
First time I have been on same time as you in DAYS !
* Good Morning Everyone past, present and to come *
Yep, this it the Day that the Lord has Made...Fresh out of Heaven !
By the way, NormaByrd, I LOVE listening to Michael Feldman on Saturday mornings! And Car Talk this morning! If I need a good belly laugh, that's the way to go ! ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺
Two adults at BWO
Oh Shirley, that is too funny.
Daggone it, WAS two adults - but part of an Eagle visible at BWE
Welcome Home, Lowreeda!!
Nice Bird Rescue Family you have there
Parts of two eaglets at BWE now...on the edges of the nest ☺
If you muskrat is chopping down willow trees...could it be a Beaver ?? What does the tail look like? Flat and Broad! Then you got a Beaver !!
MAGPIE---Yesterday MICHAEL FELDMAN was in DEB'S state!---CHAMBERLAIN, SD--DEB had worked a summer in that town!!--love both of those shows!
BWO update
06/07/09:
Chick Alert!
Another feeding and it looks like the third egg might have hatched. For some reason, the chicks are very hard to see this year, but we'll try to get confirmation on the third.
Looks like a feeding happening now.
It has to be an interesting process--the maturing of an eagle, so that they can learn to share food with their own young. Such a difference between the young Hidey and the parents.
Time to make like a Pea and Split...
See you all later. Have Fun !
xoxo ☺ ♥
Momma osprey is blocking the view, but still feeding chicks.
The turtle shell has been flipped over. It was right side up yesterday, but then there has been a lot of action in the nest.
Thanks Magpie, It's definitely a muskrat. Some day I hope to learn how to post pictures. Talk more later. Love, Gwen
Oh, Norma....by the way, my biologist brother spent a winter and spring or two at Wind Cave National Park studying, prairie dogs!
TTFN (ta ta for now, that is )
xo
MORNIN' GWEN!---You must have had a wonderful day yesterday with the birds--& the muskrat?---Bet MARGIE is right--sounds like a BEAVER!---(they are cuter) ho!--
This Blog is about to make like a Pea and Split too !
