Maybe someone out there can answer these questions. . .

What weekend in October is the open house?

Also, what else is going on that weekend? I thought someone said there was some kind of festival or something. I was just talking with my daughter about it.

We are close enough to drive up for the day, but a weekend would be fun, too. We also know people in Luray, VA. Not sure how far from Sheperdstown that is.

magpie said...

Wah - my live cam was not working either just caught a glimpse of bird/s before it bailed...

Thanks Lynn - - I will remember that!

Shirley - you will get some answers to your questions, probably very soon !

xoxox Out the door....☺

hedgie said...

Shirley, it's the 17th. Also Apple Harvest Festival in Martinsburg, and Shepherd University Homecoming in Shepherdstown!

hedgie said...

Luray is about 1 1/2 hrs. away.

stronghunter said...

Thanks for the information, Hedgie. I remember that you all were saying that it's smart to make reservations now if you want to get a room. I mentioned it to Kathryn, and she's interested in joining me. What hotels / motels do you recommend?

Comfort Inn, Shepherdstown

Mema Jo said...

Comfort & Clarion are the 2 that have been used before by Momsters. Martinsburg also not far from Shp'stwn
has motels.
Google so you can see prices.
Some members come in on Friday and leave Sunday am. Open House is 10-4 (free) and we usually do lunch at the NCTC cafe (great food and variety) and then dinner at Clarion. Sunday down town is Farmer's Market/Megan. Lots of small shops-typical college town.

Mema Jo said...

Ho Ho Megan! I finally was 1 step ahead of you gal! Don't believe it!

How are the little mocks?

floralgirl said...

Darn, I'm getting slow- so far they are ok, was just out looking for them. I kept moving one away from the driveway yesterday, now if he sees me coming, he hides:)

Mema Jo said...

Don't let them get away from you - you have spent too much time & concern over them.

deb said...

hi, popping in for a quick visit. My sister is stuck in traffic, so just waiting for her to get here.

Mema Jo said...

Hello There Gal!
Miss you on here. Are both your sisters out there with you?

howdy deb, you might get to be on for awhile :)

My sister from SF is here, we are waiting for my sister from Huntington Beach to get here. She is out of the SIG alert now and making progress.

My Dear Eagleland Friends sorry I haven't been on for awhile. You all know Ed had several doctors appts. plus several different test.

His oxygen level has been raised and now he is on continuous. He has been started on prednisone.

He has more test to go through. We will know Monday what day he is scheduled for one.

Red flags have been put up everywhere with his Pulmonary Doctor.

His CT Scan also showed something his heart doctor which we see today. Has to test him for on June 22nd.

He won't be going to the Wellness Center. His Pulmonary Doctor say no activity "indefinitely".

It all is not good but in my heart I believe it could be worse. I haven't had time yet to cry. God would not leave us now..that we BOTH know.

Please we appreciate your prayers and still need continual prayer if you don't mind.

I just got him some dinner fixed. I will try to get back on later.
Love to you all and prayers for you all that need them.

deb said...

Dana, you and Ed have my prayers for you both and for your doctors to find the right treatment for Ed.

Lori O. said...

That was so cool with Lib and Belle like a quiet moment in the nest, the here comes Hidey flying in, WOOOOSH! And, the parents are outta there. Hidey finished up alone.

wvgal_dana said...

Thank you so so much Deb.

Lori O. said...

Oh Dana - honey, positive thoughts and prayers surround you and Ed tonight. Not knowing is the worst, but God knows and has a plan for you both. I hope you feel the big arms of everyone here giving you hugs and love, strength and courage, grace and prayers.

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey squealing in the nest...parent just arrived...must have brought food...parent leaving.....Hidey pecking at parent's feet...hmmm..maybe no food!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, check out the fish in Hidey's talon!

wvgal_dana said...

Lori I do feel Gods arms around me and Ed. There is a lot we have been told. Just can't type it yet. It is not good.

It is possible the prednisone can make the one thing wrong turn around for him.

Some of the other things need further testing to show had bad and what action they need to take for him.

Thank you for your prayers.

wvgal_dana said...

Need to feed him I'll try to bbl

paula eagleholic said...

Our thoughts are with you and Ed, Dana. No activity is because activity uses up O2.

Hidey is munching happily away!

deb said...

My sister is here and I think we are headed to the hot tub. It will do us all good to soak away some stress.

Lori O. said...

Dana I understand so well, I couldn't talk about my husband at all without crying. Crying isn't always the beginning of a breakdown, sometimes just takes a big load off you.
Please know I'm here if you need a day off, help in the home, someone to talk to...anything. My heart aches for you and your pain. My prayers are with you as are everyone elses. HUG!

hedgie said...

Me, too, Dana...
Deb, what is a SIG alert? I can pull that on my BFF who lives out there!
You probably missed my ? last night or I missed your Answer: did Uncle Bob make it to the services??

hedgie said...

Paula wanted to tell you love your new avatar. I'm fading fast - no nap today. :)
Be back in the morning.

Good night all.

SIG alert - I used to work in LA -
sig alert is what a traffic reporter named Sig used to say when something horrible was happening with traffic...that was in the 60's or 70's...and we still used it when I was there as late as 2002! Talk about a legacy.

Thanks Jo, Hedgie, and Floralgirl. I made a reservation for the 17th at the Clarion. I see what you mean about rooms filling up.

Planning to bring daughter Kathryn and grandson Hunter. Haven't told Suzi yet. I expect she will join uu too.

Looks like I missed all kinds of nest activity while making the reservations. When I came back, Hidey was there. Now there's an adult.

All kinds of activity at Pete's Pond. I have three tabs up.

paula eagleholic said...

Now the nest is MT!!

They left while I was eating dinner!

paula eagleholic said...

Hope Ceil, Jim and MM are having a nice time at the beach with Mits.

Have you taken a look at NBG recently??

All three eaglets and an adult can be seen on the branches out front of the nest.

C(°Ù¿°)D

stronghunter said...

And goodness, no . . . wasn't thinking of hanky panky, though I am sure that happens, too. Lots of monkeys playing. As far as I can tell, it is just innocent play.

Lolly said...

Hi all! Getting dinner ready however we have a severe storm headed right at us. I'll take rain but please no tornado or hail. (There is a tornado on the ground north west of us.)

It is very dark and we hear thunder!

Lolly said...

NBG Norfolk Botanical Garden

Lolly said...

They have an eagle nest with three eaglets at NBG. Great cam!

Lolly said...

Baseball size hail in this storm. Please1 Please! Please!

stronghunter said...

Thanks, Lolly. Hope the storm misses you.

movin said...

I think that Norfolk's No.2 eaglet must have flown to that big branch. Is that far enough to be considered a fledge??

What is the minimum distance? Anyone know?

I just tried to take a look at Pete's Pond, but they are having tech probs and showing reruns now.

C(°Ù¿°)D

Jim

stronghunter said...

I saw the three eagles sitting on the branch at NBG. It's pretty dark.

As far as I can tell, I am getting a live feed from Pete's.

Mema Jo said...

Late this afternoon, Jim, we couldn't see anything but an MT nest at NBG. But we haven't seen anything yet about
the 2nd oldest fledging. Guess I'll go nose around because I know that nest was MT!

Lolly - Here's praying for Jack's and your's safety! Do you have a "closet".

Lolly said...

Yes, we have a "closet". It is starting to rain now. The storm may go to our west and we will then just get the outer edge. Right now just waiting!

Lolly said...

Beautiful pic at OK right now. Eaglet in nest and adult on the bar.

stronghunter said...

It is beautiful, Lolly. It is nice to have the wide view.

Mema Jo said...

I'll check back in a little while
Headed for an hour or so of TV

movin said...

SHunter...it could be only here, but I'm getting a rerun at Pete's.

Start it over, and if it goes to a shot of two Zebras drinking before long, it is a rerun.

I glanced at some of their blog, and it appears the operator was having troubles even emailing, so he shut it down and went to sleep.

It's a great site normally. And because of the time difference it is viewable when everything here shuts down.

C(°Ù¿°)D

Jim

stronghunter said...

Yes, I did see the same zebra scene twice.

stronghunter said...

I didn't look at the blog. Just thought I was seeing it live. Oh well . . .

stronghunter said...

That Oklahoma eaglet is going to have to take a pretty long flight when it fledges--unless there is something to land on pretty near that we can't see.

stronghunter said...

Lolly, are you still there? How's the weather?

Lolly said...

Still here! So far not much...light rain, lots of thunder. We are watching the radar and they are giving reports on TV. Where the storm has passed...electrity out, large hail, and trees down.

stronghunter said...

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Lolly said...

Thanks! Looks like it could be actually going just west of us. Would like to get a good rain out of this!

floralgirl said...

Hope the storm misses you guys, and you just get a nice rain, Lolly.
Dana, keeping you and Ed in my thoughts.((HUGS))
Did too much today in the heat, not feeling well now, gonna call it a night, and make bouquets in the early morning. I couldn't find my mocker babies before bed, hope they are ok. Nite all.

Lolly said...

Nite Megan! Hope you get to feeling better. That heat can take it out of you. It was really yukky here today for the first time. Very hot and very humid. Went to the grocery store and the parking lot was like an oven. Looks like our wonderful spring is over and summer is here.

hedgie said...

Stay safe, Lolly and Jack!!! guess you don't have basements in Texas, huh? I just always hear about closets! Mom and sis both have basements, TG, in MI...and me, too, here....which was really good a few yrs. ago when we had a tornado that touched down about 2 miles away...scary day!
Jim, think Lolly said that Jack estimated the OK nest to be about 100 ft. from a tree onshore. Right, Lolly?

hedgie said...

Oh Meggy, please feel better. It was so close today that I had a bit more trouble breathing than normal. I'm sure you know to stay well-hydrated, but I'll just remind you!! Get a good nights sleep, dear girl.

Lolly said...

Nope, no basement. They just do not build basements here. We hve been known to sit in a closet. Laurel had the boys there a couple nights ago. That is all we can do and pray for the best. Looks like this storm is really going to miss us.

Yes, the OK nest is approx 100 feet to the shore and closest trees. But that is just a "guesstimate". LOL We were looking at it with binoculars.

Lolly said...

Oh, and we looked at the nest through our periscope as well! LOL

Mema Jo said...

Nest news on Saaksi 2009 now has that the 1st egg hatched 6/9
the 2nd egg hatched 6/10

Suzanne usually gets good pics of this nest and emails them out

paula eagleholic said...

Going to make an early night of it too,

Gnite all

Hugs to all ♥

hedgie said...

Yep, we saw the periscope!!!!
FL homes don't have basements, either, Lolly....during the hurricanes, mom stayed in a hallway with bedroom, den and bathroom doors closed around her, so only one open end. It was still very scary for her---three in about 7 wks. in '04. After that, she was finally convinced it was time to leave. She was 86 then, and alone. So she moved to MI where my sis is...and now has to worry about the twisters.

hedgie said...

Night, Paula. Hope you have agood weekend. Sun. dinner sounds yummy!

Nite all! The storm missed us as well as any significant amount of rain. Been on the phone talking to Laurel and falling asleep sitting here. Great day...yard work and then lunch out.

Dana...keeping your hubby and you in my prayers.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that I got home OK from the desert trip. Traffic was heavy but moving well, except one spot on the way home, when a van stalled in the middle lane of the fwy. Once past that it was slower than usual, but OK.
Prayers are going up for Dana & Ed. Dana, just remember to ask the Lord what HE says about the situation-- when the going gets tough, that's the time to say to Him, "Lord, you and I need to talk!" What the Lord says is far more important than what the doctors say. If He gives you a word to cling to, it'll be worth more than anything else! That's what faith is-- it's the Word that God gives to you about a specific situation. You'll know it when you hear it. (The Lord said, "My sheep hear my voice.") He has been known to work through doctors, too. And He gives the kind of peace that surpasses all understanding. Just remember that we're all praying with you both and for you both-- we're all in the same boat together. You are definitely NOT alone in this!!!
Prayers for Lolly and Jack's safety, too! Lord, send your angels to protect them!
Megan, prayers being said for your health-- hope a good night's sleep will speed your recovery.
Lynn, prayers for you, too, and hope you feel perkier in the morning! (I'm right there with you guys when it comes to that yucky heat and humidity combination-- it just knocks the stuffings out of me!)
Deb, prayers for you and your family. Please know that we are all there for you, and care about you more than we can explain in words.
Jim, I'm praying that your computer straightens out, too. If worse comes to worst, maybe we can call an exorcist to get rid of that pesky computer gremlin! (If it's any consolation, I've been known to call my laptop "Hal", when it's really giving me a bad time.)
Well, prayers of thanksgiving that we all have each other, and that we know that we KNOW that the Lord speaks to each and every one of us!
Sleep tight, everyone, and God bless!

Boy oh boy-something going on outside in the yard this morning... Was ready to blame the mockingbirds, but this time it's the cardinals who have been singing up a storm since about 3 am, and of course, then the mockers joined in. Darn noisy birds.

stronghunter said...

Good morning to anyone out there. Just a quick check-in this morning before rushing off to work / graduation. Teachers march with the seniors at our school, so have to grab the gown and hood. Kids and parents are excited. Never have understood just why we do this so early on a Saturday, but maybe because it is cooler.

A few years ago we watched a bald eagle soaring over the ceremony. Beautiful.

stronghunter said...

Enjoy the shuttle launch for me, Hedgie. I will be on the road--or maybe already at my school at launch time.

See you later.

Bozzett said...

Good morning Eagle Buddies. A short check in before the day ahead...see our Hidey in the nest which is a good thing since I have missed seeing the little bugger this week alot due to schedule at work. My prayers for Dana and Ed...along with all the others...and my best to all for a good weekend. Will not be on much as alot of work outside and errands, etc to run. Just saying hi and blessings to all...does not seem like a day can start without checking in on Hidey and this 'family' on the blog.

magpie said...

No Shuttle Launch....?
sounds like a leak in the Hydrogen tank system....

Hedgie...are you watching ?

magpie said...

Hidey is a'peepin' away, but not showing up on the nest...yet

Good Morning everyone

magpie said...

I hear bluebirds too....♪ ♫

magpie said...

No shuttle launch...from the NASA website:

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- NASA postponed space shuttle Endeavour's launch to the International Space Station on Saturday because of a leak associated with the gaseous hydrogen venting system outside the shuttle’s external fuel tank. The system is used to carry excess hydrogen safely away from the launch pad. Managers scrubbed the launch for at least 96 hours.

The earliest the shuttle could be ready to launch is June 17. However, there is a conflict on the Eastern Range that date with the scheduled launch of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter/Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite.

magpie said...

But Hidey sounds good, and I was happy to find wild Butterfly weed along the roadside on the way home ☺
A beautiful, fresh orange color...
I'm hoping the Eaglet will make an appearance....so that I may have Eagle dreams here in a bit.

Hope the Week-end goes well for all, and that Wellness Swells, and Comfort Abides...

hedgie said...

Morning, Margy...yep, shuttle launch a bust....boo hoo.
Well, hope the last few hrs. of your shift settled down. Can't believe that that idiot thought he could outrun the police! Love listening to the chases. And was it juvies they were after in Inwood? Rodeo Dr. fire just rekindled....called out the 167th again, too!

hedgie said...

I'm surprised that there is enough of anything left to rekindle enough for full turnout needed from the way it sounded last night.

hedgie said...

Have to go by there this afternoon on my way to Lowe's so think I'll go into Winfield and take a peek. Those are some pretty big houses.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...

Sounds like Hidey is in the tree calling for breakfast!

paula eagleholic said...

Morning, everyone!

Lynn
I drove in and had a look on the way home. Beautiful home, lots of fire damage, roof blown out, garage a wreck, and I would say, a total loss thought parts of the roof still there, and the exterior walls. I would say it is a half-million dollar house. The roof was smoldering so that's probably what called the army out again.
Such a shame, probably electrical something from the outside which spread very rapidly. No injuries, and no hydrants close, so it was a tanker shuttle...

No birdy sightings at our nest this morning -
and it is time for me to sleep. Hidey IS making a racket though above the nest.

Hope all are feeling better today than yesterday. After all, It IS the First Day of the Rest of Our Lives !
