Brought this over from last thread...didn't want RED to miss it;)....

THIS IS FOR RED (don't show Mrs. Red ;).....
'Some people ask the secret of our long marriage. We take time to go to a restaurant two times a week. A little candlelight, dinner, soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesdays, I go Fridays.'

A man inserted an 'ad' in the classifieds: 'Wife wanted'. Next day he received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: 'You can have mine.'

Good morning.
Jo remember the Grinch got kind hearted so you are safe. Great show. Little girl with the lead had a fabulous voice and the guy who played the Grinch was great. Hundreds of children there but you could hear a pin drop. MM has great seats. 8th row in the middle. I got to go because her friend was hunting. Get to go to A Chorus Line in a few weeks.
Have a good Monday. Wanda loved those jokes.

wOW!! I finally watched that PBS hour on B. Eagles last night. Amazing footage.

I may, or may not be "up" permanently. ☻☻☻ Late to bed, but our crazy management decided to conduct its annual "white glove inspection" on Wednesday (who knows what hour?). So, I have to stop everything and try to swab this area down ... inside and out.

Have a magnificent Monday, beginning a splendiferous week.

Costume Lady said...

Jo, I just walked into my office and I can hear a bird chirping...thought it was outside my window. Still a little staticy.

Costume Lady said...

Well, Jo, did you read my explanation as to why you couldn't see it?

Mits said...

right now, Jo, just buzzing noises

Mema Jo said...

I sure did! I checked it all out and it really did return!

Mema Jo said...

Then the tapping noise I hear must mean that my speakers are going haywire!

Mits said...

and now I hear nothing.

Costume Lady said...

I must be insane...who on earth is interested in seeing a filling station? I was so happy about the price of gas, I just had to post it. Then Sharon told us of gas for $1.59 and burst my bubble. LOL Have to find that station!

Atlanta Update for Monday..........

Monday, November 24
Over the past weeks we have all been reporting about the changes and the developments that are occurring with the cub. His steady progress has been spectacular to watch. Now Lun Lun will undergo a few changes also.

With all the forward steps that the cub has made and Lun Lun’s commendable mothering skills, eventually the services of the cub-watchers will not be required. And, because of these advances Lun Lun must return to her normal schedule of care. Slowly, over the next several weeks, she must readjust to receiving all of her bamboo and other foods by the time staff leaves at the end of the work day. No more midnight trips to the cooler for fresh bamboo. In essence, Lun Lun is being weaned!

UPDATE FROM BWO..........

11/24/08:
Technical Note
On Monday, we will be running scans of our computer to determine what is causing our image updating problem. While this work is going on, the cam might be down.

Wanda...I waited untill you were on to tell you...Saturday evening we went to church and dropped off 54 hard boiled eggs for our favorite pastor to take on his annual hunting trip. After mass he left and I`m sure he stopped at Senaca Rocks for a break. Next stop should have been at Walmart in Elkins for more food. Then on to Huttonsville where "our" "deer camp" is. Thought he might be near where Gene is. It beautiful country there and I wish I was able to join him there. We all had a good time there for a few years. I`ve never shot a deer but was able to bring some back.

Hope Gene gets a least one. I really like venison and I make a real good venison salami. LOL

Does Gene know the story about the Indian Maiden at Seneca Rocks? We stopped there many times. Before the church got so large we took quite a few van trips with Fr. Brian.

Have a nice week.

Hedgie, I have a cardboard cutout that my son got from "Birds and Blooms". I put one of my shirts and cap on it and set it in a lawnchair close to my birdfeeder. It has a wooden hand that I put sunflower seed into and when the birds get used to it then I put the shirt and hat on and put myself in the chair. Birds think I'm the cutout and are not afraid and come right to my hand. Camera is in other hand. Wala! Photos.

Paulleo....Fr. Brian...do you go to St. Leo's?? If so, it would be the same Fr. Brian who has officiated a few weddings there that I've been to. Really great priest.
My SIL makes good venison salami, too...but I don't care for it...everyone else sure does, tho'.
Remember the Seneca Rocks story from the one time I was there when I was just a kid!

paulleo said...

Hedgie...Yes we go to St. Leo Church in Inwood. And I agree, Fr. Brian is a great priest.

Here`s a good one...We live just a few minutes away from St. James in Charles Town but Fr. Brian Owens understands that as long as his "best friend" Fr. Brian Shoda is at St. Leo`s then I will be going there.

I often go to Charles Town Presbysterian where my daughter goes...I've always been a Presby...I have a hang-up about going to church alone (I know, I'm a bad girl!), so for special occasions I make the trek down there. Will be there Thurs. Thanksgiving Service--daughter is in the bell choir and they are playing. Love the bells--played them when I was teenager.

ST. LEO'S...
Wonderful church, I guess you could call it a business. They seem to be very productive. A few years ago, they had a Benifit for a young boy with a serious ailment (I can't remember what it was now), and I was asked to donate a Santa Suit for the Silent Auction. I did so, and was invited to attend and enjoy the wonderful buffet they had set up. Gene and I enjoyed it so much...bought a lot of wonderful items at the auction.

paulleo said...

Hedgie...I used to go to the old St. James church. Went to a Knight of Columbus meeting in the new church lower level and they have the beautiful stained glass windows from the old church in the hall displayed with lights behind them. They gave me a tour but the lights were out in the main church.Need to go back some other atime.

Guess what...Our third Son, his daughter and his son were Bell Ringers for a time at the Presby. church. The lady in charge still does a wonderful job. And the people there a really nice too.

paulleo said...

Wanda...I just guessed that about Gene. That Walmart has the best hunting section that I have ever seen. I`m going to look up where Files Creek is too. (Is Carol on athe blog?) Think Gene would be interested in "our" location. It`s private but guests are welcome.
That fund drive at St. Leo`s was started by a Knight and the whole church picked up on it, Thanks to a lot of people like yourself it was very successful.

Ladies - You might want to think twice before making your husband accompany you when you go shopping.

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunately, my wife is like most women - - she loved to browse.
Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Wal-Mart.

Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Samsel are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away.'

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway.

6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department.

8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?'

9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme.

12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels.

13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!'

14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!'

And last, but not least:

15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!'

THIS GENTLEMAN MUST CERTAINLY BE OUR "RED". LOL

hedgie said...

Back for a short look-see. Paulleo, what is your sons' name? I'm sure Christie (Reed) probably knows them. I had read that St. J 's had taken their old stained glass to the new building..must be lovely!
Neat way to acclimate the birds to YOU, Red!!!
Yea, Sharon...home in your own abode...bet it feels good..."there's no place like home!"
Had a brief power outage right as the sleet --> rain started....having to reset clocks, microwave, stereos, etc. ARGH!

hedgie said...

Paulleo--the music director, Ceil, is fantastic...she wants to retire but they keep giving her incentives to stay...she does it all: organist, choir director and bells--there are 5 bell choirs!
The people there are nice, and even tho' so many Presby churches are "dying" because of aging congregations, there seems to be a good influx of younger folks there.

Costume Lady said...

Lynn, I never liked to go to church alone either. When Gene was still working...he seldom had Sundays off. Managers seldom had weekends off at Food 4 Less. Anyway, I was always glad when he did get a Sunday off and we could go together...I felt complete.
Anytime you would like to go with us, just holler :)

It`s snowing at Harrison Michigan at the Extreme Bird Feeding location...Can you believe that they use over 200 pounds of bird food a WEEK?
Also must be snowing at the Snowman Cam. The numbers on the snow guage are covered in snow.(But the snow is not that deep though LOL)

Red said...

Paulleo, I have two feeders and I use 25 lbs of sunflower seed a week. I'm surprised thats all they use.

paulleo said...

Red...Maybe they have so many feeders that the birds don`t know which one to go to and then give up.LOL I haven`t seen many birds there.

BTW thanks for confirming my comment about the Cookies and the Temporary Internet Files. Do you empty your tempy files automatically when you close out your brouser?

Those last chance gunshots are a risk...takes a really good hunter to see what they they are shooting, and then to find it...

I'm wondering if the Choo Choo is Amtrak, or, more likely, Norfolk and Western.

Another gunshot....

magpie said...

Wonder where our Big Birds are tonight and how they are keeping dry....
havn't given up on a visit yet but work time looms....12-hour shift coming up..

Red said...

Does NCTC allow hunting?

magpie said...

The Canada Geese here are really flying low and south, makes such a wonder honking noise....
as I said before, I am pretty sure they are just locals...flying too low to be migrating...

hedgie said...

Okay, Margy, we'll have to plan it.
Paulleo, I'll ask daughter if she knows them....sure, of course, that she does!
It is getting more raw every hour...still some sleet mixed in w/ the rain here.
SIL brought me corn, so hopefully my deer will come and stay and be safe!! Have heard shots all day.

magpie said...

Nagative, RED, but there are many farms close by....

magpie said...

Farms and Woods I should say...it is in a pretty rural area...

hedgie said...

I don't know if NCTC has legal hunting or not, but I overhead something on the scanner the other day that sounded like DNR was on to info about some employee hunting that they were going after!

hedgie said...

Oops--overheard, I meant!

Costume Lady said...

Margy, the hunters are still fireing around here and it is entirely too dark and late to see and hunt properly...should be a time limit on hunting. It is pitch black here.

magpie said...

I guess I don't know that for sure about NCTC - just figure it would be impossible that they would allow it!

Paula will know...

Mits said...

Wanda, my puppy days are over, don't want the responsibility.

magpie said...

Some places allow Bow Hunting...selectively, like DuPont (or the old DuPont, now FasLoc) in northern Berkeley County...friend of mine does that...

Time to change from pajamas to street clothes, pack lunch, and get ready to head out...might be back one more time before heading out..

You all have a nice, warm, dry evening if you can... xo ♥

NatureNut said...

Hope you have an uneventful PM at work, Margy.
The turkey was a pet of one of our naturalists. He brought it in to Park for one of our "Kid's Days" & put it in the log cabin garden enclosure. It went for programs at other Nature Ctrs w/him & would walk up & down the aisles of meeting room like a pet!

Mits said...

just heard another shot....guess to me it would be nice if there were a set time...like sundown

Red said...

The reason I asked was because I heard gunshots there today.

NatureNut said...

I guess birds are hunkered down, so I can go boil more extra cabbage for the corned beef.
BBL ☺ ☺ ☺

magpie said...

"Last Light" I guess is how they regulate it, Wanda...but some people know how to stretch that! It is definitely last light if you ask me !

Red said...

Every place I have ever hunted Sundown it the cut off point.

Costume Lady said...

Helen, my puppy days were over a long time ago. Love them but just like having a child to care for and I am past that stage of my life, too.
I would love for my Mom to have a puppy for a companion, but fear it would be too much of a burden on her. Sure would keep her company.

NatureNut said...

Helen, I think sundown IS the set time, but maybe that's just MD.

Mits said...

Red, when the audio is working you can hear a lot of stuff going on, geese overhead, children laughing, gunshots, the guy that lives nearby has a motorcycle, jet planes flying by....

Costume Lady said...

Oh, Loretta, I love corned beef and cabbage. We have a nice big one somewhere in our freezer, but it is about 3 ft. down near the bottom and I haven't the energy to dig it out. I think it has been there for 10 years :)

Don't steal a car in North Carolina!

North Carolina authorities say a shopper clubbed an alleged carjacker with a frozen turkey as he tried to steal a woman’s car in a grocery store parking lot Sunday. Other shoppers came to her rescue, including one who hit Ervin with the turkey.

Despite serious head injuries, Ervin got away in Bailey’s car and hit several other cars as he fled. But police arrested him a short time later.

Mits said...

hey its Thanksgiving time....what did that idiot expect...;)

deb said...

I thought it was funny, too. Knowing today's society he will probably sue the turkey hitter.

Those puppies are sure craving attention today. Oh, it is dinner time!

Update on Sharon

Just finished phone call from our gal who is traveling to Charlottesville to see the Surgeon.
Andrew and his friend Jon are the ones driving her there. She sounded strong - but wanted you all to get those prayers & positive thoughts heading her way! The surgeon knows she is headed his way and she should arrive around 9 to 9:30. Bev, Helen or I will keep you advised as we hear any news.

Primo is lying by the feeder.

GUN TOTING DOG.....

PORTLAND, Ore. — Henry Marcum has nothing but kind words for the dog that shot his 23-year-old son this weekend.

Marcum says his son, Matthew, was standing in Tillamook Bay at the start of duck-hunting trip when his dog jumped into the boat, setting off a 12-gauge shotgun.

The blast blew a hole in the aluminum boat before hitting Marcum, who is recovering from injuries to his legs and buttocks at Portland's Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

Henry Marcum says he's not angry with the dog, and neither is his son.

The elder Marcum says the Labrador named Drake is a good dog and the shooting is "just one of those things."

Too bad about Sharon. Glad that Andrew was able to take her so that Sissy gets a break. Hope he's a careful new driver!! So the surgeon is going to be waiting for her? That's good, but obvious that he is concerned to do so. If she doesn't have to stay, sure hope they spend the night at Thelma's . Prayers riding w/ them!

deb said...

Oops, forgot to use the puppy pads. :( 6 puppies would be a lot of work!

Mits said...

Thelma is about 90 minutes away I think, they told Sharon to go to the ER when she got there, so don't know if her surgeon will be waiting, but I hope he is...
