I'll get everyone, Thanks, Steve.
Thank you Deb and Steve. I just had to mention that I bought gas yesterday for $1.89 :):)A new service station opened up on my way home, on shepherdstown Rd. I will never have to go out of my way again to get gas! Posted a photo of it on Wild and Wonderful...very nice.Sunday, November 23, 2008 7:03:00 PM
I am not gunho about these late evening threads! Thrilled - yesStartled by Deb - yes! Thank you Steve
Wanda - I can't find that gas station
It wasn't necessarily a pretty game, but a win is a win is a win!! GO REDSKINS!!!!
Margy, I'm confused....sat tracking said ISS at 5:30 for me...and there's no way it could take that long an interval to be visible for you......needless to say, I DIDN'T see it. But Venus and Jupiter are beautiful!!!
I guess I missed you, Margy, but I know you will be back. Yes, GeeGee is well today. She is kinda wrung out from all the poking and proding that was done to her, but she felt well enough to make an egg custard just before I left to go home. She begged me to stay, but it was getting dark and I don't like to travel by myself after dark. I am a wimp! Couldn't spend the night, I have Santa Suits to steam and sell tomorrow. She knows I'll be back, soon.
Jo, what do you mean you can't find the gas station??
Good evening everyone Indiana Nesting eagles----Dave
Do you mean not familiar w/ name? ROC's stands for Roach Oil Company, a long-time local supplier--they used to have Texaco stations; switched to Shell a few years ago, and hooked up w/ Subway franchiser.
Well, now, what do you know, that service station was robbed already. Not only did they take the money, they took EVERYTHING!;)I caught the thieves, JO, and made them put everything right back where they found it. Try again. "Wild and Wonderful"
Howdy evening people The New Rocs is just outside the city limits of Martinsburg...wish it was IN THE CITY actually....The old Shenandoah Valley Health Services building Used to be there.Wanda - maybe GeeGee will just enjoy looking at everyone's avatars...! That's a treat in itself. Let me rephrase something: All of you are Special Momsters, but I don't have THAT many blank CD's = = xox xo ♥ ♥ ♥ ☺
Have you seen the one I am speaking of, Lynn? It is really nice.
Hi, Dave! How's everything out your way? Have you heard from Miss Vicki lately?
Hedgie: I can't figure out the time difference either for ISS..should be pretty much the same....?? ?? Maybe they pick the far east of 25401 and the far west of 25427..that could make just a tiny bit of difference I guess...MITS would know !☺
I am thrilled to have the station on my way home. I can pick up a loaf of bread and milk and gas and go. Yeah!
Yes, Wanda...saw it, but haven't stopped there yet. Convenient for when I head to Ranson if I need gas! I always go 45 to 480 and then to Kearneysville and pick up the new bypass. Much faster that way.
Funny comment, Wanda, re Rocs: it is just a matter of time 'til it gets hit! This is definitely the Christmas Stealing Season Sad, isn't it....
NatureNut said... Put my Park Pics on blog w/"Big Woody Woodpecker". ☺ ☺ ☺ EnjoySunday, November 23, 2008 7:24:00 PM
Lynn, I think it is RED who is friends with Vicky.
What CD are you copying, Margy?
Oops. Thanks Wanda for straightening me out!
I am the far west of 27, Margy!!! Maybe I should try Berkeley Springs zip!
Music Alert If you are Roy Orbison fans, or not, on Tuesday on PBS (My channel 3) I can't remember the time, mabye around 8 pm? a Roy Orbison special, black and white, in a smoky setting but also has Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, KD Lang, Bonnie Raitt, it is really good, some great Jammin'. It's been on several times before but it is really good! ☺ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫
The pileated Woodpecker is so special. Looks prehistoric. We have a nest of them in the woods next to us...we can hear them (sounds like a jungle bird) but don't see them very often. I have never seen a cedar waxwing...now I know why, they like berries. I need to do some more wildlife planting. Going to do my butterfly garden in the spring.
Is anyone a peppermintholic? Two new items that are delicious...Edy's "Limited Edition" Peppermint Ice Cream--very similar to the old HOward Johnson's version--and Hershey's white chocolate w/ pieces of peppermint kisses......mmmm good!
Oh, Margy, I have watched that several times and have the CD. It IS great...the guest artists "fought" over the privelege to perform w/ Roy, who to me is one of the greatest ever! You can see their adoration of him in their eyes!
Sounds great, Margy. KD Lang's "Constant Craving" and Roy Orbison's "Crying" are some of my favorites.
Loretta! They are great pictures ! I am happy to say that we have Pileateds in Berkeley County, also Downies, Hairys, Red-Bellieds, and I saw some Red-Headeds two years in a row but not this year! ☺
Pics are great, Loretta. Sure is hard to believe that Jug Bay is frozen already!
... Well, Hedgie....it is a Christmas music CD.... ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪
Margy, I showed my Mom a photo of the pheasant and she said she has never seen one in all the thirty-some years she has lived there. How special for me to see one and to get a picture (bad as it is) to show her. ISN'T WILDLIFE WONDERFUL?
Wanda - I must kidnap you and take you to Swanging Bradge next year! You and anyone else that can join us! I have seen as many as 40 or 50 there, there are very communal...such a fun bird to watch !
I love the pileateds, but they are SO destructive. They have killed several trees on my property--they peck to get the harmless bugs and make so many big holes that then the bad bugs get in. I hear them when I go outside all day long!
Good evening everyone. Hope all is well with everyone. Mema Jo, we got gas for 1.59 yesterday in Troutville, Virginia. Unbelievable. I am going to go stretch out in the bed for a little while. Wore slam out!
Wanda, we used to have pheasant and grouse all the time when we lived on Ridge Rd. Of course it was mostly still orchard and farmland then...those days are gone. Used to joke while driving down road that we could get our meal if we just stopped the car and used a net!!
Wanda - glad you are familiar with that Roy Orbison show! I am probably going to have buy the DVD too...I will be working that night, unfortunately... Hedgie! I used to work at Howard Johnson's! I was at the ice cream counter of all places! I loved their peppermint ice cream, and most all of the 27 flavors !! ☺ ☺ There should be a smiley face pic with a big slurpy tongue hanging out somewhere, that would be me! xo ♥
Good for you Sharon! Too bad WV doesn't lower their gas tax to where VA's is. Rest and take it easy. Did you call the Dr.?
I cooked a big beef roast a few days ago, and took the fat off of it and placed in the suet feeder. The woodys just love it. Have every kind of woody on it but the pileated. I guess they are too big to hang on. We have an old stump just below the feeders, that the pileateds visit when they decide to show up. Stump looks terrible there, but have to keep pileateds habby;)
Man oh Man Blogger cop is bound to get us! Can't post fast enough! Hi Sharon.....enjoy, relax...rest... Howard Johnson down on Rt 340 across from the two race tracks in those days, Shenandoah Downs and Charles Town Races....long time ago, long gone now...is a nice little diner though. Wanda I have a nice pheasant card, I will send it to your Mom ! ♥ ♥
Oh, Margy, I haven't seen the show. I'm just a fan of both those singers. I will find the time of the show and watch it. Love that PBS CHANNEL.
120 users on the RDHC Cam...and not a creature in sight !
She will like that, Margy:)
Lynn, haven't called the doctor yet but figure I will have to in the morning. Not looking too good.
Margy, you've got mail!!
Hedgie - Wanda - sorry, I got my two red-headed ladies mixed up, Hedgie has the CD- Wanda wants to see it ! ♥
Loretta, great pictures. I haven't ever seen a pileated woodpecker.
I asked Bill to stop at HoJo's in Winchester on his way back from hunting one time....told him exactly where it was...he called and said the only thing there is a Denny's! I didn't know it had changed! He thought I was crazy...well....
Sharon, if I could find gas for $1.59 I would gas up the Eagle Express and go across country again!
Lynn, who is Bill?
Well, I am pushing my computer to the limits...gonna eat the cookies and shut down and come back up, it's going to take a little while - -This will force me to get some "housework" done....BBIALW xoxo
DEB - Come back to West Virginny! We'll hijack you out to Swanging Bradge in the Spring.... I have heard them other places too, and have Northern Flickers in this neighborhood sometimes...aaaaaH ! ♥
Oh, there was just a big deer at RHDC - probably still hanging around !
Amazing Race is coming on. GREAT chatting with you. BBL
My pictures from today are on my page. There is a picture of a red-tailed hawk with its dinner, be forewarned!

Wanda, Bill is "my guy"!
DEB Good pictures... what kind of bird meal is the hawk having ?
I saw those pictures, Dave. I really like the ones with the eagle, of course, but I think my favorite is about the 4th one down: a water picture, with the reddish tree in the middle.
Hi magpie; It looks like crow tome. Great photos magpieIndiana Nesting Eagles----Dave
More new pics, Dave, or the fall colors from yesterday?
I am not sure, it is a black bird of some sort, it was pretty destroyed. I wanted to get closer, but was worried about disturbing dinner, so took what I could get. I didn't see it catch it, I noticed it sitting in the ditch.
Luney's Sunday Update....Sunday, November 23On Friday the cub was 83 days old, and he received another clean bill of health from our veterinarian, Dr. Sam Rivera. He got his second distemper vaccine and a full check-up. During the exam, Dr. Rivera noticed that one upper canine tooth is just about to erupt! The rest of the cub's teeth were securely underneath the gums, but will probably start to push through over the next few weeks. We also got another set of body measurements for the cub. The measurements are as follows: body length: 49.5 cm; tail length: 6.3 cm; neck girth: 28 cm; chest girth: 43.5; abdominal girth: 47.5; nose pad width: 4.8 cm. Scroll down to the Nov 11th update to see how much the cub has grown in the past 2 weeks. As always, I remain in awe of how big the cub's belly is- 18.7 inches!Heather Baker RobertsCarnivore Keeper I
Wow, Dave, what beautiful fall trees. Do you have aspens that get that golden yellow?
Great photos Deb Guess we both went looking for birds today. New phtos also posted on Glo's Glimpses. A special one for MeMa Jo She will know which one it is.

Hi Nature Nut We have a lot ofmaple which are both red and yellowbut no aspin.Did you find the eaglesitting in the tree. Dave
Sharon, I had small (1/4") surgical incision get infected last Dec. when they did carotid stent (up thru the femeral artery from the hip). Went to reg. Dr. He sent sample to lab suspecting it was MRSA. They could not test it as the vial was damaged & sample contaminated!! DUH. Whatever it was, antibiotics cleared it up.That was an unusual procedure---you are awake, but not supposed to move or talk (took 20 min.)You're pretty much tied down & they placed squeaky horn by my right hand. On command I had to squeeze it to let them know I was "still there". Just like Clarabell the Clown if you know of Howdy Doody Show!
I found the eagle!!
That is funny, Loretta, honk if you hear me!! Probably wouldn't be funny, though, if something went wrong and you didn't honk back!
Someone is in the puppy pen.
Dave, I went back & found him in the 2nd & 3rd pics. This time I enlarged!
I agree, Deb. That was a hoot of a surgery. Think I was unconcious for all the others, thank goodness!BTW, Sharon---last surgery I had before this was in 2003 for something normal-gallbladder. They did that thru belly button!!
I looked at your wonderful pictures, Glo, is the eagle wet?? It's tail feathers look like they are.
Guess I was trying to do too many things at one time...WIndows threw me offline! Took advantage and ate some Ice Cream!!! Taping 24, so now going to watch Cold Case and The Unit. See y'all later!
well I don't think it was wet Deb Not sure how long it had been there when I spotted it though. Might have been recently fishing the gulls surely were actively fishing today.
The last one in the slide show is the one that made me wonder. I couldn't figure out how to make them bigger, but now that I got it, in full screen they look dry.
Glad you figured it out they are much nicer on full screen and the two other photos enlarge if you click on them as well.
That eagle had just finished preening every single feather several times :)
I got that right away, so I kept clicking the ones in the slide show, but nothing happened. Then on my second time through I saw the arrows on the side.
I guessed wrong on the duck picture, even my bird expert isn't 100% sure, but thinks it is a juvenile male lesser scaup.
Ha Ha Nature...loved the Aflac duck, too!Hedgie - love those peppermint kisses.Dave - nice fall colors...Have to check out all the other pics, too.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...I'm sitting here with a newly re-booted 'puter and a hot cup of coffee. Waiting on our two Mountaineers to make an apperance...and I have sound!BRING EM ON!
Good morning everyone. I hear an eagle at Maine but haven't seen them yet. All is quiet on the home front this morning. That is a real blessing. Our niece is in the hospital giving birth to a new great niece, Evelyn (Evie) Rose Riffe. Good news!!! ♥♥♥☺☺☺
This is their 2nd, have a 2-year-old boy and now a baby girl. The Riffe family has really been looking forward to this great news!!
A BABY GIRL! They are sooo special. I had a girl for my first grandchild and hope my first Great Grandchild is a girl. I have two of my own and I know how sweet they can be. But then, I have two grandsons and they are sweet too. LOVE BABIES:)
The sound is wonderful this morning, still a little stacticey, but I can hear chirping very clearly.
I hear gunshots in the background, I'm afraid that may keep Lib & Belle from a visit this morning.
Gunshots all around my house. Sounds like a war zone. I don't think I will go outside today.
Good Morning EVERYONESound is GREAT!!!Prayers for those that need them and praises for many answered prayers ( :
I have lost my sound at the nest site. No static...nothing:(
Good Morning, Dana...do you still have sound?
I have to refresh mine to get the sound back. It is like there is a timer with it or something. We are very excite about this baby girl coming. Riffe's are notorious for having boys and not girls. They are a rarity for sure. Tom's mother had 9 boys and 2 girls.
There is an eagle at BWO!!
Sissy, sometimes families do have a genetic disposition for one sex or the other. Gene's brother had seven girls and we have two. I believe the male determines the sex of the baby.
Yeah MeMa Jo found her picture LOL.Good morning all. I think i have sound but don't hear too mch except a very low hum at the moment. ooops theres a twitter. Would love to see our eagles. Enjoy your day.
My sound is trying to come back on. I haven't heard any shots for awhile, here. Maybe the deer have headed for the far-away hills and the hunters will go home and Lib and Belle will visit.
Hi, Glo...yes, I hear the twitter, too. Enjoy your day.
I am giving up on our visit this morning...I have Santa Suits waiting to be steamed. BBL
Good morning y'all. All is fine here but looks like a cloudy day.

A little candlelight, dinner, soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesdays, I go Fridays.' A man inserted an 'ad' in the classifieds: 'Wife wanted'. Next day he received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: 'You can have mine.'
