GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!!---It's a cool--cloudy--w/sun peeping through--a.m. in WV---temp. 42°--but windy---MEGAN---I am so happy to read the good news regarding your daughter's hand---COOL that you have such great friends (HELEN & CEIL) looking out for you---!!!--LIFE IS GOOD!!---I have study group--late as usual--ENJOY THE DAY!!---p.s. W/check with DNR about keeping deer out of your yards----I know how they can clean out a bird feed in a few min.---BEAUTIFUL CREATURES though!!
Hi Suzanne, Paula, Megan, Jim, Red, Norma & Glo- Megan what great news about your daughter's hand. Modern medicine - it is wonderful and I'm so glad for her.
Suzanne, thanks again for your great pictures!!
Great plates, Paula
Have a great day everyone, we have to head to Westminster, MD to meet some friends - so I'm off for now.
Morning Iris, Paula (love the plates), Red (wife is keeping you busy I see), Megan (wow so glad daughters hand is mending beautifully and the help you had in finding the place prayers do work), Jim (hope you slept), and Norma (oopps late for your study group get to hopping gal).
Good Morning all my eagle buddies (wouldn't name each of you for fear of forgetting one or two) It is going to be a Wonderful Wednesday as I will have my great grandgal all afternoon & as a dinner guest! Yep! I have a playdate!
Going over to previous thread - sounds like Megan's gal has received some very good news.......
Yeah, Jo, that's why I always say.....Good morning or good night to EVERYONE!!! Can't remember who is on the blog at most times and don't want to offend anyone because of my age-related mind actions.....:):):)!
Oh yeah, supposed to be 26° here tonite, and very windy. Supposed to be very clear tonite, so it will be chilly, but a good night to see the stars. There's a comet visible at night now also.
This comet has been visible at night for a couple of weeks, you can see it quite well with a pair of binoculars. It looks like a large star to the naked eye, with binoculars you can really see it's a comet. Worth a look, it's beautiful. sky map for Comet 17P/Holmes and read more and see pictures at spaceweather
yes, Megan, have been reading about the comet, if I had gotten up early the other day, could have seen the crescent moon, one of the planets the space station and shuttle after it undocked and the comet, thought about it then went back to bed....had sent Jo all the info for her Aaron.
Wanda - my boss is into woodturning...this guy showed some of those pieces at his woodturning meeting last night...just thought I would share the website...the stuff is soooo pretty.
Good morning, eagle lovers! Brrrrr...it's cold and windy up on this mountain. It was 38 when I left my house and it was 28 when I got up here. There was also a trace of snow on some leaves on the ground. I can see Spruce Knob (the highest point in WV) from the office and there is no snow up there - which surprises me. What little bit there might have been probably blew away. The cold weather and time change has made me late for work every morning this week. Because it's dark when I get home from work now, I have to get my firewood for that night to the porch in the morning before I leave for work. Every morning so far, I don't remember til I walk out the door to leave. This weekend I'll cart enough for the whole week to the porch - which will make life easier. Heating with wood is a lot of work, but I love the heat. Plus, crazy me - I love to stack wood!
Time for me to hit the road. Hi to all who came on since last time I blogged. Been on other computer, and busy on this one. All have a great eagle/panda day. Blog tomorrow, hopefully. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Wanda (when you return) I see that you have updated Wanda's Wishes-- I was hoping to see your gardens again & your grandson with the butterflies.. Can I get to them anywhere else to view?
Wanda - Earlier I could not get down past the Kodak moments... Now I can! I wanted to see Dustin... Which daughter does he belong to? Just trying to get your family straight in my head...
HELLO to you Iris. I missed them too. It seems the only time I get to see them is very early morning (around 6:15). It is a very special time, I guess because we are starting our day together.
BUTTERFLY MAMA--Are you working again this evening?
Pretty much right behind you Jo, just got home from the zoo, about half hour ago, great day on the trail, and good meeting.....GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE!!!!!
Might have missed the comment, but if you haven't, you should read Steffi's Catalina report and you should read and view the material on the Panda cub in SD.
It's raining hard at Pete's Pond, but it isn't mentioned on the weather page, so who knows how long it will last.
I got a notice from Dell that I needed to update my Support Center, and that led to about 2 hrs. of updating. Tried to print something from the Employment Development folks, learned that another update earlier this week had taken out my printer driver...another hour easily.
Everything is supposed to be much improved now...we'll see.
Good morning, world. Very cold morning it is! 26° at my house, 34° here. Didn't even get up to 30° till I hit Sterling, VA! So plan on scraping. But a beautiful totally CLEAR night. There are a gazillion bazillion stars out, and I tried to find the comet, but not sure I could see it. It was too cold this morning, so I just looked at the stars. So was just a tad later than usual this AM. Only about 5 minutes, and still met my boss in the garage, so that's not too bad. Been talking, so have absolutely no cams open yet. Will have to do that, our kids are due in about a half hour, 45 minutes. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Opening my cams, there are 2 OWLS in the owl hotel!!! 2 Barn owls. That's the first time I've seen 2, usually only see 1 in the hotel, and they take off when daylight arrives. Oh, one is awake, glowing eys, and he/she's standing, oh, no at the entrance, other owl is watching. He must have heard something. How cool.
Must be something going on, both owls were by entrance, now both are gone. They're investigating something. Oh, one back already, but watching the entrance.
Well, good morning Wanda and Butterfly! Sorry I haven't been on, been busy. Cold is much better, thanks. I felt good last night for the first time in 2 weeks, and feel almost as good today. Still doing the pills though, want to be over this totally. Butterfly, my thermometer is on my car. It tells me the temp when it's running, that's the only way I know.
Well after reading back over what I missed, guess the kids are a no show this morning! Darn. They're probably huddled together on the branches above the nest, trying to keep warm. Don't blame them!
Suz - eat lots of soup! We have a new cook at the Lodge (where I work) and he brings me a bowl homemade soup everyday. I have been the only one that hasn't caught the bug. DARN I shouldn't have said that!
Guess she's just hanging around waiting for Lib to show up. I think. When she first arrived, she took up the whole nest, but now the way she's standing, could just as easily be Lib. So who knows? Just that we have a beautiful eagle in the nest, and so very nice to see!!
Well, darn. Hope she got to see the eagle, Wanda! I got a few pics, though not many, she didn't do much but look around. I don't have her email, so when I send them to you, you can send them to her. Better than nothing, I guess.
Yes, Wanda, that's the one. Wildwatch owl cam, she calls it the hotel cause owls are in and out, but nobody has really nested there. They use it as a hotel only.
One owl in motel. I wonder if that is the Screech owl or Hoot owl? It says it is a Barn owl, but does it screech or hoot? Oh My...I think I need more COFFEE.
Well good morning everyone. I am soon off for coffee and dog treats. I hear an owl hooting but its on the Maine nest lOL. I get to go to a Staff meeting this morning so am leaving early enough for 2 cups of coffee to get my brain awake before I arrive. Have a good day all.
Red...just checked out the eagle at BW....beautiful. While on that site, I looked at the photo of the Fox that Sid Keiser took. Very nice, but where are the others that he took? BW, let us see some of the others, PLEASE.
Oh, 40° sounds like a heat wave, Mits. Yep, Wanda, it's a shock to the body when you first go out, but we better get used to it. Air feels crisp and clean out there.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!!---WOW!!---COLD!!!---SUNNY day in WV--temp 26°----SUZANNE---Hope you bundled up this a.m.---& that your cold is better!!----HELLO!!---SUZANNE---WANDA---KARLA---GLO---RED & HELEN!!----I was greeted this a.m. by a BW EAGLE & the most BEAUTIFUL RED FOX photo!!!---"LITTLE PRINCE" seems to love this weather as does his MAMA & PAPA!!----Did you see him yesterday, HELEN??----Changed calendar page yesterday & this "Little Black & White IMP" is there!!
MORNIN' MEGAN!!---Talked to a couple orchard people yesterday & asked about your DEER!!---Suggested you might try hanging pieces of SOAP on a string around the area --just put a hole in the middle of a piece to tie it!!---human hair works too---Suggested since you have a big area---electric fence is best!!!
GOOD MORNING NORMA-- Yes, that is a beautiful fox. I would love to have a photo of a FOX to pair-up with the one I bought at OPEN-HOUSE that Bob took. Don't know if Sid Keiser sells his photos or not.
Howdy Norma:) Believe me, we've tried it all.Bars of soap, human hair, pepper sparay, coyote urine(don't ask) ,deer away, etc. etc. Really the only way for me to keep deer out is electric fence, which I have to keep baited or it is not effective.
MORNING WANDA!!---I bet he does!!---I remember BOB QUINN has other photographs of them too!!!---I think they are beautiful creatures-----I had a couple up close my kitchen window last year!!---I was just stunned!!!---I had never seen them that close before---They came back a few times---haven't seen them this year!!!
MEGAN---So what do my friends know any way!!!! ho!---I had a real problem with squirrels eating my bird feed & destroying the feeders----AUDOUBON---put "HOT PEPPER" in bird feed---won't harm the birds & squirrels WON'T eat it!!!----WORKED 2 DAYS---Next a.m. SQUIRRELS WERE BACK-----BIG TIME!!!---w/keep trying---
Megan, saw a bunch of white-tails at the zoo, yesterday, and mentioned it at the meeting last night, because they were so close to the otter exihibit, and they told me one had already fallen into the moat, but it was fine.
SQUIGGLES is a little squigglier this a.m.---nudged BAI--wanting to nurse!!!---BAI rises up now & then to see how she is doing!!!---LOVE WATCHING THOSE TWO!!!
Norma, I was working the top of the trail, and didn't go down, but saw him briefly, and, he was sleeping on the grate, and Mei an Tian were playing. Spent my day with the Sloth Bears, Otters, Fishing Cats and Clouded Leopards.
Usually something we would use would work for a while, then they would adapt to it. We spray our plants with hot pepper for various reasons, it used to repel the deer, doesn't always bother them anymore.
They are such gentle looking animals!!----But they get "spooked" easily!!!----WV is one of the states having the largest highway deer kill!!!----(not good thing)----very dangerous!
Norma, the only way we can keep squirrels off our feeders is to hang them out on wires strung between trees too high off ground and too far away from tree trunk for them to jump onto it. We have to use a ladder to change them, it's a pain.
Good Morning Eagle Buddies! Both the BW eagles greeted me this am A large moose also is lying by the feeder - http://moosewatch.com/ All is calm at Petes Pond.. Su Lin is up in her tree.. Squiggles teeth are coming in! DC panda either eating or napping..

Oh yeah, supposed to be 26° here tonite, and very windy. Supposed to be very clear tonite, so it will be chilly, but a good night to see the stars. There's a comet visible at night now also.
Have a great drive Iris....you are headed near my neck of the woods...
Beautiful bowls and plates. Where do they come from? Do they have anything to do with our group; Who is John?
This comet has been visible at night for a couple of weeks, you can see it quite well with a pair of binoculars. An interesting sidenote -- Sid Keiser just won 2nd place in the Maryland Natural Resource Magazine photo contest.
You can see a small version of his winning photo here
Thanks for the comet link, Megan. Heard about it briefly on the news the other night...
good for Sid, Lisa, I can see why").
Lisa, the honorable mentions aren't too shabby either:):):)
Beautiful fox and other photos too.

Beautiful brisk clear night.
Good night, all.
Might have missed the comment, but if you haven't, you should read Steffi's Catalina report and you should read and view the material on the Panda cub in SD.

GOOD NIGHT, ALL/GOOD MORNING, SUZ AND THE EARLY RISERS...
GOD BLESS YOU.
JIM

GOOD MORNING SUZ--
Hows the cold this morning? Only 1 more day to go and you can rest up and maybe get rid of the bug.
Good Morning Suzanne,
Brrrrr here too. Need to get a new thermometer so I can tell the temp.
Morning my Mother
GOOD MORNING BUTTERFLY MAMA--
It is soooo cold here that the eagles may have flown south for the Winter. LOL
Had to work til closing last night. Jake was shivering when I came home and really wanted in the house!
Don't know what happened with my puter, but I couldn't do anything for about 7 min.
Karla, did you let Jake in?
You worked til closing? Amanda still not coming in?
No, I wanted to but he needs to get used the cool weather. We do let him in at night when it is really cold. He's a BIG baby!
Mother,
New bartender closed for the first time last night, so I stayed with her for training purposes.
SUZ....Are you on here?
No L & B yet. I think they are NO-SHOWS this morning. They do that sometimes.
New employee....someone else for you to adopt. LOL
Ok, don't know if the kids have been here or not, have had folks in here for the last hour! Nobody there now, is all I can say.
No kids for the past 1/2 hour.
No Mother I am not adopting this one. She is 38 and has 5 kids and a new husband and a new house. Shes got her stuff together!! LOL!
Karla--Called Verizon about the e-mail problem and got a Foreigner and couldn't understand him. Will try again today.
Karla...that sounds great; maybe she is a KEEPER.
Well after reading back over what I missed, guess the kids are a no show this morning! Darn. They're probably huddled together on the branches above the nest, trying to keep warm. Don't blame them!
BELLE!!!!
Suz - eat lots of soup! We have a new cook at the Lodge (where I work) and he brings me a bowl homemade soup everyday. I have been the only one that hasn't caught the bug. DARN I shouldn't have said that!
No, keep that a secret. But I love soup! I eat a lot, and last couple weeks, quite a bit.
Watching Belle in nest!!!!
Guess she's just hanging around waiting for Lib to show up. I think. When she first arrived, she took up the whole nest, but now the way she's standing, could just as easily be Lib. So who knows? Just that we have a beautiful eagle in the nest, and so very nice to see!!
Wanda, Butterfly, you guys still here watching?
wing exercises, thought she was gonna leave, but changed her mind.
Yes, Suz I am here. Karla probably is getting ready for work.
Well, all gone. Darn.
I have to stop refreshing...she disappeared.
Well, darn. Hope she got to see the eagle, Wanda! I got a few pics, though not many, she didn't do much but look around. I don't have her email, so when I send them to you, you can send them to her. Better than nothing, I guess.
Where is the Owl Motel? I must have taken that out of my bookmarks. Is that the one that Jo liked so much?
Ah hah! So you're the culprit Wanda... refreshed Belle right outta here! Now stop that!
Yes, Wanda, that's the one. Wildwatch owl cam, she calls it the hotel cause owls are in and out, but nobody has really nested there. They use it as a hotel only.
OOOHH, we some of those motels here in Martinsburg! LOL
LOL!!!! Ok, not gonna go there!!!
BRB...
One owl in motel. I wonder if that is the Screech owl or Hoot owl? It says it is a Barn owl, but does it screech or hoot? Oh My...I think I need more COFFEE.
Karla, if you come back on here....Have a nice day. BBL
I'm here - but leaving now. You "HOOT" ladies have a good day!
LOL Wanda, yup, you need another cuppa caffine!
Karla, you have a good day too. Stay warm!
Well good morning everyone. I am soon off for coffee and dog treats. I hear an owl hooting but its on the Maine nest lOL. I get to go to a Staff meeting this morning so am leaving early enough for 2 cups of coffee to get my brain awake before I arrive. Have a good day all.
Good morning everyone. Good luck at the staff meeting Glo. I'm getting my wake up coffee right now and getting ready for what this day offers.
GOOD THURSDAY MORNING EVERYONE! Have a good one 2 weeks til Turkey Day:)

Twos of em at BW.
GOOD MORNING MEGAN AND MITS..
22° here.
Oh...Capt. said it was 22° when we first got up. Don't know what it is now. Feels like 10°!
Oh, 40° sounds like a heat wave, Mits. Yep, Wanda, it's a shock to the body when you first go out, but we better get used to it. Air feels crisp and clean out there.
