LOL ☺

Jewels said...

cool, thanks for the info Margy!! I will get the cam brought up. I have all the appts written down...and I scheduled the follow up appts while I am not working. So I can get allt he info the Dr's provide!!

The nest is so bright!! Love it!

maybe the solar flares will knock the blog back into shape tomorrow!

Lolly said...

Watched AI tonight. I voted for Hollie.

Watched the NBG video. That was awful...really scary! Wish they could get eggs and eaglets this season before they have to take down the nest. That is very sad.

Lynne, I really do think they are Cedar Waxwing feathers, but why under the feeders. Wild! We get the Waxwings but not in that area. They love the pond. We have seen them flying down to the pond like they feed on berries.

Lolly said...

Jo, it was very exciting that Lynn called you. I know you felt really great hearing from her.

Jewels, we really appreciate all your updates on your mom. Keeping all of you in prayer.

Lynne2 said...

how many feathers was it Lolly?

stronghunter said...

:)

Lynne2 said...

My theory on the feathers would be one involving a waxwing having been preyed upon by a raptor of some sort, if it were a lot of feathers.

Lynne2 said...

If it was only a couple, and only tail feathers, I'd have to guess just a random natural dropping of feathers while in flight on the way to the berries.

Or magic.

stronghunter said...

I am about to head upstairs, so I stopped by to say good night. Love you all. God bless.

Lynne2 said...

Good night Shirley!

Lolly said...

I think I found 3 feathers and a few without the yellow.

Guess we will never know! LOL

I finished writing all the reports that arose from today's meetings. Time for another cup of tea I think. Belle is getting in strange cortortions tonight...head bent in to look at her brood patch perhaps...earlier her head twisted yet it was on the nest grasses not tucked in!!! Bright beautiful well lit nest.Belle turned around and is facing ten position.

Hoda said...

Belle is up and doing an egg rollmakes a complete circle around the cup and is now facing ten again. she settles back in but is not asleep, looking around.

Costume Lady said...

HODA, I was watching Belle do her contortions, too and thought she might be hearing some egg whispers, maybe a premature chicklet trying his best to get out:)

magpie said...

The hatches just got done being battened down here at this roost.

Good on your day's activities, Hoda, and great Springtime adventures await you !

Once again, had a very full day and I am worn out. Exercised for 2 hours (still can't walk backwards) and was able to step up on the highest step stool, FINALLY.
Saw my surgeon and he is pleased as punch with his masterpiece knee replacement. LOL I can drive and I can continue with my own therapy at home, but I talked Dr. into another month of therapy at the gym where I have been going. I know I will do better there than at home, and I like it there:)
I do owe thanks to the Lord for helping me do so well~
Visited GG and she ran across the family room with me!!! I think those shots she got yesterday have surely helped her:)

Lynne, thx for posting the NBG nest troubles. I see they DO mention other attractants~~the lake or whatever by the airport. I always thought what good would it do to take down the nest when the birds will still go there to fish. And how do you prevent eagles from building nests in the area? Cut down all the trees??
I hadn't been watching there as I thought there wasn't a permanent mate yet for NBG Dad, but since there's been talk of egg laying, maybe there will be a season for them~~they better not touch that nest 'til summer.
Thank you for listening. I'll get off my soapbox before I turn into a pumpkin!☺
Jewels, thx for report. So sorry they can't do something for Charlie ASAP! Please give Lynn a hug. We love and miss her.
Gotta hit the hay--couple appts tomorrow because it's my day off!!!

Pleasant Feather Dreams, Prayers for all, especially Lynn, Charlie, & Carolyn ;>)

WANDA how so ver exciting your idea of a possible early hatch!!! I like that...I do not know what she was doing but I had never seen her doing it before. I 'll hold your thought...good one.

Hoda said...

Ok what is going on there? This is NBG 2nd video today...who is in the nest and who was on the branch chased away?
What is going on in this NBG video?

Will def deliver hugs, gentle hugs to Mommy!! Good night eagle pals.

Hello HODA and JEWELS!

Happy International Women's Day back atcha!

Is that a spot I see on the eagle head in the nest?

Jewels said...

Oh dear Hoda, this whole shift has dragged by!!! Its been ok, just dumb calls tonight... :P

Jewels said...

Sure thing Lolly!!! Good early morning Lori!!

Lori O. said...

HODA, thanks for the NBG videos, I haven't watched the second one, yet. Ooooohhh, the first was was scary! Then to read about getting rid of the eagles there is really upsetting!

LOLLY, let me know how you like your rubber mulch. My soil is so bad I've always used the regular wood to improve my dirt! Oh, things I could do here if I had a shredder and a big bucket truck! A backhoe would be nice, too!

PAULA, thanks for the Lonely Louie story yesterday...and for bringing up Hoda's dragon boat racing. I can't wait to see that video, HODA!

Lori O. said...

Jewels, I'm so sorry. Nothing worse than a shift where you watch the clock! I'd rather be crazy busy!

I was so happy to hear your Mom was making some phone calls yesterday. I miss her so much!

And, poor Charlie! Heck, poor Jewels - you have had a crazy couple of weeks. I sure hope you get some rest soon. Maybe your slow shift is what I call forced relaxation!

Lori O. said...

WANDA, good on you for reaching that highest step and getting another month of PT! Gangbusters! You are something else!

Lori O. said...

Don't think I slept at all last night. I was so freaked over waking up late yesterday, I kept looking at the clock all night...kinda like your shift, Jewels!

Time to get ready for another big day...have to stop by post office on my way and get gas.

Have a great day, all! Will try to check in later if it's a slower morning. ♥

Lori O. said...

Oh, the weather today
for the NEST is warm!

Mostly cloudy & breezy
with a high near 71.

Good Evening, Everyone,
Fell asleep with Emma in my lap while watching TV. Woke up a little while ago, and got her tucked into her crate.

Have been thinking of, and praying for Lynn all day. Praying for Charlie & Carolyn, too!

Feeling pretty tired tonight. Bet I'll sleep like a baby once we get to the kids' house.

Well, think I'd better try to get some sleep. Kubby's alarm goes off pretty early! Prayers have been said for everyone, and every creature. Making sure the porch light is on, and enabling both security systems. Sleep well, everyone. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you!
Oh--
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEULA!!! Hope your day is very special!
Good night, all. :o]

Good Morning Early Birds---not sticking around, just up for meds and then back to bed.

JO, thanks for FBing my message to Megan ! So happy to hear LYNN was up to calling you and that MARGY got to talk to her yesterday, too !

JEWELS, prayers for Charlie along with those for your dear mom ! Including you, too, as I know how tiring your care taker role is. God bless you for all you do for your family !

Distressing news re:NBG. The female spent the night on the nest cup, but they aren't sure she laid an egg. Daddy Norfolk is on a back branch--both with heads tucked and snoozing. Can't imagine how "they" can move or get rid of the 3 nests in the gardens til' this breeding/brooding season is over. Then, I agree, how do they keep eagles from rebuilding there ????

Later ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Sandi said...

Morning LORI & DMO! Hope you stayed warm last night DMO!

DanaMo said...

Good morning. Chilly here this morning!

Lori O. said...

Good Morning, KAY & DMO!

So, if NBG female hasn't laid an egg yet, she probably will very soon, right? Darn those nest robbing politicians! I get it, but wish there was a better way.

Lori O. said...

Helllooooo Sandi!

Sandi said...

I hear Shep in the attic. Belle is calling and Shep is answering. Switch time?

Sandi said...

Belle exercising those beautiful wings, calling, then POOF! She's off for some food I guess.

Sandi said...

And Shep arrives! Egg roll, then wiggle, wiggle, down!

Sandi said...

At least I am assuming this is Shep. he's facing 12 so I can't see his spot and I'm not as good as others at noticing the size difference when there's only one in the nest.

Sandi said...

Caught up on the blog.

Belle was doing yoga moves last night?

WANDA is running races with GG!

Sad news about NBG - like others have said, they can remove the nests but how do they keep the eagles from building others?

Thinking of LYNN and praying that today is a better feeling one!

Also hoping for a good day for Charlie.

Off to get ready for my Thursday - should be able to check in from school this afternoon.

I do see Shep's spot so Dad is on eggsitting duty.

HAGD all!

Sandi said...

Wow, just checked on NBG. Female was in the nest, male on the branch and you could hear another eagle vocalizing. Then Dad took off like a shot, followed by the female! The trouble continues there! Intruder still around!

Lori O. said...

Thanks for the drama report at NBG, Sandi. Wish they could have a serene season this year! They deserve it.

WV sUSAn said...

Good Morning Sycamore Palace, Her Royal Highnest and Eagle Fans! Another nice, quiet night on the nest.

What drama at NBG. After so many years of building a haven for the eagles, I just can't imagine destroying the nests. No egg there yet, thank goodness.

Happy International Women's Day

Good morning!

Another busy day for me. Exam day for the wannabe adults.

Congratulations Wanda. I remember the surgeon asking if I wanted a prescription for even more therapy but by then the therapist and I agreed she could do little more and I was on my own. Take advantage of the therapy.

NBG situation is very sad. Wish I could think of an alternative.

Hoping Margy and Carolyn have a quiet work day.

Thank you Carolyn for keeping us up-to-date and for being such a good caregiver for your mom. Not sure about Charlie but hope he will get some treatment soon. Please try to get as much rest as you can.

Looks like Shep is enjoying the morning sunshine. Hope he and Belle enjoy the next few days as it won't be long now before there will be busy days.

Okay, need to get ready to head to the school house. Wishing everyone a lovely day. Hugs for Lynn.

Sad Sad very sad new about NBG. I don't know how they will keep eagles from nesting in certain trees. Plus I don't know how they will get them to nest in the trees they want them in. It is going to be interesting finding all this out.

Harrisburg Falcons have their first egg!

3/8/2012 :: First Egg of the Season!
The female exhibited egg laying behavior, late in the afternoon yesterday. This morning, we have the first egg in the scrape! The egg was laid three days earlier than last year. The first and second egg should get only occasional incubation time. When the third egg arrives incubation time should increase. The full clutch will be warmed continuously until hatching begins.

Oh, and there was a hatch on Santa Cruz this week...on Monday

A bald eagle chick hatched this week in a nest near Carl Peak on Santa Cruz Island — the earliest known natural hatching of a bald eagle on the Channel Islands, officials said.

"I didn't expect it until next week," said Peter Sharpe, a wildlife biologist with the Institute for Wildlife Studies.
