Good for his school system ! I'm disappointed that Columbus Public doesn't observe the holiday. I'm gpomg to call Julie about 8 to be sure Seth is okay and went to school. I have also heard of burglars entering that way when it's one for a big dog. I worry about Christie and Shannon's because a person could get through theirs for sure!
Had a little rain in the pre-dawn hours. No fog here. But cloudy and windy----and it was 51° when I woke up. LEAVES are all over everything again, but too blustery to do a nything about it other than maybe blow off the decks. Hope weather is good tomorrow or Sat. so I can get on it AGAIN!

Pet Doors--When Kathryn tried to get a rescue basset, one of the groups she talked to would not let her adopt unless she installed a pet door.
They already were having trouble with squirrels getting into their chimneys. I really wonder what might have gotten in when they were at work.
My new avatar is the dogwood tree in my front yard.
I also wonder how weather tight those pet doors are.
Shirley, I'm sure a lot of air comes in around them....and if a pet is a constant in-and-out type, it's like having an open door!
I know one person who has one that "locks" and only opens when the cat is wearing a special collar that "unlocks" it with radio-waves. Guess that's okay as long as the cat doesn't lose the collar when it is outdoors!
I had thought about getting a storm door with a pet door, so I could close it off whenever I wanted to, but it would probably defeat the purpose of the storm door, and it would allow George to come and go as he pleases, and I am not willing to do that.
Plenty of cold air comes in around the back door, so I should have a storm door.

Morning all from western PA.
I haven't kept up with the blog for several weeks but decided to jump right in. Glad the camera is back on. Did anyone see Nature last night on PBS? I didn't see all of it but it was entitled Jungle Eagles. I think maybe from South America as one of the other birds in the 'hood around the nest they were featuring I've seen on a webcam from there. Anyway, those eagles are surely cousins of our bald eagles and their behavior is very similar. Made me realize how much I've missed webcams this year.
Dog doors--there is one here for Daisy, the golden. I think I could go through it if I tried. Mom said that as soon as Daisy learned how to go in and out, she has never had an accident. She even went outside to throw up one time that I remember. This one seems pretty air tight. The only wildlife that has come in has been a baby bunny and a baby bird that my old cat brought to me.
BHW, I have a new kitten who is 3 months old. I haven't had a kitten in 35 years and it has been such fun. Daisy has accepted him a lot faster than she would have an adult cat.

I'm having all sorts of issues, this morning, everywhere! Must be the rain, LOL. Email is not responding well, double posting on this blog and flipping from one program to another.
Well, DanaJO, your prayers got me through the dentist with no problem detected, but keep them coming for a quick consult with Orthopedist and surgery date.
LYNN, my doctor (DeBord) suggested Dr. Cincinnati. I told him I would take the first surgeon who could get me in an operating room. I wont know which one until secretary calls me today.
GG's doctor (Gallagher) told me to be sure to get an anesthetist who would give me an epidural, that the pain, afterwards wouldn't be so unbearable. I see you will have that too. What can you tell me about that?
Paying bills this morning and just opened up my Electric Bill...it has a .00 amount due. I am a frugal person but, dang, didn't know I was that good! LOL

Dismal without the sun but with the sprinkles. I have a 1:00 doc appointment - It is just to evaluate a new inhaler BUT what I need to discuss is some congestion (not caused by the new med) and coughing. Hubby had some of this before I caught it.
I wonder if Hunter finished his homework I think it was last evening Kathryn let him go to bed and do his work before school.
I've never had the pet door - My cats know that I am the door keeper.

DanaMo - school lunch as a family will be fun - especially with your mom and dad attending.
I do not have a pet door. Have always been afraid of what might come in or what the cat would bring in. Have had many offerings left by the back door. Not good!
Our neighbors have a pet door. One night they saw an opposum enter and head straight to the cat dish. Acted like it knew where to go, like he had been doing this all along. Yikes! They have since locked it. However, when they go on trips they have a pet feeder come each day to feed the cats and empty the cat box. They put a large pet cage outside the pet door and that way the cats can go onto the covered patio if they choose to do so, but they are in the cage.
Funny story, I may have told you before. They bought a stuffed armadillo, a fuzzy kids toy. They put it in our yard. (Jack knew what they were doing) We were outside and I saw it and thought it was real! Duh! Jack went and got his gun. Asked if I was sure I wanted to watch. He pointed the gun and said "bang bang". Then Jany and Hilton, next door, started laughing along with Jack. They had really fooled me!
Well, sometime later, when they were gone, I took the same armadillo and put it just inside their pet door. Hilton claims it did not startle him, but it did Jany! Got them back!
time to sop cleaning... I just sprayed Glade Bayberry Scent air freshen instead of furniture polish so I could dust just one last thing..... UGH.
Kris posted this on Twitter at 3:23 this morning. Not sure if he has passed away yet. He had posted earlier that he was going downhill fast, please pray. Then he posted "frightened". I told him I was praying for peace for him. Then he posted:

Oh, Sharon, prayers for Kris, for sure. So, thankful he has found that peace. God bless him!

Wanda....Ann just called the pain place---they are being taken over by another company and are shutting down for 6 weeks. Dr. Gallagher will have her treatment during that time and hopefully be back when they are ready to re-open.
Okay on your surgeon. Hope it all works out well for you. As for the epidural.....it's injected into the spinal canal, so you will feel nothing from the waist down.
My surgery is set for Tues. at 1:30PM. Just found out that he did not mean epidural for my anesthesia---he meant it for pain control. So they WILL be putting me to sleep......I DON'T want that at all. Great fear of waking up on a vent because of my poor respiratory status. Well, will make sure THAT doesn't happen. They'll just have to let me go if I don't breathe on my own on extubation.
Yes, I laughed too, but truly wanted to kick butts!!! LOL
Jack is ready to walk, he is eating lunch out today with his group. He sent out a message to the group. They take turn choosing where to eat and it is his turn as he is the "talisman" holder. His message was.....
"We are eating at Pulidos today for three reasons..
1. Because I am the talisman holder and I say so
2. Their food is sometimes edible
3. Uhh Uhh Uhh....oops!
If you read the news, you will understand this. LOL

She said "does that mean I have to wait a whole month with this pain?", I reminded her that the shots have not helped her, so, she shouldn't be concerned..."Oh, that's right, I almost forgot. It's the pills that are helping, isn't it? I do get confused at times!" Love her♥

CAROLANNE, I do not like walking into the hospital and climbing onto a gurney and being wheeled into the operating room. That feels so mechanical to me. I like a little TLC before surgery.

Well, frankly, ILOVE PLANTS. No, No, No,...those little suckers cost an arm and a leg wen sent from a florist shop! I buy mine at Walmart, etc. when the are on sale at the end of the season for 50-75¢, then baby them back to health...very satisfying:)
Yep, Jo---it's the monthly plan....it does sometimes vary depending on the balance and usage....but I sure hate that they only read the meter every other month because their estimates aren't always accurate!

It is a pleasant autumn morning and the colours are now very subdued...trees are losing leaves rapidly. Also warming up a bit 36 degrees headed up to 41 today. BALMY.
WANDA thanks for asking Crown is a 100% and mouth is not numb anymore. I think all I have to do now is wait till they giveme the real crown in a couple of weeks.

Finally made a decision on some really spiffy sweatpants & was encouraged to order 2 pairs so that Santa will bring me something, too!ONE pair left!!!Boy, I'm glad I got it! Has anyone used that mailing service that puts a "North Pole" postmark on your envelope? I'd like to try it for the grandkids. Thought I'd print out some letters from Santa reminding them to be good (mention some specific areas they could work on) and have it postmarked "NORTH POLE".

One time hubby was at a banquet. He remarked to the woman next to him that she looked familiar. She responded that she was Michael Learned,

Hedgie - sounds like you have all bases covered. With everyone keeping you in thoughts & prayers you'll be on the road to recovery very quickly.
I've heard of both the North Pole postmark as well as the Bethlehem (PA) and Nazareth (PA) post masks being used but have never tried them. CUTE idea for the grand kids, CarolAnne. Mine are too old for that now at 17 and 13!!!!

LOL, CarolAnne---I am kind of a control-freak....Type A personality. I have to have everything orderly and arranged and pre-planned, etc. I am defin- itely not a spontaneous person!!!
Hedgie - Kids are never too old for Santa letters. Especially the ones composed by someone in the know. Santa can always remind about good grades, or congratulate on some sport event or even just drop a note to say "keep up the good work" "Happy Holidays".
I love the holiday season. When in my pre-teens & teens my daddy played Santa. Visited nieces & nephews & co-workers homes. Being in the know, he could comment on personal things that only family might know. Even the "big" kids ate it up. It is some of my best memories.

CarolAnne - I have COPD and with the first sign of colds or respiratory troubles, I am in the docs door! He has been able to take care of me and keep this old 72 yr motor running.
Now to let you know that Merlin and Timka are the chosen names for the Potted Plant Owls.
Both the Owlets are out of the Planter and can be seen on the deck. Sometimes they won't be in camera range.
Going to put my feet up & yes I have taken the new medicines. I am just tired out due to coughing and getting awake because of it every 2 hrs or less

Well, I am bummed! Just got a retirement letter from the OB/GYN I go to for my yearly. He is retiring at the end of the year. So, I have scheduled an appointment in 3 weeks. I am due to go. One I went to for 30 years retired, this guy replaced him and I liked him and now he is retiring. Big bummer! He gave me a list of doctors, but I will talk with him personally for a recommendation. I have a gp that I go too, and see his nurse practioner, but do not want to go to Carol for this exam!

Saw a new hairdresser this afternoon. I like the way she did my hair, but was a bit offput by her. *+*****************************
The statement above was made by Luna. She is trying to get in my lap. She is a 70-pound lap dog.
Anyway, the hairdresser started off by saying that it looks like I am at the end of my perm . . . I got the perm six weeks ago.
Then she said that I am at the end of my color job . . . I do not color my hair.
Geesh.
She really tried to pressure me to make another appointment.
Hmmm, I think I will just remember how she did the do and move on.
HD also asked if I had ever colored my hair.
I used to get it frosted. Now the good Lord frosts it for me.
LOL Shirley...I do believe it is time to move on! She was really putting the pressure on, and really? time for color when you do not color? Geeeeeeshhh!
I have never colored my either. However, I do still get it high lighted.
