Lolly said...

Lynne, so glad the heating problem is finally solved. Such an irritation! Mabye you have become used to being a wee bit chilly and therefore will not use as much oil?

Not familiar with oil furnaces. We are total electric. Some houses are heated with gas heating but no gas lines out here. We have not turned on our heat yet. Our house if very well insulated and we have not had a long spell of cold weather. 78 right now!

Time to go....BBL.

Boy I was coming in to comment about Skins I think it was 85 got that ball. Good catch!! Then next darn Grossman throws an inception. grrrrr

wvgal_dana said...

LYNNE2 MAKE SURE YOU ASK YOUR OIL COMPANY WHERE TO APPLY FOR OIL ASSISTANCE. THEY CAN TELL YOU. IF YOU QUALITY YOU WILL GET A FULL TANK OF OIL. I DON'T KNOW IF IN YOUR AREA THAT DO MORE THAN 1 TANK FULL OR NOT...BUT PLEASE CHECK INTO IT.

wvgal_dana said...

Hang in there Lynn I know you are going to miss Liesl. I know this will be hard but you two will be back together in no time♥♥

Lynne - yay for heat!!! I love heat.

Lynne2 said...

In other news....

Steve has an interview with UPS tomorrow at 11:30 for a Driver's Helper. It would only be from now til Christmas, but a big help, espcially because,

Seems that Ken has become quite disgruntled with the whole pool situation. His business partner is not helping get it together at all, and his daughter, Kyle's wife, who was so Gun Ho in the beginning is now not putting forth much time and effort either. He will likely be heading back to FLA for a while just before Thanksgiving for an undetermined amount of time. SO I really hope Steve gets this job!

Lynne2 said...

heat is neat, i love heat!

Lolly said...

Will keep Steve in prayer at that time, Lynne. It would be nice if it led to a permanent job. You can always hope!

Lynne2 said...

Thanks Lolly, that would be awesome if he got it and then got something permanent! He's interviewing at the home base for our area up at work....wouldn't it be hilarious if he gets on board with Roberto, our UPS guy! He's the one who told me about all the job openings and to have him apply at that home base so as not to have to drive around in the City.

Lynne2 said...

I am so hopeful! I'll be hyper worried all day tomorrow waiting to hear how it goes! I do know that they hire a LOT of extra help this time of year. There are also positions in the warehouses as well so hopefully he'll get SOMETHING!!!

and we have become used to being chilly...not so bad really. Layers, flannel sheets, ect. I have it set down to 58. He also turned off the radiators upstairs, too. We roasted like chickens up there last year while we froze down here. There is an upstairs thermostat and and downstairs one. So I'm quite sure that the heat will rise nicely for a more even temp throughout.

I think Kyle really did do his best to get this taken care of. He made a comment while he was apologizing for taking so long that lead me to believe that his wife and Ken have him running around in all directions getting things done. I cannot recite word for word WHAT he said, but the message was pretty clear. Jamie likes to have her needs taken care of first, for sure. He was probably pretty glad to escape the madness of everything around her for the weekend!

Lynne2 said...

oh dear, I hope Lynn will be OK dropping Liesl off....

Lolly said...

I am glad someone apologized to you!

Wish we were not going so late to Dallas. I think having a big meal at noon has made me sleepy. Sitting here yawning!

Lolly said...

I am sure it is rough to leave her. Lynn will be lonsome tonight and tomorrow! Liesl will have fun with the other doggies!

While at Laurels I saw something new. They have moved a rug to the bottom of the stairs. When Bosco now comes down the carpeted stairs and hits the hardwood floors he legs go out from under him. Poor doggy. They said the carpet is helping. Also, held a purring PC. Izzabelly, stays hidden upstairs.

Mema Jo said...

I am so glad the heat is on or is going to be on for you, Lynne. Praying for UPS
to know a good helper when they get him.

Good luck at the auction, DanaMo.

God's Speed Lynn! This is breaking her
heart I just know! It is mine! It is so good that the trainer is helping. Liesl is going to have a fun time.

Lynne2 said...

Well, we will just have to try to keep her spirits up then, won't we! I am going to concentrate and pray very hard for our Lynn this week and let everything else that isn't so important go away from my mind. She just HAS to be OK. I'm so glad she has 2 wonderful daughters, Bill, and others to help her. Oh, and US!

Lynne2 said...

one other think I want to mention....this week is an especially tough week for Sissy and Tom, and the family, as it is coming on the anniversary of the terrible, profound loss of their sons, a good friend and her child as well. Please say some extra prayers for them, too.

Lynne2 said...

well, I'm off to give Puddles a bath. Won't this be fun. She has already had a sanitary trim, as well as a face, ears, feet trim. She was NOT good for her trimming. Then I'll have to clean the bathroom so I'll be back later, gators!

NatureNut said...

Lynne2, you're getting heat!!! About time!!! Good for you and hope & pray Steve gets the UPS job!!!I'm sure this time of year is a good time for openings there. Hope it leads to fulltime. I've heard they treat their people very well.
Prayers for Lynn and Liesl. You'll be back together ASAP!!!
Prayers for Sissy & Tom. I think of them everytime the calendar goes to this month. ^j^

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Afraid I didn't make it here last night--was feeling really sleepy, and fell asleep with Emma in my lap! Have felt rather slug-like today, too, so really taking it easy. Have worked some on transcripion, though.

It has been beautiful here today--no rain, but clear and cool. Afraid there was too much mud in evidence, so no trip to the dog park for Emma (darn it!). We have been watching old black & white movies on TV.

I have a prayer request. Our oldest GD, Jay, called last night, and she has a nasty case of strep throat again. She's been to the doctor, and is on amoxicillin, but still has a lingering fever. The antibiotic hasn't had quite enough time to kick in, apparently. I think she needs to check into having her tonsils out. (Jen, her Mom, kept having strep repeat on her until she had hers out as a young adult. Healthy as a horse since then, thank God!) Bro-in-law, Joe, is doing so well after rotator cuff surgery that Sis-in-law is about to tie his shoelaces together! He says his shoulder feels FANTASTIC, so thanks for your prayers on his behalf!

Paula, have added Buddy and Debbie to my prayer list.

Lynne2, SO GLAD you have heat! Prayers for Steve's UPS job interview tomorrow!

Prayers continuing for Lynn & for Liesl, too.

Prayers for Sissy, Tom, and the whole family this week.

Well, guess I'll get back to work now, and will check back in later. Have a good evening! :o]

NatureNut said...

Wow! Just caught 2 birds in nest, then 1, now MT. Got 2 captures.

Lynne2 said...

well bathing Puddles led to bathing Daisy too. Figured might as well! Now to take a break then clean the mess up.

Andy, prayers for Jay...hope she considers the tonsils being removed.

Lynne2 said...

Glad you took it easy today too Andy!

hedgie said...

Hello again. Really crummy game.... :( I am NOT happy.

Liesl is ensconced in a house that is truly "for the dogs." I don't know where Maxine sits!!! Probably a hundred toys all over the floor, beds, blankets, an automatic watering station......doggy heaven. And a HUGE fenced yard!

hedgie said...

Stopped at the rib wagon and got some yummy baby backs!!

Oh, Lynne---so hoping that Steve gets that job!!!!!!!! Will be praying hard!!!

hedgie said...

Race is not going well, either.

Lynne, I was also thinking about Sissy and Tom.....the strength and faith they have is amazing.

NatureNut said...

Andy, prayers for Jay. We went thru the same problem with daughter. Every spring she got strep throat & missed some important school activities. Our GP would not take her tonsils out---said they were better in than out. After she got out of college, & right before her wedding, we went to specialist & he removed them. She was still under our insurance. He said they were so scarred and bad they would Never be of any use.
I don't think she's had strep since. She had allergies, too, so double whammies in spring.

Prayers also for Paula's Buddy & Debbie.

Put recent visit pics in Momsters' album.

hedgie said...

Andy, hope Jay will be okay. Criteria for tonsil removal has changed SO drastically. Hopefully, since Jay IS an adult, it won't be so stringent a decision.

OMG - so many prayer requests.

How small I feel sometimes when all I can do is pray.

It is so reassuring to see the wonderful outcome of prayer requests.

For all the mentioned prayerful needs and for all that have yet to come forward, I offer up my humble prayers.

Linda said...

Good Sunday Evening Eagle Pals!
Checking in a little earlier tonight, before I go finish preparing dinner.

Catching up is hard to do......

KAY – To answer your question last night…… I would have said yes last night, but I think singing in Church isn’t good for me because my ear got worse and has been killing me all afternoon!! Shucks…. I love singing! Guess I will tone it down for a while. Otherwise, yes, I am feeling better. I have no pain chewing with the exception of being a bit limited on how wide I can open my mouth. Thanks for asking!

Wanda – What a labor of love – cooking all those turkeys and trimmings. You are such a blessing to your church and most importantly to God! The Clothes Closet work, too. God Bless You, Wanda and Capt. Gene, too!

Lori – Add me to the type A Pepsi loving gal!! It’s all Dennis drinks, too and now it is my favorite!

Just found out that a 24 year old young lady that my son went to high school with was the one who actually broke the Sandusky story at Penn State in March. It was in the Miami Herald today that they traced this story back to her. Interesting!!

Paula – Prayers for Debbie’s husband Buddy as he battles the prostrate cancer and has surgery for the spot on his kidney. Never like hearing the “C” word.

Lynne – Happy to hear the heat is finally available. Not happy to hear you’ll have to figure out a way to purchase the expensive oil. Praying for Steve’s interview tomorrow.

Andy – Prayers for your grand-daughter Jay that her strep throat heals very soon. GOOD ON YOU for having a day to take it a bit easy. Seems like you’re not good enough to yourself!!

hedgie said...

CarolAnne---NEVER feel small when you can pray!!!! That is the most important thing we can do for each other and our families and friends!!!!

Kay said...

LYNN, glad Leisl will be at Maxine's Doggy Resort for a few days ! It's a comfort to know she's in good hands. You are, too, you know, God's hands. His hand print is all over the early diagnosis and the quick scheduling once you got back from the OBX !

My thoughts and prayers are also with LYNNE and Steve as he sees the folks at UPS, with ANDY's dear Jay and with SISSY, Tom and the whole family at this tough time of year.

Safe travel, be careful, LOLLY and Jack. They say turkey makes you drowsy ! Have fun with Michael and Zach !

Can't wait to hear what the quilt went for, DANAMO !

hedgie said...

Linda, so is the young lady a reporter??? Kudos to her!
What a story it has become!! She might end up with a Pulitzer or something!
Glad you are a little improved.....hope it's better every day.

hedgie said...

Ravens are making a comeback in their game......hope they pull it out.

NCSuzan said...

Just stopping in to make sure that everyone knows how appreciative I am for all the birthday wishes. Thank you!

Lynne2, so glad you have heat but hoping you are able to find a way to buy oil. Hope Steve gets the UPS job. Things are going to get better.

Lynn, know that I am thinking of you. Do not worry about Liesel. Sounds like she has landed in doggieland for the next little while!

Bye for now.

hedgie said...

Big news today is that 12 NFL players have tested positive for recreational drugs....including 2 Skins: Fred Davis and Trent Williams. NOT GOOD at all.....stupid guys.

Linda said...

Lynn - Her name is Sara Ganlim.

Here is the story we found about her:
Sara Ganlim broke the Penn State Story

Kay said...

LINDA, I saw the young woman who broke the story, on PBS Newshour, several days ago. Yep, she just might get the Pulitzer ! No fair for singing to cause more pain ! We're supposed to "make a joyful noise" !

Stan and I were Pepsi drinkers, too. He even had a bunch of Pepsi memoribilia (sp?), now in his son's home. I gave up soft drinks years ago, but every once in a while I get an itch for something fizzy and pick up some Diet Pepsi. Wish I had some right now. Will have to be satisfied with my Diet Tonic with Quinine. It helps a bit with Restless Leg Syndrome.

hedgie said...

Thanks, Suzan! I'm sure we'll be fine. Thanks for your sweet thoughts.
And thanks to all the kind words everyone said about me while I was gone!! My ears weren't burning, so I was surprised when I saw y'all were talking about me!!!

Kay said...

LINDA, yes, that is the young woman I saw on PBS ! Good on her ! As she says, it's not a football story, it's a crime story.

Yikes, one scandal after another in both college and professional sports. So many fail to learn from the mistakes of others and, as you say, LYNN, they do stupid things--like thinking they won't get caught !

Lori O. said...

Lots going on here today, but not the Redskins. Geez...Shanahan says they'll be making the starting QB decision week to week now!

Kay, how cute that Malcolm likes to sleep with you - bet Seth does get a little upset about that, but glad Malcolm loves his Grandmommy.

Linda, love your hometown gal hits the bigtime story. Cool for her! A hero! That story is hideous and it's about time it's seen the light, as sick as it is.

Prayers tonight for Lynn, Sissy & Tom and family, Andy's GD Jay, Buddy and Debbie.

hedgie said...

Jo---and all other Good Wife watchers....everything will be delayed again!!! Looks like by about 30 mins.

hedgie said...

Drat---Ravens lose, too. Certainly not MY sports day. :(

Lori O. said...

Was Hoda's concert tonight or was that last night? Think it's tonight. Hope it was all you wanted it to be, Hoda.

Kay said...

Yeah, I see 60 Minutes is on right now, so The Good Wife won't be delayed by much, if at all. I checked and it's a new episode. Now if I can stay awake through the whole thing. I'm so tired of missing the last 10 to 20 minutes of favorite programs !

Kay said...

Oops, you have better info than I, LYNN, but a thirty minute delay beats the way it's been for several Sundays lately !

Kay said...

LORI, HODA's Judy Collins concert is tonight. Lucky girl ! I think Seth tosses and turns too much for Malcolm and Seth's beds here and at home are twins. They tried letting him roam free at night. He slept with Seth on his extra long twin, but after a few nights he returned to his crate, on his own. He must feel sheltered and comfy in it. Too big to haul back and forth, so he's chosen to take a nice big corner of my double bed when here. I don't mind at all !

Kay said...

LORI, has Kate returned from Texas and her aunt's 100th birthday celebration ? Was her mom able to go along ?

Lori O. said...

Kay, Kate is home and had a great time at the party for her Aunt Max. Kate's Mom didn't go. Her mind isn't as great as it was a few years ago, and she doesn't like traveling anymore.
I wish FloBear would consider just taking a corner of my bed instead of half of it! :)

hedgie said...

Aha!!! I see that the Capt. joined Momster group....bet it is so he can vote!!!!! Hurray, Gene!

Mema Jo said...

Thanks for the delay time
I have been watching my opossum out on the deck. I put some breads out and he
loves that. Also put an apple out
some nights. I do bring it in when we
retire - don't want any critters out
there because I don't have a rail cam
(Deck railing)

Kay said...

JO, what fun to watch the opossum ! I could do the same as we have them and raccoons here, but I think my condo neighbors would get angry if I encouraged the critters. Not long ago a gal left her garage door open all night and a raccoon shredded the seats in her jeep. At least she claims a raccoon was the culprit.

Mema Jo said...

Lynn - I thought it was Wanda doing that 1 new member so she could correct
her email address. I didn't even give
a thought about our Captain!

Talking about Stink Bugs - I have really NOT see that many this year and
especially for last 2 weeks. I guess this summer they really did go down to
Lynne's house. Sorry......♥

hedgie said...

Kay, I was watching the Ravens game on CBS, so knew when it ended the regular line-up would begin....it ended at 7:30.

Lori, glad Kate is home and that she had a good time.

Wonder if Margy went to visit James, or if she is spending the whole day getting the new puter set up???!!!!

Mema Jo said...

Kay the opossums we get are different
sizes and they only come one at a time.
One year we had the raccoon with her
5 little ones. Of course if they see me
they scurry away. The cats can sit inside the sliding glass door and it
doesn't bother them at all.

Quilt went for $750! OMGosh! One of my grandparents bought it. The third grade project went for $2,000! I think we made some good money!

Who won the race?

stronghunter said...

Something major happened tonight just before we went to the grocery store. I heard a siren just as I walked out of the restaurant where we had dinner. As we turned into the grocery store parking lot, we saw a police car pull in.

Everything was happening near one of the entrances to the grocery store, so we went in the other one.

While we were there a policeman came in for a gallon of water and then they brought a woman in who was covered in blood and crying.

I have been on our newspaper's FB page, and someone has told me that a man was carrying a loaded gun in his pocket and it went off while he was in the car with a child, or maybe six children, according to one person.

Lots of police--crime tape and many flashing lights.

Newspaper is reporting this--
Man shoots self outside Giant in Harrison Crossing
A man shot himself about 4:40 p.m. today while in a car outside the Giant grocery store in Spotsylvania County’s Harrison Crossing shopping center. Spotsylvania authorities said the shooting appeared to be accidental. The man was taken to Mary Washington Hospital; no information was available on his condition or identity. Authorities said a child was in the car when the shooting occurred. The store remained open this evening, and a worker there said she could not discuss the incident.

DanaMo said...

Wow Shirley! That is very scary!

Mema Jo said...

WOW DanaMo $750!!! Congratulations
on all you hard and tiring work - it
sure paid off!

paula eagleholic said...

WhoA DanaMo, great job on the quilt. Sounds like the fundraiser was a big success!

Went on a little side trip tonight...DIL called about a bed for Gianni...I was going to buy them a mattress and boxspring for Christmas, but a cousin of hers was selling an antique oak twin bed, mattress and boxspring for $100. We went out to look at it and brought it home to their house and John set it up. Gianni loves it...Ajay took some pics with her cell phone, I'll try and get one from her. It has a real pretty headboard with two carved floral reliefs.

Kay said...

SHIRLEY, what a horrible incident and what a sick, sick man.

DANAMO ! Fantastic that the quilt brought in that much. Those grandparents are pretty special ! Are Monte and Adam home from the hike yet ?

Lynne2 said...

Oh Shirley, how awful! Uh, why would you enter a store with POLICE there!!

DanaMo, so great about the quilt! Good job!

Stinkbugs: haven't seen any. After aggressively hunting and killing the initial almost 2000, I think we won this war!

paula eagleholic said...

Wow Shirley, very scary, but glad it was accidental and not intentional.

hey, I'll be able to watch the Good Wife tonight!

Kay said...

PAULA, a beautiful bed for Gianni and at such a reasonable price. Love to hear about such good deals !

paula eagleholic said...

Look at the nest, cool looking.

Mema Jo said...

I didn't watch the race - perhaps Loretta did; however Kasey Kahne was
the winner

Lynne2 said...

we are watching an interesting show on Animal Planet called Skunk Whisperer, about a team of uh, shall we say, colorful wild life rescuers. Pretty interesting!

Kay said...

SHIRLEY, I goofed in calling the man sick, since it was an accident. However, I have to wonder what act of carelessness contributed to the incident. Very scary to think of the tragedy it could have been.

DanaMo said...

Thanks Jo.

Monte and Adam returned around 11:00 this morning. Great hike, great weather. Monte is moaning a bit, I keep telling him he is not as young as he used to be. Sleeping on the ground, geez. But if he didn't do it, I don't know who would and the boys do seem to enjoy it.

Mema Jo said...

Shirley - That is how you say - Too
close for comfort! The final report will
be interesting - let us know when you read it in the paper - May be it was
Intentional/Accidental ???

The Bed - that every little girl
dreams of I know that Gianni feels all
grown up

wvgal_dana said...

Andy daughter kept getting strep even though on an antibotic for months. Changed doctors took her to ears nose and throat. He said, "I'll bet when we pull them although she has been on antibotic all this time. There is still going to be a lot of infection in there. That is why she keeps getting strep back". He was right!!
After that she could go to girl scout camp or church camp wake up and not have a sore throat.

She did recently have strep first in a long time. She is working in a hospital. They don't use amoxicillin. They use Z Pack it kicks it in the butt.

Prayers for Jay to get those tonsils pulled and get over the strep.

Mema Jo said...

I hope Margy is getting her PC loaded &
up and running without any problem.

hedgie said...

DanaMo, Kasey Kahne won the race.
GREAT $$$ from the auction. Congrats!!!! WHat was the 3rd grader's project??? SUPER!!!!!

stronghunter said...

Lynn, the police were in the parking lot immediately next to the entrance we usually use. We look over the situation carefully before deciding it was safe to go into the store.

There were lots of police there. They looked to be in control of the situation and would not have let people enter the store had it been unsafe.

We did decide to go in a different entrance away from the incident, thought the closer entrance was available.

I am wondering why the man was going to the grocery store with a loaded gun in his pocket.

stronghunter said...

We looked . . .

stronghunter said...

though the closer entrance . . .

Linda said...

Shirley - Glad you weren't caught in the crossfire of that accident. That is really scary. Wonder how that happened and why the gun wasn't concealed and safety locked.

DanaMo - Congrats on your fundraiser! Sounds like it was a huge success. Also to happy everyone is home and safe tonight!

hedgie said...

Shirley, what a frightening experience. Have to wonder how someone can accidently fire a gun.....he must not know how to handle one.

Dana, tonsils are cut/cauterized out, not pulled.

Had a call from my BFF in CA. Her son is finally getting married next Sat. He has two daughters from a previous relationship that he has permanent custody of, and his fiance' has a boy close to their age. Since Eric and the girls have been living with Jan for the last two years since he moved back out there from VA, she is VERY excited that she will have her house back to herself!

hedgie said...

Lynne, I'm relieved that you no longer have the SB problem to deal with!!! Fingers crossed----maybe the whole invasion has come to an end!!!!

Kay, ROFL----if you have a bent for dandelions, just drink Dandelion Wine. Many do....I don't like ANY wine, but even if I did, don't think I would want this one because it looks like urine!!!

Good Evening, Everyone!

Well, dinner's eaten, kitchen's clean, and Emma & Kubby are both snoring in front of the TV. Thought I'd take a few minutes to say "Howdy!"

Wow, Shirley, nothing like a little excitement to liven up your grocery shopping! I must say, EVERY time I visit the Super Walmart on the other side of town, there's at least ONE police car parked in the fire lane out front.
The last time I walked out of there, I was met with 4 police cars, 1 police pickup truck with a camper shell on it, and countless uniformed officers! They are adding more and more groceries to the Walmart closer to us, so I may just start going there again. Seems to be a much less "crazy" neighborhood. Geez!

Lynne2, mighty glad to hear that you have not seen any SBs lately!
Maybe we'd better shut up about it, or they'll hear us, and launch another attack!LOL :oD BTW, you've reminded me that Emma is due for a bath, too...Maybe tomorrow!

Good Evening Eagle Pals....
No Magpie alerts needed, I see there is lots of catching up to do....put 157 miles on the car, going from Martinsburg to Frederick and then to Berkeley Springs

Had a spectacular visit with Lori, and met (or saw( 60% of the menagerie....) and yes I did get me some Bulldog slobber! ☺
Lori has a truly lovely home, so much to say about it, the trees, evergreen and big tall deciduous trees, flowers and lots of them, bird feeders, wind chimes, so many wildlife-friendly adornments about the four acres....
a beautiful home, great conversation, and so many more statements I could and will make over the course of time.
Google Directions were spot on, 50 miles....one hour and one minute, and Frederick County, MD, is very beautiful...
farms, pastures, grazing animals, horses....even saw a flock of turkeys...but the best of it all was the time spent with Lori.
Finished out the afternoon and evening with a nice visit with James the Wise Kidster...and here I sit at the Dinosaur...who will be set aside in a few days when I get things figured out....
what a generous, timely, Blessed gift I have received.
I'm going to catch up on past posts, surely won't make it back for awhile...but I Care In Advance, , am hoping that all are well and warm now...and I might catch a few of you before your bedtimes...

DanaMo, that's fantastic that your quilt brought in that much! Way to go!

Awwww, Lynn, I know just how you feel! Isn't it amazing how quiet the house is when our furry friends aren't home?!

Kay, that's pretty interesting info about dandelions! I had no idea. Will have to try to find some to put in salads and make into tea!

Ms Bookworm said...

Oh, Cool! Margy's here! I always seem to miss you somehow! What a fun visit with Lori and menagerie, and yes, what a BLESSED gift the computer is! Gosh, you have quite a bit of catching up to do tonight. There's been a lot of yacking going on! Think I'll go proofread another report, and not add any more to the blog for a bit.
Will be back to say goodnight!

Just looked at the nest, Paula. It is still cool at 9:45.

Lynne, thank goodness the stinkbugs are not bothering you anymore. You have had more than your share of things to worry about.

Lynn, thinking of you tonight. I am sure Liesel is as well.

DanaMo, how nice that you and your kiddies were able to make so much with the quilt.

LORI, you are such a generous and loving gal ! We♥You !!!!!!!

LYNN, LOL, I like white wine if not sweet, but I don't think wine that is urine yellow would have any appeal ! Ugh ! Reds give me headaches. Just as well, Diabetics should drink very little. I don't have DandyLions in my yard, but thought of LOLLY when I spotted that report. The other day she spent a lot of time on her knees and keester as she pulled those much maligned little plants from her lawn. She did pull them, by the way, rather than cauterizing or cutting them.;o)

Goodnight, LINDA. Hope you awaken to find the pain has subsided.

I think it's time for me to head for the bed. Prayers for all in need and of thanks for the good things we've received today !♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

It was during our terrible bout with strep that Susan undid a nurse at the pediatrician's office.

She kicked and screamed so much that the woman ran out of the exam room saying that she could not take it anymore.

Susan had bitten the swab in two and part of it was still in her mouth while she lay on her back screaming on the table.

I took the piece out of Susan's mouth and requested that the doctor do the testing from then on. He did, and always without a problem. He did not make her lie down and hover over her. He let her sit on my lap.

Susan's behavior was horrible, but she was about 3 years old and had gotten tired of throat cultures. She still does not like them, but who does?

What can I say about the nurse? She should not be working with small children. Maybe she needed a different profession altogether. I think a screaming three-year-old is not the worst thing you might encounter as a nurse.

There's Margy!!!! Full day, huh, gal??Gee, can't wait to see Lori's place someday! Sounds idyllic!

Andy, sounds like Emma is an equal-opportunity lapper!!! SO glad that Kibby loves her, too.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Gang,
Back again.
Margy, forgot to mention that I'm glad you got to visit with James the Wise! Great way to end the day.

Well, my eyes are rebelling at the thought of any more time at this computer, so guess I'll call it quits for now. Have said prayers for the many and varied prayer needs here, for both people and creatures. Made sure the porch light is on. Enabled both security systems. Hoping that everyone gets a really good night's sleep to give them a good start for the week. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you! :o]

hedgie said...

No, Shirley, a screaming 3 y.o. is the least of it. Try Italian women giving birth if you want to hear REALLY annoying screaming!!!!

Susan's story reminds me of the time that the Dr. had me sitting on his lap....I was probably about 4....and I threw up all over his tie!!! Mom was mortified....but the doc just laughed!

stronghunter said...

And I am turning on the night light.

Good night, Andy.

Dandelions - Pappy used to make the
wine - I never got a taste.
I remember best when he would go out in the field where the dandelions were just
coming up - with his knife he would uproot them and then cut off the root.
Grandma would make a hot vinegar bacon
sauce to pour over the leaves - oh so good. The sauce is so similar to the
wedge salads now in restaurants.

hedgie said...

I guess the sandman must have kidnapped Judie......miss her chiming in.

stronghunter said...

Somehow I think that woman did not last long, but maybe she toughened up.

I was not happy that she abandoned
Susan when she had a piece pf wood with cotton on it in her mouth while she was lying on her back screaming.

And Susan was not a bad child at all. She was just sick and didn't like someone standing over her and poking something into her mouth.

Margy, glad you got to see James the Wise today....and Lori's place sounds really neat! Hope you get the computer going soon!

hedgie said...

Goodnight, Andy! Sweet dreams. We love you, too!!!! Want to be my eyes at a wedding Sat.???!!!

Yes, Margy, so glad you got to see James today.

Pulling a Margy here--

Yes, were is Judie? I seem to have missed seeing her posts the last few days. She must be grading papers again. :o]

Lynn, yes, Emma is indeed an equal-opportunity lap sitter! She has been known to ricochet back and forth from Kubby's lap to mine, and back again!

NatureNut said...

Margy, you're back! What a wonderful adventure with gracious Lori! Of our 2 old 'puters, one is dead as a doornail and the other is probably slower than the old Dinosaur- wouldn't have been any help to you. In fact it has 2 stuffed dinosaurs velcroed to the top!
DanaMo, congrats on your quilt!!!I thought it was gorgeous.

Gotta shut er down & do the do for appt. in AM.

Prayers for all the special people mentioned today ... and for the needs of us all!

LOL, Shirley.....many ethnic woem are very stoical and never make a sound---part of their culture. Italians apparently have been taught or told to make LOTS of noise! It's alarming!! I heard one doctor tell one to shut up and put the energy coming from her mouth into pushing. And it was an Indian Dr.!!!

stronghunter said...

Funny, Lynn.

hedgie said...

Moon is beautiful again tonight.

I have a luncheon to go to tomorrow for an old pal, so guess I better call it a day. Think I'll record the news and catch it after my bath. Gotta get out of these clothes!!!

I'll "see" you all in the morning. Prayers for all our many needs. Rest well, dear friends.

Guess everyone is going to bed. Had a good time in Dallas. We ordered some pizza and stayed home to eat. I bathed Zach and got him ready for bed. I then read him two books. He wanted three but told him two was enough. So, he proceeded to recite the third book that he wanted. I told him good night, I love him and left the room, all the time he was reciting The Cat in the Hat. So funny! Guess he recited the book to himself and fell asleep.
We never heard another peep.

Costume Lady said...

Jayden just got his Big Boy bed. I'm sure he must love it...in and out whenever he pleases:) Jayden will be 2 yrs. old on Thanksgiving day and he and his parents will be spending the day with all of us at GG's...YEA!

Anxious to see if there was enough left-overs from the church Thanksgiving dinner today, to feed our guests at Soup Kitchen Tuesday. Gene and I couldn't stay long enough to see the dinner through to the end. We had to go and be with GG. She's feeling a little week from throwing up so much, but did eat a good lunch.

Good Night everyone, prayers for all of us and hope we all sleep well♥

Lolly said...

I scanned the blog quickly. Just do not think I can bring myself to eat dandelions. Think I will stick with broccoli. lol I have plenty though way down front!
Come over and help yourself. I will even pay you to dig and take them. lol

I am heading to the shower and then to bed. I think Jack is ready to head that way. But, I can not head to bed without saying good night to my eagle buddies!!

Good night and sweet dreams!

Lori O. said...

I had a dandelion salad once and it was pretty good. I've read that dandelions are a favorite of bunnies!

WTG Danamo on the quilt! You kicked buns!!!

Lynn, no breakmess to clean up from Leisl this morning, but I'm sure you will call and see how she is doing in her doggy paradise. I should have sent Margy home with a new tug for Leisl. Hey, did they tell you how big your incision will be? The smaller the better, faster for healing, huh?

Hoda said...

I have not read the blog yet...I just came in. JUDY COLLINS WAS MAGNIFICENT. She still has her voice her charm and her sense of humour. She sang from 8:30 till 10:45 with three standing ovations.Songs from the 60's she even made jokes about Nelson and the Theatre crowd being a throw back to that era.Yet the crowd had groups from all age groups, the 20 somethings and the 80 somethings. We sang wtih her and we laughed with her...She has a lot of class...

The AFRICAN DINNER was a great success. I left before I found out how much we made. All of our tickets were sold well in advance and we had silent auctions and many arts and crafts to sell.
The food was delicious if I may say so myself....I cooked from 1:00to 5:30 when we started to dish out the food. There was plenty and we were to sell the left overs...I enjoyed very much how everyone worked together to produce an excellent meal. There were ten of us in thew kitchen and we worked very well together...we even stopped for tea when things looked under control...The hall decorating committee did an excellent job and it looked African with all the wall hangings and the table clothes and the statues and such...People were happy and they were very pleased to be there...I mingled after desert and before the concert and it was all GRAND simply GRAND...I know much gratitude for the opportunities the day offered me...Morning yoga was also a good experience for me. Also my favourite yogurt was on sale in the Kootenay co-op where I go for my groceries.I bought more than I would eat for the week and felt very blessed for the abundance...

I hope everyone here had a good day also...I hope it was OK with LIESL and LYNN for her to go to the trainers tonight and I am sure you two will be very happy to see each other again.

I will go read back now...

Lori O. said...

Time to get ready...see the Early Birds later...guess that makes me an Early, Early Bird. :)

Prayers for Lynn, GG, Tom and Sissy and family, Jay, Buddy & Debbie.

I wished you all had been with me at the JUDY COLLINS concert LYNN and KAY...you would have enjoyed it just like I did.

LYNNE 2 has heat and Stee is going for an interview with UPS...PRAYERS and GRATITUDE.

SISSY and family in my prayers also...God Bless you all those here and those who already went to their HEAVENLY HOME.

Not a good sign....I am WIDE AWAKE...too exciting a day to be able to sleep. Yet I can not pull another all nighter I just did that night before last...when people get old in my family we tend to need less sleep...My Great Ancient Uncle could get away with two hours of sleep for nights on end...does this run in families I wonder...

Too many people here like PEPSI. I most certainly hope NO ONE took offence to my saying French Canadian s get called Pepsi because they drink the most Pepsi than any other group in North America...Such pieces of trivia used to be the way I kept the grade nine students interested to listen to points on French culture...what a school teacher have to do to earn her living...LOL...Any way NO OFFENCE intended to anyone who likes Pepsi...

Kay said...

HODA, you've turned away from the computer to meditate, but later you'll find e-mail waiting. The New York Times on line has a book review of Judy Collin's biography and I've sent it to you. What a story she has to tell and sell !☺ I, too, wish LYNN and I had been right there with you last night. I wish for Samantha's "Bewitched" powers so that the wiggle of my nose would transport me to things like the concert, or LORI's house when MARGY was there, or to LYNN's side so I could see her through this week ! Oh, well, maybe I can be a Genie in my next life.

Lori O. said...

Greatest morning to you KAY!

Guess you fell asleep early last night, or you just can't sleep?

Kay said...

How grand it is to read so much happy news !

LYNNE and Steve all snuggled up in a warm house, at last.

MARGY, home with a "new" puter after a wonderful visit with gLORI.

WANDA, checking in after a delicious meal with the church group and a visit with GG.

HODA too excited to sleep after the Judy Collins concert and reporting a hightly successful fund raiser for a good cause.

LOLLY telling us about a happy evening with son and grandson. Bath and story time with Zach ! Now that's special !

DANAMO, justifiably proud of her beautiful quilt and the funds it raised for her school.

JO and LYNN, both looking forward to lunching with friends today.

It's grand that we can share our ailments, our woes, sad news, etc., but oh so nice to revel in our good and happy news with each other, too ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Kay said...

M☺rning gLORI ! I just can't sleep ! HODA talked about her family not needing as much sleep as they get older. I've read that is the case for all of us and guess I'm just at that age! I did manage to stay awake for all of The Good Wife and had no nap(s) yesterday, so can't blame this wakefulness on that. Anyway, it's good to be up to visit with you. Got to crank up 97.1 now and turn the coffed pot on. {{{{{LORI}}}}}

Lori O. said...

Needing less sleep = getting more life done. YEAH!

Kay said...

Coffee, I mean. Oh, I see you've already opened the cafe for us Early Birds---thank you !

DanaMo said...

I'm here! Good morning. I tried to stay in bed a little longer but once I was awake there was no use!

Kay said...

Love your avatar ! Whenever I see your smiling face it puts a smile on my mug !

Kay said...

Hey there, DANA ! I'll bet there are three dogs who are happy you couldn't roll over for more z's !

Have you made those cookies for Andrew yet ?

DanaMo said...

Haven't started the cookies. I'm thinking I will start them this afternoon. I need to get more eggs and I like to start with a fresh bag of flour and I didn't get those two things. Of course I really hadn't planned on making them so soon, but after seeing the look on his face, I have to!

Monte is off to OR this week. A new place for him, he's never traveled there before.

Kay said...

Monte will see some lovely sights there, I'm sure. Oregon, Washington, North Dakota and Alaska are the only States I've missed and I'm sure they are among the most beautiful in the Union. Doesn't look like I'll ever get there now. Not being negative, just realistic.

DanaMo said...

WEll I hope at some point I will get to see more than I've seen so far. I really want to travel with Monte after the kids are out of the house. I love RV'ing and getting to go to all the beautiful places around the States. I have never had much of a desire to travel outside of our country.

Lori O. said...

Kay, I'd go to Alaska with you, but I fear being eaten alive by mosquitoes!

Kay said...

I was blessed with parents who, though not affluent, were avid travelers. We did tent camping at National Parks all over the country in the late 40's and 50's. My first husband's family had that same emphasis, so it was a natural thing to travel widely with our kids--though we went a little more modern, staying in lodges and cabins at the parks. Outside the country experiences have been in Mexico, Canada and Europe. There's a big wide wonderful world out there, DANA and you've plenty of time to see a lot it ! Hope you do !

Kay said...

LOL, LORI ! They are wishing they had some squeeters now. Did you see the way Alaska was slammed with a massive snowstorm a couple of days ago ? I'm not a "cruise" person, but one up the Pacific coast to our 49th State would be nice ! Let's go ! A MOMSTER trip to see the large Eagle population up there ? Oh, yeah !!!!

Kay said...

70 degrees for you today, 64 expected here ! Can you believe it--11 days before Thanksgiving ? It would be wonderful good if this weather stuck around for the rest of the month. I'd love to go to Jersey without my heaviest coat, scarves, gloves....

Kay said...

LORI, my sometimes annoying inquiring mind wonders, what does Loo think of your passion for Eagles and this blog ? What does he do when he has some spare moments while broadcasting ?

Kay said...

Oh, yeh, and who wrote the book of love ?

Lori O. said...

lol Kay!

Lori O. said...

I think Loo thinks I'm a nature geek. Don't know what he does, but I have more spare time than he does.

DanaMo said...

We have been many places with the kids in the camper, but so many more to go and now the kids are heading out of the house. We were going to RV it across the country to CA this summer, but found we just didn't have the time.

Alaska is not high on my list, but I would go if the opportunity came up. Mom and Dad cruised in Alaska. I really want to go to Maine and the Gulf Coast. Maybe this year for the Gulf.

Yes Lori what do you and Lou talk about while the songs are playing? Is this Friday when you start with the Christmas music?

Lori O. said...

I love Kay's idea of the Alaskan cruise to see all the eagles. That's the big reason I like to watch Deadliest Catch - just to see the eagles. Or we could fly there and rent a motorhome(s) and do our own tour.

Lori O. said...

Yep, Christmas music starts on air this Friday at 8AM...it's already streaming on the web site...Oh, I'll be off Friday the 18th, then Wed - Friday for Thanksgiving!

DanaMo said...

Unfortunately, I will have to leave the reporting to you two wonderful ladies this morning. Gotta go start getting ready for the day. I will keep peeking in, hope it's a long visit!

Kay said...

Now at rail 11 spot

Kay said...

Yes, that's her tail !

Lori O. said...

Who do you think it is, Kay?

Kay said...

Come on REM, get you tail in here, too !

Lori O. said...

WAITING FOR A TURNAROUND SO WE CAN SEE THE NECK FEATHERS.

Kay said...

LORI, it's Belle, he doesn't have that pretty criss cross of black feathers on the white tail.

Kay said...

And there he is ! Two eagles in nest !

Kay said...

Both decide to get busy, she at rail about 4 spot and he in nest cup.

Kay said...

And they both change by the time I get the thing refreshed. It's really hard to keep up with the still cam.

Kay said...

Poof one, can't tell at this point which one is still in nest, think it's REM

Kay said...

No color, USA or colour, Canada, yet. Sunlight washes out any chance of seeing tell tale black spots on his head.

Lori O. said...

DOESN'T LOOK LIKE BELLE'S NECK FEATHERS SO PROBABLY THE MALE.

Kay said...

Looks like his feet to me.

Kay said...

COLOR arrives !

Lori O. said...

Lori O. said...

Lori O. said...

Sorry, I wasn't much help, Kay. :(

Kay said...

This visit from 6:22 to 6:50

Kay said...

I understand, LORI ! Guess DANA's getting AnneMarie and Adam outta bed and/or getting set for her work day. She did a bang up job of reporting the 1st visit of the day yesterday, but harder to do on weekdays.

Kay said...

Seems strange not to have JUDYE lurking and then jumping in as soon as an eagle lands. Wish I could take pictures like she does, but no can do. There must be something radically wrong with her puter and I'm sure she's quite agitated over it. :(
