Shirley, why do you limit the ice cubes? I was told that it's a great calorie-free treat for dogs!

Paula, glad you made it home. Long trip, huh? Hope the car didn't overheat!

Hoda said...

Wanda the menu sounds delicious. Good for you for the variety and for the balanced diet. I agree with everyone you must look after yourself and not push on when in pain.

Margy I think it is supposed to land in Florida unless the crosswinds are so strong...I will stay up to watch it. 2:35 AM EDT is only 11:35 PDT and while it is late for me it is not impossible to do...They did well with their interviews to the TV networks today. Amazing to be able to watch them.

Loweeda....I tried to leave a comment on your tribute but was not successful.

You said not to be sad, but I still got tears in my eyes. Great tribute!!♥

hedgie said...

Wanda, your grandsons and their friends will surely help Gene get that unit installed!

I know that GG is stubborn...but there comes a time when you have to be stubborn, too! You may just have to put your foot down!!!! Remember, you are basically the parent now. Can't have GG in danger because she is set in her ways!

Weee a split!

How is everyone?

I am calling the doctor Wednesday and see about getting the ball rolling on surgery. Just want to get this meal out of the way first. We do have help with the Soup Kitchen, but most of the workers have jobs and come in after work, in time to help serve and wash dishes, etc.
I love to prepare meals for our homeless and hungry friends...when they leave and tell me they enjoyed the meal, it makes my heart sing:)

paula eagleholic said...

Trip was an extra hour, it was slow for a period of time before the bridge, but at least it was moving!

How many chicks at BWO?

We have one or two at the nest at the beach!

Costume Lady said...

Yes, Lynn, we are thinking of getting Brandon and Q to come and help with some heavy work, in addition to the A/C. If we can drag them away from Denise's pool;)

Costume Lady said...

I believe there are 3, now, Paula:)

Costume Lady said...

Hmmmm, wonder if fox kits would like green beans? Have to give it a try. We've been putting out Puppy Chow. We can tell that they are eating it in the cams photos.

I have posted the last video (5-28-11 on Wild and Wonderful if you don't have facebook:)
Kit Carson & Kit Kat are in a lot of frames, this time...so cute!

heading for bed....good night and prayers for all!

Scary day tomorrow...our last with health insurance.......YIKES!

Lynne2 said...

Wanda, please tell GG...all of the babies fledged successfully! That was days ago, forgot to post!

hoping for a second clutch now in a few weeks!

Lynne2 said...

yes, and then there is the strange glowing light too!

OK, really leaving....work tomorrow! Love you guys, have a good night and I hope those with AC problems are able to get at least some sleep comfortably tonight.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks, Wanda, for the BWO info.

Hope the Dr can get the ball rolling for you and your knee.

hedgie said...

Margy, how was your afternoon/even-ing? Hope you had a grand time!

Going to hit the hay in a few.....sitting on a riding mower isn't hard work....but being out in the heat has made me quite tired. I, too, need to take the flannel sheets off....went from the fleece to the flannel.....of course, as long as the A/C is on----sounds like it will be needed most nights this week!---it's not bad, but without the air, way too warm!!
Prayers for all aches, pain, sorrows and needs. Love you all!

paula eagleholic said...

I closed up my house since I didn't have the AC's in...got all the windows open and fans running. I was going to put the AC's in last Thursday night, but it was raining. Will get them in tomorrow, I know Nugz has been hot.

I went out in the water with him today, then took him up to the house and rinsed him off with the hose, water was nice and cold.
Dried him off some, but left some wet fur so he would be cool for awhile. He certainly enjoyed the AC on the ride home!

hedgie said...

P.S. Wanda.....if you want more puppy food, I'll have some after Weds. evening. Vet said to switch Liesl to adult....just opened a new bag of puppy food Sat. AM! I will get the adult food Weds. and then get the puppy food to you Fri. if you will be home that morning!

magpie said...

Thanks JO for the birthdays and anniversaries list, you are so good to us on this....
One more day to add pictures for the May E-M album...will we have cams back in time ??
afraid it is doubtful...well there's June coming up !

magpie said...

Wanda
we shall arrive at Denise's pool with our Eagle Canes and our Work Orders for the boys ☺
really, let me know, I can scare up some fellows to help, I think I still have some "pull" somewhere around here in this county LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Did anyone watch the WE banding today?

magpie said...

Day with James was great...cemetery ceremony completed, I got a new picture for NEXT year's Memorial Day.
We had a bottle of holy water, and we splashed some on our flags, and to be honest with you, on ourselves also
Took many bottles of cold water with us, squirt bottles and wet washcloths, it was SO hot; James likes to stroll through the cemetery and is fascinated with names on the headstones, and dates of birth and death, wants to know how old people are when they died...then we returned here for water balloons and squirt guns, we were totally soaked, the only way to handle the heat and sun while outdoors

magpie said...

Yes, some did Paula...there were some posts mid-afternoon about it, and maybe might be a link to it frm JudyE? maybe?
sorry for scant information but I know there are posts...
seems like it went okay...

magpie said...

Loons have not hatched yet, (unless they did when I had to shut down and reset in last 30 mins)
nor have Isla and Y7 had a hatch
but they are eating and flying often and sharing incubation duties

magpie said...

Hoda:
I had just punched up your link to 50 Questions...last night when I realized I needed to check in on ISS and Endeavor...so had to back out of it...I will return to that...know it is something I want to see...

Lolly said...

I agree with you on that Margy. Yesterday when we were sitting out and the boys were playing on the slip and slide, the adults sat with their feet in the water.

magpie said...

or maybe it was 50 People One Question, sorry, but I know what I am looking for

Lolly said...

Have a busy day tomorrow. Going to work in the yard and getting ready for company. Rodney (friend)will be flying in Wed. from Virginia. He is coming for our party Friday. We visited with him and his wife last Fall after open house. Chee could not come as she has a lot of showings right now with her paintings.

Anyway, heading to the shower and then to bed.

Night all! Sweet dreams!

magpie said...

What?? You didn't do the Slip and Slide with them Lolly ? LOL
yeah, water is the answer in more ways than one.
I used to put my pillowcases in the freezer when I had no A/C years ago...the coolness lasted all of about, 25 seconds

Sounds like you had a good week-end and a fun dinner coming up on Friday

magpie said...

I am seriously addicted to ISS and especially when there is a Shuttle flying with it...
so I WILL check things out at 3:38 a.m. hereabouts, they should be High and Bright, then straight back to bed for me! ...Thanks, Paula... I owe my affection for these views to YOU ! From July 2008 ! ☺

I do work Tuesday so I better go find the pillows NOW !

Prayers for Wellness, Peace, Comfort, Safety, and Serenity
and Many Prayers of Gratitude, for gifts given, and received
God Bless This Nest, and
God Bless Us, Every One

xoxo ♥

paula eagleholic said...

LOL Margy, at first I read that as you put your pillows in the freezer!

Lolly, sounds like it's going to be quite the shindig!

Hoda, so nice to finally SEE you!

I'll have to look for Hoda's link later.

Margy, thanks for the WE and loon info! Sounds like a nice day with James!

Lynn, glad Liesl likes the green beans...something I have been meaning to add to Nugz's current menu.

Well folks, think I am finally cooled down and relaxed enough to try and hit the hay...will catch ya'll in the morning.

(((Hugs to all♥)))

Hoda said...

margy, The fifty people one question posting was a light presentation of how people are about their lives really...I have it still so if you did not want to search for it I can send it to you as an email...it was a light post.
I am back watching NASA TV and I can not get over how beautiful the planet is and how precise they all are about the instruments and the practice to return safely...God's Speed to them all.

Hi, Everyone!
Got Hubby and Emma off to bed a while ago, and just now got sort of caught up on the blog.

So sorry to hear of A/C trouble for so many folks! Hope that it either cools down right away, or that the A/Cs get repaired!

Had a restful and thoughtful Memorial Day here. Want to thank all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we could be free. Many heartfelt thanks, too, to those in service to our country in the armed forces, and their families. Thank you to our Veterans, too! Was thinking today of the time we visited Washington, D.C., and went to Arlington. Hard to describe the feeling we had while there. It is definitely hallowed ground--feels like entering a huge cathedral. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!

Special prayers tonight for Lynne2 and Steve. Are you able to Cobra your insurance? God bless you both, and keep you super healthy! Prayers continue that Steve will be able to find another, better job!

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, think I'm going to call it a night. Prayers for everyone, and every creature. Checking to make sure we have a porch light. Enabling the eye-scanner security, and WV Dana's thumbprint-scanner security. Sleep well, everyone, and I will talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight! Love each and every one of you! :o]

***********************************Early Birders - check out the
Loon cam - Larry said he saw pips
in both eggs yesterday evening -
They may have hatched.. Look at her wings - that is a good clue that maybe the chick(s) may be
under them.

Lori O. said...

Good (back to work) morning!

SHIRLEY how many days until retirement? Shouldn't be long now!

Apparently, the Camera Fairy took the weekend off as both the still and live cams are not working.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN AT LEAST ONE OF THE CAMS WILL BE BACK ON?

HODA - loved seeing your picture! One does change a bit in 35 years, huh?

LYNN - glad to hear Leisl is loving her green bean diet - the weight should be off in no time.

LYNNE - Are you and Steve able to get COBRA insurance? Or will you chance it and go without. Did that a few times when I was young, but pretty nerve wracking! I hope your back is feeling better.

GLO - I heard you went to the Josh Groban concert. What a wonderful man he is. He was in studio with us a few years ago and I was mesmerized watching him sing. He's very well grounded and kind.

JUDIE - I hope your air co is back!
We have another Heat Advisory today, and bad air quality.

WANDA - thank God for people like you and the Captain who care for the less fortunate. I love that you just love doing it! BUT, don't forget to call the doc about your knee tomorrow.

LOLLY - sounds like a great menu you have in store for the week! I wish Texas wasn't so far away or I'd invite myself down for your party on Friday. :)

I got a lot of bird pics over the weekend with my new camera setup! Got a pic of a White Breasted Nut Hatch I hadn't seen before.

KAYE, MARGY, JUDYE, DANA MO, MEGAN I hope to "see" you all at the SSCC later on. Got some new Caribou Medium Roast Coffee - my favorite - can't wait to share it with you.

OKay, off to begin the second part of my life today! LOL!
Thank you all again for making it such a great B-day weekend!

Kay said...

Good Morning Early Birds !

Hmmmm Caribou Medium Roast Coffee today, mmmmmmmmmgood !

gLORI, I think Paula has asked Steve that question about the cams, but hasn't received a reply. I guess it will take someone going up there and replacing the cable the ants chewed through and that probably takes some long range planning.

LORETTA, what a lovely tribute to dear lost friends of the Animal Kingdom !

HODA, thanks for letting us see your lovely face and beautiful braids via avatar !

MARGY, reading about the day with James brought a big smile to my face. Precious moments !

PAULA, several of us watched the WE banding yesterday afternoon. See posts of 2:48-5:49, a rather lenghty procedure.

Green beans and carrots for dogs ! Interesting. Malcome watches for stray ice cubes and loves to crunch on them. I figure it helps clean his teeth and it's only water, so what could be wrong with it ?

Kay said...

MARGY, our Goshawks are looking good today. The wind is gone. The fluffy white chicks are beginning to sprout their dark pin feathers big time.

Lori O. said...

Great Morning KAY!

You are up bright & early - (we call it dark and early on this shift)!

Kay said...

Yes, "dark and early", gLORI ! Too much rest yesterday, but it puts me back on schedule. I've said I'd like to change my habits, sleeping later. Scratch that thought. I value time spent with you and other Early Birds too much. Can't promise I won't sleep in occasionally, however. ☺

Kay said...

WANDA, Lori said:

"WANDA - thank God for people like you and the Captain who care for the less fortunate. I love that you just love doing it! BUT, don't forget to call the doc about your knee tomorrow."

I second her emotion ! Hope you and GG both made it through the night without too much pain.

Kay said...

LORI, I hope you'll put some of those pics on your blog ! A White Breasted Nut Hatch ! I thought I saw one the other day, but it turned out to be a neighbor sunbathing on her patio.

Kay said...

JO, Mama Loon is sitting tight so far this morning--she's hiding her secrets under her pretty bod.

Same situation with Isla, I never seem to tune in at the right time to see her eggs.

The Finnish osprey nests seem to be in frozen mode.

Our dear NBG eaglets are stretching and wingersizing this morning---lookin' good.

Lori O. said...

OMG KAY - ROtFLMBO! So, your neighbor needs a tan and is a bit on the kooky side?

Lori O. said...

KAY - definitely agree - would rather spend time with you and the Early Birds WATCHING THE NEST than sleep; but, you make sure you get all the rest you need.

Kay said...

Yep, she's a nut hatch for sure !

Kay said...

Not to worry, Soul Sister, I can always catch a nap or two later in the day. "They" say we need less sleep as we get older, as in really old, like me. I believe it, but miss getting really deep, dream producing sleep.

Hope to see BWO's three today

magpie said...

got up for the ISS Flyover expecting to see TWO objects sail across the sky, but saw only one...watched for a few minutes more just in case...
so I guess Endeavor is out of the view
it was still a nice flyover but I was hoping to see the two together one more time

Hoda thank you for reposting Fifty People, One Question, have watched it, very touching, and beautiful. I did cry...what beautiful folks were on there

floralgirl said...

Hey Lori:) hope your trip was good
We are all fine, Margy, just very busy.
The heat is exhausting, this is going to be a very long day.

Kay said...

MARGY, finally, a good look at those beautiful loon eggs, no pips can I see. Thanks for the BWE link ! Lynn and I both began to sing ♫♫Regrets, I've had a few..♪♪♫ just like Ol' Blue Eyes when we watched Hoda's 50 People.

LORI, yes, our weather matches yours, exactly, bad air advisory and all. Julie has a pool that is usually open by this time, but this year painters are giving it a new coat. That will happen today and then it will have to dry thoroughly before it can be filled. This heat wave is about one month early. :(

magpie said...

Okay Megan...

Kay said...

Pulling a MARGY here.

LORI, how sweet of you to give folks a reminder about the elderly and the danger of weather extremes. I am the oldest person in my condo community, however, and hope my young neighbors won't start knockin' on my door ! I love this distinctive status and living around people of all ages rather than down the street in the retirement village ! I do have one neighbor, Jonathan, 50ish, who checks to see if I need anything as he heads for the store when there is snow or ice. Nice ! For the most part my neighbors are absolutely "LOVERLY" !

Lori O. said...

OK, did you hear that everyone - DO NOT KNOCK ON KAY'S DOOR - SHE IS FINE. I always say it's when people stop knocking and caring about you that you should worry! LOL. I may drive to Columbus today just to bug you! :o)

Lori O. said...

KAY - how long would it take to drive from Frederick to Columbus? ♥

Lynne2 said...

Good Morning....and Megan, water in, water on....not that you don't know how to stay hydrated and cool, but I have to say it!

Good to check on the elderly. They often don't have good temperature control with their aged bodies.

Steve is here this morning, he wants the know what the heck we have to talk about so early in the morning......LOL! He says HI!

KAY...OMG......ROFLMAOAO (rolling on floor laughing my abs of aluminum off). My what you saw was not a white breasted nuthatcher, but rather a white boobied nut job!!!

Lynne2 said...

COBRA....well, that just allows us to keep the current insurance. But we'd have to pay the WHOLE premium monthly which is way out of the budget. There is a hold up with unemployment as well. At one time, the Gov. gave the employer a credit for like 70% of the premium and then the former employee paid 30...something like that. But I have to check and see if that is still on the table.

Lori O. said...

Lynne - what kind of work do Steve do? What type of work is he looking for?

What are his talents? Just thinking there could be at least a few days work at the Olivieri home.

Lori O. said...

sorry --- What kind of work DOES Steve do?

Lynne2 said...

Lori, we are grunt laborors! He's been in the auto parts and/or glass forever. Neither of us has any special talents, really.

OK, I will email you...I have to go get my "fat" pictures taken before I leave for work, and do my measurements. Today I start my better eating program.

MARGY!!! I saw some chickory this weekend too!!!!!!

Have a good day everyone! I'll check in from work if I can! Otherwise....I'll see you tonight!

Lori O. said...

Lynne - Please email me, or I'll tell you what's in need of help and you can review that.

And, LYNNE, HAPPY 1st DAY of the NEW WAY TO EAT for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

We're with you girl! I'm still dieting. I've lost 10 pounds so far. 20 more to go!

Lynne2 said...

awesome Lori! We can support each other!

Fat pictures have been taken. Well, I must say, it's one thing to look in the mirror, a whole OTHER shock to see pictures......UGH!

Heading to work, BBL!

LORI, it's about 6 hours from my place to Shepherstown. Start now and you can be here by about 4 this afternoon ! ☺

Kay said...

LORI and LYNNE, good on you for the weight loss program ! It's soooo hard, but you'll feel better and live longer ! Sending you my best wishes and moral support ! I'm sure LOLLY is pleased to hear she has company as she now works at maintaining her impressive weight loss ! She gives out great dieting and exercise tips !!!!

Lolly said...

Good morning! You all are too witty and alert for me this morning. LOL

Lynne, good luck with the new diet. You can do it! Yea, for you Lori! I am feeling good. I am off the diet, but I am maintaining quite well. It will be a challenge this week with company, but I am going to try! Brought chips into the house for Friday. THAT is a big NO NO! I find weighing every day helps. We are off of our walking this week, but will get back to it next week.

Lolly said...

The color at the Loon cam is so pretty! Is that a dandelion blooming on the left?

Kay said...

LOLLY, were your ears burning ? I was talkin' about you just as you were writing with your support of our dieters. You are an inspiration !

Lolly said...

My son in law, Joey is always trying to diet but not successful. He does not have portion control!!! However, he is now on a diet with the doctors help and he is weighing his meat portions. Yea! He has lost 10 pounds. He has terrible habits, mostly learned at the football training table!

Lolly said...

I saw that, Kay! Thought it funny that we were typing at the same time and it just "sorta"...fit together! LOL

Lolly said...

(((Hugs))) to you, Kay!

Lolly said...

It just really tickles me that I went down a size when I dieted two years ago, but now I am down two sizes. I really need some new clothes! Jack calls me "Baggy Britches".

Judie said...

Good morning!

I survived a long hot night. AC person coming sometime this afternoon. We suspect the unit is headed for the secret burial place -- 20 years old.

My solution is to go get my "do" did in an air conditioned salon. Should be there for a week or two.

Did some speed reading. Will try to catch up later. Wishing everyone a lovely morning.

Kay said...

LOLLY thanks for the hugs !!!!!

I need to shower, get dressed....

Seth has a couple of finals this morning, but will be out at 1:15, so I'm picking him up. We'll go to the library, drop off my recycling stuff at bins in the adjacent park and then I'll take him home. After that I'll retreat to my cool home and stay in out of the afternoon heat. Julie works til' 1:30 so his sked didn't quite fit with hers. He only has 2 more days of school, all testing and she has about another week of teaching left in the quarter. Then summer fun can really begin ! BBL

Hi, Granny Lynne! Good to see you---literally AND figuratively----love your avatar pic!!! I don't think any place here in the mid-Atlantic is spared from this oppressive heat or bugs!!

You dieting gals are doing great!!! Keep up the good efforts!!

Judie....hope the salon feeds you and lets you bring a mattress!!!!
