I want to see DWTS, but I don't think I will make it tonight. We had too much drama here last night with two storm alarms. The first one got Kathryn up, and the second one got me up. And then there was the storm.
And I musn't forget the cat alarm. Kathryn was downstairs; her door was open and Lucky meowed which caused George to hiss. I grabbed George and he growled, so I yelled for Kathryn before there was a cat fight (literally), which woke up Hunter. Yikes. What a night.
We went shopping for carpet and brought samples home. Think we have found some. Actually found the same carpet at two different places and the second place knew we were looking at another store and gave us a fantastic price. Wahoo! May get the bedroom carpeted too!
Robyn, so glad all went well today for Tori. I think having her best friend go today was a genious idea. Have you had ice cream and malts ready to eat?

There won't be any audio at the Sauces nest...they have had a cam on the nest for recording purposes only, and didn't have audio on it. They are working on the color adjustments

Diann - PA Nana, I read where you said your hips really hurt. Are you on a Statin drug from cholestarol? I just went to the doc last week because all my joints were so sore. Can be a Statin side effeect. Now 5 days without them and I feel 1000x better!

We are suppose to be in the low 60's today and then back up to 70's by next Monday. I am so ready for warmer temps. Last year we opened our pool on April 13 and one of my kids got in! It must have been a warmer spring last year.
Truder was on the nest for almost an hour yesterday evening, did you catch it or see pics ? According to some who check out the OD chat, there are those who still claim this is Lib with a wound. However, Truder sat at the 6 o'clock position most of that time and the cam picked up his head well. It's mottled with black feathers all over the top. No resemblance to a wound and no changes as would occur with a wound. What can those naysayers be thinking ?

Hedgie-Lynn as far as the sound. If you remember last year. We were so excited when we heard shots. We were called NCTC to find out "why so close to the nest". It really wasn't as close to the nest as we thought. The cam just picked up the sound. So this year while they do training that is loud. They have the sound turned off until that loud training is over. Truthfully we were calling them and emailng them last year about the "LOUD SHOTS" we would hear.
I have a question which is not related to eagles or webcams. Say if one's mother or father is put into a nursing home by their doctor. If the mother or father runs out of money. Do they come after the mother or fathers adult children for the money?
Norfolk Daddy has been painted and is waiting to go into the kiln. Unfortunately, he'll have to wait a while for that because the instructor decided do the ones that have been fired once already, because they are probably gifts for Passover for people! I feel like a little kid who is so disappointed!
I did take a pic of him in case something happens to him in the kiln! I'm almost positive he has no air bubbles but sometmes someone elses work can explode in there and ruin the work next to it!
Dana, the answer to your question is complicated and iffy.....it depends on the state in some cases, and the financial circumstances of the adult children. If the parent meets the qualifications, they must go on Medicaid to start with. You need to talk to an elder-care advisor in WV for details.
GEULA, don't know if you had a chance to read my comment and thanks to you about the on-going danger in your part of the world. My Pastor is home, safe and sound and dispite hearing bombs and gunfire, had a wonderful experience in the Holyland.

The answer to your question, DANA, is, NO. If the parent owns their own home, that will be sold and monies given to the nursing home. Should say, that is my understanding of the situation.
Sorry, Lynn...didn't mean to step on your toes!:) Seems like, when my dad was in the Nursing Home, medicare paid for the first 6 months and then, Mom had to start paying out of pocket. Was $5000 then (10 years ago), probably $6 or $7000, now.

Wanda, they say it costs over $50,000 a year for nursing home care now.......and most elderly people are never going to have that kind of savings or proceeds from a home sale. Rules vary by state but there are lots of variants. I was just checking this out over the weekend.

If a parent signs their house and anything of value to the child and 5 years have passed, then if a Nursing Home is needed, the home cannot be used to pay the Nursing Home bills...this was the law a number of years ago, don't know about now. Seems the government is changing everything to it's own advantage, now. It's a scry situation, getting old!

Mainly, I was and am not a VOLUNTEER at NCTC and as our Pastor said, "It will be a simple meal, with simple food served in a simple manner", Our food is not SIMPLE, we have found a way to make SPECIAL meals from very little money. Diann - PA Nana, I read where you said your hips really hurt. Are you on a Statin drug from cholestarol? I just went to the doc last week because all my joints were so sore. Can be a Statin side effeect. Now 5 days without them and I feel 1000x better!
I hope it warms up fast. Kindergarten has a field trip today and it's all outside, even lunch. We are going to Renfrew Park in Waynesboro PA for Wake Up Earth it's Spring! Wish we were going to have the temps we had Monday!

Sounds like a fun day no matter what the weather, DanaMo ! Hope the earth pays attention and does some more Springtime waking up soon. Looks like warmer temps are ahead for Central Ohio, starting tomorrow. How about PA and WV ?
We are suppose to be in the low 60's today and then back up to 70's by next Monday. I am so ready for warmer temps. Last year we opened our pool on April 13 and one of my kids got in! It must have been a warmer spring last year.
Truder was on the nest for almost an hour yesterday evening, did you catch it or see pics ? According to some who check out the OD chat, there are those who still claim this is Lib with a wound. However, Truder sat at the 6 o'clock position most of that time and the cam picked up his head well. It's mottled with black feathers all over the top. No resemblance to a wound and no changes as would occur with a wound. What can those naysayers be thinking ?

Nest weather today- Mostly sunny this morning...then mostly cloudy with isolated rain showers this afternoon. Highs around 60. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Is it my eyes or is the egg cup pretty well covered up now? I'm just noticing that it looks like a lot of grass and stuff on the floor of the nest.

Hedgie-Lynn as far as the sound. If you remember last year. We were so excited when we heard shots. We were called NCTC to find out "why so close to the nest". It really wasn't as close to the nest as we thought. The cam just picked up the sound. So this year while they do training that is loud. They have the sound turned off until that loud training is over. Truthfully we were calling them and emailng them last year about the "LOUD SHOTS" we would hear.
Time for papers and a bit of breakfast. BBL.
I have a question which is not related to eagles or webcams. Say if one's mother or father is put into a nursing home by their doctor. If the mother or father runs out of money. Do they come after the mother or fathers adult children for the money?
That was two ago, Dana---end of Jan. '09. Who can forget all that turmoil? That is why we ended up with only one eaglet that year.
Norfolk Daddy has been painted and is waiting to go into the kiln. Unfortunately, he'll have to wait a while for that because the instructor decided do the ones that have been fired once already, because they are probably gifts for Passover for people! I feel like a little kid who is so disappointed!
I did take a pic of him in case something happens to him in the kiln! I'm almost positive he has no air bubbles but sometmes someone elses work can explode in there and ruin the work next to it!

Dana, the answer to your question is complicated and iffy.....it depends on the state in some cases, and the financial circumstances of the adult children. If the parent meets the qualifications, they must go on Medicaid to start with. You need to talk to an elder-care advisor in WV for details.
GEULA, don't know if you had a chance to read my comment and thanks to you about the on-going danger in your part of the world.
My Pastor is home, safe and sound and dispite hearing bombs and gunfire, had a wonderful experience in the Holyland.
Geula, it may not be proper to pray about material things, but I'm gonna do it anyway. I pray that your eagle does great during firing! And I wish that it could be fired all by itself!!! Can't wait to see the finished product!!
The answer to your question, DANA, is, NO. If the parent owns their own home, that will be sold and monies given to the nursing home.
Should say, that is my understanding of the situation.

Seems like, when my dad was in the Nursing Home, medicare paid for the first 6 months and then, Mom had to start paying out of pocket.
Was $5000 then (10 years ago), probably $6 or $7000, now.

Wanda, they say it costs over $50,000 a year for nursing home care now.......and most elderly people are never going to have that kind of savings or proceeds from a home sale. Rules vary by state but there are lots of variants. I was just checking this out over the weekend.

Margy I have heard so many people say "it is not the computer but the operator". I don't believe that because I can be in email and not touching my computer and the size of things start changing. It will sometimes even send an email before I am finished typing it.

Lynn, this familial responsibility is quite scary. Have to check out the WV laws. Doesn't seem fair that a child should be responsible for their parent's finances.
If a parent signs their house and anything of value to the child and 5 years have passed, then if a Nursing Home is needed, the home cannot be used to pay the Nursing Home bills...this was the law a number of years ago, don't know about now. Seems the government is changing everything to it's own advantage, now. It's a scry situation, getting old!

Dana, I seem to have that problem a lot with emails sending before I hit send. And on Yahoo Momster mail, if I started to type a response, it jumps to the end of the page. ARGH! I suspect that maybe my little finger hits something on the keyboard because it's smaller and flatter than on the PC.because the problem doesn't happen on it!

Thank you Kay and Lynn for posting the link to the Soup Kitchen article. I didn't remember so many errors in the info. Mainly, I was and am not a VOLUNTEER at NCTC and as our Pastor said,
"It will be a simple meal, with simple food served in a simple manner", Our food is not SIMPLE, we have found a way to make SPECIAL meals from very little money. If we are going to cook for someone, we want it to be very good, not simple!
We did have a good meal last evening, although HOT DOGS are simple, Gene made a wonderful meat sauce to put on them.
