Thursday

New thread.

Update:

The eagle we brought over to the rehab center in MD on Monday is still at the Vet.  No broken bones, but blunt force trauma (hit by a car), that caused some internal injuries.  We are told that the eagle is being fed by a feeding tube right now, and will likely be moved back to the rehab center tomorrow.  We'll keep our fingers crossed that it is recovering.

Also, a Pittsburgh paper published this article a little more than a week ago.

I went to your links for Elia's homecoming, and was very touched....
I regret that I cannot open all the links, but I could read your daughter's lovely narrative, and was able to see the presentation with her singing, and the slide show....
Thank you....xoxo

Happy to know elderly lady has a motel instead of shelter offer. Not that shelters are bad but would be tough on an elderly person depending on whoever else was spending the night. She needs her family!!! And if he or whomever is driving isn't quite with it and heading in the wrong direct, needs to turn around etc etc just not a good situation in so many ways :-(

Prayers that DanaWV feels better and kicks the bug quickly,

Thanks Magpie Elia has been celebrating at school today. Many of the links no longer work. All attached to a site whose domain went down. I wrote and asked why we were not given any opportunity to move our items as ours was in fact a very special webpage. I had printed everything off for them over the 9 months so Elia will have a huge book of her journey home. She won't hear it except for this video now but she will be able to see the journey. The whole thing was called Elias Journey our prayers. Some of that original blog is still there though with lots of pictures too :-)
Elias journey our prayers

Just tolerate me today folks. I am a grandma indeed :-)

I was happy to have seen Beautiful Belle with that long nest visit this morning

Tonight, is quiet time, time for prayer and reflection. I should be at a church service somewhere, but will just do things in my own way here tonight.

Nest is off, emails are on...because I need to connect with my brothers and sisters tonight.

Love to you all, best wishes for a good evening, and I will be back in the morning before work

God Bless This Nest, and
God Bless Us, Every One

Margy, The Star of Bethlehem, what a lovely idea !

WVDana, so sorry you're not feeling well. Maybe your recent uneasiness was due to a compromised immune system as your bod sensed this "bug" coming on. These bodies are intricate machines and everything has to work together just right for us to feel really good. Okay, I'm taking off the white coat now. I should leave such things to the professionals. Feel better soon !

Kay said...

Margy, wishing you a restorative period of contemplation and meditation. You're a good example for us all ! See you in the morning, bright and early.

Sorry to read about Leona. I can empathize.

Gosh Jeddy7, Judie That is very strange indeed. I am afraid to even sign out in case that would happen to me. I will be forced to when I have to restart but until then I am leaving well enough alone.

Mariadangeloart, Paula, this morning, said she thought they will start showing up less frequently at the nest now...I had not seen Belle at the nest from Sunday till today...Then today she showed up twice...

JudyE, That's the same problem both Jim and I discussed earlier.

See Jim's post @ 1:13, mine at 3:44and Hedgies @ 5:09. All on the last page. Perhaps that will help, but it would be great if someone hits on the reason for this glitch.

hedgie said...

Da Bears

Judie---hope you check back in!!

Kay said...

Maria and Hoda, some of the oldtimers can be more specific. I took a look at the nest off and on after the new cam was up last Fall and through to mating season. I just happened on Belle and Lib several times, so know they visited once in a while. It seems most eagles stick pretty close to the nest all year, but don't really consider it home until it's time to start nestorations and get set for a new family.

hedgie said...

That Faith is just so cute....would love to hug her, the way Jack Hanna did the one on TV the other day.

JudyEddy said...

It was me JudyE that had the issues not Judie I fixed it by logging off and when I typed in a comment it lead me to google where I had to have then text me a code to enter in to verify it was me Hmm wonder what going on odd that it used my beginning of my email address as my sign on I guess we will never know OK Just want to clear the Judys up LOL Nite

mariadangeloart said...

Thanks Hoda & Kay! Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Kay said...

Lynn, thanks, as always for Da Bears ! Faith is adorable. Great video of her playing with Hope. The size disparity is worrisome as I would think Hope isn't always aware of her own strength in playing with a younger sib.

hedgie said...

JudyE, I wondered why the heck you were using your email name! Sometimes blog goes crazy, for sure!! But there is a HELP section....so if it gets too bad, go there and see if you can get it straightened out!

We have always been lucky enough to have an eaglet until this year...so we don't know 100% what the pattern will be now for nest visits. With an eaglet/fledgling, we always had plenty to watch up into July....so this is uncharted territory for us. But agree that nest visits will decrease. And it is always possible that cam may be turned off until late fall---pretty sure we went through that, didn't we old-timers?

hedgie said...

From our news:

Goslings

Kay said...

Lynn, the Goslings was a nail biter ! Very cute.

Just visited Hornby. Someone earlier mentioned no hatch. The first one isn't expected for about 9 days. Also checked on Two Harbors where mom was feeding the eaglet some kind of animal. The chick is growing by leaps and bounds !

glo said...

OK JudyE I can be as confused and confusing as the Blogger Cop can. Glad you are back however you got here. :-)

Kay said...

Lynn, is The Mentalist a repeat tonight ? I haven't had the TV today except for The View through Hot Topics. Even hot topics lacked zing today as most of it was spent touting Whoopee's Sister Act on Broadway production and Sheree's hosting of the Dove Awards.

Sounds like you're going to have a great Easter weekend ! Wishing you safe travel to McLean Saturday. Hmmm, your Sunday menu is sounding good--ham, deviled eggs, cake--oh yeah !

hedgie said...

Yes, Kay, it's a repeat! Everything was this week. AARGH!!!

hedgie said...

LOL, Kay---I'm cheating on the dinner. Not enough prep time with being gone Sat. so bought potato salad and macaroni salad. Shame on me!

Kay said...

Arrrgh is right, Lynn ! Guess I'll just go back to one of a couple books I'm reading. Will probably fall asleep within moments, however. My eyes are feeling mighty heavy.

Prayers being said tonight for holiday travelers, all aches, pains n' "bugs"...Thanks being given for the good look at Belle today and for the NBG banding being accomplished without a hitch of any kind.

For those who missed that event, tomorrow you should find video showing the whole thing. There will be a notice directly under the cam, I believe.

Wishing you all good rest and sweet dreams !

hedgie said...

I'm reading, too, Kay...and watching Carol Burnett on Piers Morgan! Sleep tight tonight!

Kay said...

Lynn, that's right smart of you. I've done the same thing in the past. I usually add a bit of mustard to the salad(s), garnish with hard boiled egg and pimento stuffed olives and hide the original container. LOL

hedgie said...

No fooling my kids, Kay. My potato salad is so exceptionally good, nothing else compares. Yeah, I'm bragging!!! I don't think anybody makes it like my Grams, Mom and me!

Kay said...

Oh, I love Carol Burnett. I don't have cable and know I miss some good stuff, but I don't miss the bill for it. My kids here gave me Netflix for Christmas and that supplements regular TV nicely. I rarely get the dvd's by mail, but frequently use Instant Play.

You know, it's sometimes hard to leave this blog, even when you've already said goodnight !!! Guess we all look to see if our post is there and then see more stuff to keep us yakking. ☺

Kay said...

Oh, I can't fool my kids with such shenanigans either ! I think we all love the tater salad we grew up with and our family is no exception. I make it just like my mother did, hmmmmmm good ! There are several things in that catagory, like chili, tamale pie, macaroni n'cheese, goulash, stuffing....each family with their own version.

Kay said...

Okay, this is it, Bye-Bye !♥♥♥♥

hedgie said...

Oh, yeah, Kay...the dressig/stuffing is another one of those things that's "ours" and no one elses will do!!!
Bye!!

hedgie said...

Concerning the elderly lady who is stranded.....she is at the hotel; the shift officer-in-charge has been with her the whole time (he got off over 3 hrs. ago). He went and got her some personal items and food. Apparently still no word on the driver. They are from Quebec. :( Poor dear, but so sweet of Ofc. McGowan!

Judie said...

Heard you calling, Lynn. Glad I was the one to hear you as I thought for a minute I might have Dissociative Identity Disorder. Judie not JudyE or Jeddy7.

Week between end of classes and exams: students have a reading week. lol The emails begin the night before the exam because students have been one a week's vacation.

McLean is minutes away, Lynn, as you know.

Andy, glad you got your work turned in and hope you have some time off over the weekend.

Night light in 27 minutes.

hedgie said...

Hi, Judie. Hope you saw the bear report. LOL---can you ignore the emails when they start????!!!!
I know, sweet girl! I'm not sure what time the party is supposed to end....it starts at 4, which means leaving here at 2. Carolyn will be with me. I may need a very stiff drink by the time it's over.....ex is going to be there. ARGH!! Shocked the h--l out of me that he actually would go. Will let you know more....
Rest well!

Prayers for the lady from Quebec. I just can not imagine. By now the police should have been called by the one who"forgot her at the rest stop" if it was accidental, wouldn't you think. No cell phone, take the exit and drive to a police station or anywhere with a phone. Tell them emergency call 911. Hmmm makes no real sense to me :-(

I know, Glo......very perturbing....

I am ready to go upstairs. Good night and God bless. See you tomorrow.

Lynn, I know how it is to be at a party with the ex. I think it does get easier as the years go by, though.

Good evening all! That is, if anyone is still here!

I haven't had time to read back too far but I see JudyE is suffering from and identity crisis, Belle made another appearance, Andy's Kubby is having cosmetic surgery on his ears, Lynn will be partying with her EX, Paula is making a run for the beach, and Margy is sporting a beautiful Star of Bethlehem.

Seems all is well in BlogLand!

I changed my avatar as well to reflect the solemnity of these next couple of days.

BUSY BUSY at work...whew! Closed tomorrow for Good Friday and everyone wanted to come in a the last minute.

We are heading to the High Ground tomorrow...can't believe the soggy forecast. Hoping to get at least some outdoor time to look for Bobolinks and Meadowlarks. We'll be stopping at the campground on the way to check in on Friend Dave and Billy.

Meanwhile, my right knee looks like a football, I can't flex it too well, and it feels like it keeps falling asleep. UGH!

Lynne2 said...

My gosh, someone left an elderly lady at a rest stop?????

hedgie said...

Think this will be the third time, Shirley. Sleep tight!

Just found out that a well-known DC blues performer, Ben Andrews, who lived in S'town died at our hospital last week....suspicious circumstances...police investigating. Apparently a lot of blood at his home....more to be revealed. Nothing in our papers...
Andrews

hedgie said...

Lynne, hope your weekend is a good one. Worrying about your knee....wonder if it needs tapped??? Please be careful....go to an ER if necessary. You all be safe!

hedgie said...

Down in the 30's tonight....hope it doesn't damage any of the blooms or buds....
Megan....turn on the gh heater!!!

Lynne2 said...

It feels so tight Lynn. Really weird feelings. I'll see how it is on Monday.

Looking forward to seeing all of the redbuds on 70 and 68....and maybe we'll see a bear!

Lynne2 said...

oh DUH....clearly the funky love bunny is NOT a reflection of the days ahead.....forgot to hit SAVE!

hedgie said...

LOL---I was going to say...avatar didn't change...but then thought I'd give you one more post! I would say that the swelling is severe enough that it's probably pressing on a nerve, girlfriend....Elevate higher than your heart, ice it, and then wrap in the morning before you get out of bed! Nurses orders.

I'm heading for the tub. Goodnight to any who turn in before I check back.

Lynne2 said...

Will do Lynn!

Got to get to bed....good night and prayers for you all. Especially the poor lost lady. So sad....

I'll try to get back in the AM before we leave, but if I don't I will likely not be back til Monday so no worries!

Prayers for the lady who was left at a rest stop. Cannot imagine at this point that it wasn't deliberate. Really feel bad for her! Who was it that left her behind?! Gosh, maybe they are senile. Prayers for them, too. What a sad situation! Hope it works out OK.

I've changed my avatar to one more appropriate for Easter too. Must give credit where credit is due! Thank you, Jesus!

Lynne2,
Golly, what happened to your knee? Sounds pretty bad. Hope that ice will help. Prayers being said for you! Please get it checked out asap if it doesn't get better!

Sharon, can't wait to hear more about Andrew and Kelsey! I hope they are recording the performance and making CDs available! Hope Sissy is feeling better by now. Prayers continue!

Wanda, I'm praying that you will get a VERY good night's rest so you will enjoy tomorrow. Prayers for GG too!

Lolly, don't blame you for cheating on your diet. Ice cream is my worst weakness! I am SO jealous! Glad you had such a good time today.

Well, think I will adjourn to TV land for a while. Prayers have been said for everyone. Making sure the porch light is on. Judie, thanks for the night light! WOW I just read the article and was a little sad they equated Truder with a bully when he was just following his instincts as a wild animal. Not a good lesson to teach children in my opinion, this is life as we see it in the wild and to place a stigma such as that is wrong for children. Sorry my opinion and being a mother I would rather my child know realities of our fauna wild or tame.

Robyn, good point on that Pittsburgh article. Truth is always the best way. We often under estimate children and their ability to accept realism.

magpie said...

they snuck right in on me Kay

we have sound, sort of

Kay said...

They're messin' with us now now !
both going at the flugg hot and furiously.

Kay said...

I wonder what they get out of this daily nestoration activity---is she just training him ??

Lori O. said...

Morning Margy and Kay - just checking to make sure & of course, you guys are right on it.

Nice to have a 2 eagle visit 2 days in a row.

Kay said...

She's turned her back on him and is sitting at the 12 spot. He is as 5.

magpie said...

Ha Ha
Belle turned her back to Truder
He flew out at the 5

Kay said...

Poof he's gone at 6:22

Kay said...

he's back

Kay said...

He's right behind her picking at the nest cup area.

magpie said...

Truder is not Man-Eagle enough to move any big sticks around !

Canada Geese..haven't heard them for awhile

Kay said...

he moves to 6 spot and she picks at nest cup.

Kay said...

I don't think I'd ever turn my back on him as she is doing this morning !

magpie said...

Saw your pictures on the E-M album frm yesterday Megan
they were good ones !

Kay said...

They are back to back, she at 12 and he at 6. He keeps turning his head for a look at her.

Kay said...

poof he's out at 9 spot

magpie said...

Good Point, Kay
and way Truder goes from the 7

Kay said...

He's baaaack

Kay said...

Yeh, 7 is more accurate, Margy. I can't tell time yet ! LOL

magpie said...

my head was tilked, Kay - it was the 9 ☺
and he brought stuff back in with him
They are both working the nest pretty hard today

Kay said...

had a little tussle over branch he carried over to her. She shows him how to place it in the railing.

Kay said...

Poof Belle out at 12

magpie said...

Saw the tree shake and heard a clunk-landing ?

Kay said...

poof Truder

Kay said...

He exited at about the 4 spot.

magpie said...

What do you think, Kay - would you say out at the 4 ?? ☺

Kay said...

It's good to have the sound back ! At some point in all that we got Color, but I missed seeing it til' now.

Kay said...

Yep, out at 4 !

magpie said...

LOL Kay !

It takes a half minute for me to get a post up with live feed

Kay said...

Lori must have been called away. I think you and I got er' done, Margy.

magpie said...

I hadn't even brought up the live feed at first thought I had a few minutes to post a few comments, that'll teach me because I did not see them arriving....back around 6:13 am -
guess they are off to find breakfast or just oversee the nest from the branches

Kay said...

I'm hanging out til' 7, just in case they return. Then I'm heading for the newspapers before time to head to Jack Hanna Land.

magpie said...

so 35 minutes later and now I am scrambling to get ready for work...

The dogs let me sleep and I woke up on my own at 6:45. Got my coffee now, but missed the visit :(

Blessed Good Friday to everyone. I'm going to catch the news since I missed the visit. I don't expect they will be back anytime soon.

Have a great day!

Back just to check my updated avatar.

Happy to know Paula's eagles are still there !

Megan's weather report sounds about right for Columbus today, too. Not the best day for the zoo, but will take an umbrella and we'll concentrate on indoor exhibits. The zoo is too big to do in one day. We take it a section at a time over the course of Spring and Summer.

HAGD, everyone !

Praise the Lord. The elders will be reunited later today. Husband was located in northern PA around 0430. Resting up before he returns for his wife. 78 y.o.
No other details yet.

Good morning on this chilly, dreary, damp Good Friday morning. I have always found it fitting that it rain on this somber day.

Update: Honest mistake. They were in a large camping van. I suspected something like that....have heard of it happening before. I'm sure he was a frantic as she was when he realized she wasn't there.
